The more I get on the forums the more I understand why the game is in such poor shape. For the last time, to play Billy effectively requires a lot of skill.

Sabotage murdered, MOM murdered, Gen time increase, Gate time increase, better totems spawns on new maps, Hag buffs, Trapper buffs, Wraith buffs, Freddy reworked stronger, Doc reworked stronger, DS reworked, BT tinkered with, Exhaustion changes, BL nerfs, window blocking mechanic, less pallets, less safe loops, doors on Haddonfield on 2nd floor instead of windows, etc.
I'm tired of the same old "Devs never buff Killers and nerf Survivors" argument.
Do any of those changes remedy the core issue with the game?
Nope, didn't think so.
-
Watch how quickly this bug gets fixed. Because you know, it affects survivors.
-
@FireHazard That makes a little more sense. Thanks for clarifying.
I still think the devs are heavily survivor biased because if they weren't, they wouldn't have nerfed Ruin and instead do something about optimal survivors.

I mean that I spent time trying to say how one of the easiest characters to pick up and play, and one that also has the largest amount of utility in one power, is kind of a problem.
I outline how I have come to this conclusion and my own personal struggles against them, and I get dismissed as a salty player. I even say how other killers who have a higher skill floor are currently less rewarding than him.
I even say "I WANT STRONG KILLERS, but I don't think that Hillbilly should rule the game as Nurse or Spirit has before." I don't mind him being good, just not THE best killer in the game.
And I get dismissed, told to try ridiculous challenges, offered no explanation as to why Billy should be stronger than other former top-tier characters.
But no real feedback. Nobody actually considering that I might just have a point based on the comments here. Just people explaining to me things that I already know about how the rating ssytem is wrong and why. Or that what I've observed is wrong simply because one other person hasn't.
I wouldn't use the word salty. Uninformed is more accurate.
As soon as I read the phrase "Billy requires little mechanical skill", I stopped reading because that's all I needed to know from you.
It's common knowledge among veteran players that Billy is one of the few killers who requires a fair amount of mechanical skill to play optimally.

What do you mean?

And when people play more and more survivors the more optimal survivors they get.
It's a problem they shut their eyes to unfortunately.
Yep, which is why I say the devs are biased.

I'm sorry to hear that, personally I don't think they're taking the Survivor side in updates, since a lot of the updates like Ruins nerf was within reason.
I play both sides but i'm a Killer main, playing Survivor against Ruin was like a meme to me, i'd say things like "So... is it ruin this time?" and i'd do this because it was a pretty dominant perk in Red Ranks for the longest time.
I may not agree with all of the changes, but I agree that the perk was heavily used in Red Ranks which made perk builds a lot less... unique I guess.
As for how the game is right now with Killers and Survivors it's hard to say where they lean on the spectrum, they just buffed Doctor and changed a lot of things around to benefit Killers while also helping out with some Survivor issues, so I don't really know personally.
I wouldn't say they're Survivor sided though, since a lot of people say they're Survivor sided and than shift that to Killer sided in a month so...
I have no idea how you even arrived at that conclusion.
A large number of veteran players I know fully acknowledge that optimal survivors are a balance issue in DbD.
Ruin somewhat remedied the poor balance.
And by removing Ruin the devs have effectively said they don't think optimal survivors is a balance issue (despite players with thousands of hours saying otherwise).
So I don't understand how you can think the devs aren't biased?
-
The devs won't admit that optimal survivors are a problem. That's the real issue here.

I stopped reading when you wrote requires no mechanical skill because that is where you are wrong. Hillbilly is next to nurse the only killer which do require any sort of mechanical skill in the game to begin with.
Curving is something you will have to learn for tiles etc.. since you claim it is so easy to do and there is no requirement, i suggest you play now 50 matches in red ranks. You go 4k each game, only use the saw. Record and upload.
Thank you.
Now I don't have to read the post.
-
Honestly?
I would tell this person they have two options.
One: They can master one of the top tier killers and still get some enjoyment out of DbD.
or
Two: Find a new game. Because it's now apparent that the devs are clueless when it comes to balance.
-
I don't feel outplayed as killer when I face survivors that just run from safe pallet to safe pallet.
While it's true that some of them will try and pull off skillful loops, at the end of the day any survivor can just throw down a safe pallet, which forces the killer to break it.
-
I haven't met a single Nurse main that enjoys fatigue plus a cool down.
The devs took away a lot of Nurse's potential, which is why people aren't playing her as much anymore.
-
The devs do not care about the killer experience in red ranks.
That much is obvious.
-
I'm sure a number of them replaced DbD with a new game.
-
Perhaps a modest increase would be acceptable.
Mostly, I want the devs to shrink big maps and remove a number of safe pallets from each map.
-
Agreed.
It was a nice change of pace having to use juking skills.
-
I'll probably just play a lot more survivor from now on.
-
The survivors got their way again.
Why should we expect anything less?
-
The devs basically showed how out of touch they are with the community.
-
The devs are out of touch with the community. That's all there is to it.
They aren't even hiding it anymore.
-
I would be somewhat somber because I've invested a lot of time into DbD, but at the same time I would think to myself: "You know, the devs had it coming with how they've treated the game and the player base. Now I can hopefully move onto to a new game with a bright future."
-
Because unfortunately baby survivors are allowed into red ranks.

