The problem with Freddy is that he's not enjoyable for either side to play. It's not enjoyable for the Killer to have a 7 second head start in a chase. It's not enjoyable to spend 20 minutes waiting for a skill check so that you can start playing the game again.
There's also the RNG problem which I've had several points of view on. I don't think Freddy at his core is flawed by the sleeping mechanic is awful and is the root of 95% of his issues.

That's Legion. Freddy is very fun to play as.

Most Survivors don't like going against him because they expect EZ TROLL HIM OCHIDO STYLE xDDDD but he isn't that easy if the Freddy is experienced. But that doesn't apply to everyone. Some people do just have killers they just don't like playing against; me personally, playing against Hag is hell.

Hey what's up fellow epic gamer whomst I ironically first encountered when I was playing as Fredward. How's it been? It's been a while since we last jerked each other off over our superior Fredward main intellect.

    Okay
    so
    basically
FREDDY GOES HA HA HA AND I DON'T THINK THAT'S BEATABLE

  • Just grab the Pizza Sweater and the Sweat Pants, that's the way to flex on that killer. I also bring Millennial Dwight so I don't have to look at them. Dwight is too cool for school.

  • Everybody thinks Freddy is easy to master, this is a fat R.I.P for my Mid tier boy.

  • @TigerKirby215 said:
It goes without saying that Nurse is the hardest Killer to master. It's just raw mechanical knowledge and muscle memory however, but learning all of it takes a lot of time. Nurse is basically a fighting game character in a Hide-and-Seek simulator: you're going to spend hours learning the moves but then dominate the competition.

As for easiest? Contenders go to Hillbilly, Doctor, and Wraith but my pick would have to be Leatherface. There are no complexities to Leatherface. Leatherface is a default killer with an instadown. You play Leatherface by getting into range in an open area and instadowning: it's that simple.
It takes time to learn how to control Hillbilly's chainsaw. Doctor can be hard to master since you need to learn the range of your power and at what range you can stop a vault / pallet drop. Wraith takes a lot of gamesense to sneak up on Survivors and to know when to use your power to chase.

    RIP my boy Bubba. :(

Hillbilly. Easy, effective, the go-to beginner killer. His chainsaw travels great distances, can be used to down inexperienced Survivors and even some experienced Survivors if caught in the open, it has priority over window vaults, it's ridiculous with BBQ & Chili, it can be used to force pallets against less skilled Survivors, he isn't DLC so you get him from the start, all and all he is the perfect killer if you want EZ and effective.

Doctor is also easy, though not as effective. There isn't much interaction while using his power; you just hold it and it go bzzt and people go aaah.

As for hardest, Trapper, Nurse, Spirit, and Huntress all come to mind.

How is Trapper hard to master? Trapper is go-to first killer for most players, not Billy. All you do is set traps and hope survivors step in them. Other than that, he is just an M1 killer. Not that hard to master.

Trapper is definitely not good, but it takes a lot of predicting to play Trapper effectively. Though I'll admit I'm biased because Trapper is my baby boy. But if you "just set traps," that's probably why no one steps in them. You have to think about what you'll do later in a chase, how to corral them, where they'll go relevant to what generators are completed and how many pallets/windows are in an area, how easy it is to predict the trap will be there for the Survivor... a lot of variables people won't even ever consider because they're already given up on the killer.

Also Freddy is another underrated killer who is not as shallow as he seems. There is a deeper layer to the mindgames available during Sleep Transition (especially with but not limited to Pill Bottle.) He's also a normal speed, short, low terror radius killer so mindgames with pallets work fantastic with him. Also, you don't need to immediately chase someone you've slept. Hitting them grants access to healing skill check wake-ups; without those, an uncoordinated team may have to rely on hurting generators just to wake up. Making sure as many people are asleep as possible is your most valid strategy. Freddy is all about slowing the game, not chasing that one guy you just slept and leaving the others to do whatever. Which is also why Class Photo is a little bit underrated.

  • Boil Over doesn't really change anything, it's better to use it over something like Slippery Meat or Small Game, but otherwise the effect is too small to be worth it.

