For balancing purposes.
If the devs balance around swf, then solo queue players will get steam rolled by killers.
If the devs balance around solo queue players, then killers will get steam rolled by swfs.
So they decided to bridge the gap between solo and swf, by giving solo information that swfs already get via comms. This way they can balance around killers and survivors as a whole.

It's normal with new killers. Players don't know how to play the killer yet but still want to win, so there's plenty of tunnelling and camping.
It'll die down in a few weeks.

You're worrying about something that hasn't even happened

I only faced one SM today.
She hard tunnel and small area camp for the most part. She used her drones to extend her camp range.
The community seems to hate this, but I don't see it as all bad.
I don't want to play as her but, It seems okay to play against.
That new map though. #########, they added an unreachable area to the little smoke filled hut where you can't see.
Why would they do this?
That's normal though for a new killer. Every time a new killer comes out, there's plenty of tunnelling and camping in the first couple weeks or so. Because people don't know how to play the killer but still want to win. Wesker was so bad for it because he was so popular, it was game after game of Wesker just tunnelling and camping. I don't see that now that most people have learned him.

Probably a glitch, like the glitch that took 'The Cannibal' name from his perks for a time
-
That's a massive waste of time when they'll just do what they've always done and fast vault and jump in and out of lockers
-
I'm assuming the 19m range is just for the scream, not the noise notification?
-
Well 20min I can deal with, but if a game goes over 30min then I'm ducking out. The worst thing about the Eruption 3-gen kick meta was how long the games dragged for. Who has time for that

My favourite realm (Red Forest) getting updated is exciting

The same thing happens on Dead Dawg with that cart near the Gallows. Survivors will stay or mess around on top of the cart while the rest of the team has to play the game.
The killer at least can get up on the cart, or even down them from a certain angle. I don't think that's possible with the rocks on Ormond.
-
I'm not buying at all. I think the killer looks cool but my brain isn't good at multitasking under pressure. The survivor perks just don't appeal to me. Cut Loose looks okay but I prefer the perks we already have to that one, so I won't use it.

why are we punished with teams way above or below our skill level? i will gladly wait 5 to 10 minutes for a match with equally skilled players instead of being fed to a p50 to p100 swf group already queued up.
i am already annoyed that my mmr doesnt deteriorate after having 4 teams back to back yesterday night i played legion, and wraith and got absolutely schooled with bully squad tactics.
How is that fun for any player trying to get better that doesnt lobby dodge?
They played around with the SBMM last year for like a week, where every day they set different parameters and then got feedback from the players. The most accurate day in terms of matchmaking was also the longest queue times iirc, with some people apparently waiting for like up to an hour for a match. The general consensus from the playerbase was that the longer wait times were most definitely *not* preferable just to get the most accurate matchmaking.
-
So the guy got a 4k despite not waiting out DH? I'm confused, it clearly didn't cost him the game so... I guess it's not that bad?
-
I've been saying they should do perk overhauls every few months if they can manage it. Shake up as many as they can. That way there's none of this over-reliance on certain perks. You'll need to adapt and, well, get your general game sense up then.
-
I wish I got to see Ormond and Crotus Penn. Felt like every game was Dead Dawg

