The Archive has always been killer sided. Most of survivor challenges there make survivors throw the game, while killer challenges are just "play the game like you always do".

I think the current tome has been quite good in terms of giving realistic survivor challenges that don't require throwing. I've managed to complete both levels without having to change up how I play the game.

  • Agreed! I'll never say no to freebies

Huh. I wonder which one's right then… probably won't know until may 14th i guess. I'd bet it's the longer requirements though especially cause after may 14th the new chapter ptb will drop so there will be a lot of streams to watch.

Yeah I suspect it's the longer requirements too. It probably was the shorter ones initially and just hasn't been updated on their site

  • My BHVR account says only 1hr, 3hrs, and 4hrs

  • The people of the internet are not okay, and DBD is no exception. Only suggestion I can make is to pick your spaces and your battles. Close endgame chat, or just leave a ggs and then move on immediately. That way you don't concern yourself with any postgame salt. I dunno if I'd call the community toxic personally. There are certainly toxic individuals but in my experience they are few and far between. I think it helps to just remind yourself that at the end of the day it's just a game and nothing is personal. These folks don't know you from a bar of soap, and vice versa, and the majority aren't out to intentionally give you a bad time.

Re the streamer, you said he asked to be hooked and the last person then got hatch. So I'm guessing it was just the two of them left when he asked to be hooked? Lots of killers will slug the third survivor and then search for the 4th, so if the game was a clear loss he may have just wanted to move on without all that shenanigans. In that situation I don't think he was too unreasonable in asking.

I've said before that I think a rep system would be good. Instead of just focusing on punishing bad behaviour, reward good behaviour. Have the thumbs up in endgame mean something. Give and gain points, get rewards, etc. Exclude swf for obvious reasons (sorry guys).

  • Yeah mine does it too. For more info - just select her in the survivor menu and observe her animation. Just before the animation repeats she will kind of stutter. It does the same in lobby when waiting for game to start up.

  • Yup. The Anniversary is my favourite time of the DBD year

  • They want you to try playing a different role. What annoys me is that there's only a few killers I enjoy playing, and many I do not enjoy playing not least because I'm on a controller and so find some are too hard to play efficiently. So even though the game wants me to play more killer over survivor, fact is there's only a few that I'll willingly play for the miniscule bloodpoints on offer. IMO they should do two things - first, increase the bloodpoints reward to make it more appealing, and secondly, have 6 dailies. 3 for killer and 3 for survivor.

  • I do think it's Frank Stone. Not just the mask, but one of the skulls has a hole in the forehead with blood coming out. One of Frank's weapons is the below hammer, of which the sharp point could be used in such a way

    Screenshot_20240508_193000_Reddit.jpg Screenshot_20240508_193053_Reddit.jpg
  • They said they were working on equalising all survivors sounds, and honestly for all we know they might make the loud survivors as quiet as Ada. That would still be equalising them all, especially as Ada isn't the only quiet survivor (Ace, Kate, Sheva, and Zarina come to mind). We just don't know. But Ada was obviously intentionally released as a more quiet survivor, while the Huntress skin was simply put to the volume that the actual killer herself is meant to be at. Ada was never confirmed to be a bug.

  • On this note, they need to make sealed envelope a common offering. Because despite being Uncommon like escape cakes, I always end up with double the amount of envelopes as I do cakes. I refuse to believe bloodpoint offerings are completely random in the bloodweb. If they are then I have seriously bad karma.

  • Try it in a bot game maybe

  • I think the idea behind it was that if you're running Invocation and get caught, you have a way of getting yourself out of trouble. Restricting it's distance kind of defeats that purpose.

I swear by Deja Vu and Empathy for info. Helps avoid stupid 3-gen scenarios, and Empathy indirectly helps tracking the killer and speeds up healing by finding injured survivors. With enough gamesense you can almost pass for a SWF with how efficient you can be on gens and healing with this info.

Then for the other two perks I usually go for some combo of: We'll Make It to really double down on healing (and as you can see the injured survivor in chase you can predict where they're going down / getting hooked), Prove Thyself, Distortion, or an Exhaustion like Lithe/Balanced.

I've been running Deja Vu and Empathy with Alert for awhile now because I'm enjoying it so much. All that info coming in makes me feel alot less isolated in solo. Alert is quite good with Deja Vu, especially in later game, as it gives away which gen/s the killer is prioritising and gives me advanced warning when they're heading to mine.

Next build I'm planning is We'll Make It with Second Wind and Empathy. My last perk is usually always an Exhaustion perk.

