  • I'm not talking about that. I'm wondering what the OP is talking about.

  • How does second wind activate? You need to be hooked for it to activate.

  • Well once the BP gain is buffed accordingly then it stops being a reason. It's not yet at that point, so it's still a valid reason.

Ideally the DC addon loss should be the same for both though once BP gain is equalized.

  • Well it's an extension of how killers never die. Survivors can retain their item and add on if they live, but most the time they don't and just die.

Hence why killers can only use an add on once, period. And it's gone after.

I don't think it needs adjusting, even with DCs in the equation. Killers get way, way more blood points per game. So it's not that imbalanced.

  • Yeah it's definitely a latency issue. Hopefully BHVR figures out how to do netcode properly some day.

  • Tell me then where exactly are all the safe pallets?

The only safe pallets on the map are in the inner room with the long rectangle obstacle in the middle and two pallets spawning on each end. That's the only thing coming close to a safe pallet.

  • Even just adding more trees all arond the map (Sheltered Woods amiright?) would help immensely, at least we'd have something to use against chainsaw happy Leatherface, Billy and Nurse.

Map is a nightmare for Survivors there's nothing to help you survive. No juke spots, barely any pallets, no buildings, no windows. Just got to rely on sneaking around, which isn't really reliable.

I'm talking about the map's potential: A high amount of safe pallets (there are also a lot of unsafe ones, I don't care about these) + insane loop potential with Balanced Landing + really big distances between the gens which make patrolling very hard.

This is a rational look at the map. A lot of survivors aren't used to the map yet, so you can still have easy games as killer.

Also I don't get why you instantly want to bring the discussion to a personal level with this "try harder" thing.

While the map may be easy simply because Survivors aren't used to it yet, I'd like to point out that the map does not have a high amount of safe pallets. There are only like two safe pallets in the entire map, and they are both in one room.

All the other pallets are not safe.

Long story short: BHVR is terrible on netcode but survival main call it "power of dedicated server"

  • Sheltered Woods just needs a rework. This map is terrible.

I like that it's dark, but stealth generally doesn't work against good killers or those with the right perks and build, so it's pointless.

  • Hawkins totem spots are easy to find. Most of them are along the edge of the maps.

There are like 4-5 spots in the center of the map, with two of them being on the third floor or on a balcony railing.

Most people just aren't used to the map yet. I already have already learned the spawn points because I specialize in totem hunting.

  • A lot of survivors don't cleanse so when the "idiot teammate" cleanses and Plague gets her Corrupt Purge they get "one shot."

It's a shame these people don't know better and keep arguing "no cleanse" is the only way to beat Plague.

  • @Cetren said:

Because killer is the reactionary role. You go to where they are. All four people on one side of the map? If the killer never goes over there, the game will literally never end. Where does the killer patrol? Where they hear the survivor's repairs. When the killer chases you, you choose where to go, they HAVE to follow. (if they want to catch you that is, which they must eventually do in order to win.)

As the reactionary role, they need the information, and as a survivor, you really don't!

Edit: As for names, you can choose what it is and change it pretty much anytime, so it doesn't seem like an issue for me.

It's the other way around. Survivors are the Reactionary Role.

If a killer camps a gen, survivors can't go to it and must go somewhere else. The killer is a deadly presence to be respected. Survivors must play around the killer or die.

The game requires 4 survivors to match up to 1 killer. No single survivor can deal with the killer. The Killer is not the Reactionary Role. The Killer is the Power Role.

Then who cares? Do you believe that a PUBLIC ONLINE GAME, should not be PUBLIC? Because that is what i'm getting.

If you are going to play an online game, then don't be surprised that usernames will be used.

(While I cannot confirm this, but due to personal experiences, I VERY RARELY get "sniped", or get tunneled/camped because I played with someone last game.)

If it's so public maybe the survivors should also be able to publicly see the Killer's username in the lobby, no? No need to see the killer himself. Just the username.

    See how you like that.

