oh hey you're the lady who spewed transphobic rhetoric on the thread where you were complaining about david being gay
trans women generally do worse in women's sports than cis women and go ######### yourself for calling me and people like me "physically men"
Yea I'm quite surprised how being transphobic is allowed in the forums and then they come with the LGBT announcements... bruh

personally i think the larger issue is in people's desire for specific labels, gender and sexuality are too complicated for that
It does not need to be that complicated imo. A lot of newish terms are just reused language from terms that already exist but with a new name.

Yeah, well I'm not going to defend that. I don't see why they felt the need to make a Twitter post about it prior. Bit of a spoiler if you ask me. What they should have done is leave it for a few weeks and let people discover it in game and then have made the post.
Now that you mention the spoiler aspect, that too. They could at least made the announcement AFTER the archives came out.

As the resident grumpy old forum centrist that finds a lot of this stuff rather silly - yup, the Quasar flag is a can of worms. The second you try to include basically everyone, going from an abstract rainbow flag to something with specific meanings, inclusions (and by proxy exclusions) and then pointing to your flag and going 'this represents you, this represents you and this represents me', now anyone left out will have a bone to pick.
Which is why the Quasar flag has been superseded by
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/3QH4VEU3Q85Q/image.png
or more commonly
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/G6A226ZIZW3H/image.png
And I'm sure more will be added as we go, with the flag getting denser and denser.
As someone somewhat on the outside of all of this, it makes me wonder when this becomes counterproductive.
I'd consider myself a centrist as well (in a EU setting), and I totally agree.
Like I mentioned on my post, the original rainbow flag was inclusive. It was a LGBT+ flag, everyone part of the acronym was part of it.
When they started adding other flags on top of it, it's like after all people represented by those flags were not included?
By that logic, people can only assume that everyone else is also not included, so now they should be adding everything on top of the rainbow until none of it is visible anymore.
I'm not sure if the black and brown stripes are a part of race, correct me if I'm wrong, but all that shows me is that the original flag after all was also not inclusive of non white people, which imo, it always was.
They just ruined a simple, recognizable flag to a logo marketing monster.
-
The only times I feel the need to mention my trans status and my sexuality is either in a dating setting or in a discussion about the topic.
I agree that the way BHVR went about it with the announcement was quite distasteful in my opinion.
I would rather have heard about it through the archives/tome than them to make a huge announcement about it.
David being gay? Fine. The announcement? Seemed forced to me.

Shrug. I'm sure you will.
I think the devs went with the Quasar flag because it incorporates most of the currently in-vogue identities, without realizing what a can of worms that flag is.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2925073#Comment_2925073
My guess is that they wanted a charm that didn't glow like a road flare.
I love it when survivors use bright, glowy charms - it's like a massive bullseye that I can follow when they try to be sneaky.
At least I'm not the only one who genuinely hates that flag.
The original rainbow was already inclusive, when they made this new abomination it just made me feel like after all trans people were not included in it after all.....

isn't it FORCING?
No one is forcing you to play as david.
And why would you not like someone ELSES sexuality, it has nothing to do with you...

My brother in christ, it's not that deep.
If LGBT people trigger you that much that you feel the need to get a refund, that's a you problem. No one is forcing you to have sex with any character in the game.

Yea I totally get your perspective as well, I like those little crow ones and still use them even though you can barely see them.

First of all, there was already mentioned a girlfriend in his lore.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/ONNGZN7YRV95/image.png
And in simple words, I´m angry with rewriting the story of an existing character as they want, don't taking care of fans. Just imagine if your favorite survivor is Kate/Feng/Meg etc, and in the next tome suddenly it comes that she has a cock.
Now that's great question, since I happen to be transgender myself.
I think if I liked someone that much from a video game to a point of getting upset about them turning out to be a sexuality that wouldn't be attracted to me, I think I'd have bigger issues than someone having genitals I wasn't expecting them to.
-
@RoboMojo said:

Honestly, I like the new flag. The colours seem a bit faded, almost like it's been in the Entity's realm for quite some time (which I think is pretty cool). Personally though, I'd like to see the Asexual flag. I'm not Asexual, but someone quite close to me is so I'd like to see that added.
The problem with the faded colors is that the charms are already so small it's difficult to even see details like that.
I just hate how it looks aesthetically, it makes no sense at all to me.

Yeah, I´m sorry if someone doesn´t like how I said this. I´m just really angry and still trying my best to be polite
Can you please explain why this make you angry? And please don't see this as an accusatory question, I'm genuinely trying to understand.
Coming from a man perspective who happens to be bisexual, generally speaking all characters are defaulted to straight when sexuality is not mentioned in their lore. As far as I know there was nothing on David's lore until now that has mentioned him dating or being attracted to anyone.
For gay/lesbians/bisexuals, and I am speaking just from my own experience I don't know how others feel about it, but I don't really get upset/angry when another man is seen as straight. Like I mentioned in another post, there are fanfictions and art portraying straight characters in gay relationships.
Wouldn't you as a straight woman not be content with just consuming straight media from that character? David being canonically gay doesn't mean all media from now on will showcase him as gay, I'm sure there are plenty of people who will show him as straight.

