Threads like this are why survivors are always seen as entitled idiots.
-
These all sound like "logical changes"

Ppl dont realise that its not live its ptb still theres a chance that devs can make a change except legion he will stay there right now no change no buff but the others remember me should be buffed pig needs a tiny buff but balance etc
They don't ever take PTB feedback and implement changes before live. It will take at least a week or two after this patch hits live for anything to change.
-
You would think after the ######### patch known as Legion patch (2.4), they'd have tried to put out a few decent patches, but no. Instead, three more ######### patches. Glorious.
-
They mostly use the PTB as advertising for the next patch. They put out surveys to have players voice their opinions, but I haven't seen any good changes make their way to live patches after receiving PTB feedback immediately since Clown. (Spirit doesn't count because her first week of release she was abysmal)
So in short, there's no real use for the PTB other than to see what BHVR has planned.

You know this has been going on since the game launched, so many players keep posting thread showing if they dont like something they will just uninstall and leave the game.
Here we are though almost three years later with the vast silent majority accepting and adapting to keep playing the game.

As they say you have to break a few eggs to make an omelette.
And yet it's always new people who hit their breaking points, meaning people have actually decided to leave the game for a variety of reasons.
Take a look at the steam charts for this game. Peak player count has plummeted since end of August/beginning of September. When you keep gutting killers, that's what happens: the people who liked playing killer get pissed and go play better games.
Me, I used to love this game. If I didn't, I wouldn't have put 1600+ hours into it. But now, I'm pretty done with getting 7-8 nerfs for every damn buff. We get to close the hatch, yay, but in return, Legion's power is worthless, Pig's endgame potential is destroyed, exit gates are even easier to open, and Remember Me gets destroyed. Why should any killer main be happy about any of these changes?
Also, adapt how exactly? By playing more Nurse and Billy? Because that's what we need, right?
-
You can't. Survivors are in complete control unless they suck.

Other than commenting on future changes and telling everyone to just get out while they can, yeah. Have fun.

Yeah, I agree with this rework. It's still a damn good perk, is applicable against every killer, and isn't too easy to get. Hell, I wouldn't mind if it even worked on hits that took you from healthy to dying with this rework (though if this was also done, making the amount of bodyblock hits you need increased to 3 would probably be for the best). Either way, I've seen this suggestion thrown around quite a bit and I really agree with it.
-
To those comparing Adrenaline to NOED, that comparison would work if killers could prevent it from ever procc'ing by destroying dull totems.
If gen speeds were ever addressed and changed to values that actually give killers time to play the game, then NOED would certainly need a rework/nerf. As it is right now, NOED is the only deterrent from gens being done in 4-5 minutes.
Adrenaline, on the other hand, deletes any pressure the killer has accumulated before said gens are done that quickly. The bonuses it gives (as well as how it literally cannot be cucked like NOED can) are off the charts insane. A full health state of recovery immediately, including picking slugs off the ground and having someone unhooked and fully healed, is absurd and should have been addressed ages ago.
-
The haste part of Adrenaline is perfectly fine with me, but the fact that it heals you a health state is bs. Remove the healing portion and the perk is fine

My biggest problem is if you say something a killer or survivor doesn't like they automatically assume you are a filthy survivor main or a filthy killer main in an argument... Survivor mains have more of a problem with this I have noticed if they even try to argue something they get told to git gud ect ect. Wish more people played both sides and were truly more unbiased.
Exactly. Do I still think more should be done in killer's favor than survivors with the way the game is? Yes. Do I think there's nothing about killers that needs to be looked at? Hell no.
I remember being told Iri Head is fine and stop complaining about it. If I was the real sweaty killer main everyone calls me, I never would admit there are add-ons some killers have that are really bullshit lmao.
I just wish more people were willing to admit that their own side has bullshit things that shouldn't be in the game. And/or reworked/nerfed.
Even if I don't feel Legion at base should have been gutted, at least we don't have to deal with moonwalking and Frank's. Both of those were cancer.

