I think the issue they'd face with that is that people would have high expectations when it came to the chapters. So if they released one every 6 months instead of 3, and it's an underwhelming chapter, then people would be disappointed at having waited so long for that chapter, plus the knowledge that the next chapter is 6 months away. They'd probably just stop with original chapters too and stick to licensed ones, which I know some players wouldn't mind but I quite like the original chapters
-
It probably also doesn't help that there's a bunch of already angry people hitting the forum after the Eruption nerf. They're not happy with BHVR in general, so..
-
There's been plenty of chapters released since I've started playing that I wasn't a fan of, and I never felt a need to "send a message" like BHVR needed some kind of punishment. The last chapter I bought was actually Sadako. You're not required to like and buy everything they put out, it's fine.

I mean im not going to lie..I will probably tunnel anyone with balanced landing, lithe, overcome or sprint burst off the hook when they hit dead hook.
Sorry but that's the only counter for this perk. I dont want a person with this perk active in the endgame.
I don't think this perk works with Overcome though? Once Overcome activates, you're no longer healthy so can't use this perk. You have to be healthy, running, and exhausted to activate it.

Because of the very deserved Eruption nerf? Hopefully not
Did they over nerf it? Sure
but if you leave because a perk cant carry you anymore.... idk what to tell ya
I feel like that Spider-man and Tony Stark meme is applicable here. "If you're nothing without Eruption, then you shouldn't have it"
-
I figured it would be underwhelming this month, since we got a nice cosmetic last month (although it was a recolour, it's nice - and I don't even use Feng)

People really underestimate how strong distortion is. It's so easy to gain tokens back that only killers/powers/addons that can easily eat through them gain advantage (and as of now I can only think of two killers with this advantage: full aura reading huntress thanks also to her short TR, or plague with black incense, maybe there's some more but otherwise when facing killers with full aura build I still have zero problems gaining back my tokens before they all expired).
I still can't understand why gaining tokens in chase is allowed, or why they don't change it to gen progress % instead of TR.
I'm saying this as someone who's been steadily using Distortion for a couple of months now. It's really that good
I use it from time to time too, and while strong in the games that matter, I get just as many games where I get zero value from it and it's a wasted perk slot
-
For me, it's the importance of sound, particularly for survivors. Of hearing the terror radius early enough to respond. To be able to hear Wraith's gurgle or Ghostface's cloak or Myer's breathing. Having people in my ear constantly could be detrimental to all that.
There's also the fact that, due to my region/server location, I play with alot of players from Asian regions. So English would be a barrier anyway.
-
I don't really have an opinion towards them. They're just friends playing a game together. I have no interest in playing in a swf, and I've had a mixed experience playing alongside or against them. I don't have a blanket approach, but then I don't take this game seriously either.
-
Honestly that's fine. Tunnelling has been around forever, and with Otz's recent popular video, regarding its efficiency, it would probably have been on the increase anyway. Personally I can always use more chase experience.
-
The devs are neither killer nor survivor sided. They are balance sided, and most of this player base are just impatient and - yes, I'm saying it - pretty entitled.
-
It's reset week. It's just par for the course
-
I'll be perfectly honest, if you're having a bad day then definitely don't play this game. It's really not that great for your mental health when you're already in a vulnerable state. I'll go and play LoZ or Animal Crossing or Disney Dreamlight Valley or something when I'm feeling down. Just something colourful. The general dreary atmosphere of DBD isn't what you need. And you can't control who you get matched up with. It's not worth it.

