    Far more than that.

Turning Mori animations into an endgame/4k thing changes many things, including playstyle and general mindset (not to mention effectively removing Devour Hope and Rancor, two already rare perks, due to their unique functionality being gone, further reducing Killer perk variety in an already declining state every update ever since 7.5.0).

More importantly, if the only way to see a mori is to 4k, it will basically guarantee that nearly every game, the Killer will slug for the 4k.

It would also makes it even worse since instead of hooking one and then killing the last, the Killer (in order to prevent a possible Hatch/Unbreakable play by the last Survivor) would down the last Survivor and then wait over the Survivor with the highest remaining bleedout timer in order to guarantee the mori the instant the other one dies (after doing nothing for 4 minutes and wasting the maximum amount of time possible).

This would eventually turn the mori animations into a chore, especially in low mmr where 4ks are common, and they would go from something special to just some endgame cutscene (likely bugged/obstructed anyway) that people would get tired of really quickly.

With Mori animations being "locked" behind victory, this will also drastically increase tunnelling, proxy-camping and slugging in order to see the "victory cutscene". I'd wager this would make many people treat mori animation as a form of bm (further rubbing in their face their loss by extending the game).

Do people really want games to be even more sweaty and stale? It's bad enough that the Killer meta is arguably the most stale it's been in years and tunnelling (and by proxy Survivors going next on 1st hook) has gone up since 7.5.0, we don't need something to encourage people to play in a way that ruins the fun for everyone involved while having even less chance to see different perks.

"it will basically guarantee that nearly every game, the Killer will slug for the 4k."

100% this. Same issue I had the first time around. If they monetise moris then as a survivor I expect I'll be spending alot of time on the ground, particularly if I'm one of the last two left, so the killer can get their monies worth. I'm positive people will just let go on hook in unwinnable games to avoid being in the dreaded last two.

  • Had this same issue on Toba's Landing (opened a separate report) trying to unhook a team mate. Also in the modifier

  • Did you call them out on stream? I would have personally

  • Played against him twice yesterday

As I said, it's an unbalanced easy mode for survivors. But w/e, as you said, it's an optional thing, I'm just expressing my opinion and experience with it.

And that's fair enough. The results of my games have been pretty much the same as regular mode (not winning any more or less) but the games themselves have been alot more fun, unpredictable, and if anything they feel alot closer in terms of skill. There's been no real steamrolls from either side.

  • @Green_Sliche said:

More than half of killer roster is literally unplayable because they require at least semi-decent perks but sure, make this unbalanced mode permanent. Most fun mode to play as survivor, especially when killer has 0 gen slowdowns and 0 detection perks.

It's optional. You can still play regular DBD. No one is asking for the modifier to replace the actual game.

What do you think of BHVR's current focus on licences that aren't entirely horror? I'd personally prefer we get some more core properties before expanding into the weirder stuff, although I do appreciate the current collaborations.

I think that Video Game horror especially could use some more reps, which is another reason why Castlevania is cool (aside from the fact it just rocks). Dead Space, Amnesia, Slender (he kinda counts), FNAF would all be pretty sweet in my eyes.

You asked in your OP if certain fans could be detrimental to the game, and I honestly feel like FNAF falls into that category. I read that majority of FNAF players are mostly between the ages of 12 and 17. Not that it doesn't have adult fans, because of course it does, lots of adults grew up on FNAF and that's cool. But I really don't wanna be playing with 12 year olds. Or more 12 year olds at any rate, because the way some people behave in this game I'm convinced they're no older than that anyway. My kids have been massive FNAF fans for a few years now (they're 9 and 7) and so it's kind of hard for me to see FNAF as anything but a kids game. They have the legos, plushies, and books, and all the marketing is towards kids.

But yeah, I do think there's plenty of horror video games that could crossover into the game easily. I don't mind the occasional non horror chapter though, as long as it's fun. And this upcoming chapter actually looks like a heap of fun.

  • I actually agree. I tend to use non-meta perks and change up my builds frequently as is, but obviously your games are still pretty beholden to the meta that killers and your team mates bring. This mode is definitely a breath of fresh air. I've had games where my perks have been absolutely useless and I've essentially had to play perkless, and it's nice knowing everyone else is playing the cards they're dealt too and may have to rely solely on mindgaming or falling back on whatever skilled plays they might have up their sleeves. Ive had the last few days to myself, with my hubby on a fishing trip with mates and my kids at my mum's house, and I haven't touched regular DBD once. Just been playing the modifier for way longer than I'm sure is reasonable lmao I'd love to keep it

3 Genning is still a thing, just not infinite like it was before. Instead of infinite defense like before you can simply just rely on the complete opposite and play aggressively to hold down the 3 gen. When you have multiple gen regression perks going against you, drones surrounding the entire area preventing you from properly looping, and solo queue communication it's pretty easy to lock down an area, even more so if it's a small map, or more than likely a teammate already dead by then.

And as for the Knight, he's been bugged since last December making his AI absolutely pathetic, not even considering how bad his power is in the first place. And I know that too since he's one of my mains. There's the standard which is absolutely easy to get and the fact that sure, the AI may push them away from the area, but more than likely they just won't be able to do anything else besides that leading to a much more beatable scenario then SM.