  • Yeah, I don't get it? Why are they doing such fine work for free. I mean I reserve my insulting services only to those who pay me to do it. Don't work for free people or people won't value your contributions to society.

  • There are three main ways to do No Mither. Stealth, Gen Jockey or Dumbass

    Stealth Build:

    * No Mither, Iron Will, Urban Evasion, then either Bond or Spine Chill

    Gen Jockey:

    * No Mither, Resilience, Prove Thyself, then either Bond or Spine Chill (Spine Chill preferred)

    Dumb Ass Build:

    * No Mither, Tenacity, Unbreakable, then either Flip Flop or DS

  • Who knows, but I've set mine on Private so I don't have to bother dealing with this nonsense.

  • Looping is like riding a bicycle. You don't forget.

If you can't loop now I'm doubtful you were able to loop decently a few months ago. Nothing has changed since then to the looping game, except maybe a slight buff for survivors due to dedicated server latency being passed on to killers.

If you want to get better at looping there's nothing to be done but keep practicing. Learn the proper theory -- there are videos on YouTube that can explain it better than I can. Learn what a safe palette is and how to make use of it, as well as other various safe spots (windows basically). Then after you learn to run them it's just a matter of putting it into practice on maps and learning how to chain them together -- which is a lot harder and will take a lot of time to really master.

I main spirit and I assure you I destroy SWF with her in rank 1. After nurse nerf she is only one that can deal with them

What! Impossible. The game is survivor-sided, haven't you heard? It's impossible you can't possibly be destroying SWF at Rank 1 with a killer!

  • This is the main reason I don't use Dead Hard. My ping can't handle it.

  • Those issues aren't confined to consoles.

PC has the exact same problems.

  • I generally don't genrush.

In fact you'll often see me bringing saboteur and Alex's. I like to screw around and have fun in the game.

Every now and then you'll see me bring BNPs. You know why? Because I am likely just using up the gear on the survivor before I prestige.

I still complain about Spirit. Sorry, I just don't like Spirit.

  • @Nikkiwhat said:

Sure, when Gens don't pop so damn fast when you don't constantly harass the Gens.

It's one thing to harass gens. I'm down with that.

It's another when the gens just take forever to repair and the red bar is creeping ever so slowly. Then I screw up my ruin skillcheck and it regresses. Ughhhh!!!

  • I actually proposed during the Ghost Face publicity marketing that Ghost Face should look like a Survivor, and have the ability to change into a Survivor by copying any other Survivor's cosmetics. In this disguise Ghost Face can't attack but can do gens and other survivor-like things other than dropping palettes, but doing so doesn't contribute to gen progress or totem destruction. He also has no terror radius or red stain.

He wouldn't be able to attack in this mode but had to press his power button to take out his mask and robes for a second to put them on before he could attack.

Unfortunately this wasn't the case. But I pushed for the idea again with a "The Thing" killer.

  • Yeah I'll take advantage while they're still whiffin'.

In the meantime let's see those Mad Grit Unrelenting builds!

Try running franklins, has made a huge difference.

    Please don't, I hate Franklins.

Anyway as others have said, you're likely just fighting better survivors now for whatever reason. I suspect Rank Reset has something to do with it even if you're a Rank 1 killer. Survivors didn't get any kind of buff so this is just a matter of the skill level of your opponents changing.

The other big possibility is dedicated servers. The truth is, as the host the Killer has a huge advantage in terms of latency. With Dedicated Servers this advantage is gone and all of a sudden you suffer through the lag that survivors normally have to go through. A few milliseconds of lag might not seem like much but in a game like this it's huge when you're playing for keeps.

  • This is amazing work and data. You sir deserve a medal.

Very interesting how Wraith, Huntress and Myers get more kills than anyone else, but I knew that about Wraith. During the "which killer do you hate most" poll someone else ran a month or so back I voted Wraith and not Spirit.