@TheBean said:
The biggest misconception some players have in this game is they feel they won't have fun playing both sides of the game.
It depends on your definition of fun. Some people like M1 simulator and gen rushing, some people like camping/tunneling and ruining a survivor's experience. I for one don't, but I still try to play efficiently as either side.

they do not.
they will simply cheese the down by hitting you with their frenzy 5 times in a row, which is something you can not avoid and that is guaranteed to happen, which makes the whole concept of the killer unfun. THIS needs to be adressed by your rework ideas.
also, reducing the repair speed by 25% while injured is BS against a killer who can put you into the deep wound effect with a single, not avoidable hit that can be a chainattack aswell, putting multiple survivors into it at the same time. these survivors would need to mend AND heal before touching a gen until the killer comes around the corner again and applies the same debuff on them again. the games would literally take forever.
your buff suggestion is only in the legions favor you didnt even waste a thought on the survivors that need to face it.
might i remember you of the time when the devs decided to buff legion? they implemented a mechanic that the deep wound timer that gets applied on injured survivors would be reduced by 10 seconds. guess what? that was way too strong and unfun to play against, so it never made it out of the PTB.
If a Legion is stabbing you 4 times with Frenzy just to down you, then 3-4 gens should be done, or else your team sucks.
Second paragraph, I have no opinion on, so gonna ignore it.
The one time they tried to buff Legion they did the one idea that was heavily broken when paired with two purple add-ons. It could have worked decently if Frank's and/or SWS was nerfed as well, but eh.
You could easily just make mending a healing action and implement the change where the DW timer stops while mending, and those two changes alone would make Legion much more able to be played the way he was intended.
Everyone tunnels hard with him because that's all he can do. And this rework doesn't change that.
-
We aren't talking about it because we know it's to save face on how bad the Legion changes are. They wanted to give something for killers to be distracted with instead of addressing their outrage.
-
@CallMeSpidey said:
Wanna stop buffing Borrowed Time? Stop tunneling.
How about giving killers some incentive to not tunnel? Like, idk, maybe apply a permanent (albeit pretty small) debuff to a hooked survivor for gen repair speed only? Maybe then you'd see less tunneling, because right now, getting rid of someone ASAP is by far the most efficient way to play.
-
Not gonna lie, it's more that the higher ups force these kinds of changes down the throats of QA team and the devs pretty much have no say otherwise. Either way, there are at least one or two devs who actually don't deserve the hate they get, but unfortunately work for ######### bosses.

What most ppl seem to be missing in all this is we have yet to see his reworked addons and how that'll affect his gameplay. There'll doubtless be many playstyles that can be utilised similar to other killers.
I'd guess it'll take a few weeks for people on both sides to figure things out once it goes live then qol stuff can be done afterwards. By the time it goes live the MOM issues should probably be addressed or a better timeline will come out.
A killer requiring add-ons to be playable is not a good killer. That's a weak killer. One that is too inconsistent to be taken seriously.
-
2.1
The patch that brought sweeping killer buffs that were so much needed. Hag became a non-joke, Trapper became less of a joke, STBFL and Sloppy became damn good, and Bitter Murmur became decent/good. It was the first patch that I felt balance was going in the right direction and that DBD's future was bright. Boy, how wrong I was.

They're providing offerings to the entity to sway it's decisions in their favour. It fits with the lore, it's a good gameplay mechanic and the survivors are still dropped into one of the killers realms regardless. Plus most of the realms have multiple maps, so it's not like it's a fine tuned choice.
Besides, killers have just as much influence over maps. If you want a certain map, use an offering.
Except survivors have the advantage on every map except for Father Campbell's (unless it's a specific killer they're up against, like Nurse or Jag on Gideon). Especially when using a Strode Realty Key guarantees the worst map to ever be made for any multiplayer game ever.
-
Why are survivors allowed to choose a map via map offering anyways? Isn't the point of the game to be dropped in a KILLER's realm and try to escape THEIR realm?
Also, instead of a map ban feature can we please just rework maps to not be complete garbage balance-wise? The only decent map left for killers in general is Father Campbell's, and even then one BL can change that.

