Probably not any time soon.

Generally speaking, probably Doc or Legion.
That said, Julie specifically is my all time favorite. She can do whatever she wants to me.

I disagree. I have played on both and I have felt zero difference. Boosted players are still boosted, good players are still good.
Killer's on console, however, do not have the mechanical skill of their PC friends. They are limited, for some reason, in their sensitivity. However, I have found that console Killers track a lot better than PC. I think they rely on sound more, which explains a lot.
Which is why survivors on PC tend to be better. Because they are used to playing against better killers.
I have a lot of experience on console and the difference between the two platforms is quite noticeable to me.

Not really lol. I have found zero difference in PC and console Survivor's.
Besides, the MM and Ranking system is so screwed up, you cannot really tell. If you were to say there are more boosted Survivor's on console, that would be more accurate.
The level of performance from players is higher on PC.
I didn't realize this until I switched to PC a long time ago.
-
ZubatLeL or Fungoose is probably your best bet.
-
Oh, don't worry I will.
I've always been a gen jockey, but I'll be sure to be extra efficient from now on.
-
I'm genuinely not trying to be rude here, but console and PC are two different animals.
Some of the survivors on PC are on a whole different level.

It really depends on the map and the killer you are playing. If you're playing a big map with smart people that spread out and wait to the last second to save, you better be Nurse or Spirit or you're gonna have a bad time.
Again its like 1/100 games for me so its hardly a metric to balance things from, but yeah, a perfectly optimal group is usually going to win regardless of the killer's skill.
To be more accurate, only Nurse, Spirit, Billy, and Huntress are consistent enough to handle a full team of decent survivors.
And once really good survivors enter the equation, there's not much killers can do aside from using overpowered add-ons and moris.
-
Probably Demo or Oni. They seem to be the most physically menacing.
-
The community has been asking for this a while now.
I have 1000 hours on console, so being able to transfer over the number of bp on my xbox account to PC would be huge for me.
Nearly all my killers on PC are prestige 3 with full builds, but getting that extra boost would let me fully max out my killers and start working on leveling up my survivors.
-
BT is fine imo.

I always loved this quote... Just wait until you get matched with the best of the best... You're not supposed to be able to 4k against the best of the best... You're supposed to get a 2k. Are you always going to get a 2k against optimal survivors, no. But guess what, sometimes your even going to 4k against optimal survivors.
You win some and you lose some... It's just how games work.
You don't have to be the best of the best. I'm not talking about god tier loopers.
I'm talking about survivors who know how to play smart. Survivors who may not be god tier loopers but can loop decently. Survivors who stay spread out and don't get slugged easily.
That's all you need to do really. On some maps, it's even easier for survivors.
Fyi, if you did get matched with god tier survivors, a 2k is unlikely unless they goof around. Most of the time all 4 survivors will be alive when the 5th gen is done.
-
Just wait till you get matched with optimal survivors.

I love how they balance everything around low rank, but when it comes to Nurse, they talk about high rank.
Classic dev hypocrisy.

She's pretty pitiful in her current state. Extremely rare to see a Nurse now and when I do she gets completely destroyed.
You have to be really good to do well with Nurse in high ranks now.
And even then, playing her just isn't satisfying anymore.

Trying to make another killer not viable in red ranks I see.
The only thing that GF needs is a power that isn't buggy (for now).
-
@Masantonio Flashlights are quite common in red ranks. It's not unusual to see one or two flashlights in a match.

