Controversial, I know, but I really don't mind Freddy as a killer! I mean, he's very "all or nothing" in terms of kills etc, but the perk that shuts off the exit gates when a survivor is hooked after they're opened? Man, when it works its brilliant! It's just a shame it is so situational.

What are your feelings on the Springwood level?

Its one of my favorite maps.

Most of the generators spawn around the school so you'll only have to guard on one side of the map. Its pretty good if you don't consistently chase survivors.

Good old Goo. He's selling merch with that on it now.

    lol good for him.

Least he can take a joke.

  • Nightmare on Elm Street.

It's the only reason I main Freddy.

You misunderstand what I am suggesting. I simply am saying that after every Prestige level, the killer gains a level in their respected power starting at "Power level 1" at Prestige 0.

When a killer prestige's to level 1, the power they wield also grows in strength. This would progress accordingly with prestige 2, and finally prestige 3 unlocking their true power.

Which is a bad idea. Why should I level a killer 200+ times so I can have a chance at higher ranks?

Regardless of wearing the cosmetics or not, this would give a new purpose to people playing a killer they really enjoy, and would make prestige more useful than simply unlocking skins or finding better items slightly more often. This would make someone who truly mains a specific killer that much more dangerous than someone who simply plays a little bit of everything, and would encourage long term play.

Some players can't afford to play a long time. There are some killers and survivors alike that don't even prestige. You'll just be punishing those that don't prestige.

This could also be applied to survivors and their starting perks, or even at each prestige level as they could gain micro perks applicable only to them. Special things that would further distinguish them from the other survivors and make them unique.

Survivors aren't unique though. Not compared to killers. They all play the exact same way.

You know, there's nothing wrong with expanding the gameplay. To shun an idea because it would make it "too broken against new players" is keeping a shallow mind and being shortsighted. New players are going to be destroyed against a Prestige 3 player as it is, and they will learn with experience and as they level up, and they will also get better at surviving. Just as we all did.

Sorry I thought this was a public forum meant to discuss ideas.

P3 doesn't mean 'skill' it just shows how much time you've invested into this game.

So instead of shooting down ideas you don't like, how about being constructive to the game. This was actually a good idea and many people I've mentioned this to agree. It also fits with the lore, how fulfilling the wishes of the Entity will grant the individual it's favor.

People think my idea is fantastic why don't you?

Maybe because I disagree with it? As is my right as an individual?

Are you really that triggered a stranger on the internet didn't like an idea you've presented? ######### kek.

I wouldn't expect a brand new player to spawn in with Prestige 3 all perks without working for it, would you? How fair would that be? Likewise, if they start a trial and end up playing against a killer who is Prestige 3 with all perks, played for thousands of hours, how far do you think a new player will actually get anyways? They don't know that running wild will leave a trail of scratch marks, and leading a killer to your allies will get them killed as well. That's something they learn from playing. You can't just expect to cater to them in a survival horror game. It comes with the territory. If you play the role of "Survivor", you might end up getting killed a few times.

I never said we should cater to new players.

I said it'll be unfair for them. It already is when they ether face a survivor team or killer with every perk in the game. It shouldn't be more so.

@Mc_Harty but when im stealth i dont get points for chase and sometimes points from saves because in my rank 14 killers are almost every time close to hooked
and idc about rank because i dont have much time play and when im rank 9 or less then rank reset comes

Hey man, you asked for alternatives to pallet looping.

Shame that stealth doesn't reward you much Blood Points though.

  • @fml said:
do you know any other options?
if yes i would like to know them as i said im not very good at this game so you can only help me

You can stealth as best as you can or complete the generators as fast as you can.

You could also use the pallets as chase breakers to make it easier for you to break line of sight and hide (though this is only recommended if you have perks that make it easier to hide, like Urban Evasion).

  • Pallet looping should still be option, just not the strongest option.

  • Technical drawbacks.

Besides Quentin and Laurie are practically high schoolers.

  • Laurie and I would probably get along just for our desire to stab things.

Another aspect we have to account for is that any forum for any game is only one side of the situation in terms of complaints and being unhappy. World of Warcraft forums for example are generally filled with the same thoughts and mentalities I've seen on Reddit and elsewhere.

Not that the thoughts aren't right or valid, just that it can be easy to see the doom and gloom sometimes and feel that no one enjoys their experience, where in fact there's a silent majority that seems fine with it.

