  • Haze - All players are illuminated by a faint Dreamworld aura.

    Alternative name - Screw Blendettes.

  • Your FOV is larger than Spine Chill's detection cone.

  • Slinger main here - He has no counterplay. Nor does PH. They really are both like Old Legion or Current Nurse - if you don't stealth, you're screwed. The only difference between Deathslinger and the others is that he has to break the pallet before he shoots you - and since he's not an m1 killer, that 1 pallet is all you get.

Edit: I should clarify, I'm not being sarcastic or anything. I started maining him because console players know how to destroy m1 killers, and he really is ridiculous in a chase.

  • Given the sheer number of bugs she has, I doubt that it is intended. However, given her sheer potential, I don't think that any changes will be made.

  • So what you are saying is remove any reason for them to remain in the trial.

That's fine, except survivors don't get many points doing that, so it's not the reason they do it. It's to either give YOU points or, in most cases, just to assert dominance. Because we are a lovely and positive community of online videogame players.

  • I love that people try to compare killer and survivor meta perks. Seriously, they just aren't the same. They don't have the same use, and they aren't run for the same reasons.

By the way, I've been running DS for a week straight without changing anything else about my playstyle and I haven't even had the chance to use it, let alone been tunnelled. Even when I throw on OoO, the most broken info perk in the game, nothing really changes. I got half-arse tunnelled once, and even then it was because she was a Hag and literally couldn't do anything because of me. Solo player, BTW. Not a particularly skilled one, either, just someone that knows what tunnelling really is and how to avoid "tunnelling."

  • Lullaby is a joke of a perk. It never gets me. In fact, it has a completely different effect: you can sneak up on me slightly easier.

    Slightly.

  • That is a really quite interesting. There's also a secondary effect to take into consideration, especially for 32m killers: cockiness. Survivors will often wait til they think you're close enough to be a real danger before they run, and even in the rare circumstance where they peg you having M&A they often underestimate how much distance you gain.

  • No. Half of breakable walls cover loop-killing doorways, the other half loop-buffing doorways that turn the area into a borderline infinite.

. the killer will camp one out and get a second in endgame. thats how it goes.

First, that's the ######### way out. Second, Myers can do that. That's why it's the ######### way out.

  • Its super distracting to experienced players.

except for spirit and nurse who get 2 kills which is what the game is balanced around apparently. pyramid is a possibility but i need to see a good pyramid player.

I don't quite think you know what a good team is. Let me give you a hint: 2 minutes 48 seconds.

yea them killers are decent but they still get destroyed by a good team. i think that as little counterplay as they have, killers like slinger, pyramid, nurse and spirit still do have it. and heres why people dont like them. instead of looping the killer like the originals, you stall the killer for time like in a sense im going to go down its just a matter of when. im fine with that. obviously opinionated

Every killer in the game gets destroyed by good teams, no exceptions.

  • To some extent, I do agree that it's stupid to want every killer to be an m1 chaser. However, extreme chase killers are genuinely awful to deal with, and invalidate almost anything you can do. Bubba, Billy, Huntress, Plague and even Pig are examples of chase-power killers that aren't the DBD equivalent of scraping your sensitive parts across broken glass.

  • @KingFrost said:

That'd make Devour Hope way too powerful.

Ahh, yes. The Hex perk that holds back all other Hex perks with its stupidity

  • Tier 1 is an outdated mechanic. That's all it really is. It's supposed to be thematic, but in a game where you NEED early pressure it's just a hinderence these days.

  • Don't. I used to be a Plague main, and it hurt my mental health. She gets robbed of more hits than any other ranged killer and it is EXTREMELY frustrating to play her. You literally get notified that you're purge hit them AND NOTHING HAPPENS. It's really, really bad.

  • Terrible idea. You would only see the same characters every match. The variety would drastically decrease.

  • Big deal. You went against a terrible Huntress. How do I know? She didn't win with Iri head. I wonder how many hatchets she missed and how terrible her game sense was. Spreading out hooks? Easy loss.