I only self delete myself first hook if no one can be bothered to unhook me before second phase.
I don't do this, purely because many times I've gone on to play a fun game despite being left to second hook, but it's 100% tempting at the time! I do get it

Yeah, im quite fed up with gen goblins/moths all you see as killer anymore is 1-2 gens or possibly 3 every 10 seconds in chase.
Sorry, off topic but I'm pretty sure you played against one of my favourite streamers earlier. I recognise your name.
-
No need to stress. Keep playing, keep getting experience and getting better at the role, and the challenges will become easier.
-
Yes, unless you are wanting 4k every single game. Which shouldn't be a thing anyway, per the way the game is designed. You're supposed to lose sometimes. Having said that, I do use Jolt.
-
It might be handy in the scenario you mention, but there's no guarantee of even getting to endgame in solo queue. Solo escapes strongly depend on the team mates you are matched with, and potato team mates will always be potato team mates. Swfs on comms can always communicate when theyre about to finish the last gen, so someone is waiting at exit. So in bridging the gap, this is by design.
I'm totally fine with them adding an off option though, for people to opt out of.

Probably in hopes of a way to get survivors off gens and get them running around looking for pallets to reset.
My guess too. Seconds matter in this game, they're giving survivors other things to do.

@NewPlayer100102 said:
You have a 31% survival rate playing as a solo survivor?
I have about the same as a solo survivor, though most survivors include hatch in their escape stats (I'm assuming OP did but would be interested to know) which, per the game's stats, isn't considered an escape. It's null and void.
-
I play with memey builds as a survivor at times and have a consistent escape/death rate. I feel as though I'm in a good spot MMR-wise, as most people I play with or against have the same energy as me. With the odd exception. I think the key is to not care about the losses and just let your MMR settle where it does. If rising in MMR is important to you, then stick with gen regression builds.
The thing about meme builds is that you are knowingly putting yourself at a disadvantage, because chances are the people you are playing with are using meta builds. But that's where half the fun is imo.

@Moxie said:
They just needed to remove the incapaciated status. That's it.
10% of current progress is a legit joke. Gen 90% done? You will remove 9%.
BHVR doesn't understand basic math.
I thought that was overkill too, and I wonder if it's because of the 3 gen strat alot of killers would use with Eruption? So in order to get proper value, killers will have to kick the gens with the most progress as opposed to the closest that have even the slightest bit of progress?
-
There's a definite learning curve. I'd advise them to hit up bot matches if new to killer, and to watch content creators tbh. I saw how good many of them played and wanted to reach that same level. It just gives you something to strive for. It also helps to not take the game so seriously either.
-
If you feel that certain M1 killers need a buff, then advocate for such. Give feedback and push for appropriate reworks. It's absolute nonsense hinging a killer's success on a single perk. Every post ranting about the nerf says the same thing - that it helps weaker killers. Then clearly the problem is that weaker killers need adjusting on a base level. We were told several months ago that perk overhauls would be a frequent thing going forward, so a bit of advice to both killers and survivors - don't rely too heavily on any perk to carry you. You're just gonna end up disappointed.

So Eruption is dead, Ruin is extinct, Dead Man's Switch is gone, Thanatophobia is destroyed and Pop Goes the Weasel has been burned to ash. To be honest, the one I miss the most is Pop Goes the Weasel and the thing is, out of these perks, it was the least complained about.
Seriously, back in the day, there weren't many survivors who would whine about Pop Goes the Weasel. I get it that the devs thought it was reasonable to nerf it because they thought it might be overwhelming because of the extra 10 seconds to generators, but it's pretty clear that those extra seconds didn't make much of a difference.
That's why I want to revert the Pop Goes the Weasel nerf. It was really my favorite perk for a long time and to see the state it is in is just depressing. Hell, you don't even need to change it back to 25% of total progression, just make it 20% of total progression instead of the current progression to make it at least usable.
They didn't do the 6.1.0 overhaul because of specific perk complaints. Like, no one complained about the already bad Self Care and that still got nerfed even further. That overhaul was purely about taking the most used perks and making them less appealing, while trying to make lesser used perks more appealing for the sake of variety.
-
I thought licensed but after the teaser I think it's original now
-
Eruption only really took off in the last few months. What did you do before then? There are many M1 killers that need some sort of rework, no doubt, but Eruption isn't the answer. Especially since we've known for several months that perk shake-ups are going to be the norm now.

