I'd rather neither get implemented tbh. Not a fan of the Mori/UB plans in the slightest.
-
Definitely. It was one of my least favourite maps at the time but I appreciated how different the atmosphere was
-
I've seen them still but my understanding was that once the grabbing animation ends and the killer clicks back into the game, there's that very very brief moment where a save can slip in from the side. It's only while the killer is locked in the animation that they can't be blinded.

Dude... you must have accidentally desicrated an Indian burial ground or something. That's some round of games. Though you did get Twins, so you had a small bit of luck! I've had one depip in as long as I can remember, at least a couple resets. I'd advise trying Distortion for a bit. It'll help block aura reading perks and should hopefully keep you in the game that bit longer to actually get stuff done and pip. Downside of course is that it makes your team more vulnerable, because there's now 3 targets instead of 4.

I'd be interested to see if OP plays survivor and has to deal with eruption from the other side. Because they certainly sound like a killer main. One who likes to run eruption and win lots of games.
Eruption is difficult enough for SWFs to counter and is downright crippling for solo q teams. Who have no way to tell if the chased surv is about to go down or not. It'd maybe be more tolerable if it didn't stack with CoB. That combo is straight filthy and basically lets a killer for a gen from 90% regression down to less that 50 by simply kicking a gen and downing a surv.
Yeah, for a perk that's apparently easily counterable and perfectly fine it sure does have a lot of hardcore defenders and people across social media upset that it's being nerfed. I mean, I too feel like fighting on behalf of apparent mediocre perks to be a valuable use of my time. Oh wait, I don't, because no one spends valuable time defending actual mediocre perks.

It's the internet in general. I was a young teen when it became a mainstay in households and I used to be amazed at what an amazing source of information it was. Now, frankly, it's turned to sh**. My kids play Roblox and my 6 year old, who has started learning to read over the past year, has been coming up to me sad over things people have said to her when she tries new games (mainly things like "stupid noob" - like come on, it's a virtual obstacle course!). Anonymity has emboldened people to be as nasty as they like with little to no consequence.

I disagree dh was much better before nerf it was easy to use press E for distance. Now it requires killer to make mistake and survivor has to use it perfectly. Skill level overall has probably just increased now which can make it seem stronger.
Agree. I was watching a content creator the other night, usually a killer main but was playing survivor with DH. He says he thinks DH is stronger now than before its nerf, but then proceeded to have three games in a row where he got zero value out of it. All 3 killers easily waited it out. Watching his old vods on YT and seeing him get DH value every. Single. Time, I feel like some people have bad memories.
-
The new icons don't do anything to counter Eruption, so i cant see them being taken into consideration. Before the icons, we could see when a survivor got injured and knew they were in chase. We get that same piece of info now, nothing different

Give Killers the choice to decide if they want to play against a swf or not. Since swf is one of the reasons cited for the Killer losing, having an indicator in the lobby for swf players will give them a heads up that the match may be much more harder.
If a Killer still decides to load up against a 3/4 man and gets destroyed, at least they knew what to expect going into the match.
Swfs will never find a game. All because solo queue = easy kills. Dog forbid you have a challenge and lose once in awhile.

Respectfully I do not agree with your approach to balance! You say the best way to balance this game is to balance it revolved around bridging the gap between swf and this new hud but this will not balance the game at all imo and only make things worse.
If you ask me personally the game will be balanced much better if you do another perk shake up/rework and buff weak and weaker killers. SWF will destroy every killer that's not Nurse (good) or maybe Blight. Coordinated survivors (new hud ui) makes the weak killers struggle even more.
Luck needs to be reworked as well, why are none of the devs addressing luck anymore? I understand these things are not easy and you guys are doing the best you can but this is not the way you get proper balance! You are essentially holding survivors hands so they won't complain while sh*** on competitive killer players! You "do" realize that killers have a hard time map wise right? Your so called random maps actually goes on the randomly disadvantage maps for killer in what will be I guess you guys attempt at balance. I would be ok with this until this ui hud totally is killing the killer experience. You guys are taking away from what made or makes DBD unique, why? Why fix something that's not broken! DBD was not broken up until this point. Just my opinions and criticism I hope you don't mind!
Your balancing solution is to buff weaker killers to be able to compete more effectively against swf? How is that balanced for solo queue? Solo queue makes up the vast majority of the kill rates (hence why killer mains like yourself are upset they got a buff, you know solo is easy pickings) so they already get dominated plenty by weaker killers. Making weaker killers stronger will only make the game more difficult for solo players. How is that balance? The actual solution is exactly what BHVR are doing - buff solo to bridge the gap between solo and swf, and *then* make killer changes. That way solo still have a fighting chance once killers are buffed.