I know they can be- sorry if it came across like that wasn't the case. I worded it how I did because OP said, "As a woman, I´ve just lost my favorite male survivor. I think that having some ideal characters, maybe even sexualized is OK in videogames, so why the hell you are don´t take care of the female part of your community???"
I honestly don't see the issue with David being gay and then it "ruining" the "straight woman" thing.
People always just assumed he was straight and it did not ruin it for gay people. People don't have an issue with making wraith/nurse gay when they are straight when they write fanfiction or make art, so I don't see why straight people can't just do the same and move on.

I do. Though if Survivors abuse RPD and certain perks/items; they can't whine when slugged.
I think DCing is never OK unless there's an RL emergency.
Ok good. For me dcing is only alright with the IRL emergency or if you're going against a hacker or have one on your team even.
These forums do seem to be alright with dcing just by going against things they dont like though, on both sides, be it a map, killer or even perk.
-
I think that would be even worse imo...

What's the PVE aspect of this game? Must have missed something :)
-
Best? Nightmare on Elm Street. I main Quentin on the survivor side and main Freddy/Pig on the killer. I also think the remake is not as bad as people claim it to be.
Worst is probably Portrait of a Murder. Crow lady is ok, but the survivor is the most forgettable character to ever show up in this game.

I thought it was a basic m1 since nurse also is. Oh well.

No one, especially not the Devs thinks about Solo queue when it comes to balance and perk adjustments.
I'm a "team player" in Solo Q (run BT, CoH, shadowstep sometimes) and since the SBMM encourages selfish play, and rewards escapes over everything else, I'm often left to die on my first hook as 3 people run out the door. CoH was actually helpful for Solo queue in the beginning. If they nerfed it a third time, no one would use it anymore. It would become trash and we'd all go back to the old Meta. Even now, I see CoH less and less and sometimes I think dedicating one perk slot to team health and the rest for self preservation is the way to go. In that scenario, Borrowed Time is more valuable than CoH imo.
All anyone cares about is Killer vs SWF. Because SWF is insanely strong. I commiserate with Killers, but I'm getting real tired of Solo Q being nothing but an afterthought.
Basically the same place I am at.
I've always been in favor of killers getting stronger and I still am, but when for killers to get stronger all they do is make perks garbage for solo q and still useable to SWF I just can't agree with that.
-
Can you read my future? You seem to know a lot about things that haven't even happened.

@WesCravenFan said:
I think it is garbage when used in conjunction with Head-On.

-
No. If the killers are able to choose to slug or not to avoid DS, survivors are free to choose or not to use a locker to avoid being slugged, and they're not progressing the game while in a locker.

I think they mean the slower vaulting would be in effect only upon being exhausted, i.e. only after triggering Lithe.
Oh, fair enough them. I wonder if spine chill would deny that effect then, since it makes vaulting faster too
-
@danielmaster87 said:
Make TVs actually face the gens, they should stay turned off for less time, and you should not slow down at all when going in and out of manifest/demanifest. That's the least they can do.
I actually really like this idea. With Freddy being able to teleport to gens and already being on top of it since he teleports directly to them, I think the TVS since they aren't direct on the gen could definitely be turned directly to them.
-
@JoaoVanBlizzard said:
Dead hard is not the game's problem, but this game favors exhaustion perks a lot, it would be more interesting if exhaustion had an extra effect on survs, such as reducing speed or interaction with windows and pallets, as well as adjusting the Bleeding
But I won't extend this subject and answer the question of the post: I like to use Kate's perk to see windows and pallets, it helps me to play without the help of DH, another perk that I like a lot is the head-on and the lithe, overcome I don't like it very much, because it's not with all killer that this perk works well
How would you make vaulting slower for Lithe then? Exhaustion perk that requires vaulting, and you'd reduce the speed if you vault?.
Windows Of Opportunity servers a complete different need than Exhaustion perks.

People would switch to sprint burst, then people would complain about it instead.

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/320258/ds-shouldnt-have-a-skill-check
I would gladly remove the skillcheck required to activate the perk, but in exchange that DS will be deactivated if you:
1 take a protection hit (since they want to put borrowed time as a basekit skill, if you are bodyblocking with BT you are pretty much asking for being tunneled)
2 when you jump in a locker
3it will deactivate once all generators are done (you aren't being tunneled anymore at this point) or if you need to keep it active even in the endgame then just deactivate it if you are opening the exit gates (this is another survivor objective after all so they shouldn't be rewarded like the old DS for doing the objective under the killer's nose without worrying about anything)
That would be an awful idea since protection hits are pretty random. Imagine I get farmed from the hook, the person has DS, and dodges the killer and it ends up hitting me. I took a protection hit because I was farmed, and now it's free tunnel town. No thanks.

