  • Wraith. Predator is actively detrimental, bloodhound takes the place of accessibility settings, and Shadowborn is less useful than it is addictive (you don't need it on any killer. Any. Not even Nurse.)

  • I just want to say that I read that as "Sole" Survivor and spent way too long trying to figure out why that conclusion got reached before my brain stopped doing a dumb.

But no, I don't r ally see a difference, except now I have specific gens that I want done and that my team will totally ignore and make me annoyed because we don't get the special bonus BP.

  • On the bright side, a lot of perks means a lot of hidden gems, especially since they blur together more than ever now.

  • Isn't that just a frisbee with whipped cream topping? I could throw frisbee's with whipped cream. Death frisbees. With razor blades. And poisoned whipped cream.

  • Straw-man arguments and whattabouting are the backbone of the forums. Wait, no, the other thing - the slow, creeping poison that decays everything it touches til everything resembles a grey sludge with lumpy bits.

  • I think a lot of people played Billy for the pure simplicity. Get in, vroom vroom, chasey time. That's not so simple any more - sure, the overheat mechanic barely effects me, but the threat of having my power confiscated is just so naggingly oppressive. Then there's also the people that crutched Insta Saw, but the real drop in Billy feels like it came after the second rework (when they tweaked his Overheat to be somewhere between PTB and the initial live release).

I'm not a Billy main, though, or even really a Billy player, so my experiences may not be... Accurate? I can't English at the moment.

  • When I slam gens it's because I have no idea what's going through my teams head and I don't want to risk it being "someone else will do these."

Actual genrush squads though? The ones that bring in all the goodies and leave people on hooks to finish gens? Not super sure, tbh. I mean, sure, go ahead, genrush me. Not super impressive. It's like if I facecamped into NOED. It's a thing I can do to secure 2 kills, but it's not exactly impressive.

  • Sure. While we're at it, ban all survivors who farm, all survivors who bodyblock with BT, and all survivors who immediately sit on a generator.

  • Not really. Survivors have the strongest ones by far, Kindred and Bond. Nothing compares to those two except a well-coordinated SWF team. I know a lot of people think BBQ is strong, but that's mostly because it's easy to mistake something being run a lot for something being powerful. I'd actually say that the best killer aura perk is I'm All Ears.

  • ...no. I don't much care about ICP or juggalows, I just don't want to actively cater to them.

  • Honestly, I'd prefer for Bloodlust to be removed from the game entirely, since more than half the maps don't have any truly safe loops and true infinites are a thing of the past. It never really helps decent killers anyway - if you're mindgaming, you're gonna be breaking LoS a lot. It just sort of... Well, it gives killers the option to just hold W, and I'm not a fan of that playstyle being in the game in any form.

Dude I can so relate to the 2 adjacent hooks thing. I find myself basically always leaving them to look for another Survivor, blissfully ignorant about the fact I have them by the throat right then and there. I can´t even explain why tbh.

I just get bored, like I have killer-specific ADD. I can have as much chill downtime playing survivor (or almsot every other videogame in existence) as the game throws my way, but I cannot stop chasing people as killer. I get all twitchy.

I'm gonna find you! I spent too much time looking already to give up now...I'm just gonna slowly turn left to right next time it charges...

Okay! This area..oh there it is!!!! 😄😊

Using my Small Game to find totems can take soooo long sometimes, but I can't give up once I hear it go off...sorry team.

Me and @Eleghost never say never!

I have absolutely had similar situations. Or worse, when it goes off mid chase and suddenly I HAVE to know where the totem is for later and so I look around for the tiles near me and I see a potential totem spawn but it's on the other side of an object and suddenly Bubba's revving his bloody saw because I ran right past the pallet...

  • Yeah, I hate getting Freddy dailies. Play Spirit? Normal game. Play Slinger? Normal game. Play Legion? Normal game. Play Freddy? Someone's vault spamming inside of 20 seconds.

    What’s this thread?

Shoutouts to all the loveliest of people on the forum. I think. Maybe. It's kind of turned into "Oh, crap, I forgot about [BLANK]!"

  • Not that common at all, since I define camping and tunneling by their definitions. Which sounds super dumb to say, but there are so many people that think "camping" is "BT got activated" and "tunneling" is "DS got activated."

No. Just no. Camping is staying in one area, tunneling is getting tunnel vision.

  • Wait, so was the bug that she DIDN'T have an audio cue this whole time? Or is that line referencing her whoosh (in which case, super inaccurate description - that's like saying that the heartbeat tells you Trappers location)

Bugs are wierd and confusing and I want Surveillance back.

@MadLordJack So it doesn't matter when we get screwed over when the killer wants to be sweaty. I've had killers actually dc AFTER we loaded in and we had 3 bps stacked (which would benefit him too) but he wanted to be petty and waste it all.

Okay, well if you want to play that game, what about all the times killers, me included, have wasted global BP offerings on sweaty survivors? Like the two year 4 cakes I burned last night only to get bulldozed by full parties with the same perks? As someone who plays both sides, I can tell you right now that that is the more common scenario than a killer leaving you to bleed out on the floor.