"The game as it was originally designed and launched was balanced around the fact that survivors couldn't directly communicate with each other."
Even if that was true (though it appears it wasn't), so what? The game is coming up to 7 years old. The devs aren't bound by some rule the game has to stay the same and can't change what was originally envisioned for the game.
Exactly. The Official DBD discord even has rooms for people to play together on comms. If they weren't keen on it several years ago, they certainly are now
-
Ignoring all other survivors, even those sitting right there on a gen near you, in favour of having tunnel vision on one particular survivor.
-
Where is the killer in this equation, while 4 survivors are all on one gen? I'm rarely ever on a gen with more than one other person, and most of the time PT is nowhere in sight.

buffing solo to swf level (not quite there but getting there) and not compensating the killer in return was a mistake
lets hope soon theyll figure it out and give something to help out
They addressed this already. They'll compensate killers *if* killrates are affected by these icons. Currently they don't believe they will be but they are watching. It's just like how they buffed killers mid-year and then proceeded to watch solo queue players get steamrolled so now, several months later, they've added these icons to help us out a bit.
-
Go back to when she was released and read posts on here and social media. Everything was negative. People commenting on her looks and her weight... it was actually ridiculous. I wouldn't be surprised if BHVR thought 'okay well, the community doesn't like her so we'll focus more on survivors they do like'. Even now, topics regarding Haddie not having cosmetics only seem to pop up whenever Feng gets a new outfit. People need to start requesting Haddie cosmetics all the time, not just when trying to make an argument against Feng's latest fashion.
-
Doesn't the survivor go into deep wound though when using DH successfully? So they kind of already get a healing debuff - they need to mend first before they can be healed.
-
Survivors should be able to coordinate as a team, that's the most efficient way to play. Prior to this update though, solo queue rarely enabled any sort of efficient coordination. It never really felt like a 4v1 team game, most of the time it was more like 1v1. So it was a needed change, at the very least it makes team mates accountable to each other. There are 3 roles in this game - solo, swf, and killer. "Survivor sided" is not my experience at all. Swf-sided? yes. There's a reason so many requests come through here from killers wanting the option to be able to block going against swfs. Solos undoubtedly make up the majority of the killrates.
I'll also add that this gen kicking meta really only took off a couple months ago. The game certainly didnt favour me prior to its popularity, and i never use gen perks or bring toolboxes. This isn't some long term meta that has been carrying killers for a long time, so I'm honestly not sure I agree that it's the sole reason killers are doing well killrate wise. The only way I can see the gen kicking meta even being addressed is if BHVRs stats show the current 60% killrates have increased along with the meta usage. If there's a correlation then I have no doubt they'll address it, much like if killrates fall under 60% with the introduction of the survivor icons they'll make necessary changes.
-
They said they'll be monitoring kill rates. They want them at around 60% so if that changes with the new icons then they'll take action. Mandy said they don't believe at this stage that it will affect kill rates so I dont think they have any plans to buff killer at this point
-
That is so bad lol has to be a bug
-
I already had most of them but i don't see any issue. Free stuff is a win for everyone.
-
I think it's a bit of a stereotype. I experience more non-camping Bubbas than I do the opposite
-
I just recently unlocked Yui so I appreciate the sale on that outfit
-
Was literally just about to buy this skin, I'll pass if it just increases sound
-
It's probably best that they don't leave bugs in the game but hopefully implement it officially in future after seeing all the feedback
-
What perks are you using?
-
Honestly though, you might be underestimating the amount of players that this will shame into doing more than they usually do. We have nothing to really compare to in terms of useless team mates before and after the update, but at the very least I'm sure *some* players are now consciously aware that the team can see when they're not helping and may at least make an effort
-
I thought it was established already that it was a recurring thing
-
Unless it's scratched mirror Myers, I haven't had an issue with refilling my tokens.

