  • It doesn't affect Victor no, because the Exposed status effects is only on basic attacks and he's considered to be the killers power.

  • @yobuddd I think Inji answered everything

  • that would have been around the cusp of when it was switched on/off so difficult to say I'm afraid as to whether it was switched on or off at the time.

No, it is not. This is why there's a clear "Dev vs. Community" mentality expressed throughout the forums: the devs and forum moderators simply don't understand the community's reasoning or they flat out ignore it.

How many people is the "majority" that've "taken the time to go through the questions"? You have no proof of anyone actually upvoting instead of upvotes being manipulated, as do I, and the only reason this paranoia has spread is because a lot of people don't trust the forum's current upvote system (as it is viewed as basically just a censored election). Letting a third-party site (that the devs already use) ask the community to verify the questions gets rid of any opposition stating that the questions are being cherry-picked or aren't reasonable to ask.

Like I said earlier as well, you can't satisfy everyone. However, you can make the opposition's points completely moot if you actually put the effort in to stop them before it becomes the majority's view.

You are right about not being able to satisfy everyone, that's why we've chosen what we believe is the fairest system...we also take questions from Twitter for those that don't use the forums. We take the most popular questions that have been asked - as that's what we believe to be the fairest way.

Running all that through another survey entirely negates the whole point of having an upvote/downvote system in the first place. Plus the extra time involve isn't something that's viable for us to do right now - not saying it's not something we'd consider in the future and if we find another system we might well do it, but for right now, this is the best system that we have available to us.

That's assuming that you both move back to the original system and that the current system isn't being accused of cherry picking by the majority already, both of which being false. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying any opposition means it's ineffective but rather that the current Q&A structure makes the majority of the community unhappy and feel alienated from the actual dev team.

May I suggest a simple solution?

    • Run the currently picked Q&A questions through a survey a few hours before Q&A goes live.
    • Make each question simply be: "Would you like x (the question) to be answered?"
    • Give two simple choices, yes or no. Having a middle option would decrease the effectiveness.
    • Let people view the results once the Q&A goes live.

This would quite literally get rid of any claim of cherry-picking because you're clearing showing that you chose the questions based off of both upvotes and by what the community actually wants to hear.

That seems to be completely covered by the upvote/downvote system. The whole point of being able to upvote/downvote is that we then get the questions that the majority of the Community who've taken the time to go through the questions, wish to have answered. The problem arises when the questions that are most upvoted are about upcoming content/features/changes which we cannot answer at that time - if we don't choose these questions then we're accused of cherry picking, when we do choose these questions and explain that we can't give this information, we're also vilified for not being able to answer the question.

There is a downvote button for questions. Have you never browsed the Q&A section?

There's a upvote/downvote system on the QA questions - it's been there for quite some time. (up & down arrows basically)

If the questions that the majority of the community actually wanted were answered you wouldn't see so many threads complaining about every Q&A being useless. You see them before them, you see them after them, yet you still say that you're choosing the right ones based off of upvotes. Even if these questions are based off of upvotes, it just means the system's gathering of questions is ineffective and you should change it further.

and then we'd be back to the system where we're accused of Cherry picking questions and not answering the questions that people want answered.

  • Hit Validation was switched off a few hours after it was implemented due to an issue with Oni, so without knowing whether you were playing with it on or off makes it difficult to say exactly what was happening.

  • @Tsulan said:

I never understood, why they would choose questions, they can´t answer. It would be different, if the questions came from the chat during a live stream. But those questions are chosen and were cleared before the stream even starts.

We choose the questions that have the most upvotes. We made this change after the feedback we received on these forums about only answering certain questions and not the ones that the Community wanted answered. We make very clear that some things can't be discussed, such as upcoming changes/content etc...but then when we don't pick those questions, we're accused of "cherry picking" - that's why we made the decision to use the questions with the most upvotes.

  • @Gallioni @KayTwoAyy I've sent you both a private message, if you can get back to me as soon as you can, that would be great. Thank you.

  • There are definitely going to be console specific codes for this event so console players will have the same chance to get the charm that PC players do, which was the main issue on the previous event.

  • Thanks for taking the time to write your opinion, I've answered a few of your points below.

