He is not overpowered but he is too easy for all the things he offers. I don't think he should be necessarily nerfed, they just need to increase his difficulty somehow.

IMO Freddy is just a solo que destroyer tbh. A good swf has a chance (like usual) but yeah, that man is WAY too easy to play. Most of the time I see people kill themsleves on hook against a Freddy (I don't blame them) and the Freddy brags how good he is... mmm

  • A filipino survivor. We hardly get any representation in any media or video game :(

  • Golden chainsaw: Trickster. The deathslinger's is 2nd hehe

    Dull machete: Pig :(

  • I've recently been playing Twins more, but I wanted to know if there's any good strategies or builds for them?

Also playing Victor on console is stressful when the fps decides to drop out of nowhere rip...

  • Would you consider dbd worth it on the newer gen? I play dbd on the xbox one S and I'm considering on buying either the new xbox or ps5, but if the performance Is the same then I'll reconsider it.

  • If you play SWF a lot then I'd say yes! Head on is easily one of my favorite perks and it has saved my friends from going down in a chase plenty of times! :)

He reminds me of some of the best, creepiest villains from anime.

They usually tend to be very flamboyant.

    Yeah, I noticed that too!

I love this killer. He's got a great style and seems like a fun power, but best of all is he's upsetting so many problematic and toxic players. If he can get them to quit playing, he's immediately the hero of the game.

You do have a point lol

His lore is actually terrifying because it’s realistic. Somebody like Freddy Krueger isn’t scary because you know you’d never encounter anything like him in real life. Ji-Woon is somebody that could murder you or your family members. He’s just a legit psychopath who gets off on torturing people and hearing them scream in pain. That to me, is a lot scarier in itself than anything any of the current killer roster bring to the table.

I love horrors but they don’t scare me. What scares me are the nut jobs walking around in the world that could do something unspeakable to somebody I love. That’s who Ji-Woon represents. Real horror.

    Yup! I agree, 100% with you! :D

Horror is subjective. I personally don't find it scary either, but that doesn't mean someone else doesn't. I guarantee someone finds it scary.

Just because you or I don't like it, doesn't mean we can say the game is dying, or that they should be ashamed because they didn't put in what you or I would've wanted. That's not how it works.

I agree. I dislike it when people start having a meltdown or having nonsense arguments when their exceptions aren't met. We needed variety and this was it. Quite refreshing honestly.

  • I love this chapter! I wouldn't consider his design as "goofy" but rather charismatic... He is a lot more child-like compared to other killers and his lore and him losing his marbles fits with his flashy design. Not to mention, ASIAN entertainments (usually Korea) use flashy and vibrant colors and clothes. Yes I'm asian before anyone asks lol.

The survivor is also refreshing and for a default skin... it's really good! Her perks are interesting and it's nice to see another exhaustion perk again.

  • HAHA I love the ending to your post

  • Mostly yes... If I'm playing with my good friends then we'll usually have a good time as we're quite optimistic, but solo que... not so fun.

Killer is fun at times until my FPS starts dropping, but it's a mixed bag

  • I don't see the issue. Either way, it's much easier to complete the challenges AND less draining with SWF

  • If you have a buddy, make them run Soul Guard and you use For The People to pick them up. Completed the challenge on first try :)

  • I've always thought that maybe his gun should have a 1 second delay before it can shoot. So when you aim down your sights, the harpoon spike isn't out of the gun yet until a second has passed and then the player has the ability to shoot. This'll make the player try to aim rather than quick-scoping.

Yeah this is a lazy design since its basically a wind-up, but at least it prevents him from *INSTANTLY* shooting you and gives the survivor that extra second to drop the pallet or vault the window.

  • Nope. Concept-wise yes, but the gameplay is just... so weird. The outer part of the map is just awkward and I always get bad rng whenever I play on it.

  • Frustrating.

I love the game, but lately, its hard to play with all these current/recent issues and the decisions the devs have been making. This game really needs a heavy fix from ground-up.

  • Seeing that juicy player account bubble fill up after a match... its so satisfying idkw

    I see.

And does it achieve said effect to where it's effective in higher play?

It's not super effective at high rank play and the chance of a survivor getting downed by it is 1/10 games, but other than being a disruptive feature, it is also great at preventing specific heals such as adrenaline, second wind, etc. If those instant heals occur and the survivor is deep wounded, it will heal the deep wound instead of a health state. That's probably the best thing deep wound is good at tbh.

  • Jane Romero for survivor. I love her design and how she seems unique compared to other female characters. Jane seems not only confident, but also proud of who she is. Giving her a bigger design is representative and just shows how beauty & strength can come in other sizes.

As for killer, the pig... I actually don't like the SAW movies, but for some reason, I feel comfortable playing as her. As a bonus, I get to teabag anyone who was being a booty-hole to me :)

  • I agree. This patch is a big change to the game so its only natural that people will react in such a way. I've played all day with the new patch, and I'm already used to the UI. I understand that people don't like looking at every corner of the screen, but it personally didn't bother me. It shouldn't take more than 3 seconds to understand whats happening at a certain area of the UI.

