where do u get the stats from
Probably Night Light, which isn't an accurate representation of the player base. It's self-reported, which casual players (majority of the base) are unlikely to bother doing. Also, the data is from primarily English speaking players. So, for example, Self Care is notoriously a high use and popular perk in Asian regions. Night Light data is unlikely to reflect those numbers. I'd love if the devs could frequently keep the base updated with the actual perk stats.

I don't care for the Hud change, it removes so much of the unknown and info perks now feel like wasted slots or just unnecessary.
Would love to see an objective to lengthen these short matches.
NGL though, I've actually unequipped Kindred for the first time in 2 years and it feels good
-
It could simply be that you need a break. Nothing wrong with that. I'm a solo survivor and I'm fine with the game in general. Between the perk overhaul, the killer buffs and subsequent solo buffs (when it became clear we were disproportionately affected by aforementioned killer buffs), plus more frequent upcoming perk changes in future, I do feel the devs are trying to create some sort of balance. Things undoubtedly still need tweaking all around but it's clear they're trying. I think a big problem is how impatient alot of players are. Things take time.
-
I still usually have at least 1 person on the team not touching gens. Often they're just searching chests and messing with totems. They sometimes get to the end without having been hooked once. Those sorts of players, nothing will make more productive members of the team.

The Knight is probably the Killer I’ve enjoyed the most since I started playing in 2018, genuinely, his power is incredibly fun to use for me.
Here’s the kicker though, the community generally hates him. His lovers are out there, or people that don’t mind him, but I think the overall consensus is that he’s boring and very hard/impossible to counter in certain situations.
End game chat with people telling you you’re trash for playing Knight doesn’t help. That was the final straw for me, haven’t played the game in weeks and don’t intent to ever again, just watch the us vs them wars continue on the forums. If I can’t enjoy playing the game fully, what’s the point, eh.
If you have the desire to keep on going, keep playing Knight and don’t give a crap about what anybody says. I just don’t have the energy for it anymore.
I played against a Knight earlier who gave me hatch. He showed me where it was with one of his guards lol it was one of a few times I wish I had an endgame chat so I could tell him how much it amused me. He's not my favourite killer by far - in late game, he can apply so much pressure I feel like I can't even catch my breath - but I couldn't imagine going off at someone for choosing to play him. Variety is the spice of life and all that. Just press continue on endgame and don't even entertain people.
-
Not sure if you're on reddit but there's a sub, dbdLFG, where people find groups
-
The game stops being scary like a couple weeks after you start playing. I don't think there's much the devs can do about that. You become desensitised to it all.

I think it wouldnt sting so bad if killers would just go easy on the group that had dcs, nope most killers I play still go full sweat hog.
We are a man maybe two down there is no way we were going to win.
I don't expect killers to go easy on me, I'm totally fine with them wanting to end the game quickly at that point. But if 2 people DC in a game, the third person usually sees it now as competition for the hatch and I'd rather just go next. So I'll stay on a gen until the killer finds me. The only time I get cranky is when, at that stage, they leave me slugged. Despite me not putting up a fight and clearly letting them kill me so I can go next. If I'm not the one wasting their time hiding for hatch, then just let me go.
-
Then when it's you and the last survivor, be prepared for the longest game of hide and seek of your life. Hatch is there purely to ensure the game ends. Either survivor finds it, or killer does, and the countdown starts or the game ends. The game doesn't even count a hatch escape as an actual escape. It doesn't affect a survivor's MMR at all.
-
This would disproportionately affect solo, as well as new survivors trying to learn to play more efficiently. I come equipped to heal myself because there is no guarantee someone else will. I've been matched with swfs who prefer to leave me injured as a nice meat shield for them - because the killer will zone in on the injured person over them. Coordinated swf teams would just navigate around this, take turns taking chase or bodyblocking, depending on who still has health or heal states. Slugging would become more prevalent once a killer knows which survivors can't be picked up and healed anymore.
Add to this, Iron Will was nerfed to heck, so not only would a killer have visual tracking (scratch marks), they'd have consistent auditory tracking with nothing survivors could do to dampen it. I honestly think alot of people would stop playing and the game would struggle to hold onto new players.
-
As a Zarina and Sheva main, I got a bit worried seeing them at the bottom. But then I realised it was because of rarity and not because we suck 😅

While there are some issues to be worked on and balanced of course, I think a lot boils down to one major thing:
Humans don't like things that are out of their control - more specifically to DBD, players don't like situations where their perceived skill level doesn't dictate how they actually do in a game. A lot of situations in this game cause a player to "lose" even if they feel they shouldn't have. But the fact is, this game is almost all RNG, from perk choices to player levels to map spawns, etc.
Once DBD players 1). stop taking this game so seriously and 2) come to terms with the random nature of it, they'll be a lot a better off. It's a mentality issue that a lot of people have to work on themselves.
Comes down to a person's ego, imo. You see people in every walk of life, not just gaming, who can't handle losing and lash out. It's not healthy.
I had a best friend who was passed over for a promotion, and instead of sitting down with his boss and discussing where he fell short, he chucked a fit and quit. His dad went around to his place to talk to him, convince him not to throw his career away, and he punched his dad. Cops came and he got arrested. Later when he told me all of this, all he could say was none of this would have happened if he just got the promotion he deserved lol I was like dude....