The crazy part about DBD if that the most optimal coordinated teams will split up virtually at all times and are willing to let individual teammates get tunneled/camped to win the overall game.
Making it in a lot of times smarter to not be a team player. So with that mentality in mind, which is a lot of times created by the game itself, why would a solo player bring COH instead of just a medkit/Selfcare? Selfcare also increases healing of someone else afaik, and a medkit surely does.

Yes and a survivor can also die with DH because it’s not useful in every situation.
Dead Hard is a free win according to some people on these forums. Which is kind of odd, since they also claim everyone uses dead hard. Maybe the new statistics will show survivors with 100% escape rate if all of this is true.

You can also add Pop, CoB, STBFL, BBQ, FoR, HG, MYC, Devour, Plaything, Pentimento, Retribution, Thana and probably a few others I'm forgetting. I think the killer meta is better than it's ever been.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2916677#Comment_2916677
Here's the problem with the survivor meta.
'Tier' is relative.
Survivors have a lot of good perks, and a few that are so strong that not using them is almost playing the game wrong.
DH and CoH are probably the best examples. BT and DS are also crazy strong, but are sort of required to be strong.
There are plenty of other great survivor perks, but they are just overshadowed by the power of ridiculously fast teamwide heals and a third health state.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2916682#Comment_2916682
I'm...not sure if you understand what that means.
Both sides have experienced a lot of buffs as of late (DH 'fix', CoH on the survivor end).
The handful of nerfs doled out were mostly because the stuff nerfed was straight up unhealthy for the game (keys, BO, OoO).

Because SC has been quietly broken for years now, it's just not as visibly impactful as DH and CoH.
It shouldn't blind counter Myers for starters.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2916773#Comment_2916773
When there are a sufficient number of feedback criticisms about an aspect of your game, it definitely demonstrates that a lot of people are frustrated by that aspect.
SC isn't broken.

I said that you seem to ignore the team perspective of the game. Self-interested is slightly different than selfish.
Not being very helpful to teammates unless it directly benefits you (self-interested) is different from being perfectly comfortable with sandbagging/farming teammates when it benefits you (selfish)
I am helpful to team mates. But that like I said, doesn't make them helpful to me.
-
@Zeidoktor said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2916815#Comment_2916815
Hence "generally benefits you" and not "always benefits you"
I would go with the "mostly doesn't benefit you" instead.
-
@Zeidoktor said:
The thought in my head right now is that even if the queue is solo, it's is still a team game. That teammate you unhook or heal may be the one that comes in clutch by saving you, or finishing the last gen.
In context, the teammate that uses your Circle of Healing to get to full health may be the one that ends up running the Killer while you get the last gen done or save someone else.
You asked for a benefit? Helping your team generally benefits you, and all you really gotta do is take the time to bless an out of the way totem.
Me helping my team doesnt mean my team is gonna help me.
And my helping my team escape, doesn't really benefit me in any way? Sure, I can get a good ol pat on the back for being a good team mate, but in terms of game rewards what do I get?
Example: I stay to save a team mate, save them and I get hooked, they survive and I die. What game benefit did I get from it? None. I get a lower MMR, I dont get escape BP.
And no, me stating factual stuff from the game doesn't mean I am a selfish survivor, like the OP decided to claim.
-
Not everything needs to be nerfed. Perks are supposed to give you an advantage.
If it's to nerf everything, might as well make the game completely perkless.
-
@gatsby said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2916772#Comment_2916772
You're not really looking at COH from an overall balance perspective. You're just looking at it from the perspective of if you, a solo queue survivor, would run it for your own benefit.
My guess is that you probably would never run perks like Empathic Connection, Borrowed Time or We'll Make It. But you might appreciate if other people ran them.
Solo Q is part of balance. I know everyone likes to forget it, but solo q exists and also needs to be thought about when talking about balance issues.

The entire idea behind Boons is that they're for team play. Think of COH needing to be brought down to Dark Theory, Shadow Step and Exponential level. If its better than those perks its probably still too strong
Unfortunately team play only counts when you are in a SWF, solo Q is full of selfish people.
I don't think COH is too strong right now after the nerfs, and I think the other boons are mediocre, besides shadow step which is the only one I have a problem with.
-
You said the survivor getting a speed boost from overcome is the same as the one they get from getting hit. Why would I want to get that speed from getting hit, if I can not get hit and get the speed with a perk?

It turns a brown medkit without addons into a double heal medkit with 100% speed. Also, anyone who heals in the circle gets We'll Make It.
But yeah its best with a medkit. Literally any medkit.
Ok, but that implies healing others, in solo q. Where is my benefit as a solo player?
