Object of Obsession, Iron Will, Lucky Break. Fourth perk can be whatever, I've been using Bond, but Inner Strength or WGLF are both great options.
OoO because it's so good.
Iron Will because it's so good and screw healing.
Lucky Break because its the best single use perk in the game. Except you can often use it twice. And it goes amazingly with OoO to draw out chases without using resources.
-
If DbD was realistic then everyone would die the moment a ######### machete swung by an evil supersoldier cleaves through their back.
-
Zarina and Plague.
-
I would rather return to a previous state of player mentality. Killer used to be easier because survivors didn't hold W and genrush, even though they had far more resources to use. The game was balanced around removing those resources and, when you go agaisnt teams that are playing like in the old days, it actually is a contest of skill.
-
Okay.
-
You're joking about Third Seal, but absolutely wankers have been using that and/or Knockout to bully solo que.

I would give up because i don't want them to die because of me, not because i expect them to leave. If i expected that i wouldn't have made this post in the first place lol.
It's called "playing smart".
"Why don't you just give up?
I mean, I'm totally leaving"

"it's not that hard to slip past"
Thing is, unless killers prove me otherwise, i expect to face decent/okayish killers, and they don't tend to let that happen.
Also, i'm implying that if i was in their situation i would totally kill myself in order to make sure that the others get to live, so how does that make me "selfish" anyway? 🤣
Because you also said you're just going to leave and that's why you'd give up in their place.
Edit: also, you said proxy camping. Unless you wanna change that to "facecamping" then there's always a way past, especially if the survivors are working together.
-
If you wanna be selfish, fine, but maybe don't shame people for being hopeful. I go for saves all the time in that scenario even without BT, it's not that hard to slip past. Then at worst it's a hook trade.
-
Why? Even in the extremely rare scenario in which the Pig has the headpop build, statistically speaking you're still going to get the trap off unless it's the last box, and even then you still might survive unless you wasted time healing or something.
RBT's are not designed to kill people. It is so, so rare to get into a scenario where they do.
-
Not much has changed about my survivor trials except an increase in entitled rank 10 players, and by "players" I mean "genuinely ignorant fellow survivors who will ######### and moan and BM you for not saving them while you're ######### injured and literally across the map and 2 other people are uninjured, clearly not both getting chased because it's physically impossible". Which is to be expected when you're sent back to green ranks. Also it happens way more than you'd think, that wasn't a specific scenario but an actual generalisation.
Killer is much worse. I have found that there is a very clear dividing line between red and purple ranks, but as a Plague main I can't pip up because I'm killing too fast. I also don't want to go back to the pain and sufferring of red ranks, so I'm trying to chill out a bit. Lot. Whatever.
-
Yeah, it needs some work. Personally I think it would be nice if the effect only activated while in a chase. It's a really nice effect, it's just that it's massive nerf not being able to spot scratchmarks from afar.
-
You can't be chill and play at red ranks on most servers at peak hours. I've heard from people swfing down here that AU is actually the worst when it comes to sweating, though no-one here really BM's. I guess we're just really competitive.
But, that kind of gameplay creates frustration which is released via general toxicity. I for one am glad to not deal with it too much. Though now that I'm down to purple/green ranks it's actually come up a lot more, especially since it's so ingrained in me to not chill out.
Edit: to clarify, it's toxicity and complaining directed at me by opponents and teammates. I'm not going around being a #########.
-
Nurse has a bigger learning curve. She's still pretty easy once you put in ten hours, but we're not supposed to say that so that people keep thinking she's super hard and don't play her.