It's not just sacrificing and escaping that increases your MMR. Your opponents MMRs are also factored in. If you gen rush and run circles around a killer with a lower MMR and escape, your MMR isnt going to increase because the game expects the people with higher MMRs to win. Likewise, if you're tunnelling or camping "the weak link", your MMR isnt going to increase because the game expects you to beat that individual. The devs have also said that 50% of the time you should face killers you have the capacity to escape from, and 50% more of a challenge.
In your case, it might have been that playing with new friends meant that most of your Killers were also less experienced and so the game expected you to win, which you did. So your MMR *should* have stayed relatively the same. But then all of this is just going off the info that's been given here, which I may be misunderstanding. Are you definitely losing because of your team mates, or could it be that the game is now giving you more challenging killers to compensate for the ones you and your swf escaped?
-
I personally don't have an issue with him or his power so I'm fine with him staying as is. But I see him *alot* and it can get tedious. I remember when he got released, I LOVED his chase music. Now I hate it lmao
-
I'm glad you're taking your health more seriously! Playing video games all day isn't good. Work provides good mental stimulation, not to mention the amazing social benefits.
-
Definitely an MMR factor. I have the game on Switch and PS5. I'm firmly in mid-MMR on the Switch and it's consistently 100% survivor up until around 9pm, then it can be anywhere from 25% survivor to 75% killer, with 100% killer on the odd occasion (mostly weekends). On the PS5 I'm low-MMR at the moment and while it's still usually survivor, it can just randomly change to killer with no rhyme or reason, and late night is definitely 100% killer.
So same region and server, same TV, just different MMRs. I can change between the two consoles and have two different incentives.
-
What's wrong with 9 hooks? 12 hooks is a 4k and you weren't far off. One more survivor mistake or one less killer mistake and it could have easily slid your way. If that has you upset, I'm assuming it's because you're used to getting more than 9 hooks and 1 or 2 kills. The devs have said many times that the game will serve up opponents you have the capacity to beat at least 50% of the time, so if you're doing better than that then perhaps your MMR has increased and the game is giving you more challenges?
I play solo on survivor, and the HUD hasn't made any difference to my escape rate. My escape rate dropped after the 6.1 killer buff update and it certainly hasn't recovered, despite being thrown a quality of life update. I don't suddenly get more efficient team mates - the HUD just shows me how inefficient they actually are. And it certainly hasn't made me better in chase, how can it? It sounds like, as I said above, you're simply getting more challenging opponents.
-
In addition to the points above, it'd just be more things for killers to patrol as well. And if they don't want to patrol then just camp the closest chests or battery casing to stop survivors from even getting to the gen stage. If I wanted to do puzzles I'd play a puzzle game, you know?
-
I would actually play Nea more if this outfit was released. It's pretty cool. I'm not a fan of most of her cosmetics
-
I think Legion will be a big part of it. They're already the subject of the first DBD comic release, and they have a certain appealing aesthetic, especially for a younger audience. Trapper is the main man, but clearly inspired by Jason, so I feel they'll want something to separate the movie from F13
-
I don't expect a masterpiece out of Blumhouse, but as a horror enthusiast I've watched and enjoyed many of their movies. I'm looking forward to this! Hopefully it doesn't go the way of the Funko pops (still bummed about those)
-
They might want to make it last in case they need it in a clutch (had a game yesterday where we had to do an endgame save, my medkit was depleted, and the other survivor was on the opposite side of the killer and hook), or maybe seeing if you wanted the healing points?

What like everyone tolerated Eruption which was a fun perk for killer.
It dragged games on forever. How is that fun? Lol
-
I wouldn't mind if it did. I have everything from the previous release, but it'd be nice to see more Demoboys running around. A new chapter with new killer and survivor/s would be the icing on the cake.
-
As a survivor main, I say go early. Games start out strongest for survivors, with plenty of resources/pallets. As the game progresses, those resources fall and the game (should) start to slide in the killers favour. I have many games where a couple gens will pop fast, and the game still ends in a 4k. If you're finding your games aren't going this way, I'd definitely try an early game build for awhile. Once you get that first hook, then you have 1 survivor going for the unhook/heal, 1 you've just engaged in the next chase, which leaves only 1 to sit on gens. Get that going early.
-
This has always been a thing. There's nothing in the BP that says you are getting one-off cosmetics.
-
You say tunnelling is the only way to win against decent survivors. Thing is, decent survivors aren't going anywhere. They can balance the maps better, leave gen regression perks as is, etc etc, but decent survivors will still exist and you'll still face them. And if they're why you tunnel, then you will still tunnel.
-
Their SBMM made me laugh today. I'm in low MMR hell atm as I just started survivor from scratch on the PS5. I got matched with 3 very new players in one game, which is fine and expected. They were missing skill checks new. The Huntress we got matched against though was hitting people from across the map lol then the very next game, I got matched with 3 experienced survivors who ran circles around the obvious baby killer. I don't even know anymore lmao
-
Yes. I use the same build for killer atm because I literally don't have alot of killer perks unlocked, but i am always changing my survivor build. At least every week or so, even if I just change up a perk or two. Perk overhauls are also going to happen more and more, so I wouldn't advise getting too comfortable with any.

Friendly Competition is just a worse version of Deja Vu. It had a requirement to activate, and encourages you to play less efficiently. The reward isn't worth it. You might as well just run Deja Vu.
Teamwork: power of two is just a weaker blood pact that works on everyone but loses the aura reading.
Cut Loose is interesting, but I think it'll be extremely niche and won't really be used much.
Blood Rush will be meta. It should be nerfed to at least 40 seconds of broken. The risk just isn't high enough for the reward.
Collective Stealth could be interesting. I don't think it'll be meta, but could be useful paired with We'll Make It. Unhook someone, heal them quick, killer won't be able to find you as easily if you stick together. Problem is communicating that with solo survivors.
Background Player is just a sabo perk. It's like a worse version of Sprint Burst. It only works when the killer probably won't be chasing you.
It's interesting, I actually think Cut Loose will be the popular one. I think alot of survivors will test out Blood Rush initially but then it'll die down.

