But imagine if every killer was just as brutal with their prey
I prefer to have brutal Killers have brutal Moris.
While Nurse is dominant currently, she's not brutal lorewise, hence she chokes instead of sawing through bones in her Mori.Completely agree with you there, but there are other things that could fit her for an obsession mori, such as absorbing their essence such as she appears to have done some what (with all her addons being breath or breathing related) i bring that up because an obsession is supposed to be "special" so going off that, wouldn't the nurse want to "Feed" (and i use that term very loosely) on a strong survivor she's obsessed with?
that being said brutal ones are more fitting for people like trapper and wraith, possibly even hill billy. -

Otherwise they would just die instead. The Bp/experience penalty is to discourage normal people from wanting to d/c. yes toxic people may not care much or at all about that penalty, but thats what the bans would be in place for.
at the moment there's no long lasting reminder for having d/c'ed. a penalty on your account, would act as a semi permanent reminder playing on the psychology of oh i did wrong.
That being said i don't believe at all that it would discourage people who are truly wishing to d/c. -

Exactly, though in reference to the the thing I said about nurse above, that wasn't me saying her mori was bad, just giving an example on what could be done for an obsession moriNurseMainBTW said:Some moris animation are currently fine. Few are excellent and two of them are just very underwhelming (Wraith and Trapper).
I would love a change for Wraith where he cuts a survivor's back open and break their spine in half as a reference to the way he killed Azarov.
The nurse is fine, her mori is fine. It's a reference to how she killed all the patients at the asylum.
But hell yes break my spine Bing bong boi
Edit : edited swear out, plus trapper could literally have a mori where he just tears the survivors in two -
Not all moris need be reworked though. Things such as Micheals, spirits, legions, come to mind. But having base moris for regular survivors and "extra" moris obsessions, is in a way more immersive? Think about It, when your obsessed with something you go out of your way for it. Plus it would make being the obsession (especially if randomly chosen) more interestingMilo said:Just rework some of the moris in general

@AlwaysInAGoodShape I wish the devs would implement this into the ptb for experimentation purposes so that even if it doesn't get implemented, atleast the idea is put across

can we make this happen to all davids.
i don't hate davids or anything i just think he's the only one myers would be jealous of, ya know, since he gets a shirtless cosmetic and all.

I stopped playing dbd between the spirit being released and legion being released due to me having university on and being dedicated to my studies. that being said despite acute toxicity and me being berated so bad in endgame chat once that i had to report, put a note on the forum and leave the game for a few days... That i love this game wholeheartedly, and that it is honestly one of the less toxic games i've played. OW which i have quit playing (excluding the very occasional friend calling me on to play) was far more toxic, and here in this dbd community i feel far more at home then i ever did there. i make friends atleast every few days playing dbd and even despite the toxicity, i return and return and return, because thats what this game does. it draws you in. and countless others i've met seem to feel that effect too. despite all the many issues with this game, we all love it not through any filtered lenses and have come to accept its issues. sure some of us may take to complain on the forums, but thats only because we love the game. we want to see its issues fixed. toxicity isin't an issue with the game, its an issue with us as people, any game on the internet is going to have toxicity and thats just due to the nature of being anonymous. sure there are some things that could be possibly done to lessen toxicity, like adding an endorsment system similar to ow, and punishing people who are toxic more harshly but for the most part it will always be there
And to be honest its fine by me.
Unsure if your post is legitimate or a bait. but i felt like getting that off my chest -
the Noed nerf seems good in retrospect and while i think that would make a great perk im not sure if i'd do that to my poor poor noed :'(
Maybe move noed to a offering, so its a one time use thing.
though when it comes to the adrenaline nerf tbh just nerfing the speed boost to 2s would be enough, the speed boost only helps when your just downed, and you can get up resetting the chase, or when your just injured and can go flying away.
That being said if you were to take away the speed boost, buff the living ######### out of hope
Hope : 10-15% extra speed for a minute. OR (which would be much more reasonable.) make the survivor 3-5% faster then the killers base speed that their vsing. right now hope is only really good against slow killers like hag, huntress, and m1 legions, (or brought alongside adrenaline) whereas this would make it so your slightly faster then all killers (not counting bloodlust or other factors.) -

