I'm in the minority who doesn't mind the various levels of injury noises. To me it's kind of like wearing the flashy cosmetics. If you're confident, then pick the loud survivors. Not so confident? Get the quieter ones.
Also things like various volumes in breathing or footsteps would be cool. Only because survivors are already pretty much just different skins, so it'd be nice to have other features to distinguish them from each other. And like how killers have their level of difficulty displayed in the menu, survivors could have their noise levels displayed. I dunno, just kind of spitballing here.

No one can control how another person chooses to behave, all you can control is how you react to it. I always say to just remember it's a faceless person sitting behind a screen clicking a button. It's not any more serious than that. People talk about intent but that's completely up to interpretation. I remember someone posting a clip several months back, asking why the killer hooked them after showing them hatch. People asked why she was tbagging next to hatch and she said she was trying to say thanks lol the killer obviously did not interpret it that way

Probably because whenever they release stats and ask people not to draw conclusions from them, they do it anyways. It does not help the community in constructive discussions but it just helps people support whatever narrative they have of the game.
One example, since I just saw it mentioned earlier, is the '75% of survivors used DH' old chestnut. The stats actually showed 75% of *high* MMR (talking the top 5% of players) used DH. Then it was 40% for mid-MMR (the largest group), then 20% for low MMR. But everyone still flings around that it was 75% of all survivors.

Actually VHS numbers was one of the worst in the genre, however VHS had the biggest hype from dbd streamers. Now all of those returned to play dbd.
It felt like there was a bit of biting the hand that feeds you going on with a couple of popular streamers. Not naming names, but the hype they built up around VHS and Evil Dead *specifically* as DBD competitors was weird considering how they make their living. Judging those games on their own merits is fine, especially since they differed from DBD considerably, but I remember seeing the VHS discord and every single topic was about DBD. A game can't survive when it's playerbase is only drawn together by mutual anger towards another game.
-
The TCM game looks alright, I'll definitely give it a go. But I feel like it might get a bit boring after awhile, since it doesn't have variety. I imagine it'd be like playing Bubba all the time in DBD, or going against him all the time as survivor. It'd get old.
-
Probably in the event that everyone left is downed, one might have UB or a perk to help wiggle free, that could get the whole team up and going again. Giving someone a legitimate means of letting themselves go once downed, could interfere with a team mate's plan/build/perks, or even just the game in general if they're the first one downed and want out.
-
I got the Borgo three times yesterday. Surely that didn't win enough votes?
-
I had a twins game a couple weeks ago! I heard that Victor release chime and stopped in my tracks like 'no way...'
-
I think overwhelmingly most killers don't like to chase, and that's the feedback BHVR gets. It's why the gen kick meta + 3 gen strat gained such popularity so fast. Great success with very little need to chase. So the devs will probably release more anti-loop killers so that chasing and looping doesn't seem so tedious.

What do you mean? You can't bodyblock the hunted survivor.
Lots of Knights, when a survivor is being chased by a guard, will come in from the opposite side and try block/slowdown the survivor in order to give the guard a chance to catch up and hit first. Then the Knight hits the survivor a second later and they go down.

Endurance is lost if you take an action or are acted upon.
It's lost if you take a conspicuous action. Getting healed by another survivor isn't a conspicuous action. If that's what you mean by acted upon?
-
From what's been explained, your MMR moves depending on your opponents MMR. So if all 4 of the survivors have a lower MMR than you, then the game thinks 'well yeah, of course the player with the higher MMR beat the ones with the lower MMR' and your MMR won't increase. And vice versa as survivor - if you escape against a lower MMR killer, then your MMR isnt affected. That's to my understanding anyway.
Pipping depends on you achieving points in each emblem category, which is separate from anything to do with MMR. It's pretty much just checking boxes. There's a rule of 2 that alot of survivors go by, for example: two gens, two chases, two unhooks, two totems = a guaranteed pip.
-
I change my builds up every week otherwise i get bored. I do see alot more variety among team mates though than there was, say, a year ago.

