  • It sounds reportable, and since it's not hacking maybe something will actually be done about it. Discovering a bug like that is one thing, but two people deliberately using it to gain an unfair advantage? Even if you don't have video evidence, it could at least mean bringing it to the attention of the Devs so it gets fixed, so definitely send a bug report.

  • I'd rather they rework it to prevent bodyblocks if they're going to increase the timer. If someone's going for an unsafe save they don't deserve to get out for free.

This is exactly what happened in multiple games in a row the last two days with my Solo Qeue AND SWF Experience.. which is why I decided to make this post today lol. It genuinely does make Survivor not fun to play, even though up until now I always had the bias that Survivors had it Easier than Killers in DBD - that in my mind is still true OVERALL - but I do find it upsetting when Killers that can still get a 4K without tunneling (because of how good they are) decide to tunnel anyways and just make it for a really poor gaming experience for the rest of us.

--- Although after having read now most of all of the responses in this Thread..

MY BIGGEST TAKEAWAY FROM ALL OF THIS IS

Apparently WAY MORE KILLERS TUNNEL than I thought. I must be like, one of the only Killers in this game that actually thinks Tunneling is bad and should be avoided whenever possible. I swear to ALL of you reading this, I actually had no idea that I was such a minority on this issue, in fact I just thought that most respectful Killers felt the same way as me. This is a pretty big shock to me lol but at least now I'm starting to understand why I'm getting so much negative feedback on my suggestions.

And I apologize by the way, I do not mean any harm by it. I can absolutely promise you that you can "Win" over 50% of your matches, whether that means getting +1 Pip or at least 2-4K in Red Ranks without ever using Tunneling as a Method if you continue playing until you figure out your own way of doing so, IF you would like to, but I understand now that most of you WOULD NOT like to , and in that case I don't want to be the one to suggest something to take away that crutch from you.

I just really wish there was at least SOMETHING that a player who gets tunneled by a Killer from the start of the game can do so that it isn't such a completely miserable experience for that one particular player.

Please, at least accept that this is a problem that should have some kind of better solution, and perhaps even try to input something constructive that could help <3

I literally cannot win half my trials by going for 8 hook 0k games. Its just not possible, I play in the sweatiest time of day by necessity. Gens take 3 minutes on average if I let them. Or often if I don't let them.

I think the biggest issue here is the concept of "tunnelling" Vs actively and deliberately going for 12-hook trials. I also think tunnelling should be addressed, first by completely removing holding m1 to victory. Once that's out of the game, killers won't be forced to play like absolute arseholes against good teams, and maybe a system to prevent tunnelling can be implemented. Not this one though, this one is just "make everyone play Nurse/Oni".

    That's true.

Logistically speaking, it'd make a lot more sense to target the Solo player in that scenario.

Even if it's a god-tier 3 man, it's still only 2 people on gens at max.

Not this solo. Mostly because she's a ######### to chase and has absolutely zero plan in any situation. Like, ever. Who needs skill when you're insane?

  • @Pulsar said:

I honestly don't ever see that, it might be because my SWF has two flashlight clicking Nea's, so I think the Killer has trouble deciding who to tunnel between them.

I tunnel a bit and I usually try to identify either an obvious weak link or a god-tier gamer who is carrying them and get rid of them. It's rare that I tunnel the first person I see out of the game.

Yeah, you probably don't see it because I think we can all agree that that's one of the worst ways to play. Hardcore tunnelling? I don't know why I see killers do it. Its like hardcore facecamping, it's just so dumb. Getting someone out of the game is only important if it was time efficient, which I genuinely don't see all that much.

Although, for some reason I get paired with 3-person SWF teams a hell of a lot as a solo, so that could be altering my perceptions a bit. Hardcore tunnelling and facecamping are way more effective against solo's with no info perks.

I play Survivor a bit, and I see tunneling as one of two things.

    Situation A (doesn't happen often):

The Killer sees me as so much of a threat that they need to get me out of the game ASAP to have a chance. They often throw the match to catch me, and considering how easy it is to stay in Red Ranks, I don't lose anything but the Killer de-pips and hopefully learns something.

Situation B (happens more often than I'd like to admit):

The Killer sees me as the weakest link of the team and figures I'll require the least effort to remove from the game. I'm easy pressure.

Neither of these situations make me particularly happy, but I understand both of them and as such, I am not too upset.

Honestly, I rarely see that. Mostly I just see killers going after the first person they see until they're dead.

No, it's massive buff to Survivor.

If you are playing against a half-decent team, you will need to tunnel someone out of the game because a 4v1 is massively against you as Killer. This change would allow the Survivors to keep the game a 4v1 for an extremely long time, making it virtually impossible for Killers other than Nurse or Spirit to win.