For me it's the Chris Redfields. I think they go under the radar because they're not as popular as Leon, but whenever I get one on my team I know he's gonna be clueless. I could just dodge but I enjoy watching them in the wild. Especially on Dead Dawg trying to hide that large body in every bush and thinking the killer won't see them.

it happens in both circumstances. Otzdarva made a video on this, although him claiming that these type of skillchecks only appear at around 7% is hillarious. It happens a lot more often, and it frustrates me every single time.
Want to heal a teammate? Sure, boom, now the killer will come while we heal!
I had a game earlier on Coal Tower where THREE times I had this happen lol and I was only stopping momentarily to avoid PR, which the killer didn't even have as i saw in endgame. If it's 7% then i had the worst luck. I did wonder if the killer had to double check to make sure he hadn't equipped PR since he kept getting explosions upon hooking lol
-
I don't see many in my games at all, not enough that it annoys me or directly impacts my overall enjoyment of the game anyway. I played a couple hours this arvo and no DCs or letting go on hook at all, everyone was pretty chill. For me it's really not the norm, so when I do see it I'm pretty whatever about it. I figure maybe they've had a bad day and thought the game might be a good distraction, until they realize it isn't.

They're supposed to be getting a rework this year. It might not be worth it for them to put time and energy into bugs if the bugs aren't going to matter soon. They're the killer I want to try next, so I'm just waiting for the rework.

Not at all

This would leave to the streamers either sitting in extremely long queues or intentionally losing to derank for "content." So I doubt it'll happen.
Pretty much. Several months ago BHVR did a variety of MMR testing and gathered feedback before releasing the results. If I'm recalling correctly, the more accurate the SBMM, the longer the queue times. Those games were alot more fairer and closer in terms of skill, but there were queue times of like 10-15 mins.

You're entitled to your opinion, I have no issue with that

It definitely is a "mmr thing" as tunneling and camping are way worse now.
Well, if they weren't worse before they certainly will be now at any rate. As someone else pointed out, Otz is pretty much the face of this game. Regardless of what he was trying to say (he's apparently put out a tweet trying to clarify), the sentiment over the past day seems to be that he's validating tunnelling, even promoting it now (edit to add: that's not how *I* interpreted it, it's the way a number of other players seem to be interpreting it). I've been off the game for a couple weeks due to a bad ear infection, so I'm interested to see what my next several games will show at any rate. I could be wrong.
-
Depipping needs to be a thing of the past
-
I've been keeping track of my games and I see a tunneller usually every 10 or so games. However, there's been a number of popular content creators recently talking up tunnelling as the most efficient means of winning, so I anticipate it's going to happen alot more now. This community is big on their content creators. Best advice I can give is - if it's happening often and you want a break, equip Distortion. Lethal Pursuer is a very popular perk, and Distortion will counter it and give you a break from being first found.
-
I can't speak for every solo player, but it's definitely not the case for me. The additional info helps me make more informed choices but overall my gameplay hasn't changed. And I certainly don't feel like part of a swf when I'm playing lol. Swf support each other and coordinate to pull off plays to help all 4 escape. Solo players are still a mixed bag of skill, with the general goal being to get themselves out first and foremost (there are exceptions, including myself. I'll die for randoms), or to get their daily or to get their tome challenges done. Or to just hide on the edge of the map because they're scared. I don't get to choose my team mates. I'm certainly not surviving with friends here.
-
This is why I started spreading my bp out. I'm just aiming to get everyone to P10 now. So it gives no one any expectations of my skill.
-
I've been playing for 2 years and people have been complaining about tunnelling that entire time. It's nothing new. IMO I see it less frequently now than I did back then, which could be an MMR thing. Regardless, it's a part of the game and it's not going away, no matter how much they tweak perks or powers. Blaming it on the 6.1.0 update doesn't make sense to me when, as I said, it's been an ongoing thing since I started playing. They can nerf gen speeds, they can boost nice guy perks, and players will still tunnel. And people will still say 'it's a smart, legitimate strategy'

