  • If it's not 'nerf (survivor perk) because it's too strong in the hands of team-focused swf!' then it's 'nerf (survivor perk) because that solo player isn't team-focused enough!'

Edit to add that the post I was replying to appears to have been deleted

  • I'd love to know where these Wake Up rats supposedly are. 4 years of being a solo q survivor main and I've never seen them. Ever.

  • Yes! I thought there was something wrong with my controller, but I guess not if others are experiencing it

  • Twins. Then Hag and probably Trickster.

I feel like I see Myers the most, along with Blight.

That’s hilarious. What do they enjoy about doing that so much?

    I don’t have kids.

According to my youngest it's "just satisfying." Honestly, I remember back when I started playing I found it quite satisfying too lol so I get it

Respect. I’m always struggling to sit there and convince my self to spend bloodpoints. It takes so long.

Do you have kids? Mine fight over who gets to spend my bp 🤣 I just hand the controller over and they do the bloodweb for me

Can you please show me this evidence of tru3 matching up with other big eu streamers bar hens?

Because Hens is the literal only one i ever see him match up with

iI'm subbed on youtube and watch his DBD streams a lot, and he literally never gets matched up with say Otz for example

I believe his last match vs otz was when he was playing with his ex wife or ex gf and their friends on midwitch in either early 2024 or 2023

And his last game vs ayrun was on eyrie of crows, who was in otz's swf

Where as he goes vs hens multiple times a year and i believe he just went up against him twice in like 1-2 weeks

I cant name a time in recent DBD where he went up against any big creator other than hens

He could and just not know But his chat tells him all the time so i cant see why

And while yes he doesn't face against comp players every game, im not going to pretend like he only goes up against bad survivors

As i'd say whenever he checks profiles theres like at least a 30% chance of the guy being 1v1 tourny player or comp player

And it doesn't help that a majority of comp players from my understanding use Anon Mode so it could be even higher

I'm pulling these % out of thin air but like i said i watch tru3s streams alot and this is just what i observed

Wether or not you want to call the comp players he plays Bad-Mid-Good They still play comp /1v1s and are better than a vast majority of community

Or he could just be the most sniped DBD streamer so thats why

He's gone up against Lynxi. I believe she lives in Norway. Region matters.

Also, when they stream/play matters also. Isn't Tru3 usually off-line when Otz starts streaming? I believe Tru3 streams at 5pm my time while Otz streams at midnight my time. Hens always starts streaming approx halfway through Tru3's stream.

  • If you're going up against "so many" of these swf teams (despite 4man swfs who play super perfectly being incredibly rare), then perhaps they aren't actually swf at all. Perhaps you're in an MMR bracket that you shouldn't be and your opponents are simply better at the game?

  • Nothing toxic about bodyblocking. It's a legitimate strategy. People always claim solo q would be better if people played more like a team instead of selfishly, and bodyblocking is playing like a team.

  • Daily challenge overhaul. Should be 3 killer and 3 survivor dailies imo. And more bp to make the grind a bit easier for new players.

  • I played on Switch for over 2 years. When you don't know any better it's fine. Once I got a PS5 though I couldn't go back to Switch. Mostly because of the camera tbh, even on 100% sensitivity it was really slow. I'm keen to see how the Switch 2 performs though. I got a PS Pro to play on when travelling etc but unfortunately DBD doesn't play that well on it so I'm hopeful the Switch 2 is more of an improvement.

  • Mostly slugged for the 4k when one of the last two survivors. I'd say at least 80% of the time now since the Finisher Mori came out. I've had just one (1) singular killer give me hatch in that time.

  • My shortest was when I had a hacker. All the gens popped and the exit gates opened before the camera had stopped panning around me at spawn in.

Longest was a Wraith during the 3gen Overbrine meta when there were 3 gens literally right next to each other and he parked himself there from spawn in. I ended up finding a commodius toolbox in a chest and it gave me and a Mikaela just the boost we needed when he was distracted kicking one of the other gens our two team mates keep going at. The Wraith wasn't hooking, just slugging so he could keep regressing the gens, but I didn't let go of my gen that time and he ended up grabbing me instead of downing me. He obviously didn't know what to do about that because he hesitated briefly before going to a nearby hook and it was enough for the Mikaela to duck back in and finish the last of our gen. I didn't time the game but it was LONG. IIRC he ended up with a 1k and it was just a pure waste of time.

  • Wasn't planning to buy any auric cells this week but I guess things have changed!

  • He's one of my favourite killers to go against

DbD events truly bring out the best in people.

