Is David really the type of basic white guy that gays thirst over. I would have said Jake over David.

Greetings... I wanted to send this to bhvr itself but it apparently lacks a viable 'contact us' portion.

So! here's a big issue... your game is CLEARLY dying. A large majority of it being revolved around tunneling and your extremely killer sided MMR (yes it is quite killer sided and it has to do with the end game balancing.... It's quite obvious... but weird that you would think people who play both can't notice patterns?) for example: I love how when I get wrecked as a killer... my very next games survivors are incompetent enough to barely get 2 gens done by the time they all go up. Yet when I play survivor... it's trash tunneler after trash tunneler after trash tunneler with a camper thrown in the mix and then an afker where due to all 4 escaping, we're thrown back against the try hard tunnelers yet again.

A group of friends and I have deliberated on things that would fix the tunneling issue... the most common idea being that Borrowed Time and Decisive become basic perks everyone has ontop of the 4 you get to choose from... to the far extreme of penalty for the killer. (Let's be honest here... -9pts a second isn't enough to deter a brain dead moron from camping the hook when they end up with 26k doing exactly that. Like seriously add a 0 to it already...) Honestly if matches were as moderated as the discord server... this game would actually be amazing again.

Said circle of friends, actually enjoyed the game on the 2nd day of MMR testing. It was a healthy balance of getting wrecked, all 4 escaping... and some escaping. We played from 4pm until 3am. When we got wrecked it wasn't even a horrible getting wrecked style. It was legit fun. But since it was survivor sided MMR, it didn't take long to throw it back to killer sided MMR where the game became much less fun, much quicker in an almost predictable manner. Killer style has become so predictable that as a survivor you can actually manipulate the MMR to your advantage which is sad that you even have to. If you DC on the load screen, you don't receive a penalty. If someone brings streamers, event cake, or a mori... you just DC on load to by pass it and wait for the one that doesn't play some juiced offering, and the odds of having a better game are significantly improved... Why? because people who bring those are 99% guaranteed and predictable to camp or tunnel. (Nothing screams stupidity like bringing a mori and camping the hook to try and use it. Literally absolutely nothing speaks as much volumes to level of stupidity as that and what's worse is it's actually predictable enough that your best choice is to DC before the match starts to avoid the DC penalty as odds of them being a farmer for the bp's are actually quite slim when they shouldn't be tbh. If all 4 survivors bring streamers... that shouldn't queue the killer to play greasy but to actually be grateful and maybe ya know... farm so everyone gets some good bp's from it?! Cause let's be real... this game is predominantly about blood point gains... and as a killer you can have all 4 escape and still get more points than if survivors play perfectly and have no heals/hooks to get. (Yes, I can have all 4 escape and get 28k points as a killer, yet on survivor maybe get 17k with no hooks or heals to do... like where's the not been caught bonus?!?!?!? oh!!! that's right... it's killer sided how in the world could I forget?)

The sadness for this game is, to ensure the most fun you can have you literally have to play customs and police the killer out of camping/tunneling. Where even though no one is getting blood points... pretty much everyone is having the same level of fun. This is the level of fun one should expect in public matches... and the sad part is, literally everyone does which is a problem. I've watched many streamers playing this game cause ya know what's more idiotic than camping to mori? playing like an utter douche, and promoting your twitch with your username... Anyway, due to this I have watched several killers who predominantly tunnel, and they actually find the game boring when they can't find people... This is why killer should require more skill than just controlling what happens in the match via going back to the hook. It's hilarious watching a tunneler go back to the hook and lose everybody then spend 2 gens trying to find someone, and it's clear as day. They tunnel because they can't actually hunt which is completely obvious.

I mean I get why the game switched to killer sided... it's meant to balance the end gamer survivors, which at the same time, makes earlier gamers... much much worse. It's essentially a predicament of either a) become a god looper, or b) uninstall and move on. Which it honestly shouldn't be. The killers should be more skilled to get better to combat the end game survivors. Everything meant to make surviving harder for a god looper, is what veers people away from the game that aren't there yet. To this day, I have yet to go up against a pig that didn't tunnel the trap... Like honey, why bring make your choice to legit just use on the last hook? That's not a smart strategy... at all. So to try and bring balance, you release killers and perks that make survivor just that much harder. IE: Pinhead with his automatic gen pressure, where you pretty much need communication as a survivor to not be wasting time. Either no one goes for the box, or everyone does as there's no way to commune to people who you aren't partied with if you are going for the box or not. Which is automatic gen pressure meant to make end game survivor more difficult, but utterly trashes newer players. Pinhead is the exact time my friends list began dropping the game and finding others. Which I wish I did join them. I didn't uninstall until Dec and then recently picked it back up last month cause I couldn't find another game to spend a good 12 hours in daily... But I definitely want to uninstall cause this game has died out on my friends list. Where it used to be a good 10/20 people in dbd at any time, it's now maybe... 1/30. Which speaks volumes to your oversight in development. You've made survivor difficult enough that not many people want to play for more than 1 or 2 games a day. Said people prefer survivor because they find killer vastly easier.

