It's literally a meme (creepypasta), has no "real" backstory, and is associated with some people who went psycho over him. No, thank you.
You gotta bring up the Psycho part again.....ugh
It's like me saying I stole a box of cookies from girl scouts and blaming it on Cookie monster. It's literally a fictional character and no one should pin the blame on a character because of something that happened.
The reason he has no backstory is that the internet made him up based on some photos which leave the imagination to the fans.

I actually wonder how that would work license wise who owns slenderman?
I looked it up a while ago and its owned by Mythology Entertainment since 2016 which later made the Movie "The we love sooooo much" by Sony
I think it is quite possible to get the License but I just hope his design is based on his original outfit and not the Sony version which is his suit is his body.
Would make sense to go to the Arrival version with maybe an updated look sorta like Noah Summers version.
Noah summers version

i been sayin i want slenderman for a long time. be a very cool additional, don't know how he'd work, but neato.
He would probably work something like Spirit, Doctor, and a hint with Ghostface with stealth. But to be honest he has a lot of powers so tons of possibilities.
What's funny is people actually kinda got hyped thinking he was coming to the game cause of removing faces of dbd logo and something else about some sort of static thing going on which can't remember if it was also the logo or something else.
I have been noticing more Slenderman speculations recently this year so hoping its a sign....even if it's just a sliver of hope.
-
huh not lot of views on this one

Slenderman is one of the biggest ideas I have wanted this badly since DBD started adding licensed Killers. Even if folklore/mythology Killers aren't *technically* always licensed (like Oni and Spirit), it could be a goldmine of new content that I REALLY wanna see happening.
It's Licensed I believe by Mythology Entertainment, I would prefer Arrival or a mix between that and slender 8 pages model of Slenderman ingame. The movie version by Sony won't be like at all......that was that threw Slenderman into the abyss.

@AGM said:
No offense to anyone who likes Slenderman, but as I got older I found Slenderman to be kinda... lame. The character is nowhere near the level of horror juggernauts like Myers and Freddy. I think it'd be a bit odd if he ended up in DBD.
Yeah, Slenderman kinda just.....faded out of existence and was hardly mentioned after 2014 then just flat out died in 2017/2018.
Feel like Dead By Daylight would do him some justice judging on how well they did to characters like Pyramid Head and Nemesis.
He deserves some spotlight before he is just another forgotten memory left in the past and plus who knows might be bigger then FNAF.
-
@OnryosTapeRentals said:
Personally, I'm indifferent. Don't have a strong preference either way.
Yeah that describes most people's views on some chapters anyway. It's either you love it or don't mind it in most cases.
Like one person did not mind Myers but loved when Nemesis came out so gotta respect people who go with the flow of the game.
@Dito175 said:
As long as the power is cool, and if the character has nice lore so it wouldn't feel out of place I would gladly welcome him.
Same here would make a great companion for Ghost face in lore wise since Slenderman would also be connected to the Entity like Ghostface.

You have a point about hybrids being not always bad, but that combo makes me a little unsettled. Especially since they're the two strongest killers in the game and Slendy kinda mimics their power
Yeah true, feel like his teleportation would be set locations with 8 random places with pages with a radius he can teleport near the page but can't move the page. Pretty sure Devs could think something making him powerful but still balanced. I mainly just like to see him as stealthy as possible while being Brutal and being good in red ranks so still scary to face against him.
Would be fun playing as Slenderman like from his games while still having fun at red ranks for both sides.
-
@DwarvenTavern said:
It could work.... but maybe not
So. He teleports around, he doesn't move, and he attacks if people look at him
So, seeing him carry a survivor and walking around fluently just seems... kinda upsetting.
Maybe unsettling to some, but I don't see that.
Plus, their power would be too... convoluted. Or we'd have a Nurse/Spirit hybrid.
Yeah true, I would think he would carry them like Nemesis or use his tentacles for a more fitting animation.
Power would be hard but not impossible if given a while to think about it since did see quite a few good concepts that seemed fitting.
Hybrids are not bad but as it's differently played than killers like Deathslinger is sorta similar to Huntress merged with Legion with deep wound.
I just feel like if done right he would be a very good killer to play and face against like a Mirror myers but can do very well in high ranks while giving scares.
@Jarol said:
The truth is that I do not care if it is or not, but it works as it really is, A stalker with the ability to drive anyone crazy and teleport.
Yeah true but would be fun as long its not a insta down all the time since he can get stealth approach almost all the time so insta dowing everyone would be very OP. Maybe some sort of status effect that lasts for a while or something that slows the game down while still providing scares.

