Teleporting as killer, nearly all actions are delayed by at least 1-2 seconds. Getting hit through every pallet and vault as the survivor. 40-60 ping in every lobby.

    Nice.

Sorry but since you have 40-60 PING in your lobbies, the getting hit through a pallet and vault is not the Dedicated Servers fault — that's the player's fault. ?

  • DCs are not tolerated in any way, and soon, when the developers do something called the "Ban Wave", you'll some threads where people are upset because they been banned for DCing. Community members who been apart of the community for a while know what I'm talking about. Therefore, BHVR does care about your experience and they don't tolerate DCing.

So for the Tome Challenge: "None Shall Survive" which requires you to kill all survivors in a trial 1 time(s) by any means.

Does that mean I can do any of the following:

    -Mori

    -Let them Bleed Out

    -Hook/Sacrifice

    -Other Method

Or does it have to be by your hand (Mori) only?

Even DCs count as "killing" a survivor :D

Just recently figured that one out when everyone DC'd against my Spirit. ?

I can't take the dumb teammates anymore. It's so clear that song generators are just not priority for so many players. If this were a different game with bigger teams the idea might work, but when even one player trying to get some stupid secondary objective is on your team, it makes it hard to have fun.

I don't need to win to have fun, but I have to feel like there was a chance. I'll be maining killers now, but even that is a bit less fun for the same reason.

I know I'm not the first person to feel this way, but it's just really disappointing the game has come to this.

I actually like the archives, it's something different and it's definitely beats having nothing! ??

  • I haven't noticed any FPS problems until after the Archives update.

However, it's not in-game problems, it's mainly the lobby running at 3 FPS (I was able to count my FPS, it was that bad). :(

Okay I've been playing since the update and I have never, ever had this much of a problem with my frame rate. The Halloween event menu is killing my Ps4, walking on Hawkins drops frames no matter what you do, bloodlust mid chase, you get the idea. The last noticable update was back on the End Game Collapse update and that was awhile back. Ever since the game has slowly been going back to how it was before that update.

I know it's not my Ps4 because it can run many games well.

In short, console needs to be optimized because it's just getting really bad.

You know it's bad when two trusted members are saying something about console FPS! ??

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/101489/please-change-the-hatch

    No.

Look, nobody enjoys losing, I get it. But keys being able to open the hatch is already a highly contentious issue. Adding the ability for survivors to do that WITHOUT a key will just break this game, and send killer frustration through the roof. As it stands, whether gates spawn close or far apart, that’s still TWO areas a killer has to worry about moving back and forth between.

What you’re suggesting would make endgame or EGC entirely pointless for killers. Slugging and mori instances would increase tenfold to avoid this, or thee would just be a drop off in people playing killer, meaning longer lobby search times for survivors.

If you’re the last alive it’s MEANT to be that the odds are stacked against you. Either you’re fortunate enough to reach the hatch before the killer, or you’re not.

I think he understands that, but we're talking about the scenario where the killer can keep both Exit Gates in LoS.

Sure, it's supposed to be hard for the survivor to escape because they failed, but it shouldn't be impossible due to luck. ?

  • @SnakeSound222 said:

I’m on a regular PS4, and I rarely had any problems until patch 3.2.0 came out. Now there’s a 70% chance of my FPS will start tanking after I play a single game. It gets worse with each patch. I played a couple of games last night where I could feel how bad the FPS was while I was just moving as Killer. I honestly think the devs are trying to fix it, but they can’t figure out how to stop each patch from creating new errors. I’m shocked that my game lasted this long, especially because I main Doc and Freddy (two of the most graphically demanding Killers) on a weaker console.

I feel like the developers are trying too, but they just don't have enough time to see what problems arise when they launch a new update. That's why you see them keep a list of known issues because they just don't have the time to go through the update for bugs and optimization. ?

I really want to get an update about their progress with consoles getting 60FPS. ?

  • Yes, if EAC can detect you changing files, they will automatically permanently ban you. However, from what I heard from others, you can easily get your ban appealed because they only care about files that give an "unfair" advantage. Therefore, since the files you changed are not giving you an advantage, and the developers don't care about their playerbase changing character pictures, EAC will likely appeal the ban. 😁🤗

@NMCKE The developers are not just "missing out on some things here and there". If that was the case how do you explain the performance getting worse and worse? And are you familiar with what a memory leak is?