I have this screenshot from Peanits about the Nurse's stats improving as players adjust:
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/429/MICCQXXXKCWJ.png
The information about why they made the changes was largely from the Q&A stream in which they addressed questions about the Nurse changes. The question in which they talked about the cooldown specifically and why it was added is at around the 49 minute mark. Here's a link to the stream: https://youtu.be/dmFyEKu2CWc?t=2940
As for the devs thinking her basekit was too powerful, that's an assumption I'm making based on the fact that they decided to nerf it. The statement about them being happy with the changes and how they have turned out was a general impression of mine based on comments like Peanits' one above.
Thanks for the info. The stream was actually a lot more insightful.
Now I understand what their reasoning was for nerfing her basekit. I don't agree with it fully, but at least they provided a decent argument.
If they wanted to give survivors more opportunity to use movement, they could have slightly increased the fatigue and maybe even shortened the lunge a tiny bit. That would give survivors more room to use movement and make the Nurse miss.
A nerf isn't even needed imo. When Nurse lands a hit and goes into fatigue survivors get a speed boost. They're supposed to use that opportunity to gain distance and break line of sight.
Of course, map design is a factor here.
-
Hag gets destroyed by flashlights, so no.
-
@Fibijean said:
I'm not a developer, but until one comes along I think it's fairly safe to say the answer is no. There are a lot of people, including the devs themselves obviously, who felt that Nurse's basekit was too powerful. They have shared their reasons for adding the cooldown in the first place on several occasions, and they have also said that statistically, her performance has been increasing as players have adjusted to the changes. So basically, they stand by their decision and are generally happy with its outcome, based on what I've read of their comments on it since the changes were made.
Do you have screenshots of what the devs said?
Because I would like to see the wording.
Also, they provided us no data that indicated basekit Nurse was a problem to begin with. So we have no idea what that decision was based on.
Many of us Nurse veterans told the devs that the basekit changes were bad and needed to be reverted. Of course, that feedback got ignored.

Indeed there is no way of knowing.....buuuuuuut even if they are devs for a minute, they have 1 minute more dev experience than we do.
Also, imagine in the next 2-3 patches, since you guys believe that killers will get gen rushed to Oblivion, they will buff many more killer powers and perks,in order to balance things out.
Again, let me repeat. Just because they were hired by BHVR doesn't mean they are good at their jobs.
Also, you're basically telling me to hope that the devs have plans in mind to help killers down the road. That's hysterical.
The devs have a shoddy track record, so I don't have much trust in them.
-
@CLAUDETTEINABUSH said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/996317#Comment_996317
Indeed,I understand. But,they still have more hours as devs on a game than all the community put together don't they? I'm pretty sure they know their jobs, and they are doing well.
As for the game mechanics, maybe we could over exaggerate a bit,I don't know. They should have a reason tho. Thanks for commenting!!!!
LOL 😂There's no way of knowing how much time the devs have worked on this game. All that information is private.
Some of those devs could be doing a half-ass job and we wouldn't know.
Although, to be fair, I don't think that's the case.
Like I told you, just because they were hired doesn't mean they will make good decisions.
As far as exaggerating balance, we aren't exaggerating much. Optimal survivors is a balance issue. The devs still have done little about it. Which is why this Ruin change is especially disappointing.
-
Just because these devs got hired by BHVR doesn't mean they are good at their jobs.
DbD is over 3 years old and the devs still have not taken any major actions to address the core problem of optimal survivors. Veteran players have been telling them for years now that optimal survivors are very hard to deal with while playing most killers. In other words, the odds are heavily stacked against the killer (in most cases).
But have the devs taken bold action yet? Nope.
It's not like we're expecting them to fix everything in one update. But you know what? They could have done something like this:
Hey community, we understand there are balance issues in red ranks. As such, we will be steadily reworking the maps to make them more balanced for both sides. Also, we will be looking at SWF to make them less arduous to play against. And finally, we will be adjusting overpowered killer setups that are simply unfair for survivors.
If the devs focused more on things like this ^^^ ,they wouldn't be getting so much heat from the community right now.
Instead, we mostly get band aid fixes that rarely address core issues. And most recently, the devs basically told red rank killer mains, we think the balance of the game is pretty good, so we're nerfing ruin to make it easier for new survivors.
It shouldn't be surprising why a large portion of the community is upset (and rightly so).
-
Yes, both sides are toxic. It's pretty sad actually.
-
Sorry, but these devs have no excuse. They deserve all the criticism they are getting.
If new survivors don't want to deal with Ruin skill checks, they have plenty of options:
Survivors can level up Detective Tapp and get his perk Stake Out. That perk basically lets you bypass Ruin skill checks.
Or, new survivors can use Small Game, which will help them find totems much easier.
Or, survivors can use Tapp's other perk, Detective's Hunch, which reveals totem auras.
OR, bear with me here, survivors can learn to hit Ruin skill checks. It's really not that hard.
.....
I started playing Battlefront 2 over the Holidays. And let me assure you, that game is a lot more casual than DbD. There is no ranking system, which means new players can get matched with veterans.
Do you know what the devs told all the new players on social media?
They basically said: Hang tough when you first start playing. It will be challenging at first, but pretty soon you'll get the hang of it and be able to play with everyone.
And guess what? That's exactly what happened for me. That's the sort of attitude developers should have.
But not these devs. They've shown they are unwilling to admit that optimal survivors are a problem in this game. Instead, we get a nerf to important killer perks like Ruin (which helped to somewhat remedy poor balance).

