The first thing I would say is do not worry about getting to rank 1. Not everyone's supposed to be rank 1, and you shouldn't feel bad because you're not. It's a number that's used for matchmaking and there's no reward for getting there. If you're struggling now, pushing to get your rank even higher is only going to make your matches even harder and less enjoyable.
Play for fun, do what you enjoy. You'll get better as you play, and some day it'll happen without you even trying.
If the end game chat is bothering you, you can completely hide it by clicking the >> button next to in. It'll stay off until you press the button again to turn it back on.
As far as stress goes, that one I don't really have a great answer to. I just go into it knowing full well that I'm playing make belief freeze tag with Michael Myers and Freddy, and then it just feels silly to get upset. It's a video game at the end of the day. I'm playing it for fun, nothing changes if I lose, so there's no point in stressing over it.
Yeah, I usually DO get to rank 1 every time, it's just I feel obligated to do it, so I have to play killers that can rank up easily like legion and ghostface, who I don't enjoy playing. Whenever I 4K with Oni I will always get brutal killer, so it's pretty frustrating.
-
It doesn't matter, you will still be matched up against small brained megs since the matchmaking is broken.
-
Bond can help you win chases in solo queue. Killer chasing you? Run to another survivor and make the killer chase them instead. Kidding, don't do that, but it is amazing. Tenacity and vigil are also very handy for swf and solo queue. For killer it's surveillance, since it can give you more information than any other killer perk, and lets you secure 3 generators.

I've never heard a killer main say they "hate looping" before and actually meant it, and I'm interested to know why. It's essential to the core gameplay to understand looping and running tiles as both survivor and killer and it's where the fun is. Suppose if you only want to play PH, Deathslinger or spirit it makes sense why you'd hate loops, because these killers don't care about them at all
I should have been more specific. I hate the BROKEN loops. The uninteractive loops that the survivor can see over, where there is no mindgame potential. I love running certain loops, like jungle gyms, long walls and the shack, but I hate the loops on blood lodge. Or loops that are connected so much like Ormond.

Hmm... This may not be a solution but why not playing funny builds? I know everyone takes their games depending on their mood but hey, look at this vids, maybe this can give you an idea!

All credits goes to the original author of the videos, called DBD Things, a nice channel with not much videos but very well worked on to be honest.
Thanks! I just watched the slinger one, and it looks like a lot of fun! I laughed out loud on that one.

Same here! It stresses me out too. I played the game for 257 hours and feel bad that I never got to Rank 1. But I realized that the ranking system itself is just completely broken. And if someone is unfriendly in the endgame chat just laugh at it! They are just complaining because you were better than them. That's entitled survivor mains for ya! And pls take a break from the game if it affects your mental health. It can be only for a day or so but pls stay safe :) Have a nice day!
Good to know that other people are experiencing what I am, thanks so much mate :)

Step 1: Ignore your rank. The ranking system is broken you know so being rank 1 doesn't mean someone is good or bad just that they play enough to get there and are somewhat decent to stay in red ranks. The basic gameplay is the same if your rank 20 or rank 1, remember that.
Step 2: If after game chat bothers you that much just close it so you don't see possible toxic messages. If they send you stupid things on steam just set your profile on private to stop it.
Step 3: Play a killer you really like and set alternate goals that feel like a win for you. Could be collect 4 BBQ stacks, or get 1 kill, or get progress on a tome challenge, or make a fun perk build and try to pull something of like making dark devotion work or something. I switch up my build or else I get bored.
And one last tip if t-bagging annoys you; I play ghostface to return the favour and get a laugh out of it. Nothing more fun then t-bagging back at the exit gate or when you finally down that really cheeky survivor with the flashlight clicks.
These tips actually helped a lot! Thanks for your advice on ranking, that stresses me out the most.

Run a meme build. I personally had fun running just Lightborn on Legion and I put it in the 3rd slot so it looked weird.
Other ideas include running Monstrous Shrine, Distressing, Territorial Imperative and Mind Breaker on Clown. The idea is to run the worst perks on the worst killer. Could also use Zenshi Tactics or Third Seal.
4.6m/s add-on Nurse with perks like Spirit Fury, Enduring, Haunted Grounds and BBQ.
I've thought of running certain meme builds like basement hag, that actually sounds like a lot of fun. I will try out some of your combos.

