Ugh... Ehm.... What?
When did I even mention anything about hooking?
All I listed were perks to combat 4 man slug. (4 down then hook or force bleed out).
No perk I mentioned has anything to do with hooking, besides wglf getting some stacks for BP.
this wasn't meant to be antagonizing. But all 'anti slugging' perks except UB require the killer to hook someone (and the person to get unhooked), or to let people get protection hits in etc.
So yeah, all these perks require that the killer doesn't start out slugging.

Are we all going to ignore the fact that this absolutely did not happen? 7 matches in a row? Definitely not.
it's early morning here and the game is weird. (i know it's very out of the ordinary, but i wouldn't have made the post if not for the massive ######### factor of it. cause. hell, someone slugging at the start usually happens around every 15-30 matches, if one's unlucky. so this was just WHY? HOW?)

That's interesting, because I am Russian and I am getting normal survivor games wherever we are connected now.
In some thread like this people from NA servers were complaining about the same issues.
does all of russia go to european servers or are you guys split over european/asian/north american servers? this might be a west russian thing

Self:
Unbreakable, Soul Guard, Tenacity, No Mither
Team oriented:
WGLF, For The People, Buckle Up, any healing speed buff, Autodidact in case of stacked debuffs (it is a great perk against slugging with use of big debuffs).
General play:
Split up and crawl away from others if downed.
bold of you to assume that so many sluggers actually hook people
-
@Bumbus said:
Which server you are playing on?
european. I'm not saying the issue are russian players, but i think they were all either russian or vpn users...

Given that some killers like Oni/Michael are literally designed around slugging(Oni Literally losing their power when they pick up a survivor and Michael has to maximize his limited number of Tier 3 empowerments)...
Also having perks like knockout/deer stalker that empower slugging...
I doubt the devs will ever change it.
Counterargument: Michael is not that well designed a killer. he's franchise accurate, but gameplaywise not that well designed. and oni suffers from the same issue as a lot of OG killers: he's balanced by his map, so once outside of sanctum of wrath he either becomes overpowered or underpowered, he's not designed around slugging, he's designed around a map that gives survivors a chance to outwit his power to avoid slugging
-
those saying 'use perks':
I'd like you to read that sentence out loud. Then go and ask yourself how you'd react if someone would tell -you- when playing killer that you can just 'use perks' to counter something that's entirely unpredictable or not something that should leave -you- with solving it.
-
agreed, though the thing with nemesis is:
he's a beginner killer. he's more a walking tutorial than anything else, which is... ridiculous, frankly.
But that's what he is. there to show new players the basics, and then have them move on to others.
The chapter would been better had it brought two killers: one like that, and one better fleshed out
-
Naw.
Is it great for RE fans? Sure,
But even if you know the layout, it's just a pain. It's a map that'd be great for a mode with more players, but fir the regular 4:1 matches? nope. even if they'd add a minimap
-
Just a bug. The adjacent tiles didn't load, and the UI loaded incorrectly
-
There's one (1) person on the dev team who know how to sculpt hair. and they apparently been moved to map design
-
a while ago. there was an error that kept killers from entering a certain area
-
The issue is the tunneling etc that's declared 'sometimes necessary and fair' by the devs, and 'a skilled way to win' by some big name streamers.
DS isn't the issue.
It's a bullcrap 'dog eats dogs, every man for himself' mentality. And hey, old DS was often enough used out of exactly that mentality.
But i reckon if the devs would finally stop blowing smoke up some people's behind and do something against that way of playing they'd also have to kick out about 75% of their biggest fogwhisperers
-
I think what they should have done is either
- Make it generally smaller or split it
- introduce a 2:8 mode with it (and have a smaller version for regular matches)
- take a cue form HSH and add teleporters for both sides
-

As someone who's played the map about 50ish times now it's getting much easier to navigate. The map length itself is rather huge though but it's still much shorter than Ormond and Crotus Penn. The two floors does take some getting used to as the stairways are on opposing sides of the map and directly in the middle.
that it's 'shorter' than ormond doesn't matter, as it's so winding. Ormond AT LEAST has a decently clear layout. it's just huge. this map is huge and clustered

I'm a fan of RE, but I still don't see the point in making this maze-like map in DbD.
it does make me think though:
How do Twins fair on it? I've seen people speculate given the twins' power their map woulda been something like the parisian catacombs or such, and this map is pretty akin to it

I like it the way it is imo, Nothing beats Haddonfield Hell for me and this is so true to the remake capcom prob says no
You think haddonfield is WORSE than this?
Look, if you like it for its accuracy, be my guest, but RPD is a map that just... this is about every Haddonfield stapled together and stacked on top of each other, with fences and hedges taller than the killer AND there are no rocks. only fences.