Talk about entitled killers response. The perk is as stated, fairly useless. No survivor is asking it give a constant get out of jail free type deal, but the wiggle out effect is still almost useless with rare exceptions. Hiding the red outline helps when the hook is right on the other side of a wall, but usually still not enough to wiggle out from a further hook. Sure, killers should be able to hook, but that doesn't mean they should be able to walk past 2 hooks to put you on a 3rd. With the perk it should give you a reliable chance(50/50) on bypassing the first to get to the 2nd hook.
It's not an entitled killer main response. I play both sides in red ranks, so I'm quite familiar with both roles.
And given the poor balance of the game, killers simply cannot afford to have survivors wiggling free easily. Escapes cost the killer too much momentum in a game where every second counts.
Instead of focusing on making the perk anti-hook (which is a bad idea), the devs should rework the perk by giving it a useful new effect. The new perk should be appealing to survivors without upsetting the balance of DbD.
-
If the devs balanced the game more, then every survivor would pretty much always have to be chased a decent amount.
-
Honestly, not having to switch between modes is a huge plus for me.
Once the 3 second delay is addressed, I think Doc will be in pretty good shape.
-
I'm not sold on nerfing BT just yet.
Nerf DS first and see how that plays out.
-
Overwatch is pretty bad.

$11? Sale or base price?
The base price for me was $11.99 on Origin.
I'm sure you can get the game for under 20 bucks on PlayStation. The game has been out since 2017.
Just be aware that Battlefront 2 is a pretty big download. Around 80gb.

Not much of a fan of EA but I suppose I could give it a try someday. I play Overwatch pretty regularly, maybe I just need to play that more. I definitely want to try the new COD soon
I understand not liking EA, but I would give Battlefront 2 a try. I paid 11 dollars for the game and haven't had to pay anything else.
Dice really has made Battlefront 2 pretty awesome.

Then play a competetive game. This isnt that.
I also play battlefront 2. And I also enjoy it. Even when palpatine could hide outside the map. Or boba. Or the glitched saber #########.
Because it's a game.
My argument holds water, because this isnt competetive. It doesnt have to be e sports to be competetive. This is a glorified cat and mouse simulator with horror elements. Period.
As to all the people who cant have fun despite the nonsense, because they wa t a perfectly balanced competetive game: go try something else. I hear civ 6 is pretty well balanced.
Your argument doesn't hold water because your telling all the killers in red ranks to just suck it up. That their legitimate concerns with the game are inconsequential.
I'm sorry but that's a horrible outlook.
And if you played Battlefront 2, then you should understand my point. That game is way more casual than DbD and yet it's more balanced. That's because the devs are better at balancing Battlefront 2.
And by the way, many of us aren't expecting a perfectly balanced game. We just want the devs to do something about optimal survivors, which is a legitimate balance issue.
Do you think the Battlefront 2 devs would allow a particular hero to be incredibly overpowered? Of course not, the community would raise hell and that issue would get addressed.