The lack of communication on any plans for Killer updates is one of the reasons for the knee jerk reactions.
Everyone is just parroting “Devs will be able to buff Killers better against swf and solo queue”. The official dev replies seem to fall into a “wait and see “ approach with no mention of even possibly looking at the weaker Killers whom still need help regardless of the Survivor HUD update.
The hinted at “Eruption” change also doesn’t seem promising given BHVR’s history of nerfing perks into the grave like Pop and Corrupted Intervention.
Overall, things don’t look too promising for Killers in the future since we don’t know if Killer buffs are even happening and when.
Okay, but solo survivors literally went through the same thing and managed. When killers recieved their general buffs in mid-2022, this forum and social media were full of solo queue survivors talking about how much their escape rates had dropped and how much more difficult the game had become for them. It took 2 months of the devs 'wait and see' approach just to get confirmation that yes, kill rates have increased, and then several months for solo queue to get the current QOL change we have now. We didn't know if solo buffs were happening or when either.
Any buffs made to killer right now would be based on guesswork, and not actual data. Hence the wait and see period. The solo queue experience after the mid-2022 overhaul would have been reflected in their data, which is why we now have these icons. They clearly felt they needed to throw us a bone. Likewise, the killer experience will be reflected in their data after the current monitoring period. Solo queue survived the wait, surely you can too?

I'm assuming this must be either an MMR thing that at my MMR there just isn't enough KIllers playing or the OCE server is just lacking players in general.
Yeah I'd say so. It's almost 5pm here and 100% survivor
-
Low tier M1 killers needed individual reworks/buffs. A new perk meta that's only just emerged a couple months ago ain't it, especially when BHVR told us back in June that perk overhauls are going to become commonplace going forward. No one should get attached to or rely on any one perk or build. It's always going to change.

People on the forums will tell you that you can do well with any killer as long as you “git gud” with them. That’s simply not true.
With killers like Doctor, Trapper, Pig and Clown, no matter how good you are, you won’t be doing well against a well coordinated and efficient swf. You’ll most likely be their plaything. Wait until you get a bully squad on comms running Head On, Boil Over, DH and a map offering to make you as miserable as possible.
My suggestion to you is to master Nurse or Blight if you don’t want to feel helpless. You will lose a lot while you build the required experience but once you have them down, survivors will have to take you seriously.
Also, don’t listen to people about not camping or tunneling or slugging. Survivor mains have ways to try to guilt you into thinking about their fun while never once caring or considering if you might be having fun. Heck, they get a kick out of making the killer miserable enough to DC. Plenty of YouTube videos to prove it.
This isn’t saying all survivors are the same, but once you get into sweaty MMR, good luck.
Believe it or not, but not everyone who says not to tunnel or camp is doing so for their own agenda. It's a fact that tunnelling and camping are sure-fire ways get more kills. It's also a fact that more kills increases MMR and pits you up against more challenging survivors. OP is new. They have only played a couple dozen games and are finding their opponents too challenging. When people in this thread are telling them not to rely heavily on tunnelling and camping, they are giving good reasons to a new player. I haven't seen anyone try and guilt them - OP didn't even say in their initial post that they camped or tunnelled - they were giving general advice on how to try keep their MMR at an appropriate level.
OP can take or leave the info, it doesn't matter to anyone. But you're warning OP about bully squads, while simultaneously telling OP to use strategies that are guaranteed to get new players plenty of those sorts of teams. I don't get it sorry. You're pretty much telling them to jump straight into the deep end, while everyone else is telling them to first learn to swim.
-
I agree. The devs work hard, we wouldn't even have this game if they didn't. There's always going to be issues with online games, especially one that's several years old and updates as frequently as DBD. It's fine to get frustrated, but some people treat showing any sort of gratitude as unwarranted. Which is bizarre. There is plenty to be grateful to the team for.
And Mandy's comment that she's not surprised by personal attacks because she knows this community well actually makes me sad. I can just imagine the sorts of messages the team get in their inboxes.

Clearly said people have never played solo q. Just knowing someone else is willfully ignoring gens doesn't help you in a match. People always kick back against change.
Definitely. It also got me remembering that the devs gave an update about 2 months after they buffed killers last year, so it'll probably take a couple months before we even see a report on the impact of these solo buffs. Wish people could show some patience. Too much of 'the sky is falling' going on.

