  • Your feedback is to essentially delete the entire killer and create a new one and thus belongs in the trash

  • This is a buff to NOED

NOED is fine, if you don't have time to cleanse totems and then get destroyed by NOED then you are bad (killer had only 3 perks to pressure you) and deserve to die

If you have time to do totems but don't do them then it's your own fault

If you are unsure whether or not you have destroyed all totems then you can just hide by the exit gate, wait for the killer to check it and then open it instead of tanking a hit and then finishing the open

Same goes for the last generator, don't tank a hit, finish the generator to proc Adrenaline and then cry when you die to NOED. Finish the generator when the killer leaves and then hide

There are many ways to play around NOED, if you refuse to adapt then you deserve to die

Idc what the rules are, he isn't harming anyone so it's fine for me. Some rules are stupid, others aren't. Use your brain or are you eating everything what someone with higher authority puts on your plate?

You can choose to not follow the rules but then you will get banned and people will laugh at you when you come to cry about it here

A bunch of people were warning the community and the devs that allowing certain people to DC on their streams was going to trickle down and make the dc issue worse. And look at where we are now... it's worse. Compounded by the fact that the piping system and queues are ######### for killers at red ranks.... deranking to get games instead of deranking to get easier games (or as these dc'ers said a variety of killers) is completely different.

Either way the DC issue is a problem. But don't forget why it started.

    Streamers aren't allowed to DC

They are not given preferential treatment regarding bans or disconnects

    Stop spreading lies

  • @Someissues said:

Yep I also have started to DC now since it is the only way to Derank, even playing bad I get safely pip as Killer, its a joke the current system

not to mention I get no rewards being at Rank 1 and gets punished with High Queue Time

AND there is no statement from the devs or the community managers regarding this awful situation for highrank players

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Besides the initial "complaint's" that got him hit a week in to release, the issue's that were changed:

*You would have to wake up a downed survivor before healing them.

    *There was no Adrenaline Wake-up.

*There was no phasing during transition. (Apparently, i can't remember seeing this in game, but people back then complained about it.)

*There was no slow down once someone was "slept".

*There was no HUD indication of who was asleep.

As you can see, not much really and the actual changes were more Quality Of Life than anything. Anything else is really just pointing out how survivors weren't willing to try against Freddy, but that's not what you asked for, so i'll stop there.

    His terror radius was increased

  • Break the totems

Don't try to tank a hit when the gates are powered, instead wait for the killer go somewhere else or wait for someone else to get hit to check for NOED

    Trivial to counter

  • @KillermainBTWm8 said:

If you get banned for disconnecting then the next time you load up dead by daylight it will redirect you to Civ

Fun fact: You can probably play an entire Civ match while waiting for a lobby to fill

  • @NoShinyPony said:

The downside is probably supposed to be that you are more likely to suffer from the killer's obsession perks (if they use one). You make yourself the target of Rancor etc.

Compensated by the fact that the obsession icon on the player bar shows when the obsession is in a chase which is very useful information to have

Killer obsession perks also all suck

  • @NoShinyPony said:

@Saint_Ukraine The aura reading only activates if the surv decides to heal. Since a lot of players don't heal because of efficiency, especially in the later stages of a match, there isn't a real downside to this perk. It's surely not a perk for everybody but a powerful one for good loopers.

If you never heal during a match then the Mettle Of Man effect is equivalent to healing exactly once during the match, your injured state that procs Mettle Of Man is comparable to the healthy state in that case. Except you are injured so you are easier to find (bleeding, noise) and you have anti-synergy with a lot of other perks (Self-Care, We'll Make It, Adrenaline, Autodidact, ...).

Using a perk slot to avoid healing once is a horrible trade-off. In the specific situation you describe Mettle Of Man is one of the worst perks in the game. Pretty much every other perk is more valuable than healing exactly once.

  • Report them for exploiting, because that's what it is

  • @NoShinyPony said:

If the devs changed the pipping system, we would have a better effect. I don't want to go back to the old system, because that was too easy. We need something in between the old and the current system.