    1. Keys and mori's are somethings that have been discussed for a long time, both sides of the argument are heard. Things take time to change in a live game, it's dependant on what's decided to be changed and what can be fitted in with which update - so even if changes are going to be made (this isn't saying there are changes, just changes in general) it does take time to implement these things.
    2. NOED - no idea why people have a problem with this perk tbh, as a survivor if you're hit with NOED you've been careless in not taking out the totems. It doesn't reward no skill killers at all - that killer has played with only 3 perks for the majority of a match, and the match doesn't end until you've either escaped or died as a survivor, not just when the gens have been completed.
    3. Rancor is a great perk - it gives some help to both sides during the match and the killer still has to catch the survivor at the end of the match providing all generators have been completed. It might be completely useless to the killer or might reward them with a Mori, much like Devour Hope, I think it's an excellently balanced perk
    4. Decisive Strike is an Obsession perk, so running it can make you the obsession.
    5. There will always be "meta perks" and they will always work on some characters better than others, and taking skill to use shouldn't define a perk - plus perks like Windows of Opportunity don't really take skill to use and that's fine - not all perks have to take skill to use. I personally prefer perks that are risk vs reward, and there's nothing wrong with that - that's why we have choices in what perks we can use.
    6. The Developers do listen, we take relevant feedback from the forums to them but what you must realise that a lot of ideas for perk changes etc aren't going to work within the game and that maybe the downside is too much or the perk would be too strong. We rely on their expertise in this area.
    7. The Patch Notes have explained the issues with the latest Chapter and that these will shortly be fixed with a hotfix.
    8. It's subjective about whether or not taking time away from producing DLC's would work - a lot of games rely heavily on new content to keep the game fresh so I am sure there's reasons as to why this isn't viable in the present time
    9. Discordance was actually buffed and not nerfed.
    10. DbD is a Live game, making changes to a live game takes time - that's why things happen slower than people would like. Changes are made very regularly to this game and bugs are fixed as quickly as possible (some bugs are easier to fix than others). The latest Chapter will have a hotfix which has been discussed already in the patch notes.

A lot of changes get made within this game - it's come an awful long way since it's release in 2016 and I think a large part of it staying alive for this long is the fun of the game, the iconic characters, plus the regular content - I know that's something that definitely has kept me playing. We all have our own ideas about what changes we would like to see, which is why this section of the forum is so useful, so thank you for sharing your ideas today.

Can my hits be rejected if my ping is stable at 150 ms but my opponents have 40?

basically yes, because they have a better connection to the server than you.

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/185864/news-hit-validation-beta#latest More information on how Hit Validation works is explained here.

  • @Hyd said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/210246/good-old-hit-validation

If we assume the hit validation system is working as it should be, then the only thing BHVR could determine from this clip is that the Killer was the one with the stronger connection and so was given priority - on the Killer's screen, you were closer to them.

Exactly this. Hit Validation prioritises the player with the better connection to the server so it's distinctly possible that the killer had the better connection so prioritised their hit.

  • @Wesker said:

No one can predict when their connection is slighty lagging, so this is an unfair mechainc. It needs to be reverted back

That's precisely what's making it fair - the person with the better connection takes priority in the hit. That's the very definition of fair.

  • Have to say, I also struggle with it - another colour blind person here.

  • Thank you for your constructive and calm feedback.

  • It's been implemented already...as of 2 hours ago

  • I think giving him red stain would remove a lot of the power of the killer, and I don't think that's needed - you're not going to loop Victor the same as you would any other killer anyway, so it's not really the same type of playstyle. He's also pretty loud and it's relatively easy to judge where he is and if he's in a decent jump range.

  • The problem with that, is that it leads to Survivors being able to get on objects that they're not supposed to be able to land on and then taking the game hostage from there...which is why things were changed a while back (am sure some people here will remember being able to Dead Hard from the Balconies on Haddonfield). It just leads to more problems.

  • I don't believe that already started dailies were supposed to update no - it's starts with the newer dailies.

  • @KingOfGhost said:

This " DLC" is trash and nothing work ( killer and survivor). So they right things is to refund everyone who buy it ( only currency they use ). Then after you fix it you releases it and ask again for money.

I have been lucky not to buy it and I really hope most of the community do the same. This can't go more the devs this time literally trying to sold us a PTB.

No matter what side you are preferring you must support this because no one know what unfinished PTB they will try to sold us.

    Sorry for my bad English.

Any refunds are processed by the application that you bought through ie Steam, so anyone who requires a refund needs to contact their own platform. In game store purchases are not refundable.

The patch notes clearly listed the known issues that were present in this DLC, and these patch notes were visible prior to the release.

  • I will look into this for you, a couple of other people have brought it to my attention as well.