I love hitting struggle on every 1st hook because my team didn't play re2 enough times to learn the layout.
I love not being able to use my power effectively on over half the killers.
I love not being able to prevent a 3gen or hook proxy because the map is 2 segments with 3 lanes
I love every window or pallet being infinites, god tier or useless.
Worst map I've every played in any game, ever. As a lifelong re fan, im taking the dc ban every time.
let's not forget 1 hour matches because no one can find anything
or people bleeding out because they struggled free cause killer couldn't find the way to the hook, and then can't find chests or teammates get knocked down again to again not get hooked even though the killer tries
-
If the license shenanigans are ever cleared up and bhvr gets the license it might easily happen.
(best case would be BOTH dbd and ft13 get license rights and would do crossover stuff)
-
I've seen on another thread that it's a near replica of the map in the re remake, but... damn...
Y'know, by all means, as much as people hate midwich, out of the licensed maps it it at least the most navigable.
Licensed chapter really have this curse of 'faithful but impractical' going

It's not bannable bc you're giving no bp, its bannable because you're not playing. For mass slugging both teams have to actively play the game, while for the killer going afk survivors only have to play.
I wouldn't count the thought 'Ah damn it's a bubba' seconds before you're on the ground bleeding out 'playing'
-
It shares the issue of pretty much all licensed chapters:
It's 'faithful' and fitting to the license, but gameplay wise it's a mess.
-
@NoOneKnowsNova said:
1. What's the point of playing at that point.
2. Yes it is actually bannable if done repeatedly.
you know, I love how
'okay, killer does nothing and let's survivors get the points for Objectives' is bannable, but 'killer slugs everyone at the start of the match, keeping them from getting points in any category' is not.
-
THIS INJUSTICE CANNOT STAND! Give victor his crown
-
look and plan ahead. a lot of survivors run on a mental automode and don't expect you to turn to the side to go around. often they briefly mentally bluescreen when you to and stop running
-
Your mistake is that you say 'chases are the most fun and making killers like slinger is going to hurt the game'
Killers like slinger, twins etc are for people that don't take joy out of chases on either side. they are there to achieve a greater appeal and challenge players to develop various playstyles.
If you have the most fun from chases, good for you. But not everyone does and having killers where the counter is stealth or anything else is not going to hurt the game.
what is going to hurt the game is the insistence that only chases are fun and trying to force that onto other players and the devs (because we'll end up with more tricksters who could have had an interesting ability if the devs would not have listened to those saying only chases are fun)
-
Naw. It's ego.
Nothing more, even though with how bloated it is in each case it might look like it
-
Noted. Also: do both get a crown or only charlotte?

Capcom already got their money, bud. DBD hit it's all time peak at the day the chapter released and probably tons of people bought it that same day. They probably don't give a crap anymore.
good thing that's not how licenses like this work.
It's not a one time purchase for bhvr. they have to renew it on a regular basis and that will only work if the game makes enough money in capcom's eyes.