This brings us to the famed argument. "It's a 4v1 bruh!" Why yes, captain obvious, it most certainly is. But there's 1 large difference. 1/4 of those people can turn the tide of the match entirely. Thus killer is much easier. You don't have to rely on 3 others doing their part to succeed as a killer. You just have to hope that 1 of the 4 is bad enough to turn the tide in your favour and make it an obvious hatch match. Which will happen more times than not with random teammates (as previously noted because the game is dying you can't keep friends in the match so have to rely on complete strangers you can't communicate with and HOPE above all else that they aren't trying to throw you to the wolves, do dumb things... actually get on a gen... don't hook farm... the list goes on... really... some you get are just complete trolls to troll. This turns most matches into hatch games where your only goal is to remain stealthy enough to avoid the killer who's literally tunneling and camping baddies... so that you can hope for a hatch escape, or that the gates are far enough apart that you can get a gate open after you prestart it and watch the killer patrol back and forth between the switches looking at the lights... or worse... that the killer doesn't just slug you and go searchin' for the hatch - which you can't dc away from cause of penalty, and you can't ######### cause... I unno why actually... so your best bet is literally just to sit there and wait 4 minutes... because what... oh right... yeah this game is sooooo survivor sided right? I'm fairly certain killer mains say that because MMR actually works for them... They get a 4k they go up against a competant team, maybe get 1...

Unfortunately this game is now at a point where it needs a large enough overhaul to bring back the players it's lost/to compete with the other formats of this game style that actually do it better and make both sides funner/less toxic. It used to be a great game that I loved. I mean I bought an xbox just to play this game back in july and have wracked up 100 days play time. So it definitely used to be a great favoured game... but sadly I'm on the fence and about ready to find a better game if the above issues do not get resolved in the near future. That's not a threat, or an ultimatum... Personally for me, the survivor balance deadline is hogwarts legacy. It's gonna be hard to care about this speck of dust when I become a full time wizard.

But anyway... please wake up bhvr. Fix your broken game or lose more people :/

PS: I know the killer mains are gonna whine about survivor sided and junk like that... (but I know that since MMR is in your favour you have a healthy balance of winning and losing vs. always losing due to incompetence and skewed design in killer favour but keep tellin' yourself that bae. If it wasn't true dbd wouldn't be dying)

Annnnnyway, I challenge you to sing that song after you lay down your killer ways and play survivor for a month. Let's see how long it takes before your song changes to the truth ;).

Edited to add: I can't believe I forgot to put in other aspects.

I honestly get why survivor is harder... because surviving isn't easy. But at the same time... when you synergize and run every perk in order to attain something but can't - it speaks literal volumes to the balancing of the game. Even after boil overs buff, it is still next to impossible to wiggle free without agitation and iron grasp interference due to the over abundance of hooks. (Enough so that if you bring flip flop, boil over, 4 oaks to spread hooks apart more, you STILL can't wiggle free starting with 45% wiggle progress. The fact that you would need someone to run break out following the killer to wiggle out is pure insanity. Not to mention the high risk of saboing a hook to try and save a person from being hooked is EASILY countered by the killer just dropping the person and waiting for the hook to come back. It's a high risk for a VERY minuscule reward that actually flips the ideology to being pointless. I have been confused for quite some time as to why on earth wiggling is even an option when more times than not it does nothing to help. This contributes to the game being killer sided.I can't tell you how many times I have had my wiggle hit 100% and been hooked anyway. It should literally force a drop if you're that close to a hook and that close to wiggling off to combat the hit validation that killers seem to get with their texas sized lunges.

1st off, the game isn't dying. Since you are crying wolf right at the beginning of your post, the rest of your post is too long and not worth reading because I just can't trust it being accurate.

So let's say there's a generator in the single pallet jungle gym as well. And the two survivors will immediately hop on it if you leave.

My suggestion is to play survivor with a friend and both of you take flashlights and use that technique since Killers are completely helpless against it.

  • @AntiJelly said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2917362#Comment_2917362

Tell me, what do you do when two survivors, both with 22 charge flashlights and built to last, go into the double lockers at a single pallet jungle gym? Elaborate to me what the counter to that is?

Well first off, you don't have to sit in front of a locker where 2 survivors are obviously doing that. You do realize that you can ignore survivors that aren't doing gens. It's not like they're doing anything useful, in fact, what they are doing is letting you win the game. Of all the things to complain about, you're complaining about survivors actively losing the game for themselves.

  • And I did say, that BHVR hasn't released any stats recently, which would be the preferred stats to use. But if the aggregate site is any indication (it processed about a few thousand games a month, so it's has a gigantic sample size), the Nurse has jumped up in kills and usage. The developer stats have probably seen the same thing.

Either way, if that is the case, then the Nurse and probably Blight are going to get the big ole nerf bat soon.

  • @Tsulan said:

How can you call her OP, when she has the lowest kill rate?