You really only need one, but I understand what you mean.
If I can cleanse 2 totems in a trial by myself while gens are being done, my SWF teammate cleanses another 2, and we get hit with NOED anyway, that's on the survivors for not cleansing even one totem.
There have been multiple threads from people complaining that Small Game's counter is not what the community was asking for because it "only counted totems that [they] cleansed". In truth, it counts any totems that are cleansed, it's just that nobody is willing to cleanse the totems. Sorry, but this is a player problem. NOED shouldn't be nerfed just because most survivors are unwilling to cleanse totems. Let's raise that skill floor a little, yeah?
First of all, you're in a SWF. That means you have information others can only get by running a perk, which is ridiculous because that's using a perk to counter a perk and is oth terrible gameplay and completely unfair on solo survivors. It doesn't matter if it's only 2 people, it is huge even by your own admission. After all, you said your friend knows where two totems were, meaning your search area for the last totem is significantly smaller.
Second, if multiple people are doing totems while not in a SWF, they are wasting time searching areas that have already been searched. That is why the entire concept of "do bones" is heavily flawed. Even if those survivors have totem perks, which once again is extremely stupid that people insist they should be a NOED counter given that SWF get something even better completely for free, they will be wasting time looking for totems others have cleansed all because their wasted perk slot shows a little icon saying there's 1 totem left, assuming that's the anti-totem perk they were running.
Third, I really would rather a perk that blocks exit switches until all the dulls are gone just to watch this community burn to the ground. Wait until "do bones" becomes "play in a SWF only and use totem hunting perks".
Blame the survivors all you want. Good survivors know it's better to let the killer have their petty kill than throw the entire trial by wasting minutes looking for and cleansing dulls. It's not even good practice to cleanse dulls, you should be remembering where they were so you can check them when the gens are done. If you casually spot 2 totems, that's a 2 in 5 chance you're going to be able to get that NOED, which is much higher than your chances of the team getting all 5 and escaping.
-
Mori's are still effective tunnelling tools. You can bulldoze through BT and completely ignore DS.
-
@Orion said:
Totems are easy to find, though. I find multiple totems without even trying.
Except you need all 5. If only 4 totems are cleansed, you wasted a lot of time. If all 5 are cleansed, you wasted too much time. If multiple people are looking, you're all wasting too much time.
I'd rather a perk that forces survivors to cleanse all 5 dulls than NOED. It's so much stronger.
-
I was playing on Midwich, just coming off the stairs to the second floor, when I glimpsed Oni down the other end of the corridor, and half a second later I heard him roar.
-
You should be fine, if they actually do a proper investigation it's extremely easy to tell if someone's a hacker.
That sounds like a server-side connection issue or a ddos attack.
-
The archive challenge pop up is a bit annoying.
-
That's not the issue with BT. I don't have much trouble telling if someone has BT. The problem is that the unhooked survivor can bodyblock for the would-be farmer and prevent an exchange, if not an outright snowball.
BT shouldnt give the endurance effect. It should make survivors lose all collision and deactivate a la DS, but naturally with a much shorter timer.
-
In any way that's not you actively preying on solo que and solo que only, or being sadistic for cruelties sake and not to win.

Good post about not letting other people's attitude or words discourage you from playing the game! And I totally second this!
One thing I'd definitely recommend is to not let the frequency of any post you see get to you. It looks like you're new to the forum (welcome!) so be prepared to see a lot of people venting their frustrations about everything from perks to tactics or even specific matches. Try not to get bogged down by any negativity.
The DbD forums (in my opinion) tend to lean a little Killer-voiced whereas Reddit is the more Survivor outspoken platform. That's not the hard and fast rule and there's always exceptions, of course, but if anyone is noticing a lot of negative posts about their chosen side of the game just remember that it ebbs and flows and that what matters at the end of the day is that we all have fun and be kind to one another!
I'm a Survivor main and when I first joined this forum I remember feeling bogged down by what I felt was negativity about Survivors. It's never the majority - most people in this community are super awesome and just want to have a good time. 😊
Happy gaming! <3
People have always called the forums killer-sided, but it's actually not until recently that that's come true.
So many vocal, complaining survivor mains have left... All we have now is Sluzzy...

It didn't happen much in Oce/AU, but that server was plagued by rampant sweatiness that made the game feel stale, anyway.
EU just kind of gets the worst of it. With such a large population to draw from and the fact that its the main server that people will tend to VPN toward, it ends up being an incredibly toxic cesspool.
EU is definitely bad in terms of killers. Survivors on all servers are kinda douchey, but on EU, when I'm playing with my friends there, it really is tunnel/facecamp central. I could see people BMing there when I'm not looking.