  • This is a terrible idea. It would drastically decrease the variety in the game. People are lazy and only want to run the easiest, strongest things they can. If you try to make the survivors be anything but skins, you're only going to see the same survivors every match. Case and point, Blendettes.

I agree that combo is OP, but I don't think it's fair to criticize someone for using perks that synergize well. I would call on the devs to nerf one or both perks instead so that the synergy isn't so devastating.

I'm not criticising people for using perks that synergise well. I'm pointing out that if someone feels the need for literal 1-minute immortality, they are not the kind of person I want poisoning my life.

  • A lot of the changes suggested, this one included, are not very well thought out. For example, if you give survivors "stats" then... Well, there's a reason Blendette is so popular. People are, for lack of a better term, lazy pricks that will only want the strongest character.

An overhaul of DHD would be extremely unwelcome to most of the community. This broken, steaming pile of shite is the game that they fell in love with, the game that they ######### and moan and squabble over while playing several hours a week. As much as people say it's "drastically changed," it hasn't changed that much. The core is still there, it's just had the jagged edges ground down.

You're exaggerating if you actually compare Deathslinger to Nurse or old Legion in terms of counterplay.

Nurse ignores pallets, windows, distance, structures - basically everything in the game.

Old Legion could miss a million hits with no penalty and still down you in one Frenzy hit by looking at the ground while following you.

Deathslinger can't down you using his power if you:

    - drop a pallet

    - break line of sight

    - are out of gun range

    - manage to position yourself behind objects not allowing him to reel you in

    Deathslinger:

    • Zones you, breaks the pallet and shoots you, because he's not an m1 killer and rarely has to deal with chained tiles.
    • Walks up to you beause breaking LoS isn't counterplay for a moving killer and isn't really applicable in most situations. He's not Huntress, he's Deathslinger. He's always at max speed.
    • Isn't going to bother with you if you are out of gun range unless you take off super early, which is the "counterplay" to literally every killer, and even then can simply walk after you with little fear because you cannot waste a lot of time looping him.
    • Actually wants you to waste your time positioning yourself in a bad area so he can walk up and hit you without taking a shot.

As someone who mains Slinger, here's a tip: Hide. That is the miraculous counterplay you are looking for. Everything else is either so situational as to be worthless, or actually worthless. Doing any or all of those things results in you getting hit much faster than if he was an m1 killer, and he's 110. That's not really counterplay. Counterplay implies you're extending your life by more than a few seconds.

Sucks for you if you can't drop pallets earlier and not run in the open where there is nothing you can cover behind from his shots

Dropping pallets early isn't counterplay, not really - many of them he can still get you at, and the rest he can get you before you reach the next loop, because at most he will have a low-mid range shot. Sure, on some maps the tiles are ridiculously close together, but that isn't the average.

  • Longer, more interactive trials? Hell yes. I'm not a fan of 4 minute gens. I'm also not a fan of 16 minute gens, but there's definitely a middle ground where survivors can have more of an objective to do (fetching gas or something) and not be allowed to just mindlessly drop pallets while their team is holding m1 real good.

  • No, I would rather play the game than BM and pretend I'm impressive.

You can def tell the difference, when DC penalties are up I don't have people DCing every other game

You're right. I don't have DC's every other game. I have suicides instead. Less common? Slightly. Enough to feel it, for sure. But not by a whole lot.

  • @theArashi said:

Let's assume DC penalties aren't a thing and you are trying to get enjoyable experience as a survivor.

Killer got looped badly and DC'd in less then a minute = Your game ended and survivor lobbies aren't near instant as the killer ones.

Survivor at the very start got downed quickly, doesn't like that killer/map/offering so he DC'd early on. If he's playing with his friend you now have 2 survivors DC at the game start.

In both cases your experience is terrible and with zero punishment for that it can potencially happen in EVERY GAME.

Would you continue playing if you got games like that 4 times in a row? Would you think a new player that checks out the game would like that and continue supporting the game?

