If he isnt reeling you in at all you can go around him, yes. But when he is reeling you you are forced into a cone thats either 45 or 90 degree. If you try to move past that angle you just glide in place as if there is a wall there.

No, if he's walking backwards you cannot move around very much, but if he's walking in any other direction or standing still then you could theoretically spin in circles around him if not for the fact that there's usually obstacles in the way.

  • Powerful, simple, easy-to-use builds carry players up the ranking system because, well, it's ever so slightly broken, so they are a lot more common in red ranks.

  • Ahh, yes, the hypocrisy. A pity, but it's even stranger to see such people NOT blaming the other side.

  • Personally, it's a mixture of his broken reveal mechanic and the fact that every Ghostface I go against just hardcore tunnels, using Night Shroud while walking away to make it seem like they've left before waiting nearby.

Since the 2x Bloodpoints events, it's almost non-stop nurse for me, i'm slowly getting the hang of it. She was my first killer that I've ever played back in 2017 and i never touched her again until now. She's a blast.

I'm working on Billy to land hits better, Nurse, and I've been working on some other killers, I mostly play Clown, Demo, Ph, Doc, and some billy. SO I think I need to play more than those killers, and more of GF, Myers, and so on and so forth

With Nurse, just remember the classic first-for-distance, second-to-hit rule, and to not be afraid to float around a bit, and you'll win most of your games even if you aren't the greatest at landing blinks (so long as you still land the majority).

Sorry you don't like it! While I doubt this will enter PTB you can imagine basic scenaries with this Tweak and see how it could play out?

The parts I didn't like we're the generator effects, and the increased ADS after hitting. It becomes Nurse syndrome: Making a killer harder to play doesn't remove the core issue.

With these changes, Slinger would play more like an m1 killer, which would be good for overall balance, but the new play would become STBFL Redeemer-into-m1, which is already an extremely strong play but is currently as a 110 killer. This nullifies the effect of the increased ADS after hitting, and practically becomes a ranged instadown. Plus, Slinger doesn't kick gens that much, so it might be overkill to give him that ability as well.

Edit: I should clarify, the increased post-hit ADS would force that to be the only play, which while difficult is still strong

  • I've been thinking this over and, while I don't love it, I would like to see it in a PTB. I think it would make him a more well-rounded killer, instead of the hyper-agressive chase God with a side helping of absolutely no map pressure outside of a snowball he currently is.

  • So long as they buff him in another area, I'm all for it. Though I see why a lot of people think he's underpowered - I've been losing almsot every trial while I try to get back in the groove.

  • I watch streamers, I don't have it, but I never wanted it so I don't think I'm being particularly helpful.

But both Otz and Tofu said they had about a thousand to give away (I think, don't quote me) which is about half their audiences. That should hopefully be plenty of other major DbD streamers got similar numbers.

"Threads are biased, sure, but not the forum" - isnt the forum the accumulation of threads? And if you agree that the threads are biased doesnt that mean that the forum is therefore biased?

If one thread is survivor biased and one thread is killer biased, are those two threads killer biased?

  • @SleepyWillo said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1721353#Comment_1721353

Generally when someones asks for proof they are never satisfied with whatever proof they are given. So I will ask you what proof would satisfy you if provided?

If youre willing to accept something very basic then how about a thread you've recently commented on: "Whats Something You'd Like To Get Better At?"

The responses on this thread alone seem to be 2:1 in the form of Killer:Survivor. This is generally seen on most threads. You can also comparatively examine the upvotes on objectively "killer sided" topics compared to "survivor sided topics"...

Except I don't really see that even when I look for it. If the forjms are truly biased I want to help fix it, but I never see it and no-one ever offers real proof. Threads are biased, sure, but not the forum. I go into plenty of threads where people only look at one side or another and when I offer the contrarian opinion I get the same amount of hate. And I call out people claiming the forums are survivor sided as well and they offer me similar responses.

