Anecdotal but I know far more people that have given up on survivor than those that have given up on killer. When killer queues get long I see plenty of TTVs refusing to use Play While You Wait and never playing survivor. I personally don't play much survivor anymore because of how hard you need to sweat to even stand a chance of escaping (unless you face a killer that is clearly newer). I'm not trying to downplay stress on the killer side btw, I completely agree that it is the more stressful role but the people I actually see giving up one side are giving up survivor not killer.
I saw doja cat ragequit after being killed during the tutorial bot game and my first reaction was "Welp... at least THAT one cant be blamed on the community". I know people can be stressed out while playing either role, I just wish the player toxicity wasn't essentially approved. If I hop on warframe right now and start spamming harassment on chat, im at MINIMUM getting blocked from chat. If that happens in DBD, the general response from ppl is "Have you tried not looking?" People wouldn't be writing the stuff they do if there was consequences. Reporting for ingame goes nowhere if your on PC, meanwhile if ppl blow up my PS chat with vulgarity instead... there's not even a report button. Are we just at the point where if you lay down consequences for obvious abuse, too many players would get bans?

I wouldn't be opposed to trying it. Only issue I can think of as a F13 refugee is that this is how you get teamers and people quitting if they don't get killer. it's harder to call out here because you can be in an Xbox party and rat out your team
I remember seeing another game trying it where everyone would spawn in as a survivor and wouldn't have a clue who would turn into the monster once the timer hits 0 to start the game kinda like Among us in that sense.

If you want to play with bots, you can already do that and you'd get an instant lobby. Let's leave the people lobbies as people lobbies.

Tbagging is always going to be prevalent in PVP games, so your metaphor doesn't really work. It's just something you're going to have to learn to deal with, and I know that sounds cold and cliche, but it's the truth. Otherwise, you're just not going to be able to have a good time. I get it, it's tilting and frustrating, but like I said before, it's okay to take a break and come back in a better mind state.
Tbagging is the most inconsequential part of this whole conversation. I cannot stress enough, the biggest part is that all the pressure is applied to a single person. That is the difference between this and every other game. Even a normally small amount of pressure will cause cracks if you aim it at a single point. Please...stop hyperfixing on specifically t bagging as if im trying to argue that is the cause of all evil.

I literally just said I turn off all of my messages for any new system I get. I turned it off for my Xbox when I was playing Overwatch, and I turned it off immediately when I started using steam. I know how awful people get when playing PVP games, and I'd rather not deal with that. So yeah, it is that simple. I don't know why you're disagreeing and fighting me on that fact.
I'm just saying that I've never seen a pvp game to where so many people have such a strong response to something that's been in the gaming sphere since the conception of PVP.
You've done nothing bot make excessive assumptions and argue from those assumptions. I agree that sending harrassing messages and making toxic comments is bad, but if it's simply tbagging and nothing more, it's nothing to get upset over. If you're feeling too tilted, then just take a break. It's okay to do so, and it happens to the best of us.How many asymmetrical pvp games do you have on that list? Comparing a typical pvp to THIS is like comparing a mallet to an ice pick. Your gonna see cracks much sooner when all the pressure is applied to single point. Maybe instead of telling the guy getting stoned that he should wear a helmet when he leaves the house, you could argue against tossing the stones... even if its the smallest stone there is (teabagging is that small stone incase it wasn't obvious in the metaphor).

Do you not see the countless forum threads and reddit posts and such specifically complaining about the tea bagging? If it's just the tea bagging, it's nothing to get upset over. If you're afraid of getting messages from random players that want to harrass you, turn off public messages and set it to friends only. That alleviates so much stress, and you never have to worry about the random angry comment outside of the game.
How many other games do you play where you'd be giving this advice? "Yeah, I know this is just fall guys, but you should probably set your stuff to private, turn off messages and change your address cuz the whole lobby is gonna try to make you miserable no matter which way the match goes".
Do you think all the super sensitive people just collectively came to the same game rather than think that maybe this game is much more stressful to 1 single player than other PVP games?