It'd turn every single game into a slug fest.

Let's take a hypothetical scenario that can very easily happen. Say you spend 20 seconds looking for a Survivor at the beginning of the game, and then you have a 30 second chase (which is relatively fast) and it then takes you another 10 seconds to pick up and hook said Survivor, then another 15 to get to a gen.

That's three gens done and you have one hook and you had an ideal scenario with a quick chase. This scenario happens a lot at higher ranks against Survivors who have an inkling of knowledge.

You now have two gens left and 4 Survivors alive. Tell me how you win the game without tunneling someone out so that the game is more manageable.

It's not even about tunnelling one person, you also just ignore the good players or the players that haven't been hooked because you need people out. Sometimes it's right to tunnel someone, true, but I don't see it come up that often.

Yeah, that's again kind of speaking to my point.

This will encourage that type of gameplay, even toward some of the "not best" Survivors out there.. and discourage the Killer from sitting and Camping/Tunneling slightly, also as I mentioned before there are cases where you CANNOT prevent the Killer from killing one specific Survivor.

It just happened to me in a match yesterday, I was actually playing Solo Qeue Survivor, and the Killer for some reason decided to Tunnel me to death immediately from the start. There were 2 other Survivors that actually stayed after they unhooked me and tried to Body Block the Killer for me - the Killer WOULDN'T Even Swing at them, just walked around them and went straight for me.

In this scenario, if my system was in place, instead of having to try and "Bodyblock" for me, unsuccessfully at that, they could just let the Killer hook me and give up their own Hook States while working on Gens either forcing the Killer off of me or possibly making it easier for them to Escape. And lets be real, in this scenario, that literally just happened yesterday, the Killer was just being rude af.. there is absolutely no reason to tunnel someone that hard and ignore others while they are body blocking you, I swear I didn't even have an item it's not like I was flashlighting or had a key, I spawned near him by coincidence and it was a Bubba that chainsawed me down and then never let me go.

I only scored 1K bloodpoints that game, and it was a horrible experience, and shouldn't have been fun for anyone to be honest... and there was actually nothing that I could do with how hard he camped/tunneled me. If a Killer is doing that, they deserve to get some kind of drawback in-game for the type of behavior.

But that behaviour exist for a reason - actually being able to win. In this concept of yours, it would be 9 minutes on average before someone dies in every single trial. I don't think I've even had a 9-minute trial in weeks.

And it's not tunneling. It's just the fact that it's unrealistic to have killers get 8 hooks before someone dies. That just doesnt happen. I cannot stress that enough, if you're at 8 hooks and no-one is dead, you have lost the trial.

  • @Pilot said:

And what if the stun is instant ?

Isn't that how it's supposed to work? Or what am I missing here? Are hits supposed to go trough the pallet?

Do you have any idea how many BS hits happen trough pallets against high ping killers? Way, way too many.

Unbelievable. The killers were having the time of their life abusing the pallets for weeks and now after the fix and the slightest of buffs they're crying their hearts out?

    Kindly bugger off....

Yes, you are supposed to be able to get hit through pallets if you time it wrong. That's how pallets are designed.

  • That would make it impossible to win against decent teams without resorting to mass slugging. It guarantees 8-hook 0k scenarios. And as nice and fun as that sounds, there's no way good survivors would ever not sacrifice their hook states. That's already what we do. That's like, survivor 101. Someone on death hook? They vanish and the least hooked person takes the heat.

  • That would be a nice buff, alongside lowering the self-stun.

The playerbase shouldn’t have to compensate for an MMR with this large of an error.

Theres also many players who just play and do not discuss the game. They wouldn’t know about the prescription to drag out matches.

Given that high MMR players are a minority of the playerbase, it's not that big a deal. And given that the issue has nothing to do with MMR and everything to do with sweaty players, it's even less of an issue.

No just perks that can compliment Lucky Break well since I've heard it need Iron Will to work.

I mean, as I've pointed out, DS needed Unbreakable or lockers before it became truly insane. Self Care needs Botany Knowledge. Undying needs Ruin. Pop needs a gen info perk. Freddy needs slowdown.

Something needing something else to truly shine is how this game is designed. The rare exceptions aren't even that good - who uses Unbreakable by itself and actually has use from it in nearly every game?

  • I was a rank 1 killer, and either a rank 6-7 survivor. I went down to rank 7 killer and rank 9 Survivor, so not that bad at all.

That’s assuming long queues isn’t a driver for disgruntled players too. But despite this talk, DBD has had a steady playerbase period.

The difference being that the fix to long ques in a working MMR scenario is to take a chill pill and go for 12 hooks or do literally anything that isn't the gens. The fix to not getting demolished by sweaty players is to quit the game and never return.