My takeaway here is, sure, listen to feedback and opinions on the forums, it's important. But don't make them the only voices for the community.

    Couldn't agree more.

  • Anything that affects the charge time of your power is more effective by Tinker.

Running Tinkerer should decreases the time it sets your traps

  • Can we copyright strike the Entity?

Sends a legion of thirsty teenagers against a survivor of your choosing. Has 50/75/100% of not backfiring and making you look bad in the trial.

    Good money...

In the old system, survivors were ranking easily, while killers struggled to. Now both sides have it hard to rank up.

And if you do there are barely any lobbies.

The new system is better, but with the barren wasteland that is Dead by Daylight matchmaking and nothing to help encourage the players to rank up, I much rather the old BP value system for both sides just so I can find games.

  • @MonitorZero said:
Besides longer and longer que times and most of the appeal of this game is kinda like pubg where you should just be able to drop in and play. No one likes waiting for a lobby.

This is probably the number 1 reason I avoid high ranks now.

Before it was fine since you could get lobbies immediately. Now when I play high rank survivor the lobbies are barren or have red ping.

Its the same on the killer side. I'm rank 10 atm and the lobbies are a pain unless I'm facing SWF groups. I hate waiting for lobbies for 10 minutes when they're over in half that time.

    However back on topic.

Gen-rushing does exist in some form. You'll typical see it when survivors are using items, perks or add-ons to help repair generators faster.

However it wouldn't be that much of a problem if pallets were not so effective at wasting the killers time. Why are the most played killers at high ranks Hillbilly and Nurse? Because of their mobility.

These killers are valued so heavily in chasing survivors where the other killers suffer. And if it they chose to abandon a chase, these killers are the least punished in doing so.

I would’ve much preferred if they’d gone with something like The Butcher since that represents his role in the Sawyer family.

I agree with you. Inside the game's lore, "The Cannibal" is a strange nickname, no survivor saw him eating human flesh. "The Butcher" would fit much better.

If we're going with lore logic, 'Wraith' also doesn't fit.

Should have been 'Reaper' instead since he saw to his victims deaths, even if it was indirectly.

  • @Penny said:
Mc_Harty, i think that this is not enoght because people can repair gens infront of freddy, thats the big issue, well just my opinion

Agreed but the issue with Freddy is that he has a very restrictive play style that counters him. He's similar to the Nurse in that way.

    You can't stealth a Freddy and you can't pallet-loop a Nurse.

  • I hate the farm maps with a passion. Those walls make it impossible to trick the survivors.

Favorites are The Game and Badham.

  • The only thing Freddy needs is his 16 meter heartbeat back and an ability to slow the survivors down while they are in the Dream Transition.

It would make him so much more bearable.

  • I can hide better as a Ace wearing a suit with a P3 head then Claudette any day.

  • @FujinRaijin said:
My vote to fixing this is credited to Tru3ta1ent. His idea was that after being hooked, the survivor gains a debuff to their generator repair speed, making it actually better for you in general to try to focus multiple people and not camp.

If the survivors take longer repairing the generators after the first one is hooked it'll just reward camping more.

Camping is difficult to address in this game. Sometimes its valid if the survivors swarm the hook other times its not.

  • Killer perk;

    Live Bait

When a survivor unhooks another survivor and you are 36/30/24 meters away from the hook, the rescuers aura is revealed to you for 3 seconds.

The beast delights in their scream, knowing more will come.

    Survivor perk;

    Intuition

Your connection to the Entity is greater compared to the other survivors. At the start of the match, the killers aura is revealed to you for 4/6/8 seconds. This does not trump any of the killer stealth abilities.

These winds carry voices. Time will tell if they'll help me.

  • Ever been hit with a pallet?

    Hurts like ######### man.

  • Having Prestige affect your killers is an awful idea. Their powers shouldn't be affected by cosmetics.

You prestige for to invest more time into the game not for a advantage over others. It'll be broken against newer players.

  • Isn't that already an option?

  • Calm Spirit should be buffed to 100%

Even then, the perk is useless until the devs increase the number of crows on the maps.

  • I'm depressed I can't get lobbies at high ranks. :'(

  • Pink but its not an option :'( .

  • Btw @mods my post in this forums seems to have duplicate and I have no way to delete it. >_<

If you ranked up then you didn't lose.

According to you, not the game.

You can win directly by going after a particular playstyle. The ranking system awards victory for performance. Get X number of points to pip. That's pretty direct.