The new animations does modernize the survivors a bit and I love it. I've played 3k+ hours and didn't make a career out of 360-ing killers so the "oh I can't 360 anymore" argument just flies over my head. Overall, this patch was quite refreshing excluding some of the bugs that made to the live patch.

  • @Im_Tired said:

    I like the new animations

The new HUD has grown on me

    The mangled change is nice

I haven't personally experienced any hitbox issues I haven't seen before

Devs have said it's not so easy to make changes in the time between PTB and pushing to live. Maybe they'll change what so many people are crying about

But if not, it's not the end of the world. Truly, go play something else if these changes bother you so much

Same, I just played all day today both sides and even though it feels weird, the game feels refreshed from my perspective. The new animations are cool too.

  • Yeah I somewhat agree, the wording on the healing part is a bit confusing so people aren't sure whether it applies to healing yourself/others or if it means being healed by somebody else.

Either way, healing usually happens after an unhook so it seems unfair that it may deactivate DS & this just adds another issue for solo que players. The unhooking portion just discourages people to be altruistic and could be unfair if the killer is camping hard.

Personally, I wish they removed the 60 second timer if they were to add this list since it would at least provide some "power" to the survivor. This wouldn't be OP because an injured survivor NOT DOING any productive is practically helping the killer.

If they were to remove the healing and unhooking part of DS then I suppose the 60 second timer can stay, but that's what I think

This would not really a problem, at least not for the Killer. A Survivor not doing anything to be invulnerable is basically the same as a dead Survivor.

Yeah I was about to say the same thing

  • I've always thought Second Wind was a good perk. It saves a lot of time that some don't realize. Getting healed while working on a generator can be a game-changer in a few scenarios. The new buff will just make it even better hehe. 8/10 of a perk from me.

  • Freddy... I can NOT stand that man. Drives me more crazy than the doctor and that's the whole purpose of doctor.

They camp you too? Good to know I'm not alone... If I use that outfit, I have to try extra hard not to be seen because I know I'll be camped, tunneled, or both. I just wanna shake the killer and tell them I'm not even that good! I don't have any meta perks! I'm just a scrub who likes colorful things.

Same. Being sneaky with a bright outfit can be hard sometimes too haha. The pain is real :(((

  • Its fine how it is IMO, I personally run this perk when I play solo for the info it gives. Being chased isn't my favorite thing in the game so having an alert for me is nice. It's not a guaranteed chance that you'll be safe tho as the killer may have a chance to see you leaving the gen or managed to walk right into you as you were heading out. It's a strong perk that does it's job well. 4/5 stars for me.

I mean the audio should have been looked at, edited, adjusted, etc.... so it probably is a bug, I mean it HAS to be because no way did someone hear that and not go "That sounds in line with everything else"

Yeah, I hope they adjust it soon because she's currently my second survivor main right behind Jane and it's sad to see her get some backlash bc of a bug.

Okay, that Shroud of Separation thing is hilarious. I do it on occasion too, just to mess with people. On the other side, I like to bring a broken key with a gold charm and prayer beads, just to see what the killer will do. But all the DCs are disappointing. I get why players don't trust each other, it's just such a pain to deal with, no matter which side you play.

And @mazoobi38 I play a lot of Meg and Nea. I got Nea's super dope Graff-Crafter outfit, was pumped about it. Then I sat there watching killers dodge for like 10 minutes, and when I finally get a match, it's someone with a Mori, Franklin's Demise, and a stack of tryhard add-ons looking to prove something. Part of the reason I hate Leatherface so bad is that they're often the only ones who are willing to play against someone in a fancy outfit, just because they plan on being as nightmarish as possible. One match, I was Graff Nea in a lobby with a Dwelf, and I swear we just sat there shooting ######### in chat for twenty minutes.

Yeah I have that skin too, but I haven't really ran it for a while because killers tend to camp me really hard with it.

But yes... the Bubba thing is so relatable.

  • @Milo said:

Her screams (especially the "be hooked" ones) are WAY louder than rest of the cast.

    I wonder if it's a bug.

I think it's a bug because her hook scream is way too loud for it to be a normal scream on the mic. Unless the VA for Elodie has a naturally loud scream then ohp-

  • Well if you really want a challenge, then I suppose you wait for a "bully swf/squad" to join your lobby. They usually consist of 4 flashlights/toolboxes or a mix of both. Not to mention a Nea is usually in every bully squad. They're very toxic obviously so watch out and get ready for their messages.

Or play as nurse with no perks... that's usually a challenge for most players in this community.