This is how you know SBMM isn't fully functioning during events lol I havent seen one of these Bubbas in a loooong time

  • I guess because spawn priorities aren't a bug, theyre intentionally set up that way. Probably better off posting in the Feedback section and asking for the devs to consider prioritising killer items over chests etc.

  • It's my favourite mode but I am currently back on normal. I suspect one of my neighbours is a sweaty Huntress main because I was constantly getting matched with this same person in CS lmao

  • I doubt they'd do this. We know they get limited bandwidth for any updates made to the game. So random PTBs for changes that may not even make it live will probably be seen as a too big a drain on resources.

i am kind of shocked that Choy does it because I felt like he would be someone that actually cared about both sides. As for tru3, he only cares about the killer experience so it’s not shocking. He wins most of his games yet still complains

It's not that Tru3 only cares about killer, it's that he knows his audience. People new to killer or those that struggle with killer tend to gravitate towards him and he simply tells them what they want to hear (for full disclosure, I am a former Tru3 subscriber). This is how he makes his income, he needs to draw in and maintain that audience. That's why his words don't seem to match his success rate. At the end of the day content creating is just a job.

I also don't think content creators see it a both sides issue. Tru3 and other content creators have been campaigning for a hooks over kills approach, which honestly isn't a bad idea. It would require a greater display of skill. But that's a long term change. It becomes a both sides issue when they make the game painful for survivors in order to get their point across. BHVR are more likely to take short term approaches and in this case the end result will be a basekit counter to slugging.

  • This feels a bit like cutting off your nose to spite your face. Much like content creators pushing the 3-gen strat during the Overbrine era, all they're really doing is ensuring BHVR step in and slap a bandaid on slugging before they do anything about prioritising hooks over kills (which is what Tru3 and co are likely pushing for with their slugging). The devs will be expecting an influx of new players with FNAF coming up, there's no way they're gonna let a content creator-led slugging meta be those player's introduction to the game lol they'd all just leave.

This is possibly the worst idea for this I've seen, and sadly it's not the first time seeing it.

If you give people the ability to kill survivors and still call it a loss that's pretty much an awful idea all around.

Still get to 4k, but it doesn't give you harder games? Check.

Possibly 3k and get easier games? Check.

Incentivizing people to slug every single game? Check.

Might as well delete hooks at that point. The only thing people seem to care about nearly as much as winning, is not having to sweat for the next win.

Agree to disagree. I feel like a stagnant MMR would have more of an impact on certain egos.

  • They didn't. Thankfully I'm OCD and can't just leave a message unopened so I discovered it on day 1

  • Definitely feels that way. Probably why Finesse is so popular

  • I've said before that the devs need to make bleed outs not count as kills. Simple. It won't solve this happening as some people literally will just troll anyway, but I guarantee it'll improve. Make bleed outs null, much like hatch escapes are.

Queue times mean the opposite of what it seems you think. The side with longer queue times is the side with more players waiting for members of the other side to play. In other words, longer survivor queues means there's not enough killers for the survivors, not the opposite.

You need 4 survivors per game. So if there is a shortage of survivors then yes, other survivors can have affected queue times as they wait for the game to find them team mates.

I guess I am looking at the bigger picture. What is currently happening between Choy and BHVR is a live communication event. BHVR has already set the rules ("No public MMR.") and Choy found a way to circumvent that. This is a reflection of the relationship between the player base and the developers. Choy found a metaphorical gun and pointed it at BHVR the first chance he got. No matter how BHVR responds to this situation, things have already escalated. Not to hostility per se, but I don't think happy people playing a happy game made by happy people would act like this. This is described in Choy's video where he acknowledges what he is doing isn't cool, but is justified because BHVR fired a whole bunch of people … and should have known they needed resources on standby for when the community wanted more control over the rulebook? To me, this is a power struggle. There is severe concern that the community is going to look for similar patterns to communicate with the developers moving forward. The reason I labeled this thread Armageddon is because this whole situation reflects a turning point in the community culture.

I don't remember a time in the past where the community intentionally gave developers … more work … to get something. Any resources spent working on frivolous privacy requests is less resources working on a full chapter, bug fixes, new cosmetics, etc.

I am not a lawyer, and I am not going to study and become one to fully understand the nuance behind global privacy laws. Deep in my gut, I know that most laws are written with built-in protections to avoid being exploited beyond the original intention. At the same time, there is an inherent right granted by the law — and two attempts per year for a massive audience is still a LOT of work that just magically appeared out of thin air because an upset player with an agenda isn't happy with the current state of the game. If there is an inherent time limit to GDPR requests, and if BHVR isn't able to keep up—I believe they would be fined accordingly. Part of me wonders if that was Choy's true intention — to clog the system with requests so the developers have to act or "pay" a cost.