Except that I am specifically talking about crouching. You're making it about other forms of harassment, which yes, are bad and should not be tolerated. Tea Bagging isn't that deep.
And yes, you can revenge bm the target too in this game, I'm not sure why you're stating you can't.Im stating unlike other games, you go into every game knowing that 95% of every negative interaction will be directed to you as opposed to other players. You see people saying they cant handle the stress and you think it was the TBAGGING? That was just the cherry on top of a mountain.

It's just a crouching animation, and it's not that serious. Again, if you can't handle a crouching animation to the point where you start shaking and have a mental breakdown, you don't need to be playing pvp games in general for your own well being.
Except its not just a crouching animation. You have ppl trying every avenue they can to harass you. You even have teams set up with no goal to actually win, but rather to target 1 player specifically and make them as miserable as possible. It doesnt surprise me that people dont wanna be the designated target. In other PVP games you at least get to know it might be someone ELSES turn to be on the receiving end. In this game, its just seen as something you have to deal with to be spammed hate messages and have your steam profile covered in -rep messages.

I mean I know people who won't play DBD period coz it's stressful, making it all about one side is hardly fair, there needs to be a more forgiving experience for both sides. I've been advocating for this for ages.
Survivors need a way to fight back against extreme slugging like 2v8 anti slug, tunneling on the high tiers is also harsh.
Killers need fresh hook incentives or something to help them bounce back from losing a lot of pressure, something to ease the blow of a really bad chase.
People like Spookyloopz while they are right people are using the opinion to us vs them, it's a DBD issue, not a killer issue, just look at all the people coming back exclusively for 2v8 survivor side.I was just bringing up THAT aspect because you have ppl who haven't given up the game entirely, just 1 role.

I think they probably did mistype one of the numbers. Probably the heal quest tbh, I reckon it should have been much higher. They'd have all the stats and know the numbers.
I feel like if the challenge was 175million HEALS, we would've finished that already.
-
@Mandy said:
Just spoke with the Team about this one to check the numbers, they'll take a look and do some adjustments if necessary! Thanks for bringing it up here..
Im just curious, any clue why the requirements for the 2 challenges were so drastically different? I feel like the average number of heals per game would be about the same or even MORE than the number of hooks per match.

Tea bagging isn't a big deal, and DBD is the only game I've seen where the player base have actual mental breakdowns over it. If you can't handle tea bagging, you can't handle pvp games.
You generally dont have groups of ppl team up against 1 guy in those other games though. Im sure there would be more breakdowns in COD lobbies if all negative interactions were directed to a single player.

Literally this, it's not exclusive to one role or game I feel.
I mean you have people who are survivor only NOW because they got stressed out from playing killer. Only looking at the people we have left and saying "theyre doing fine" ironically is called survivorship bias.

While I do agree its a thing, it's barely hurting the killer queues rn, they are always a few minutes long for a good reason. I feel its a competitive game thing in general.
You actually have plenty of survivor only players who've effectively been permanently chased away from the role because of the stress.

How would you account for playing with friends?
Not sure... feel like it would work fine in a full 5 person group but you have the risk of working with the killer with less.
-
What if there was no separate killer and survivor queues? What if everyone picked both a survivor and killer loadout and the game just picked from the 5 players in the lobby who gets to be killer this round. That would do away with survivor or killer mains since everyone has the same play time on both roles and can really understand what both sides are like.

I agree, but if they take the same sort of philosophy for the nerfs in the future they'd be good. Minor nerfs at the stronger parts of his kit until he feels better to play against for survivors.
You can make an infinite number of nerfs on that lvl and it would feel the exact same. Survivors felt 0 difference with that change, lol. If it somehow acts as placebo in making people FEEL better...great i guess? I kinda wanna see them make a whole slew of other "nerfs" that completely miss the point just for the chuckles. A nerf to huntress deerskin gloves the keeps the speed exactly the same but now she opens the locker with her OTHER hand.

