Playing fair means that somebody follows the devs' rules. Playing fair is not the same as playing "soft" and intentionally giving the opponent an advantage - that would be playing generously.
Killers and survivors are allowed to play how they want, as long as they follow the rules and don't exploit/hack etc. Everybody is allowed to use whatever perk/add-on/tactic they want, so of course, if you need DS/Unbreakable/exhaustion perks, then run them.
This is a PvP game. The normal thing is to expect that people play to win. Nobody is the opponent's fun provider.
Btw, it has been months since the last time I played killer. Too stressful. 🤷
-
I'll give two extreme examples: Bodyblocking a survivor in a corner for 15 seconds for Borrowed Time to run out is okay. Bodyblocking a surv for 10 minutes isn't.
The devs haven't told us a precise amount of time when bodyblocking becomes bannable. I believe the people who handle the reports decide on a case-by-case basis.
The 60 seconds in your case feel like a grey area to me. I'm afraid you'll have to wait and see whether something is going to happen or not.

Jesus christ, how hard is it to understand that matchmaking is ######### for both sides? Its not an exclusive killer problem, I have gone against rank 17s as a rank 1 killer more times than I can count, and recently coming back to the game I went against a rank one when I was a rank 9 survivor.
Who said it was an exclusive killer problem?
Another user said that starting to play killer is easier/more fun now compared to back in 2017 (they were talking specifically about killers, not players in general) and I explained that this isn't true because the non-existent machtmaking ruins everything. Simply as that. This is not a killers vs. survivors thing.

Wait... What? When I started in late 2017 survivors used the following every match:
- REAL instaheals
- REAL brand new parts
- REAL god loops
- pallet vacuum
- more pallets including god pallets that were not even mindgameable (pre school entrace to name a sample)
- more windows
- SAFER windows (Wretched Shop to name a sample)
- darker cosmetics
- Balanced Landing passive effect to nearly loop buildings infinitely
- multiple exhaustion perks if I commited to a chase too long because exhaustion used to cooldown WHILE SPRINTING
- REAL decisive strike (especially non-obsession decisive strikes that were completely unexpected)
I could list a bunch of other stuff that I remember but you get the point. Playing killer is really easy now.
Ironically I rarely moaned back when I was new. I just played and enjoyed killer gameplay because DBD was completely unique gameplay-wise. Were there any other games like DBD back then that allowed you to hunt down other players like prey?
IIRC, rank 20 killers did not get matched against red rank survivors in 2017.

Yeah, can't wait to go against PC survivors with much better fps. /s
How can people not see that console killers will be left in the dust? They need to reach their promised goal of 60fps first. In the meantime, they could just allow crossplay between consoles. Or at least give us the option to dissable crossplay with PC.
I'm not eager for crossplay, either. I would disable it, if the option got implemented. The question is how that would affect queue times.
Crossplay has the potential to hurt the console playerbase. I'm afraid it could become a "disappointment" like dedicated servers.
-
If there will be crossplay this year, the most likely scenario is that the devs will reveal in June when it will go live (when they do the anniversary stream/broadcast).
-
Turn off the messages for non-friends. I did the same after I played DbD for a while. Sadly, I had to do this only because of this one game. Very telling, but the DbD community doesn't have its reputation for no reason.
And regarding your last question: It doesn't happen that often when you play surv, it's a completely different world compared to when you play killer.
-
I haven't gotten a single timeout since the penalties got implemented. I must do something wrong.
-
The real problem is that we have now way too many characters and perks in the game for the amount of bloodpoints we are getting out of a match, not BBQ/WGLF.

Yeah, it absolutely baffles me why the devs nerfed Remember Me with the EGC update but then just let it slow the Gates after you close Hatch anyway.
I'd think the obvious solution would have been to leave it as it was, but just have it deactivate when the EGC starts.
Exactly how you say it: Remember should have 6 stacks à 5 seconds, like it used to do, and then deactivate after the EGC started.
But Remember Me just got unnecessarily nerfed. No idea why, I don't think people felt like it was too strong.
-
That's not the impression I got.
Of course you'll also get a lot of messages as killer on PS4, but often it's on the level of "ez git gud baby noob camper tunnler", whereas when I watch a pc killer streamer, it's death wishes every day.
I wonder why this is the case. Maybe Sony is more rigorous when it comes to handing out permanent bans for communication abuse. 🤷♀️