I'd like to witness these magical soloq games (majority of matches in dbd) where gens are just popping off the rails. Usually i cant get my teammates on gens, let alone to rush them. Or they all group up on 1 gen without prove thyself which is very inefficient. I've played for awhile now (5k hours) and tunneling has always been a thing but IMO it got way worse because:
- DS was nerfed and is no longer meta, so killers know DS is barely in play.
- Basekit BT, regular BT & OTR are all countered by the killer hitting off hook.
- BBQ was nerfed so that it no loner incentives hooking every person.
I fear new survivor Renato Lyra's perk "Blood Rush" will become meta if it isnt changed and killers will counter it by tunneling so the survivor can't get healed to use it.
Yup, these aren't the reality of my games either unless I'm matched with efficient team mates. And I always hear about these swfs packed to the gills with BNPs every game, when I literally put 1.8 million bloodpoints into my Ada yesterday and didn't get a single one in my bloodweb lol
Tunnelling will never ever go away. The devs could give killers every buff under the sun but one thing that can't be changed in this game is skill. A buffed up killer will still sometimes come face to face with higher skilled survivors who will outplay them. And they'll just revert back to tunnelling, "because it's needed at high skill play." It's just the way it goes.
-
Your point about only remembering the losses/bad stuff is so accurate. And i think it can really cloud a lot of players perspectives.
I'd actually advise most people to keep track of their games. I play mostly survivor (solo) and I remember after the 6.1 update, my escape rate noticeably dropped. At the time I estimated I had a maybe 20% escape rate, if not less. I typically was quite annoyed by tunnelling and camping and slugging as well in the past. I started actually keeping track of my games and it turns out my escape rate was around 30%, so better than i thought, and tunneling, camping, slugging, weren't in the majority of my games. It made me feel alot better about the game in general. People need to chill, because there's a good chance the thing that upsets them the most isn't actually as significant as it feels.

Yeah, anyone who says only one side is toxic only plays one side.
And there is stuff each side does that really invites it. That said, it is mostly a player issue, not as role issue. Things like carrying your angst from one match to the next is the result of being immature and petty.
Why are people toxic to begin with? Could be a lot of things, but my bet is that most of the time they are just carrying their irl BS into the game, and it is contagious. It's all a manifestation of the boundary aggression that is essentially everywhere in the online world.
Now after 3K+ hours divided between both roles, I do think you are more likely to be subjected to toxicity from survs than killers (mostly because it's a numbers game), but when it comes from killers, it's most often a power trip thing. The thing about that that is that you can feel super powerful as a killer, or totally powerless. Experiencing the latter can definitely feed indulging in the former (in immature people).
It's survivors more because you see more survivors than you do killers. When you play killer you have 4 survivors, and chances are at least one will have BM. As (solo) survivor, you have 1 killer plus 3 survivors in a match who can display BM towards you. I had a game yesterday as solo survivor, where the 3 man swf I played were purposely being crappy to me. People who want to bully will always find a way to do so.

I like playing killer from time to time, and Iike being a nice killer. I just do my archives or trophies, then I become friendly, no matter how hard i tried before. I feel like it’s a good balance for survivors. Scary, challenging but also chill.
My favourite killer players are the ones that we (and they) know could wipe the floor with us within a few minutes. So instead they decide to 2 hook everyone before the sacrificing starts. The matchmaking can be so inaccurate sometimes, it's nice when a player recognises they've been matched with players way below their skill level and does their best to make a game of it
-
Yeah, I don't engage in any bad manners but I cop it plenty. Just remind yourself that it's a game. It's not that deep. It's some faceless person sitting behind a screen pressing buttons and patting themselves on the back. I like to imagine that they've just had a very bad day at work and they've decided to take their anger out on a game.

Probably just an (intentional) Easter egg, especially if Huntress Lullaby is in there as well. They're fun to find in games.

I did see today a post on Twitter and Facebook that shows a video of the devs boasting about the design of the skull merchant. The fact that this coincides after so much backlash (not just from the public but their own fog whisperers) is obviously more than just a coincidence.
But I do find it interesting that instead of addressing everyone's concerns, they instead make a PR move to gloss over all the bad press.
Screenshots from that video were leaked before the PTB was released, so it is just a coincidence. That video was filmed before they saw any reactions to the chapter. And there's nothing wrong with being proud of your work, even if it's not the most well recieved.