With the old matchmaking and ranking system we already know that matchmaking can take upwards of 30 minutes at high ranks, especially in the days after rank reset. Any change that makes ranking up harder, even if it is easier than the pre-revert iteration (the new one) will still have catastrophic effects on wait times. The top priority should be getting the matchmaking to a state where anyone can find games in a reasonable amount of time. Your suggestion is the correct answer to a different problem, how do we make the ranking system more fair?, but it will not fix the problem for high rank players who cannot get into a game.

  • Started a lobby. After an hour it closed "due to a technical error" and told me to try again.

After waiting for half an hour in the new lobby the game crashed.

Thanks for this fantastic decision to revert the matchmaking, STILL without an explanation why that was necessary and why I am now no longer allowed to play the game at rank 1 because the lobby times of the old matchmaking make it impossible to do so.

  • @Master said:

@Madjura Before coming up with such conspiracy, inform yourself better.

Steam only allows refunds on games, there are no refunds for DLCs. (your link is stating that btw)

"DLC purchased from the Steam store is refundable within fourteen days of purchase, and if the underlying title has been played for less than two hours since the DLC was purchased, so long as the DLC has not been consumed, modified or transferred. Please note that in some cases, Steam will be unable to give refunds for some third party DLC (for example, if the DLC irreversibly levels up a game character). These exceptions will be clearly marked as nonrefundable on the Store page prior to purchase."

The link is stating that DLC is refundable. Chapters are DLC. You can refund a chapter within fourteen days of purchase or if you have played Dbd for less than two hours since purchasing the chapter.

  • Bonus fun fact: Steam allows you to refund DLC (https://store.steampowered.com/steam_refunds/).

If you were rank 1 before you bought the latest chapter you would be unable to try the new killer before the two hour window that lets you refund the DLC ends (as per Steam store policies) because you can't get into a game as rank 1 killer after only waiting for 2 hours.

At least the explanation for why the matchmaking was reverted is good so it's all fine. Oh wait, there isn't one. Thanks Community Managers! Is it your fault? Probably not. But you are the ones who post dev statements after big changes such as this one, and considering that this latest change makes it so people are literally unable to play there should be a statement explaining why that change was made. But (at the time of writing) no such statement exists, just a note saying it will come later this week. Maybe you don't know why it was reverted because no one told you. In which case you should go get that information ASAP. If you are unable to get a statement out of the devs (because they decline to comment or whatever) I have to question why your jobs even exist in the first place, considering that people being unable to play is a pretty big deal and it should be easy to get answers from the developers as to why they thought making this change was a good idea. In other words, if you are reading this before the matchmaking is reverted back to a state where highrank players can actually play the game or an explanation why that change was made is out, get off the forums and talk to the devs to get that explanation.

  • Because of changes in ranking up, there's no survivors in red ranks.

Literally impossible to play as high rank killer due to the revert to the old matchmaking

  • Calling it now: Lobby fills after 8 hours of waiting, but the game freezes during loading.

  • This situation is disgusting. It was EASILY foreseeable, lobby times at high ranks were already utter ######### even with the old system and now ranking up was made harder which just amplifies the problem massively. And there STILL is no statement about why it was disabled. Community Managers, if you are reading this: Stop wasting time on the forums and get an explanation out! I want to know WHY I am no longer allowed to play at rank 1 (due to MASSIVE wait times) and when I can finally play again!

  • I am rank 1 killer under the new, harsher rank system. Maybe if I start a lobby right now it might be full when I come back from work tomorrow. Thanks for reverting to the old garbage system devs! At least your explanation for why you did it is goo- oh wait, that comes later during the week. Marvelous! With how utterly awful the wait times in the old matchmaking were at high ranks maybe your explanation will come before my rank 1 killer lobby fills up. Probably not though.

  • We know how godawful the old matchmaking system was for wait times at high ranks. (wait times of 30+ minutes)

Now we also have a harsher ranking system that makes reaching high ranks more difficult thus making the wait times even worse.

WHY WOULD YOU REVERT THE MATCHMAKING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SEASON? I am at rank 1 as killer (on PC, EU). I will now be unable to play the game (in fact I have already tried, enormous wait times, I gave up because no one was joining for a long time). WHY? The matchmaking WORKED. People could play. Yes, lowranks who previously got instant games had to wait for 2-3 minutes BUT HIGHRANK PLAYERS ACTUALLY GOT TO PLAY THE GAME. Now it's back to being impossible. I can't even derank BECAUSE I CAN'T PLAY. This is such an idiotic change. At the VERY LEAST you should have disabled the matchmaking and triggered a new season manually (rank reset) so people can play (or added an optional button to trigger the rank reset manually, once for this season only).