Slenderman but not Sony Version
Ignore comment, did not realized this was a necroed thread.
-
Then there is my using Hysteria.
-
Slenderman
Grew up with him in middle school when reading the "Good" Creepypasta and playing the Slender games like 8 pages and Arrival.
Also, find it fascinating how he was made by the internet's fan theories and stories based on few photoshopped pictures for a contest.
Can be an excellent killer with teleportation, sanity breaks, tentacles, some mechanic with 8 pages, and much more if we take a deeper dive in theories on him based on video games.
Ps no movie version since I only go by Arrival or concept art by Noah Summers or some design based on either of those 2.
-
Blight because feels sorta Gothic horror music to me......I don't know why

Just silently waits for the nonexistent future Slender chapter.

Well, 50% correct the real Annabelle is a raggedy ann doll which is now at a Museum in Monroe, Connecticut.

I've actually been thinking of perk concepts and a power concept for Slenderman
Could always have more concepts of Slenderman since would bring more attention to him.
I would think he would be somewhat stealthy like a Spirit or a Ghostface but has enough power to do 1v4 since he has lot of powers like Tentacles, static interference, teleportation, something about pages, stealthy as heck until you hear a noise notification. Lot of ways to make him fun to play and play against while still making him powerful so Killer does not have to sweat as much when Survivors are very good.

Same and that's why I am making this series XD. Takes a long time to make the art but worth it to bring attention to Slenderman since quite a bit of people want him ingame but not a lot of art or videos about him besides only very few.
Just love him mostly because he evolved into this mysterious being because everyone on the internet made theories and scary stories about a photoshopped picture that was made for an art contest.
Also loved the Slenderman video games and Marble Hornets series and movie [not Sony]

as far as I'm aware achievements will still be possible, as we've said we will also be giving Rank Rewards based on the highest rank that you are when it resets...as everyone will be reset to rank 20.
Cool, thank you
-
@Mandy said:
When Skill Based Matchmaking is implemented you will be matched with players around your own skill.
For killers this means that each of your characters will have individual skill levels so you will be matched with survivors on that basis, for example if you are bad at Pig but amazing with Nurse, you will face stronger survivors as Nurse and weaker ones with Pig.
There's no individual ranking for survivors as they are effectively just skins as there's no power change etc.
Ranks will effectively be meaningless then because ranks pretty much only show time played as opposed to actual skill level.
We have not made the information public on how the skill of a player is assessed there are some pretty complex algorithms on this and this is information that has been decided to remain hidden for the time being at least - I do not know if it will be explained further in the future.
Will there still be a chance of getting rank 1 killer achivement?

Ive actually never heard of Marble Hornets. I’ve looked into it a bit and it looks creepy and seems to stays true to the tales. I never watched the Slenderman movie because of the bad reviews and I did see a few clips but they were…. Silly…but I agree I think Slenderman is interesting and from slender arrival they’d already have a bunch of characters in the world.
Yeah Marble Hornets is a really good series that does justice for Slenderman and The Sony movie is not......even good like you said.
Slender arrival still remains pretty scary to this day.
@glitchboi said:
Yes I'm serious, I think Slenderman can be a creative 3rd stalk-based killer that has high 1v4 potential. I can see something like a tentacle-based power and a teleportation ability. Plus Creepypasta has made me ######### myself as a wee child.
100% right, he can be an awesome top tier 1v4 killer if done right if he has his tentacle power and teleportation ability but also maybe something with his static effects and 8 pages.
Creepypasta back then was pretty good and scary but now it's not really, well ones I looked at are not scary but there are probably a few good ones that I gotta try and find. So why not bring the main man himself that has been giving everyone nightmares since 2009 to make Dead By Daylight truly scary.

They bought the rights to make the Slenderman film, I assume because they make those kind of grim films. The name of the company makes perfect sense for their work and wasn't really a coincidence.
Oh yeah I know was not a coincidence cause of the name but just bit ironic since the company name fits perfectly. Still, kinda wish they attempt to do another Slenderman movie but this time with Marble Hornets since they did a pretty good job staying true with the fan source.
Would be interesting to see a cinematic horror universe with Slenderman in it though ngl.
-
just a little ping since you made a poll earlier about him.
-
Now he just needs more traps in base kit to make him perfect.
Least now don't have to keep using that ash or tar bottle addon to make traps not so bright which I am glad devs changes mostly because traps now look like they have been used many times in different trials.
-
Slenderman would make the game really terrifying if they use the Slender arrival version or somethings based on that.
But not the movie version.......just no.
Loved the fan games of Slender and the Arrival game which still is pretty good to this day about scaring you.