The problem is that the state the game is in right now, it’s more bad than good games and it has been for a while now. Like I Said in my original post, I don’t know how bad it is on the American servers, but the EU servers are really bad with almost every other game being a tunneler or a camper. Solo is just not strong enough to counter it, as survivors playing alone don’t have strong enough perks to protect themselves. If you find yourself with unexperienced or farming/sandbagging teammates, you lack options to keep yourself safe and alive longer. Solo lack options of Security that every SWF team has.
I only play solo so i totally get it. I'm in Australia so I *think* I play on an Asian server, and it's honestly not too bad. If it got any worse I'd probably just move on. People will come up with all sorts of reasons for why they play the way they do, and it's usually to do with gen rushing (which I don't do), or Dead Hard (which I've never used), or gen progression perks (which I don't use), or survivor meta builds (which I don't use). So often times players like us are just suffering for the "sins" of others I guess.
I think when people say the best thing to do is not play anymore, they dont necessarily mean it in a bad way. I have an escape rate of about 30%. If it ever dropped to below 20% I would probably stop playing. I don't mind dying - I'm very altruistic and 5k bloodpoints mean less to me than my team getting out. But it's a nice dopamine hit when a good escape happens. When you stop feeling good while playing a game, there's probably no point in playing. And unfortunately, you can't pick who you get matched with. That's out of all of our control.
-
Probably that it can't be used with a medkit for that extra speed
-
My first killer today was camping and tunnelling, so I get it. You sit down in the evening to play a game and that first one kind of sets your mood. My second game though was a 2 hook Nurse (basically a killer confident enough not to tunnel or camp, who will 2 hook everyone before the sacrificing starts) so you kind of just take the good with the bad. One of the players was even afk for the first part of the game, and the nurse left them alone when she realised, only going after them once they came back. As with any online game, it's a mixed bag of who you get matched with. You'll definitely have better outcomes in a swf.

Cheryl's survivor theme music is gorgeous. Akira is crazy talented. I had no idea about any of this until now.

59-61%.
How is the game supposed to be in a 'lot more unbalanced state'? You forget that in 6.1, killers had their regression buffed, they had their on-hit cooldown reduced, survivors had their hit-sprint reduced, and gentime was increased by a total of fifty seconds.
Why should killers receive buffs if y'all are just gonna show up here a month later pretending you didn't get anything?
It's so nice to see someone remember the killer buffs lol kill rates increased (my own solo escape rate decreased), but the way so many talk on this forum about killers getting nothing, I was starting to think I imagined the whole update. We all know solo queue made up the majority of those increased kill rates, which is why I'm guessing us getting thrown a bone that swfs have had all along has made so many angry. Solo players are supposed to stay easy pickings.
-
It's more like a gurgle to me
-
I let go in that situation, because yeah it's just prolonging the inevitable and I'd rather move on to the next game. If the other survivor is the one hooked, then I'll attempt a rescue only if they're struggling. If they're struggling then i assume they want to stay in and I'll oblige them. I don't care if I die so it's whatever.

I'm pretty sure it actually was said somewhere that when the game was in development they initially tried to get Leatherface but the license holders said no and so they made their own killer based on Leatherface, so actually that first one isn't entirely wrong. That's also if I heard correctly and it wasn't just someone's theory.
Although I'm still not sold on the whole "Skull Merchant was Predator and they changed it because of the license" idea. Personally I think that theory came from people thinking up a new excuse why to call this chapter bad. I don't think people would have gone there if the chapter was amazing.
I personally buy into the 'this was formally Predator' theory, and I actually like this chapter as is too!

It’s wild how hard Vittorio flopped good perks cool outfits yet I literally never see anyone play him and people genuinely can’t stand that entire dlc
I see quite a few Vittorios in my games. He's not one of my most seen survivors, but i see him more than I see Kate now for example. I never bought him myself, as I didn't actually think his perks were good. Fogwise would be the best one but I play mostly on my Switch and consistently hitting greats isn't my thing lol
-
I don't think this perk will be as popular or oppressive as many people think, so i think it's fine as is. I think the reaction is a bit overblown. God loopers might get the most advantage from it but the average DBD survivor is not a god looper. And that's provided you get them second hook anyway.