its only powerful at end-game and then again, this perk is really weak if you play any of the good killers and some bad ones, the 3 at the start are good counters/good enough killers/Perks
1.hillbilly
2.nurse
3.legion
4.Huntress
5.Trapper
6.Devour Hope
7.NoEd
8.Haunted Grounds
9.Myers
10.leatherface
These all counter it because Legion will get 3 hooks at the same time you get 3 tokens, hillbilly with instadown, myers with instadown, Trappers traps will not affect mettle of man,
Nurse practically ignores it
The rest is self explanatory
- Agreed
- She's bugged, she eventually will be countered by MoM
- Agreed
- Agreed
- If the survivors you're facing aren't trash, then your traps will always be disarmed, so no. But he kinda has a counter.
- Hex perk, so it'll be cleansed in the first two minutes max
- Kinda agree, but doesn't stop it from proccing for an injured survivor
- If they notice a totem doing nothing, they won't cleanse.
- Kinda, but same as NOED
- Good luck hitting the chainsaw, more falls in the same category as Myers here.
So yeah, a perk that can only be countered by specific killer powers, specific perks, or add-ons? So killers are now forced to run specific perks even more? Where's our perk that allows us to insta-down the next survivor we hit after hitting three survivors?
-
Without the pause, there's no real downside to hitting a good skill check. And the strength of the perk assumes survivors can't hit great ones.
Ruin might need a slight buff tbh, certainly doesn't need the pause on progression removed.
-
There are so many underrated survivor perks it's not even funny. Literally all perks related to stealth, OoO, Hope, Wake Up, Spine Chill, Resilience, etc.
As for killer, Remember Me and STBFL are really underrated.

High Tier killer and he is the only one (with Bubba and Myers),
who can counter MoM a little bit.
And he is viable in high ranks.
Huntress, not Myers, can counter MoM. Hatchets do not count towards MoM, though I think they're going to change that soon so that every hit affects MoM (which will make a lot of killer mains quit lmao). Myers kinda can counter, but it's very inconsistent and depends on them not being injured in the first place.

It's okay, nobody plays Clown anymore anyways. They didn't add a Clown killer, they added a joke.
-
I don't agree with all of your points, but I remember when patch 2.1 dropped and I felt this game was going in the right direction. Other than the Huntress wind-up add-on nerfs, I felt every change made that patch was for the better (and honestly, just making the wind-up add-ons unable to stack would've been okay with me), even if the Trapper rework still leaves him as a joke. But as you said, vocal minorities on both sides have gotten BHVR to make changes for the worse (NOED 1+ 2 buffs, locker aura blocking, etc.) and it's made the game much more frustrating.
I do wholely agree that you shouldn't be punished for playing a specific way. This is why the emblem system was always a bad idea. They want to make killers and survivors alike play a certain way by making it a ranking requirement instead of giving better incentives in-game to do so (like if you want to promote not tunneling/not camping, give a debuff to gen speeds for any survivor hooked once, that way the killer feels rewarded for spreading out his punishment). And we need to go back to victory cube. 4k should be a double pip, no ifs, ands, or buts. And if you survive as survivor, you should pip unless everyone else dies (which in that case should be black pip).

Lol a certain Fog Whisperer, which all we know, does this exact same thing DCing in the gate and gets blasted for it. Why shouldn’t Tru3 get the same treatment? That’s hypocritical.
Because said other Fog Whisperer does it to bully worse killers, whereas Tru3 is doing it because he actually wants to play the game without waiting 7 years for a match.
There is a big difference.