Yes, and wasn't this the case with old pain res too? And people asked for it to be nerfed no? Thinking because something has a counter players aren't gonna ask for it to be nerfed to the ground is delusional, people still complained when the scream returned, why complain about that if you can see the aura and avoid the scream? You might not complain but people sure as hell have showed something having a counter doesn't mean people will use the counter, they prefer slowdown like current ruin, you can rid of it 1 minute into the match, and even if you dont you don't even notice it is into play, everything different is annoying, OP, boring and borderline uncounterable.
But eruption did need that nerf, that perk did not have a counter (just for the record)
I don't recall the complaints against PR. If there were, they were a minority. And certainly not to the extent of the complaints against Eruption.
I'm pretty sure the information effect was removed purely because the 6.1.0 perk overhaul was an attempt to change up the top most used perks by making them a bit more unappealing, and buffing lesser used perks to make them more appealing. It was about breaking the meta. It made PR synergising with DMS impossible, but that was quickly reverted anyway and how often do you see complaints about that? I mean, both survivors and killers had a ######### moment over the already bad Self-Care getting nerfed even further, but apparently Self-Care is widely popular among players in the Asian region so it ended up on the chopping block.
-
I'm confused, do you mean if a survivor is trolling by dropping and resetting a pallet to be annoying? They can just do the same thing by jumping in and out of a locker

Dead Hard is absolutely not better than it was, that's crazy talk.
Annoying still? Sure, but it was flat out busted before.
When I get burned by it now, 8/10 times it's just my own impatience in not waiting it out (and yes, there are quite a few auto-head harders out there, though not as many as some make out).
Nerfing it more and not allowing distance just means you follow up with another hit and down them anyway; the only thing more they could do with it now is just to remove it.
Which isn't going to happen.
I'll take the way it is all day over survs just hitting E and yeeting themselves to a pallet or window. It was flat out a mistake eraser.
I probably shouldn't even have an opinion since I've never used DH in my life. But I do watch content creators, and I watched one (killer main) claim new DH is better than old, but then proceed to play 3 survivor games with DH and not get a single bit of value. I can find old YT videos of this streamer using old DH and getting value always, without fail. They were quick to applaud the killers for waiting the DH out, but ignored the fact that they kept panicking and hitting DH when the killer was a mile away from them. But they'll never ever say there's a degree of skill to it because it would mean admitting they lack that skill and the survivors they go up against are skilled enough to use it properly.

Killers could use Fear monger to prevent you seeing picking survivor and hook, or slug and make more pressure, Solo could not tell the difference. So it takes 3 perk slots. Eruption is a single one and still outclass the whole combo.
Now HUD shows carried survivor so it doesnt work anymore.
It could, but I never saw it enough combined with PR + DMS for it to even matter tbh

Combined with Dead Man's Switch it basically produces the same effect that Behavior says Eruption was nerfed for, which is that it disadvantages survivors that aren't in swf on comms because they don't know when the downed survivor will be hooked. It'll be used by every killer now until it inevitably gets nerfed like every other meta regression perk.
Umm we can see when someone is being hooked. I'm guessing you don't play survivor. Their aura lights up red just before the hook happens. It gives you enough time to hop off the gen. And if you don't want to rely on the aura, then you hop off the gen when they get picked up. It's different to Eruption because a survivor could hold chase for minutes/multiple gens so you can't just wait around for them to be downed to avoid 25s incapacitation. With PR though, a killer will hook the survivor within a matter of seconds. Or, as most survivor do, you wait for the hook aura and jump off for a second.
-
No. Several months ago we got a perk overhaul plus they said that they'll be changing perks up frequently in future. They're doing exactly what they said they'll be doing. And their update said more are coming. People need to accept that no perks will be safe from now on, so don't get too attached or rely on any too strongly. I'm already seeing many survivor main streamers purposely dropping DH because they anticipate a nerf so are getting used to other exhaustion perks. Adapt.
Eruption has only been meta for a couple months and people are acting like BHVR is taking their first born child away.
-
Doubt it. Pain Res has a counter, that's why no one complains about it.
-
I've always felt that if a player is having multiple people report them in-game, despite nobody getting video or submitting to Support, then they should be flagged and at least given a glance.
-
The main complaint regarding DH was always the distance, which was nerfed several months ago. I can't see them nerfing it again so soon.
-
Probably worried because they overcommitted to the chase and now want to ensure they get a kill. Or maybe they always camp anyway. If they're repeatedly hitting you while you're on hook *then* they probably hate you lol
-
I don't often see killer incentives at all, it's typically 100% survivor. Even this past Friday and Saturday night it got down to 25% survivor, when usually by 9pm it starts popping up with killer. And I still get super sweaty games at times. BHVR have said in the past that they prioritise queue times over MMR. They did MMR testing last year and iirc, the day that was most accurate in terms of MMR also had crazy long queue times.
-
I don't find him weak, just a bit boring. I don't mind going against him but if I had a choice I'd rather not
-
I hope they make perk overhauling a regular thing tbh. Like every few months regular. Even if it makes certain perks OP for a brief time. This way both survivors and killers can't get carried by perks for too long before they have to adapt.
-
I'm not a fan of either. I can't remember what I voted for, I think one of the Coldwind maps