Vaulting when trying to pick a survivor up is also annoying... xD
I had a Nemesis do this twice after he downed me before I could hit the vault. I felt bad so moved for him so he could pick me up easier, and he thanked me by repeatedly hitting me on hook 😭

Problem is game has been around for 6 years. The skill curve is crazy bad for newer players, ESPECIALLY survivor. Mmr will still put newish players against people who've been playing since release.
Plus the fact that anyone with a functioning brain stem can play killer effectively. Versus survivor where you need a lot of knowledge and skill to effectively run a killer in chase long enough to be useful.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3325549#Comment_3325549
Doesn't help we have toxic ppl like this ^^
Who go out of their way try and humiliate new players who are frustrated with getting repeatedly sacrificed each round. Probably because they are killer mains who hit their skill ceiling by bullying solo q games and now can't compete with sweaty swfs at high mmr.
I had a look at that individual's posts and literally all they do on here is complain. Then have the gall to call others crybabies. Stones, glass houses, etc.
-
They seem to come in waves. I'm assuming once they break through whatever BHVR put in place to hold them back the last time they were around. I don't think we will ever see the last of cheaters
-
I'm using it more and more. Every release lately there's a new killer aura reading perk and as a solo player it's generally in my best interest to avoid being the first one found (most at risk of being tunnelled if the killer chooses to. Team mates are generally unreliable in taking aggro). Nowhere to Hide is pretty popular at the moment among killers, so it's probably in response to that for most other players.
-
Pinhead. I'm usually the only one going for the box. When I'm on death hook I'll purposely just stand around during the chain hunt, waiting to see if anyone else goes for the box, and half the time they'd rather try and slooooowly do a gen through the hunt than risk going for the box lol
-
For killer, Trapper's Krampus skin. For survivor, Zarina's Fire Moon Festival skin and Claudette's Waterfront Massacre skin
-
Switch is the worst of the lot but at least I don't have to deal with endgame chat. People like that are why I would leave if this game ever got proximity chat. I don't need to hear that sort of rubbish.

so a game where killers are brutally murdering survivors we have to tone it down?????
It's just an image change
-
Imo killer is fine for casual - and by casual, I mean the opposite of competitive. I play killer casually, and for that reason I'm a pretty average killer as I haven't put in the hours to become better. Killer has a much higher learning curve than survivor (unless you just stick to camping and tunnelling, which is fine if that's your thing, but it's a missed opportunity to learn to play your killer as intended. Especially if you are new/low mmr)
-
For me, it's ugly and that's about it. I like that the maps are so different. It'd be boring if they were all the same. Some maps i do badly on, other maps I do well on. It's just luck of the draw.