Because Legion is easy-mode, hand-held, babied, pay 2 win, crutch Killer?

...But he isn't even good at sacrificing. He can target one person and guarantee they're done for, but everyone else will get away if they have even an ounce of skill in them. He's just a poorly designed killer. He's fun for no one involved.

  • If we're talking about killers that actually need a rework, Leatherface and Legion are standing right there. Freddy is a hard to play killer with amazing payoff if you can master his more subtle abilities.

  • Ha ha I still depip as always so I guess you're just living on Cloud 9.

  • People don't hate him because he's good or bad, people hate him because there isn't a counterplay to it. Survivors like to feel rewarded and get satisfaction by avoiding the Killer's attempts. That's the entire appeal to Survivor. Legion's power is unavoidable, which denies the satisfaction that our brains associate with playing Survivor. It's the same deal when Killers get Decisive Striked, or Sprint Bursted, it's extremely dissatisfying and there's no counterplay for it.

  • Don't need to fix what isn't broke.

  • If you combine EW3, Bamboozle, and Fire Up you get the big walk over pallets.

  • Put it in the Fan Creation tab.

  • Even if they aren't great at least you got comments, that's more than I can say.

Anyway, I would like John Wick just for the "epic lulz" or whatever. I mean, he's a hitman that's been in Payday and Fortnite, two extremely different games, and Dead by Daylight is even more different. I guess the more media he's in the better. Also, a killer with a gun sounds awesome.

The power is just worse Bubba's Chainsaw

and I didn't know there could be a worse Bubba's Chainsaw

I don't get how you could compare it to bubba's chainsaw, charge almost guarantees a hit from long range, it can move around rocks and loops quickly and easily.

Well, and this is a little bit of an unsubtle flex here so excuse me but it does support my point in my eyes, I've never had trouble maneuvering around rocks while chainsawing, as you don't have to hug the rock as tightly as most people think and if you're walking sideways around the whole thing you aren't losing as much turning momentum.

But besides that, both powers get severely stopped by windows. Windows are a Leatherface's nightmare. Windows are a Chef's nightmare. Chef by a literal technical line of code, and Leatherface in a gameplay sense as technically his power continues. The big difference between the two that I see are: The Chef's can be done at an extremely long range, though there's still nothing stopping the Survivor from just going through a window at any distance. The Chef's is just a hit in which he has to wipe his blade afterwards and chase after the Survivor. Leatherface's is a oneshot, although I can't believe I'm using that as a point because Leatherface's power is so bad.

Also, thematically, the power is kind of boring. You run. It's also not fun to use because after you've targeted someone there's nothing you can do except watch yourself run at someone.

It's like a worse Bubba's Chainsaw and a less fun Feral Frenzy.

Welcome to the Kitchen is very weak, I don't think I'd ever see anyone running it unless it's for the Adept. Maybe make it the first time for each Survivor? Or maybe that's what you meant and I read it wrong.

Salmonella is a good idea, I like that one. Though it has the same problem as the Legion moonwalk but hopefully that'll be fixed soon anyways. It helps invoke more stalling. The only problem is it renders Legion's ability useless in comparison but I don't see anyone complaining.

Reheated is an okay idea, I've seen it done before but that's because it is something we should have. I just don't get the flavor text and the name, they don't match. If you're reheating food you aren't going faster. It would be faster to just munch on the cold stuff.

Also the English isn't phenomenal but that isn't your fault so it isn't part of my argument.

I've never understood why people say Freddy is the weakest. I 4k with him roughly 75% of the time, although that might be from my experience from getting his daily every other day.

Great, no. Boring, yes. Weak, not if you play him right.

Now Leatherface... HE needs help (yes, I realize my hypocrisy here).

I'm glad more and more people are realizing that Leatherface needs help, not Freddy.

But it's too late, the devs are changing Freddy and not Leatherface, at least as of now.

  • Would be nice to have some more variety than the default and Michael's, and while I think it's a little too action movie-y, it still fits in well and I'd be glad to have it in.