  • Why? To screw over the nice killers that are just playing to have fun because of a toxic minority?

  • Maybe the number of times you've healed a survivor to full?

  • It would be so nice if BPS were a yellow offering and cakes/puddings were removed. Even if the reworked the effect down to 50% or something. It just feels kind of bad that so many players have to grind so heavily, anything to help would be worth giving the rest loads of whatever powerful consumables they buy with their BP's.

  • Oh, I hate this thread now. I'm gonna go cook some breakfast on my checks.

    Edit: cheeks.

And for that tiny minority that are simply out of luck, guess what... there are some awesome games that "I" cannot play because my system cannot handle them. It is unfortunate and one day I hope to have a system that can take it... but until then... I just play other games (like this one). Those Players will have to make peace with the same thing I did.

Not how that works. It's... So very, very not how that works.

  • @Moundshroud said:

Not to sound cold, but what about them? If someone is having these things happen often enough to create really long bans, I simply don't believe it. If it is their system crashing, they need to get ti sorted before trying again. If it is a Server crash (on BHVR's side) a WHOLE LOT OF US would know about it. If it is a Server providing his Internet, find a new provider.

Perhaps I just don't believe in leaving people behind whilst the significant majority of crybabies suicide instead. Perhaps I don't pretend that everyone is lucky enough to be near a server. And perhaps I long ago accepted that this is not a competitive game and so everyone should be welcome to interact regardless of their financial situation.

  • I agree. Survivors constantly getting their hats off on the first box? A chase power than only works if the survivors let it? A stealth power that hurts more than it helps thanks to it's insanely low speed? So unfair for the killer.

  • @Orion said:

If a few hours were enough, it wouldn't have reached 48 hours in the first place. In DbD, there's also no way to allow someone to reconnect without completely ruining the game's balance.

And what about crashes and server disconnects that give out the exact same punishment as a DC?

  • @Xbob42 said:

"even though it takes no skill to literally run up on a survivor until you're literally touching them and 1 hit down them with iri head."

    I'm sorry, what?

Look, I think we can all agree iri head is busted, and your change would be fine.

But if a Huntress, who is a 110 killer, is running up to you until she's literally touching you, then she probably has something resembling skill, or you're completely terrible/were caught out in the open for some reason. I mean at that point she can just hatchet/M1 you anyway for the same result.

It actually happens a lot more than you think. It's the basic Huntress play, and one of the many reasons she's so good: Get a close-range hit and quickly follow with an m1. Iri head just makes it so that it works even if the survivor holds W, because... Well, they can't since they'll go down in one hit.

I'd also like to point out that 110ms only really matters in loops - otherwise it's not that big a deal.

  • Depends on what you want. Oni, while difficult in his own right, is a much easier killer to pick up and play. Deathslinger is significantly harder. Oni is all about powering up and snowballing when you hit your peak. Deathslinger is about never giving them a chance and creating dead areas. Oni has amazing mobility, Slinger draws people to him both literally and metaphorically.

Holy Jesus! I have no words. Honestly, on either side I’d cry. Thank god I wasn’t around for that 😌

To be fair, people were also way more chill back then. Sure, there was a lot of eye-watering stuff, but for all the potential knives in the gut no-one really jammed them in and twisted for full effect like they do now.

  • Because something about comparative fairness.

  • At the moment? Desperate Measures. It's good by itself, but it also has a lot of synergy.

  • @OniWantsYourMacaroni said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1714526#Comment_1714526

I mean, the game has become a LOT less unfair since it launched.

I'm pretty sure this game would have been already dead if the devs didn't work on removing the unfair things in this game

Common misconception. They don't remove unfair things, they remove unfun things. If they removed unfair things then we'd be saying goodbye to keys, mori's, multi-heal/rapid heal medkits, nurse, spirit, swf, noed, devour hope, Deathslinger, hag, pyramid head, Iri head, Iri seal, black Insence, tombstone piece, autoheals, styptics, exhaustion add-ons, dead hard, unbreakable, adrenaline, DS, enduring, Undying, ruin, Kobe, Deliverence, second wind, thrilling tremors, Freddy... I don't even think I'm close to being finished, but I hope you get the point. This game is full of unfairness of varying degrees. I don't think that keys are fair, but I also don't think that the hatch offerings are what make it that way, and I think we all know just how impressive or prestigious it is to key out.

  • I'm gonna assume you know about mindgaming, looping, leaving good survivors alone, perks, all that stuff.

Okay, first: totally okay for a couple of generators to pop before you get a down. That's actually what the game is balanced around, if you can believe that (they seriously punish your Gatekeeper emblem for something that's supposed to happen???).

Second, you've got to snowball and apply pressure and generally do things that violate the Survivors Rulebook for Killers. If you've got someone on a hook and another hooked survivor, a slug or a nearly-finished generator beside them, there's no reason to get too far away. And seriously: Slug. Slug slug slug. It is the only real way to snowball map pressure. If you down someone and have another survivor nearby, don't bother hooking. Chase. Unless they are a full team on comms and can pick themselves up, that's 3 people not working on generators: the slug, the chased person, and the one that has to run over and pick up the slug.