I feel like its a healthy bit of both. He is strong, he is a lot lower of a skill floor then other killers of his power level, and he currently doesn't feel very punishing in power. I don't blame Survivors wanting nerfs to him. I feel like some minor nerfs would massively help his image and peoples fun vs him in the game.
The deputy badge nerf was a step in the right direction, because it was a minor adjustment on the things that are strong on him to make him feel less oppressive.
The deputy badge nerf was essentially nothing. It was just a note people could point at and say "look, a nerf happened" that doesnt actually effect gameplay. They could reduce the range to 0 and it wouldn't matter since the whole point was you can regress gens while in OE, not that the range was somehow helpful. I promise you no one that used it before saw the changes and switched off because of it.

@Abyast1 said:

Oh absolutely, and lets be clear id be fine with that. Currently they usually have 2 reloads readily available per chase without OE, if you miss 2/3 shots you should be punished, because the rest of his kit isn't very punishing and allows for snowball esq effects.
Theres 1 of 2 worlds in which i see their nerfs:
A) make one part of his kit useless but buff the other part, so hes forced to take perks to supplement it and hope this doesn't kill his playability (this would remove the hex build issue aswell)
B) Make minor targetted nerfs that punish him missing ect whilst not making him feel clunky, and with a minor power tone down he hopefully is seen as more fun to play against.
Don't get me wrong, a lot of the complaining is because solo-queue is a pain, and solo queue survivors make jason unbearable because theyre unwilling to take chase. But there is some nerfs to be had, my suggestions are:
Reduce scrap heap spawns, Decrease haste out of power to 10s, slight increase in Power cd by like 5-9s.
These would mean that correct decision making, and outplaying him feel rewarding, whilst also not making him clunky and removing too much power from his kit
I feel like alot of the nerfs ppl ask for is just so they can maybe see the killer less often. Right after the deputy badge nerf I had someone like "SEE!!! They nerfed it", meanwhile im just scratching my head thinking it basically changed nothing. The "bug" basically had no real impact since you could only do it 1 time per use of OE, but it seemed super impactful when a YouTube edits like 80 seconds of footage to show a 99% gen get regressed to 50%.

I've played against jason maybe 50 times now, Ive enjoyed around half of them (and yes majority of the ones I didn't enjoy were against the hex jason build). I don't hate playing against jason, It definitely is worse than the majority of killers, but IMO could be a lot worse, I feel like dodging is rewarding, and jason struggles against jungle gyms (if you can find one/get to one and use the tls you can just make his life a living hell).
And yeah I can also understand why people don't enjoy him, he doesnt get punished anywhere near as hard as he could given the other parts of his kit, so would like him missing his ranged attack/ a survivor correctly predicting where he appears to mean more. But I also don't want him gutted, like some have asked for, because he is enjoyable to play as, and with a few minor tweaks would be enjoyable to play against.
But yeah, IDK whats going on with those animation bugs, maybe they should give him a slower arrival, thats another smaller nerf that could be added to my list id be fine with.
I feel like alot of his jungle gym/pallet loop gameplay is similar to nemesis or xeno except if THEY miss, they can try again. Some of the people on here saying Jason ONLY has to wait 12 seconds after a miss to OE over to a reload spot to try again is kinda nuts for that. This is also ignoring that he has the same exact need to reload if he hits. You arnt just making misses more punishing but making HITS more punishing too if you do things like reduce reload spots.

The crayon consumer needs his free injure completely removed and his mobility buffed. Another possible tier-up for a fourth leap could be an option.
Also, his crayon-fueled power hitbox going over three tiles and four walls needs to be adjusted heavily.
Lastly, old legion left click spam shouldn't be a thing. If you misclick while aiming your leap and you don't target a valid leap point, you loose your power. I think trying it without a fatigue first to get a feel is fine, but a fatigue as punishment for power misuse could be a possible nerf after my rework suggestions.
Add skill expression, remove uga buga crayon freebies.
I feel like people would have issues going against "Blight 2" as well though. Blight just got nerfed to 4.4, people would demand the same from Kaneki.