I don't get it. You're complaining about KILLER perks?
Killers have, apart from camera position (and again color blind people have an extra disadvantage (orange stain when survs are running - believe me, I dont see it.. It all becomes a grey blur...but i can manage by looking for other things ;)), about EVERY advantage in the game!
played 25 killer games (was level 16 once - L20 ever since) - tooooooooooooooooooooooo F easy!
played thousands of surivival games (my personal rank is 258 within 7 months
- never got above survivor Level 8)
Comparing to killers, the only advantage for survivors is they are a majority. This is also a disadvantage for I have met HUNDREDS, IF NOT THOUSANDS, OF CAMPING KILLERS that wouldn't leave a hooke survivor. These killers should fall asleep for 65 seconds!
I'm confused. You're saying killers have the advantage but opened your post in disbelief someone would complain about killer perks?
If you meant to say killers are OP/the power side, I assume your survivor games were as solo?
If so, solo is ######### abysmal because 99% of randoms are actually braindead. I could play Madden/FIFA/literally any other team multiplayer game with preschoolers and I'd have an easier time with teamwork than with DBD randoms. Yes, they're that bad.
And survivor is harder to rank up with than killer because the ranking system basically puts survivors against each other for emblems. Efficient teams all black pip because they don't carry in one or two areas (like altruism and gens) and instead evenly split the workload, which makes everyone safety pip.
So if you're trying to make an argument saying killers are fine, your argument at base is completely flawed.
-
Ruin is the only good stall perk, and it sucks. I used to run it on almost every killer, but now I only use it on Huntress, Leatherface, Trapper, Wraith, Legion, Clown, Plague, and sometimes Myers. Everyone else it's not worth the perk slot or they don't need it.
Complaining about Ruin is rich. And Corrupt Intervention is worse. With the right spawns, survivors will still spawn by non-blocked gens, and said gens can still be rushed.
He must have edited out Thana before I got here, but its buff should have gone through with one caveat: only make it affect gen times. Because having that stack with Sloppy actually would have been cancer. But now it's a ######### joke.
As for any other perks anyone wants to mention:
Dying Light: by the time you tunnel your obsession out of the game, the survivors should already have the gens done. It sucks.
Sloppy Butcher: nobody heals, so who cares. Only a good option on Nurse since healing is actually necessary against her, but that's about it.
PGTW: have fun finding a gen to use it on in 30 seconds consistently. If it was on a counter system, would be a decent solution.
Surveillance: guess what counters it? Go up to the gen, tap it, leave, wait 16 seconds. Only killers that make decent use of it are Nurse, Doc, and maybe Billy.
Discordance: why everyone likes this perk I have no clue, but you get one use from it max against good survivors who realize splitting up on gens is ideal no matter what.
Overcharge: should be baseline for all killers tbh (why can survivors tap a gen to stop its regression after a killer spends time kicking it?), but it's still trash. Hit the skill check and it doesn't do diddly dick.
Any other band-aid fixes to gen rush that I'm missing?

Criticism is one thing, personal attacks another and not acceptable ever.

Hold on now. Spirit is high tier not mid tier
Her power is easily countered by being outsmarted, relies too heavily on sounds, and her cooldown at base is atrocious. Also she's gonna be ######### by MoM once it's not bugged.
Yeah, she's mid-tier at best now.
-
It needs to be one of two things:
1. After you tank the hit, you're permanently broken and/or exhausted. Get rid of its synergy with Adrenaline, insta-heals, and DH.
2. It needs to have a MUCH tougher activation requirement, like 2-3 safe unhooks. Such a great reward for activating a perk needs to have a tough as hell activation condition that can have counterplay against it, or else it's just a broken as ######### perk.
I've been done playing killer because MoM was more like the final straw to me. Unhook invulnerability, exhaustion recovery on hooks, Deliverance punishing you for not tunneling, healing buffs (when advertised as nerfs), slugging nerfs, sabo buffs, locker aura blocking, Distortion, buffs to Prove Thyself and Leader, one overrated killer that we had to beg to be buffed to mid-tier (Spirit) and two killers whose over bloated powers are jokes (Legion and Plague), three terrible maps (Yamaoka, Ormund, and Temple), and now Mettle of Man? I think most of us are just sick of all the bullshit and we decided to pin MoM as the scapegoat responsible for ALL of our frustration instwad of admiting a lot of steps led to our decisions (even if it's a broken POS perk and justifies the outage we've shared so far)