And Tough Cookie being survivor only despite being based on Trapper is also disappointing :(

No more them and us :( we should be able to share all charms

  • I've seen a number of survivors showing no perks in endgame. Enough that I'm suspicious of there being a bug

  • Yes unfortunately. I had a game where I couldn't even unhook my team mate lol the game kept rubberbanding me back away from them. Another team mate ran in and unhooked, I wonder what I looked like on their end

  • Don't think I've ever seen that for survivor. I guess because crows will notify the killer who can just hook them. I think there was a time where it would DC afk killers, probably to combat bot killers, but I haven't seen that in awhile tbh. Or maybe I dreamed that.

  • Yeah I just played a game now and it was impossible to play. It was like this the whole game, even worse at times. I couldn't do anything. I tried unhooking a team mate at one point and couldn't get to them, I was just getting thrown back repeatedly.

    Watch "unnamed" on Streamable.

I sorta interpreted the wiggling differently, whereas I assumed the slight wiggle was an indicator that they saw the hatch somewhere.

Sometimes I just dribble the survivor and have them find the hatch themselves as I just AFK until the game ends (which works for me, I've never had an instance where me going AFK has taken too long for them to find hatch).

Yeah, key word is 'try' lol you just gotta hope they catch your drift

  • That Maurice one being a killer only charm has made me grumpy, ngl 🥲

I think the BHVR policy on things like Crunch Time is pretty well known, so no.

Updates also have to go to the Platforms for Certifications, that's why it does take a bit longer.

It's good to know no one had to give up their free time!

And now a Patch dropped and its Monday. Can we stop with the "usually"-stuff? When nothing is announced, nothing should be expected, even on the "usual" dates.

Quite a decent patch too, they've fixed alot of stuff. I'm guessing some of the devs were putting in the overtime hours on the weekend.

Gets really awkward when the killer is trying to find hatch for you and… doesn't find it for a while. I've never been on the receiving end of that, I've only embarrassingly struggled to find hatch for my fellow survivor.

If it's taking too long I'll briefly hit my wiggle skill checks to try communicate with the killer that they may as well just hook me lol I had a Nemesis try find me hatch back on old Mother's Dwelling. I appreciated him for trying but on a map that big he was better off just hooking me, which he did eventually.

  • Lol I had a game the other day where I was using Empathy, so I could see where my team mate was being chased once they got hit and thankfully it was on the opposite side of the map. No sooner had I thought to myself that I'll get this gen done no problem, their aura starts getting closer and closer... dude literally is just making a beeline across the map right up to me lol I said out loud "are you for real right now??"

  • I liked the consistency of my games back then. I'd get down to purple rank and purposely stay there because my games were so chill at that rank and I felt like everyone I got matched with was on my level. If I went into gold it was like night and day in comparison, from what I remember. Like everyone just started sweating. I had zero desire to play at red. SBMM honestly just feels like the roll of a dice alot of the time. Sometimes it gets it right and everyone feels in sync, but that's the exception it feels like. The thing is though, I loved SBMM when they first changed over to it. It felt like instead of me having to stay at a certain level, the game did it for me. It's really only over maybe the past year that it's been feeling... off.

  • I remember one of the devs saying that Legion performs very well in low MMR

  • I think the modifier was pushed back to May 16, so I'd assume they're anticipating to have most sorted by then

  • BHVR don't work over the weekend. I imagine we will hear something at the start of their work week

  • Maybe they'll be unlocked in the developer's choice bundle at some stage?

With more and more cosmetics increasingly coming with bonus banners and badges, it feels like a secret puzzle only for insider-knowledge that I have to look up and google how to get these banners and badges, only once I start seeing them being ran in matches. If a cosmetic comes with a bonus cosmetic, such as the Chrysalis collection's banners, the Aftermath collection banner and badge, or for example even James Sunderlands' bonus charm, it would be so much more straightforward and helpful and user-friendly to include that in the "Included in the Outfit/Set" preview, such as like this:

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/R9B2WKFARCOD/image.png

This also would solve a question that many players have and only have to get the answer by spending money: "Can I get the bonus cosmetic if I only buy a piece of the set, or do I have to buy the whole set?"

In a similar vein, I think it is quite difficult (actually, impossible) for a new player to understand Visceral-rarity cosmetics include moris without being explicitly told by someone online or experiencing it in game, as there is absolutely NOTHING indicating there is a new mori attached to check out on the Outfit selection.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/S98N54BNQ0BY/image.png

Agreed. Currently I refer to this guide to keep track of badges and banners. The OP updates quicker than the WIKI does, but that's another option

This guide aims to document all the player profile badges and banners that can be obtained in the game....
  • If something works then I can't see them changing it. The game is successful because of the way it is now - gens and all. For older players yeah, it gets a bit stale. But the formula works and overhauling it is a huge risk from a business perspective. I think the Modifiers are a good breath of fresh air for players who feel the current gameplay is a bit boring.