Have you ever considered that disconnecting is the core issue here?

We haven't heard anything about the Nurse, from BHVR, for a long while. But if you check out the aggregate stat sites, her kill rate has actually begun to skyrocket. She's the second most used killer, under huntress and she has the 2nd highest kill rate, below Blight.

My guess is that everyone has started switching over to Nurse and Blight because they are the easiest killers to get kills with. And think about it, once you learn Nurse, you never unlearn her. So as more people learn her, they keep playing her. So there's more and more people who know how to play Nurse and less people that don't know how to play her. It's really the people who don't know how to play her and that's what keeping her kill rate so low for so long.

The hard truth is aggressive tunneling is generally super efficient. I personally dont mind that change to ds, but something would have to be done about the game balance so that not tunneling could be more viable to win games.

Tunnel-off-hook-till-dead is way more efficient than the skill required to pull it off. The skill level to tunnel someone out of the game is extremely low, compared to what it gives you. Tunneling a survivor out of game before survivors are at 2 gens, generally means the killer wins.

I personally think there should be a watered down version of BT and DS base kit with the following caveats.

    1. Can't be used during EGC
    2. Only works off the 2nd hook.
    3. Only works if the hook survivor has not done anything besides partially heal and a BT body-block, between the 1st and 2nd hook. (A fully healed survivor would not get it but a partially healed survivor would)

That allows for BT and DS to still be viable perks but gives survivors some type of defense against Tunneling-off-hook-till-dead and Face-Camping, both of which needs built in counters.

using Otz videos as evidence that killer is easy.

    cringe

Not a single one of those videos was an Otz video, lol. I deliberately didn't add Otz's video because I knew people would say this.

It was random streamers just doing Otz's challenge. People are saying that killer is unplayable at high MMR, yet here are high MMR killers getting over a 50% 4ks and 3ks while not using perks, addons and giving survivors a 30 second head start. And I haven't even posted the tip of the iceberg of random streamers doing this. Go to youtube and you get pages of killer-players doing Otz's challenge.

Tunneling-off-hook-till-dead and Face-Camping needs to be nerfed along with a buff to killers to compensate. It's bad game design. It's not fun for either side.

Its actually not egc where it bothers me the most. Then there is at least a reason, beyond just trolling.

So, it's not because it affects the killer winning or losing the game, it's because it's aggravating. I think we can a tiny bit of aggravation once in a while to get tunneling-off-hook-till-dead and face-camping out of the game.

  • @AsherFrost said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2921662#Comment_2921662

No, it would cause the unhooked to swarm the killer and try to let the unhooker get away, purposefully trying to get hit.

How do I know? It already happens now, just less frequently as BT isn't on every single survivor for free, so they take other perks.

Not with the watered down version of Borrowed Time. It isn't usable during EGC, so there's no more worry about that.

  • @AsherFrost said:

I have yet to see a proposed "fix" for tunneling that doesn't break more than it fixes. The biggest issue is you're trying to impose target control over someone who is a person, not an AI.

So people propose either punishing the killer with a reduction in points, or giving survivors some form of shield to protect them. Unfortunately both lead to the outcome of recently unhooked survivors trying to get hit, blocking the killer when they are trying not to tunnel.

It's the same basic principle behind the hook radius change that was supposed to fix camping, but got abused so badly by survivors it had.tonbe almost immediately reverted.

As long as every player has full agency, tunneling will happen. The best BHVR can do is try to introduce a good enough perk/mechanic/adjustment that makes it feel less necessary to win a match at high levels. That will at least drive down the frequency, though not eliminate tunneling entirely.

The one the developers have been talking about, basekit Borrowed Time, would work. The perk is already in the game and has a proven track record.

I hope they actually make a watered down version of Borrowed Time, base kit.

    1. Doesn't work at EGC
    2. Only works on 2nd hook
    3. On works if that player hasn't done anything, other than healing, between 1st hook and 2nd hook.

That makes Borrowed Time still relevant but also gives survivors some type of tunneling-off-hook-till-dead defense.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. "Let's nerf them first and then we'll compensate them later. "

How about, no? How about survivors are reined in first then you can change the tunnel.

That's how it's going to be because the survivor community and the devs have all but killed the killer community off. Now there is no further major change that is going to occur to killers that is going to accomplish anything other than removing what's left. You'll simply be staring at the searching for game for so long you'll close the game down in frustration.

I literally gave up reaching IRI survivor this month because it takes too long to get a game and after reaching IRI killer last month I don't have the desire nor patience to repeat it instead.

    https://youtu.be/NGMInHRR2Fo

I said lets do both at the same time. Remove or nerf the I-Win button and buff killers to compensate.

You obviously agree with me, that both should happen.

  • @Steel_Eyed said:

Imagine being a dev reading this. Just spent the last month tweaking MMR. Was very open about the process. Formulas. What they did. Even did a massive ban wave of cheating accounts.

    You get this.

    It will never be enough.