For me, they was doing great until this update dropped and basically made my XB1 X say, "I quit this job"

No, I don't know what a memory leak is. 😓

  • @NoShinyPony said:

@NMCKE I'm not that optimistic since the performance on PS4 is not on a constant low level but instead gets worse with pretty much every update.

The performance was a lot better 18 months ago.

Also the latest memory issue is surely not encouraging.

Typically, when I try to optimize my games, I compress my data by replacing repeated code with an icon then add what the icon is supposed to represent on a legend (or for short, this is called a function).

I think the developers already do this, but they are missing out on some things here and there. 😁

  • @[Deleted User] said:

BHVR was like "The way to fix Nurse is we'll add a cooldown for her cooldown".

They should've extended the fatigue duration that's comparable to her current cool-down on her blinks.

Survivors get more opportunities to break LoS, it dosen't feel awkward, and you don't have to rage when you're 0.1 seconds early on your blink cool-down. 😭

DbD was already laggy on my PS4 Pro before the last update, and it surely didn't get better. (Yes, other games run absolutely fine.)

But what is new is that also the menu is now sometimes laggy.

The devs must have added at least one memory leak with the latest patch since closing and restarting the game helps a bit with the lags.

It's so laggy in the lobby screen that I can count my current FPS. 😓

Now, imagine if we didn't have top quality consoles... OH BOY! 😱

I think this should be sorted out soon because if it's this bad, to a point where top quality consoles struggle, then something is wrong with optimization! However, I have faith in BHVR, they can fix this if they put their mind to it! 🤗😁

The 200 ping might be do to more players in various countries. I've played against maybe 1 US killer in the last few days who had green ping but everyone else is in the 200's. France, Germany, Italy, UK, and Scotland to name a few. I love being able to play with people across the world but the ping suffers for it.

Yeah, I also been getting tons of error messages, and my PING has been floating around 200 recently when I usually have 100.

Personally, survivors gameplay is much more stressful.

As a Survivor there are much more aspects you cannot control: allies suiciding/dc'ing, or they just are newbies, killers playing unfun strategies (camping, tunneling), stupid rng (10000 hex skill checks per second, ruin in very good spot and it standed for the whole game).

I hate Ruin sometimes, but then I play killer and it's a completely different story! 😅

  • @Aztreonam78 said:

    And Why?

I often play both sides to get a better understanding of the game and why certain players feel this way about somethings.

For example, I used to play a ton of Nurse and was oblivious to how fast generators can get done. Once I played an M1 killer as recommend by @NoShinyPony (correct me if I'm wrong), it suddenly hit me that generators go by way too fast.

However, I been playing a ton of survivor recently because double BP = Terrible Killer Queues. 🥺😕

By less than a second or two tops. Any loop that takes 3 seconds to go around normally is long enough for those to appear and a survivor to then react by quick vaulting thereby removing spirit's power from the equation altogether. I suppose the spirit could then use those scratch marks just to return, but then survivors would be able to then turn that around and not fast vault altogether and now she has a cooldown and on the wrong side of the pallet. Almost like the spirit becomes the guessing game with no bonuses to help out with it since she can't break pallets / vault in phasing...This sounds like a familiar situation

With 174% movement speed while phasing, she can cover 21.12 meters in 3 seconds. Keep in mind survivors don't see where you are precisely because scratch marks are delayed, so they have to act quickly. 🤗

  • @[Deleted User] said:

honestly I am happy for the Michael nerf all stealth killers are not immune to spine chill except Michael why does he get a special treatment?

EW1 Myers isn't supposed to chase survivors because he doesn't have the movement speed nor the lunge to do so.

Ghostface and Pig has both the movement speed and lunge to fall back on while EW1 Myers don't — he has to waste time stalking.

  • Here's what I'd do 🤗😁

    1. Switch the rarity of Mother-daughter Ring and Prayer Beads.
    2. Make Spirit leave Blue Scratch Marks behind her while she is Phasing.
    3. Decrease her Phase cool-down to 10 seconds (currently it's 15 seconds).

Great that you compare this to working, because this is exactly my point: DbD is a game we are playing for fun. It's supposed to be the opposite from work.

I get that, but your not seeing my points. You cannot expect to get everything when you aren't willing to play the other half of the game. You have to put in 100% if you want 100%, but since you're putting in 50%, you're going to get 50%.