  • I'm going to lock this right here, because it's gone way off topic and there's some comments that are completely outrageous! @ringwinning as you say you are having a network connection I am going to suggest you contact support about your issue, https://support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us

And I will remind people that if you commit to playing the game, when you leave the game for no valid reason (being hit on the hook is not a valid reason!), then you are spoiling the game for the other 4 players in the match, and that's precisely the reason that the DC penalty is in place.

  • Was this an already started or present daily?

  • Great, thanks for updating the thread @thesuicidefox

  • This forum deals with the core game only - so PC & Consoles. For anything related to DbD Mobile please use their official sources: https://dbdmobile.helpshift.com/a/dead-by-daylight-mobile/?p=all

  • This issue should now be fixed, you may need to restart your console and/or manually check for updates from the menu.

Thank you all for your help.

  • Right, can you try to force the update again please?

  • @blondemagnolia I've messaged you for further information, thank you

  • @nicholas glad that worked for you, a few people are saying that they've tried that and it's not working for them. I've messaged people for further information

  • OK thanks for letting me know, I will let the team know.

  • Can you restart your console and then do a manual search of the store to get the update please?

  • I think it's cute and I don't see how it doesn't fit - we have Dwelf in the game and Bunny Feng. I really do not see an issue with this.

  • Please post Bug Reports in the Bug Report sub forum - if your bug has already been posted, then add to any relevant information and vote up the post.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/categories/bugs

  • The procedure to report a player is exactly the same on all platforms. More information can be found here: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/kb/articles/139-game-rules#how-to-report-a-player

  • Just reading this title and thinking that anywhere else that would be really misunderstood 🤨

  • we'll have to wait and see how generous Dwelf is feeling.

  • Must admit, I would rather no names would be shown in the lobby at all, neither survivor or killer. Seeing the Characters/items should be enough. The killer should always remain hidden, that way you don't know what killer you're going to face. There was a time where you could see who you were playing against as a survivor and that led to a lot of lobby dodging, imagine "this killer is a really good Nurse" - the lobby would empty fast! That's why that ability was removed.

Ahhh ok, well glad I didn't just say "is it Scorpionz cause I don't agree with his mentality about things" since that'd probably be shaming him.

And to any Mod that reads this, please know I said he's a good person and that I just don't agree with part of his mentality, which is a normal human thing and I meant no shame towards him by saying I don't agree with part of his mentality or thought process.

That wouldn't fall under Naming & Shaming - you might not agree with everything that Scorpionz says and that's fine, he's a very good friend of mine and I don't agree with him all of the time either, because everyone has their own opinions. The Naming & Shaming rule would apply is when it reflects negatively on a person - so we get things like "X person camped and tunnelled me" - it's unnecessary and pretty much all forums have a name/shame rule in place.

  • Dwelf is very naughty taking over the Twitter account - I am sure he's done all sorts of things like change passwords and stuff like that :) I wonder what he'll come up with whilst he's in charge though 😐️

  • Can you please manage to have a discussion without throwing insults at each other?!

Please don't take this conversation off topic - the original question was whether or not the progress carried over. Your own feelings on cross play are irrelevant in this discussion.

  • I will check further into this, but I must warn you that Intel Graphics are not officially supported by DbD - as per our information on the Steam Store.

  • There is no plan to revert back to P2P. Dedicated servers was the most requested feature by the Community and it took a lot of work to implement. There will be Server Sided Hit Validation implemented in due course - this has already been tested on the Live build, which will prioritise the person who has the best connection to the server for hopefully fairer play.

  • @Exellen said:

It's funny that there is hundreds of competitive games like cs apex cod which validate hundreds of hits per minute very accurately regarding model position. And there is DBD where you get hit directly where you been 2 meters ago...

That's because those games were built around Dedicated Servers, DbD wasn't as it was originally a P2P game so the game has had to be adjusted greatly to work on dedicated servers and server sided hit validation is in the process of being tested (we previously had test versions of this on the Live build).

  • Exactly what @Yamaoka said (thank you btw).

I've removed the screenshots from the post as we do have naming & shaming rules on this forum.

This is the support address that would require the video evidence: https://support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us

  • @Zayn said:

Just tried it! Seems to be working!

    that's good news!

    @FilledPizza I can't give a timeframe I'm afraid.

  • I believe a fix was pushed for this issue today, so hopefully it's solve the issue for you.

  • Yes this was implemented earlier today, fingers are crossed that it'll work as intended!

  • I'd rather not have the Console vs PC argument as we promote inclusivity here.

However, if you wish to not play with players on other platforms, you are free to "opt out" of cross play - it's in the settings section which you can access from the main menu...however, you will possibly face longer queues as a result as it will match you with other players on your platform that have also disabled crossplay.