The developers will adjust MMR if it turns out to be a disaster, I'm sure. The PTB is ok for testing, but sometimes it gives you horrible information too. PTB is where all the extremely skill players and streamers go, so statistically, it doesn't cover the majority of players because most players are casuals.

Especially with something such as MMR. The developers got a bunch of feedback from streamers which could definitely have skewed MMR to the streamers favor. If one of the MMRs was giving streamers easier games, then I guarantee that all the streamers were coming on the forums telling the developers how awesome MMR was now.

If the developers start getting a flood of negative feedback about MMR, once it's release to the general public, then I'm sure they'll revert the change.

I mained Bubba even before his rework when he was a bit awful to play and I don't understand the neccesity of camping with Bubba. He nows is in a good spot and has great chase potential.

The developers should just revert the Bubba buff, to how he played before. If he has the ability to camp as effectively as he can, there's no reason he should have the current buffs he has.

I'm not advocating camping, but at least you have to hook someone first, and then fend off rescue attempts.

As a surv, you can immerse the whole game, doing absolutely nothing, and still escape. You could rise to the top of MMR simply by riding the coattails teammates and/or being a craven opportunist. No idea why anyone would want to play the game that way (ending up at high MMR with no actual skill progression), but people are funny creatures.

You can't raise your MMR by using the hatch, lol. Hatch doesn't give you MMR points.

To change with all that is wrong with this game...

How much longer are we supposed to wait before you decide to fix the problems with these ad-ons ? You disable the Nurse when the issues impact the killer player, but it doesn't seem to bother you too much when they're causing issues for the surviving players.

It's not just the Nurse's add-ons. It's the Nurse, she is absolutely broken. I guess the developers are keeping her so she can compete against the high level SWFs, maybe... I don't know.

Eventually, the developers will have to nerf Nurse hard, because everyone is switching to Nurse and learning her. When she only showed up in 1 out of every 100 matches, the 1 minute survivor 4k curb-stomping from a broken killer could be ignored because you got normal matches after.

However, now survivors are seeing Nurse much more frequently.

I checked and based on NightLight, Nurse is the second most picked Killer, right behind Huntress, with a 6.83% pick rate. And I bet that pick rate is higher at mid and high levels of play.

I think you should also realize what the challenge show cases:

    https://twitter.com/otzdarvayt/status/1479461876669030400

    The conclusions:

"Most of the time the victory goes to the sweatier side"

"DBD is sided to whatever side decides to be the nastiest (huge flaw in design) and that's why a Killer can get a ~2k average with a huge handicap if they are willing to play as dirty as you can."

Going... well streamers can do it even with a handicap, but they use the tactics that people complain about! Most people will admit that they aren't close to the level of these individual players and so even though people might not give a heads start etc. Their general gameplay will be inferior in comparison.

Getting a 2k average is also lopsided, as it is far easier for a killer that even loses to secure a single kill, as also pointed out by Otz in this experiment. This means that to have a 50% kill rate on average you would have to lose more than 50% significantly and it is also why in the stats by the developers most killers do have a bit above 50%. That is just how statistics work.

Also, which killer you play significantly impacts the ability to how nice you can play. Regardless of that fact, if as a player you want to win in the game you have to play in these fashions for both killer and survivor. Survivors spread out, slam gens, break up 3-gens, try to waste as much time as possible of the killer, go for saves while killers will secure 3-gens, tunnel, camp and slug. Either side holding back is just going to result in them most likely losing, because most people play to win.

As Otz points out there is:

"- No real incentive to play nice or spice things up"

That is not the players fault and whether survivors want to believe it or not... there are many sweaty survivors, which is why people complain about the meta of both sides. Want a change... get BHVR to give people incentives or at the minimum alternatives that are viable and not just for the very few S-Tier killers.

The truth of the matter is, if you want to get kills you either play dirty or you play Nurse/Blight? Nearly everyone else needs to camp/tunnel at some point in the game and even then there are no guarantees, timing and how your opponents respond are just as vital to whether it works or not.

"Most of the time the victory goes to the sweatier side"

    Yes.

"DBD is sided to whatever side decides to be the nastiest (huge flaw in design) and that's why a Killer can get a ~2k average with a huge handicap if they are willing to play as dirty as you can."

    Yes.

"- No real incentive to play nice or spice things up"

    Yes.

All of these are true and I agree with them. Killers have an "I-Win" button and choose not to use it in most matches. If every killer-player decided to use it, kill rates would sky-rocket. Killers-players for the most part, are extremely nice and don't use the "I-Win" button. I know I don't and when I play survivors, there's a lot of killer-players that don't.

That's not the problem. The problem is the "I-Win" button is there and is used. It hurts killers because it raises kill rates for the killers who want to play nasty. And, it hurts survivors because it requires survivors to have DS and a player running BT to make it hurt the killer time-wise in a chase. Even then, a determined killer and dead-zones can make BT and DS useless.

Just because bubba is good at shutting that down doesn't mean his facecamping ability is healthy for the game. If he wants you dead on that hook you will die.

