On principle I don't think people should be able to get a competitive advantage from purchasing a £15 skin over people who don't necessarily have the disposable income to chuck £15 on a skin in a paid-for game especially during a time where everyone is being squeezed for money from all angles but maybe that's too radical of a thought for the dbd forums

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/3U388XYH7WJV/image.png

It IS abit of selective outrage though. Its pretty common knowledge that different SURVIVORS are also different volume levels. Obviously ppl arnt using Ace for his perks, but I wouldn't go as far as to accuse everyone who plays him of being sweaty and "abusing" how quiet he is. While sure you probably have some people who pick their survivors and cosmetics to squeeze every advantage they can, alot of ppl are just using what they think is cool.

  • Heard its basically gonna be centered around Pamela though and not Jason.

And this is why suddenly a lot of people use the Were-Elk when it is bugged again, which happened in the past. Because they want to see the unique Mori. Yep.

Thats the reason im rocking Trapper's naughty bear skin. The normal mori was boring... plus I got a giggle from the voicelines.

I feel like youre misunderstanding the situation... its not like Jason has a global visual and audio queue to show when he enters his power. Killer instinct doesnt automaticaly start a chase, and using your power just lets survivors reset to a check spot where they can loop the infinite window from again. This isn't a Jason specific issue, if I had been playing huntress or trapper or any other conventional killer I would have been eating ######### at the window all the same. Killers cant make line of sight with survivors at these tiles so chase never starts, the window doesnt get blocked and the survivor can infinitely vault it while being atcompletely safe distance from lunges.

Using his power DOES let him take unfavorable chases in the opposite direction. Loops like the 2nd floor window in garden of joy for example are strong only 1 way. If you teleport TO the window and chase them DOWN stairs instead, you get the hit.

As for Trapper... place a trap.

i buy what looks cool, i dont care about anything else lol

Ppl were claiming everyone using the werebeast huntress skin before got it for P2W purposes, but... that thing had a unique mori. Of COURSE its gonna be popular AF.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

BHVR releasing another P2W skin, which will then be bought by sweaty people just to fix the Bug in a few weeks after it sold enough. Classic.

At this point you have to assume it is intentional.

I'd like to think there's ppl who also just buy skins because they look cool. Im personally rocking the ironmaiden dredge skin for example even though its arguably Pay to lose.

  • @Hunk1559 said:

I'm pretty sure this must have been adressed in posts way before my time playing this game, but this map seems to spawn window setups or even single windows with strange angles and line of sight blockers that would just never block because survivors are able to walk in certain positions that will never start a chase so the killer can never get a hit in. It feels awful to play that map as Jason in this case. You're just constantly forced to switch targets or teleport for haste again because you never catch up behind the obnoxiously long walls and forever windows.

Wouldn't you just teleport TO that window and chase survivors away from it? Jason is kinda great at dealing with otherwise strong windows by vaulting it in the opposite direction other killers can.

I saw your post,I mean it is not uncounterable brokenly strong but a decent wraith can get a free hit majority of the time,I don't understand how people think this is fair and balanced

Probably because its just going onto the pile of perks and addons that help get "free hits" in chase you wouldn't have gotten if you left the slot empty. Its just adding variety to builds. Things like Coup or Spirit fury are similar.

  • @Xray said:

BHVR never keeps new players because of thier god awful tutorial, they will make one for the Black Banquet but not update the tutorial for the regular game. All new survivor players are thrown to the wolves and BHVR dont care because of the skins they will buy before quitting.

This reminds me of that clip of Dojacat closing the game after losing the tutorial match. No perks or player interactions yet to soil the mood, so yeah... I think the tutorials could use some work.

  • @BloodBehemoth said:

I'll make you a deal. I'd agree to giving survivors an Abandon option if they are in the dying state for more than 60 seconds while 1 other survivor remains alive and on their feet, if killers get to Abandon the moment the EGC begins and no survivor is hooked or dying.

You can even replace the killer with a generic bare-bones chase + M1 bot. It's the end of the match, who's gonna care? The bully squads that want to force someone to watch them leave? Who gives a **** what they think anyway?

    I support this idea

Yeah people like to whine about things when they don't know what they are talking about or not bothering to even test it themselves. The amount of times I have told someone on this forum to go test it in the custom match if you don't believe me but they don't even bother and keep claiming the same thing that they are wrong in.