Just because Dead by Daylight is supposed to be "fun", that doesn't always mean it will play into your hands.

Also, I don't mean this to sound harsh, but it's the truth, this applies to everything — you get what you put in.

    Spoiler Spoiler Warning ▲▼

To clarify, I wanna say thank you for discussing this with me even through we have different view points. It's hard to find people who can disagree with me in a civilized manner! 🤗❤

  • @NoShinyPony said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/805370#Comment_805370

Encouraging somebody to play only 50% of the game is not the same as not requiring somebody to play 100% of the game.

Also if everybody would play both roles equally, this game would be dead due to super long queue times. The survivor:killer ratio needs people to play one role more often than the other one.

You're not required to play 100% of the game at all, but if you want the most from Dead by Daylight, it's a requirement. It's like working, you can't expect to get full pay when you only did half your hours. 🤷‍♂️

Also, the game wouldn't be dead because if both sides play both roles, they can always switch to the side that has the best queue times. That's why you don't want to encourage players to play only one role because they won't be flexible when they need to be (if they want a great experience). 🤗

  • @NoShinyPony said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/805289#Comment_805289

This is a game and not school or work. People are playing the game in their free time to have fun. I don't see the sense in why they would have to get "out of their comfort zone" here.

This game isn't just a survivor or killer only game, so you can't expect everything in the game to revolve around what you want because there are also players who like the other role as well.

Besides, playing one side is highly discouraged by the community. Why would you want players (or the developers to encourage other players) to play only 50% of the game they bought? You can't expect to get everything if you only play 50% of the game. 🤷‍♂️

At most, I can agree with a re-roll for specific archive challenges, that's it.

  • @Mandy said:

It has already been stated that some of these challenges are just placeholders for the time being and that we're keeping an eye on the feedback about them, which is why some of them seem extreme.

    This here:

The game is always changing and evolving.

OP, if you want to help point the developers in a good direction, in your opinion, what are some fair level 4 challenges? 😁

  • @madds said:

I can't be alone on this, right? A while ago when they added 4% on each side, all it did was make Ghostface more of an inconsistent killer, not a more balanced one. He's still obnoxious to reveal in chase, and he's way too easy to reveal from far away. I know it was more of an issue for console users, but there's gotta be something else that could be done to help in that regard..?

It's just super disappointing to try and play him at higher ranks without slowdown perks and basically end up being more of an M1 killer than Trapper against an even semi-competent squad. I can play pretty okay at Red Ranks without slowdown using Pig, Demogorgon and Legion, but I just can't with Ghostface. His power just feels so lackluster when early on in release it actually felt pretty strong.

There's only one change that I will make for consistency:

If he's stalking you, the survivor who's being stalked should always be able to start reveal him regardless of what the background rules say.

Even if he's stalking you through a wall, you are able to reveal him for consistency.

    Concerns:

"Would this punish smart use of his power?"

    The answer is both.

If he stealth his way to a smart stalking position, survivors won't know where to look in order to reveal you.

On the other hand, if the survivors see you go to your cleaver hiding position and you begin to stalk them behind a crack within a wall. You're technically "seen" and you should be punished for not being stealthy with your power.

Of course we can tweak other things to make sure survivors can't just look at a wall to prevent you from stalking there. 😁

So I'm a killer main. I hate playing survivor since it's not enjoyable at all to me. I actively avoid it.

Now that the Archives are out I'm forced to play the role I hate.

Ok fine, I can do some challenges even if they'll be exceedingly difficult for me with 0 skill in survivor.

I find myself at the challenge Plunder King which requires that I search 3 chest while using Plunderer's Instinct.

Plunderer's Instinct is a general perk that isn't base on any of the characters. The only way to get it is to pour bloodpoints into survivor until I get it. There is no guarantee as to when I'll get the perk and I'd much rather put the points into characters I will actually enjoy using.

Why are players like myself forced to play a role they don't enjoy in order to make efficient progress through the archives?

Why can't the same amount of progress be made through the Archives by both roles?

Is it something that will be changed in the future? Because I'm not confident I'll be able to complete the Archives and gain enough Rift Fragments to unlock the rewards I'm after.

And if people like myself can't complete the Archives and don't have the time to grind out the extra 86 matches to make up for the missed Archive challenges why should we be excited about purchasing the battlepass?

It actively discourages people like myself from purchasing the battlepass.