I had a pizza delivery Dwight urban evading around the edge of the Pale Rose map a few days ago. I dunno why but it made me laugh. This bright beacon on such a dreary map, and he got away with it too (was the last man standing) though I think he was just memeing around. When I needed a heal I just ran the wall til I found him and he helped me out at least. Thankfully I don't come across these sorts of players often. It would probably drive me mad if I did lol
-
Was the 5 gen chase game you're referring to the one where you were Nemesis on RPD? I recognize your username. You went up against a (solo) streamer I watch who is actually really really good at looping. Their looping skills are actually the reason I watch them in the first place.
I know it probably doesn't help, but just from someone who actually watched you play I don't think you did badly at all, you simply overcommitted. The game I'm referring to had Steve (who you downed pretty quickly) with Deliverance at the end.
-
I've given up. Came to terms with the fact that Switch is just the worst way to play this game, and I moved onto the PS5 fully now. Was waiting for cross progression so 2 years of progress and hundreds of dollars didn't go to waste, and I'm hopeful one day I'll still be able to move it all across but for now I'm leaving it. I'm only using the free survivors and perks though on the PS, and whatever I get from the Shrine. Can't bring myself to buy everything again.
-
I'm not digging them, personally. I think they're better for swfs so I'm passing for now

I rhibk iron will is bugged for killer. I cannot hear any survivor sound even though the perk says it is 75%. it sounds like 100%.
If they are crouching, then sound goes down even further. On already quiet survivors, for example Kate, Iron Will can seem almost like 100% when they're crouching.
-
I'm pretty sure my country connects to an Asian server, as I play with a lot of people with Asian usernames. Sometimes they show up like that. I think it might be symbols or characters that your game isn't recognising for some reason.
-
I just left a game where I did near all 5 gens on my own while the other survivors messed with flashlights. Those who say they're a great slowdown are correct, what a tedious game that was. I unhooked one of them on my way out but didn't stick around past that.
-
This would definitely help. I've moved to PS5 fully now from the Switch, so I'm starting survivor again at low MMR, and I'd forgotten how everyone will just slowly walk around the area when you're being facecamped, instead of jumping on a gen and taking advantage of it lol I'm hanging on but it's going to waste. I can't wait to get out of this MMR hell lmao

I think it's more that killer challenges are in line of normal gameplay, whereas survivor challenges are outside the line of normal gameplay and sometimes even require soft-throwing. But one survivor messing up like that used to not be too big of a deal if the killer wasn't hard-sweating, so they were mostly acceptable. Yeah, you'll probably just give the killer a free down with that broken ankles challenge, but one free down isn't that big of a deal.
Or wasn't, rather.
That does make sense
-
There's nothing you can do. I've come across people like this in real life, let alone the amount of them that congregate in online gaming communities. ######### people walk among us every day. It's not the way you played, or didn't play. In fact, it likely wasn't personal in the slightest. They're just terrible people and being terrible is what they're good at.

The only reason this perk is decent is the healing meta, killers are bored when 4 survivors bring med kits so game is now unfair. COH is an issue so as a response Franklin's is used
COH doesn't require any items to work. So I don't see Franklin's usage being related to COH.
-
Perhaps killer mains are more likely to complete survivor challenges after doing their own, while survivor mains are less likely to cross over and complete killer challenges? That might be why they make the killer ones simpler?

Not sure if people are ever able to understand the fact that you can not make the game good for everyone. When people do not like a game they should not play it. When people are the opinion that something would higher game quality they should give feedback and keep discusing it when they love the game itself. All other posts are just waste of time for devs and also for the topic creator.
Yup. There's plenty of things I dislike in this game, but I understand the devs don't cater to me personally. Give feedback. Maybe they will change things to your liking, maybe they won't. But you need to be prepared for the fact that there's a very good chance you won't get what you want. What you do once you come to terms with that is up to you.
-
It's definitely strong. I play solo and usually bring a medkit, as I sometimes can't rely on team mates for heals, and if everyone in the group has an item I usually hide my medkit at the start of the game as I expect Franklins. Also when going against Pinhead

Did you just say he deserves to lose because he chose to play trapper against a 4 man?
I think "deserve" is the wrong word being used, I think the best word is "expect". Weak killers aren't balanced around coordinated 4man swfs, and if they were then solo players would stand 0% chance against killer in general. So playing a weak Killer, with weaker perks and add-ons, against certain survivors, I would absolutely expect the killer to lose. They may not, but I would expect it. It's just like when I play solo survivor. I don't use meta perks, and when I come across a Nurse using meta perks I don't expect to win.
-
In my experience, Huntresses are one of the worst when it comes to anger issues. I have no idea why. I played against one yesterday who was great with their shots but pretty mediocre chase-wise. I'm average in chase too, but kept losing her by ducking out of sight and doubling back. Which wouldnt work on very many killers tbh. When she finally got me on hook she just stood there hitting me the entire time until I was sacrificed. I took it as a compliment though.