I see it in more than half of my games.
That is actually astounding. I've played on 4 different servers across multiple times, the biggest two being my own AU and my NA West test server, and I can without a shadow of a doubt tell your I that I almost never come across killers kebabing.
Edit: I play on LA servers to test cultural differences. They exist, but they aren't BM related.
-
I'm a firm believer in either playing to win or playing to have fun. In either of those scenarios, camping and tunnelling don't come up that much, leaving it mostly in the realm of BM.
Is camping an important strategy? Yes, absolutely. Facecamping certainly isn't. Is tunnelling an important strategy? It can be. Far less so than camping, but it rears its head now and again. Mostly you should be snowballing map pressure, which tunnelling is actually the opposite of.
And do people not understand what camping and tunnelling are? Absolutely they don't, but that cuts both ways. I've seen facecampers insist they weren't facecamping and calling my solo team a bunch of genrushers, completely ignoring the fact that they were never more than 5m away from the hook.

I'm only making a post about it because I see it quite often.
And I do my very best to never be a toxic survivor. I never t-bag near the killer, and I refuse to use flashlights and keys unless I find them in a chest, and even then with flashlights I don't even really use them because I'm bad with them, so I just click them around my teammates in most cases.
My point being, I just want to read the different reasonings killers might have to be doing this to survivors who weren't toxic. And I've gotten different responses so it's quite interesting to read.
Do you actually see it that often, or are you sufferring from confirmation bias?
-
Why do people phrase BM questions like this? It's not like it's the majority of players. And, unlike with survivor BM, there's only one killer to a trial, so it's not even the majority of trials either.
-
I don't see how Blood Echo helps in the long run. Oh, no, sometimes the survivors cannot use their exhaustion perk... But you're missing a valuable perk yourself.
-
This has been the case for more than a year now.
-
I always expect every killer to be fun and I'm often very dissapointed. Trickter is a perfect example, 110 killer, small TR, ranged attack - sounds awesome!
Oh, wait, his entire playstyle it walking at people until they do down no matter who or where they are.
-
It triggers bad memories for some killers, back when that was an actually uncounterable winning strategy due to the speed of early Self Care and the sheer amount of pallets on the map...
Okay, it was mostly because of the speed of old Self Care.
-
It does, if you don't like to have fun. But because most people want to have fun and don't like to do actual genrushing, it's thankfully rare that a 200 hour SWF does that.
Although they tend to predrop a lot of pallets, which is frustrating in itself.
SWF is one of those things that's a massive powerspike if you can get 3-4 people all playing the same way, not wasting time and being very co-ordinated. But, that's a rank 1 kind of thing, and the rank 7 3/4-persons I've been going against all night (who are all PC players, ######### matchmaking, I don't have "PC only" on) have been extremely chill players that I've been accidentally brutally steamrolling because I'm still stuck in the rank 1 mentality of dialling it to 10 at the beginning of the trial. Then we're 3 minutes in, someone's dead, 2 people are on the ground and I'm only just realising that only 3 gens are done.
I do not remember how to chill out.
-
Better than solo que, or as I like to call it, "free win".
-
Contextual callouts and/or notifications.
-
Oni, Blight, Plague, Wraith, Huntress, Billy. In that order.
-
Yup. The perks themselves are decent enough on their own. The BP bonus could be lifted from them and applied to everyone all the time.
-
Somewhere around 5-10% I'd say
-
Sabotage was changed, not nerfed. The hooks take 30 seconds to respawn, which is plenty long enough to get a save. 99ing was removed and replaced with an extremely quick sabotage meaning you require zero setup. And toolbox charges were mostly nerfed in terms of gen repair.
And honestly, Sabotage itself is a bit of an outdated and inconsistent mechanic. Go to Dead Dawg and there's no point even in a full party bullying Sabo squad, or go to Grim Pantry and get free saves left and right. And sabotaging bear traps? #########? Sure, nerf the weakest killer in the game to make him even more bullyable. Seems fun.
As for the rest, suiciding is stupid. I'm glad they made it harder. Most suicides are survivors ragequitting, not bowing out of a lost trial. A trial isn't lost til someone's actually dead at 5 gens. Animations are fine. It's a farm in late summer/early autumn. All killer lunges are completely identical. The only difference between killers are their appearance, power and movement speed (which no longer effects lunges). Collision, hitbox, attack cone, etc. are all the same.
-
It depends on the situation. If the killer is just patrolling the unblocked gens, wait it out. If they're not, go do a gen.
-
Hellblazer.
Because I sort of talked about how John Constantine would be a great fit for the lore of this world but it would never happen and so I gave up and then they hinted that it actually might be a possibility for them to do a Hellblazer chapter and now that all I want from DbD.
Edit: not the black-haired american do-gooder. The scumbag from Liverpool.
-
It's a latency issue that happens due to her oversmall hitbox.
And she's already on the same level as Oni, her playstyle is just more on the defensive than the megaslug.
-
Yeah, even ignoring Dead Hard For Distance, if you're in a situation where you cannot bait it out (which is very, very common) it's just as frustrating.
Oh, look, I "missed" that hatchet/redeemer shot/Lethal Rush/blink hit/phase hit/wraith lunge/Ambush attack/ITH/regular TH/POTD/Doctor shock/Oni bonk/Corrupt Purge/unsafe-pallet-lunge.
Or, even more insultingly, "I guess I 'misplaced' that trap."
-
DbD has a bit of a wierd progression. When you start, killer is easy AF, because all your opponents are babies and have no clue how to play, because the mechanics and tactics required by survivors are harder than those of killer (at first).
However, then you rank up and go against survivors that know what they're doing and suddenly you have to play twice as good as them for half the reward. You're out there getting punished for half a seconds hesitation while your opponents are second chancing it to victory. And gods forbid you get good survivors, the ones who don't need second chances or exhaustion perks - that's a killers worst nightmare. And you realise that the killers job is to wrest control of the trial form the survivors, and it always has been that way, it's just that back in your early days the survivors practically handed you control in a silver platter with a glowing neon sign reading "Kill Us All" flashing on the skybox.