  • I don't know, for me it seems like killers like this with no real counterplay, no one likes. See Legion. To explain what I mean, even if you see he is about to call and you know he's going to, there isn't much you can do to avoid it. You can start running and maybe get a headstart, but he's still going to follow you. No matter what, the call goes off and he sees where you were. He's just a bootleg Doctor with instant access to his tracking. As for fixing the current power, maybe make it so it doesn't start ringing until after the first skillcheck? Although that makes competent players basically never get affected by it... I don't know, it's not entirely well thought out.

As for the actual killer themself, I'd love to see Ghostface though I think they're done with 3rd parties for now. But the idea of Ghostface ringing my little phone and running at me with his goofy little run is... mwah.

  • I think the bottom line is the entry level on Billy is very low. While there is some interesting stuff you can do, to play him effectively vs. playing someone like Nurse, Huntress, Trapper, he takes a lot less knowledge. You just zoom. Being bad on a map doesn't balance a killer because it is a small chance for it to be that map. It's 1/26 for it to be Lery's. 3.85%. That's assuming no one takes an offering, because it's very rare survivors WANT to go to Lery's. He's the go-to beginner killer, more-so than Wraith.

Plus, the highest his skill ceiling goes is learning that chainsaw almost always beats window, don't chainsaw at every pallet because that gets you looped more, and you can turn. Though this part is a lot more opinionated which is why I put it in italics.

Freddy is by far the worst killer in Dead by Daylight. The only real purpose of his power is to remove the hindrance he has by default (can't interact with survivors), and he gets cucked by the most used perks in the game (Self care, Sprint burst and Adrenaline). He's the only killer that has to give a up to 9.5 seconds head start to his targets, who can, by the way, keep doing whatever they were doing right in his face without him being able to do anything about it. He's even less than your regular M1 killer (like the Doctor or the Trapper). He has a laughable stealth and the most basic-ass offense you can think of, that pretty much only kinda works if the survivors ignore him during the transition. He's so bad that he can't even camp properly. He can't even secure a kill. He has no way to stop/punish hookrushing, bad positioning or stupid plays by survivors in general. And, as we all know, killers win if the survivors play non-optimally or if they make silly mistakes... I don't think you people realize that Freddy is the only killer that can't capitalize on these situations. No matter how you "mindgame" survivors you still have to wait 7 seconds to hit them. If a survivor is anything but braindead, they will run to the nearest pallet/loop, and proceed to loop you for 5 generators.
Every other killer is far better than Freddy, because they don't take nearly as [BAD WORD] long to take action against survivors.

It's like you didn't read the post literally right here.
    FREDDY IS NOT COMPLETE GARBAGE
TRAPPER, CLOWN, AND LEATHERFACE ARE ALL INFINITELY WORSE
FREDDY'S POWER IS EXCELLENT FOR TRACKING, MINDGAMES, AND STALLING
MAYBE IF YOU DIDN'T FOLLOW ONE PERSON THE WHOLE TIME YOU WOULDN'T BE HAVING THESE ISSUES
It's not like he's good though he's still only midtier. He only has mediocre map control with no real mobility and is the only killer that can't hatch standoff unless they're already asleep.

    In conclusion, DARN

  • @Crizpen said:
I'd disagree for the simple fact that Billy is highly effective in a limited number of maps, without a decent amount of skill.

In the Corn Fields, sure, he's incredible at applying pressure anywhere he wants and jumping all over the map with no hesitation or worry. In most other maps, this isn't the case. Lery's is obviously the worst, since there are almost no straight lines that don't have all sorts of crap filling them, but the resort, The Game, Family Residence, etc... aren't all that much better. And good survivors know how to loop small objects, such as trees, to make using the chainsaw a waste of time for Billy.

Learning how and when to use the chainsaw makes Billy one of the harder killers to learn to be effective with in the red ranks, since nearly every survivor knows how to take advantage of an inexperienced or unskilled one. Like the Nurse, Billy has to be able to predict where the survivors will move when they hear the chainsaw behind them, since it is relatively easy to juke.