Well, it is partially about the game. The hatch mechanic, and the fact that MMR only counts your personal escape, separately for every survivor instead of giving the win or lose to the "team" as a whole, as it's done in team games, proves that the devs incentivize such mindset. One might say that altruistic players who are ready to risk themselves in order to help teammates are playing in opposition to how the game was intended, since they risk losing their MMR by helping the team.

The game's sale description says you can play either as a lone wolf or a team.

    "Survive Together… Or Not
Survivors can either cooperate with the others or be selfish. Your chance of survival will vary depending on whether you work together as a team or if you go at it alone. Will you be able to outwit the Killer and escape their Killing Ground?"

Per MMR, it was changed not long ago that the result of team mates can influence your ranking. You get better MMR gains when team mates escape with you, and even if you die, you get better gains the more team mates that live. So there is a degree of variance. Hatch doesn't affect your MMR at all. It's neutral.

  • Definitely Wraith. He was so simple to pick up, honestly

  • I understand first hand how debilitating autoimmune diseases are. She is resting in peace now. My condolences to her family and friends, and those who love and will miss her.

  • They need to have a ping cap or something for games

  • If this is true, it's simply because survivor mains are all too aware of the issues plaguing the role. So we get it. As for me, I don't complain because I don't see it very often at all. I've played quite a bit over the past few days, since the update, and had one team mate give up on hook but it was on Haddonfield, we were at 5 gens, and everyone was dropping like flies. It was their second hook and they just didn't hit the skill checks. I understood, and just let them go. Game was over. I'm always suspect of killers who claim to see it every game. Big chance it might be that they play in a way that makes others not want to play with them.

  • It's a bug, lots of people are experiencing it

  • My queue times have been fine. I would expect queue times to take a bit longer on peak times because there's more duos and trios during that time than there would be off peak. So it probably is prone to a bit of backlogging that delays lobbies

  • The cold weather Jeff one just hit the store recently, so seems like they're slowly releasing them

  • This happening in half your games is pretty crazy. Last time this happened to me was back in Jan or Feb, and the time before that i cant even remember because it was so long ago. Any chance it might have been the same killer player you were getting matched with? Maybe he had it out for you?

Glueing yourself to a gen in order to die is great until the killer realizes that you've given up so they just grab you off the gen then let you bleed out

Honestly, that sucks. I'm that survivor that, when there's two people left and the game is clearly a loss, will place myself on a gen until the killer comes. But it's 50/50 whether the killer will hook me or leave me slugged. It's why I've kind of become indifferent to complaints about the final two survivors turning the game into hide and seek by trying to outlast each other. Sure that sucks for killers but so does having to do the heal/repeatedly knocked down/bleed out dance between the killer and final survivor. Just let me leave.

  • While the experience between versing solo and swf can be like night and day, I can't see the devs making any changes . They seem to focus alot on kill rates, and the difference in kill rates between solo and swfs is negligible in the largest MMR bracket, and slightly higher in high MMR (which is, per the devs, only a small percentage of the playerbase). And not every game you play would be facing these teams. Again, per the devs, solo makes up the bulk of the survivor base, then duos, then trios, and finally 4man swfs make up the smallest percentage. The biggest issue with matches, imo, is SBMM. There is way way too much variance in skill in matches these days. Something isn't working.

  • @appleas said:

Even if Distortion is fine as what people in this thread has been saying, the existence of the perk isn't really encouraging players to run aura perks apart from maybe Killers that can go undetectable either.

If encouraging perk diversity is the goal, Distortion definitely isn't helping.

I see Lethal Pursuer in at least every second to third game. I'd actually wager that the increase in Distortion use directly correlated to the increase in LPs perk usage. Much as Calm Spirit increased after UWs release. Unless all 4 survivors are running Distortion (which obviously happens but I'd say very rarely) people evidently still get value from aura perks. And BBQ isn't far behind LP in use, both are in the top 10 used killer perks. I've also seen a noticeable increase in Floods of Rage lately. People wouldn't pick these perks if they weren't getting value.

  • I'm assuming it was endgame since she went to the exit afterward? In which case, you'll be fine. Bodyblocking in endgame doesn't mean the same as blocking during the game, per a dev.

It'd make sense though having him in the game. His own game would be an expansion of his lore, but as far as DBD is concerned he just needs to be able to kill survivors