Will something be done about that or is this how the Archives will be in the future?

I probably won't be able to purchase the battlepass if I don't make reasonable progress on it... it'd be a waste of money.

Personally, I would rather the game get you out of your comfort zone and try something else for once.

Only playing 50% of the game is not healthy because you only see things through that scope. Sure, you might have to spend some BP, but really, they can be earned back through play time. It's not like BP are a one and done type of currency. 😁

I actually think its too good. A 6 second heal is a little ridiculous, and its a 6 second heal you can do multiple times. I can heal while being chased now, its silly.

If I remember correctly ScottJund, it increases the speed self healing actions by 50%.

Therefore, your charges per second is increased to 1.5c/s — that's a 10.7 second heal. With Botany Knowledge, your charges per second is increased to 1.83c/s — that's an 8.7 second heal.

You will have to use some add-ons to get around a 6 second heal, but by itself, it's not bad. Even if they can do a 6 second heal, that comes with the price of low charges on the Emergency Medical Kit. 😁

I wouldnt go as far as banning people for 5 dcs, consider how amazing this game is you cant blame people for leaving too much

    Keep in mind:

    • All players get a free DC for emergencies or accidents
    • They been warned many times
    • Received different types of punishments for behavioral correction

I know this sounds harsh, but this is foundation of what needs to happen to prevent players from ruining the game for other players. 🤗

  • @redleif said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/788103#Comment_788103

Its clearly not enough as it stands currently, because the problem is only growing.

The problem is based on the X% of all games you played.

For example, if I played 1,000 games, a threshold something as little as 10% will allow me to DC 99 times without penalty regardless if it's in a row or spread across the board.

Even if you surpass the threshold, the developers have to manually ban the offenders instead of having the system automatic. Therefore, players can keep DCing pass that threshold until they decide to start the "Ban Wave".

The new system would need to be based on a tighter time period so players are getting checked way more frequently. This has the added benefit of banning DC'er faster, and preventing players from depipping within a short amount of time.

    The New Punishment System

    First DC:

    • Queue Punishment Warning

    Second DC:

    • 5 Minute Queue Penalty
    • XP & BP Punishment Warning

    Third DC:

    • 15 Minute Queue Penalty
    • 60 Minute -25% XP Penalty
    • 60 Minute -25% BP Penalty

    Fourth DC:

    • 30 Minute Queue Penalty
    • 120 Minute -50% XP Penalty
    • 120 Minute -50% BP Penalty
    • Ban Warning

    Fifth DC:

    • Banned
    • Ban Follows Current Ban Escalation System

DC punishments resets every 24 hours, and penalties do stack.

I like it, but I also like what others or I think it was BHVR themselves suggested for a new system. (I think, I don't remember if they suggested it.)

That suggestion was having for example... a Trapper main being ranked with other Trappers that're the same skill set... And if your skill set is top tier, than you'll be paired with Survivors that're of that same skill set.

    @twistedmonkey said:

I like this idea a lot. I think it would need expanded though as right now it kinda promotes tunnelling which is something they actively want to try and reduce.

So say you get 2.5 points for a hook that could be doubled by hooking a different survivor.

Sacrifice points could also be increased depending on how many hooks so camping isn't rewarded as much. 25 for a sacrifice and 5 points less each hook on the unhooked survivor within a set time frame or condition as to not punish the killer for finding them by pure luck.

If the survivor dc's or kills themselves on the hook they get the full 25 so it does not punish the killer for the survivors act and gives survivor more of an incentive to stay on the hook longer to not reward it.

I also think a similar system to reward survivors with points would work. For one example if a killer is camping and no one is around then a person doing gens gets rewarded with the altruism/benevolent points of a save/heal as you are helping the others get out. If the killer leaves the area or is in a chase with another survivor those points stop being rewarded for 15s even after the chase ends.

Over all it could work out very well with some tweaks and could make the game much better for skill based and fair play on both sides.

@twistedmonkey, I updated the thread to reflect your suggestions — please take a look if you don't mind! 🤗

Also, I don't think a system like this would be necessary for survivors because unlike the killer role, basing player skill on their primary goal doesn't exactly represent how well you do in a Trial.

For example: A sacrificed survivor could've did a lot more than a survivor who escaped.