i never knew what a j flick was and this video just confused me more
At the start of Blights Lethal Rush lunge, there was a single uncapped frame which could be exploited to spin Blight around more than 180 degrees.
Essentially, a Blight could be running in one direction, then spin and lunge full speed in the precise opposite direction faster that the human brain can register with no warning whatsoever. This could be used to not only make Blight easier to play, but also to remove his only counterplay by "flicking" around every single loop or wall in the game, essentially turning him into Nurse With Extra Steps.

Plague, because I'm tired of everyone else.
Zarina, because I really like her.

Can't tell if it's intentional, but it works the same with other passive heals, like Second Wind. Actually, even if you start cleansing against Plague you keep your DS. I haven't tested fully cleansing, but I think it would deactivate it.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2187302#Comment_2187302
I think they should switch it around, where changing health state by any means (excluding deep wound) deactivates DS, but the act itself of self-healing shouldn't (again, unless completed). I don't think it would be abusable at all. Actually, it would be better for the killer in many regards. It would also avoid cheese situations where DS gets deactivated accidentally, or where stealth killers just follow the unhooked and jump on them as soon as they start self-caring (looking at you, Blendette).
People would just self care under the hook and the killer wouldn't be able to do much about it (Unbreakable still exists).
-
Getting fully healed doesn't deactivate DS (though it really, really should). Performing the "healing" action, whether on yourself or someone else, does.

Yes, Coal Tower is the most balanced. That is also happens to be the second smallest map is telling. If they are the same size then I'm not sure what about them is so different as I struggle with them far more now that I did before, especially with 110% killers. Shelter woods is only more killer sided now because it's brighter, thus harder to become completely immersed compared to the incredibly dark older version.
As time goes on, survivors get faster on gens. Also, a killer being 110 just means they can't chase people like an m1 killer, it has zero real impact on their mobility. Huntress gets from one end of shelter woods to the other about 3 seconds slower than Pig
-
Firstly, tunnelling has a very clear and simple definition, it's "getting tunnel vision". That is literally where the term comes from and, like camping, it's mostly the killer being lazy AF and hoping the survivors suck. AKA, preying on solo que for cheap wins.
There's definitely situations where they're the right play, don't get me wrong, but it's not that often. It really isn't. Usually you should be spreading damage and snowballing. And when people complain about "slugging" it's usually complaining about 4-person slugs. It's amazing that in 5 years the only counterplay to that we have without relying directly on teammates is an overpowered perk, an inconsistent perk, and a perk that literally screams "don't slug me".