The reason being that I find myself dying to Wraith a whole lot more. Wraith players are very savvy and know how to hunt you down and kill you. It's very, very, VERY hard to juke a Wraith player. You are going down eventually. Wraiths tend to be campers and tunnelers and this really plays into how most survivors play. They get kills easily despite having the reputation of being a weak killer.

Myers I understand because his snowball potential is huge when he smartly manages his Evil Within. But still shocking to see he took the top spot.

Huntress is as expected. She is strong. And Huntress mains tend to be really good at tracking and aiming.

  • The funny thing about DS. It's nice to have, but when you are forced to use it you know things are bad.

  • It's unfortunate but the truth is online multiplayer games are, you know, best when played with friends. Going solo is fine but online multiplayer exploded in popularity because it's great way to play socially with your friends.

I still remember during my college days when I first started playing in LAN shops, before the advent of online. LAN Parties made everything so fun and amazing. There is nothing like playing with your friends.

  • Which is perfectly reasonable, because if you stumble upon the scene it looks like a murder scene with a guy holding a bloody knife in his hand. The guy with the knife being the body blocker!

A perfectly reasonable assumption. But prone to error, of course.

I'm a nea main and i can't count how many games i've only gotten points in boldness because i constantly run the killer away from other people going for selfish unsafe unhooks and such. Having bond really is a curse sometimes. That said I too will expose locker frauds when there are only 2 of us left and they just crawl from locker to locker waiting for me to get found and killed so they can hatch escape. Only time I ever do anything selfish as survivor, since they're just legitimately trying to sell me out at that point.

Not saying all Nea mains are bad. But Nea has a reputation similar to Claudette and it didn't happen for no reason. As a person who started off with Dwight and has been using Bond for ages I can tell you over hundreds (or maybe even thousands) of matches that Neas and Claudettes are far more likely to crabwalk stealthily around the map and immerse than any other survivor.

Again, this is not an all-encompassing rule and I've also been with many Nea mains who saved my butt and looped the killer all game round. Just had a game like that last night where we finished 4 gens before the Nea went down. We all got out in that one.

I've had teammates bodyblock for literally no reason, or pallet slam me. Using cynicism to assume it never happens for no reason is a bit much, and I'll easily admit it doesn't happen often, definitely. Not enough to warrant removing it for sure.

Also a bit strange how you admit to doing something you can be reported for though I've never known what the punishment is for repeated abuse of a function. Granted, if you did it to scum bags, it's earned. If I see someone blocking a teammate though, I'll focus them before who they blocked, if it was obviously intentional. Never assume either way. However, a referee can only really call what he sees.

But if I'm bodyblocked? I just report and move on. It's frustrating but not really something to freak out over. Not fun sure and against the rules.

I think if you do it enough you'll be banned. I don't do it enough, maybe I've done it maybe 5 times my entire playtime of DBD. I've only done it to scum who either farm their teammates or just hide in corners the entire game letting their team die, and I only do it when I am in a particularly nasty mood (which isn't very often).

It's not something to praise but I think sometimes it's nice to get back at the scum who just aren't playing as a team.

Sometimes people do mess with other survivors for literally no reason.

When playing survivor I typically try to repair the mid generator at the start of the game to split all remaining generators up increasing the chances of survival even though it usually results in an early game chase for me.

There was that Dwight however who followed me and started vault-spamming the window next to me. I still commited to the generator.

During chases he tried to block pallets and stuff as well. Due to my experience with griefers I knew how to play around him but at 1 remaining generator neither he nor the other survivor did anything so I decided to just give up and repair a generator while injured against a Ghostface. Basically a free down.

After getting myself killed I watched the Dwight and realized he was trying to communicate with the killer by tbagging the hatch and pointing to the hook as in "hook me so the other survivor comes for the rescue. Then kill them and give me the hatch".

Luckily the Ghostface decided to just kill the other survivor AND the Dwight.

That Dwight was a devotion 3 player btw. I thought it was some kind of a newbie-troll. Kinda unexpected.

Long story short: SOME people really do bodyblock and stuff for absolutely no reason. I'm as useful as a teammate can be and I still run into (bad word) every now and then.