What they need to do is find a way to change it without nerfing his chase power because there's no issue with that.

I think the obvious answer is what everyone is suggestion. Make it so Bubba can't use his power within so much distance of a hooked or recently unhooked person. If it works for the Twins and the Artist, there's absolutely no reason not to do the same thing to Bubba.

  • @Tsulan said:

Fun fact: in the time between the Undying release and its nerf, there were (almost) no camping or tunneling threads. Simply because any killer that wanted to get some juice out of the Undying Ruin combo, simply couldn´t afford to focus on a single survivor. Instead they had to spread damage and constantly switch targets.

Now on top of that, CoH completely killed off hit&run. Which forces killers to secure a down/kill.

Fascinating how that backfired. Isn´t it?

Yeah, because Undying was an easier "I-Win" button compared to "Tunneling-Off-Hook-Till-Dead". They're both "I-Win" buttons.

"How is that not exactly what those videos are showing. These streamers are high MMR players. They are proving over and over again that Killers are fine without using perks, addons and with head-starts."

You are not understanding what the videos showed. What they showed was that you can 3k or 4k with no perks or addons if you hard tunnel.

Able to win consecutively with no addons or perks but tunneling hard = / = you can win against equally good survivors that don't make mistakes at high mmr with an m1 killer using perks and addons without tunneling

That is not what the videos show. That is you making an assumption.

"How in the h*ll does that translate to nerf survivors buff killers?"

It doesn't make sense to you because of the assumption you are making with drawing incorrect conclusions from those videos. Killers are tunneling because against equally skilled survivors at high mmr that don't make tons of mistakes you cannot win on the majority of the killer roster without tunneling. That is just facts. If you give them the ability to win those matches without tunneling, then tunneling will go down tremendously. The killers don't want to tunnel, they feel forced to.

If you played both sides at high mmr you would understand this. This isn't a contested topic, the vast majority of the community with good hours in the game understands this already.

We both want tunnel-off-hook-till-dead out of the game, so why not remove it, then buff killers to compensate. It's not really fair that killers get buffed and still have the I-Win button.

This would be awesome. I'd love a Aquarium map, somewhat similar to Badham pre-school, where you have a main "aquarium building" and a secondary "aquarium building" and maybe even a 3rd.

I don't want it done like RPD, that map sucks. Behavior seems to be hit-or-miss with indoor maps. RPD, Hawkins and the Silent Hill maps all kind of suck. Lery's is fine. The Game use to suck but is better now that there are more pallets, to make up for the complete lack of windows.

I think that SWF is killing the game. I wish there was an option not to play against SWF parties because it puts so much stress on the killer against these tryhards that less and less ppl will play the killer.

I think you should absolutely have an option to not play against SWFs as killer, but you should also have the wait times that accompany that. SWF queue should get priority on solo queue fills also.

"If streamers can do this, then high MMR killers can do the same with perks, addons and without headstarts, without the need to tunnel-off-hook-till-dead."

That is not what those videos illustrated whatsoever. You are making a huge inference here based on nearly nothing. You really should play killer and survivor at high mmr to understand.

"I'd say, take the I-Win button away or Buff survivors to compensate for having an I-Win button."

Everyone wants tunneling taken away, the problem is it is required at high mmr with most the killer roster unless the survivors play really badly. We need to fix maps, nerf some overpowered perks, buff weak killers and then nerf tunneling heavily.

How is that not exactly what those videos are showing. These streamers are high MMR players. They are proving over and over again that Killers are fine without using perks, addons and with head-starts.

How in the h*ll does that translate to nerf survivors buff killers?

"If you looked at the videos, they post the statistics for the challenge. So this argument is moot."

Yeah, of the videos you posted.

"Obviously killers are way overpowered compared to survivors when Tunneling-off-hook-till-dead, since they can use that strategy and get 4ks and 3ks without perks, addons and giving survivors a 30 sec head-start."

You seem to have derailed from the entire point of this page. I never once said you couldn't 3k or 4k just camping and tunneling.

Literally the only thing I said was that tunneling was necessary to win against equally skilled survivors with m1 killers unless they mess up a lot. None of which any of the videos you posted go against that. They literally support my point.

Me: Says you need to tunnel to win

You: Posts a bunch of videos showing tunneling to win

    That's entirely my point.

Actually, they do go against what you are saying. These streams are beating people without perks, addons and with head starts. If streamers can do this, then high MMR killers can do the same with perks, addons and without headstarts, without the need to tunnel-off-hook-till-dead.

Tunnel-off-hook-till-dead is a I-Win button, the killers sometimes decide not to use.

I'd say, take the I-Win button away or Buff survivors to compensate for having an I-Win button.

Shelter Woods is currently an awful map for survivors. Can't use Balanced landing (except on basement stairs), too many dead zones. I agree, it needs to be redesigned, it can't be so empty and killer-sided. Same thing about the maps that are survivor sided, they need changes too.

