People like to joke about the survivor rulebook, but are we maybe seeing the emergence of a killer rulebook? Thee shalt only useth thy perks for the benefit of thy self?

Killers really want everything in their favor
Yeah, it's crazy how many complaints I see about survivors helping out team mates. Which rulebook is it that says you can only use perks to help yourself and not others?
-
I think it's a strategy. And one that doesn't always pay off.
-
It's fine. I'm currently running Empathy, Deja Vu, and Alert. Ultimate Weapon and Mindbreaker cancel those out, as do any Blindness add ons. I'm not forced to run those perks, I make a choice to. I can choose to not run all info perks if I want to ensure I get more value but I don't mind the risk. You need to weigh that up.

Dead By Burnout
For old and new player alike. As there is all the stuff about being an old player, but being a new player I feel causes a higher burnout rate. Like when 29.4% of all players on steam have the achievement "Get a character to prestige 1". That means nearly 71% don't even get that far with the game.I just looked on my PS app and that achievement is at 32.8%. Kind of eye opening tbh.
-
Yeah I've been patiently waiting for Zarina's On The Move fit. I have it on my old platform but need it on the PS5. I love the shirt.

The most boring match you *chose to deal with
Lol fixed the title for you

Because people misinterpret or over interpret what these things are for.
DS is just a 5 sec stun if downed again off hook, its not some specific "anti-tunnel" mechanic and can be used as a player sees fit.
Word of advice if leveraging a mechanic more aggressively rather than defensively, don't complain about being slugged or tunneled.
A counter to a player using DS to bait a killer is to slug, just like a counter to a player using built in BT to block a killer is to down and re-hook them, AKA tunnel.
Its just gameplay. If you have DS and you get chased off hook and jump in a locker then that's just using DS effectively. Same goes for taking protection hits knowing you have DS up your sleeve.
I can see some issues with built in BT/DS combined because endurance is there to help you escape but running DS gives you an incentive to body block for greater effect. Which is a lil crap for killer players who aren't trying to target the unhooked survivor.
Even with that very minor quibble, we are still a long way from the old days of DS/UB lose/lose endgame plays.
Not usually in agreement with alot of things with you, but this is pretty spot on. Sums up my feelings on the matter.

DS is intended to be an anti-tunnel perk, which is why the conspicuous action list was added. But the conspicuous action list isn't good enough, because many people are still weaponizing DS against killers that weren't trying to tunnel.
Using pre-nerfed Eruption to hold an extended 3 gen, was considered using a perk "wrong", which is why that perk got nerfed.
And the "feels like a strat that people don't like" statement doesn't work, because BHVR nerfed extended 3 gens and facecamping, and they were "strats that people don't like".
I think you've gotten some things mixed up. Eruption was never considered used "wrong" based on 3 genning. If you read the patch notes, it was the Incapacitated effect that BHVR felt was oppressive. They said they were retiring that from perks now because no one should play a game that forces them to stand around for long periods of time unable to do a single thing. How it was used by killers wasn't mentioned at all. 3 genning was the only thing BHVR said was the game being played as not intended.

It's very possible.
Stay healed as much as you can and stay patient. Don't try to blast through gens while you're injured. The trial doesn't automatically end until the 60 minute mark.
Watch your HUD and don't be afraid to get off a gen if you're not sure where he is. Remember that he has aura reading on you, so position safely at a pallet or window.
Pay attention to how fast he's moving. He physically cannot catch up to you without blood lust/PWYF if you hug tiles when you loop them.
My general strategy is to frustrate them and get them to start over committing. Every time they see my aura, I'm positioned safely. Don't fall for it when they act like they're breaking chase. 99.999999999999999999% of Scratched Mirror players are waiting on the other side of the wall. Just stand and wait, especially if you see your teammates on gens and no chase indicators on the HUD. Let Myers waste his own time trying to ambush you. You don't have to be in chase to occupy the killer.
"99.999999999999999999% of Scratched Mirror players are waiting on the other side of the wall"
This made me smile, it's so true

