I don't need NOED. So few games get to the end game unless I'm running end game builds.
Gen rush is not a thing. Gens are what survivors have to do. If gen rush is real, then hook rush is too, especially for Billy and Nurse. Get better at pressuring the gens. Don't chase one survivor too long. Herd them by focusing on gens they have started, then changing it up. Don't be predictable.
NOED never works in my groups. 600 BP per pop, I hit totems when I play survivor. Can't tell you the last time NOED actually popped. Wasted perk slot.
If gen rushing wasn't a thing, then games wouldn't be ending after two-three chases. Not sure what kind of survivors you've been getting, but godspeed, I guess

As someone who is new here, I don't know what level of engagement the devs/designers have with the forums.
They check it on occasion, but from what I've seen are mostly told to limit their interactions with the community as much as possible.

The only crutch killers have is NOED, and honestly, it's only a crutch on killers with insta-down powers and Nurse. On Huntress and Legion it's actually a terrible perk since it doesn't work with their power. Everyone else, it's a high risk high reward perk that can be cucked before it's even useable.
In the literal definition sense, I guess you can consider Unrelenting a crutch, but it's a really ######### one, and not really applicable to this discussion.
As for survivors, you've got Adrenaline, BT, Distortion, Poised, and every exhaustion perk. BT before 2.4 was perfectly fine, but making the timer a Deep Wound timer makes it so every killer has to Legion their target to reliably down them (moonwalking lol). Distortion would be fine if it didn't hide scratch marks on top of auras. Adrenaline removes the need to heal, wakes you up, and gives you 150 for 5 seconds; it's also foolproof with how you can pocket it when being carried/on the hook as well as ignoring exhaustion entirely. And what makes Balanced Landing a crutch isn't the speed burst, it's the stagger reduction. That turns a lot of looping spots into infinites if ran correctly (like the entirety of Haddonfield).
Tl;Dr survivors by a landslide. Although killers do have some crutch add-ons (Prayer Beads, anyone?).

I think a direct buff like that would be too much. I think a perk that did it might be okay though.
Killers already have too many perks they need to make up for bad game design. They need baseline buffs at this point.

Really the only things killers need is more time such a an entire rework of the survivor objective system. It should be able to be completed by any number of survivors but should be hard to rushed in the case of sweaty SWF.
I fully agree with this, but I'm trying to find a realistic solution, because BHVR won't touch the objective system at all it seems.
-
@Claudetterface said:
Nurse her addons need a rework/nerf and weaker killers should be buffed to a viable state (base kit improvement like Pig). I think a Hilbilly with 120% movement speed or a Myers with 120% ms would be overkill.
I was tempted to also say don't with Billy, but Myers should be buffed

@ClogWench said:
I don't think a direct buff to killers is the right direction to go in fixing the imbalance in this game.
Honestly, I don't, either. But I can't see any alternative that BHVR would be willing to implement soon (and there are a few better ones).

@peasant there’s no stun mechanic with mom. They don’t even get a speed boost from the sponged hit. It’s like “whiffing” on them basically. Then they get the bt aura so you know their perk(mom) just activated and was used.
I remember a thread where someone tested it and they said you tank the hit. Speed burst and all.

I am not sure but there is no timer that has been specifically stated. So if you use this perk, killers will have a mini freddy effect.
That's the wrong perk, but Flip-Flop also hard-counters slugging, which killers actually need to do to slow the game down in any way. That's the other perk I have a problem with, the third one I just remember reading its effect and thinking it was trash.
EDIT: just saw it was an album of pics, I'm on mobile lol. Yeah, for MoM, just don't heal, who cares. Though it does make it not as useful when you use Adrenaline

Sloppy and ruin are common. I actually see a lot of survivors healing although my current build is the adrenaline rush and don’t heal build.
Sloppy is only good against survivors that aren't like you, but more and more players realize healing is pointless when you can do the strat you use. And yes, Ruin is common, but let's face it: it's way too inconsistent to be considered "good". However, we have absolutely no good stall perks, so Ruin is abused because of that.

For how long? If it's permanent, then that's a bit understandable, but still avoided by just not healing.

Yeah I tested it out as killer against friends it’s not op. I’m on ps4. If you think knowing where a survivor is at all times isn’t a good trade off, or then being injured the rest of the match to avoid aura also isn’t a good trade off you’re wild. That’s a heap of information, and a pretty significant advantage against them if they don’t heal. Like I said not op
Wasn't their aura shown UNTIL they fully healed? Or was I reading the perk wrong?

