Usually to chill at night after I've put the kids to bed
-
Yeah. It, and its usual combination with certain other perks, can drag games out way too long.
-
Devs have said hatch only exists to ensure the game ends. Otherwise the survivor and killer could wind up engaged in a long a** game of hide and seek. It's why a lot of players don't consider hatch an escape, and escaping via hatch doesn't affect the survivors MMR either so the game doesn't even rank it as an escape too
-
I think it's one of those problems that will always be around, even if they do start handing out bans. Comes down to two solo players pretty much waiting for the other to die. I typically die third in my games because the 4th survivor will hide while I try to do gens.
-
They did originally but iirc that ended in September.
-
It becomes background noise eventually and you stop paying attention to it
-
The devs have said only a small percentage of the player base are at high MMR. So I can't see them making any sort of balancing around that level. To get into high MMR in the first place, for both killers and survivors, requires alot of sweaty play. That energy won't change once you're at that level. The survivors you're facing in high MMR are there purely because they utilise the most gen efficient perks and best tools. You're not going to find meme or fun builds in high MMR unfortunately. Sweaty survivors will get sweaty killers and vice versa.
-
I've never tried an escape streak, but I started tracking my games a few months ago - as solo - and 3 in a row is my longest escape before a death. I don't count hatch in that though.
-
Mine is still survivor, haven't seen it switch yet

Billy, Blight, Demo, Wesker have better map mobility than Nurse.
Correction: one* of the best. She has to utilise her blinks or else she's pretty slow. A Nurse refusing to chase feels as odd to me as a camping Nurse does - as in you may as well use another killer if you go into a game intending to play that way from the get go.
-
At least a Nurse is more likely to engage in chase, as she has the best map pressure and travel. I can't see too many employing the old hit, kick, and leave.

And they said that, how long ago, almost a year?
SoonTM
The survivor icons we are getting in this update were first promised 18 months ago and we are just getting them now. So Twins aren't too far off I imagine
-
I'll still use Kindred, which will give me that bit of extra info. Presumably once someone is hooked, another will get chased shortly after, so there will be two on gens. If one leaves it's likely they're going for the unhook, so the other will just stick to the gen. I think whatever confusion comes about in these scenarios will be made up in gen efficiency.

@jajay119 said:
I'm confused; how are they getting themselves back up repeatedly? Unbreakable only activates once per match.
Do you mean the survivors were healing each other? If other survivors are healing each other from dying to injured right in front of the killer... then why wasn't your friend just slugging all of them? If they're truly being malicious in their behaviour then this surely the logical thing to do to stop them? This can only be a bully situation if you let it be one.
If youre letting them heal to injured multiple times they may have thought you wanted to farm points and thought you were having a 'friendly' match. If you're slugging someone and wondering off to find someone else... then you can't blame people for healing and getting them up off the ground... it's kinda the killers fault for not choosing to hook in that scenario.
Apologies if I'm missing something here, but I don't see how this scenario happened or was considered bullying.
Probably Boon: Exponential. It's a favourite for bully squads

Damn i find the irony hilarious at this point. All these complaints about seeing the same killer perks again and again.
And the only thing i have to say is:
Welcome to how killer felt during the years 3-5, dh/ds/ub/BT/.... Any combination of those plus one extra, on 4 survivors, in the majority of games.
I never used any of those perks, still don't. There are plenty of us casual players. And yet I'm subjected to this gen kick meta that's dragging my games out to two or three times the normal length. I can deal with the same perks every game, but I don't have the time to spend in these long games.
-
@Seraphor said:
Right off the bat "Most killer sided meta we have" yeah, IF you're running Eruption + Call Of Brine + Overcharge + Nowhere To Hide. If you're not that boring, good luck.
This regression meta is so strong, that survivors are ready for this full regression meta, so if you're not running this meta then you're severely handicapped, and so killers tunnel.
As a killer who isn't so boring, I don't run this meta or camp/tunnel, and it's not a walk in the park.
I do think the most OP killers could do with nerfs, so it could open the door to those 'killer incentive' solutions. Nurse and Blight could have their power completely reset and go on cooldown in the event of a stun. This way, a good Nurse/Blight can still play well by avoiding stuns, it raises that skill ceiling even higher for a 'good' Nurse or Blight, while making average Nurses and Blights more manageable for good survivors who can secure stuns, particularly via DS.
I was watching a popular streamer play survivor the other night, and every time they got a 3-gen kick meta killer (which sadly was often) they'd immediately set out, and succeed, in breaking the 3 gen at the beginning of the game. The killer would then start chasing finally out of necessity, but I'd say 8/10 were really bad at it. Whether it's because they've been coasting on the meta build and not getting proper chase practice in, or because having 4 regression perks means they have no perks to assist with chase, I dunno. But they had no choice but to tunnel once their primary strat was gone. It was really sad to watch and honestly I'm hoping that's not indicative of the future of this game. 3 gen or bust is not a good way to approach a game.
-
The team will just be coming back from Xmas and new years holidays. I doubt it's anything significant.
-
We had a mid-year update where gens were increased to 90 seconds and gen regression perks were buffed to the point where a new gen kick meta has evolved. And there is still tunnelling.