Again, I CAN'T PLAY ANYMORE DUE TO BEING HIGHRANK. THIS SHOULD NEVER BE THE CASE.

Maybe there is a good reason to disable it but you should have an explanation ready, not sometime later in the week when I can't play NOW!

What if adrenaline was just a obsession perk, where the obssesion gets healed and the others just get the speed boost?

Could be interesting if there were more "obsession switching" perks (or a mechanic in the game you can use without running specific perks) so you can steal the obsession status to get the full effect while everyone else hates you because they only get the speed effect. Probably too weak though

  • If the killer is bad and you think they have NOED you do totems or play stealthy when there's only one gen left to do, as in, don't be in a chase when the last gen pops and don't open the exit gate when the killer is nearby. NOED is trivial to counter in that case

If the killer is good and you can't cleanse totems before NOED activates because everyone is dying then congratulations, you are bad and losing to a killer that is playing with only three perks and you deserve to die

Adrenaline isn't an issue, the fact that hooks heal survivors is (dying state -> injured when unhooked which is equivalent to being healed up from dying state). You basically get two health states if Adrenaline activates while you are on the hook or being carried there. The only other way to heal for two health states instantly is the ultra-rare syringe addon, except Adrenaline on a hook is stronger than that because someone else has to use the syringe on you for you to get the two health states, and it doesn't give you a free Sprint Burst effect. Adrenaline activating off-hook is fine considering it only activates at the end of the game

The ideal counterplay to Adrenaline when you down someone with only one generator left is to NOT pick them up if you think the generator will pop soon. Instead you should leave them downed, wait for Adrenaline to activate and immediately down them. THEN hook them. Hooking someone should never be bad (even if in certain situations it's not the ideal play) but healing hooks + Adrenaline make it so.

  • Devs have confirmed that this will never happen

@Madjura Several people explained in the closed thread why that aura reveal is not a massive downside. And besides the aura reveal, there isn't another "downside".

Permanent unilateral aura reveal is in fact so strong that the closest thing to it in the game is a killer power that has massive downsides, Freddy's power, and is actually weaker than the Mettle Of Man aura reveal because Freddy's terror radius is greater than 16m. Object Of Obsession is NOT comparable because you control when you are revealed and you see the killer.

The closest things to the positive effect are Borrowed Time (can only be applied to others) and Dead Hard. Dead Hard is far superior to the Mettle Of Man effect because it can trigger multiple times.

Mettle Of Man however can be used with an Exhaustion perk other than Dead Hard. So you can go exhaustion perk + Mettle Of Man to get a once-per-game Dead Hard plus the exhaustion perk, or Dead Hard + Mettle Of Man to get a second Dead Hard in a chase, once. Or you can go no exhaustion perk + Mettle Of Man to get a once-per-game Dead Hard, in which case you should just use Dead Hard instead of Mettle Of Man. In any case you are using a perk slot to get a once-per-game Dead Hard effect with a downside.

The upside of Mettle Of Man is a once-per-game Dead Hard (technically it's worse because you can't use it to dodge traps). The downside is giving the killer an effect that is so strong that a weaker version of it is only allowed to exist as a killer power with severe downsides.

And that's why Mettle Of Man is trash.

  • @Free_Hugs said:

Balance Landing reads "add 8 seconds to a chase"

MoM reads "add 22 seconds to a chase"

It is a lot easier to get to the next pallet or jungle gym with 22 extra seconds instead of 8 and MoM is essentially unconditional and unavoidable compared to the very specific trigger areas for balanced landing on any given map.

Works only once per game, has a massive downside, has anti-synergy with a lot of perks if you want to avoid the aura reveal by not healing

@Nickenzie Seeing the survivor's aura doesn't mean that you are able to use Rancor. The killer can only focus on one thing. If the killer is already busy, then he's busy.

Besides, if the surv doesn't heal, the aura effect will not activate. In lots of games survivors aren't even healing, because it's more efficient to just stay injured and rush gens.