Weighing in again for distorion. I practically run it in every match now. Helps beat aura reading and more importantly, if you know your perks, it'll tell you exactly what aura reading perks are being used so you can play around them.
Lose a token at the start of the match? Lethal pursuer, and you've just totally nullified the perk. Lose a token immediately after a surv gets hooked? Bbq and chilli. Lose a token when killer bashes gen? Nowhere to hide. Lose a token while healing? Nurse's calling. Etc etc
You can counter play those perks to avoid losing tokens. And tbh the only time I've ever seen someone really run out of Distortion tokens is when killer's add ons cause excessive aura reading. I.e. wraiths aura read while cloaked or demo's aura read whenever they portal.
Good for Blood Warden too, if someone opens the exit gates. Step in, lose a token, either leave or prepare to wait it out. Also gives away scratched mirror Myers pretty quick. It's become a really solid perk, I'm seeing more survivors running it.
-
I played my first few games without any sound/headphones and was wondering how the other survivors knew when the killer was coming
-
There was this spot on RPD where there were lockers near the door of one room, then another set on the other side of the door. I had the camera focused on the front of my survivor, not behind, so couldn't really see my environment. I think I went to heal and jumped into a locker instead. Thought oh crap, slowly got out, went through the doorway, tried again and jumped into another locker. At that point I put my controller down and just sat there shaking my head.
-
I think it would unnecessarily prolong the game. The killer would know you have the perk when you don't get sacrificed immediately, and they wouldn't be far away regardless, so losing them would be an extremely rare occurrence. Your only real option would be to find hatch before they mow you down, but hatch is only a mechanic to ensure the game ends. It's a neutral escape that doesnt count towards your MMR. So I can't see them removing an endgame mechanic (instand death when last alive is hooked) just for a slim chance at activating another endgame mechanic (hatch).
It's a perk best used early in the game to give your team a bit of extra time on gens by removing the need for someone to come get you.
-
Because it's run by a different company
-
I started watching a streamer recently called Wholesomehomies, who might fit the bill. He's a good survivor and extremely chill, and sometimes talks his decision making out loud. I wouldn't say he's like instructional or anything though, you'd be better off looking for YT guide videos if that's what you're after.

This is why perks on the survivor side should be exclusive. And the same goes for add-ons, btw.
This is a group testing the limits of perks, items, add ons, etc. This is not something you'd see in regular play. No one is dedicating their perk slots to 2 second heals lol
-
Realistically though, someone who has never played this game before can pick it up today and camp and tunnel at least one survivor to death. There are easy ways to get kills that don't require skill. Another option could be a new account by a much more experienced player. My 8 year old nephew was over yesterday and wanted to show me Fortnite so i downloaded it onto the PS5 for him. He was steamrolling everyone and when I commented how good he is at the game, he told me it's just because he's on a new account mowing down newer players lol
-
Hardcore tunnelling and camping might not be the answer you think it is though. If you focus on just one survivor, and that one survivor happens to be skilled in chase/looping, then you're leaving the other 3 with nothing to do than stick to gens. Though you said in a later comment that you still win most of your games, so I guess you're not going against good loopers?
-
I've always played DBD casually, so I think yes. I find the grind much better now. It was a primary issue of mine prior to the overhaul, but I do still acknowledge it can be overwhelming for new players. I think it comes down to mindset. To me, it's a game with a learning curve and I don't expect to be an expert or get great results immediately.
-
I'm just gonna say that I do see alot more variety among the survivors I get matched with. So I think it was successful to a degree. I think the survivors and killers who do use the meta builds do so because it's effective at helping them win, so they probably get matched up with each other quite often because the game sees them as an adequate challenge to each other.

I find it funny how Vittorio getting another skin is because of simps, but Feng receiving a new skimpy cosmetic isn't also because of simps. Also she already received a Chinese/lunar new year skins before so, technically this could be just because they want to use Feng's popularity to sell another time limited cosmetic.
Haddie not receiving anything new 8 months after her release is tragic however. No amount of "she's just not popular" excuses the fact they didn't even try with her. Your supposed to give a survivor some cosmetics after release and THEN abandon them, not abandon them after they release.
This likely is the fault of the community though. I remember when Haddie was first announced, the amount of negative comments towards her appearance was mindboggling. I don't think I saw a positive thing said about her. The devs would have seen all that too - and probably the lacklustre sales as a result - and now she's not worth their time. Hopefully her Christmas sweater sales were decent, because that will probably determine whether she gets anything else soon
-
I'm not fussed, more money in my pocket. Feng mains are probably single-handedly supporting this game at this stage haha