And if you're going to look through my history, at least get the context right as well as the facts. I created that thread, and asked about specific skills people were trying to improve. My personal example was Deathslinger, which I get more hate for saying I play than saying I want nerfed. That aside, the opening context and fact that killers have DRASTICALLY more skills to actually learn means that, naturally, people are going to be talking more about killer-specific skills than both general skills and survivor-specific skills in the first place. If you want to dig through my history a little more, you are perfectly welcome, so long as you remember that, as a human being, my opinions do shift.

And, if I'm being completely honest, whenever I defend survivors I get far more agreement than when I defend killers. Admittedly, I defend survivors more than killers, but I'm talking about the average ratio, not overall number. I'm not attempting to suggest the forums are survivor sided, just something I've been chewing on for a few months now.

These forums are primarily killer sided. Thankfully the devs dont adjust the game based on threads posted here.

You know, people always say that but every time I ask for proof I never get a proper reply. Still, I'm a sucker for beating my head against a wall, so... Proof?

  • From what I just read, it seems like someone trying to justify their behaviour by blaming the opposition. Scott Jund did a great video in it called... I dont remember the name, but it had "Player Entitlement" in it. It was a decent showcase of how much people's desire to be seen favourably twists their personal reality.

    I don’t get it...

If it is demonstrably likely that you’re going into a match with Ruin/Undying because it’s been in most matches, then you could:

    • equip Small Game
    • Or equip Detective’s Hunch
    • or take in a map with the twine that detects killer belongings, or a rainbow map.

If you choose NOT to use one of those 3 things when you KNOW there is a high probability most killers you are facing run Hexes, then that’s on YOU, and NOT the killer or your team mates.

To be fair, I know most totem spawns and this combo still gets me just on how insanely strong it is if the entire team isn't focused on doing totems and/or you don't get Undying first. It is essentially the Solo Que stomper combo, because nothing capitalises on lack of communication like Hex perks.

  • Yeah, that's actually pretty brutal as challenges go. 6 lethal rushes is at the upper limit of what to expect in most trials iny experience, sinc emost of the time your power is more about threatening and mobility than directly attacking

  • It seems to be an attempt to give Legion a downside - theirs is the easiest to use and least counterable ability in the game, so they have to at least have seen or heard you before they go into it.

Dragon's Grip is a lovely perk, isn't it? Blight had a surprising build, I love his personal perks and his power so much. And kindred is my favorite aside from urban, since there's no excuse for not going to the hook!! For the team :)!

Unfortunately, it also means that your teammates have no excuse for leaving you, and yet...

Nah, if I actually cared I wouldn't be healing people all the time.

  • Overall? Kindred, Botany Knowledge, Desperate Measures, Self Care. It's basically the build to keep everyone at full health all the time.

I've also been experimenting with some Slinger builds lately, and I've been enjoying BBQ, Sloppy Butcher, Nurses Calling and Deathbound. A wierder one is Dark Devotion, Trail of Torment, Dragons Grip and Make Your Choice.

  • I completely forgot that last night was Halloween. Not that big a deal in NZ, to be honest. If I had remembered, I probably would have still done exactly what I did: play some DbD and watch stuff.

  • I think the only tier 3 perks I have on Laurie are DS and OoO, but if you insist...

  • Drawing out the trial, sure. Holding it hostage? No, that's something completely different. That would be if you were 99ing gens with zero traps left and refusing to finish any of them ever. Just running around, keeping them all at 99, doing sinister things in the shadows as the terrified form of Amanda creeps past, looking over her shoulder as a twig snaps behind her...

  • Because he is the ultimate chase killer. A good Slinger trumps literally anything the survivor can do with extreme efficiency, leaving the survivors with no real option in a chase but drop pallets and hope. And that's without mentioning the fact that quickscoping and projectile speed means he is always a threat because you cannot react to a shot if you're within about 10m, and that limit is assuming you're a pro esports player on stimulants. It is a limitation of human physiology.