If you don't heal at all during the game then running Mettle Of Man is equivalent to not running Mettle Of Man and healing exactly once (because it essentially gives you a second injured state). In other words you trade a perk slot to save the time it would take to heal yourself (or be healed by someone else) once.

That's not even taking into account the prerequisite of being hit three times by basic attacks first or the anti-synergy with a lot of perks (and medkits): Adrenaline and Self-Care (and medkits) will cause you to be revealed so you don't really want to run them together with Mettle Of Man, any healing perk on another survivor that wants to heal you is wasted (We'll Make It, Autodidact, Botany Knowledge, ...) and how it's a dead perk against killers with the ability to instantly down you.

  • @HazeHound said:

Doesnt it work in terror radius only? I already like to play perma tier3 with dead rabbit on 3gen. Can be fine addition.

Yes it will only affect survivors inside your terror radius, so if you use add-ons / perks that increase your terror radius (you mostly want the increase in tier3 as you mentioned) then you can chain survivors. Kind of like a mini-Legion, but with instadowns.

  • @Bravo0413 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/375468#Comment_375468

No it doesn't negate abilities... so if a Billy or LF uses their chainsaw on you from the start it doesn't count 1 hit towards the 3 needed to activate.. samething goes for hatchets.. at least that's my understanding of the perk atm...

What's meant by that is that if you get to the 3 stacks (from regular attacks only) you can tank a chainsaw hit, but only if you get hit while injured. If you are downed from full health (Exposed, chainsaws) then it never activates.

  • The perk is going to come out in months and its probably just being tested now.

Agreed, it needs to be buffed. The leaked iteration is garbage. Just use Dead Hard.

If you get hit you get a free health state.

If the killer hits you again before you get to a pallet and you go down, the perk deactivates.

Meaning in that scenario there is no negative. No downside. Nada.

It's a free health state with no downside at all. Unless you manage to get away, and heal up.

This will be the perk all the deranking twitch squads take at rank 15 to bully killers.

Use it to loop the killer all game, or if they manage to get away use it to tbag the killer from afar while they wait next to a broken loop like rancid abbatoir window.

    >If you get hit you get a free health state.

No, you have to be hit by basic attacks three times first, and then you have to go from the injured state to the dying state for it to activate. If you get hit thrice and then go down instantly (chainsaws, NOED, ...) it won't activate.

    >If the killer hits you again before you get to a pallet and you go down, the perk deactivates.

I don't know what this is supposed to mean. Do you mean when the aura reveal is active it deactivates? Or maybe it was a typo and you meant "activates"

    >Meaning in that scenario there is no negative. No downside. Nada.

Having to use a perk slot is in itself a negative. The free hit also has a prerequisite and is once-per-game. There are perks that are stronger than a single free hit (that has a prerequisite, is once-per-game and has a massive downside attached).

    >This will be the perk all the deranking twitch squads take at rank 15 to bully killers.

Irrelevant, organized SWF teams that intentionally depip to stay in low ranks to play against lowrank killers will always be heavily advantaged regardless of perks

    >Use it to loop the killer all game, or if they manage to get away use it to tbag the killer from afar

You have a very unhealthy obsession with tbagging. It's completely irrelevant to the strength of the perk.

    > while they wait next to a broken loop like rancid abbatoir window.

Cool, in that case they are not repairing a generator. You know where they are so you can just kill everyone else.

  • >This IS a free health state too. It activates on an attack that should put you in the dying state, so you're basically going from dying state -> injured. The killer gets the weapon cooldown animation. That slows them down a lot. It's like a short stun.

See my previous post for an explanation why it's not the same. Old DS gave you the weapon cooldown animation as well, plus the other things I listed

    >Again the aura isn't a downside for good toxic survivors against weak killers.

You know where they are. They don't know from where you are coming from until you are close. You can approach from where you can cut off their path to beneficial areas

    >Now they can tbag you though from across the map. This is what they want. They didn't use OoO so they could see you, they used it so you could see them so that you could see them tbagging.

This is about the fourth time you are bringing up tbagging. It has absolutely no bearing on balance and is completely irrelevant in regards to the strength of the perk

    >Saying they can't heal as well....umm in case you haven't noticed that's the current meta. Rush gens while injured, use resilience, then have adrenaline for that endgame heal.