Yeah, I agree. Stealth killers have small auditory tells too, which will be hard to hear with people chattering in your ear. And if you opt out of using it (because insults, slurs, sexism, racism - take your pick) then any complaints you have about the game will just be dismissed as 'well, too bad. Your fault for not using voice chat.' Also I'm in Western Australia and apparently we are closer to the Asia server because I play with alot of folks from over there based on usernames. I imagine language would be a barrier as well.
-
I like the 2000 auric cell battlepass option too. Good addition 👍
-
Whenever I'm bored of it I just play something else for awhile. Eventually my interest gets rekindled. I feel like this is normal.
-
Because solo queue makes up the fast majority of the survivor base. I'm sure someone else will have the numbers but one of the devs once put 4man swfs at like 3% of the survivor base. With trios slightly higher, and duos a bit higher than that. So saying solo queue players "aren't needed in the game" is a pretty big take. Not to mention alot of people play both roles, so if the solo survivor experience gets increasingly worse and a bunch of players leave the game, then they've potentially lost killers too.
-
Ive seen this a number of times. Most people catch on though when the killer opens the gate and leaves a person on the ground. You can see on the HUD that your team mate didn't open the gate. Most people leave.
-
Last time I played against one was on Midwich (he brought the offering) and I had Shadow Step. It countered him pretty good, I just kept moving the boon to keep gens covered as best I could. Unfortunately I got matched with him the next game too and he made sure to get me out asap lmao
-
I just keep a note on my phone of players to dodge if I get matched with them. I know that's obviously not the same thing, as people can change their usernames or go anonymous, plus you don't know who is playing killer in lobby. But it's something.

It must be afflicting PC players more because I am on PS5 and have not experienced any rubber banding. Its funny its usually the other way around when this stuff happens. Console usually gets it worse.
I'm PS5 and experiencing it. I got thrown into a pig pen earlier and couldn't get out for awhile lol every time I tried it kept throwing me back
Watch "unnamed" on Streamable. -
I just like variety with my perks. I get bored easily. I'm usually doing a daily or tome challenge, so tend to pick perks to help get those done. But I do prefer perks that help the team as a whole. And I'll die to save others no problem. I just had a game where the killer brought Haddonfield offering and steam rolled us at 5 gens. There were two of us left - me on death hook, and other survivor just got first hooked. I unhooked her and dropped my key for her, then I ran off to intercept the incoming killer. She had more of a chance of surviving for hatch play than I did, so I may as well give her every opportunity.
-
My games have been fine, aside from the rubberbanding and once I had the strobing, which is obviously a massive concern. I havent experienced map issues, except for the horrificness that is new Haddonfield... I have no idea why that went unchanged. I've only had one tunneller this week, the target me (which was fair, I ran her for 3 gens so she was right to focus on me) but no DCs or letting go on hook. The Plague thing I believe is just that DS now stuns her out of her Corrupt purge, which is apparently intentional and not a bug.
-
MMR in this game leaves much to be desired
-
They only have limited bandwidth per update. If they didnt release the store update now, then when? I believe next major update is the Anniversary chapter, which will be a full update and leave little space for anything further. Pushing updates back isn't as easy as you think it is. They don't have the bandwidth to update willy nilly.
-
He's actually one of my favourites to go against. I'm not too sure why, I just enjoy trying to mind game him
-
Happening to a number of us. Ive only had a couple games that were unplayable because of it though, the rest were okay aside from some random rubberbanding at inconvenient moments. The devs are aware of it anyway

I'm not concerned with what he posted. I was just confused on the meaning of his words.
I can't think of a time where I didn't do gens that wasn't for a challenge, so it just makes it hilarious to me that he took so much offense to how I was playing.
Yeah, some people take gaming very seriously. It's why I'm happy to play on console so I don't have to put up these folk lol it's a game, it's not that deep
-
They're saying you don't do generators, and telling any future team mates who match with you to leave the lobby, ie don't play with you. Just ignore it. Most people won't check your profile