Forcing a killer to slug still adds momentum.
A downed/slugged survivor is still as useless as one on the hook. Boohoo you couldn't go for the unhooker instead.
Anyone and everyone who complains about DS users....WHY are you going for the unhooked survivor instead of being anywhere else?
Why aren't you patrolling gens? Or initiating your second chase? Stop pretending you're a victim when you know damn well you were proxy camping the hook waiting for the hooked survivor to get unhooked to proceed your tunneling.
Because slugging doesn't exist when unbreakable exists. Also, most DS users can't be slugged when they jump into a locker. Most of the time I get d-striked is when I don't even tunnel, I hook the guy who was unhooking and I catch the unhooked guy healing somewhere else and down them. I pick them up and I get d-striked when I didn't tunnel.

And your opinions are idiotic. You are either a kid or you are intentionally trolling. No sane person thinks 'they should make an infamous villain a survivor' Then there's the perks. Survivors should have invisible items, Not be heard and no scratch marks. Your perk isn't comparable to Distortion btw, you are asking to straight up disappear after being hit with 50% less marks.
Man, opinions are opinions and if you think he is idiotic for wanting a joker as survivor, then you should be taught a lesson about a thing called manners.

Honestly, I do not want to see clown mechanics changed like we have seen with Freddy, soon to be Bubba/Billy and others,....
Change his numbers around etc like the recent bottle toss with no slowdown, great, but do not just go and change him and change his power, and give him dream snares or something none of us want.
YUou could simply change his reload time and make him way more deadly, there is no need to change a killer entirely like they did with Freddy.
I never want that to happen to another killer again.
Hands off CLown, I started playing him because tyhey changed Freddy and dont want to see him given the same treatment.
Yeah, I just want some number tweaks.

The suggestion i'm purposing is as it sounds in the title. What if when a killer lingers near a hooked survivor, that hook will teleport to a random spot on the map.
Some minor changes need to be made though. If the killer is in a chase while near the hook then it won't teleport(As to stop over altruistic plays) but other then that it should relatively stay the same as PH's cages.
What does the community think about this idea?
I would be fine with it, as long as if someone is within 20 meters of the hook, it won't teleport.

@Todgeweiht said:
Survivors have to learn how to properly loop around tiles, resource management (when to use pallets), when is a proper time to rescue teammates, when should they stick to gens or do others tasks, and other things depending on which killer they face.
Saying survivor requires no skill is disingenuous to say the least, obviously it's not going to be as hard as learning how to properly play nurse or trapper, but it has its skill gap.
Basically sounds like running around in circles. The thinking process and decision making behind survivors isn't that difficult. And I'm a survivor main now. It isn't hard at all in my opinion.

@LordRegal said:
So I have, currently, three and two half killers I consider myself "actually belonging in red ranks" with. I would love to add another few killers to that arsenal, but because of how soft rank reset is now, it is no longer possible to do the old "wait for reset and then learn the new killer"...even if matchmaking was functioning properly, rank 5 doesn't give me anything whatsoever in regards to easier games while I pick up new killers. As much as I love my Wraith, Legion, Hag, fledgling PHead (who I learned when no one knew how to play against him so he's exempt,) and retired Nurse, I would enjoy being competent with some other killers.
Since reset I've not touched any of the ones I'm comfortable with, opting instead to try Pig, Demo, Deathslinger, and Oni. And it's been consistent "Brutal Killers" earned through fundamentals than having any real chance to actually learn their power. I'm a decent killer when it comes to fundamentals, I have to be to be good with Wraith. So I make up for my lack of understanding the other killers' powers by knowing how to run tiles, how to mindgame, etc. But forget using their powers with a shred (sometimes literally) of effectiveness. I'm stuck at rank 5 because I'm doing well enough through general killer knowledge to scrape that. But it's extremely frustrating trying to learn where the shot goes for slinger, how to aim Demo's shred without whiffing like a moron, how to do the extra Pig mindgames, and how the hell to turn like a half decent Oni when you get nothing but survivors who know what they're doing against those killers. My best Oni game was a 4 stack full blendette (changed at the last second) squad that was just absolutely painful with a 2/9 count on good power usages because I straight up am not gud with his power yet.
I don't really know what the solution is except to make the rank reset harsher again, but I know they won't do that. I guess this is a cry to the devs to please do what it's rumored you're doing with MMR making it killer specific (thus why the PTB wouldn't let you swap killers once you started queuing up)...because a single pool for the entire roster just absolutely is discouraging me at least from actually taking the time to learn killers outside the ones I already know how to play.
Edit: for clarity, I do have all of the adept killers, but on a lot of the ones I'm not good with it was pretending they don't have a power. Oni's game that I got the adept I used his power once and it was to guard the exit gates against the last person. I know how to play powerless killers well. But using them effectively while not boring myself to tears is another thing entirely.
It might be a bit sad, but it is extremely difficult to not get brutal killer as Oni, even if you destroy the team. You basically have to use your basic attack and blood fury equally to get ruthless killer which is no fun. Most games, you will slug as well, so that makes it even more difficult to pip.
-
I have watched 5 episodes so far, and it's pretty boring. I really hope it gets better.