Just imagine for a moment if there was a survivor equivalent. A medkit addon that has a weird unintended interaction where if you stand in the corner and dont participate in the game for like 5 minutes, you get healed 1 health state... while also losing the ability to get healed again. It would dethrone self care for the perk teammates hate to see.

  • @Wezqu said:

Yeah was thinking there was limitation but it was a good change to make it only work on gens that are not regressing.

As an avid surge enjoyer, I mostly see it as a buff, lol. I kept accidentally wasting my regression events just walking past gens. I just think it was funny the foaming at the mouth reaction ppl had where a killer could regress a gen 40% by standing next to it for like 2 minutes. Thats a TERRIBLE time exchange that only looks good if you can edit out the time in-between hits before showing your audience.

  • @Wezqu said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4099125#Comment_4099125

Well would make sense it to not work on regressing gens as it could be quite easily abused as you could just keep hitting the same gen by going near it.

Alot of videos actually made it seem WAY worse than it was by the power of editing. You could hit it 1 time per use of OE. If you wanted to dump 8 uses, you going in and out of OE over and over with its cooldown each time.

  • @Wezqu said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4099115#Comment_4099115

Yeah thats why I said I was comparing old images of the perk because I wanted to see how it was writen in the game itself. That wiki is good but the problem with it is always the fact that they rewrite the perk descriptions how they are in the code. Still if you want to know how they are writen in the game you have to check that in the game itself or if you want to see the old descriptions I found easiest to use google image search as there is a lot of pictures taken of perk descriptions so can see the old descriptions and even in the old ingame one it stated that it activated "when survivor enters the dying state" no killer interaction required. I will make a report about it after I get to test out this for my own curiosity and get some footage and logs for it.

I use that wiki myself but have to admit that its keepers should include the ingame descriptions too because sometimes they write the perk to include something that is in it by accident or bug like its meant to be there. Thats why I do prefer the ingame descriptions as they are usually what devs meant it to do but after the rewrites of the descriptions there has been few errors like this.

Alot of times you cant tell if something is suppose to happen or its a bug. When Jason's deputy badge was hitting regressing gens... i legit wasn't sure since surge, eruption and pain res can ALSO hit regressing gens. Doesn't help that every update will cause changes to completely unrelated things than what the patchnotes claimed changed.

People forget that you can use dissolution with serpent soot and the beast soot together and force uncloak whenever a survivor vaults a pallet. Not as effective as this combo probably, because you’re required to injure someone then cloak for the effect to work. But it basically makes it impossible to win a 50/50 on a pallet if you drop it without a stun.

I haven’t seen any wraith players running turn back the clock like this yet, but it doesn’t sound terribly overpowered or anything. Does he instantly get his extended swing, or does it just uncloak him?

I always like finding neat perk combos that synergize well with specific killers as long as its not TOO broken. PWYF was really good at giving ppl a reason to play Bubba before his rework for example. Anything to get ppl to expand away from the same 4 perks that are universally useful on every killer.

Yeah checking some older pictures of the old description and seems the current description in the game itself is wrong but I will do some testing when I get my friend to have some time to see how things interact for my own curiousity and see if there is something other to report there. Need to report that description to be wrong though.

Im looking at the ingame description now and can definitely see your point. Unlike infectious fright which says "whenever a survivor is downed", eruption says ""when you down a survivor".

    The wiki makes no specifications

It actually doesnt. It requires a survivor to enter the dying state... thats it. A survivor could plot twist and activate it.

Still Eruption, except it activates from a survivor not mending

I think the point is more that Turn Back the Clock is the first instance of a perk that Wraith can trigger while cloaked, that wouldn’t uncloak him otherwise.

With a grab triggering Eruption, you’re immediately put into the carry state, which would uncloak you anyway.

The carry uncloaks wraith, not the locker check. I doubt they want to deal with invisible carry animations anymore since it just adds to making flashlight saves harder. OG Freddy was the last killer with that specific interaction and they've never done it sense.

This, the problem is the abandon system is EXTREMELY unforgiving and is designed to force players to play against opponents that they don't want to, rather than giving people an option or the needed out if the game crashes or you lose connection.