Yes or maybe they just skip the explaining part of "why you run these perks / how to play this build" and just equip it and go :D
and the result is chaos.
I'd really love for people recommending builds to give good explanations for them and not just go 'use this'
-
@Chocolate_Cosmos said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2317853#Comment_2317853
I mean they can still use some of these perks to their advantage even when playing in such way.
Also, it is no suprise people using perks in a bad way or with very little value.
I can remember I recently faced Nemesis with Tinkerer that only chased me for like 4 gens or something. What a value of a perk lol :D
I've been wondering if the reason might be 'hey, this build got recommended' without much explanation to what it does and how to run it best.
-
@Chocolate_Cosmos said:
Damn... using strong perks on a Killer that helps him a lot with good add-ons? Wow, how dare you. All these killers using strong things on them shouldn't use powerfull perks and items like the other Survivors that run perks like Wake Up, Buckle Up, No exhaustion perks, No insta-shield med-kits, No BT's in front of the killer, etc.
And omg don't you dare try to camp someone, that's also againts rules too.
please read the post again.
This is about people who play in a way that gives them NO value out of the perks and addons.
-
@SadLegion said:
Because perks doesnt cover his main weakness that is low gen pressure? So against decent teams he has to slug/camp/tunnel at some point. Also why im i even answering, this is just another "i hate deathslinger" topic by the sound of it.
I'm a slinger main.
On that note: i found the best approach to decent teams is to keep them busy otherwise: sloppy + thana, spike and barbwire or thorns
-
@Gorgamungus said:
Not every killer tunnels or camps. I use Deathslinger with M&A and sometimes STBFL and try and not tunnel/camp; plus I almost never use addons. I think your just annoyed that sometimes people play super try-hard. That goes for all Killers and all Survivors.
oh, this wasn't to say everyone does this. (heck, i'm a slinger main myself (if the game would decently work at least) using none of the above)
it just is very weird each time i see it, and it's not uncommon.
It's similar to trapper with a definite basement build who never goes near the basement
-
@FrenziedRoach said:
I have a better question, it's a legit tactic... so why do you care?
If it gets them the results they want, then it doesn't matter what you or anybody else thinks.
This post wasn't to criticise whether or not this is a legit tactic, it just feels... weird to see.
Like, the best answer I can find it that they saw the build recommended by someone, but without an explanation as to why it works.
-
giving their trackrecord:
- Fixed the glitch that allowed players to break up linked cosmetics (9 times a charm)
- fixed an issue with a floating stone in a corner of yamaoka family estate
-
Depends on the killer.
A lot of people will tell you to use ruin or corrupt (see above) but these last only as long.
Depending on what killer you play the best way is to look what they can do.
For example: forget M&A, stbfl and reload addons on deathslinger. Thana + Spike and Barb Wire can be a blessing, one cause people don't expect that on slinger, and two cause it buys you some time to move around the map.
With plague a lot of people call for the use of addons to boost corrupt purge, but if you got a decent memory it makes more sense to use addons that increase the infection duration on object and the effectiveness, allowing you to mark gens and patrol those blocked by intervention and maybe tremors
tremors is in general a decent perk

Have you ever payed attention to Ormond spawns ? They're utter trash. And that map is utter trash to boot on top of your hex is almost guarenteed to be gone in 30 seconds
yeah, ormond is trash, but it's BIG. are you really willing to traverse THAT map for totems?
-
The issue is simple:
Spawnpoint on older maps (read that everything pre-hag) suffer from being added rather haphazardly to the older maps. When only hag had totems she could easily defend them with traps on these, but then you got more killers with hex perks that did not have that ability.
Let's be honest:
Swamp has nasty spawnpoints, red forest is decent-ish, lery's is obnoxious, yamaoka has spawnpoints i've seen killers being surprised about (in the 'hey, I think my totem bugged out, i had its aura but couldn't find it' sense), ormond is big enough to protect totems and glenvale has some nasty hidden spots (woodpile anyone?)
But every maps that came before hag suffers from ludicrous spawnpoints
-
*yawns gently*
Oh, is it time again for the regular 'these killers are unfun because they don't cater to people who take the most fun out of chases and are averse towards all killers that add some variety to the roster' post? seems so.

Okay, thanks for that.
granted, it's from last week, (current week it's not in the top ten) but still. with how many people bought it and were excited, this could go very awry if the devs don't find and fix the issues before the event

Yes the second you open the game the playtime start. So lets say you like the opening and watch the opening over and over again then this will count in your playtime.
this was sarcasm. cause the issues start long before the 2h mark
-

exactly.
like, I hate the idea of crunch in gamedevelopment, but we are at the point were it is necessary for the game. Event's set to start in a few and the game is unplayable to a lot of people.

A chapter where we just get a bonus map for already existing realms (we could use more maps for Red Forest, Ormond, and Grave of Glenvale) would be great as well.
Yeah, but you can't really have Map Chapters, cause maps oughta be available to everyone.
Thus the idea of Chapters that add to the existing characters, including an expansion of their map-pool (aka you'd unlock new abilities for the characters you couldn't get otherwise, and get a new map for everyone)
Heck, you could even tie new maps into the new powers/perks somehow
-
@MadLordJack said:
The particle effects are definitely a huge culprit, especially the fog itself. The asset they're using could be low-res (I really hope it is) and it would still eat up processing power. The sparks, impact, blood and various sprays (that are hopefully just hi-res assets and not looped physics assets, I've seen that happen before) should really be toned down and, above all, the code needs seriously cleaned up becuase that's where we're getting a lot of CPU usage from.
Given the behavior of blood, sparks etc, and lately nemesis' whip and the blue stuff on the survivor models, i would say it's looped 50% asset the other 50%.
this game feels like the devs just throw stuff at the wall and don't wait to see what sticks

reading comprehension really is an issue in your country, innit?
Okay, let's break it down:
The TITLE concerns the general idea for something that could be done AFTER the much needed health patches.
It is and IDEA for CHAPTERS AFTER the much needed health PATCHES.