Shelter Woods and Wrecker's Yard both need reworked. They're both just empty, uninteresting maps, boring maps. Add some main structures to these maps, besides the Killer shack. There should always be a main building on outside maps. I literally play map offerings to avoid these 2 maps because they are so horrible. I don't want to risk getting them.

  • My suggestion is, to remove the "Nurse-Vision-Dimming" completely when switching and when you hit the activate button to switch, instead of a 2 sec delay where you can't do anything, you instead can continue moving the currently activated Twin for 2 seconds, then you immediately switch to the other Twin (No Nurse-Vision-Dimming).

This makes the Twins less clunky to play but still maintains the 2 second delay when switching. Right now it feels like you are going into a loading screen every time you switch, it's horrible.

I personally don't need it. But with how much killers tunnel nowadays, I run it a lot. Now here's the issue, the skill check inside of the perk lags 1/2 of the time when I use it, resulting in it being wasted. Because of this, I think DS shouldn't have a skill check. Not to mention it hurts bad players, aka the ones who need it the most.

I totally agree with you. DS has been nerfed so significantly, before the nerf, the skill check was deserved. The skill check only hurts new players and users with lag.

I'd say change it to the activate button, and you can press it at anytime you want to use DS and when DS is available, obviously.

Them linking the specific videos of winning isn't the rule. It's leaving out all the games lost, which was much more than what they won. This is like thinking a player is god tier because you watch only their youtube where they only post they matches they win on.

"Also, how are they running NOED when this is Perkless, Add-onless and a 30 second head-start for survivors game?"

Because you didn't post all the challenge videos, only one set. Also you never responded to my point about why these are possible or even how to make lots of these possible they specifically tunneled people out. You know, the literal entire point of this page.

Actually playing at high mmr is a lot different than watching a youtuber play at high mmr.

The one set of challenge videos is the only significant one, since it shows that killers are able to get 4ks and 3ks without perks, without addons and giving survivors a 30 sec headstart.

Yes, they tunnel survivors out. If you can Tunneling-off-hook-till-dead survivors, then the game should be balanced around that. Meaning that survivors should have buffs to compensate. Or Tunneling-off-hook-till-dead should be nerfed.

Obviously killers are way overpowered compared to survivors when Tunneling-off-hook-till-dead, since they can use that strategy and get 4ks and 3ks without perks, addons and giving survivors a 30 sec head-start.

We really gonna go through this again?

You can have matches where survivors play badly and win without tunneling. Exceptions don't make the rule. We operate in probability, not possibility.

You rely on survivor mistakes to win. If they make mistakes you can win without tunneling, if they don't you need to tunnel, hence lots of those videos.

Should we even mention how some of those videos were done when MMR was basically turned off? Should we mention how you probably didn't even watch all the videos to realize some of them were running NOED and specifically stated they tried to tunnel someone out as fast as possible to win? How about mentioning specifically playing during the day to get easier matches?

Nah, nah let's not mention those things, that breaks the narrative.

If you watch the videos, you will see that every single one of the streamers are getting more 4ks and 3ks as compared to 2ks,1ks and 0ks. So these aren't exceptions to the rule, these are the actual rule.

Also, how are they running NOED when this is Perkless, Add-onless and a 30 second head-start for survivors game?

  • @EntitySpawn said:

There is nothing wrong with noed.

The only thing that is bad about noed is it's way it boosts kill rates, same as rancor can.

I do feel alot of the hate towards NOED is the entitlement of Escaping, I'd be okay with a change as it wouldn't impact me.

If it stays how it is that's perfectly okay but I will say if you are a noed user YOU ARE HOLDING BACK KILLER BUFFS BY BOOSTING KILL RATES. But that the killer side of me talking and I avoid playing killer now

If you build around NOED, then I think it's fine. Like No Way Out, NOED, etc, etc.

However, if you are just randomly throwing NOED into your build just because it's better than every other perk in the entire game for giving you kills, then it's a problem.

It lets you far exceed your actual skill level as killer and is holding back killer buffs by boosting kill rates for killer-players that don't deserve those kills.

Afking for the entire game is already a report-able offense.

So doing this just wastes your own time as MMR doesn't matter if they are banned.

Because players don't get banned for going AFK that I've ever seen. If a Killer is wasting your time by going AFK, then I'm going to raise their MMR. Why should I play survivor and get placed against smurfs. It's not fair to any player to get placed against smurfs.

  • @SkeletalElite said:

Instead of each survivor having 2 hook states and then a third hook to kill htem. Survivors instead have 3 shared "team hook states" and then after those are gone each survivor gets 1 personal hook state, then the following hook state will kill them.

