Couple reasons I think. One is that you have a lot of team mates who can pick you up. And you can pick yourself up when the team is down in numbers. Both act as deterrents for killers to slug (and if a killer is camping your body then he's not running around slugging all your team mates instead of hooking). The devs also can see how long people spend on the ground and when. If full team slugs were common enough then I imagine they'd do something about it. As it stands, I've played a heck of a lot of 2v8 and it's rare I've been left slugged.
-
I'm guessing a survivor uses a yellow herb. That removes a hook/cage state
-
There was a similar option back in the old event mode survey. I think it was one of the more popular options

It's extremely satisfying, but I do not really go for them.
My sensitivity is also incredibly high (100%) on console so it takes a little practice with myself and flashlights.
I don't even really use them in all honesty, especially with how common Lightborne is — but it is satisfying to do anything with the flashlight for sure. 😅 I know some people think flashlighting at a pallet wastes time or distance, but eh I disagree.
I'm also a console user on 100% camera sensitivity lol I've been playing this game for 4 years now and it's only been recently I've started practising flashlights. Never brought one into a game and when i would find one in a chest I'd leave it. Now when I find them in 2v8 and I'm against a Nemesis, I find and practise on his zombies just so I can get used to the camera angle required. I got my first flashlight blind on a killer yesterday
-
FWIW I won't be using it. Even if I think someone has the worst take ever 😅
-
I'm going for yes, purely because I'm getting so many older tome challenges I've been avoiding done. Pop 20 gens? Much easier in this mode lol

Alright, thank you for the clarification.

Pretty much what I was thinking.
I've reported a lot of different people for many varied reasons, often working with Killer, but I guess it didn't matter now, as I wasn't reporting the case with video evidence.😞
RIP.
As someone who has recorded and reported many instances of killers and survivors working together, I have yet to receive a single notification of action being taken. So I honestly wouldn't bother reporting that. It's against the rules but I think it's less of a priority to Support than most other stuff

the bickering is why I’ve cut down my forums time. I used to be on here a lot more but it’s just exhausting.
As a personal rule, I try avoid the 'this game is x-sided' topics for my own sanity, but I couldn't avoid them this time since they're currently everywhere lol

Thats an item efficiency penalty, not a speed penalty. Why would anyone double a gen if it doesn't repair faster?
Doubling on a gen does repair faster than if only one person were on there, but you'll get overall more gen progress if you split up because there's a basekit penalty on co-op. That would be what they're referring to. It's why experienced players will always split up at the start of the game. It's more efficient for everyone to be on separate gens than all on the same one.

All the "it's a killer sided update" vs "it's a survivor sided update" posts on this forum are giving me whiplash lol I think both sides are getting some give and take in this update

Like my problem is you cant even tell a killer is camping the slugged bodies and this is an active, less committal way to win than go for hooks. If anything this incentivizes slugging as a potentially faster win condition. while I'm sure stuff needs more time to work through anti slugging i think that should be put in the game before making slugging more appealing.
Very rarely have I had a killer camp my slugged body, but when I have I will crawl in the opposite direction away from my team mates. The killer usually thinks you're leading them to a survivor, so you can crawl and eventually stop near some lockers and just waste their time (they'll check the lockers too). Yeah it's easier if you're in a swf and communicating, but that's like with everything in this game lol at the very least the killer will leave or hook me once he realizes I'm just messing around. If you notice a team mate coming, you can also stop and shake yourself to communicate 'no.' That's become more commonplace recently, due to the rise in slugging a new mode of communication has been created lol
-
I'd just do a gen in this scenario. And if I'm the one slugged and camped then I hope my team mates just do gens
-
I don't think it has anything to do with them being anti-killer. It's purely about retaining new players from the FNAF chapter. This health update is them addressing unpleasant play styles that will potentially drive said newcomers away. They don't want new players coming and being slugged on the ground to bleed out, or being tunnelled out within a couple of minutes of the game, because they know it gives the game a bad look. It's the same reason they're penalising going next as well. They know when 99% of the games for the 3 months after the chapter are going to be against Springtrap, that survivors will start going next more frequently. They don't want that to be a new potential killer main's experience with the game.
The changes aren't personal. It's purely business at the end of the day.

My husband rarely ever watches me play but on one of the rare occasions when he did, it happened to be a game where a Pyramid Head dropped me on one of the Badham mattresses and was doing his "thing." I'll never forget the look on my hubby's face lol he's like "THIS is the game you're always playing??"