I don't feel like I get better at them. I have the same thing where sometimes I get a bunch in a row and then I won't be able to hit one to save my life. That's on PS4. On Switch, greats are damn near impossible to hit on purpose because the skill check timing changes due to the inconsistent single-digit fps.
Yeah Switch is a joke for trying to hit greats. I see people talking up Hyperfocus and Fogwise and I'm just like yeah, have fun with those everyone lol they're easier to hit on the PS5 but I really only play killer on that
-
Very true. Since this combo has become meta I've also noticed an increase in complaints about the best perks being hidden behind a pay wall. Some do say they're referring to Nemesis, Sadako, and Pinhead, but even the ones who don't it's pretty clear that's what they're referring to. I'm always tempted to say they should hold onto their money because they'll regret spending it if there's a nerf incoming. Which there probably is.
Most players were in agreement that old DH was a crutch perk and those players wouldn't do as well without it, so killers would do well not to fall into the same perk trap.

Well coordinated SWFs can pull it off, but not always. Most don't play like that though, I imagine because games that end quickly can be boring. I play solo and have been playing for a couple years now and very rarely see fast gens going off in my games. Content creators like to showcase these things because they get views and get people talking. Their job is literally playing the game. But it doesn't mean it's the norm nor that it needs a cap.
-
I think it's fine. It's actually the first tile I learned to loop because its one of the easiest, and I'm still learning other ones. I always look at it like the learner's loop. It gives newer players a chance.

BHVR are a business and they want people to play their game. Even the people who DC or let go on hook or go AFK. I can't see them penalising the latter two as well.

Yeah I'd be down

Which is funny because stealth is how this game is intended to be played I'm pretty sure. Nowadays every game feels like a race so sneaking is a waste of time. If you're not getting chased you should be on a gen because you'll quickly run out of resources and/or lose a survivor. IIRC prolonging chases and looping are not seen as trademarks of a good or skillful player (according to devs) and the game is not designed with that in mind. Updates seem to be aimed at restricting a survivor's ability to juice. So if you can't sneak and it's damn near impossible to juice a decent killer, what can ya do?
I would love something closer to old DbD than what we have now. I had way more fun as a solo survivor back then. I feel like the game has been so over-saturated with new content without taking a necessary step-back to re-evaluate, remove/ tweak things that don't work, and ensure the feel of the game and what people love about it remains. Adding more perks to combat the current meta issues is not the move imo
Might have been intended once upon a time but definitely not anymore. I'm sure there's not many players who don't groan when they get a team mate with a combo of like Spine Chill and Urban Evasion and Iron Will or whatever. Or when you get downed or hooked and see that team mate just crouched in the corner the entire time, making no move to come unhook or do a gen. Dark clothing is just the icing on the cake. Because as you said - time is way too important to waste in this game now. Anyone playing stealthy is more of a liability than an asset to the team.

To be fair, Stealth is not really viable anymore. The Maps are so bright that it is hard to hide and most cosmetics which get released are also not really viable for Stealth. And those which were have been nerfed in that regard (mostly Claudettes Cosmetics).
And to be honest, the old feel and looks of the Maps was way better.
Yeah, I definitely agree regarding stealth. I actually said as such in another post yesterday on that topic. Survivors can be tracked via scratch marks, injury noises (Iron Will is pretty useless), pools of blood, footsteps, plus killers seem to get more and more aura perks with every release. It was just an interesting comparison, because there are some streamers that I never would have imagined I'd see playing stealthy in the first place lol

The player drop has happened directly in July 2022 with peak player count going down from 96,390 (June 2022) to 68,130 (July 2022) or -30%. For comparison in 2021 it went from 105,052(June 2021) to 96,393 (July 2021) so around -10%.
And it's not just the stats. I have 18 friends owning DBD on Steam and only 2 of them have played recently. In-game you almost only see players with 1000+ hours now. Angrypug stopped streaming DBD last month despite having 10000+ hours.
You're missing though that in June we had the big meta overhaul update, which brought in a massive boost in numbers. In fact, you can see it in the image you posted previously, in the bottom right hand corner (as part of the broader chart).
Player numbers doubled with that update, presumably people who had already left the game previously and came to check it out post major update. And a chunk of those players simply didn't stick around again.

