I'm glad this thread is still going. It's a wierd solidarity to see everyone come together over something, even driven by pure, undiluted hate.

Do you know if there is a way to reduce latency so that hits don't mostly look bad?
Yes. Rip up all the internet lines in the world and replace them with massive fibre optic trunks with those new light spectrum splitter things from Australia that really made me both drool and question my understanding of the physics behind transmitting information along basic fibre optic cables. If only I wasn't so bad with nouns I could be more specific.
Short of that? No, even in shooters melee hits look wierd when you're dealing with the kind of ping that DbD has (due to a lower playerbase count and less competitive nature). The AI that's trying to show us the position of other people in the game has too much information to sort out that you don't really see in other titles, mostly because other titles have much more limited movement either because people are shooting each other or because of physical limitations in movement and turn speed. The only time, for example, that survivor motion has felt okay on the killers end since killers stopped hosting the trials in the P2P system was when survivor's directional movement was so slow and agonising it made my survivor ques jump down to 30 seconds.
Edit: Which is an annoying flipside to the argument because I CAN'T PLAY BILLY BECAUSE BACKREVS ARE BASICALLY RNG FOR ME. Gods I wish there was some way to improve the predictive AI but I honestly don't see it happening.
-
You really don't understand the concept of "latency" or "objectives".
Imagine if you were doing a generator and it suddenly blinked out of existence and reappeared in another tile and half of your progress was gone. Now imagine that happening every time you go to work on a generator.
-
Ignore strong loopers. And W holders. And predroppers. And people who play safe. Basically, only chase people who are bad at the game but don't know it.

It's either one or the other, nerf her base or nerf her add-ons.
People rightfully fear what BHVR will do to her. She doesn't need much to be better.
Given that Doctor, Blight and Plague all have better, more game-changing add-ons, it's pretty clear what the issue is.

I think her add-ons need changing but overall her power does not need to be touched.
A killer who has been complained about as one of the least healthy killers in the game, whose power is the ability to make everyone and anyone stupid by virtue of never giving any information or indicator on what she is doing while having all the information she could possibly need and more, who has been acknowledged by most as requiring very little skill in comparison to her reward, is healthy?

Sometimes they can, sure. In that case you at the very least probably wasted a fair amount of time for their trip back to the item. It also gives you a chance to intercept them while they try, because survivors often will beeline for their items once they get unhooked. Taking advantage of this to down that survivor again is honestly the opposite of throwing the game; tunneling is of course super helpful if you want to win.
There has not been a single time where a killer has used that perk against me where it did anything other than waste a perk slot. I'm not using my experience as a killer here, but as a survivor.
Franklin's. Does. Nothing. Every example you are using will lose the killer the trial. Wasting time harassing a key on the ground? Yes please, that's 3 gens done for free. Bless AU servers in the evenings. Bye bye killer.

Well, right, but you don't know your item disappeared until they hit you. Survivors aren't often going to take the "Let's just drop the key in a corner" approach unless they know for sure the killer has Franklin's.
I'm not saying Franklin's is strong per se and I personally don't run it much even against keys, but it doesn't do nothing either. At the very least it typically wastes time and sometimes it'll also remove items from the game.
They can go back to their item very easily, pick it up, and if they want to put it back down in the exact same place. There is literally nothing stopping them from doing that except a killer who will throw the game to burn a key. In which case the key still did its job.
-
@[Deleted User] said:

Well that's assuming the survivor knows the killer has Franklin's; if there's no Franklin's you'd obviously prefer to keep your key to use the aura reading, have it ready when you need it, and prevent a teammate from picking it up. Most teams aren't four-man SWFs and will not be able to communicate that the killer has Franklin's, rotate to save teammates' items, etc.
It's pretty obvious the killer has Franklin's when your item disappeared. All you have to do is pick it up and put it down again. It's not like the killer will be camping it unless they... You know, absolutely suck and don't want to win but instead want to BM.

Actually, it would punish bad survivors the most. Not that I necessarily think it's the best solution, predropping and holding W needs addressing in a proper manner.

