I noticed this always happens when something occurs for the first time.
- the first time the killer gains Bloodlust
- the first time the killer attacks anyone
- the first time Sloppy Butcher is applied (as killer and survivor)
- the first time getting shocked by Doctor
- pretty much every status effect / add-on
And it resets every match. So you go through the entire list every game, freezing every time.
That's correct. At least on console, you can also add "when somebody opens a chest" to the list.

@twistedmonkey said:
Personally I get no freezes playing on PC using with an i7 and gtx1070 with 16gb of ram.
Some more info could be helpful.
Platform you play on - steam, ms store, ps4, ps4 pro, xbox one, switch.
If on pc what are your specs and what graphics options do you run?
Does it happen every time or is it random?
Does it happen more on certain maps or versing certain killers?
Take a look at my post above. I explained it in short.

I never had this issue before.. then once the Chains of Hate DLC got released it started happening all the time.
That's because the spaghetti code gets worse with each update, so the game becomes more demanding with each update.
The better the pc, the better it can compensate the bad programming of DbD. So some pc players have been dealing with this for ages, while others only for a short amount of time.
And since consoles can't compete with the processing power of a pc, it's even worse there.

You could have completed four(maybe five) matches with all that time.(or) could ahve patrol other places instead of running in circles around gensthat had no progress like other competent killers would do.

You always have the option to quit. If I were you and found out they were hiding, I would roam the map a little more, get higher ground and maybe try lockers. If none of that works, would havequit.
Great. OP faces opponents who hold the game hostage. OP is the one who is getting insulted and told to dc.
You can't make this stuff up.
-
Cool. Yesterday I got my daily dose of DbD community with people defending cheating, today it is making up excuses for taking the game hostage. 😂
-
Remove hooks. (Downed survivors can re-spawn somewhere else on the map.)
I know, that wouldn't be DbD anymore, but it's the only way to completely remove hook camping from the game. 🤷
-
That only makes sense when you intend to do farming matches, and I hate those.
Otherwise, you can also get the bonus now.
-
Just from experience (playing the game more than 3 years now), I fully expect a PGTW nerf/a rework à la Ruin.
-
Unbreakable.
You're welcome.
-
I'll give you another approach: I've been playing DbD for more than 3 years now. I completely stopped playing killer a couple of months ago because I didn't want to deal with all the nonsense anymore (stress, toxicity etc.).
It worked great for me.
-
And of course there will be people who defend cheating and insult players who simply expect their opponent to follow the rules.
I guess that's my daily dose of DbD community for today lul
-
In their last survey, the devs asked us whether bonus bloodpoints would make us play the other role. If the responses were positive, then we'll probably get such a system, and then it could help with queue times.

And can you tell me one reasonable argument where running petrified is considered toxic? I guess i wont continue this nonsense debate with you.
Since you asked me to, I guess I have to spell it out: You & your team simply didn't know that 3 petrified oaks did not have a big effect. Otherwise you obviously wouldn't have brought these offerings.
You intended to go full anti-hook against the killer and are angry because it didn't work. 😉
I hope we get killer bots for pc & console soon, so those can play against such groups like yours. 😆

"lulz" what's wrong with that when petrified doesn't do anything special?
This community us so ######### toxic you cant even debate about something without being accused of toxicity. Go on killer mains, you'll be punching air cuz you wont be finding lobbies of solo survivors where you can show how StRoNg you are.
Brings 3 petrified oaks to go full anti-hook while claiming to be a "chill team". Gets called out for it. Accuses the people who call them out of being the toxic ones. 😂
Btw: I have always been a survivor main but I fully stopped playing killer months ago because I'm not dealing with this nonsense anymore.
-
"we put 3 petrified oaks" "we are totally chill team" lulz

Give Killers BP for hatch escapes
This is brilliant! 😂

If the difference between a 3k and a 4k bloodpoint- and pip-wise would not be that significant, we would see a lot less slugging.
The solution is kind of obvious.

I’ve proposed this argument in the forums too.
I’ll slug when I spot other survivors or know there’s someone with a flashlight nearby, with intent to pick them back up shortly. I’ll come back but they have crawled off and can’t find them.
A lot of them bleed out, and post game I’ll get furious messages about how toxic slugging is instead of hooking.
?!?!
If you want to be hooked and don’t want to have so much time wasted bleeding out, either stay put or let the crows accumulate wherever you are!!!
The next time we see somebody here complaining about slugging, we can ask them: "Are you waiting where you got downed for the killer to pick you up?"
The answers will probably be quite interesting.
-
It's a really interesting phenomenon: A lot of players say "slugging is boring, don't slug", yet when they are slugged they will hide from the killer and wait 4 minutes until they bleed out.
What's the reasoning behind this?
-
There are a lot of great video games out there. I hope you'll find a new favourite soon and that it never comes to a point again where you feel that a video game and its community has a negative impact on your mental health.
Take care!
-
Yes, it happens occasionally. If there is a lack of killers in the US, you can end up on one of the US servers when you should have gotten connected to Frankfurt or London instead.
It has been like this for a while, also happens on other platforms.
-
Old Ruin - if not found early in the game because of bad totem spawns - bought the killer time especially at the beginning of the match. That also allowed for more playstyle variety.
New Ruin doesn't help at the beginning of the match anymore, which leads to more scenarios à la "first hook, 3 gens done".
It's not a coincidence that complaints about tunneling, camping, certain killer perks/offerings etc increased when Ruin was changed. So if the intention was to make killers play "harder" against survivors, then it was a job well done.
-
I'm surprised that not more people are aware of this. I personally know several killer players who stick to the afternoon and don't play after 7pm/8pm because they don't want to face that many "sweaty groups".
Also if you watch killer streamers, the matches of those who play in the afternoon are in general more chill/easy than those who play in the evening/at night.
-
While the idea of a killer jumping out of lockers is funny, the whole thing has a major drawback: As the killer, you don't have the time to go into a locker and wait & hope that a survivor will come near.
-
Could we stop calling stategies/using perks/using add-ons "unfair"? Unfair is hacking or using exploits.
Let's call it by the right name: "playing generously" or "going soft on the opponent" or something similar.
Nobody is the fun & bloodpoint provider for the other side.
(All that goes for both sides btw, but surprisingly having to "play generously" is usually only expected from one side.)
-
Are your survivor queues instant?