Also depends on map RNG. I was saying in another thread I had a SM the other day lock down a 3 gen area with the help of the map. One gen was in a corner tile, with the large MacMillan wood pile blocking one side and creating a sort of corridor with another gen. Then to the left was a third gen but the only way to access it without going past SM was a small path between shack and a crappily placed hill. There were no tiles or pallets between the hill and edge map when running away, and the hill entrance was where she was standing, so she could just drop down and it was a guaranteed hit. So the corner gen was inaccessible, and the other two were right where she was. The whole corridor and couple of escape routes were just drones. I've been playing like 3.5 years and it was hands down top 5 worst games I've ever played. The 3 gen mechanic did nothing because if we managed to get to a gen through all that we'd just ended up exposed either going in or out, and she had haste . Everyone tried, to their credit, but once it had dragged on too long people just slowly went afk, myself included. I went and did the dishes. When I heard my survivor scream from being found and hooked, she stood there just hitting me. I wish I filmed the set up she had, there was no chance.

  • As a survivor main, I disagree with basekit changes. Perks, yes. Because then those of us who don't see tunnelling alot can continue as normal, and those who do see it alot have perk options. I feel like that is a good compromise.

  • Medkit, with or without extra charges

There was another Slasher Radio interview with Cote earlier today and he said that they can't add a licensed skin on another licensed character. He also said that DnD Vecna doesn't prevent ST Vecna from being added later down the line as they are 2 different franchises and not connected.

So it doesn't seem like a Stranger Things tie in with this chapter is happening or even possible.

I literally just read this interview and came back to edit my comment but you beat me to it lol seems there's no issue with two Vecna's from the devs POV

  • Doubt it. BHVR would be out of pocket for both licenses, and i cant see contracts allowing any sort of crossover. Theyd be better off as stand alone. If we ever get another ST tie-in, I wouldn't be surprised if it's just survivors. David Harbour has already given his likeness to Alone In The Dark, so Hopper wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility imo. But not Vecna. I can't see us having two of them lol

  • It was one of the top 5 least enjoyable games I've played so far. I will acknowledge a lot of that was the perfect RNG of the map we got, but she was all too quick and ready to drag the game for as long as necessary. I returned to the room when I heard my survivor scream from being hooked, so I could just let go, and she was standing there hitting me like I was the one who frustrated her. Dude, some self awareness please...

  • They're not all different now though. I had a SM the other day who had the perfect corridor almost of a 3 gen. The way a tile, shack, wood pile, and the hill were situated, she just holed up there from the start. She could defend the one gen that we could reach indefinitely, because the other two were in the corridor that required taking down numerous drones before we could reach it or get away, and the one she stayed next to was next to shack, which had the hill right next to it, so we had one small path to it but no protection. It's hard to explain. Or we could run through and just get immediately exposed of course. No one DCd or let go on hook but when it had dragged on long enough everyone just slowly went afk, myself included. I went and did the dishes. 3 gen mechanic didn't matter because we couldn't even get to the gens.

  • First - I love when the devs feed us stats. So thank you.

    Second - IMPENDING ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE??

    tumblr_mekicjDqgx1rv7cdvo1_500.gif
  • Probably but what can you do? Technology is only going to get better and better, you either keep up or fall behind. If it gives you an advantage, well, so be it.

  • Hiding prestige is a common request among the playerbase. BHVR said last year they were doing some testing around it but we haven't heard an update unfortunately. But yes, many of us think it should be hidden until endgame.

  • @Peanits said:

To quickly clear up a misconception, modifiers do use your MMR to help find you a match, but they will not cause your MMR to change. This way you can enjoy them without worrying about messing up your rating in the regular queue.

Thanks for clarifying! Seems it's working well for me

Quality has improved indeed. Even though I mostly get destroyed still way less in the first few minutes

Oh yeah, we're still losing more than winning 😅 but games are close and everyone is pulling their weight and not scared to take risks. I'm having a ball tbh. It could possibly be saying something about the people who pick this mode though - such as theyre more confident in general - as opposed to those who prefer to pick their own perks and stay in regular game mode (nothing wrong with that of course)

  • It's funny, it feels like I'm getting better- suited team mates with SBMM off than I do when it's on 😅

  • I'm not sure why they'd interpret it as that since it activates when the killer picks up a downed team mate. Why would you need to escape a killer who is picking up a downed team mate? Common sense says it's used exactly as it was intended to be used

  • I've had Low Profile, For The People, and Small Game a number of times. Overall though I've had good variety

  • Yup, I love it lol not going back to regular DBD until it's over

  • Until they stop removing pallets in map reworks, or at least stop giving us rubbish pallets like the new edge map ones, I say keep it as it is. There's a reason it's so popular, and it's not because it's OP. Maps are full of deadzones nowadays.

What was the Meg cosmetic, if you don't mind me asking. I missed the pop ups

  • @Skillfulstone said:

I mean, the tunnelling (and by proxy Survivors going next more often) is a direct result of many changes that started with the "Anti-3-gen" implemented in 7.5.0, the regression limit killed most regression perks and many non-regression kick perks overnight leaving Pop and Pain Res the only viable slowdown options for Killers on the weaker end of the spectrum, there's a reason Surge and Eruption are barely seen compared to before.