And if they don't heal then that's like playing with permanent Exposed. Adrenaline will reveal their aura (technically Mettle Of Man but Adrenaline will trigger that perk due to the heal)

    >Toxic survivors will have no issues running this perk and I'd expect it to be used by the vast majority of them.

Good because it's a terrible perk, will make games easier and then all of them stop running it because they realize how bad it is

  • @NoShinyPony said:

@Madjura That why I wrote that I constantly looked at the killer, The killer knew the entire time where I was and what I was doing. But they decided not to chase me because a killer can only do one thing at a time.

You can absolutely compare it to Freddy. He sees the survivors, they don't see him. Is he still the weakest killer by far? Yes, he is.

    >But they decided not to chase me because a killer can only do one thing at a time.

More like because there were easier targets that did not see them coming towards themself

    >You can absolutely compare it to Freddy.

I was refering to comparing OoO and Mettle Of Man, not X and Freddy (I don't know what you think I was refering to)

    >He sees the survivors, they don't see him.

And it's super easy to wake up, once you wake up it takes too long to fall asleep again and the Dream World is too dark.

    > Is he still the weakest killer by far?

Trapper and Leatherface are both worse

  • >Toxic survivors will love this against freddy, pig or LF becauae those 3 can get loope for days. As long as you're near pallets you're safe

Pallets are finite, if they stay only in areas with pallets then they can't repair

    >AND they can see you tbagging from across the map.

    This is still irrelevant

    >Again if aura reading was a huge downside then freddy would be considered a good killer. Hint: he's not.

I play a lot of Freddy. The main issues with Freddy are that the Dream World is too dark, that falling asleep takes too long and it's too easy to wake up. Permanent aura reveal is one of the strongest effects in the game

  • >DS was essentially "one free hit", didn't stop it from becoming overused and extremely powerful. Imagine all 4 running this.

No DS was much better than that because it stunned the killer and healed you one health state (dying -> injured). The Mettle Of Man extra hit is not the same as the DS "healing" because the killer doesn't waste time picking you up, you can't be flashlight saved or go down under a pallet or be healed with an instaheal (or rather you can be but then your aura is permanently revealed). DS also had no massive downside

    >You chase a survivor through 3 pallets, finally get a hit in and it doesn't count, now you gotta go through 3 more pallets to get them down. Throw in dead hard too and that's another few pallets free. Imagine if you get a hit just before they get to the torment creek, wretched shop, or abbatoir window loop. Yoi've essentially just lost that survivor unless you commit to chasing them around a game ending loop.

Except they can't heal or they will have their aura revealed. If they don't heal to avoid the aura reveal then it's as if they are playing the rest of the game with the Exposed status effect on them

  • @NoShinyPony said:

@Madjura Permanent aura reveal is not that immense problem that you think it is. I played enough games with OoO while constantly looking at the killer.

OoO reveals you only when you want it and it shows the killer to you so you know when and from where the killer is coming. You can't compare the two perks

  • >It's still a free escape with no requirements. The survivor gets free health state

Using a perk slot to get one free hit is a horrible deal.

    > [...] with no counterplay at all simply because they made a perk choice before the game

You can camp them to death if you are so afraid of a once-per-game Dead Hard effect with a massive downside. The perk will also not get stacks from Huntress hatchets, chainsaw hits, bear traps

    >Chases are meant to last 40 seconds....apparantly. Imagine how long you could draw it out with this and dead hard.

You can just not continue the chase when it trigger and the survivor can't heal or they have their aura revealed

    >As for the aura reading sure it's going to be bad against Nurse, but for any of the low to mid tier killers? Just take them on a tour of pallet town. Make them waste the game.

Pallets are limited resource and you can go after them when they are not near any. The survivors won't know which direction you are coming from. They can never unhook (because you can intercept them), they can never heal someone else (because from their animation you will now know where two survivors are), they can never get the hatch (because once you down the second to last survivor you go after them instead of killing that survivor)

    >Toxic survivors who can loop well used to bring object of obsession anyway. They aren't afraid of the aura reading one bit because it's so easy to kite the weaker killers from pallet to pallet

Bad comparison because they won't see your aura

    >Thwy want you to see their aura though because they want to be able to tbag you non-stop.