Why do people act like corn blindness is a real thing? I've never had issues with it as killer.
Do you play on pc? Corn on pc and PS4 are different worlds.
-
Remember, only survivors are allowed to run strong loadouts. /s
Edit: From the length of the black bar, I assume the DS-Unbreakable-DH-Adre-Flashlight guy was the one who wrote that last line. lul
-
As long as you don't go out of your way to annoy other players who treat you perfectly normal, sure. Killing is the killer's job.
-
And killers can de-pip while getting a 4k. The entire ranking system doesn't work, just like the matchmaking. It has been like that for ages. 🤷
-
From my experience, a lot of survivors don't appreciate it when you play nice (no camp, no tunnel, no mori, no NOED, no what else is on the hate list...).
As a thank-you for thinking of their fun, you get t-bagged at the exit gates and insulted in the after game chat.
So just play how you want.
-
When the amount of people playing is higher than usual and queue times are long for both roles at the same time, then the most likely cause is that the matchmaking servers simply cannot keep up with the high amount of inquiries (=high amount of people wanting to get into a lobby).

As much ######### as I have given the team over the years, I do believe they are capable of making this game truly great.
Bethesda is intent on burning the very ground they're fixed upon.
How can you believe they are capable of making DbD great?
After 4 years this game is still heavily unbalanced, doesn't have a proper ranking and matchmaking system, the dedicated servers are hated by a huge part of the community, the game is full of bugs, the performance is getting steadily worse instead of better...
Seriously, HOW?
-
When players have the possibility/opportunity to keep acting toxic in a game over and over again, and nothing happens to change that situation - I think it's pretty obvious who in the end is responsible for that situation.

It'd still be much faster to just suicide. It takes, what, 1 minute to find a crown?
Then the numbers could be changed to 1/9, 1/12... like @Warcrafter4 suggested.
As I said, I don't think there is a perfect way to do this.
Even passively earning an event currency by just spending time in trials (so there would be no incentive to kill oneself on the hook) would be abused.
-
@Warcrafter4 Your suggestion (giving the surv 1/6 or whatever % of the crown when they die) could work. But I bet it would not stop the complaints.
There just isn't a perfect way how to do is. 🤷
-
You guys realize that you defend a player who reports another player just because they did not let them win? And you put blame on the guy who played a normal game? lul

I love it, I can mori people and steal their crowns. It’s already difficult getting a crown when there’s 4 survivors vs 1 killer. I think it’s fair.
You know that there is not only one crown, right? In theory, everybody can get one.
-
Xbox seriously has such a system? What a bad idea.
-
Do you guys remember the Halloween event 2018?
Survivors were collecting the "nectar" at the beginning of the match, then run to the killer, get themselves hooked and killed themselves to go to the next match as fast as possible, and repeat the same thing all over again.
We didn't have normal matches. It was horrible. If survivors now kept their crown no matter the outcome of the match, we would be dealing with the same nonsense as in 2018.
-
So, from my previous thousands of hours of playing this game, I believe the devs when they said that the hatch spawn is decided already at the beginning of the match. It matches my personal experience. I can count the times when something like in the video happened to me on one hand.
However:
It's interesting. I saw something similar happen to a streamer just one or two days ago, also on the new map. Could be a) a coincidence, b) a new game mechanic. Could be that c) there are only 2 possible hatch spawns, like on Badham (exaggerated, obviously).
I'd say let's keep watching the situation. After a couple of weeks, it should become clear whether it's a), b) or c).
-
Spaghetti code. They intend to change one thing and aren't aware what else is affected until a new bug pops up.
There are more things, but the code is one of the biggest problems this game has.

I don't think billy's basekit will get a nerf.
My bets are on Billy getting the Nurse treatment: At first it's only "going to nerf the most powerful add-ons" and the final result will be a severely nerfed basekit with lots of useless add-ons.
I'm waiting for add-ons à la "hitting a survivor with the chainsaw applies Blindness for 60 seconds".
-
I've been playing on console since the release 3 years ago. Since then, the performance on console got steadily worse.
Let's look at it from a realistic point of view: If the devs wanted to and/or knew how to fix the performance issues, they would have done it by now.
-
No. Open-Handed only affects your and your teammates' aura reading.

the after-game chat

It's okay but not great. If you have Save The Best For Last unlocked, use that perk instead.
Edit: I just saw what the user above me (xenotimebong) wrote and that they took the time to explain more detailed. Basically that.
-
I expect the graphics update to make the game more laggy on consoles, because it has been that way in the past. (I'm playing on PS4 since 2017.)
Just take a look at old Léry's vs new Léry's, for example. Currently, the maps with the least amount of lags are the oldest ones. 😂

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/159260/i-am-a-changed-survivor
I’m a rank 1 survivor that managed to get there by hardly ever running DS or BT. In fact they’re probably my least used perks.
I mean, nowadays everybody can get to rank 1 as a perkless survivor. Rank just tells us how often the surv plays the game.
(I'm just stating that as a general thing. I don't want to say that you specifically don't belong on rank 1.)