Then STBFL and Sloppy/all Mangled & Hemorrhage add-ons (both good perks that the top-tiers didn't use that often due to being M1-based perks) got nerfed hard so non-regression options were further reduced (at higher MMR, Survivors won't heal through the Mangled/Hemorrhage and will simply slam gens until they can heal at normal speed, making the perk almost worthless after a certain threshold of experience).

Then later Ultimate Weapon was nerfed into oblivion (literally never saw a single Killer using this in my games since the nerf) so another one of the perks that was used to stay in chase often instead of relying on gen-slowdown was killed, further reducing options.

And now the devs want to nerf the last few slowdown perks remaining. How are weaker/M1 Killers supposed to compete against decent teams with less and less options to slow down gens other than playing more aggressively?

I hate the current state of the game that started in 7.5.0 and worsened to this day, perk variety died and the Anti-3-gen, despite being a good idea on paper, killed variety by working the whole trial, if it only kicked-in at 2 gens left (to account for area-denial Killers and nasty 4-gen spawns in smaller maps) it would open the doors to non-regression kick perks and other regression perks again while still preventing endless games and remove some pressure from the weaker Killers.

I've been playing for well over 3 years and tunnelling has probably been the most prominent complaint I've seen in that time. I personally don't see it that much (according to my stats about 1 in every 12 games) but thinking this started with update 7.5 is just plain wrong lol and the big perk overhaul update of 6.1 happened because of lack of variety in perks and builds. Again, not a direct result of 7.5. It went much further back than that.

  • Is it birds? I thought it was like crickets or something lol I'm literally looking for a match as I type and now can't unhear them

Did it pop up saying you got it or was it just in your inventory?

I don't know sorry, I usually just load up the game and go do something else in the meantime

  • I've had Low Profile for 3 games in a row lol so much for shuffle!

  • My second game was a Nurse lol they won but the game was fine, they spread out hooks and didn't slug etc

  • Yeah I agree. The updates happen at 11pm for me so I decided to hop on for one game last night but accidentally ended up playing alot more 😬 feeling it this morning lol

  • Yeah I got the torso. But I recall them saying you had a period of time in which to claim it, not just the one day. Unless I misheard

  • I'd use it if there weren't so many downsides. Either remove the cooldown or injured requirement.

  • @albertoplus said:

Kinda interesting to still see people saying "hatch is not a win" while the game gives points to the survivor who escapes (less than escaping through the gates, but still) and denies the sacrifice points the killer would have.

The game treats hatch escape as a win.

People say that because it's what the devs have said. They said the game considers hatch null and void, and doesn't see it as an escape. When they release official kill/escape rates, hatch isnt counted at all. You get points for alot of things in the game, so not sure why hatch would be any different. And obviously the killer doesn't get points for a kill that didn't happen. But ultimately, most hatch escapes happen once 3 people are dead, ie the killer has won the game at that point

  • I just had two games in a row of this, so I'm bringing Exponential for the rest of today lol maybe they'll decide to hook me when I keep picking myself up and being a PITA

  • There's alot of people with IRL inadequacies that like to talk tough online. These people would never do it to your face because they're too cowardly, so they get their power trip from behind the safety of a screen. Block your profile from public comments and don't engage with endgame chat. Just leave a gg and move on. These folks want a rise out of you and will be disappointed when you don't bite back

  • Rick Grimes or some other Walking Dead character. I'm pretty sure they got added to Fortnite not long ago so stands to reason they're open to collabs

  • It sucks. Makes me wish I was fortunate enough to die second. I dump all my clean clothes in the theatre room to be folded when this happens, so at least I get some housework done.

  • Same. Loved the stream but that part put a dampener on my mood for sure

When i was a kid, my grandmother (who we called Nana Farm since she, well, had a farm lol) had a jersey cow called Baby. She loved her so much, I have such fond memories of her and my grandmother 🥰

  • Alot of the time it simply comes down to moderator's discretion. I used to moderate for a popular gaming company back in the Facebook game days (showing my age here lol) and we had the same forum rules about bypassing the filter, and having mods from all corners of the world meant that sometimes one mod would interpret something one way while another would think it's fine. Just as an example.

  • I tuned in, but have my favourite, a Jersey cow, in thanks for your time and effort

i find it surprising that near sight reveals the killer but does not reveal totems. If it revealed totems, it might be a decent perk for totem cleansing.

Agreed. I'd use it if it revealed totems but not as it is now. Maps are increasingly barren with alot less clutter and a good enough view that I don't need to know if the killer is within 18m of me. Chances are I can see that or hear the terror radius. Plunderers is better for chests, and I'd rather bring Deja Vu or a map for gens.

  • I think the survivor and killer perks are all pretty safe perks, and tbh I'm fine with it. It'd be nice to have a chapter release where everyone isn't crying over the other side's toys

  • No. They said at the time that they didn't want people picking their perks based on the killer's power, so they were moving away from any synergy between perks and powers.