Show me where in the game directly inform the player that gathering pips are 'winning'.

Deathgarden and DbD have two different goals in mind of what they consider "victory." It doesn't matter what the player "personal" views as victory, in DbD, victory is getting a pip. Regardless of whether or not you add an additional goal on top of that is irrelevant.

    That's the point.

Your personal views of what is considered a win is a pip. Their are players that see gathering Blood Points as a win or escaping as a win.

How the hell do you not see that? You cannot be that arrogant.

The category Unbroken scores Survivors based on how long they survive or if they escaped without going down or not. That's where I got that info from.

    1 emblem outta 4.

You don't even have to perform well in that category for the game to considered that you have won.

    See how that's a contradiction?

If you complete this game's victory conditions, then you are skilled. Any other arbitrary viewings of the term "skill" are completely subjective. Skilled players rank up. Unskilled ones derank. It's pretty simple.

There is nothing skillful about Get X number of points to pip. You of all people should know that.

Doesn't matter if its Blood Points or Emblems scores.

You're right, in the past Survivor was always awarding those that could clone around the most. Not the case anymore. Seems to hurt a lot of people's feelings.

    Its the same exact system.

The rules and scoring is different but nothing has changed. At all.

Whether or not a tournament has actually been held using the Emblem System is irrelevant. BHVR created it for use in OFFICIAL tournaments, not streamer tournaments.

It's irrelevant to ask for a link to a tournament that uses pips as a measure of success against other players.

What the ######### are you even talking about?

Try staying relevant, you seem to miss the mark a lot in that regard.

    Whatever I guess.

Also only spoiled brats use 'relevant' to dismiss arguments.

If you ranked up then you didn't lose.

According to you, not the game. That's why its indirect with its victory conditions

You can win directly by going after a particular playstyle. The ranking system awards victory for performance. Get X number of points to pip. That's pretty direct.

No where does the game tell you directly that ranking up is 'winning'. That was my point. It's implied that ranking up is winning but not confirmed.

There are killers and survivors alike that don't value pipping as a measure of success in a game like this. I guess they're playing the game wrong then lol.

Deathgarden and DbD have two different goals in mind of what they consider "victory." It doesn't matter what the player "personal" views as victory, in DbD, victory is getting a pip. Regardless of whether or not you add an additional goal on top of that is irrelevant.

Deathgarden directly tells the player how to win. Kill 3 Runners, Escape with 3 runners.

Dead by Daylight does not. It tells the killer to try their best and measures their performance. Same with survivors.

This makes the win conditions by default abstract. How do you not understand this?

The category Unbroken scores Survivors based on how long they survive or if they escaped without going down or not. That's where I got that info from.

1 Emblem category out of 4.

A survivor can perform poorly in that category yet do well in the others.

A survivor does not have to survive to rank up. Sorry to destroy that fantasy buddy.

If you complete this game's victory conditions, then you are skilled. Any other arbitrary viewings of the term "skill" are completely subjective. Skilled players rank up. Unskilled ones derank. It's pretty simple.

If its that simple, please point to where the game had stated to you, as a player, that gathering pips, is the direct win condition of the game.

Ranks only signify playtime and experience in a game like this. Everyone that ranks up knows this.

This wasn't a argument about 'skill' but how Dead by Daylight has abstract ruling of winning. I have no idea how you can't see that considering you boosted that you're a good survivor that doesn't loop immediately implying that those that do are bad.

Because everyone plays like you right? Gimme a ######### break.

You're right, in the past Survivor was always awarding those that could clone around the most. Not the case anymore. Seems to hurt a lot of people's feelings.

It's the same now. Gather enough points to rank up. Doesn't matter if its Blood Points or Emblem values, its still the same system.

Whether or not a tournament has actually been held using the Emblem System is irrelevant. BHVR created it for use in OFFICIAL tournaments, not streamer tournaments.

So it shouldn't be that difficult for you to show me a tournament which the win conditions are ranking up.
Not escapes, not how many Blood Points you've earned, but by simply ranking up.

Since that is clearly the only win condition that matters according to you.

I look forward for the link.

Try staying relevant, you seem to miss the mark a lot in that regard.

Try to prove to me that the game directly tells you ranking up is winning.

Get a mod or a Dev to confirm it, I don't care. Until then you're just presenting you're opinion as fact.

If any killer should be allowed to teleport, it's freddy. I'm not sure how the Nurse teleporting makes sense.

Nurse was introduced as a way for killers to counter infinities.