Personally I would rather they just limit DS to the obsession, and if there are more instances of the perk in the group it just makes the skill check bigger by x% for each additional DS. A single DS from the obsession you can play around and such, but those non-obsession DS's can really REALLY hurt, more than the obsession one IMO. There is no reason a non-obsession should be allowed to use DS. And if the skill check is bigger it means that the obsession is more likely to hit it, which is ultimately what you want for the group. When the obsession misses their DS that's a huge deal, so making it easier to hit would still benefit the group. If you have to earn it or if it has some drawback like inflicting Broken won't change the fact that when someone hits you with it, it completely negates your momentum. From just 1 player this is enough to sway the game, and from 2 or more it's basically a guaranteed loss. Adding all this extra stuff won't fix that, you have to just take it away from non-obsessions to make it actually fair.
"But I'm solo, you're saying I might not get to use my perk?" Yes. If you want to use it then equip more obsession perks to make sure you are the obsession.
There are not enough perks in the game to garuntee being the obsession. so what your saying is that if atleast 3 people take the 3 obsession perks to try and use d strike, and two of them don't get it that means
2 people have a useless perk slot when it comes to themselves (and despite the outcrys of the many, the majority does play solo.) and one perk which can be hard to play around (Object of obsession) and i'd go as far as to say as can be on par with no mither at high ranks, along with yet another useless (in early game) perk of sole survivor, which yes can be extremely good paired with OOO but it requires others dying.
Your suggestion literally only will benefit a random player each match with the others suffering. its already easy enough to hit d strike, and its reasonably easy with practice to even hit a d strike effected by unnerving presence. Your solution nerfs the whole group mate. Only at high ranks do you have it benefit the whole team, with one player being able to gain huge momentum back for the whole team.
Your solution would only work if there was truly a way to guarantee picking the obsession over someone else, while communicating it to the other players. If the others who brought decisive strike, had an effect that was on par, but not as useful (for example a wiggle bar with 25% off (this would be a nerf as it takes you till 35% wiggle to then jump off whereas this would take you till 75% while auto jumping you off) and the obsession having a requirement to fullfill (getting an unhook, or being on their final hook) i would see that as an agreeable nerf.
The main problems with decisive strike, are how all 4 players can use it, the hidden nature for potentially 3 players to have it, how its super easy to pull off, and how you can combo it into other things (ie insta medkits.)
It feels unfair, but unlike noed there is no counter, even adrenaline suffers from the same issue of being a safe and free escape but atleast that's earned. Imo killer perks should be counterable, with survivor perks being earned, you shouldn't have to counter a survivor perk. -

@Maelstrom10with parts though a gen should never take more then 60-80 seconds to complete (this includes, building and installing time, not the time between benches and the actual gen as well as the time after all parts are installed.) but without atleast a single part there should be a efficiency penalty for toolboxes and time taken. i guess thats where a brand new part could come into play? @AlwaysInAGoodShape that a bnp toolbox would let you skip making one part (effectively the 10-20s of making one, and the transportation time)
Interesting. So indeed, there are a LOT more options on the table, especially when it comes to toolboxes. And with more freedom in exploring (hefty) generator regression there must be a way to turn even the toolbox gen-rushes into something that the killer will be at fault for.
BNP, (correct me if I'm wrong) adds 25%? If with my numbers from the OP you'd add 1 part instead, then that'd actually be very funcationl!
Normally it's "a chance" of adding 25% (skillchecks are not up to change in high level play) but in what you suggest it would be 15/80*100 = 18.75%.
Conceptually it also does make a lot of sense. Why not xDExactly! it would make bnp consistent in the case of it, though tbh the skillchecks are easy enough to hit that i think balancing it around 25% seems fair for an ultra rare, and maybe 10-15% for a rare (or just getting rid of the penalty on gens)
-
all this side quest stuff hurts my head. its not even the main discussion anymore XD
Anyways so long as its more powerful to take longer to do the gen (the parts system) and the killer can regress generators easier then im all for the system. oh and that we don't have to rely on parts if the killer can somehow camp all the tables (think hag and trapper, though speaking of which, the trapper should have more traps if a system like this is put in place, due to the fact he will need to protect quite a bit more.)
i also think the parts system would act as an off counter for nurse and billy, by giving them way more things they have to apply map pressure to at once. trapper and hag on the other hand, can have potentially quite a bit more map pressure then those two (situatonal but still.)
with parts though a gen should never take more then 60-80 seconds to complete (this includes, building and installing time, not the time between benches and the actual gen as well as the time after all parts are installed.) but without atleast a single part there should be a efficiency penalty for toolboxes and time taken. i guess thats where a brand new part could come into play? @AlwaysInAGoodShape that a bnp toolbox would let you skip making one part (effectively the 10-20s of making one, and the transportation time)
Edit: also add to toolboxes different parts addons that while not allowing you to completely skip making parts, make them far less mandatory allowing you to do a flat gen far easier - ie swivel sockets plus clean rag would be a good combo for doing a gen fast after atleast one part, but the instructions plus scrap/extra charges addons would essentially make the generator act as a flat generator does now -
@Cymer said:
I understand your concern.
To me, having a requirement for DS indirectly imply a multiple stacking and activation possibility for the perks. For every safe unhook or cleansed Hex, that would definitely be too much. Just imagine 16 DS in a game at max!
There are some late game playstyles on both sides and by making DS you shift the power towards the end game yes. But it would be a gamble. Will you or your team even reach the end game? Will you survive until the end of all 5 gens? Will you get caught? Does the killer have Rancor? You are taking huge risks and ifs and in that case the reward is justified. Then make it not stack...? like deliverence for example? which you can only use once and only before first hook? for example with d strike make it usable after second hook but only if you'd saved someone or someone has cleansed a totem within 64 meters of you/you cleansed a totem
-
i think what paddy means is for an actual second objective besides working on gens in any capacity. such as perhaps a pc that you need to find access codes for in lerys/the game in order to escape etc
-
That would just lead to free escapes for people gen rushing and make gen rushing even more meta. Make it have an actual requirement like a safe unhook, or cleansing a hex totemCymer said:Just make DS a late game perk. End of story.
You become the obsession. The killer has 5 gens time to kill you. If you survive that long you get almost a guaranteed win. There is a huge risk and huge reward attached and don't rob the momentum of a killer. -