Urban Legend
When hitting a survivor not affected by a status effect see the yellow auras of gens being worked on for 15 seconds
Hitting a survivor with a status effect will let you see the aura of any survivor 7 meters from you for 3 seconds.
"Legends are meant to be stories but some serve as warnings"
Always Watches
When hooking a survivor after 10 seconds 2 random copies with a terror radius will walk to 2 random gens with smaller terror radius and if a survivor is in the copies terror radius their auras are shown for 10 seconds
cool down 40 seconds
"CAN'T RUN"

A slendermam chapter would be absolutely amazing. He has a perfect concept with the papers he hides in the woods and his tentacle things.
He does have quite bit of powers that done correctly could be the scariest killer ingame while still being quite powerful enough that survivors have to be careful and have to worry about him.
-
Props for writing all that down instead of typing it.
Ngl prefer this over then having The Thing DLC since always a fan of the supernatural and bet this killer would have tons of horrific cosmetics.
This killer would make Doctor and Nurse a run for their money.

Just hope he does get in-game his design is his Slender arrival or based on it.
Pretty cool character since the entire internet basically made him.

Finally someone not against Slenderman. The iconic character from my Childhood of reading scary stories in middle school and enjoying the good horror games in tough times.

Mostly if your hiding behind a rock and somehow they kicked you out of power.

Well, hope this mini-series gets noticed later down the road since gonna be lot of art.........my brain is gonna break probably.

also does once a week upload of art count as spam? Cause making lot of art and don't want to make a mistake of making it into spam.

Also fun fact Slenderman is owned by Mythology Entertainment.
Bit ironic since he is basically a myth/urban legend

@NoOneKnowsNova said:
His power just sounds boring. Another ranged killer with a weak seeming side effect. If Nemesis is B tier then this guy wouldnt make it far.
Additionally, all the perks seem weak. Hex: Lost Children only really helps if all survivors go to the same gate, and even then it doesnt warrant playing with 3 perks for most of the game.
The Eight Pages is probably his best perk, and even then that's not good, as if you're getting Bloodlust you're just committing too long to the chase. It sounds like it would work well with NoeD, but then you're practically only using 2 perks.
Finally, Something Awful sounds extremely weak. 12 seconds for most survivors and 20 seconds for the obsession is practically nothing, and suffers the same issue that poised does. It's just way too situational to make any use.
I'll never be opposed to a chapter if it's made well, but this doesnt sound fun.
Yeah that is true, I just pulled it up since neatest and cleanist chapter concept I can find and does seem fine on paper but need lot of tuning.
I would just think of a mix between Doctor and Spirit but a more balanced version and not the type to make the game unfun with no counters.
Grew up with Slenderman and got me into the horror genre but also would make game bit scary if done right.
Also pretty sure this one would just persuade camping lol.
Long story short just a fun blast from the past but Devs would make a better power since again just threw this one here because caught my eye.

You and I have very different definitions of "classic horror icon". Slenderman is 8 years old and is just a creepypasta. The only reason he got notoriety was because of people literally going psycho over him.
What got me into him was Slender the Arrival with Markiplier and some of his scary stories. Also ironically if you look at some research about people that went psycho was also psyco with multiple other characters but not getting into it.
He literally became a horror icon just from a photo in a contest and everything about him was made by the internet making him into this mysterious tall being connected to 8 pages.
And classic does not mean it has to be old like Freddy or Ghost face since Pyramid Head is a classic and he is from 2001.
The main reason he got popular was that he had no real backstory so fans made their own to fill in the giant gaps creating The Slenderman people know today.
He just needs some Spotlight again and a fresh new start since he is wanted by quite a bit of people from the community and mentioned a lot by a certain fog whisper in some wanted videos.
Ps loved him in my childhood being scared from either video games or creeped out by stories.
-
Mean while I just would like Slenderman. Classic horror icon from 2013 and could actually be connected to the Entity

