  • Of course you get better at a single killer, but you will never reach "godlike" status unless you play nurse, but thats only my opinion

You're basically asking for a strike.
The last time people tried it, we got threatened of steam account bans. (Yes, not only Dbd)
Tho it was on steam forums, so things might be different here. (I heavily doubt it)

Even the devs themselves suggested on devstream to stop playing killer and either play surivor or play sth else like Civ

Oh and you know sth, this forum acc is not connected to steam at all, so they can even bann you anymore

Civ is not my style, but I ended up trying dirt rally and I really like it so far
It is a frustrating game for sure, but unless like in DBD you can actually improve and get better and its in your hand whether yuo manage the track or whether you crash into a tree, in DBD the win is determined by the survivors sadly

Just because it isnt scary doesnt make it not horror. Kind of weird that statement, but the simple fact it has "monsters" in it still makes it horror.

    Definition from wikipedia:
A horror film is a film that seeks to elicit a physiological reaction, such as an elevated heartbeat, through the use of fear and shocking one’s audiences.+

More specific "survival horror" as a genre in PC games:
Survival horror is a subgenre of video games inspired by horror fiction that focuses on survival of the character as the game tries to frighten **players with either horror graphics or scary ambience. Although combat can be part of the gameplay, the player is made to feel **less in control than in typical action games through limited ammunition, health, speed and vision, or through various obstructions of the player's interaction with the game mechanics. The player is also challenged to find items that unlock the path to new areas and solve puzzles to proceed in the game. Games make use of strong horror themes, like dark maze-like environments and unexpected attacks from enemies.

The only horror moments I had in this game were a no terror radius myers (only once sadly) and playing against a pig when I was able to play with sound.
Beside from that I had a few jump moments when a P3 claudette jumped out of nowwhere and dropped a pallet on me.

Edit: Clearly the bold UI needs some rework^^

The killers r getying stonger every dlc bbq, no one, chainsaws all im saying is campers should be punished somehow if they dont lesve terrious radious even if it is just showing thier outline to others. If u play a swf ur golden but if u r a loner mybe it would help others or even keep people from pulling u off in rrknt of the killer just to get knocked down again...

Cough survivors geting stronger every DLC, DS, deadhard etc etc, but even the addition of pallets would be enough.
If you want to punish killers for camping, then go ahead and do so. Camping means a guaranteed depip for the killer unless there are survivors who throw themselves at the hook. IF you dont do that and just do gens and escape instead, the killer will be screwed

Any forum that has only up, but no downvotes is kinda pathetic in my opinion.
And anyway, if you cant express your "down voting" via the button, there will always be other ways and I prefer simply perssing a button (someone pressing the button under my comment) instead of the pointless trashtalking when someone disagrees with an argument but doesnt provide any counter argument besides from "git gut" or "break the pallet"

I got 70 downvotes in a single day, because i had an unpopular opinion and defended it.
I also got a ton of downvotes when i proposed a change for the hatch, which included the removal of the hatch. People would only read the first phrase of my proposal and instantly downvote. Very mature indeed.

    And thats a good thing.
If the majority is agains your idea, you can simply see it by looking at the votes

It might be bad too show downvotes/upvotes in the profile because some guys think they need to "collect" upvotes, gj facebook btw, but the downvote button by itself causes no issue tbh

I prefer geting an instant downvote after the first phrase instead of a generic "killer main crybaby" comment believe my idea. Leave the comments for the mature guys with rational arguments and give the kids the option to vent their anger with the downvote button

Self-care is really only a big deal against Freddy. Killers have Nurse's Calling and now a new Clown perk to help counter it. Sprint Burst and Decisive Strike, on the other hand, are completely broken, with Decisive Strike being a punch in the face to the killer and Sprint Burst being another get out of jail free card that also hard-counters the abilities of certain killers such as the Pig. Adrenaline isn't that bad, though it can be nasty when an entire SWF group are running it.