I'll play some practice games against bots, especially if its a killer im inexperienced with. After that... just kinda try your best. Some matches are gonna be significantly more chill than others while some are gonna be stressful. If it becomes too much and your carrying stress over to your next match, just play something else for awhile whether thats a different killer, survivor, or even a different game. so it's a survivor issue at the end of the day
In a way. It would be like if people hid in lockers everytime they heard Doc's TR. Considering perks and addons can make that TR huge... that could result in someone living in a locker til the AFK crows come. AFK crows were introduced to prevent cases where survivors were spending ungodlike amount of time stealthing around the map and avoiding touching the objectives.

I dont really have any strong feelings about individual perks. Theres some combinations I think is dumb and I dont agree with, but dont have an issue with the perks themselves.

OE isn't comparable to anything else in the game. Sure, killers can see without an ability with just their eyes, but survivors can see them too. You can also just choose the right time to not be findable by utilizing other information, or perks. The only killer you can't deny your location from is Legion. But you can't deny a killer the information if you have zero ways to know where he is. If Jason gets all this free info their should be a visual that shows his presence.
The only things even slightly comparable to OE are Draculas'a bats and Henry's Undergate. But both make a lot noise, both are visible, neither get KI. Pretty sure everyone just waits for Dracula to fly by before getting on a gen. Henry is wrecked by prerunnng when he performs his very slow and obvious ascension from the ground. He also has a proper cooldown on his traversal ability and gets no free haste despite also being a 4.4.
I honestly don't know how you can view this as cool. He's power crept every teleporting and traversal killer and gets an absurd amount of info just for existing.
I feel like stripping some of the info would make sense if he got other ways to detect survivors. As it stands, he cant see or hear them. The tracking methods Spirit and Dracula have are completely absent here. Theres no sounds of breathing, grunts of pain, footsteps, ect.

if the jadon is going around in OE using deputy badge blowing though his 8 kicks not checking the area checking 4 seperate gens that helps survivors since jason is running out of kicks while survivors aren't using pallets or windows so jason is just throwing since he isn't taking a chase
The entire point is survivors arnt doing that. Theres actually another thread on here on survivors asking for AFK crows to go away because they keep getting them from not touching gens. The idea that Jason might put 2 and 2 together and come out of OE on THEIR gen to look around means they'll not only not touch the gen, they'll crouch walk all the way to the hook to get a rescue. This is stealth gameplay to the extreme.

How long ago was this narrative invented that when an OP killer comes out it's somehow the survivors' fault?
P.S. They nerfed/fixed Deputy's Badge so that should help a little now
They reduced the range from 4 to 2, which in practice makes no change. The extra hits if you passed by thing is actually something I appreciate since I kept accidentally wasting gen regression events walking past.
-
@jesterkind said:
Surely nobody is crouching enough in a Jason match to actually be getting crows?
You don't crouch all the time, you only crouch if you need to avoid him finding you at that moment. If you're in a solid position and the gen you're doing isn't as important comparatively, you wouldn't even bother letting go of that gen at all, just let him see you.
I think some people have got it in their heads the only way to counter Jason is to make sure he never sees you at all, but that's not really how it works. You CAN make sure he doesn't see you, IF you need the heat to be on someone else (injured on death hook, doing an important central gen, etc).
No... people are infact crouching until they get crows. Jason is gonna get nerfed because he beats players who won't work un gens if they suspect they could get chased next.

yea then i said the jasons who use it pass through the area instead of checking the area so if you just wait a second or 2 work on the gen and he'll burn through his kicks
That works until every gen is regressing except the ones being worked on. At that point, you might as well just crank out as much progress as you can rather than leave proof that your there and NOT make any progress.