Yeah then something did happen to him

Well specifically for a killer like Blight, there can be merit in just being able to practice your sliding terrain vs bump terrain which seems to be programmed differently from map to map. So in one map you'll have a bumpy killer shack, and in another you'll have a sliding killer shack. But beyond that, theres not much value to get because a bot just isn't going to react to Blight the same way a player is.
That pretty much sums it up mostly since bots will just move in one direction and players can 360 or go the opposite direction.
Still a good idea for bot matches sorta like a warm-up or learn killer power before heading to practice more on live servers but I get what you're saying because AI is different with Players since they are unpredictable while Bots sometimes are predictable......like doubt every survivor will drop all pallets even if the killer is close like the AI does in tutorial.
Blight still has very weird hitboxes to get used to anyway even in live matches.
Funny thing is Bots are good for learning loops but awful to learn mind games with since they basically have wall hacks because they are pathed AI so its impossible to mind game a bot that knows where you are going at all times.

I am glad to see that someone agrees. I think Scarecrow would be the only Comic book characters who would actually fit the game.
And, truth be told, he fits DBD more than Trickster does :)
Since he is a character that deals with fear, I believe it would be interesting if his power had the effect of making each survivor see illusions or glimpses of their respective killer.
For example, if you were playing as Detective Tapp, you would suddenly see Pig lunging towards you. Kinda like Doctor, but with a little bit more of jumpscare.
I think it would be nice.
Yeah that would make the game lot more terrifying. Maybe something like Freddy's dream world but you can't escape sorta like Doc's madness with tiers.
And have the illusions when they attack survivors to make them have a status effect and scream.
-
@GeneralV said:
Scarecrow.
Tbh the only Comic book character I would like as a killer.
Chemist obsessed with causing fear dressed in a long coat, a wide-brimmed hat, sack hood, and a scythe would fit pretty well in the game.
Besides Scarecrow no one really from DC or Marvel since Scarecrow blends in well in the game because not a lot of them give a real horror vibe.
Like most super villains and superheroes are expected to have an epic battle while in DBD survivors are running in fear from the killer and Killers actually kill while Villains usually give a giant speech and such while trying to kill.
Scarecrow causes fear and mass panic. Most villains want money/power while he just wants to cause fear for his studies and sometimes even kill.
Lot of his designs look straight out of a horror film. Even the nightmare of dreams voiced him at one point.
Not into the whole comic dlcs from marvel or DC but if we were to ever get one then has to be Scarecrow since he is actually terryfing.

There is an argument to be made for killers like Blight, Nurse, Oni, or Billy that require a lot more accuracy in the use of their power, however I don't think bots will be good enough to even give a player a beginning level of understanding with them. This is simply because it is extremely difficult to program a bot with the complex behaviors of a player, if nigh on impossible. The, by far and away, best solution is to friend some survivors after a match that give you a hard time and see if they'll scrim with you for practice. I did that when playing huntress, got introduced to some nice comp team bros and now my hatchets are crazy accurate.
Very good points but still would be nice to have some sort of AI you can practice with if no one is available during that time but guess gotta wait while anyway for KYF since Blight is still bugged so doing KYF is pointless for now XD.
Still KYF for practice is good but again would be nice to have practice against AI if no one is around to help, though your points are 100% right.
-
@papichulo said:
It would be an amazing feature considering I dont have friends. Maybe you can even choose the difficulty of the bots and their character! Love the idea and would be happy with it!
That would be awesome since could make the bots braver in choice-making like working on gen in terror radius or doing a risky unhook. Killer not going to pick up downed survivor but instead chasing someone else or tries to hid red stain at large loops.
@SweetTerror said:
In the developer update they revealed that offline bot matches are coming with the mid chapter update.
Hope means I can finally practice Blight and figure out what builds suit me.
@BenihimeWrath said:
I would be intensely doubtful if they could program bots to do even 1/100th of the maneuvers players are capable of. I'd suggest that its for the best leaping into the deep end and having to fight for your success from the beginning. There is also the argument to consider that if you play too many bot games it will destroy your game sense for tracking players, as it'll become accustomed to tracking the bot movements.
Yeah true since AI might go wack like in tutorial some bots would just vault a window or pallet non stop and even drop pallets if I am not even near. Also I would go to the deep end if I plan to play Ghost face or Legion but some killers bit more difficult to practice like Blight since requires the player to figure out where to bounce off and where to try and land a hit because some Aim killers are hard to learn but that might just be me since takes me a while to get used to aiming. It is true with the being accustomed to bots if you relay on their exact movements too long but I just wanna learn how to use the power then the tracking mind game which cant mind game bots really.