A depip would be unfortunate, but would likely be more indicative of an oversight in the emblem system (things like one shot downs only counting for chaser once). A safety pip would be expected, though. You did draw, after all. You didn't win or lose, so you probably shouldn't be pipping from that. You'd need to perform better than expected to pip.

Peanits, I have to be very honest with you, the Emblem system only works for the survivor role — not the killer role. 😕

If you, the developers say 50% killrate is balanced, then you should have a ranking system that reflects your word. Currently, killers can get 3Ks and rarely 4Ks and still safety pip when you obviously outplayed the survivors. Your ranking system demands killers to go way beyond what y'all want for balance in order to pip — this shouldn't be the case.

In simple terms: Make the killer's ranking system based off sacrifices and kills. 🙃

I disagree, it takes a few games, but she really isn't as hard as people make her out too be. Learning how too use every single addon is a different story, but if you go in base only, then you'll be able too do great with her very fast.

If you're playing against rank 20s, in their eyes — you already mastered Nurse because they don't know what to do at all.

If you're playing against rank 1s, I highly doubt you will 4K on your first Nurse game — it's going to take a few hours to master her at rank 1.

It's not fair to say Nurse (or in fact, any killer) is easy because you won against survivors who are way below your skill level.

I can say M1 Nurse is OP because I 4K'd all rank 20s, and that she is so easy to use that I don't even have to use my blinks.

However, if you are a fast learner, I do agree that it is easy to pick her up, but it's not as exaggerated people say it is either. 😁

Well obviously, it was my first killer game, so I was at Rank 20 fighting similar rank survivors. Took 2 out early and finished the last two with a 3-gen strategy. And it's not Nurse being easy. It's Nurse being strong. Which she is.

It's also important to note that while I was a newb killer, I wasn't exactly a newb player because I had been playing Survivor for a few weeks by then, so I knew some survivor tricks. I am no master at Nurse, I'm not even a good killer. But Nurse is strong, and its honestly hilarious there are people now toeing the line trying to downplay Nurse and say she isn't strong.

I mean, what the heck people?

I know Nurse is strong and she deserves her change, but keep in mind, you can prove anything with low ranked survivors. That's all I was trying to say! 🤗

    "Nurse isn't even that strong"

Oh wow, really, wow. How can anyone be playing this game and think this? On my very first match as killer I played Nurse and got an easy 4K. No perks and no add-ons. That was about a year ago and survivors were a lot stronger back then.

And how are you playing basekit nurse when you are using up all her stuff? If you are using up all your add-ons surely you aren't playing basekit nurse.

First nurse game with a 4K? I doubt it was her being easy and more of the survivors you was facing are just inexperienced.

It takes at least a few dozen of hours to master her, and less time with old addons. :)

I got reported because a HillBilly kept missing me with his chainsaw, he didn't think anyone could dodge a saw and as I kept dodging it - he reported me for cheating, thought I had "god mode on". 😏

They forgot to nerf Pig again this patch. They actually buffed her this time. Massive oversight on their part.

Since I'm a trusted member, BHVR let me in on their update for Amanda, but you got to hurry up and read it because this is top secret stuff! 😱

    BHVR PATCH NOTES: 3.4.0

Ambush is now on a 60 second cool-down after a successful or failed use

Reverse Bear Traps' timers are increased to 5 minutes

Amanda Young must walk up and get survivor permission from all survivors in order for her to start placing RBT on survivors

Instead of RBT not activating after the last generator, which renders her end-game useless, RBT don't activate at all (I know, what's the point of the 5 minute timer? Wait a second, the best part is yet to come!)

Rules Set NO.2 causes RBT to activate after a generator is completed, and the old version is not added to Amanda's base

I'm so excited for these changes, she's definitely S+ tier now :D

    Spoiler Spoiler Warning ▲▼

But then anyone who's not using BBQ or Deerstalker has no way to tell where you are unless they comb every single inch of the map looking for the pickup prompt. You can't expect everyone to run a perk for that just in case. I would say that in this instance, you'd be better off running Unbreakable to let you get back up.

To be the Devil's Advocate, isn't that the potential consequence of slugging survivors (I.E. Losing your slug)?

Also, you don't exactly need BBQ and Deer Stalker to find survivors — just memorize their location and search that area when your done slugging (this doesn't work when you slug for extreme durations).

Such a happy memory for David Tapp, I'm sure he misses these simpler times...

Sorry, I think the Huntress would get jealous of my new pet @Masantonio!