Sprint Burst and Decisive Strike absolutely need to be reworked, but I think those are the only truly broken survivor perks.

Selfcare is strong no matter what killer you face, it makes this game a solo-viable and this shouldnt be a thing in my opinion.

Please, killers think literally any viable perk survivors have in their arsenal is OP. There's a guy in another thread here saying frickin' Iron Will is OP for gods sake. Some will never admit it but the truth is they won't be happy until survivors are stripped of all perks. Funny you never hear any survivors complain about bloodlust even though that was never originally in the game and it essentially made any player, no matter their skill level, competent against good survivors.

Why is it used by every survivor then, quite alarming if you ask me...
Two survivors are working at a gen and you come across them:
    SC scenario:
Hit one and "tunnel" him down, if you hit one and then try to get the other one, the first one will simply SC and you lost time overall

    no-SC scenario
Hit one, then go for the next.
The injured guy has now search for another team member to heal him. Unless they play SWF (thats a problem I wont discuss here) it can take ages to find another survivor while trying not to get too close to the killer because of the injure sounds.

Overall, you basically take one survivor out of the game while you chase the second guy. In the first chase this would mean the difference between a 2gen chase and a 3gen chase (assuming experienced survivors)

Now another thing, survivors always cry about tunneling the unhooked guy
    With SC_
There is a injured guy and a healthy one. The injured guy has already advanced hook progress, so he will die sooner on the hook.
If I now let the injured guy go and chase the healthy one, the injured guy will SC in a few seconds and I lost all my pressure while the other guy loops me around
There is literally no reason why you should not tunnel the injured survivor who just got unhooked

I always thought that this is a thing every survivors hates, isnt it? Yes it happens because of SC

    Without SC:
Let the injured guy go away and chase the unhooking survivor. The unhooked guy has to find another survivor now to heal him (will be a bit easier than in the previous scenarion because he saw the other survivors on the hook)
This means that during my chase of the healthy guy I still have the injured guy pressured by seraching another survivor or even the other survivors searching the injured guy.
This pressure might be enough that the killer considers this kind of strategy more effective than tunneling

  • Has anyone collected data about PTB?
Is the level exp requirement a logarithmic curve, linear or whatever? or will it simply flatten at some point and yyou need the same amount of exp for lvl 120 as for lvl 130 e.g.?

  • @Brady said:
All I'm gonna add to is:

I'm that survivor popping those gens quickly cause' I can hit consistent great skill checks while you're off busy fending the 1/2 survivor tryna destroy your hex :) Ruins not effective if you have good survivors. Or one with stake out.

At that point the killer can already go afk in the basement.
We all know what happens if good skillshots are considered a mistake and if survivor actually try to do the objective - looking at depip squad

  • A lot of it has to do with latency.
But then the devs are pretty much incompetent when it comes to hitboxes. They admitted that the killer weapon he uses by M1 does not work via hit box registration. No, instead they had to define a "hitcone" in front of the killer, if you attack with the survivor within that cone, then the weapon is directed towards the survivor and hits him, pathetic isnt it?

And then there are the truck hitboxes in auto haven, but thats a different story^^

rainbow six is a good example, you were able to shoot a guy behind a wall due to the netcode, in DBD we still are in stone age and use P2P, so well.... how is that gonna work out

  • You need to turn up sounds that much that the chase music hurts in your ears. At that volume you are able to hear a lot more and the game is a bit "easier" as killer. Whether you want to go through pain playing a video game, thats another story, and dont forget that the survivor can spamm the explosion noise at any point at the game and if that happens at high volume, well RIP

  • Are you talking about killers or survivors leaving before 5 sec mark?
A killer leaves before the 5 sec mark because he doesnt want to be quickswitched

If you are immediately readied up by the system, how can you organize with your team as survivor or prepare your build against that specific team as killer?