Do you think Trickster is good then? The general consensus I'm seeing is that he's one of the bottom tier killers, down with Legion and Clown. (I always liked Legion, but I also am a Survivor main and barely ever played Killer)

He's okay. His one-on-one chase is kind of like if Deathslinger had a little more counterplay. Mostly people call him weak because most people genuinely don't want to mindlessly hold W at people while also having to be very good at landing knives. It's a wierd mix of high mechanical skill and just completely switching your brain off.

  • Against Blight you use short loops against him, such as filler pallets, path pallets and junk tiles.

Trickter has no tricks. He just walks at you without any mindgames and you go down rather quickly no matter what you do. Fortunately, most people don't know this and so most Tricksters try to go for fancy nonsense and waste their own time.

  • Right now, killers do have the option to play Spirit or Nurse, both of whom are quite easy after a short while.

If there are players available to play the game, they should be matched. If there was a massive influx of player base with a perfect mixture of high and low, then this dream could happen. For now: high MMR killers should be matched against the highest MMR survivors available. Same for lowest.

I have seen both attempts by the developers. Slower queues for better matchmaking. Faster queues with looser matchmaking.

Being able to play the game was always the better outcome.

People should never be matched with players outside of their preparedness level. That's the biggest issue with matchmaking right now, and the biggest driver for all the "X OP" threads and people quitting.

There is no point to changing anything about the matchmaking if nothing is going to change.

  • Not only do the Devs encourage people to play and chat with their friends, plenty of killers such as myself hate walking all over full solo lobbies.

  • I've seen plenty of people give what they think is irrefutable evidence of wrongdoing, only for a different perspective to completely falsify that idea.

  • @Steel_Eyed said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2186104#Comment_2186104

High mmr players are players too. You shouldn't be discluded from the game because you learned how to play the game.

I'm one of those players. I had to wait twenty minutes for a Plague trial. I didn't even try playing Blight, who I was maining during the last test, and my survivor ques... Didn't change much at all, to be honest. Still 20-30 minute wait times.

When players like that go against unprepared teams, it's a massacre. It's a driving factor for why so many don't stick around. And a loose MMR system would force those sorts of interactions and negatively impact the playerbase. So, it's either chill and de-mmr (like deranking but the moment you try to bully anyone you shoot straight back up), or stick with long ques.

I'm not trying to be snarky but how would that discourage camping.

Camping and tunneling is often a necessity due to a lack of mobility and an inability to snowball. Giving killers without mobility a greater chance to snowball without impacting high-mobility killers would be amazing, and it would get rid of gen camping as a nice little side benefit.

  • Rework the gens, replacing m1 holding with part fetching that fuel potential interactions and help solve the mobility problem by making the survivors come to the killer.

  • @Steel_Eyed said:

Players do not feel the same way as you do about this just being a party game. I really like their rank reset ideas they put out (reset to R20 and bloodpoint rewards) but they need to loosen matchmaking on the SBMM because it is truly terrible how long the queues got for the ‘high MMR’ players.

I disagree. While I do think the sbmm should be somewhat loose, the high MMR players are the ones that make everyone else quit, whether we like it or not. I'd prefer for the matchmaking times to gently nudge people into being less sweaty.

  • It's good to waste time, because it's like facecamping but you do it from 40m away and unlike Twins and actual facecamping it has proper counterplay. But I never rely on trapped hooks, it's just there to slow survivors down.

  • No, I use Iron Will. Mostly for the additional consistentcy, because even by itself its stupidly good. Iron Will just provides an additional moment for you to smokebomb in after the initial hit.

Edit: If you're talking about other meta perks, no. I stopped using Exhaustion months ago out of boredom and disturbance at my own crutching. BT is for safe unhook challenges because I normally bodyguard the unhooked survivors any way. DS I never use, nor UB. They're so inconsistent.

  • @WishIcouldmain said:

Okay if you want to preserve that Lucky Break so much go ahead. But I get annoyed if my teammates do what you shouldn't do against certain killers.

Maybe if people actually learned how to juke a good Plague people would stop complaining about her, instead of witholding her power from her in favour of sitting on gens and creating the double whammy of not many good plagues and no-one knowing how to play around her main power.

You're also completely ignoring that those are very rare killers to go against and that there isn't another extremely strong one-use perk in the game even remotely as consistent as Lucky Break. I successfully use it in about 4/5ths of my trials. None of them are that good. DS? Not any more. UB? Never was. Deliverence? Nope. Even BT, DH and IW by itself aren't as consistent.

Tbf I’d argue it’s only really good with iron will and a medkit.