I said it before: Jeff left because a lot of Feedback was non-constructive and or attacking him as a person. He was used as a scapegoat for poor decisions of the design team of which he as a QA dev isn't part of or responsible for.
You and I both know Jeff also antagonized us at KA. He literally told us at one point that we just wanted ez 4k's, just like the entitled survivor mains on these forums.
Idc how much of a scapegoat he was, he still didn't do his job and treated us like trash. I'll drown him in the criticism he deserves
-
I have only had two devs actually show to me they speak and care about the community's wishes. One of them is McLean. The rest of the devs either ignore their playerbase or actively mock us (one we knew at a discord server was very prone to mocking us until he got triggered at us for not liking the new patch and left).
If this is the devs trying their hardest, then everyone minus the two devs I mentioned need to be fired.
-
Survivors if they're coordinated.
Because then you get the most insane No Mither sabo squad ever while also being gods at pumping out solo gens.
They better get good at looping, though, or they're pretty much SOL.
-
@GrootDude said:
@DocOctober I said it numerous times. Is this going to become me explaining legions counters again?
No, because the explanations given are all related to relying on perks and/or powers and/or add-ons that are limited to specific killers.
Huntress, Billy, Legion, Plague, and Leatherface are the only 5 killers whose powers are intended to ignore MoM. Trapper can kinda work around it with traps, but if the survivors are smart, he's not trapping anyone. Pig's dash attack doesn't give MoM counters, but how often does she land a dash attack?
Nurse, Hag, Spirit, and Wraith are bugged at the moment, they'll be affected my MoM consistently soon.
Myers can make it not proc as often but can't completely ignore it (unless he has a tombstone add-on, and nobody can bring in purple/pink add-ons every damn game).
The other three have zero counters at base (Doc, Freddy, Clown) and will be joined by the 4 that ignore it due to bugs (Nurse, Hag, Spirit, Wraith) and the 3 whose powers don't consistently ignore it (Pig, Trapper, Myers). That's 10 killers who don't just ignore MoM's existence, 7 of which are gonna be f*cked over by the perk no matter what.
As for perk "counters", the exposed perks do force healthy survivors into dying immediately, but if they're injured and have MoM proc'd, they sponge the hit. Same with EW3 Myers. Same goes for Redhead's Pinky Finger.
Not only does MoM exacerbate the balance problems between "viable" killers and non-viable killers, but it even cucks the most viable one so damn hard, and it requires zero skill on the survivor's end. Just tank 3 hits and off you go.
The only "downside" to MoM is the aura part. You can easily bypass it by not healing if you escape the chase. Going into dying state after sponging a hit deactivates MoM, meaning after being put into dying state, its one "downside" won't activate.
tl;dr: MoM can't reliably be countered and has almost no drawbacks whatsoever. It's the definition of a broken perk.

They buffed DS because 3 secs is actually 2 secs because the survivor cant move for 1 sec of the stun. And when the killer used enduring the stun basicly never existed.
We were told to use Enduring to counter DS. And when it actually did, survivors complained non-stop. Hmmmmm

I have no problems with MoM, I hope its not nerfed to oblivion. Maybe they could make it so if you fully heal it deactivates and can't be used or gives you a broken status for 30 seconds so you can't heal 99% then take a hit and fully heal. I personally don't believe the perk is that strong, its practically a one use dead hard
It's worse DH if you know how to use DH, but it also requires no active skill on the survivor end. And it is also very flexible in how you can screw over any M1 killer. Combine the two, add a little DS in there, maybe an insta heal. One chase off of a hook could lead to game over because of your second chances.
I've done ######### like this already with MoM builds. No, we're not overreacting. It's actually that broken.

DS needs a buff that makes it so it's availible for all time you're in the dying state after you've been unhooked. so if someone farms you, killer downs you and keeps you down, ds should be availible for more than 1 min, it should be availible for as long as you stay in the dying state, but once you go back to injured, 1 min is ticking
Yeah, no.
This just makes Flip-Flop and Unbreakable completely useless.
And also is way too flexible and way too strong.

Not saying DS buff wasn't fine, but I just love how they can take community feedback on that and not on the strength of their last two killers, especially Plague.
And especially on a perk whose rework was perfectly fine. Reworked DS was a situational perk that was still very strong in the endgame. It was fine.

Every respectable game balances around the best players, why does this one try to balance to some preconceived notion of "what happens in most games"?

@Nickenzie take note that the issue isn't winning or losing but the frustrating nature of the matches and how it is not fun for some people to deal with this many second chances.
2 sacrifices after fighting through 14 second chance perks and two insta-heals is not fun nor is it balanced.
It's been mentioned by many people how the devs cannot balance around a 2k 2e ratio. But I'm sure you'll just disagree so I'll leave it at that.
The matches are becoming more frustrating and less fun. This isn't about burning out and needing to take a break because I pace myself and don't play enough to burn out.
I'm just glad I'm not the only one who feels this way and hopes that the situation changes.

Yes, survivors play like this. Yes, they will abuse MoM like this. Yes, the balance is this bad. I'm not that good of a survivor and this is what's possible with even slight coordination.

My best survivor game was with me, 2 friends in an swf, and a random. No voice comms. We got all gens done and broke all totems to stop his NOED in less than 6 minutes.
The game hasn't gotten any better in terms of balance.
If the survivors are COMPETENT, the killer loses. Period.