  • @SaltyKiller said:
One of the devs in the Discord talked about wanting to change it so after you attack you can still do things like vaulting, picking up Survivor's, and I assume grabbbing them when they bum rush the hook after getting hit.

I like OP's idea too because that is another counter body blocking and Survivor's generally acting like a douche.

Would be really nice, but you know how survivors would react to it, so its a nope sadly

  • @Judicar said:
In my opinion, I never saw what the big controversy with DS was. It's a one-use perk, once you use it, you're down a perk. Yes, in groups it can be maddening but if you're smart, you dodge the SWF squad that will use it 90% of the time. Like you said, in groups this perk is annoying as **** but as a guy who plays with randoms, I see it usually just once out the four of us unless I get put in with a lobby that is 2-3 man SWF. And before anyone says it, no, I don't use it. I'm not a fan of one and done perks but I do understand why many use it or did. So many killers camp and tunnel now it's almost a guaranteed death sentence if you're the first one to get caught.

Just dodge the DS guy, just dodge the looper they say
So does that mean if a non-obsession DS hits me or if there is no noob in the game, I simply go afk in the basement?
Sure, such strategys might be valid in some games, but if you need to avoid chasing a single survivor because of his overpowerdness, then there is sth wrong in the game

Yes, the 4 man DS games usually happen when you face a toxic SWF, but I avoid every large SWF now and it still happens. All the debate about DS made survivor realize how strong it actually is (in my noob days of survivor I thought its a ######### perk because I sometimes didnt hit the skillcheck and it can onyl be used once), now I see it a lot often, even on low rank since the shrine had DS:...

Oh and btw, talking about myself, I dont care anymore whether I "win" or lose because thats in the hand of the survivor team anyway. But if you use DS, then I will make your life as miserable as possible

My killer is a 11 most of the time i get 2 kills sometime more sometime less but I have fun. Not suppose to win all the time it wouldnt be fun..

Saying that the dr is a little OP clearly exposed your rank 20, sorry to say that.
You might be a survivor at rank 8 atm, but obviouslyt this should not be your true rank if you still think that doc is a little op
I estimate that you are a ~200 hour guy. At that point I had still fun in the game and thougth that I could improve my killer skills a bit, but a few more hours and you will realize

That is what i fear. The devs have made is very clear that they want to push Dead By Daylight into the competitive scene but they have given no consideration into just how broken the fundamental objective is and have not expressed any desire to address that. The killers are getting quality of life buffs that will make their gameplay less frustrating but the core of the game is about as broken as broken can get. The disparity between SWF and Solo queue will further widen with the introduction of a true competitive atmosphere leading to Depip squad levels of cancer everywhere and games that last under 5 minutes. The game is simply not ready for the competitive scene. They need to merge SWF and Solo queue together with the same level of information, buff the killers accordingly and rework the objective.

Exactly, SWF is another thing they have to address before they can even think of going "competitive"

At the top end of the ranks the survivors have the advantage but at the lower end it is the killers.

I am sympathetic but I would rather be challenged as a killer at the top ranks and struggle sometimes to do well rather than know that people that struggle as survivior in the lower ranks are getting competely wrecked.

It is a tough one to sort out!

Impossible? Other games manage it too, maybe not perfect balance but at least a touch of it.... In DBD you cant say so sadly

As a killer main without ruin survivors can get 1-2 gens done so fast you can't do anything. Maybe gen times are the issue? I just think survivor is too easy right now as all they do is rush gens and get out. Plus some killers don't like running ruin because it can be destroyed(totems should hurt survivors or curse them with the hex they destroyed) I don't like running ruin but I might have to because games are too short. But I regard survivor as easy mode :( i'd play survivor if it was a challenge and not gen popping easy. Maybe make doing gens a multi phase process instead of sitting there doing them when the killer is basically right beside them? because survivors are arrogant enough right now they are doing gens in your face pretty much. Maybe buff overcharge for 10/15/25% regression? sorry for the rage games are done too quickly :(

If survivors dont fool around, dont search for chests etc, then this means that 3 gens are done till you catch the first guy. From that you have to hope that you can get sth going by snowballing.