you aren't understanding what i'm saying. if jason is in OE scoping out neither objective is being done so nothing is being lost unless jason has a perk on a timer in the beginning of the match also it arguable hurts jason to use a totem build since OE gives survivors more of a chance to come across their totem trying to avoid jason
Except generally all gen progress is being regressed if survivors keep stealthing every time Jason enters OE. The amount of crouchwalking im seeing the whole match is crazy.

i mean survivors aren't really using any resources either it's a stalemate arguably in the survivors favor if the killer has a perk that has a timer in the beginning
I feel like maybe I was unclear... Jason doesnt ACTUALLY have to run corrupt for this effect. Theres no timer to wait out. You just have a case of survivors not touching gens for a large part of the match. This is especially troubling when the only progress theyre making is 1 guy trying to cleanse a totem, since it becomes assured thats the guy gonna get chased. If you have several gens being progressed like with any other killer, it wouldn't feel like Jason is pressuring every survivor at the same time and the guy at the hex totem would have a better chance of cleansing it.
-
@100PercentBPMain said:
he seems like a reactive killer who does nothing unless the survivors do something. in a solo q setting that's a recipe for a game of chicken.
if 4 survivors decided to just play for the server close Jason will still never leave their gens/totems
Thats the biggest difference im seeing with other killers. Often times it feels like Jason has built in corrupt since no one wants to touch a gen at the beginning of the match when survivors are generally at their strongest and would normally get the most gen progress. You dont see survivors crouching away from a gen everytime Wraith goes Bing bong and stealths around. The complete lack of pressure gives Jason all the time in the world to do anything.

The thing with Jason is he can just get right back into chase after checking his totems. I've played so many Jason's with ruin and I've seen how oppressive he is.
He has to drop chase to keep checking them though in that instance. He'd essentially just be doing the same thing a Wraith can do on most maps, go stealth and check each totem individually. The only cases id say he has the advantage over Wraith in that is totems on different floors.

General inventory is a good thing, as it would free up a lot of server space, and I'm all for it
But the reason they can't do it could be because they need to process petabytes of data
Another, more dangerous thing is SAVE DATA, which means that if something goes wrong, players could lose progress
Older players might remember the days when DBD had a local save file that would reset every time you agreed to the terms of service
We can ask Mandy to check with the development team to see if this is safe to do so as not to break everything
If this is possible, it would be an amazing QoL
Considering they managed to consolidate different accounts into a single account when cross progression became a thing, I think they can manage this.

The only conclusion anyone should draw from that image is that the matchmaking system made a mistake. There are five gens remaining and all but one player is on death hook, you are clearly more skilled than these survivor but that doesn't make any of them bad necessarily.
You could just have easily ignored the sable all match. I've had plenty of killers ignore me after a single good chase. I'm not saying you did but hook states like that can be achieved in multiple ways.
Nah, in this case the sable basically wasn't doing anything. I think she had like 14k BPs on the score sheet at the end after they all escaped, which tells me that she wasnt going for saves or anything. Im not gonna judge people too harshly about how they do in chase, ESPECIALLY against a new killer, but being unproductive outside of chase is rough.

Yeah, thats the issue. Aside from Springtrap, every Killer released for quite some time has been a powercrept version of previous Killers. E.g. Dracula is an example, I have no problem with Dracula, but it cannot be denied that he has more going on than other Killers.
I also dont understand some design choices. E.g. why Jason lets the Survivors scream despite them using Perks to avoid screaming or when they are in Lockers. Sure, crouching as counterplay exists, but if I look at Doctor for example, who has a large chunk of his power resolve around screaming, he might get 0 information from Survivors just being in Lockers on his static blast, which also has a lengthy cooldown.
Or Huntress, who is a fine Killer, but is 4,4 m/s and has to spend time reloading, while Jason is 4,6 (only 4,4 on paper) and can reload without spending much time and therefore without losing much distance. (Let alone that Huntress has one of the worst map mobilities while Jason has one of the best)
A quick note regarding the Jason screaming... that might actually be for the SURVIVORS benefit. Jason already gets killer instinct. If you didnt scream, he'd still know your location. The only thing that would change is you wouldn't KNOW he knows your location since there's no way to know you have killer instinct otherwise.