So if I’m better than them...someone out there is better than me...why we adding these streamers with lesser skill?
They don't have to be popular streamers and it's just my opinion. 2 of these are very obscure players, and the point I am making with this post is to try and find amazing players at each killer. YOU can qualify for this list as well.

these might be the best players we have seen yet, but there are a lot of really good players (including me) who dont stream or share their games a whole lot, therefore its entirely possible that there are some better players than the ones listed here, its just that we dont know about them yet.
doesnt mean that the list has to be wrong at all, its just that there is no guarantee that any of the listed players are actually the best ones - we'd need official, killer specific stats from the devs for that one to be actually sure about it.
no doubt though, most of the listed players are some that i believe to be exceptionally good at the game.
Yeah, I just want to find people who think they can qualify for this list as well. I think there are better killers than streamers out there.

Still though, tysm man <3 It means a lot you'd even consider me for the position.
Nah, from watching your streams, I find you to be the best pyramid head I've seen so far. You know how to utilise every perk to end chases quickly and your stats show that you're one of the best, if not the best at him. Also, you know how to snowball very well with him, which I haven't seen any PH players do so far, meaning you are ahead of most Ph players.

There's no such thing as one single best player for a killer. While I am able to use 100% of Bubba's potential so are many other people. I've seen Otz using exactly the same pallet chainsaw baits as me every now and then resulting in quick and unexpected downs. Now that's already two people doing the exact same thing in the same situation. Now you tell me who's the better Bubba when two people with thousands of hours in the game do the same exact thing? 🤔 That's just one example. I'm sure @GrootDude , @LordGlint etc etc. are all using 100% of Bubba's potential as well.
You get the point. There's many phenomenal players out there some of which don't even post content.

True, killers should only slug when it is optimal, downing the first person with nobody around and slugging is pretty boring.

The last few matches I've played, different killers would down someone and leave them. Every time, killer lost the match, but made the match last for ages. One match made a new level 20 with one perk DC. I hope this didn't scare that person away. One of those matches, Huntress tried to troll me at the end by carrying me around at end game tick and I broke free and escaped. This has been happening since rank reset. Why are people doing this ?
It's slugging. Slugging is a tactic that saves you a lot of time and gives you good map pressure. People do it when they down someone close to a hooked survivor and leave them. Killers like nurse, Oni and Myers rely heavily on slugging. It can be boring, but gens go too fast.

Yeah, once you get good at him, the only weakness he has is unbreakable, and bad maps like hawkins, blood lodge, ormond and lérys. If you lose on those map or are against a 4 man swf with unbreakable, don't beat yourself up. Another thing about Oni is, don't beat yourself up if gens get done. All you need is that one hit and the game goes up for you. Even if 3 gens get done before you get your power, you can still snowball into a 4k with infectious and monitor. Enjoy Oni, I love playing him so much and you're welcome :D

Yhyh I've just watched someone play the Oni, but his ability seems abit unfair. He can basically turn normally and run at like double the speed.
There's no way to get away because he can go around corners, and isn't the only way his dash stops is when he misses a hit. Even if you pallet him, he can just activate it again as it dosnt have a cooldown? So you're baso going to get downed unless ur incredibly lucky
He is far from OP. I am an Oni main, and he definitely has some counterplay. First of all, he starts the game EXTREMELY weak. He is a man with katana at the start of the game and he will suffer. However, once he gets that first hit, the game can start snowballing for him as he can get his blood fury from survivors. In order to counter him, you have to drop pallets very (emphasis on very) safely. The longer you deny him that first hit, the worse it is for Oni. His power is the strongest in the game. Stronger than any other killer, but it can be prevented so easily and he has a time limiter on it. When he is in blood fury, you can do some things to help yourself. 1: Don't loop him at most loops. Looping is futile against a blood fury oni since he can prevent it so easily and just demon dash and demon strike you. There are some loops that he can't do anything at, such as L-T walls, long walls and god loops. 2: God windows. On maps like disturbed ward and suffocation pit with god-like windows, he can't do anything to you. He is one of the strongest killers in the game, but far from OP. He has counterplay.