Blight can still 180 by pairing successive 90 degree flicks i.e. Flicking your camera 90 degress whilst rushing and then flicking them another 90 whilst lunging. There's other methods I hear but that's probably the simplest one to perform. When they say buffs, I think they might mean that it's actually MORE difficult to counter a 180 Blight flick as the lunge goes wide now. As such, it's more likely to land. At least, that's the word on the street. Haven't actually tested it myself. I'm not nearly good enough at Blight to 180 consistently, lol.
The lunge doesn't go wide, people somehow sucked at using an exploit and had to have it made even easier for them. And since it's still an exploit, I'm not counting it and neither should anyone else.
-
Buffs? What buffs? Are you talking about how he's now almost playable on console? No, because he still has counterplay, like any and every killer should.
-
It sounds like you understand her quite well. She's a weak killer. Either you're fine with that and will play her, or you're not.
-
He's not the worst, but he's pretty damn close. Every other m1 killer does something better than him, and most do multiple things better - Legion starts of quick and snowballs/stalls the game brilliantly. And they have a smaller model. And massive info gathering. Pig has built in slowdown and better stealth potential. Clown has a much better chase. Wraith has mobility and stealth. Ghostface has stealth and a much better early game, and also better instadowns. Freddy can teleport and place snares and is easy.
Myers just starts off really slow and doesn't have much of a power. Oh no, instadowns and a small TR, whatever will I - oh, there's pallets and windows. Guess I'll use them. What's that? The pallets are all gone? Then the game is ######### over, let's just leave.
-
Because it's a fun game, I've invested a lot of time and money into it, and I want it to be the best version of itself so that it can be a fun and enjoyable horror-themed experience.
-
If it's the right play, I do it. If it's not, I don't.
-
Constantine. But the good version, not the Keanu Reeves one. Which I guess is a TV licence (or comic, but the comic/TV characters are nearly identical), but still. Go scumbag warlock.
-
I'd love a Banshee from Mass Effect. Actually, it could be a Nurse skin.
-
I play both sides and ######### everything. My ability to give a shite has been temporarily misplaced. Something about going from a killer trial getting flamed for using slowdown perks and into a survivor trial getting flamed for using ######### OoO of all things... Nope. Don't care. Uh-uh. My empathy has grown legs and walked off. I'mma do whatever I want and I don't care. I wish I could use Old DS on Spirit.
-
Some killers are in need of work. Spirit, for example, while taking a much needed niche as a top killer, is ridiculously easy for her strength and most of that is because as well as insane mobility and the ability to phase directly on top of people, her power is designed to make people stupid.
Hag, another example, is a facecamping machine. No good Hag relies on hook traps, they just set them to waste a little time, so that's an easy fix.
Blight, my once beloved... Yeah, no, he's pretty much fine outside of the 180.
Nurse... Girl, there is no way to nerf you without turning you into hot trash, so for the time being you can stay. But I don't like you. Screechy #########.

As far as Legion goes, though, Dying Light + Thanatophobia with Mangled Add-on is meta.
Thana maybe, but I've not seen anyone using dying light, on any character, in more than a year.

Yep. However, full solo lobbies are quite rare. Usually there's at least a 2-person SWF in there.

Saying PH cannot be looped speaks volumes about your poor attitude when facing him. Keep on the good work.
Really? You're actually serious about this, aren't you? His power is the ability to hit you at pallets and windows.
I really, really want your PH's. They must be genuinely terrible, going for trick shots and whatnot instead of taking guaranteed hits. This is like someone claiming you can loop Nurse.

His powers more than a free first hit it can do a lot more.
Also I understand the concept of a stealth killer and it just so happens one side has a 3rd person camera with a wide FOV meaning at most places that dont have high walls its likely you can easier see him coming + you have some indication of where that will be from perks or where other survivors have been hooked but thats not the point.
The counterplay to it is really just paying attention and inferring what is likely to happen and in your head planning your route the problem is and i dont mean this as a insult to survivors i play a lot of the role most players once there on a gen don't forward think we are all guilty of turning off and just hitting skill checks But stealth killers punish that and tbh i don't see the issue with that to be honest if someone takes a hit for not paying attention or being in a deadzone then thats fine.

Names perks and techniques to counter Wraith. (Look around, listen, use perks)
Then claims Wraith can't be countered.
...Yep. Just another Survivor finding it too hard to do anything but fix gens.
It's like the words 'shack', 'building' and 'maze tile' have lost all meaning...