Medkit's optional. It's the strongest single use perk in the game. A medkit is like if you could use Old DS twice.

And as for pairing it with Iron Will... Most people didn't get use out of DS or Unbreakable until they started putting them together and playing into it, so...

How when two injure you so easily. And one primarily looks for instant downs? And can burn the seconds quite easily since.

Yeah, all of that only really burns through about half of it, if that.

  • @Munqaxus said:

Ok, but OoO would only go off for 3 seconds every 30, if you happen to be the obsession. That doesn't seem very useful. Plus, OoO would work just the same without Lucky Break.

The killer hits me, I make distance for free, OoO goes off and I make sure to position myself relatively close so as to be a tantalising morsel instead of being halfway across the map like I could be.

  • No perk in the entire game is 100% useful in every game, but yes, even agasint Legion, Plague and Bubba I've gotten decent use, which is more than I can say for even Old DS.

  • There are so many better I go perks I'd rather be using. Tinkerer, Thrilling Tremors (literally a direct upgrade on BBQ), Discordance, Infectious Fright, etcetera, etcetera.

BBQ really is mostly for the points. Remove it's double BP and suddenly survivors will have a much harder time, because instead of running an obvious and easily counter able, very much so healthy perk, killers will actually use proper info perks.

  • @WishIcouldmain said:

Got to agree should've been out up to 60 seconds since there's many factors that reduces Lucky Breaks efficiency. You need Iron Will, map could have no LOS breaker, also if it's Legion, Plague or an instant down killer not too useful.

It is one of the most consistent perks I've ever used. 45 seconds is fine. If I bring a brown medkit that's a guaranteed two uses if I want to play stealthy.

  • @Munqaxus said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2184553#Comment_2184553

I'm confused, how would OoO and Lucky Break work together? Lucky Break stops the killer from seeing your aura, so OoO wouldn't go off?

No it doesn't, that's Off The Record. Lucky Break removes scratchmarks and blood for 45 seconds. Which is absolutely insane and I'm glad no-one else is using it much or my survivor ques would be twice as long.

  • Dude/ette, it is now part of my main build and it is one of the, if not the, strongest perks I have ever used. It's like Old DS but you can use it more than once and it kills any potential chase.

But I've been a little more nefarious - I use it with OoO to drag out chases without using any resources.

No one uses it to give themselves bad ping, they use it to get into servers they otherwise wouldn't be able to normally. Sure that means they lag and you get hit with bs swings but it also means they miss hits that should of been legit on their screen. This mentality that people use a VPN to make themselves laggy is actually one of the dumbest ideas people have come up with on these forums and that's saying a lot. No having a laggy internet connection is not bannable and never will be. VPNs are just a fact of the internet and will never ever go away so you might as well just get use to them.

And for the record VPNs normally give you a better connection not worse, mine typically nets me an extra 10-15ping better when I use it, bringing me from an average of 60 to 45-50.

There's no reason to connect to other servers besides gaining an advantage.

Edit: Also, you'll note I said nothing about VPN's, because though VPN's are mostly used to be malicious they are also occasionally used to cut down on ping. I do the same.

  • The shards grind makes sense, they want to force people to pay money. The BP grind doesn't, I've been playing this game for years and I don't have all perks on half the characters yet.

  • I'm fairly certain that deliberately choking your connection is considered cheating, but its not enforceable.

  • The disparity between full parties and solo groups.

  • Well, judging by those points at least they weren't a Deathsquad.

  • Spirit. She fits the spitefuelled trinity of not having counterplay, being extremely strong, and not being very hard.

  • Basically reverting survivor movement to the Twins midchapter and halving a killers lunge distance.

Edit: So probably, people hated the Twins midchapter and lunging is one of a killers greatest yet oft overlooked strengths.

  • Those games you listed have issues with hardware advantage locking people out of playing the game.

  • Pretty much, yeah. The only quick fix would be severely limiting directional change speeds and slowing the lunge acceleration.

Thankfully the game doesn't really lag for me when it comes to skillchecks.

Sloppy Butcher on the other hand sends my Xbox to the ######### shadow realm whenever I get hit.

Oh my gods, thankfully I only get a small bit of lag from the blood burst, but that might be because PC setting lower it's polycount.

  • If you have video evidence and they admitted to it, well... Here's hoping.

Although I've stopped reporting hackers and exploiters. No confirmation that they ever get dealt with, plenty confirmed not getting dealt with, and a long, arduous process to report them that requires so much detail that hacker's have figured out how to hide, and that's assuming you don't get kicked form the post-trial screen after a few minutes of inactivity setting the rest up...

Edit: Also, I don't always remember to have recording software running in the background, ready to take a five-minute snapshot whilst also lowering my framerate the entire time.