Right now, if you tunnel one survivor, you can get a kill in 3 hook states at which point you have basically won if the other 3 survivors didn't blow through gens in that time. Under my proposed system the first 3 hooks of the match are totally indiscriminate of the actual individual your are hooking and you can only gain value from "tunnelling" someone AFTER the first 3 hook states of the match. This means the fastest possible kill is now 5 hooks instead of 3, and it does not require you to chase only 1 individual to achieve

But on the flip side of that, the survivor team gets 1 less combined hook state over all in this system. In the current system. You can hook every survivor twice, getting a total 8 hooks, without getting ANY kills. This will often give the survivors enough time to win the game easily if they are even remotely taking the game seriously. In this new system one less hook state means you are always getting at least your first kill at your 8th hook state. If the 7th hook state didn't kill anyone, it means everyone is on death hook. The 6th hook state will either kill someone or leave it so their team with 3 people death hook. The 5th hook state will either kill someone or make it so 2 people on the team are on death hook. 4th hook state always puts an individual on death hook.

Under this system choosing to tunnel can be a game winning mid or late game decision, but at that point you have to deal with the usual things survivors do to avoid this like body blocking, DS, BT, and hiding.

However early game tunnelling is pretty much completly useless. The only reason you might want to do so is to exploit a weak link in the team.

No, built in Borrowed Time, what the developers have been discussing, is the way to go. Right now, it feels like you have to run Borrowed Time or the second a killer decides to face-camp you or tunnel-you-from-hook-till dead, you lose. There's no counter play to either of those strategies without first owning the perk, then equiping the perk. (Or Decisive Strike)

  • @humanbeing1704 said:

smh please I equip balanced landing and then I get the shelter woods curse

Shelter Woods needs a rework. The map is bland. I'd love to see a large tree-house area in the big tree in the center with stairs leading up to it, going around the trunk. And when I say tree house, I'm talking about a house built into a tree.

So i quit playing killer cuz of how stressful it feels and shifted to playing survivor. Now the issue is these afk killers i've been getting! It's getting way out of hand. I know playing killer is stressful and mmr made it even more stressful, so killers are going afk to reduce their mmr and actually have fun maybe (behavior brought this upon themselves). But instead of going afk why not quit playing killer all together? I wanted to have some fun as survivor and now i'm not even getting that. So i had to quit dbd and play Skyrim.

My suggestion to survivors is do all the generators, open the gates and let the entity kill you. That way the AFK killer goes up in MMR.

i refuse to use killer meta perks and add ons. i hate noed and other meta perks i like showing my skill not abusing the game.

but the amount of people abusing perks is insane and having to verse swfs with these tools and addons and perks is a killers nightmare.

if you gonna add ranks and make a competitive environment make it balanced, punish swfs and nerf things that make the game "ez". like struggle to get 1 killer cause i keep getting bted, dsed or flashlighted is just so annoying.

like for a killer to get 1 kill you have to go through so many perks just to get them on a hook and even that you got 3 other people who can unhook take hits so on.

AND DON'T GET ME STARTED ON THE MAP OFFERINGS, BRO CROWS EYE EVERY SINGLE GAME YOUR A SWF WITH TOOL OR FLASH ON CROWS EYE LIKE COME ON. this is the most common but their is other swf maps as well.

i am about to call quits till the 13 cause this is a joke and reminds me of surv rank 1 where i get noeded and other broken killer perks on me. this is just so boring having to use your brain so much just to lose and not get a single kill cause devs think this is fortnite and everyone deserves a win.

this is a competive game not a casual one make is right not have this garbage floating in the game that people will pickup and abuse cause "why not".

I went and checked your MMR and it's honestly, pretty bad. You are lower than 37.5% of killer players. Eyrie of Crows is actually a very common map for your level of MMR.

First there was 1 survivor, I tried to hook her, she wiggled out. She ran back, I followed her, downed her. She recovered to injured state, I didn't know she had Endurance, she looped me a bit on the top of the library. I downed her again. Then 2nd survivor came there, for reasons I don't know. Finally they stepped on my ######### so I could Cage at least one of them, I think I Caged both tbh. Then I just tunneled them, but at the end of match it was just W holding contest.

It sounds like you were screwed as killer. It was an SWF that came in with a specific purpose and goal in mind. That's not a perk issue, it's a SWF with communication issue. A SWF with communication and goal in mind will make a plaything out of about any killer-player. The problem is, you can't balance around coordinated-SWFs without screwing over solos and normal SWFs. Coordinated-SWFs are on a completely other level. You have to remember that there's a lot of SWFs that just friends playing together that don't even come close to the power-level of a bunch of great players forming an SWF with a specific purpose in mind.

The best you can do is send them against high level Nurse players.

Was the killer overpowered... Or survivors were just dumb? Look at the points for each side... This match could be ended in 3 minutes with all generators done but the killer could have camped and killed 3 survivors with 3 hooks just because they were too much greedy to left one of their owns to die... I can kill an entire team perkless and addon less if they are so dumb... As you said most of the times screenshots prove nothing... They can gave hints how a match could be ended, but it's start and end here...

I'm being sarcastic. Screenshots are a stupid way to prove a point.

  • @Sludge said:

No need to introduce killer nerfs, DH could be deleted and survivors would still be OP.

You have to view everything about this game through the eyes of the developers. The developers have stated numerous times that the game is balanced based on their 2k/2e goal.