Man everything you make I love, I always enjoy your posts because they're so intelligant and thought out. I really want this, I REALLY want this in the game, Territorial Imperative, like you said will get more use and could become a new Meta perk like Self-Care, not everyone runs it but it is always useful, also as a minor plus your crafting station fills up that other empty spot in the Basement where the chest doesn't spawn.Yeah he's a big brain, myers main after all :P
-
Also I'd like to add a suggestion to your idea @AlwaysInAGoodShape in that if we're to make parts at workbenches...
Workbenches shall not be lit nor shown to the killer, instead they will make sound similar to a chest. Killers can pull survivors "out" of workbenches, and once the work bench is exited it makes a notification (but not if the killers within terror radius or in a chase) Suvivors can carry up to two parts, but making a second while carrying one already will take a little longer, however being able to carry two parts will only be available when not already carrying an item. Therefore you can potentially carry two parts but sacrifice utility elsewhere. You will lose one upon being injured and another upon being downed (or you don't lose any until hooked unless the killer has Franklin's). You will always be able to carry one part and one item but never two items but might be able to carry two parts. This would combat a 3 gen strat by allowing one to stockpile parts while the killers camping a gen
In order to quickly use your parts on another gen potentially.
You could also add special utility workbenches that make "better parts" or produce a certain item (ie brand new part which can attach to a toolbox if you have one)
Survivors should have an offering to make more workbenches appear, and the killer to make them disappear. (Like chests)
Working on a part should reveal your Aura to other survivors once you've finished it. Similar to the notifcation for the killer but while the killer gets sound, survivors have to rely on a potential visual cue they might miss.
Edit : could also allow survivors to make an extra part and leave it on a workbench for another survivor to collect -
@Edys said:
The only moment where I would see those parts as useful, and non-disruptive, is if the game is stalled. Imagine a 2v1 / 1v1 situation, game is dragging on and no gen is nearing completion. Now could be the time to make parts available (to spawn, to build... whatever) - but even this could be exploitable if the trigger is a simple timer. You gave yourself the solution :P make the parts more effective at lower survivor counts, and after enough time has passed. therefore while not required to do initial gens (though it would obviously help and should be done to quicken gen progression) it would become far more vital for those in a perilous situation.
OR the requirement could instead be that you or someone else has to have been chased after the other two are dead in order for the parts to be made better/faster/stronger etc idrk -
this is honestly such a good suggestion i think i might nut to it.
jokes aside, if you wanted to make overwhelming presence good (the doctor one, with item consumption rates) you should make it have the opposite effect of working outside your terror radius, encouraging people to act within your terror radius and having that perk stopped for "15s" as you leave the terror radius. in return for the huge buff i'd nerf the rate by 25-50% -

Also you should say Flat Gens, not gens. Gens can also mean generators with Parts.
I asked google translate and Alexa what this meant and they both shrugged 🤷♂️
What he's refering to as a "flat gen" is doing a gen how we would now, and he's refering to the new gen system as Doing generators. he's essentially just refering to the old (or rather the current system) as flat gens