For a few seconds only. So I guess he would be okay with Plague not being able to red puke for like 5 seconds after getting DS'd rather than outright lose it.
Cheers for clarifying. I feel like it'd probably be a bit difficult to code that in, switching off her purge for a few seconds at a time. But then I'm not a developer lol

"DS should disable killer's power" has been a popular suggestion to level the playingfield between killers for quite some time. I just don't think anyone considered Plague would be the first one hit, she's not exactly on the level of Blight and Nurse.
I'm not particularly concerned about DS, but I do think that could make Blast Mine a little problematic for Plague players. You now can't take 2 seconds to kick a gen while in power, and with how effective gen kicking is now to gen defence, that's going to significantly affect how people play her.
I could be wrong but didn't Otz have a recent video too saying that DS should disable a killer's power? Or am I misunderstanding maybe?
-
Pick the other guy up and hook him while she lays useless to her team. Then just eat the DS and continue chasing her because you're better off getting her while she's injured than letting her fully recover with PT

I wouldn't blame people if they quit for the reason BEHIND the Adrenaline nerf, but I doubt most understand it.
More solo queue kill fodder?
-
I doubt she'll ever have a rework. Some tweaks here and there sure, but not a rework. I just push through when I see it's her and accept i'll probably be bled out and humped on the ground for no reason.
-
I've only had one tunnelling killer since the update, and since they were tunnelling me I havent yet seen anyone use or get value from it. My games seem the same as usual.
-
I've always felt like a limited blocklist could work. Like everyone has 5 people they can block. If you want to add another person to a full list then you need to remove someone already on there. So it'd be a very slim chance of someone feeling the effects of that, unless you were a super horrible person that everyone hated playing with.
-
I think this is why they have things like the Fog Whisperer program. So people can just turn to content creators to learn the ins and outs. Saves BHVR the time and resources.
-
I think because every time they've had to turn off the DC penalty in the past, people just constantly DC and go next
-
That would probably make it predictable tbh and easier to find. For example I guarantee a hex would never be in killer shack or on a totem near a gen. Killers would place them on more isolated totems but once you're familiar with totem spawns you'll find them no worries, without having to check the more obvious spots
-
Someone is having a laugh, surely 😭
-
I'm curious too. It hasn't really been updated anywhere
-
I think longterm people would be more inclined to quit the game than anything else. Even those who are good in chase would get tired of being tunnelled consistently. Thankfully I don't believe tunnelling is that consistent (I see it maybe once every 12 games when I play survivor) but if I were seeing it every game or so I'd probably just find a different game to play. Not everyone strives to be a god looper, some people just want to kick back and kill some time
-
I doubt it... I can think of a dozen reasons why someone might quit the game but I doubt it's solely because of Adrenaline. That could be the final nail but not the reason.
-
Would Forced Hesitation work against it?
-
After the PTB, they said they would be changing the perk a third time in a future update to bring back the scream. I guess this is the future update!

I believe Having less players should results in faster matchmaking, at least that's what it is for killers
If it's peak time though, then you'd have alot more duos and trios playing. So it might take a bit longer for the game to squeeze you into an appropriate lobby if you're playing solo.
-
I'd love a Stranger Things chapter 2!

I cannot for the life of me understand how RPD is disabled but potential energy isn't. What I mean by that is: why aren't both killswitched. Both are a problem. Is it that hard to killswitch something?
I know this is not related to the lag issues, but with that many things broken right now, the best solution is probably to disable it.
This update should have gone through multiple hoops before going live.
I have no idea. If history has shown us anything it's that they don't killswitch perks all that often at all, no matter how much they're bugged
-
They're aware. I saw a post on social media from the devs acknowledging it and saying its being looked into. I havent checked the Bugs section but it'll probably be marked in there as being under investigation
-
It's known as proxy camping, so yeah it fits the bill. You'll usually have to hook trade in those scenarios. Difficult in solo queue but alternating hook states among team mates is probably the best way to go if a killer does it all game.
-
I've been playing for over 3 years and have never waited long for a match. Maybe depends on the time of day you play? Ie peak vs non-peak? It's almost 10am where i am, 100% survivor incentive, and I'm getting instant games.