luckily i'm not one of those people. i want the game to be balanced but that will never happen in an asymmetrical horror game. do you have any ideas on what the effects should be if it was reworked?
No idea honestly. There are probably so many different options.
-
@hysteria said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/993444#Comment_993444
that.. that's what i'm saying. i don't know how it's not obvious. rework the perk completely and give it a new effect.
I'm all for that. But there are some people who want the game to be even more unfun for killers.
-
The purpose of a PTB is mainly to ensure the update is stable.
So what you see in a PTB is most likely what you're going to get in the next update.
As for the devs being receptive to feedback, we now know how they think. The devs are unwilling to admit that optimal survivors in this game are a problem, so that concern gets brushed under the rug.
The devs are receptive to feedback but only to a certain extent. In other words, don't rock the boat sort of thing.
-
Survivors need to understand that they aren't supposed to wiggle free very often. It should take a concerted effort, ie, breaking a hook or a full team body block.
A better solution would be to give the perk a new effect. Something that is useful without denying the killer a hook.
To reiterate, a survivor breaking free from the killer's grasp should be quite rare.
-
@Carpemortum said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/993272#Comment_993272
Because, I play both sides and understand it's not a competetive game.
I enjoy running from the killer, trying to hide and escape.
I also enjoy hunting survivors, acting like a miniboss in their game.
Play it for what it is, and it's rather fun. Playing it to try and be the best of the best in a system that has no actual rank, is silly.
I get some people do like to do that. I usually do as well. But this game has a fluctuating balance and no ranked mode. So getting upset about other people trying hard or not carrying their weight in a game that has no consequence is, as I said, silly and frustrating.
Plus if you do actually do well with poor odds, it feels better knowing it happened because of your intuition, rather than some deep rooted need to have to do well to enjoy the game.
TL;DR : fun =/= winning
Just because DbD isn't an esports game doesn't mean balance is not important. It most certainly is.
I'll give you an example, which is Star Wars Battlefront 2. That game is more casual than DbD. There is no rage quit penalty. There is no ranking system at all. Veteran players can get matched with total noobs.
And yet, the devs still view balance as an important responsibility. Many of the game's elements have been adjusted over the years.
So what you just said holds no water. You're basically saying just try and have fun despite all the nonsense in this game. Sorry, but a lot of people don't want to do that.
We like to start each match knowing that the odds are relatively even.
-
@Carpemortum said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/992654#Comment_992654
Because some people enjoy playing the game. Not trying to win every game, or feel the need to prove they're better than others. Some of us just, get this, it's weird, ENJOY PLAYING THE ######### GAME.
How can you enjoy playing the game when the balance is still poor?
That's basically saying I don't care if the odds are incredibly stacked against me.
And I'm not just saying that from a killer's perspective. Survivors can experience the same thing as well.

I agree bbq is too TOO OP here is how I will change it
Hotfix balance:
Barbecue and chill
- Removed the aura reading from the perk
- reduced the blood points bonus from the perk now the bonus you get is 1%/2%/3% instead of 50%/75/100%
Reason:
we listened to the community requests to many people have unfun matches against the perk so we decided to tone it down a bit to make it more fun to play against

There are a number of really good shows that you haven't watched. They may not fit your preferred style but these shows are amazing:
The Sopranos
The Wire
Deadwood

That's because most people talk about balance in the general discussions sub forum.

Dang, I was going to recommend you an upcoming PC game with a lot of promise.
As for PS4, you might try Star Wars Battlefront 2 (2017). This game has come a long way and is now pretty fun. I got it over the Holidays and was quite impressed by it.
If you have patience, Overwatch 2 is also an option. It's basically a reboot of the very popular Overwatch game.
Other than that, I've heard some good things about Call of Duty Modern Warfare (2019).
-
The devs should just leave Ruin alone. There, problem solved :)
-
I gave up on two challenges. Too much hassle.
-
Kindred for survivors.
BBQ for killers.