Well, I'll give you that. Come to think of it I have had some people grief me for no real reason.

Anyway, I don't know what the story is with the OP here so I'll withhold judgement.

Just saying that there's an outpouring of killer hate for the bodyblocker here, but it's possible that the Meg was bodyblocking because the Nea was just hiding all game.

  • Is it just me? I'm not having a problem with toxicity. Nobody is sending toxic messages in chat.

There is a rare exception maybe once every twenty game where someone will say something not so nice, like taunting the killer after chat for camping. It is not common. Maybe Asians aren't as Toxic as other parts of the world?

  • @Ryuhi said:

far less useless than a lot of other perks, tbh. I mean, compare it to No One Left Behind or Slippery Meat. I'll wait.

Slippery Meat is a lot better than the new MoM. Though it needs a little luck.

  • It really depends.

If the killer is camping, gens are more important. If the killer isn't playing all sweaty, teammates are more important.

Also, if the hooked guy is on the other side of the map it is almost never the optimal play to save them. You simply waste too much time running around. The problem is either your other two teammates are also on your end of the map, or don't really know how to prioritize properly and let the teammate die on hook.

Let me make it very clear: 3v1 is significantly harder for survivors than 4v1. If a killer gets a pick before you finish a single gen you are usually going to lose badly. But finishing 1 gen and still having 4 teammates alive is still a pretty even match.

So teammates are definitely more valuable when not considering killer camping behavior.

  • Then I guess it's better to just delete them from the game. They are not fine for the game as they are right now.

Working on 2nd Hook is a clear nerf but at least it's a much fairer game. There might be a better way to adjust them, personally I think the Mori should be adjusted to work on 2nd Hook but give a massive Bloodpoint bonus or something.

Moris still get around things like Decisive Strike, so it's not completely useless.

  • I think people in North America tend to have really good internet, so P2P is better for them in most cases. In other regions internet infrastructure is not so good and can be country-to-country: so the connections in P2P tend to be worse. Like in Europe, one player might be in London another in Munich, I'd imagine the connectivity would be worse compared to one guy who was in New York and another in New Jersey. In Asia it's the same I usually play with people from Thailand, Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia. The P2P is awful.

Whereas with Dedicated Servers we see a marked improvement over P2P.

  • @MisterCremaster said:

What are you guys defining as sweaty killers? I think the definition is a bit variable on here... Some people seem to think its just killers going hard for the 4k, others that are trying to make the game not fun for people (by going for 4k?)

Sweaty killers in my book are those who just use all the most unfun builds and perks and playstyles addons to win. They don't care about anything other than getting that 4K. Or they just run builds and playstyles that are spiteful.

Like you get a Spirit who camps and tunnels and equips Franklins Demise, or a Huntress who runs Iri Hatchet and Ebony Mori, or an IF Slug Nurse. Lots of them actually. But sometimes it's not the build. It's really in how they play. Sweaty killers go for optimal unfun plays just to secure the victory -- like tunnel camping the first survivor to reduce the match count for an easier match.

  • How much more do you want it slowed down? It's slow enough as it is. 23 seconds is HUGE in this game.

Gentapping is fine and Ruin doesn't need to be any stronger than it already is.

  • @harry14141414 said:

I know that at some point in time DEVS said its not an exploit neither its a reportable thing

but is it really fair to keep this thing in the game ?

Ruin is already a very RNG based perk and I personally think it DOES not stand for more than 1 gen or even less !!! 90 % of the times.

this game is evolving in a very astonishing way thanks to the devs and all the hard work with dlc's and events.. silly things such tapping should not stay in this game IMO.

stay safe in the FOG ladies and gents <3

What's the problem? Gentapping is slow.

Ruin is working just as intended.

  • Personally I don't find Tombstone that OP. It's powerful, yes, but has some severe downsides to it that make it manageable. On the whole it's fun and it's not unfair because you have ample time to genrush before he powers up, and if he isn't using Tuft you can still evade him while waiting for T3 to run out.

body blocking lags as well for survivors

Disconnecting issues are much worse as well.