Idk why people seem to think this change is suddenly going to turn solo q goons into genrushing super loopers.
It's not like having voice comms can call out every dropped pallet.in the game. Or even any of them. Maybe shack pallet or main building but thats about it.
On lery's
"Uh i dropped that pallet. You know, the one in the room"
I saw someone say ScottJund claimed it'll put solo up to "swf comp" level. Which i heavily disagree with, if he did say that. I find I'm able to make more informed choices with the icons, but my actual gameplay hasn't improved. People parrot alot of what content creators say so that could be why there's this sudden assumption of people thinking it'll make solo better than they are.
-
Hatch doesn't count as an escape and a DC isn't counted as a kill. Devs confirmed this ages ago
Also FWIW, my escape rate as solo survivor has dropped since mid-year shake up (and no, I've never used DH or meta builds) so they're definitely getting more kills from me. I'm fine with it.
-
I mostly play survivor, but enjoy the odd killer game and have definitely played more than 24 games yet still struggle at times. It's normal. There is a real learning curve here, you need way more than 24 games to get good. Find a killer you enjoy, put in the hours, and take every game as a learning experience. You're a new player, don't put high expectations on yourself. The best players are the ones that have been playing for a long time.
Having said all that - someone as new as yourself should be matched with people closer to your skill level. The more kills you get, the harder your opponents will be, but at 24 games it sounds like you're getting too much of a challenge. This is a definite flaw imo in matchmaking. I suspect it's because the game is prioritising queue times over skill-based matchmaking.
Edit: I'd also suggest maybe an easier killer to start with. I'm pretty sure Nemesis is marked as Hard difficulty (iirc)

So could this potentially mean my MMR is high then if there's Killers needed even at 3pm?
Wouldn't have a clue. Just mean that, for example, I could be mid-MMR and seeing a survivor bonus, while my next door neighbour could be high-MMR and seeing a killer bonus. I'm pretty sure it's simply the role most needed at your MMR at that moment.
-
I'm in Western Australia and it's typically 100% Survivor still for me. I see killer bonus usually around 9pm. Apparently the incentive is mostly dependent on your MMR though.

Apparently it was license issues or something that were holding them back. I'd honestly be fine if they made crossprogression happen for the original killers and survivors, and dealt with the licensed ones separate. Just do what is in their control first.
-
I'm in Western Australia, and per my server I get matched with a lot of players in Asian regions. How would proximity chat help me if we don't even speak the same language? Not to mention this is a game where sound is very important to survivors (ie terror radius, Myers breathing, Ghostface cloak, Wraith's gurgle, Hex totem crackling, etc etc) so I actually feel it would detrimental to me as a solo player to have random players going off in my ear constantly.
-
She was projecting. She was hiding so assumed others were too every time they were off a gen
-
Thanks for the write up. Definitely not a waste of time, I read the entire thing (and enjoyed it)
-
Yeah I've been using Deja Vu alot more because of these weird spawns. I'd rather hit one of them immediately and die trying than risk a half hour game.
-
I just stay on a gen and then die. I'm not gonna prolong the game for myself just for a chance at hatch. The hiding survivor can have it.
-
It's a method of tallying 5s (count 4 lines then cross them off with the fifth), so not specifically DBD related. Could be a kill count or something. Who knows! Nice catch anyway
-
A killers means of tracking survivor is visual (scratch marks) while a survivors means of tracking killers is auditory (terror radius). There are colour blind settings to help killers who are sight impaired to better track marks, and now there will be something to help hearing impaired survivors. And it's in a way that doesn't benefit those survivors who can hear perfectly fine.
Adding auditory benefits to all killers helps more than just hearing impaired killers. It would be a buff to the entire killer base. No more mindgaming killers when out of line of sight, since they'll know when youve left the area. If the killer is distracted then its okay, they'll get told there's a survivor nearby so dont leave the area.
-
The problem is that survivors who can hear the TR get no benefit from this update. Only hard of hearing survivors get that benefit.
Something that makes survivors easier to detect for hard of hearing killers, also makes survivors easier to detect for killers who can hear perfectly fine but missed it because they were distracted or made a misplay and got mindgamed (no worries, a sound feature will tell them when the survivor has left the immediate area so no time wasted searching). It could easily become a crutch for killers who arent hard of hearing. Plus there are an abundance of killer aura reading perks not to mention scratch marks that give away a survivors location.
Scratch marks are something every killer has access to, like the TR is something every survivor has. The latter is affected by hearing though while the former isn't. There are colour blind settings to help colour blind killers track scratch marks. Now we are getting something to help hard of hearing survivors get use of their feature.
-
The info it gives is info swfs on comms have always had. It gives swfs nothing new, and actually gives Solo less info than being in a swf would
Eg it shows people on gens. Solo queue don't know which gens. Swfs already know their team mate is on a gen and they know which gen it is as their team mate has told them.
Eg it shows someone in a chase. Solo doesn't know where, they dont know which pallets are being dropped (where a deadzone is made) nor do they know when their team mate is about to go down. Swfs already know who is in chase, pallets used, and when they are about to go down because their team mate told them.
Eg it shows where someone is at in recovery. Swf already have this info as they tell each other when they are one tap away.
Eg it shows someone on a totem. Solo doesn't know if they're cleansing, or booning, or found a hex. Swfs know.
Eg someone leaves their gen. Solo don't know if theyre going for the unhook. Swfs know because they tell each other.