Though tbh playing on Garden of Joy reminds me of 2017/2018 Groaning Storehouse in the worst possible way 🕳️👩🏻🦯
Yeah I remember the cheering on this forum when DH got nerfed mid-2022. Lots of people were saying it's a dead perk and how thrilled they are. Somehow it's now suddenly become even more powerful?
-
Yeah I read elsewhere the next update went live prematurely on Epic. Hopefully they'll be able to roll it back
-
I really really doubt it. No one has to like or play every single new chapter, there are dozens of other killers to choose from still. Not liking her doesn't mean there needs to be a conspiracy.
-
Wraith makes a gurgling noise and the air is distorted when he is cloaked. He was one killer I struggled alot against when i first started playing but you learn to spot him the more you play.
-
I agree it'll never be gone. People have been tunnelling for as long as I've been playing. It will always happen. IMO though, best thing BHVR can do is just implement more perks to help counter it. So that way, killers still have the option but it becomes a lot riskier because they dont know if the survivor theyre focusing on has certain perks up their sleeves. Plus then it's ultimately up to the survivors to choose how important to them it is to counter it and whether to dedicate part of their build to it.
I honestly don't see tunnelling a huge amount in my games, so for me it'd be a waste of perk slots. But I see alot of people claim they get tunnelled multiple times in a row, so for them it'd be worth it. And on the plus side - more builds with perks addressing strats like that, means less gen speed perks being used. So win win.
-
I don't have an issue with it. There's no guarantee they'll even get to endgame, and really - like alot of perks - it can be very good value in a coordinated swf, while not as good in solo.

I hope they go back and add it for all. I'd love to know what Zarina sounds like
-
Yeah, like this killer at least has the chance to keep players off of gens (have to get off gens to interact with drones or risk Exposed, which in turn negates the reviled Dead Hard). So if set up at the start of the game is efficient, she can challenge gen rushers. She's undetectable in an active drone zone as well, so indoor maps are going to be tough and survivors won't get as much advanced warning when getting into chase. I think she has plenty going for her personally. I get that alot of people are disappointed though, and that's fine. I had zero expectations, even after seeing the teaser so I think she's decent.

Red Forest worries me greatly.
Red Forest is my favourite realm and I play on consoles (Switch and PS5, mostly the former), why does it worry you?
-
Cheaters come and go in waves in this game. They get around whatever BHVR put in place last time, their numbers increase, then whatever theyre hacking is patched and there's a mass banning and they disappear. Rinse and repeat. As a result, the vast majority are on new accounts.
If someone has a mark on their account from years ago and they haven't reformed and instead used that same account to cheat in DBD, then chances are they've been caught up in the ban waves already. The ones who have had marks on their accounts from years ago and are still playing with no issue are fine, because they're evidently not cheating in DBD. Why throw the baby out with the bath water?

No just when people claim the do streaks they have cheated it by deranking. The 300 win streak demo is a great example of this and like I said both sides go on win streaks.
Survivors have way more in their control to a bad killer, you legit have god pallets in the game which can render alot of the roster useless until they break it. The game is survivor sided because they have the ability to go to that level, look at comp that shows its survivor sided. While it doesnt need to be balanced for the very top it should be balanced for people that can play not people that cant.
How do you know they're deranking? Most content creators I watch do not have any increase in their devotion levels, so they're not playing/deranking off-stream.
-
You're new to the killer, while they're established survivors. Of course they are gonna run circles around you. You haven't learned to play the new killer efficiently yet.
-
I need to have a closer look at their perks in action before deciding. Perks are what determine whether I buy or not.
-
I had zero expectations so I'm not really fussed by what we got
-
I'm pretty sure that's what it's supposed to be around tbh. I have a 70% loss rate as solo survivor, and we know playing with friends can increase your chances of escape so combine that with the 60% plus kill rate and I think it's about where the devs intend it to be. Escaping in solo heavily depends on the calibre of team mates you get matched with, and that's really outside of your hands.