I love Slinger, I think he's one of the strongest killers in the game and I enjoy playing him more than almost all the rest, but I don't think that's healthy gameplay to put players in unwinnable situations as the norm.

That is nice if this was your experience, but this wasn't the case for a lot of other people. The DC penalty wouldn't exist if DCs weren't a rampaging issue.

Also I have adviced you to check out the Technical Issues Sub-Forum to see if this issue has been reported already and if someone has found a way how to fix this.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1719354#Comment_1719354

Only as much as the user. The moderation team does not have any special insights on any statistics.

Damn, but it was worth an ask. I'd be a lot less critical of the whole DC penalties situation if I didn't watch someone suicide every other trial and ruin everyone's experience in the exact same way while people like the OP are getting (potentially) unfair punishments, but I guess we all just have to hope the Devs enact something soon.

  • I know this is off topic, but has anyone else just been coming back to this thread to check out the appreciation people throw at each other? It's so warm and fuzzy.

  • @Gay Myers (Luzi) said:

I'm sorry you're experiencing errors that cause your game to crash. The DC penalty is needed for the games health though. Previously people kept DCing every match and the penalty helps to reduce this.

Someone leaving the game for whatever reason does ruin the game for others, even if it wasn't intentional.

I do want to point out that the DC penalty starts low and does not start at 6 hours. This means this has happened before as the DC penalty has been designed to already take IRL emergencies into account. If this error has been happening to you for a while, please use the search function and limit it to the Technical Issues Sub-Forum to see if this issue has been reported already. You might be able to find a fix for it. This is the link to it: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/categories/technical-issues

If you can't find that it has been reported already, you're free to create a thread asking for help to fix it.

But the DC penalty is here to stay to help the games health. Even if it's not intentional, it still leaves four players with a possible ruined experience as they're left to play alone in a scenario that should have been a 4v1.

So do the mods have any special insight into suicide penalties?

Let me put it this way. In my line of work, I´ve had to rather strongly bring people to back down and not push things even when they were in the right. In the past, I´ve worked with people that can´t be argued with. They will take any oppurtunity to hurt and abuse people in extreme ways. So in order for them not to get hurt unneccessarily bad it was the better deal to just leave it be.

Which translates to "The ones with power can be bullies, so keep your head down." I disagree with that. Keeping your head down is the worst thing you can do.

  • While I do perfectly understand and have related a similar message before, I no longer agree with it in its entirety. Not after some of the behaviour I have seen endorsed.

  • It's probably a well-intentioned attempt to give her counterplay (you know, charge at the nurse and hope she overblinks in pure shock)

  • How long did the endurance effect have left? Could you tell?

  • Uh, the game isn't really balanced around solo que, if it was I wouldn't consider it a free win.

  • It would be nice if people didn't abuse anti-tunnel perks. Give DS a ten-second stun and a free health state for all I care, so long as it magically only activates when someone actually puts on their metaphorical blinders.

Edit: also make it base kit.

  • ... What? WHAT? Why those offerings? Why all those rare offerings and NO SABO?

I'd expect at least 1 toolbox...

  • There's no fixing it, because nothing is wrong. You just have to wait for tier 3 BBQ and Chili to reappear in the bloodweb, and in the meantime you should probably buy the teachable version so that you can get it on any future characters, and also so that that specific perk node (there are a guaranteed number of them per bloodweb, up to 4 at level 50) stops getting taken up by the same thing every single bloodweb.

  • I mean, it only takes a second for five gens to become three, or even two. If the killer has an easy chase lined up, why not just take the double map pressure?

  • Congrats, that image is now burned into my brain and it won't come out.

It doesn't seem a good pick for Hag, but maybe run it with a Devour Hope or Make Your Choice build to quickly dash away from pretrapped hooks?