    I don't think it's that deep.

All he's really ultimately done is encourage people to clog up Support. Even he says the info he's got doesn't mean much or paint any sort of accurate picture.

  • I think it's your most played killer and survivor overall. The rest was specific to 2024

  • It's there, it just doesn't show up very often. I've had it once since Bone Chill, and even during Bone Chill I only saw it a couple of times

You can bet if it reached a point where a majority of survivors run full anti-tunnel/anti-slug builds killers will just complain until they all get nerfed.

How do I know? Because its happened before. Doesn't anyone else remember the forum tales of insert sad violin theme "I hate tunneling default meg at 5 gens with Nurse, but if I don't, she could have DS available during end game! Just nerf DS and I swear I'll never need to tunnel again. Oh and also dead hard. And Adrenaline."

Every iteration of "just blanket nerf survivors again and I'll play in a fun way" has ended the same way. Maps being nuked, anti-tunnel perks being nuked, gens taking longer. Every time it just makes the same boring 9 year old killer playstyles stronger.

Don't forget the "I have to slug because survivors keep purposely getting downed near the broken hook that their team mate died on". Hooks now respawn and yet gestures vaguely to all my slugged team mates

  • @WolfePhD said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3873426#Comment_3873426

It really depends on how those players react. Even if they region-lock it to GDPR only, those players supposedly have the ability to request their data twice per year. This means that BHVR would have to hire more people to handle the expected forever increase in traffic … or bow down to Choy’s checkmate and kiss the ring like he wants so badly. If BHVR changes the output or process from the video to mask MMR, Choy would double down out of spite and the Ouroboros would continue. The video he made was very clearly intentional to get a reaction out of Behavior. Now we have to see how they respond.

I knew someday that all these years of playing a strategy game so often, so frequently would result in something like this. At a certain point, cultivating a group of people to outsmart each other ultimately led a fan to outsmart the developers at their own game while still playing by the rules.

I really do think that we are going to wake up to a new DBD when all the privacy requests are processed and the community begins to put the pieces together. This past week will be one big plot episode for DBD.

I suspect Choy was correct that he got the devs attention with his request. But imo the recently released individual game data was a way to temporarily hold back the wave of Support requests while they work on a way to keep MMR out of privacy requests.

The information Choy received doesn't mean much until more people contribute their own info to help build a more accurate picture of the system. But contributed info can be unfortunately faked. So I feel like this is just going to muddy the water of the communities understanding of MMR more than anything.

  • @not_Queef said:

Public MMR will be a disaster. People will treat it like a progression mechanic and cheese games even harder than ever to make the magic number go higher.

More genrush, more camping, more tunneling, more sweat, more misery.

Still, I can't deny how much I want to laugh at all the salty bois finding out they're not actually "high MMR".

Yeah, the silver lining would be all the people who think they're high MMR finding out they're actually not lol

I agree though it would be treated like a progression mechanic to the detriment of the game. People would do whatever it took to get to high MMR, then once there and facing the best players the game has to offer we will all have to hear their complaints that BHVR need to make the game easier for them to compete. Nah, my opinion is keep them hidden.

  • Spirit. I'm hearing impaired and generally stay away from headphones after damaging my eardrum once due to needing the volume at a higher level. I don't find any point in playing her without headphones as much as I'd really like to

  • I think it's the closest to a casual queue that DBD can ever hope to reach at this point. People who feel they need certain perks to play are probably unlikely to participate in it, or if they do they'll probably quickly go back to normal mode. This game is absolutely playable without certain perks. Heck it's even playable without perks at all (I've done this a number of times when in the mood).

I feel like it depends on different things rather than just region things. You can have 19 good games and one really bad game and this one bad game will trigger you more and makes you think this always happens while you ignore the other 19 games. There is also the issue that players rather share their bad experiences than their good experiences which make it look like these bad experiences always happen and - in that case - every killer is tunnling, camping, and slugging - e.g. nobody would make a thread and tell how nice the killer was by spreading hook. Then, there is also the missing POV and how players see things. Sometimes the killer is "accidentally" tunnling or camps to punish the survivors for a late rescue and no other survivor wants to trade. Some players also see slugging for pressure as toxic/bm. Not gonna say that tunnling, camping, and slugging never happens because of cause some player do this - and some in a bm way because some players don't understand that this game needs both sides - but it happens far less than it looks like. Mandy once said excessive slugging happens in under 1% of every matches and Scott made an experiment that showed tunnling happens far less.

The BP bonus might be a time things and is also broken since Lights Out 2 (should be 100% basekit) while survivor Qtime always takes five business days.