It's funny how you mention that "hint of swf" thing because so many times I'm sitting in a lobby as survivor and all of us are def not grouped, but killers dodge and dodge until we get one of those awful sweaty Bubba/Freddy/Spirits who's cocky and wants to take us down a peg. And all we did was, I dunno, wear nice skins or carry a toolbox. I've actually tested the skin thing. Convinced a lobby to swap to basic survivor clothes, the killers stopped dodging. I'm not that great of a survivor, but if I dress my character up nice, I guess they assume I'm one of those death squad swfs.

Yes I suffer from the same thing. I'd become Lisa (the legendary skin) and all of the sudden I play against 5 sweaty killers in a row telling me that my "swf" sucked even tho I was playing solo. So thats why I tend to play this game when my fiends are on because playing against sweaty and/or toxic killers is a lot easier with people that you can trust.

But like no joke, this one Freddy who brought the "Forever Freddy" build told me that he only brought it because he was afraid of our skins (I was Cybil) and that he hates it when survivors bring fancy skins... so I think killers assume every group is a swf if they're fancy so I'd recommend playing in swf if every killer is going to assume that :D

I don't care what it is, the question was, "how I thought it would be when I first saw it".

And please don't start the argument if it is competitive or casual. It is no game with official competitions (atleast it shouldn't be thanks to so.mich potential rng, thus they often have a bundle of rules and restrictions) but from the pvp setup it is a competitive game per definition.

Edit: sry for the tone but I just had a rather heated argument somewhere else.

Yeah I know because I bought this game thinking it was a "survival horror" until I realized it was more of a cat/mouse game. (like secret neighbor)

PS: I wasn't planning on bringing the competitive/casual argument, Idk where you got that from my friend.

  • @burt0r said:

Well before release I thought this game would be more of a playable horror slasher about survivor trying to hide and not get caught. This was true for the first few months until survivor learned how to play the game the way it is played today. Less hide-and-seek and more catch-me-if-you-can. Crouching and hiding is even frowned upon today, when used as a main Playstile.

Fr, DBD is more of a cat & mouse game rather than an actual horror game. (Though its still classified as one)

  • I don't mind people's preferences, but Its infuriating when people become toxic in a specific build or character that eventually builds up the hate. I remember this moment when my friends and I made a huntress DC (not intentionally) bc I head on her when she WASN'T chasing anyone. We got her the next game as spirit on shelters woods and brought the infamous ruin + undying + stridor while bringing act. and duration add-ons and called us noobs, losers, and that we sucked. Note: 3 of us died while one got hatch.

Though I'm not saying its a "spirit" thing, but I noticed a lot of players who play her are extremely cocky or they have their ego so far up their booty-hole. This applies to bubbas & Freddies too (from our experience). So as of right now, my friends and I (all rank 1 with at least 2000+ hours) are generally sweaty when it comes to spirit, bubba or Freddy because we have a general idea in how they play so we'd rather be safe and be on the "aggressive" side first before they spam us with their hateful messages that tick us off. We never send hate messages unless they do it first.

  • I don't think killer legendary skins are worth it just because of the lack of seeing your own skin compared to survivors. I still think Lisa is the best legendary so far.

  • Decisive strike. Idk but killers want me so badly & I usually get to use it about 7/10 games

  • I personally don't find completing the rift too hard, but the lackluster of "decent" items in the rift makes the rift somewhat grind for me. I don't want to play 5 hours straight just to receive three charms in a row that aren't noticeable. Not to mention so many cosmetics in the rift are re-colors... yes there are new cosmetics, but they roughly make up 15 tiers out of 70. If the rift had better items, then the grind would be worth it. I suggest the devs add perhaps lobby emotes, lobby background items, in-game emotes, etc. to make the rift much better.

  • Spine Chill and Kindred are amazing solo queen perks. (based on my experience)

  • I've found myself liking this exact combo too! I call it the "Loba build". Inspiration from Loba in Apex legends. (If you know, you know). I like to run Appraisal + Plunderer's + Ace in the hole + Streetwise and I'm pretty much supplying my team with goodies :)

The build is a lot more fun in swf as I can tell my team to not search chests and tell them where the shop is. (The location where I keep all the items). As for other perk synergies, I found myself running solidarity and autodidact recently. It's an old one, but really fun to use when people keep getting hit left and right.

  • All my survivors are prestiged (at least P1), but all the female survivors are P3 primarily because I play as the gals a lot.

  • @noctis129 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/214679/whats-a-killer-perk-that-you-think-is-underrated

Does the obsession know he has dark devotion on him? After he gets whacked?

Or he doesn't know? And knows after the other survivors run away from him?

The survivor doesn't get a notification, but a good survivor will eventually realize you have it maybe after a few hits on them.

  • @ALostPuppy said:

Ruin/undying/tinkerer/BBQ Freddy with the 2 teleport cooldown add-ons is disgusting. I genuinely think this combo is almost overpowered on Freddy. It's way too good. Freddy uses tinkerer the best imo, idk what people are talking about when they say it's bad on him.

Yes, I agree! Freddy seems to be the best killer for Tinkerer as of right now.

  • Well I hope you're feeling better now, stay safe in the fog <3