Except now they just suicide on hook and nothing else has changed.

  • Green ranks. That's when you consistently get matched against literally anyone who pressed "Ready."

The hit detection currently applied to projectiles IS server-side hit detection because they're physics objects, which are handled 100% on the server. There is always going to be a discrepancy in where the client sees the projectile and where it "actually" is on the server due to latency, this is not something that can be overcome by coding as it's a purely physical limitation. What server-side hit detection/validation seeks to do is lessen that gap between clients by ensuring a hit confirmation sent from the killer's client makes sense from the server's perspective. This will make it so as long as you have reasonable ping to the server, you won't be getting hit from 3 loops away by a Chinese killer using a VPN, it just won't grant them the hit.

If they simply recycle the current server hit validation they have applied to projectiles, this game will genuinely die. I know that gets thrown around a lot, but there are significantly less killers than survivors even taking into account the 1:4 ratio. As a once-Plague-main, I can tell you right now that that system is awful and no amount of latency cut will fix it. The system itself is flawed. It seems to send 3 confirmation requests before you can actually hit, because even when you do it's often super delayed.

  • There's the DbD subreddit, but that's about as toxic as it comes. Have an opinion of your own? You're going to get bullied and cyberstalked. Facts to back it up? Woe be unto you.

Still, it's a nice place for memes, so long as you do not in any way take it seriously or even mention game balance in passing.

  • Nothing that DbD can handle, that's for sure. It's a slasher game, that's one very small (and pretty cheap) subgenre of horror. Give the killer a unique weapon and a gimmick and you've got yourself a horror icon.

I'm just hoping we see more killers that aren't alien. And I don't mean ones like Demo - The Alchemist and Huntress are just as alien. Their thought patterns are as unfamiliar as they come. There comes a point when something that should be that kind of scary becomes a joke, because it's just the same in game as Stabby Murderpants, legion member number 5.

  • @chase131119 said:

I agree, it's crappy when people get a penalty because of the game but it's not too long. Watch a youtube video.

A player shouldn't be playing if they have connection issues. Otherwise, it's only five minutes if it only happens once. It's not too long.

The penalty grows exponentially. If it was just five minutes each time then whatever, but it isn't: I got dropped two nights in a row. The first night was a five minute ban. The second was a 15 minute ban. I dread what happens if I get dropped while playing tonight. And I'm on the light end of it.

You are the first one I see, who says it is fine. It's not about being selfish, I know Dead by Daylight is not meant to be for one person only. It is a huge game with a huge community and the majority has spoken, even the popular streamers said Visionary is completely useless. I'm just only making some ideas how it would be a better and more used perk, coming up with ideas is not forbidden as far as I know. If this makes you mad, I'm sorry take a chill pill and avoid discussions like this ;)

You can be chill and disgusted at the same time. Admittedly I was taking every complaint I have seen into account when I posted that, which isnt fair, but at the same time... Screw this community. People call things worthless because they are worthless to them - that really is the definition of selfish.

  • I play a lot of Slinger. He is one of my favourite killers. I concur.

Could at least spend that time and take out extra struggling points. You might even get unhooked in process and nobody knows what may happen next. By suiciding you don't give any chances for any miracles to happen.

Oh, I know they'll unhook me... Sometimes I'll even wait for them to get close before I let go. Because I'm always running Kindred, and they know they have no excuse. Gens before friends? Bye. I don't want a miracle, I want them to be as miserable as they make all their random teammates.

  • @Justalittlepeeck said:

You haven't played against old legion if you believe " literally having zero chance to do anything at all to defend yourself." can be said about deathslinger.

Read any topic about deathslinger and I assure you, you will find at least one person listing most counterplay to that killer.

The same counterplay to old legion applies to Deathslinger - stealth, rush gens and hope, because there's nothing you can do in a chase. Like it or not, just like Nurse, you cannot defend yourself against a decent Slinger.

And yes, I see plenty of people giving false counterplay that never works against even me, and I'm barely an acceptable Slinger. So..... Yeah.