Even ruin wont change that against good survivors as the depip squad proved

What the developers have done to Killer is just ridiculous. You feel incredibly powerless unless you play Nurse or Hillbilly, and I refuse to play the same two Killers over and over just to feel like I'm doing something. Survivor is boring to play, it's simply too easy to play as Survivor. I don't want to play Survivor, I want to play Killer. I want to play Killer and be satisfied. I post this here in hopes a developer sees this, or at least get a response from one of them.

I don't want to play DBD anymore. I played Survivor for a while, but that got boring, and Killer is the only entertaining part of this game. But they have ruined it, and the community's pleas for any sort of balance IN FAVOR of the Killer has either been given a half-assed fix, or is ignored. I don't hate this game, I just hate the direction it's been going in for a while. And it doesn't seem like it's going to get any better.

Even the new DLC doesn't seem to be bringing anything that will make playing Killer more satisfying and fun. No matter how hard you try, unless you try-hard as heck and bring in top-tier perks/add-ons, you will not have fun because the Killers are so weak and playing Survivor is a cakewalk. Again, I don't hate this game, I want to see them bring changes that will actually make Killer fun. But until that day comes, if it ever does, I'm not going to keep playing this game. I will not buy anymore of the DLC. Hopefully in the future I can come back and actually enjoy playing Killer, but until that day, I'm not going to keep frustrating myself playing DBD. The game has incredible potential, but the developers need to remember that the Killer is meant to be an unstoppable force, not a laughable one.

Same, after over 600 hours waiting for balancing I see that the big anniversary patch will be a dissapointment too.

I decided to buy dirt rally during the steam sale and experienced a lot of frustration (never knew driving a car at the limits can be that difficult)
But you know what, I know that it was my fault when I crash into the tree and that I just need to improve. In DBD this is sadly not the case

    Hatch changes
"The close hatch interaction now automatically completes the remaining generators and powers the exit gates upon completion. Note that this does not actually open the exit gates, and that they will still need to be interacted with by the survivor for 16 seconds with the normal open gate interaction."

    What happened to 20 seconds?

    I actually like this idea.
It gives the survivor a new chance of escaping, but it is still pretty hard to do for the survivor if the killer found the hatch first.

The wording is very subtle but I would interpret it this way that the exit gate now ALWAYS takes 16 sec instead of 20

Can we please have a mod confirm this typo or change

Well no disrespect intended, but maybe you just need to get better as killer if that was the case.

Well that would be the case but gen rushing completely ruins any real chance for the Killer to even have a chance. It literally ends the game as soon as possible (before 5 minutes) and that's not the killer's fault, it's the dev's fault for having that design flaw. Survs have so many crutches and get-out-of-jail-free cards that it' funny when survs criticize killers. It's like a player playing on easy mode and wins is talking down on the player playing on hard and losing.

A competent killer can handle 'gen rushing'. I usually play survive with friends, so its four survivors communicating and coordinating against one killer. I say this with no ego, but we're pretty good. We've played against some superb killers who stopped us from getting more than 2-3 gens done, killed us all, and they didn't even need the crutch of things like hex ruin. They didn't need to camp. They didn't need to tunnel. That's how you improve your gameplay. You go against a good killer, or good survivors. You play against that, and you learn how to improve.

Speaking of crutches, survivors have no more crutches than the killer. In fact the survivor needs theirs more as they have no defense against fending off a killer other than pallets (which have been nerfed), and flashlights. Borrowed time has been nerfed. Decisive strike is going to be nerfed. Killers will be able to close the hatch. They have overcharge. Barbeque and chili. Remember me. No one escapes death. Hex ruin. Make your choice etc. There is so many things killers have to seek out and screw with survivors.