I feel like killer dailies as a whole need to be looked at as a lot of them don't make sense:
Blight's daily requires you to DOWN survivors with his power but normal power hits don't count.
Plague's daily requires you to basic attack max infection survivors but corrupt purge hits don't count.
Demo's daily requires landing fully charged shreds instead of just landing shreds for some arbitrary reason.
Getting a chase survivors for 3 minutes as a 110% killers whom mainly down survivors very quickly in chase or aren't in active chase state for most of their chases.
Blight's is especially annoying because half the time you shouldn't be using your lethal rush.
-
You've got to be kidding. Certian Blight mains still have the easy way of doing things? Come on

Only inexperienced survivors go out of their way to avoid stepping on the trail inside a chase. In a simple loop, you can just lay a bit of trail on the pallet and proceed to follow the survivor. If they remain in the area, no matter if they throw the pallet early or not, they need to step on it.
It's not hard to inflict torment. The main issue with the ritual for me is that not all times I want to send someone away to the gulag.
I'm sorry, only inexperienced survivors know how to counter PH? Did you just seriously suggest that good survivors loop a killer that can't be looped because he will hit you in a locked animation?
-
Okay, right off the bat you show you don't quite understand the concept of a "stealth killer".
HIS POWER IS GETTING A FREE FIRST HIT. The "counterplay" to that is getting lucky by having LoS on him far enough away to see his shimmer start and not being in a relatively small deadzone, or having Spine Chill against a killer that doesn't know how to counter it. It's not really about the survivors skill, it's more about the Wraith not mindlessly walking up to a generator without at least trying to hide.
That is literally the power of stealth killers. That is why they annoy people. It is not unique to Wraith, he just also happens to have massively good mobility and so does it better than even Ghostface now. I also think that most of the complaints aren't that valid, but this one is and there's nothing to be done about it because that's one of his biggest strengths.
-
Actually, most survivors seem to think they win if they escape, which makes no sense.
-
@lagosta said:
Or inflict torment on 4 survivors. It's easy to do by just laying a few trails while looping.
Not if the survivors are... Vaguely decent.
PH's counterplay is predropping pallets and holding W. Maybe sometimes taking a window. Forcing torment on survivors that know the basics of wasting a killers time is like... Well, as put above, it's like trying to hit a survivor while still Undetectable from Demo's portals. You have to wait for a completely clueless, probably-watching-youtube survivor to come along and feed you the daily.
-
Yeah, they really should. It would shut up both the "SWF OP" crowd and the "SWF is Fine" crowd.
-

3 out of 4 games? Seriously?
If your luck is as bad as you claim then why aren't you using franklins?
Because it does nothing. All the survivors need to do is put the key down and remember where it is and the killer can do absolutely nothing about it.

It makes stealth a lot harder.

I don’t remember shadowborn causing any frame drops. Could be wrong though
I used Shadowborn on my brief Xbox one jaunt and it definitely caused even more frame drops than usual.

Changing the FoV would change the balance, and it would make this already poorly optimised game run even worse.

As someone who prides herself on once being a good Blight... Oh shite yeah, that's by far his best build. Personally I prefer PGTW because it only takes one slot, but also... Kinda takes a little skill in maze tiles to make up for the lower regression.
-
Best news I've seen all week. Now certain Blight mains are going to have to learn to play the killer.

Excellent. Now Blight isn't Nurse With Extra Steps.

"Then should flashlight blinding the killer when they destory a pallet or pick someone up (against their will and without anything they can do in this situation) be an exploit as well, right?"
Just stop. You're making yourself look ridiculous here.
No, it's the same principle. You don't get to pick and choose how it applies. And it's not a big deal anyway, PH's cages are super weak. If the killer was hardcore tunneling then it would be less time consuming to eat through a DS and two BT's. Mostly because doing this twice is practically two DS's.
-
Immediately run to safety after the unhook. Loop well. Hope your team hasn't created a giant deadzone without also doing the required slamming of gens to make the predrop tactic viable.
And honestly? Just take the hook state. If your team is decent you'll be fine, if they're not then what does it matter? May as well run Babysitter and t-bag the killer for 4 seconds.
-
Doctor, Hag, Nurse, Spirit, Freddy, Deathslinger, Bubba, and Twins.
-
That would be a nice feature, but they'd probably have to add a camera lock.

You wrote a Bubba cannot do anything when the survs predrop every pallets, which I disagree with. Imo predropping pallets is not much of an issue for a bubba, he will just mow them down. Thats the only remark I wanted to make.
No he won't. Because that's literally his counterplay. That's what survivors do to prevent themselves from going down. Because every Bubba under the sun runs Bamboozle. He just has to hope he wasn't going against a good team and the gens won't be done at the end of it.
-
Tunneling is when you get tunnel vision on someone - that's where the term came from. If you're actively avoiding killing them, you're clearly not tunneling them.
-
Because you're bgoimg against people you shouldn't be going against. This game really is a trial by fire when it comes to killer, so most are way better than the survivors they come across. Personally, I've been getting screwed by people that can't loop worth a damn but really know how to not give a killer a chance to do anything productive. Probably my fault for only being able to play during sweaty hours, but still. It's definitely a thing that survivors can do but that survivors in other regions or times of the day don't seem to understand.