I see people pointing out that survivors bringing tool boxes, and the like are looking for an easier game, and the irony of them accusing killers of dodging for an easier game. To this I say it's the same as a killer bringing addons. Should I dodge every lobby where I suspect the killer is running strong addons or a mori? Or should I just suck it up and play the damn game? I think just playing the damn game is the better option for both sides. That includes the little bitches that DC all the time.
The problem with your example is the only time any killer can match 4 toolboxes is if it is a 4-5 blink Nurse with a mori on any map not named Lery's or Haddonfield. I do agree quite a few add-ons and moris should be looked at, but there's more stuff survivors have that also needs to be rebalanced.

The one thing that MIGHT make MoM balanced is that, according to someone who experimented with the leaked PS4 perks, it only applies to M1 hits, so Billy, LF, Huntress, and sometimes Plague can bypass it. As for every other killer? Get #########.

I get dodged all the time when there's just 1 item in the lobby or even none and a lot of times it's the killer checking profiles. When I bring something into game it's to use it to get rid of it finally.
SInce usually a killer has Ruin anyways toolboxes get used pretty quickly even with good addons. I'll load into a lobby with an item equipped and if I see 1 or more unequip it and then 10 seconds still get dodged.
If I don't join with an item equipped then equip one I get dodged even if I'm the only one with one. So yes it is a cherry picked lobby situation most of the time and not it's not because they'res multiple items.
You've got Franklins, Lightborn, ShadowBorn, can pick your killer etc and yes you should be able to see the items but profiles shouldn't be viewable.
Wait, how is Shadowborn considered a counter to items? I can see Franklin's and, in the case of flashlights, Lightborn, but Shadowborn?

Moonwalking doesn't you're going down within 30 seconds tops and stop relying on Ruin then, you'll be a better player. The same is true for Noed, Sloppy, Thanatobia etc if you want to say stop using x.
Ruin is far from a crutch. Sloppy does nothing now that nobody heals. Thana is even more of a joke.

I just bring Franklin's and lol my way through the game or if I'm feeling extra spicy I play Spirit, go Tinkerer, Bitter Murmur, M&A, and If I had it Discordance. but since I don't BBQ for the points or go Rancor for the mind games.
Trust me, BBQ is already a better choice than Discordance. Smart survivors won't be on the same gen until the end, so you get like one or two uses against good survivors with Discordance max.
-
Yeah, I'm just gonna ignore this one.....
-
I know survivors have gone around lately making sure they kill themselves on the hook and/or DC so the killer can't possibly get Iri Devout. I guess this is the same concept.
Part of why I uninstalled. Despite how ######### the devs are, the community is just as bad, and is willing to take advantage of anything to make the other side have a bad time.
-
At this point, I hate every map in the game not named Blood Lodge as Huntress. Map design is actually that atrocious for killers.
Also Father Campbell's is the best killer map in the game, it's the only one that's close to being balanced (though any survivor with BL or Lithe will cuck you here hard)
-
Gen rush. This is by far the best way to punish camping. Depending on how long it took the killer to catch said survivor, you could possibly get the rest of the gens done before the person dies on the hook, leading to an easy 3-man escape.
Or, if you have BT, you could try to do a coordinated hook bomb, but that's if you're greedy for altruism.

Maybe we are playing freddy wrong then.
Can you upload a bit of your gameplay and show us how to compete with a competent SWF? That would be nice for us worse freddies such that we can learn from you @DudeDelicious
I can actually oblige on help with Freddy.
Me, How's It Hanging (the best Freddy I've ever seen) and Croque made a Freddy guide for the sole purpose of showing people he's nowhere near as bad as everyone thinks he is. Said guide can be found here: steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1628612661
As for videos against good swf, Hanging's YouTube is probably the best place for that. I have a few good videos as well, but they're a bit old (I haven't streamed in ages due to IRL issues).

I want Dracula. Just a 115 ms killer whose power is teleport to any gen, but on a 30-40 second cool down. Nothing more, nothing less. That would honestly be so damn sick.

I agree with your loss assessment. Personally, I rarely get less than a 2k, even at rank 1. I doubt I go up against less SWFs than you, as I don't dodge lobbies unless the ping on multiple survivors is red.
I don't want in game voice comms and I disagree with you that this is the only way to close the gap between SWF and solo. Also, if you are reading the posts between the the OP and now, you'll see I also stated once the gap is much less, there may need to be more tweaks to the survivor/killer balance.
I don't dodge. I've been rank 1 so many times that back when we at rank 1 were waiting 20-30 minutes for a lobby, I'd do college schoolwork while waiting for games. I've played rank 1 on both sides for multiple seasons, I even hit rank 1 this season with the ######### emblem system as killer, but a few bad games has dropped my rank to high 3-mid 2.
I would hate vc as well in the game, but I don't see how else you can close the gap between swf and solo. Because the biggest problem with solo is most solo players are just bad. I've been in swfs before where we purposely don't use voice comms and we still wreck killers. Don't know how else I can say that most solo players need to git gud.
-
Solidarity doesn't affect Freddy more or less than it affects any other killer. Neither do any of the new survivor perks. Hell, Infectious Fright is actually one of his best perks, so this chapter was actually decent for him.
Freddy actually is far from the worst killer now because everyone else is being indirectly nerfed harder than he is. Just git gud with him and you'll beat most survivors.