I think its someone whos throwing or probably new tbh. Then again i see people have like self care with strength in shadows or circle with self care. Overall yeah people can have some quite interesting builds. I stop running exhaust perks 3 years now since 6.1 so mm I guess it's quite weird whenever I see someone doing it knowing youncant do more than one at a time.
I don't use them either. I used to run Overcome after Jonah came out but drifted away from that after a time. I don't think there's anything wrong with using them though. At the end of the day, you want to buy time for your team and if exhaustion perks help with that then so be it. But yeah, when I first started playing exhaustion perks were always presented as like a necessity when discussing perks. It was like starting a Pokemon quest and you had to pick your starter 🤣 Sprint Burst, Lithe, or Balanced Landing? Two is definitely unusual lol

As for the killer scenario, if my 3 team mates are slugged then I'm happy to give myself up to be downed and give everyone a quick surrender. I'm sure other survivors might do the same. I might cop a penalty for it but whatever, I can go play another game. It doesn't happen often enough to concern me.This is a paradox that is emerging in DbD's design (and potentially has always been there). Back in the two hour server days and the hatch standoffs, devs have said they never imagined how long players would try to wait something out for a perceived victory.
On the other hand, saying 'let's just get this game over with' will also be punished?
I strongly dislike when DbD becomes a farce. 2 survivors dead, 3 gens to go, killer won, no problem on my end, let's get this over with instead of spending 10 minutes hiding, gen tapping, etc. I do worry that the new changes will require the survivors to pretend like there is still a competitive match going on or face punishment.
"I do worry that the new changes will require the survivors to pretend like there is still a competitive match going on or face punishment"
There's a good chance this is what is intended. I guess I can put up a half-assed chase if I need to for the sake of appearances but I'm pretty stubborn lol I'll cop a penalty if I'm in an unpleasant situation rather than pretend it's all okay
-
Alot of players play both sides. Most have a preference for survivor or killer, but regardless, the current issue with queue times (and survivor incentive) is that 2v8 is the only mode that allows you to play killer with a friend. So yeah, that is currently the role preference. The incentive is in both queues so that one mode doesn't bleed players chasing bps.
-
I can't imagine the swf scenario happening tbh. And even if it did, the game would be over fast so as killer the most you've wasted is a few min of lobby time.

In the long term, this is a good thing. It will allow the devs to actually see how well certain killers perform and update them accordingly

Idk why people feel the need to catastrophize everything like BHVR is gonna penalize people who stand still for half a second.
I'm sure it has to be extreme like a full minute or something like there are ways to introduce these systems in intelligent ways so let's just see what they do and critique it from there instead of theoretical systems that don't exist.
Normally I'm saying the exact same thing, but for this particular update I think theoreticals are important. We are having events and chapters pushed back for this, so BHVR need to get it right. We've seen in the past that when something doesn't work, the devs usually just dump it and it doesn't get addressed for years.
Most of the playerbase seems to be in agreement that a health chapter is necessary, so instead of my usual "wait and see" approach, I think it's important this time around to help the devs cross the T's and dot the I's. They have limited bandwidth for updates and can only change so much each year.
-
It's got me thinking about a scenario I often find myself in.
1v2 with multiple gens to go. I'm not interested in hiding for hatch so will often stick to a gen until i get grabbed off. Alot of the time the killer drops me to the ground to go find the other survivor. The extreme hiding change means the other survivor will likely keep picking me up, extending the game. If I keep hopping on my gen and keep getting grabbed off, am I likely to be penalised? If the game is unwinnable I don't want to prolong it.
-
@HeroLives said:
I personally can’t be bothered to hide in a 2v1. I’ll be on the gen until I’m pryed off it in 2v1, and I’ll look the killer dead in the eyes bc we both know exactly what’s going on, and doing one isn’t in my best interest. Both victims of a flawed in game mechanic.
I do this too. Then i get dropped on the floor to bleed out while they try find the other survivor. The extreme hiding change means my team mate is more likely to pick me up now, so it'll be rinse and repeat - keep getting grabbed off a gen, dropped on the floor. Extending an unwinnable game. I'd like a surrender option in this scenario too.
Edit: and it just occurred to me - with the new go next deterrent, does this mean letting myself get grabbed off gen in this scenario will penalise me?

