When Skill Based Matchmaking is implemented you will be matched with players around your own skill.
For killers this means that each of your characters will have individual skill levels so you will be matched with survivors on that basis, for example if you are bad at Pig but amazing with Nurse, you will face stronger survivors as Nurse and weaker ones with Pig.
There's no individual ranking for survivors as they are effectively just skins as there's no power change etc.
Ranks will effectively be meaningless then because ranks pretty much only show time played as opposed to actual skill level.
We have not made the information public on how the skill of a player is assessed there are some pretty complex algorithms on this and this is information that has been decided to remain hidden for the time being at least - I do not know if it will be explained further in the future.

as far as I'm aware achievements will still be possible, as we've said we will also be giving Rank Rewards based on the highest rank that you are when it resets...as everyone will be reset to rank 20.