Since Dead Hard is being used in about 50% of matches, then if Dead Hard is increasing survivor win-rates, then survivor win rates will go down. Since the developers want a 2k/2e balance, the developers would need to then nerf killers.

You can't remove a perk used in 50% of matches and that is increasing survivor win rates without introducing a massive imbalance in the game.

It isn't irrelevant because they had Boon: Exponential and Soul Guard gives Endurance. Slugging was what I did. What else did you expect? You expected 4k? or even 1k?

And no, I didn't know about library hook issue.

Ok, I would actually like to see the match at this point. There's a lot of information missing.

Generally, with this load out, I would expect the survivors to run to the top of the library at the very end of that narrow balcony and get downed there. If that is happening, then a killer should be able to body block other survivors from getting to the downed survivor and just let that survivor bleed out.

I guess the survivors had Boon: Exponential setup somewhere close the balcony.

In this situation, it's not Boil Over causing the problem, it's a coordinated SWF using the lack of hooks to their advantage. The same thing would have happened if they replaced Boil Over with Sabotage.

Yeah. do let me know how fair it is for someone who just started the game against all this perks.

There's a reason why everyone is running all those perks instead of something else.

The killer-player in this example got 3 kills using only 3 perks, while the survivors hardly got any points, indicating that the killer easily got kills and wont the match. If you are trying to show that killers are overpowered, then you have successfully done that.

BTW, random screenshots of matches don't indicate anything.

  • @MrPeanutbutter said:

I doubt it will ever be changed. We’ll keep getting the usual ”we’re looking at it” answer in Q&A. Devs know that any nerfs to DH will upset a huge portion of the player base and probably lose a lot of players. Seems like they prefer a continued slow loss of killer players than a mass exodus of survivor players.

Dead Hard is probably a lose/lose situation for BHVR.

You don't do anything with Dead Hard and killer-players are unhappy.

You nerf Dead Hard, you upset a massive amount of survivors and then you make killer-players happy. Then you make killer-players very upset with all the killer-nerfs you have to introduce.

  • @Bwsted said:

They shadownerfed validation. If DH was considered fine pre-validation in the stats, now that we are in a similar situation, then they'll most likely come out saying they looked at the numbers and it's not overperferming. I already made a discussion about it.

I think it would be nice if BHVR gave us some type of update on it, just so we knew what was happening with it. There's way-way to many forum posts to not give players an update on the status of it.

What data are the developers seeing on Dead Hard? The developers can see if Dead Hard is increasing escape rates at the highest MMR as compared to the other exhaustion perks.

Watch. someone will just say a streamer name can do it on their stream then the rest of the killers got to play like them.

I said that if one of the best players can get 4ks with every single killer without perks, add ons and giving survivors a head start, then the top players can also do the same with meta perks, addons and without giving players a head start.

I know some killers are weaker than other killers but the differences between the killers is not as massive as everyone is saying. (Except for Nurse who is horribly broken). Someone who is a great player and plays Trapper constantly will be able to get 4ks at the highest MMR with Trapper, it's a proven fact.

It's not the killer that's that determines if a player can get to the highest MMR in this game, it's the player's own skill. Not everyone is not in the top 1% of players in this game. It just isn't going to happen. There are people that are faster, hear better, think quicker and just have skills that make them the best players in DBD.

No amount of playing this game is going to make you better than these people.

  • @Starrseed said:

So I am confused. Is this the truth?

I often see people saying this but at the same time I see people often say the killer failed when all gens get done. Often when they talk about neod or anything late game related.

How can it be a fail if the game is balanced like that? Since the hatch rework 2 escapes can only happen if the gens get done.

BTW yesterday a dev said its a draw when the killer gets only two kills wich means the whole balance for 2k/2e would be weird

Each kill, you gain so many points, I'm going to say 100 because it's easy. Each escape you lose -100 points. Each hatch escape and each disconnect you don't receive points. A win is any match that gives you points and a loss is any match where you lose points.

    1. 2k/2e = 200 - 200 points = 0 points (A Draw)
    2. 2k/1e/1hatch = 200 - 100 + 0 = 100 points (A win)
    3. 1k/3 Disconnects = 100 + 0 = 100 points (A win)
    4. 3 Disconnects/1e = 0 - 100 = -100 points (A loss)

Does that explain it for you.

Tbh, tier lists are subjective. There's only 3 Killers almost everyone agrees with, those being Nurse, Blight and Spirit

Everyone uses it as a method to communicate what they think about killers, but if everyone has a different idea for which each tier means, then it's an absolutely useless form of communication.

For example, you view Tier-C as situational while I view it similar to getting a "C" in school, which is passing.

It's just interesting to me how many communication problems could be solved by just offering a definition before presenting a new idea or concept.

Another example is face-camping. Some people see it as a killer standing right in front of you, while other people see it as a killer being within striking range of you but moving around.

CoH is the only new Meta perk in that amount of time and it has been nerfed almost to uselessness at this point. I'd say either this nerf or the next CoH nerf will make it as good as Self Care.