I might be in the minority, but I think Go Next Prevention will be a disaster without some serious nuance built into it on top of vastly improved matchmaking. There is zero reason that the developers should expect survivors to stay in a game when a survivor is dead at 3 gens, or other near zero win probability situations. This is not community service. It's a video game, and it's supposed to be fun.
When players say they find half their trials unfun, they mean it. When you put together disposable matchups, players will treat them like it (disposable). It is so beyond entitled to sit there and penalize going next over fixing your matchmaking algorithm that puts players in unwinnable games 25% of the time.
Agreed. I'm cautiously optimistic about these health updates. I feel like this stuff is definitely needed, but I also have been playing long enough and seen enough changes that I truly do think the devs are quite out of touch with the playerbase and I'm trying to give them the benefit of the doubt. They need to get this right, and proper matchmaking is at the core of this all.
-
Yeah basically, but once you started going through the ranks things started to even out. I remember purposely staying at purple rank because it was where my games and team mates + opponents felt more comfortable and on my level. Going into gold rank, it started getting more sweaty. In some ways I guess it was kind of like an MMR system you could see and manipulate? Not sure how else to describe my experience
-
Yeah the update sounds promising but this all occurred to me as well. I don't have a problem with just giving myself up when it's an unwinnable 1v2, but they're likely to leave me on the ground to try find the 4th survivor. Happens all the time.
-
I'm not too fussed about the bp. I'm currently playing 2v8 though because it's easy to get alot of the older, more time consuming tome challenges done fast in this mode. I'm sure I'm not the only one doing this. I doubt that sort of stuff will show in their stats though lol it'll just come off as the incentive working
-
Pretty sure this is an ongoing bug that was happening in regular games prior to 2v8. Just hasn't been fixed yet.

Mending sucks yeah, just go to a pallet, stun em when they hit you and they don't have power (Or outplay them a different way)! It is actually that simple
It's also simple as Legion to respect pallets. Acting like stunning them is a given by just going to a pallet is being disingenuous. It's not that hard to avoid a pallet stun.

Wait, can the killers see them go down? That'd be kinda funny actually XD
No, just survivors lol if you're only playing killer in 2v8 then yeah, that'd be why you haven't noticed the bots taking them
-
@Rulebreaker said:
On a personal level the yellow herbs bug us a bit but they're overall fine for the mode. We wouldn't want them in normals but a nice chaotic mode like this doesn't do much harm and killers can break them as well so theres that wonky balancing act. Strangely despite claims from the above we've yet to see a bot actually use them.
Gotta watch their hook states. I consistently watch them go down, that's how I know.
-
The constant mending is very tedious

@PleaseRewind said:
They are trash but that being said my last game both times I was put in a cage it was the same bot that saved me. None of the human players even attempted the save. So my hat goes off to that Haddie bot!
They're programmed to prioritise unhooks. You'll notice that if one is healing you or on a gen, they'll immediately stop the moment someone gets caged and run off. I'll unhook for the bp if nearby, but if there are bots in the game and someone is caged a distance away I won't bother going for the unhook. More efficient to remain on a gen and let the bots get it since they'll be inevitably already on their way. I imagine lots of others do the same.
-
@I_Cant_Loop said:
I don’t understand the rationale behind continuing to test with bots. There has been overwhelming feedback that people do not want to play with bots, period. They said that bots didn’t help enough to shorten killer queue times, and one bot is going to help even less, so why even have that one bot? Just get rid of them altogether, which is what most players have been asking for. It’s very unfortunate that it took a huge amount of community outcry to make this happen. The mess could have been prevented from the start if BHVR would have listened to everyone who was telling them what a terrible idea it was.
I suspect that's what theyre trying to figure out with the two bot-free days next week - whether the bots themselves are keeping people from queuing up for survivor.
-
I think they're fine, personally. I've played for a total of around 12 hours (or more) since 2v8 started and I've gotten one yellow herb in all that time. So it's barely made a difference to me. Was nice at the time though. Green herbs are also fine, I've only used them when I've seen them near an unhooked survivor (or myself when unhooked) and it just shaves off a few seconds from my team mates healing me. I havent played killer in this mode so can't speak to their experience.
-
I actually appreciate this response from them. I honestly did not think they'd change anything until next 2v8. Also I think it's because both queues are suffering, not just 2v8. Lots of players aren't interested in 2v8 and just want 1v4.

Yeah, keep telling yourself that. Even in normal play is always a 100% bonus for survivors.
Couldn't possibly be because 4 survivors are needed per game and only 1 killer..
-
The BP incentive is purely to help find players in the role that is needed most. In this case, it's because they need more survivors. It has nothing to do with favouritism.
-
As much as I agree, I can't see them removing bots. Not in this version or the next. I think they'll probably just take the feedback on the bots and adjust them (like programming them to leave the herbs alone so real players can actually have a chance to interact with them). They've already said they've given up on bloodpoint incentives fixing queue times since they didn't get the results they wanted last time they tried that.
-
I'm seeing a high number of Nemesis using shadow class in 2v8 and I don't understand why because you can hear his thundering footsteps a mile away. Everyone knows he's coming.
-
I got both badge and banner, but I don't think I own any killer IM skins, just several survivor ones. I'm assuming it's based on number of IM purchases