And a really important part is finding a killer you're good at or just enjoy. Personally, I like Blight and Slinger, who are some of the strongest killers. Unfortunately for me, they are two of the hardest killers in the game. In fact, I'd probably say that Slinger is THE hardest killer to play if you don't have a background in shooters, so you're heavily disadvantaging yourself by maining him. But, he's also super fun, so... Yay Slinger?

  • A lot of people - and I mean a significant majority - just don't realise that they don't need excuses to run strong things. They whattabout this and whattabout that and instead of having an actual reasoned argument they just point at something else and attack it. Or worse, completly ignore any reasoned argument and just say it's all the other side's fault.

Which may sound off-base, but it's not. It's a core issue, alongside not really playing both sides for a significant amount of time. Both breed entitlement. It'd be better for the community if everyone abused the living hell out of the all of strongest things (not just what their own side has), experienced it from all perspectives and realise "oh, wow, this is actually super abusable and not okay."

But people don't, because its easier to stick your fingers in your ears and go "la la la la la" than to admit your favourite toys are broken.

  • I mostly just hate the kind of Trapper that uses Agitation. All the rest are kind of sad because if there's long grass at a tile you just drop the pallet instantly and there's nothing they can do.

  • Then this entire game is a bad thing and why are we even playing it.

  • ... Huh? Buff the strongest killer in the game, or nerf her only competition? I mean... Nerf Spirit, I guess.

  • @TheButcher said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1714113#Comment_1714113

It's not fair. If you have played any lengthy period as Killer you would know that the go to Survivor strat as the last survivor is to learn where the hatch is, and if you know that the Killer knows where the hatch is. You hide out at the furthest door from the hatch - most Killers all don't have the movement speed for most maps to traverse across the whole map from the hatch the furthest door before you can open it.

Killers are required to track 3 exits constantly simply because the hatch exists already. Now nobody even has to bother finding it. They literally just guaranteed the last survivor an escape every time no matter what.

That's not even going into great detail about how dumb it is that they can bring key's as well - knowing exactly where the hatch will spawn and when.

Nothing about DbD is fair, and that's not a bad thing or else it would be just another competitive miserfest.

So what, someone gets a free escape. Who really cares? This game is so inherently unbalanced that that means nothing, there's so many things, big and small, that go into these situations.

  • I tried that with Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Since that game I have adamantly done everything I can to not follow instructions.

  • Yes. Bring murderbeans to DbD. I will stab survivors with my tongue and walk around with a small version of me on my head.

Wait, what were we talking about? Mini games? Sure, if they have reduced opacity. The last thing we need is forced spine chill, but it would be so much better than the current m1 simulator.

  • Something about the killer also knowing where it is, lets all ignore the fact that that never helped in the instances where everyone knew where the hatch was.

It doesn't really matter though, if someone's petty enough to think that keying out is actually worth something or shows skill, whatever. Let them have their fun. It's kind of like... I dunno, Devour Hope with a Dead Dawg offering. Not exactly impressive, but whatever.

Your problem isn't undying then, it's your teammates. Stop trying to solve problems related to your teams sucking ass by changing perks. Make the game encourage people to not suck.

But then the killers would never win because the game isn't balanced around having 4 decent survivors and it will literally never be.

And that's still not the issue. The issue is not knowing who is doing what and the extreme amount of time that wastes. Even a totem counter wouldn't fix that.

  • @Xbob42 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1713131#Comment_1713131

I mean, if you count travel time, sure. Not with my luck, since my totems tend to spawn 5 feet from generators, but 5 x 14 = 70, so doing all 5 totems is 10 seconds less than a solo gen with no perks/toolbox. Considering survivors seem perfectly okay with running half a minute to a corner of the map to self-care for 32 seconds, I can't see it being a tremendous burden on solo queue except they just don't want to.

Then perhaps you should try actually playing solo que instead of making assumptions.

  • Theres a reason the counterplay to NOED is not to cleanse totems. Hex perks used to be underpowered, true, but Undying can force a similar situation to NOED (having to cleanse every totem) whilst protecting... Let's be honest, Ruin is the only active-ability Hex it's good with.

Survivors don't have the tools to do totems, not at base. Even the perks and item add-ons are bad and don't really help all that much. The problem is the fact that cleansing so many totems adds more than an entire generator's worth of time waste that solo que just cannot deal with.

"Seriously, why are there so many genuinely unplayable things in this game? God pallets, god windows, infinites, mega unsafe pallets...." and campers, tunnelers, sluggers, moris, iri heads,....

None of those are map features that can potentially be in any or every trial regardless of what the players bring. Please provide some proper examples and don't make this an Us Vs Them pile of nonsense.

  • It kind of reminds me of the Samination plot line, if it were a much darker drama instead of a comedy.