    Irrelevant

  • @NoShinyPony said:

@Madjura I think the wording is more tricky in this case. Of course I can be wrong. Maybe let's agree on that it is not absolutely clear. After we've seen it in game, we'll know for sure.

But even if your aura is permanently revealed, it still sounds like a super strong perk, especially for the end game and for survivors who don't mind getting chased.

No it's definitely permanent, it is very clear.

Permanent aura reveal is a major drawback, it means you can never unhook someone (unless the killer lets you, for whatever reason), healing someone will reveal the location of two survivors (killer can see you are healing someone from your animation), Rancor will absolutely destroy you, the killer can just ignore you and then down the second to last survivor and kill you without you having any chance to get the hatch.

Massive drawback for an effect that is essentially just a once-per-game Dead Hard.

  • @NoShinyPony said:

@thesuicidefox The wording is "The next time you heal back to full health, your aura will be revealed..."

That sounds like a precise point of time to me. If it wasn't the case, they would have worded it like "After you are healed back to full health, your aura will be permanently revealed..."

All aura reveals without a time given are permanent, see Bond, Empathy. Your aura will be revealed until you are downed again.

  • A new killer just came out, wait times for killer are always longer when that happens. Before at high ranks after a new chapter it wasn't uncommon to have to wait for 30 minutes to get a game. The matchmaking evens out the time you have to wait and yes, that means you might have to wait a bit longer than before but it also means you will never have to wait for excessive amounts of time.

Do you really think it will only work with normal attacks? This will probably the first mechanic for which instantdowns count as 2 attacks. Its more likely to scan the healthstate.

The way it is worded it will definitely only work on regular attacks and instadowns won't count as two attacks

It's almost like being injured isn't scary, and trust me. People will figure out ways to make it strong. This perk as potential. With MoM assuming best possible scenario, you could eat quite a few hits.

Hit, Dead Hard, Hit, MoM, Hit, BT, DS.

If you don't heal yourself it's comparable to playing against permanent NOED. If you heal yourself you turn every killer into pre-nerf Freddy except you are also permanently asleep. The perk doesn't get stacks if you get downed from hatchets, chainsaws or traps (and the list will grow as more killers that don't rely on basic attacks to down survivors are released). Massive downsides for an effect that is essentially Dead Hard, once per game.

    Just use Dead Hard instead.

  • @Ihatelife said:

You need to get 3 hits. And also this perk resets when you get downed. No thanks.

And it doesn't get stacks from attacks that aren't regular attacks: Chainsaws, Huntress hatchets, Legion will not give you any stacks

Rancor annihilates it too. You can either not heal yourself for the rest of the game, so you can also not run Adrenaline, or you WILL get mori'd.

    • gives you one additional hit per game (Dead Hard gives you many additional hits)
    • turns the killer into pre-nerf Freddy if you heal yourself (except better than that because they don't have to deal with the Dream World)

    Upsides:

    • can use both it and Dead Hard
    • if you never heal yourself it's kind of like running a horrible version of No Mither and Dead Hard but you only need to use one perk instead of two
    • if you somehow manage to not get downed at all during the trial until the very end when the exit gates are open you can get an escape you wouldn't otherwise (though you have to accomplish this with only three perks)
    • it's fun to watch people cry about a horrible perk that isn't even out or officially revealed in any way

    Conclusion:

    Run Dead Hard instead

Is it not better to be slugged and have your fellow survivors pick you uo than to be hooked repeatedly?

+ Unbreakable and Tenacity become better

    Monstrous Shrine always does something.

Knock Out does nothing if the person you downed is in SWF. Knock Out does nothing if a survivor has Empathy. Knock Out does nothing against Aftercare. Knock Out is signifcantly worse if the person you downed has Unbreakable, No Mither or Tenacity.

A perk that has a bad effect will always be better than a perk that can be turned into a literal "Waste a perk slot." perk by using game mechanics (SWF). You could go into a game against four survivors that have no perks and yet Knock Out will have no effect.

I guess you didn't play around with it enough then.

You can make Knock Out work if you build around it, even with all those possibilities stacked against you.

Please explain how you can counter Empathy let alone a SWF team telling each other where they are downed in such a way that the effect of Knock Out is meaningful. Any perks / addons you use in those situations to make Knock Out work would perform as well as if you did not run Knock Out.