  • Look, if those arsehole teammates let me go to second stage because they were too busy being SWF and not giving a damn, I'm not struggling. They can all die for all I care, because they didn't care about me.

  • Okay, first off, none of the "techs" you mentioned are of any use against even a Wraith or Trapper. They exist to bully noobs, something you can easily achieve against a Slinger.

That being said, he is a ridiculously low-counterplay killer and there's nothing really to be done about that. The game needs the variety that 110 killers bring, but nerfing his power would force him to be a 115 killer.

  • The perk is fine. I'm getting a little tired of the selfish comments about its use - it isn't for you. Nor is Zanshin Tactics, nor is Windows of Opportunity. It is a training perk and should be treated as such. Is is stupid that it's coming out on a DLC character? Yes, but they all are on DLC characters. Just because they are worthless to you doesn't make them worthless.

  • @Justalittlepeeck said:

So you are implying that you want to beat killer no matter how good he plays? The better the killer player is, the better you should be to overcome him.

There is a difference between a fair chase and literally having zero chance to do anything at all to defend yourself.

Gens can not be done within like 3 or 4 minutes if the Person playing killer is actually good with the killer and knows what he‘s doing. Except maybe clown but when we start balancing this game around the worst killers in the game then things will get bad real Quick.

I‘m not saying that nothing should be done to give killers a bit more time and make the experience less stressful, plus i do think at the highest Level of play gen Times can be seen as a bit of a Problem, but that would take many more Balance changes as some killers are already very good, giving them more time would possibly make them op. And of Course solo survivors would also need some help if the survivors objective time would be increased.

Wrong - all it takes is an unlucky early game and the killer has zero map pressure. It has literally nothing to do with skill - especially for m1 killers who, upon finding a survivor, eat pallets all day long because that is the current counterplay. No looping til the pallets down, and most maps have chainable tiles and strong pallets.

The only time gens are not done this quick is when the killer gets lucky or, for whatever reason, the survivors don't do them. It is admittedly common for survivors to take that second option... But as you said, we shouldn't balance around the weak links.

I'm no good at... quickscoping (?) (aiming and immediately firing) so I need my 2-4 seconds to aim... and they just keep standing/healing there... so, can it really be a latency thing?

Yep. They are probably waiting to hear the bang.

  • Whenever it comes, I hope it actually works and isn't just a rehash if the current ranged hit detection system. In fact, I hope it replaces the ranged hit detection system.

  • The game is definitely as balanced as it's ever been. All we need now is the proper distribution of tiles (no deadzones, no chains), better anti-stealth, better gen speeds and less powerful anti-loop killers, and the basekit of the game will actually be the best it can be. Interactive but not super unfair is the golden sweet spot for any PvP game.

  • It sounds like they are failing miserably at camping the pallet, which is pretty much the most misunderstood Deathslinger counterplay out there. News flash: drop the pallet early and rush gens, don't just stand there.

That being said, I think a lot of survivors get coddled by latency into thinking they can always drop the pallet even a split second after they get speared. I've done that so many times, it's honestly stupid that it's even a thing that works.

  • Tinkerer is good on mobility killers, because it now activates early enough for you to get there. Otherwise, it's a nice perk, and it has some nice synergies.

  • No, I think that came out just right :)

  • It depends on what perks you use and how you use them. I'm sorry, but if you slap on DS/UB then you are genuinely toxic, because you are exploiting a well-known combo that gives you effective immortality for an entire minute after being unhooked. I have yet to see any equivalent that killers can run that is that level of obnoxious.

Ah yes, I know if the killer is in... My Fov.

    Very helpful.

Yes, it is super helpful, because you can move your camera around and know exactly where they are in your FoV. It's almost like Whispers, but for survivor. Or reverse Spine Chill. You know exactly where the killer is coming from, and if you have any game sense you also know when you should leave the gen. It isn't as strong as it used to be, and still is against Freddy, but it is still the strongest info perk in the game even against stealth killers. Better than Spine Chill.