Whatever you say mate, I don't really care who is easier to play.
What I do find funny it's why people care about getting pip if they 3-4k on red rank when there's nowhere to rank up to. That's kinda silyl to complain about but hey , e-pin has to grow somehow , right? Lol.
You said "Correct me if I'm wrong , but a 3k is enough for a pip most of the time." You were wrong, so I told you how it is.
I didn't say anything about which role is easier to play or why anybody would care about pips. If you don't mean "correct me if I'm wrong", then don't write it lol
-
@BigBubs said:
Correct me if I'm wrong , but a 3k is enough for a pip most of the time.
And in the screenshot I see a 2k...try getting a 3k and then show us you still didn't pip. And then use a that silly thread title.
PS
I do wonder why all the killers who want a 4k want it so bad they will slug and make the game last extra 5-10 minutes. And I play both sides and don't mind last survivor getting hatch if they get lucky. I give it to them pretty often too.
So no , not only "survivor mains" wonder why so many killers are sweating their balls off.
Usually a 3k is not enough for a red rank killer to pip. Even a 4k often only leads to a safety pip.
It's completely different to playing red rank survivor, where pipping is easy.
-
I'd like it if we would be given an option in the main menu to choose between the killer's individual and the standard music, because honestly I really dislike most of the killer's individual music pieces, especially Doc's. I wouldn't even want to call it "music".
-
Moris are way worse than keys because they kill the fun for 4 people, whereas the key only kills the fun for 1 person.
(sarcasm, obviously)
-
Why are people so keen on keeping keys as they are? Why would somebody need this stuff besides for an undeserved escape?
I'm a survivor main, and I'm not in denial about how broken this stuff is.
-
There was a whole section with stuff that didn't have anything to do with fairness...
-
I hope you submitted this to the cosmetics contest!
-
All of the survivors & killers being focussed in this Tome should get a figurine, simple as that.
Personally, there aren't enough decent cosmetics in the Rifts for me to make me buy the battle pass(es).
-
-
If there is a lag, you will die despite hitting the button. This game is often laggy on console, so this happens from time to time.

@LordCyphre said:
Make it so survivors don't have multiple lives. Once you're in the hook, you're out. Now you can't get camped and tunneled, easy fix.
Not sure whether you are joking, but you are not wrong. Survivors would have to respawn somewhere else on the map after getting hooked. Or after getting downed, and hooks just got removed from the game. Basically, it wouldn't be DbD anymore.
The other option would be to inflict a really severe punishment point-wise, so that a significant number of killers would stop doing it. The drawback: If that would happen, a lot of killers would stop playing the game completely, and then we would be looking at 30+ minutes queue times for survs.
-
Just give solo players a way to see how many uncleansed totems are still on the map.
With the current state of the game, there is more than enough time to do bones.
-
This game is unbalanced & the matchmaking is bad. I won't encourage anyone to play killer. If you can't find fun in playing survivor, then it is how it is.
-
I don't think we have enough players for multiple modes.
Besides that, the upcoming new matchmaking system will have hidden ranks, so we won't be able to tell which ranks our opponents and teammates have anyway.

Flashlight lobbies are literally the easiest games as killer. Everyone wants to flashlight save which leads to free downs, and everyone wants to blind at pallets which, if you equip lightborn, is also a free hit. I just don't see what killers have issues with when survivors have flashlights.
Lightborn is indeed lovely when the survivors don't realize what's going on. I fondly remember a match where I got 6 free hits because of this.

I wouldn't really count on that to help. They are going to hide the new MMR system, so we can't see if it is actually working. That is never a good sign. They are then going to lets us see the current ranking system ranks, which will be meaningless, but are going to be there for "bragging rights". What's there to brag about if it isn't the true ranking.
Also, there goal is to try and make it as fair as possible while getting you into a match as soon as possible. Ultimately, if the problem with queue times is with a shortage of killers, as most suspect, then killers will face the same situations of being matched with survivors that are much more experienced than they are. The difference will be, because the ratings will be hidden, that you won't be able to post screen shots proving that matchmaking isn't working.
I hate being cynical, but some of the things the devs have said and done recently leaves me skeptical...and hiding the ratings doesn't help my faith in what they will be doing.
I agree. I don't see how a hidden system will help. Players will have a bad match experience and if they complain, it will be even easier for others to tell them to "just play better". And we won't have any idea whether the new system will work or not.
@TheDG said:
That’s really unfortunate. I wonder if they have any plans to address those issues.
The current ranking & matchmaking system is part of the problem, but the main problem is the gameplay itself: A lot of people feel that playing killer is no fun (including me, I'm a survivor main for a reason).
I don't think that the upcoming changes will help a lot, but we will see. The changes to gen time are a drop in the ocean. I'm curious how the map changes will turn out, but I don't have that much hope.
Also, I have a feeling that moris, NOED & Billy will receive significant nerfs in the not-so-distant future. If that would happen, it would worsen our current situation.
-
"How dare a player complain that the opponent dc's to give their teammates an advantage, or even a free escape!"
Seriously, I find slugging for the 4k super boring, too. Just make the difference in points between a 3k and a 4k irrelevant, and everybody can move on to the next match.
-
It's a mix of your rank and a lack of people playing killer. If you get to a higher rank, you should find matches quicker.
But due to a lack of killers, you still won't have instant survivor lobbies.
-
For a good gaming experience, we need a good ranking system and a good matchmaking system.
Our current problems start with us not even having a good ranking system.
-
Do you sit on gens while looking at the killer with OoO? If the killer sees that you are NOT working, he can leave you alone.