You can go watch plenty of rank 1 survivors and killers play with a controller. Brother cope / liltinyplane comes to mind. I personally play survivor with a controller and killer with a mouse and keyboard, because it's way more comfortable to hold X all game then hold M1 all game as survivor. I feel like it's easier to 360 on a controller as well.
You should watch Vooshy play survivor. He can do some really incredible things as survivor.
I didn't realize just how valuable a M&K was until I saw him play.
Again, like I said, M&K has superior movement.
And FYI, Brother Cope has said himself personally that he is a very average player.
-
Yes, PC players will have an advantage.
I've played on both platforms, and a M&K is much better than a controller.
-
@Peanits said:
Yes and no, in my opinion.
A survivor on a controller is no different from a survivor on a keyboard and mouse. They can both do the same things, precision isn't a factor, it's purely a matter of preference.
Killer on a controller is a little more difficult than killer on a keyboard and mouse, though, since precision is a factor at times (e.g. Huntress).
That said, since you're going up against the same level of survivors regardless, I can't see the harm in mixing the two.
Precision is a factor for survivor when it comes to M&K vs controller.
A M&K can make sharper turns than a controller.
Ex: With M&K you can do a very quick 180 to try and dodge Billy's chainsaw if he is curving around a loop. You can't react fast enough with a controller on the other hand.
I've actually seen a survivor 180 a really skilled Billy with Doom Engravings.
This precise movement from a M&K is helpful when trying to dodge hatchets as well.
The point is M&K survivors with fast reactions will have an advantage over controller players by virtue of a mouse and keyboard being superior hardware.
-
I can appreciate what you're trying to do here, but I still think the devs deserve all the criticism they are getting.
-
Be sure to let me know what grade you get :)
-
I'm pretty hyped for an upcoming game called Diabotical (PC exclusive).
The devs are quake veterans, which means this game could potentially be a revival of arena first person shooters.
But right now I am enjoying Star Wars Battlefront 2 (2017). The game has come a long way and is now pretty darn fun.
-
This is probably the worst game I have ever played when it comes to updates.
So no, other games are not worse.
-
Oh look, more feedback that I'm sure the devs will ignore.
-
Nurse will never be viable on console.
You need a mouse to play Nurse properly.
-
Sure, I suppose.
The forums would be even more fun if I could post the memes I wanted to.
-
Devs that actually care.
-
It's just one of those things the devs won't address.

@Spooky13 said:
People are freaking out because the devs are pretty much set on changing Ruin. It was the same with the Nurse basekit changes. They took all feedback regarding it and just silenced it out.
The scary part is I don't think the bad decisions will stop anytime soon.
-
@IronKnight55 said:
I honestly don't like the Ruin changes, but I can see why they did this. It was annoying to face Ruin every game. Also, they might take a look at toolboxes, gens, maps and even buff some killers that might need it. This could be a good thing. Like you said: Ruin was just a Band-Aid fix. Now they can fix what is wrong with this game.
I don't trust the devs one bit lol.
-
1000 hours on console and 1900 hours on PC.
-
It depends on the match.
If I'm dealing with sweaty survivors on a garbage map, then getting stunned by Head On might tilt me somewhat.
I would never leave but I can see how getting stunned would be the final straw for some killers.
So you have to provide context. Is the killer already dealing with a game that is heavily stacked against them? That might explain why some killers disconnect.
-
There are two ways I view this.
One: Not letting poor balance get under your skin is actually good advice. It has helped me to realize that you just have to accept that the devs are terrible when it comes to balance and move on.
Two: Despite not letting the poor balance get to you, it's still important to criticize the devs for not addressing the core issues. These developers need to start acting like real devs and balance the game. Enough is enough.
Point is not letting yourself get enraged over the game is indeed important. But holding the devs accountable for the bad decisions is also important.
-
You spelled Julie wrong.
-
None of the survivors bother me. I treat most of them equally.
Some even get special treatment like being given the hatch😘

I think the chapter releases need to slow down to grant more time for bug fixes. The current patch system isn't working. Bug fixes come every chapter and mid-chapter patch but at the same time more bugs are introduced. We are lucky if we get one or two hotfixes between each major update and those hotfixes only address some game breaking bugs.
It is my belief that trying to keep verson parity between PC and console is partly to blame for this. Consoles have verification processes that patches have to go through before they can be implemented. This is not true for PC.
The Devs should adopt a patching system that bring multiple hotfixes to PC where they can be validated in live gameplay. Take those hotfixes and package them up in a single hotfix for console verification. This is something we see already with companies like DE's Warframe.
I don't see BHVR doing this though. This would break version parity between systems which would limit the wet dream of cross platform play that some are begging for.
It's somewhat sad looking how other games are handled. You look at Last Year with the small Dev team they have and they are pumping out hotfixes and balance changes weekly. Imagine how much better this game could be if the focus was on stability instead of mediocre chapter releases.
Well said my friend.
-
Overall, I think this is a fairly accurate list. Just one change I would make.
Freddy doesn't belong in A tier. Billy, Huntress, and Nurse all have good snowballing potential. Freddy does not. Plus, Freddy's chase potential isn't as reliable as the others in A tier.
-
Goddess Tier:
-
Hag is the most boring killer.
I'd rather play against Billy any day.
-
I'll always be a killer main to the very end.
That said, I play both sides relatively even (sometimes i play killer more sometimes i play survivor more).
-
I read Big Booty Julie at first and got really excited.
Then I realized it was not Julie but instead Jane.
Now I'm depressed 😭
-
This change came at the wrong time.