My posts don't need to be so long if people like you can read my mind (:
There are a lot of regression options that we can explore indeed. I didn't cover them here but what you mention could easily be possible and since you can move generators down to 10 seconds could hardly ever become problematic.
Thank you for taking time out of your day to acknowledge and discuss my ideas
its always great to see someone of a fellow mindset and i believe getting this discussion out there will perhaps allow the devs to see it and implement it, that being said, if they do implement it they should have old perks affect the part system (technician making part making silent, leader increasing part making speed, resilience etc, along with killer perks such as perhaps even ruin being updated, because well with the parts system, at high ranks, (12-20) ruin would probably decimate, along with the fact that it would possibly make using parts mandatory.) -
Upvoted. i really like this idea and completely agree with the idea that no action should be mandatory (beyond actually completing the generator that is) if anything, i think that gen times are already too long on their own with a single player working on them. that being said while i don't wish for longer gen times per say i do recognize that gens (collectively) go to fast. the parts system (when impacting the last survivor alive) essentially acts as a more cohesive "left behind" (bills perk) where gen speeds increase (and if im following correctly) can no longer regress past a certain point. im supremely down for that, and i think along with that buff of allowing people to stop gens regressing past a certain percent, we should buff the amount taken off a gen by a killers kick (but increase the time to kick a gen (atleast in a chase) so killers have to choose to kick them in chases). so long as there is an infinite ability to make parts at different locations, and those locations are limited in nature, then im all for it. along with the fact that this would effectively increase generator times by putting the survivors in a situation where they likely need to go get a part then i love the idea (ie gens take longer without them then they do now.)
I'd also like to add onto the killer buff/nerf to kicking i mentioned earlier, that adding very slight (1% per like 5-10s sort of slow) degeneration to gens when no ones working on them after a certain amount of time would be extremely nice, meaning that if the killer moves you off a generator, it will very very slowly regress, (percent of degeneration should be far slower then if the killer kicks it to still motivate them to kick it, yet still be helpful if the killer can apply extraordinary map pressure)
Hell maybe build in overcharge but make it a regular skill check, and buff the perk by making it soundless or smaller -

I'm glad someone finally said to earn their D-Strike besides me, I've yet to see an actual thread with it, just in the comments. I ''liked'' your post now, also great job expanding it with other examples of Adrenaline, a lot of Killers hate that perk but that heal is earned it's not free.I've actually seen a few threads with it and its honestly a good idea and needs to be brought up in discussion
my original idea wasn't supposed to be a full fix for d strike, since i disagree that it should be nerfed per say so much as limited in use (and that the way it can combo into things can reset chases) but your idea of restricting it and giving it a requirement is tbh what i've been wanting for a long time -
I think a good dbd event would be one where we can explore the entity. a story event if you will, whether as killer or survivor, playing against ai or not, i think it would be a good way to deposit a huge lore dump, whilst possibly adding a way to play alone. I don't know how this would work gameplay wise, but im honestly just wanting something to explore dbd wise. maybe make it a coop mode, where people can opt in to play with friends or others as killer/survivor against each other. whilst also gaining access to a new map with valid lore and reasoning. ie having a lone trapper hunting down vigo, whilst vigo tries to make a discovery etc etc

About as useful as long life/low amp, however people discount it due to the "1.2s blind time for all flashlights" odd/halogen with an exhaustion perk plus lightweight can make for easy escapes

I think a voting system would be beneficial yeah. Except you shouldn't be able to see the exact results of it and it should non specific and have no negative options, or even a blank option for if you don't want to actually vote for someone similar to ow.
Make it give very slight rewards for both voting for someone, and for maintaining good reputation. Small enough/random enough that people won't be begging for good rep, but large enough that people will give credit to good survivors/killers. Turning into a snowball perk is a bad idea. At best, you should be able to get your token bonuses sooner, such as reducing it to 3 tokens.
It is not a snowball perk though.
Brutal strength gives you 20% pallet break and generator damage anyway.
Bamboozle gives you 15% vault speed and on top of that you block the window.
This perk kind of combines these 2 perks but it costs you time. Instead of getting the bonuses early in the game, you get them later but in turn you save a perk slot for yourself. In order to do that, you need to perform well.
Current Fire up is worse imo because it is kind of a comeback mechanism. If a survivor loops you for 3 generators you get rewarded for your bad gameplay. My version rewards you if you can do well.
Even if it is a snowball perk, I rather have snowball perks than comeback perks like NOED, DS etc.
Tbh i quite like comeback perks if there done well. ds and noed are obviously poor examples, but i'd actually say fire up would be a good example if it was buffed. it reduces pressure on lower gen counts, by increasing action speed, however it doesn't truly (or atleast on its own) have much of an effect on chases (expecially without bamboozle or brutal strength to back it up. i think a numbers buff, or giving it more versatility in its action speed would allow for more comebacks however there should be a way to counter it. perhaps having the perk wear off after all gens are done, or having it work on a token system where at high gen counts it has a seperate effect to low gen counts? for example at high gens (5-4) you have higher action speed bonus as usual, but at lower gen counts, those bonuses get phased out, for better missed attack/hit cooldown's (essentially stbfl and unrelenting?) and pallet/vault speed. Basically you have high versatility at the start of the match, but more power towards the end?