And to the member, who is obviously some salty killer player, I was not saying 'git gud' to trigger anyone. If I want to try and trigger someone I can be more inventive and effective than that. I said he probably needs to get better because I have played against many killers who have sweeped a lobby against great groups of survivors and did not need to camp, tunnel, or use a bunch hexes to slow us down.

Clearly you have no idea what you are talking about. I understand that not everybody SWF is playing competitively and that there are a lot of casual players, but please refrain from such statements then.

I suggest you take a look at the marth experiment and watch a few games of the depip squad, it will teach you what a genrush means.

Im not even going to adress the 2nd paragraph, no point arguing with a survivor main who never played killer

  • The clown is the perfect killer that survivors can bully.
Fat belly check, ugly face check
Seems like the devs are continuing heading towards a bullying sim, I guess its time to stop supporting this game now

  • You are using 3rd party programms to gain an advantage. Yes you can be banned for that. The only question whether EAC detects that and I have no experience about that

  • @BLUE_APE
I main doc/huntress and if you start reaching green ranks, then the skillcheck is basically not missed anymore, no matter if you run doc with unnerving or not

On low ranks people miss DS even without any madness/unnerving somtimes, but on the other hand you can easily catch them too (if they are true low ranks)

Just watch some of the dedicated DBD streamers with thousands of hours. If they are actually concentrating on the game, then a "good" skillcheck is a bad thing for them already because they use to get great ones only

  • @liv071981 said:
I see your points, however not all SWF groups go into a match in beast mode. The people I run with don't typically run DS and go in with flashlights (I myself am terrible with a flashlight - never stunned one killer to date. Actually, the only time I plan to run DS is when I go for the Adept Laurie achievement). But perhaps I am in the minority with that.

SWF can help you to know what is going on, but so can Bond (and to an extent, empathy) if you are running solo. I myself run Bond at top tier on all of my survivors.

It is incredibly frustrating for survivors to repeatedly wait in lobbies only to have killers back out when they see a character or item come in that they're afraid of. I would like to see a report option for that, but as we all know, the survivors do not know who the killer is until the end of the match. (At least it is that way on XBox.) We are unable to report a killer for lobby dodging, because we have no idea who he or she is.

If some sort of penalty were implemented that would deter killers from lobby dodging, then I would be okay with the status quo of killers seeing survivors but not vice versa. However, as it stands right now, it is incredibly frustrating at the survivor level. I had three right in a row do this last night, and then two again a while later.

When I start playing DBD, my first match of the day is always a "nice mood" game, where I try intentionally not to tunnel, weak addons, maybe even party offering

You would be surprised how many of my nice games actually get punished by bullying SWFs (at least 50%). If its not thefirst game where the SWF strike me, then its the second game, I rarely get a 3rd fun game.

After such a game I will simply dodge SWF or play really toxic, also depending on my mood. IF the SWF game has been really intense, toxic etc etc, then I will even continue with this behaviour on the following day(s)

Oh and btw, you cannot compare console to PC at all. On consoles most players play casually, so ofc there are less SWF and rare "beast mode SWF"

  • @TheCamper said:
    No.

    They shouldn't.

One, swf is a thing. It's a huge thing in the game. So knowing you are up against a team of say flashlights or toolbox runners.

As a killer you can adjust your perk set up. Since 4 v 1. The killer is at an disadvantage. Having that chances to adjust your set up is needed.

Pretty sure lobby dodging isn't allowed. Not sure if it's reportable but seems like something a person should get penalised for. They should just do something similar to plug pullers. Too many times and you get an auto ban.

Ofc lobby dodging is allowed, in fact it is the only method to guarantee a lagg-free game
If devs didnt want us to lobby dodge, they would remove the "leave lobby" button

  • I also remember that when buying this game I bought an assymetrical HORROR-game.