  • In order to unlock the perk, you have to buy it before it gets greyed out by The Entity. The third picture is showing the Teachable version of BBQ and Chili - when you buy it, it makes the perk appear in the Bloodweb of all the killers from now on, even if you prestige the character. Buying the Teachable version does absolutely nothing for your current character except stop it from appearing in the Bloodweb. The Teachable version is guaranteed to appear at whatever character level the character's description says it will, either level 30/35/40. It will continue to appear in all of the characters future bloodwebs until you buy it. You can tell it's a teachable perk because instead of being yellow, green or purple, it's orange (and it has the same description as the tier 1 version.)

  • All I rember is pretty new Suzie skin. Apparently there were also firecrackers and a theme and gen reskins. Guess it really was an event. But it also wasnt advertised as some big, huge EVENT!-style event so I'm pretty chill about it.

  • @GoodBoyKaru said:

Worst halloween event? Yeah. Worst event in general? Ehhh, imo the winter solstice events and this years lunar year event (I think it was called Scarlet Swarm?) were significantly worse than this one; at least we have 2 items, 2 addons, and a universal killer addon this time round, and special event gens, and free currency. In the winter solstice we got firecrackers and in Scarlet Swarm we got firecrackers, charms for logging in, a nea shirt for logging in, and a Dwight cap for logging in.

Is it a good event? Nowhere near, 3rd worst. But is it THE worst? Not imo.

BHVR please make another Moonrise event like in 2019 please. I'm ######### begging that event was so ######### good.

Wait, there was titled lunar new year event this year? Not even being sarcastic, I was playing that whole time and never even knew it was an actual event, I just thought it was a few new skins and a bloodhunt

  • Go with Jack. I've been rolling with it for years now.

  • Short answer? $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Long answer? Big, addiction-prone viewership that will totally follow their god to whatever multiplayer game he plays next and pump in cash like they're filling a ball with a hole in the bladder.

  • Someone that would actually listen to Fog Whisperers. I don't care if it's Laurie from accounting with zero programming experience, just ANYONE that uses that valuable well of information.

  • You're not wrong, and that is exactly what the Devs claim to do, but the problem is that the Devs worship the basic, end-result statistics and never take into account anything else ever in the history of DbD. Example: OoO isn't a problem perk, it's actually underpowered.

No-one in their right mind would ever think that. So why do the Devs? Well, they look at the escape rate for OoO users. Nothing else, just the escape rate. Not SWF status, not team escape rate, not player MMR (I know it's running in the background, gathering data, Devs), just the specific players escape rate. For a perk that gets you hardcore tunneled and facecamped as often as not, thus giving your teammates time to escape.

This is just one example of their insane desire to worship end-result, narrow-focus statistics. Which means that their idea of what need nerfed and what doesn't often has no correlation either to balance OR fun.

  • Anything to fix the activation would be great. It's an extremely strong perk (as all autohealing perks are) but it's prerequisite is very... Comm-dependent.

  • My favourite killer to go against at the moment is, shockingly, Spirit. Even though it's practically confirmed that the bug is getting patched out, I'm enjoying testing the new limits and counterplay that it has against bad Spirits, which so far has been every Spirit I have come up against bar 1.

My least favourite killer is Nurse. I hate playing against Nurses, because either it's a good Nurse that's got on-point blinks and therefore zero counterplay except holding W, or a bad Nurse that people use to justify Nurse. A close second is probably Bubba just because Hold W is everything about him there is thanks to Bamboozle.

  • There's only 1 truly killer-sided map in the game, and that's Azarovs. No matter what, the killer always has a distinct advantage. All the rest that people like to claim to be killer sided? They're either stealth-focused maps, or for some wierd reason The Game, the map where every single pallet is a god pallet that is completely unplayable but for some reason people call the map killer sided because once they're gone it's a complete deadzone... Like most maps.

That's not to say that RNG doesn't create killer-sided maps, but a map is truly one-sided when even it's worst RNG favours that side (Haddonfield, Ormond, Blood Lodge, Rotten Fields, etc.)