I'm aware of all of that. I'm saying my Chaos Shuffle experience is thankfully just fine at the moment. My queue times as survivor are always fine, even outside this mode.

And bp bonus is also affected by MMR and region.

  • I think it's fine. I'm not personally a fan of anime (though my daughter is obsessed with Spy Family and I do admit it's quite entertaining) but the game doesn't revolve around me. There are many horror subgenres and anime itself is in a number of them.

  • It's thankfully been fine in my region. Currently getting 150% bp on survivor, queue times are max 20s, and killers have been fine. No tunnelling or slugging or camping. It's crazy how different experiences are across regions.

  • I've been playing all morning and haven't had a single bot

  • @Eelanos said:

At some point we have to stop complaining about killers doing this and survivors doing that and just hold BHVR accountable.

One of the jobs of the developers and the balancing team is protecting people from themselves and others. They should know people are gonna behave like this and put mechanics into place so this doesn't happen.

They should introduce the self-pick up already. And once that mechanic gets inevitably abused (because there's awful people on both sides of the player base, it's just unavoidable) then fix, patch or introduce a mechanic specifically added to prevent the previous one being abusable.

We can't just have this conversation every event. "Wow, killer players are awful", "Wow, survivor players are awful"… no, gamers are awful. This community is full of people who don't play to win but to annoy others. This is unavoidable, but it's BHVR's job to prevent this from happening to the best of their abilities.

We can't just trash talk the other side into submission because then nobody yields and nothing ever gets fixed.

Agreed. The community can argue til the cows come home but bottom line is it's up to the devs to deal with this stuff. If something is driving people away then yes, there's a problem and yes it needs addressing.

  • That sucks. Mine have been fine today. Worst game was dying on hook on Forbidden Ruins because a Claudette that was stopped from letting go on hook just decided to ignore everyone and open chests/do totems, including right near me on hook. But my games have been fine otherwise. Still my favourite mode

Sometimes, sometimes not. Situations like the example above can be about someone from one side sharing similar scenarios where the overall issue is the same in a macro fashion. When going through the methods of conflict resolution, the main one that would be missing from the Op would be Collaboration. That would be finding a solution to both issues without needing to make compensatory adjustments to either side. Relativity becomes important because if two people have a similar issue but with non-exclusive differences, there can often be a solution that addresses both simultaneously. That type of macro approach to problem solving tends to prevent solutions from causing additional problems with their application as well.

As an example we can look at the DC penalty. We'll start from a standpoint of "Survivors don't want other survivors to DC and ruin their games" while a killer might also complain that "Every time I bring in an iri addon, people DC and the addon is not refunded even though the game was wasted." Both of these issues, while not directly the same, share a common thread that they are caused by survivors DCing and ruining the game for their side personally. The compromise would have been to put a penalty specifically on survivors, since both issues were caused by that issue, which would have involved a lot of 2-4 in the first post. These types of compromises tend to involve one side needing to take an unfair concession to come to a resolution, which would have resulted in something like only survivors getting a DC penalty due to how both issues are presented. Since most balance considerations are about only getting things that help your specific side with this community, it would have led to a lot of arguing and would not have been the best resolution. Thats what I take away from it, at least.

That said, Collaboration was implementing a universal DC penalty so that there would be parity in its application, and survivors wouldn't have taken a concession that didn't also apply to killers (aka a universal change to affect all players evenly.) While this at a glance would appear to be a compromise rather than collaboration, this change also fixed other issues that hadn't been addressed in this example: It addressed survivors who get upset when their challenge/achievement/etc gets denied by a killer DCing, Survivors who do well early vs killers preventing said killer from DCing early as well, basically any scenario where a killer could DC to ruin something. The solution to one issue not only branched out to be the solution to an issue for the other side, but addressed other issues that hadn't even been attributed to the issue during discussion. Now they just need to work on when people bypass said system, but thats another discussion. TLDR: The issue shifted from "Survivors are DCing" to "Players are DCing."

Some people don't share these considerations, and they might indeed be trying to muddy the waters to lose focus on the original complaint or even poisoning the well. Sometimes it really is just a macro approach to how multiple related issues can be addressed simultaneously.

Sure, hence why i said "alot" and not "every."

That example you used re DCing can also achieve the same outcome by having separate threads. Ultimately it's up to the devs to come to a compromise, not the players themselves. We are just here to give them feedback. Rarely have I come across a discussion about a mutual issue that actually involves a reasonable compromise and not just "but what about (insert role)??"

When it's a 1 hour plus wait time the only experience is a waiting sim and since survivors refuse to give it a chance in the first even with the massive buffs they got they have only themselves to blame that this is happening