Your hex also may not doing anything entire trial, that's not an argument
Boons have radius, hexes aren't
Hexes have litteraly strong effects:
Block palletes / windows
Oneshots / Memento / Blind / Pentimento (which is very bad for soloQ)
Thats why they're limited, you know? Survivors have to run in boon radius to get effect, which may be lost because killer can deactivate boon without any perks
Spawning hexes in front of survivors face its a problem with bugged spawns and horrible map design, its not about limiting other side, there should be base protection for totems from start of the trial, no doubt
I DO feel like it could be a way to balance boons. Old CoH was meta as hell for a reason, cuz it was really strong. I feel like instead of nerfing the healing value it gave, they could've instead given it a limit. Most boons now days are made weak cuz they can be reapplied infinitely, which makes them not worth using alot of the time. I feel like having a strong boon with a limit would be the better solution for both sides really. Killers would feel like kicking the boon actually matters while survivors would get a stronger effect other than the ability to replace the boon for the 7th time.

Then I thank you for being reasonable and understanding my position. However, there are tons of people that DO think the average survivor is bad. Someone saying exactly that is literally the only reason I bothered responding to this thread.
The main reason solo queue is often a frustrating experience is that the average player is just not very good and often has terrible game sense, or they are doing side quests for achievements that don’t do anything to help your team win.
I have nothing to go on about what they actually think except what they say and it's exactly what they said. I can easily find multiple content creators saying exactly the same as well, perhaps they don't actually believe it and are only saying it for their audience but that audience absolutely believes it.
A quick example from a game im CURRENTLY in, lol.
Who do you think id say is the "bad" survivor? Mind you, if I wasn't planning on 2 hooking cuz they brought me cakes they'd be screwed, but... when I dont see you all game, your teammates have to carry those hooks. These 4 all escaped btw...

I think alot of the hiccups people have is the personal play vs team play thought pattern. Often times people dont wanna take chase, even if it would help the team. They try to avoid getting hooked themselves as much as possible... which results in their teammates having to do things like go for an unhook while on death-hook.
As a killer main, when I DO play survivor... im not very good in chase which is the micro gameplay, but I generally am using the macro gameplay thought patterns I develop as a killer to do things like acknowledge when I need to go for an unhook or what gen I should prioritize. I feel like if we're talking about a "bad" survivor or teammate, its someone who hasn't developed the macro gameplay which often times is pretty universal no matter the killer.
Alot of the complaints im reading even in this thread is about people who dont notice patterns, or lack situational awareness. Insisting to heal under hook when the killer has made a habit of returning to hook, or failing to pay attention to the hud falls in with that.
Heck, quick personal note I JUST saw from a team I was planning on 2 hooking... 1 survivor is on hook while all 3 teammates is on the same gen on the opposite side of the map. I would say all 3 of them were bad survivors since they didnt pay attention to the hook timer to know they should probably send someone to get the unhook. I purposely didnt interfere with the unhook and they STILL were too late.

I literally went out of my way to say I don't want that. My only ask is that people stop painting all survivors with the same brush because of certain players.
I get a single survivor like that in the same lobby as me and I get labeled bad because of it. Why is it so hard to understand that I just want that to stop and for this community to stop being ok with putting down survivors. I don't care if you call those specific survivors bad but "the average survivor is bad" isn't true.
I dont think ppl DO think all survivors are bad. A large issue is 1 bad survivor can cause the whole team to lose. This is why its much easier for content creators to make KILLER winstreaks rather than to try to do the same as survivor. 1 crappy teammate can RUIN you.