I think a licensed chapter this time around

Who knows. Bottom line is, BHVR are the ones with the most accurate stats. They'll know after the monitoring period just how much things have changed for killers in general. I do think some of it could be self-fulfilling prophecies. Like some players go into their games expecting the worst and it then affects the way they play.

What we need is a casual/ranked split for playlists. I like playing killer and I'm pretty good at it, but I'd like to just meme around with weak killers sometimes.
This will achieve nothing. You'll have maximum sweaty blights and nurses file into the unranked mode just because they know they'll have opponents that want to take it easier, and bully squads hell-bent on making demogorgons cry. It's just a target painted on the casual playerbase.
This, unfortunately. If there's one universal thing about DBD players, it's that they'll take the easiest opportunities to win every time. Not to mention the ones that play purely to bully. That probably goes for most pvp games tbh. If there is a mode for people to chill, it will be infiltrated immediately by sweaty killers or teams looking for easy targets. I'm a chill player but I doubt the game will ever be able to cater to players like me. I take the good with the bad.
-
My solo queue survival rate hasn't changed. I keep stats of my games too.
-
My game has been non-stop Survivor bonus lately, even on Friday and Saturday nights this weekend which surprised me. Usually it switches to killer in the evening but not this weekend. I played til about 11pm on Saturday night, and it was fluctuating between 25% to 100% Survivor. So too many killers down my way.
-
You tried to do the objective, you werent holding the game hostage. I wouldn't stress.
For future reference - when a killer starts a 3 gen from the start, try and break it first or die trying. It's the only way you'll avoid these looong games that follow. I'd rather die at the start of the game, than waste time doing the first 4 gens and then just have to give up later in order to move on. Also run Distortion. Alot of these 3 gen killers rely on Nowhere to Hide heavily and don't really look around. I broke a 3 gen on a Huntress the other day, by simply crouching down behind the gen while she kicked it and left. Tokens were replenished constantly because she and I both stayed in the same 3 gen zone.

I'm not crazy right? This is still bull that I've got to wait for the whole timer as the killer dances around? Why are people acting like this is a good thing? Haha let's say he hasn't closed it now I'm just slowly so slowly crawling around till I find it just to have him\her close it. How is that not stoping my progress there is nothing I can do. Can I at least bleed out faster?
No one is saying it's a good thing. At all. It sucks. But it's not hostage taking, as the game will end in a matter of minutes. Being bodyblocked in a corner by a killer though, for example, is considered being held hostage because you are there for the foreseeable future without any indication of game progression. You're at the mercy of everyone else, and reliant on them to bring the game to an end.

Yeah but if I'm bleeding out on the ground last survivor there is nothing I can do to progress the game. I can't open the door from the ground and killer has shut the trap door isn't that hostage then?
You are actively bleeding out. The game is progressing.
The killer has also shut the hatch. Endgame collapse has started. The game is in the process of ending.
I'm a survivor main who also dislikes being slugged, but this is all clear stuff.