u dont get I'm saying the add-on benefits you situationly now, not just a free complete counter to a perk.
Survivors have perks that counter a killer's power (DH for Nurse, Small Game for Trapper, Calm Spirit for Doc, etc). I think killers can have some counters.

What do you consider a loss?
You can give buffs to solos in the form of information that SWF already has without adding much benefit to them.
0-1k is a loss. 2k is a draw. 3k and 4k are wins.
The only solo buff you can give that doesn't buff swf is giving survivors in-game vc with each other. That's it.
Anything other than that will buff swf even more. Balance around swf and implement in-game vc.

So for example, you would say the exhaustion nerf is not a buff to killer gameplay? The DS nerf? The Brand New Part nerf?
The first and last buffs were implemented in 2.1, which was the best patch and when the most people were playing DBD. The DS nerf was all killers got this patch, and even then it's still ridiculously powerful in the endgame.
@Red_Beard said:

I play both roles. In killer vs 4 solo, yes I find it easier for the killer. In killer vs 4 SWF, I give the advantage to SWF but the gap is much less than it used to be.
There are two types of killers in this thread. Those that think the game is balanced when they can 4k most of the time. The other are those that feel the game is balanced at 2k.
The thread started because the OP was frustrated with solo survivor. I don't agree with their specific points made, but I do agree solo survivor is a lot more frustrating than killer.
I feel, many of the recent changes that have closed the balance gap between SWF and killer have widened the balance gap between 4 solo and killer.
Some of us have been giving suggestions about how to make this game better for everyone, others just care about one side.
I've lost games as both survivor and killer where I know I just got outplayed because the person would actually be really smart and/or really good at looping. But most of my losses as killer lately have been me trying anything I possibly can to just slow the damn game down and failing because of map design and gen times. Solo queue only sucks because most survivors are terrible at the game, that's pretty much all there is to it. Keep buffing solo, and you'll buff swf to ridiculous levels. And NOTHING is more frustrating than being in a situation where your skill/actions don't affect the outcome. For most killers (unless the survivors are terrible and/or you use broken add-ons), that's where DBD is. That's a big problem, and much of why most killers have left.

You get hit with an exhaustion add-on from say, a Huntress hatchet, or a Clown bottle, you have PLENTY of space and time to kill 20 seconds unless you let the Huntress get very close before she hit you with the hatchet. And with every killer but Huntress iirc, they still have to hit you twice after you’re exhausted.
Huntress, Clown, and Doctor are the only 3 killers with exhaustion add-ons. And Huntress is the only one where you damage someone at the same time as applying it, yes.

Something needs to be done. I know one person who kept the game going for over an hour on Haddonfield because he refused to leave when everyone else did. Just went to the Myers house and made sure he didn't get AFK crows.
Hell, he and another group of friends also decided to play hide and seek against a LF on Yamaoka and weren't found for about 40 minutes.
These aren't jokes, survivors can and sometimes will just hold games hostage. Honestly, if you haven't left after about 30 seconds from when a gate opens, the gate should permanently closed.
-
If anything, Adrenaline needs nerfs and Plague needs hard buffs. This is the dumbest suggestion I've seen in a while, even more than buffing Billy.

When survivors ######### up hard and didn't even get 2 gens like total potatoes which is impossible on almost every killer that I play unless they play like they're drunk. Did I "deserve" that 5gen 4k while playing Bubba when survivors throw themselves at my chainsaw? No, it's out of my doing.
It's not like I give hatch a ton of times anyways esp as legion since there's so many DCers. The ppl that stay mostly get the hatch unless they were toxic or in some sweaty streamer-SWF
@MhhBurgers honestly I've learned to ignore powerbats, they're an entitled survivor main that just spreads the hive mind mentality of "you just want ez 4k's" when you bring up legitimate concerns. I suggest you do the same.

I came here with a sarcastic remark originally, but I will admit BP gains as survivor are a joke. And the DCs from every game are also annoying for killers, that's a lot less BP and one less source of emblem points for us as well.