So I were playing today without any issues but about 2 hours ago when I tried to login dbd again it gets stuck on the loading screen .
Considering that psn network is up and running and I have no issues with my other online games it's pretty much obvious that there is something wrong with ps4 dbd . so I started twitch to see if there is any ps4 streamers online in twitch but I didn't see any .
If you are facing the same issue on ps4 pls leave a comment . I want to see if it is an actual dbd problem and if so , they fix it faster .

Why would a streamer play on ps4? Give me one reason

Where are you seeing these infinites?

I haven't seen a true one since bloodlust + window blockers.

On haddonfield in the largest house I had a game where you were able to switch windows such that the black entity effect never triggered. Only happened once though

If they did this any seriousness this game has left would be chucked out the window.

Its too late, they might aswell introduce swimsuits, we cant really talk about a horror game anymore

  • After encountering some hardcore SWF who just wants to make me suffer, I either go into full toxic mode as killer or switch to survivor and get bored because of the easy escapes
I honestly cant understand why this game is still so popular^^

  • Toxic behaviour is when the killer is trying to kill you

  • This happens if you port a "competitive" game onto a console, which is by definition made for casual gaming.....
Survivor is so easy that you dont even need to use mouse/keyboard, a lot of players even use controller on PC when they play survivor (that would be a different story if survivor would be 1st person though)

Now imagine a counterstrike game where one team has to play with consoles and the other one with mouse and keyboard, would turn out badly eh?

  • The real issue is collecting all of them. You simply dont have enough time considering how fast gens go and how much time you need for a chase

    for real though

They’d never outright remove a perk. That cant really, what’d they say to the people that spent millions of bloodpoints inheriting it, and getting it? “Your fault for being toxic meta [BAD WORD]”?

They did the same with freddy, and people even spent real money on him

They didn’t remover Freddy! They nerfed him! This person suggested REMOVING a perk, no they’d nerf it. Don’t know what you’re on about, nor the original poster.

Nerfing him into oblivion is pretty much the same as removing him.
Well lets reword the DS remove request into a DS nerf by just making DS escape you from teh killers grab, but you dont actually gain a healthstate.

We already have a perk like that... Oh wait it doesn't surprise anyone because the only person who would run it is a basement Leatherface.

Iam talking about a perk you can use for chases and for mindgames, insidious is just for camping and its just a bad design in my opinion

Left Behind isn't even necessary to do a gen. I've done 3 gens alone against a legacy Nurse. My only perk that helped was Urban Evasion. People thing stealth is impossible, if the killer doesn't have Whispers you can easily stealth around and do gens alone. It isn't impossible.

I know but most survivor complain that is not easy enough, so I opened their eyes and showed them a perk too fasten up stuff

I am a suviver main, ill admit that, and yet i find it more of a challenge to run a build without self care, those who play with it are just scared or don't have Iron will. I actively prefer iron will, only suvivers who run self care are those who don't have iron will(like lauri come on she needs a way to shut up), because sometimes you cant find a teammate to heal you or like i once suffered, have a team that WILL NOT HEAL YOU no matter how hard you beg, had to spend the whole game injured it wasn't fun, couldn't even find a med kit in a chest.
The downside, no matter how hard we try, and how much we try and think up nerfs(like maybe you can only use self care when no other suvivers are near you?) i don't think the devs would nerf it, i have a lot of killer main friends but i want this game to return to how its meant to be, where killer is stronger then the suvivers. But there player base is mostly suviver's not killers, and they keep on listening to them and not the side they need to. I would love for killer to be more fun, then getting trolled and tormented, i would like the game to be fun for everyone.

When I started playing the game all most noone had selfcare.
Nowadays noone will heal you anymore because they want to do other stuff while you SC yourself, it is basically assumed that you use SC

In the old days it was much more fun, but thats only my opinion and I am a survivor who actually wants to be scared instead of being granted free wins, thats why I switched to killer, but well its not rlly enjoyable either =(