On the other hand, Spirit is able to travel much of the map extremely quickly, and between her ability and her animations, makes mind gaming her almost impossible. She requires two hits to down, but they aren't exceptionally difficult hits to land. Or, she can throw on Prayer Beads and grab survivors off generators without ever needing to swing her sword. And, she works on every map.

Legion, who can down with 3 strikes with Frank's Mix Tape and Stab Wound Study, or 2 with Cold Dirt and Joey's Mix Tape, and has almost no counter-play, as he's able to completely ignore pallets and windows. He requires less skill to make his kills than does Billy, and doesn't suffer from stuns or even a cooldown if he misses a swing while in Frenzy. And, he works on every map.

So, while I'd generally agree that Billy is very powerful, I would disagree with the idea that he doesn't require a deal of practice to be effective with in the red ranks, unless you have enough map offerings to always get the fields.

    Spot the Billy main!

Look, I play Clown and Trapper so I know what's hard to play and what isn't, and once you learn that turning is slow on Billy you've learnt the whole character and are free to rocket around. I'll agree with you on Lery's and The Game, MAYBE Haddonfield but Haddonfield is hard for every killer, but otherwise, EZ character.

  • Oh man Close Quarters seems unfun. It just further discourages stealth, an already weaker form of playing with survivors. We're trying to shift things away from looping a little, not make it happen more.

  • but what if we want jason

  • As far as the name goes, we already have Of Flesh and Mud so Of Hats and Hares is a little too similar.

Maybe something short and simple, like Hat Trick, or something more poetic like Deceptions of Doom. I dunno. Basically the current name doesn't work imo.

  • Most Leatherface players have to get really good at the fundamentals of the game, you know, the stuff every base killer can do, because his chainsaw doesn't do much. As long as you have a window near you you're basically immune to it. Leatherfaces, and this is a generalized statement because I've seen some braindead Leatherfaces, but Leatherfaces are typically the best at basic mindgames because it's all he has.

Lel. It isn't specifically fourth wall breaking, there is a lore related reason as to why he would be able to collect these add-ons.

Well, you know what I mean. It's not something any one else has been noted as doing and isn't really even hinted at in the lore, though with everything we know it could be possible. So I guess it'd be more like... 3rd wall breaking. Which isn't a thing. But you get the implication.

Though it is a seriously good idea and now I want to make a killer with a similar scavenging theme. Everything else would be completely thematically different, I just adore that specific idea so much. I didn't want to be one of those people that just snatch an entire idea as my own so I figured I would ask first.

If you wanna say joey is a nickname so is Joe which both are alternate forms of Joseph it is not uncommon for someone to prefer joey over Joe (I know this from experience). As for the store referring to him as joe how tends to be the formal nickname so that's most likely why that is.

It's the formal nickname and that's why I call him that. Both work, there's no reason to be upset about it. You can't pretend that the virtual character prefers to be called Joey because he's virtual. Now what I've gathered is that your name is Joey too and so you feel a connection over that, which is... fine, but there isn't a reason to get upset when someone calls him something else.

One can stall the game, the other is an M1 killer who can camp which isn't even a viable strategy.

  • I'm a mix. I go back and forth. My pfp gives away my Killer main, but as a Survivor I play Punk Rock Hagrid, Adam, and Quentin.

  • Whole thing is worth it due to the idea of a Dwight trying to go into a locker and Jason just being there and grabbing him

Hell that should be the trailer for it

  • The biggest problem with this is how a change can fix some things but cause more problems with others. Enter bodyblocking, basically. Having less time to hit those in your way would be a travesty.

I definitely agree with the notion to buff Boil Over though. Boil Over needs to be better.

  • I don't know dude, I like the freedom of picking any Survivor I want. I don't want it to be the same deal as killers in Rank 1 in which you only see Nurses and Billys. Unless the abilities are extremely weak and balanced so carefully, it would cause too much of a split and too much of one Survivor imo.

  • I don't think it would be super helpful for actual gameplay mechanic learning, but I would like it for the sake of having it. Like, maybe if you're changing controls or practicing with a new controller, it could be nice.