People dying on hook for hitting struggle TOO fast, like the server seems to reject the fast actions, and because of lag.

There's 100+ issues. Too many to list. How are there not enough issues known to take them down and get them fixed instead of torturing us with them?

Oh actually this is a good point.

I am not 100% but I think the rash of DC's I get -- where the killer is DC'ing not the survivors -- is a result of dedicated servers. But I am not 100% sure that it's DS to blame for it.

Other than that Dedicated Servers haven't had any bad effect on me.

As I wrote above, neither should Freddy ignore BT nor should he be visible all the time with OoO.

However, seeing the Survivor with OoO is not really helpful in a chase. Remember see-though Coldwind Walls? They were bad for the Killer, but not bad for the Survivor. In order to loop, the Survivor has to mirror the Killers Movement. It does not work the other way round.

Yeah I have to admit, seeing the killer during a chase is usually advantage survivor for loopers who know what they are doing. As long as you are in a safe spot it will stay safe as the killer can't mindgame you.

Anyway, Freddy's a special killer and I think it's not such a bad thing that he can do some stuff no other killer can do, and is affected by a few things no other killer is.

But apart from those are there any aura reading add ons? Ha ha there are loads.

The only one Lord Glint missed I think is the Pink Legion addon. I forgot the name. It's not an aura-detect addon but it increases his Frenzy Terror Radius to cover the entire map, which is basically telling him where every survivor is once he stabs someone.

  • @LordGlint said:

I typically try hitting T1 madness when other ppl are hitting it, so I can just spend as much of the game in T1 as possible. Can still stealth after that as long as you dont hit T2.

Yeah it's still possible to stealth by avoiding T2 but from my experience it's a losing strategy. It's smarter to shift gears into loop and genrush mode, more likely to survive that way. Of course you can always do personal challenges and stick to stealthing but it's the suboptimal play against Doc. Since Doc isn't particularly strong in the chase genrush/loop is the proper play.

  • @LordGlint said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/763497#Comment_763497

Myers has scratched mirror, vanity mirror mirror shard and Glass fragment, pig has Amanda's letter, Wraith has All seeing blood, Huntress has glowing concoction, Hag has willow wreath and pussy willow catkins, Doc has his restraint addons, Freddy has prototype claw and paint thinner, Plague has Black incense, Ghostface has outdoor security camera and Demogorgon has Leprose Lichen.

As Lord Glint said most killers have detection addons but none of them are as crippling as Doctor's. It's literally unavoidable once you've been electrocuted.

All the other killers you can keep your distance from the killer and you'll be fine (Except for Legion and his Pink addon), or there's some other forms of counterplay. With Doc you can't even hide in lockers. The delusion will still proc.

In my opinion none of the other detection add-ons are "hateable" I even find Scratched Myers enjoyable to go up against unless we're on Lery's.

  • @Rex_Huin said:

Restraint that's it - my mistake its not a brown.

Once you tagged with it you are bothered all game with it. I know you can run though it but its still a pain.

Its almost like the killer having 'Whispers' on you once you are tagged.

    Just my opinion...

Yeah it's also why when I go against Doctor I always turn it into a run and gun match. I don't bother stealthing because I don't know if he is running Restraint or not. So I just assume the worst and just go full loop and genrush mode. And I don't have fun when I'm playing like that, but there's little choice as taking it slow against doc means you lose.

  • The Restraint-class add-ons are a real pain and make it impossible to stealth. Those are probably the #1 reason people hate going against Doctor. It only comes in Yellow, Green and Purple variants though, no brown.

  • Doctor isn't particularly strong but he is the single most annoying killer to go up against, even more than Plague. People always have a bad game against him even if they win. Especially if you're using gen disruption builds.

He's not even about being merciless or fair. He is just annoying to go up against.

1 … 13 14 15 16 17 … 52