Go try it in KYF then, I've ran Stridor multiple times vs Iron Will users in pub matches and didn't hear anything. A long time ago, you could faintly hear IW with Stridor.. now.. nothing
Sounds are buggy most of the time. IIRC Stridor was bugged until recently. Right now at the moment, it usually works how it is supposed to: You hear IW users with Stridor-Spirit (at 50%).
-
Don't cheat, then it's a fair match.
Edit: "Fair" except for all the balance issues, but that's not what this thread is about.

Really yall need 8 which I counted all 12 ft from eachother? Maps already small really need the axis for whole map riddled with hooks cmon now you cant be serious. To expect that teamwork often in a solo que gg it doesnt happen. This is why swf occurs because how else would you expect that? So usually it's just luck ig or relying on randoms to be that brave and cunning. Also flip flop seriously? I never see anyone rock because 9/10 high tier killer will hook you than let bleed get real....
So what do you want? Hooks more far away from each other so that the killer can't hook you and your mates, and everybody gets slugged half of the time?
Because I see threads on a regular basis where players complain that killers use slugging to apply pressure instead of instantly hooking everyone everytime.
-
Agreed. I would like it if the visual effects coming with Deep Wound would be less prominent.
-
If you have the time, you can usually play survivor early in the day until early afternoon. The late afternoon/evening is usually when the stronger SWF groups are playing, and a lot of killer players are aware of that and prefer to not play at that time of the day.
-
Erm... you are not supposed to wiggle off all by yourself without the help of perks and/or teammates. The main purpose of wiggling is that you won't get carried to the basement each time you get downed.
Also, I think most players prefer getting hooked to getting slugged.
-
Survivors can kill themselves on a hook, killers can't leave a match early. Either give all players the possibility to leave early or nobody.

Mid-chapter and new chapter used to come 2 weeks after ptb, emphasis on "used to".
The last time it took 3 weeks and it seemed to work better for the devs. Looks like it will always be 3 weeks from now on.

I still don't know why they expect me to pay $10 and 300 hours of grinding just to get some recolours of skins.
At least add the recolours to the free rift. Then I might consider it.
I'd rather just by the original skins and y'know, not have to grind 300 hours worth of games and challenges.
I play a lot and get to tier 70, but I still don't buy the rift pass. Even if I get the auric cells back, the cosmetics aren't worth it for me to put the initial $10 in. Pretty sad, if you think about it.

The survivors who play like and belong at low ranks are also having a red color at the moment. It's just how the ranking system works. 🤷♀️

Hiding? 👀 you sure that's the quote?
Maybe it's possible? I do wonder what some of the characters would be like if they had voiced interactions like Overwatch characters or something.
I added an "Edit" to make the joke clearer. XD
-
"Look who's hiding in the tall grass!"
Edit: That's not Ash's quote. That's supposed to be a quote for any survivor whenever there is also a Claudette present in the lobby.
-
I know what you mean. AFAIK, the devs haven't told us a specific number what exactly counts as "great height".
I can just say: You are right, not everything that triggers BL counts as "great height" with this challenge. I got this challenge done by jumping from high buildings like the Ironworks of Misery. The harvesters are definitely not enough.
-
This one-button-for-everything mechanic has killed me more often than I can count. 😅
-
I have to assume it's intended that the game is how it is and I don't expect that the situation will change. Such a waste, as DbD always had great potential to be so much more than an unbalanced party game.
-
I hate Doc's chase music. I played a handful of matches against Docs today and I'm still having phantom pain.
The standard chase music is sooo much better.
My hate grows bigger with every match I play. -_-

I love that mobile and pc users are now discussing whether what they see is Comic Sans or not. A well-thought joke on so many levels!
@DWolfAlpha If you like Comic Sans, stop using the mobile version and come to the aestethic side!