Lol! Idk i mean yea there are some issues but its not unplayable. Have over 6k hrs on switch. Yea switch. And i can definitely rock a killers world if they sleep on me.
I play primarily on the Switch too, how do you find the camera sensitivity though? I have it on 100% and it's still way too slow, especially compared to when i play on PS5 which is just way smoother as well. Wondering if maybe I need to buy new joy con's?
-
It's new years weekend, and lots of people have time off and like to play with their friends. Lots of swf teams = sweaty killers = sweaty survivors, etc. Every time there's a major holiday I go into games with zero expectations.
-
I'm assuming since you brought a meme build though that you didn't care if you won or not? I'm a casual survivor who doesn't play with meta builds, I like to just chill as well. I face heaps of sweaty killers running meta builds, and if I actually wanted a good chance then I'd bring something better than what I usually do. But I bring meme builds or random stuff to play around with because I don't care what the other side does.
-
I'll try and pick the person up. I'd rather a chase or something as opposed to hiding while they bleed out. When I'm the slugged one being camped, I like to crawl in the opposite direction of the last survivor and crawl up to random lockers and just waste the killers time. Usually they think you are leading them to the other survivor.
-
A couple weeks ago I was on YouTube looking up old DBD gameplay. It really did seem like a totally different game. One of my favourites was an old Tru3 video. It surprised the heck out of me watching him be stealthy around the edges of the map, and giving advice on being careful with scratch marks etc. You watch him and other streamers now and they're just running and scratch-marking all over the place lol
-
If I had to pick, I'd stick with icons. I can always just use Kindred (and I always do anyway). Icons provide info throughout the game as opposed to just when someone is hooked. If you mean basekit kindred that lasts the entire game, well then I'd definitely pick that. It'd be like a combination of kindred, bond, empathy, and open handed.
-
The photograph image that the team put up on Twitter, I think it was, made me really hopeful for a Fatal Frame chapter. They'd probably make a mint on the cosmetic sales alone
-
I think you have to be halfway down the stairs before it works
-
I've been thinking for awhile that stealth play is no longer viable in this game. Between the scratch marks, injured noises, pools of blood, Iron Will nerf, footsteps, and the multitude of aura perks killers seem to get every release now, being stealthy is clearly something the devs want done away with.
-
I'm currently a stay at home mum, so I play whenever I have a spare moment. It really is a different game at different times of the day.
-
My issue with this meta is simply how long it can drag games out for. I don't have time for 30-40+ min games. Those spare moments where I'll pick up my handheld Switch and contemplate a quick game just aren't happening anymore.
-
The devs said the kill rate stats are more complicated than people think and you shouldnt draw too many conclusions from them. One thing to consider is that DCs don't count in the stats, and Nurse gets a lot of DCs. I'd wager more than other killers. So those are potential kills that are null and void. Also, she has a high learning curve. Those who try her, do badly, and then abandon her, will be bringing her kill rates down. And I'd wager alot of people try her since she has a reputation for being a strong killer.

If bleeding survivors out on floor became a trend and more killers do so without consequences, I would uninstall. ;)
Why do you think there's an announcement about unbreakable base kit?
UB basekit has nothing to do with current slugging. There's a reason it was introduced in the Finisher Mori PTB. It's to complement that update, because the Finisher Mori enables ending the game without a single hook. Since hooks are central to the game, the devs need to still make sure killers use them. Hence, the option for survivors to pick themselves up if the killer tries to slug for a Finisher Mori instead of just getting there naturally.
-
Malicious slugging sucks but it's not a common thing, at least in my experience. All games have players with bad manners unfortunately. For that reason, I don't like the often suggested 'give up' option. I feel like there is a massive gap between slugging maliciously and slugging strategically. And i know alot of players would give up when the latter is in play as well. I don't DC, but first penalty is like a minute I think? Not advocating it but just pointing out that there are options..
-
You'll get it. I don't think it's ever officially been confirmed that it's 7 days after DLC purchase. I bought it the day it was released and for weeks everyone was speculating how to get it. I thought I missed out until I looked through my charms one day and saw it, so I didn't even see the special intro.
-
Sadly no. I really wish it was. I want my Switch progress on my PS5
-
I can't speak for everyone obviously, but I don't let go on hook and my escape rate (solo) is a bit under the 40%. Excluding hatch escapes and pity escapes from killers, my escape rate is probably around 30%
-
Yeah, I pretty much accept it's ggs when I get a good Nurse or Blight. You need to change your perspective around those two once you load in. Accept that you're probably going to die, so take the time to get some bp and look at it like a chance to get some chase practice in

The root issues are a weak spine to tough through pvp games and the missing balls to simply quit a game and switch to anotherjf it isn't 100% to their liking.
Pvp games never are or were games to chill and relax.
I would never start a round of R6S, lol or valorant with the intent to chill and relax because me being absentminded and unfocused would lose my team the game.
And unlike a whole lot of people i still feel a kind of obligation towards the team when queuing up for such games. Sadly that makes me part of the minority and a dying breed.
PVP games can absolutely be chill and relaxing. I literally play DBD because I find it relaxing. As Survivor I don't care about escaping, and as killer I don't care about 4king. I focus on building my skill - everything else will follow. It's probably why in the 2 years I've been playing, I've only ever DCd twice. Once when my old headphones went on the fritz and once when the killer and survivors started trolling me because I didn't want to farm. IMO more players in this community need to play more chill. We aren't the ones DCing. It's the competitive lot who rage quit.
-
Devs have said the function of hatch is simply to ensure the game ends. If no hatch, then the last survivor could just play a longa** game of hide n seek. So either survivor jumps in hatch and game ends, or killer closes hatch and endgame starts, which ends the game in a couple minutes.