Also her entire gimmick is a ghostly presence. Makes sense since ghost in films have a tendency to appear and disappear.

    For example;

  • Yeah high rank lobbies are terrible with this new ranking system.

Can't get any games as a killer and all of the ones I've joined as survivor have red ping.

As the profile picture implies I absolutely love the doc changes they made, he used to be one of the worst killers in the game and now he can really hold his own. My least favorite thing would be the wraith changes, he feels really clunky with the new speed curve.

I don't know what you mean by "hold his own"...Doc is OP if you ask me, playing against him is a nightmare and with him is a breeze.

I think people really overestimate him. He is really good but, still gets destroyed by longer loops. Bigger maps give him a large disadvantage. Being slow while in treatment mode is a real pain in a chase. Playing against him is a real pain though, he knocks stealth out of the water and you really just have to buy as much time as possible. I think he is strong but his annoyance factor makes people think he is way better then he actually is.

Doctor has the best tools for a 3 gen set-up.

That's probably where the annoyance comes from. I could never understood why some players find him annoying personal.

  • The real question that needs to be asked.

  • Seen it work against a lag-switcher.

He got banned and had to use an alt account to play the game.

He probably got banned on that too.

  • My most favorite were the removal of infinities.

My least favorite were the Freddy nerfs.

  • @weirdkid5 said:
In pretty much any video game, when you "rank up," you must meet the victory conditions to do so. In no game can you lose and rank up.

In this one you can apparently. Did you forget?

This means that this game grades you on more than just survival and more than just killing, which it does.

'You didn't succeed your role therefore have a pip to accommodate for all the work you've done.'

So its not a direct victory condition then. Its an abstract one.

Victory can be seen as "Pleasing the Entity," given by Killer win screens.

There are 4 victory conditions by 'Pleasing the Entity'. You can't have 4 based victory conditions on one side of a asymmetrical game such as this and say that's direct.

Look at Death Garden. Its victory conditions are direct. Kill 3 runners. In Dead by Daylight it's Kill as many as possible.

Hell there are some players that don't even use this as a rule and go for Blood points instead.

They are attempting to entertain the Entity, whereas Survivors are ranked based on their ability to survive and complete objectives, and generally being an asset to the team.

This games ranks are not based on their ability to survive lol.

I have no idea where you gathered that information from..

This means this game's victory conditions are different than most games. You "win" when you complete enough of what you need to do to pip up.

So its not ######### direct at all.

'Do enough of what you need to do to rank up'

Not, 'play as skilled as you can' or 'win enough matches'

Just do whatever and rank up. Did you even proof read this?

They've made this clear with the Emblem System, Survival and Killing isn't the main goal anymore.

    Only for the killer side.

It never was for survivor. You know, the role you bragged about not looping?

    Such an accomplishment.

It's how you perform. Whether you agree with this or not is irrelevant, this is a fact of the Ranking System, especially since it was designed to be used in Tournaments.

    Lol tournaments?

That's your reasoning that the ranking system is a direct win/lose condition?

    Which tournaments?

In Tydes tournaments they use a point system not rank to measure victories against the teams. Guess points are used as a a factor of winning now.

Hell there was one tournament I saw which looked at how many survivors escaped the match. There is currently no tournament to my knowledge that looks at ranking up as a win condition.

    So once again.

    Try harder.

  • I was wondering when you'll show up.

    Papa Bless.

  • @weirdkid5 said:

There is a direct win/lose condition. It's called pipping and depipping. Have you tried playing the game? If so, just because you don't recognize it as a win/lose condition doesn't mean one doesn't exist.

That defines ranking not victory conditions.

Survivors can rank even if they live or die.

Killers can rank even if they barely get 1 kill.

Pipping does not equate to performance or winning. It shows how much time you've played in the game.

    Try harder.

  • @weirdkid5 said:

Hence why I said "looping in its current form." Sorry we are arguing semantics here, but it's pretty petty.

And I can waste the time of a killer for 3 minutes and never loop a single time. It's called being good at the game.

Imagine bragging about being good at a game with no direct win/lose conditions.

    It's embarrassing.

    And he calls me petty.

  • I normally run No Mither with Leader and Resilience.

The generators get completed so quickly its become my kink.

I don't use it otherwise since you'll always be a target.

  • The devs have stated that the survivors use the same animations to save time in production.

I don't think the survivors are that unique compared to the killers anyway.

  • I would safely assume so.