If your game crashes, we're no longer talking about what the player WANTS and the quality of the match. Theres no room for discussing options to leave if you have a power outage or something.

  • @Wezqu said:

It makes sense as tell me any other perk that Wraith can use to damage or explode a gen while he is cloaked? He can't hook survivors cloaked so that removes Pain Resonance. He can't damage survivors while cloaked so any thing that would cause gen to explode because of damage or downing is also off the table. Turn Back the Clock is the only perk in the game Wraith can use while cloaked that explodes a gen. So it would make sense that if he uses that add-on he de-cloaks after using the perks ability.

And to the op its not anyway op in my opinion as he can only use it near gens or with line of sight to one. If survivors know he has the combo they can play that against him.

    Eruption

Wraith can still pull survivors from lockers, which triggers the perk

I don't think your game crashes when your internet shuts off, you just get sent to the title screen. I'm talking about when your whole game crashes and you end up on Steam with the crash report window opening up.

Either way, the game cant tell the difference on WHY you disconnected from its servers.

A 30 second cooldown on OE is honestly pretty excessive and not necessary, Jason already gets a longer cooldown on a successful Jump Scare so tripling it would just cripple him for no reason. I think the problem is more duration more than anything else and I suspect why there's no limit on the duration is because forcing jason to come out of it would be tricky to code around. If that doesn't work then I would say after 10-20 seconds in OE perhaps Jason can become more visible to survivors in a mist form or something so they don't feel as compelled to crouch around and do nothing.

Theres no successful or unsuccessful cooldowns.

  • @zonkednb said:

I guess the point of Springtrap is to listen to PJ Heywood have the time of his life voice acting.

There are some niche addon combos that allow Springtrap to do things Jason can't and Springtrap can hit over more loops due to his arc.

That doesn't mean that Jason isn't just doing the same thing but better in 95% of cases though.

Theres also the 20 seconds of undetectable. Alot of times ppl will be STARING at a door panel expecting the killer to come from there, so if you go to the next door over and walk over... you'll surprise them.

  • Correct, same spots that xeno's tunnels and Animatronic's doors spawn. Its not that she'd be able to start chases quickly, but rather that she'd be able to spam all the OTHER TVs before you can turn off the one you're at and give you a stack of condemned for each one. Plenty of killer powers allow them to cross the map quickly, but its specifically the fact that you have to run upstairs to grab the tape before everyone in the area has up to 6 condemned stacks out of 7. The 30 second window is to help protect against the condemned playstyle, not because they wanted to give you a head start against an M1 killer.

    Ooh go singularity.

I don't see nearly enough singularities, strong killer when played well. Requires good planning and has really interesting mechanics. Definitely one of the more imaginitive killers added in the last few years.

Play chucky if you must the tiny little dash slop gremlin. But please please don't do plague. She's amazingly unfun to play against whilst also not being fun to play either. Somehow her basekit counter (cleansing) is actively a bad idea against her so most survs won't bother to cleanse againstbyou and you don't get to yse your main mechanic much.

You'd be surprised about Plague. Toss on something like PWYF and it becomes very dangerous to stay injured. On most games I play as her, ppl start cleansing.

  • @Cornil said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4098712#Comment_4098712

But that is the entire argument for Onryo's cooldown at the start of the match. Her ability (condemned via teleporting in TVs) is too powerful to be active so early, so survivors get the cooldown as a time to get a little bit of generator progress. Jason's mobility and gen patrol is too powerful to be active so early, there needs to be a little bit of buffer time for survivors to set up, spread out, and get a little bit of generator progress.

Its not for gen progress, its so they can physically reach the TVs before they can be spammed several times. If they dont turn the TV off, Onryio can rapidly just fill their condemned meters.

  • @Cornil said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4098691#Comment_4098691

There's no counter at the start of the match for Onryo though, that's my point. All TVs are off for 30 seconds, you don't need to grab a tape, in fact you cannot grab a tape from a TV that is off. I suspect the only reason she has that 30 second cooldown is so that survivors can start on some gens, otherwise she'd be able to start snowballing the game immediately if she had something like say the 10 seconds Dredge has. This is the exact same reason I think Jason should have at least a 10 second, if not a 15 or 20 second cooldown at match start. The reason that Springtrap doesn't have this restriction, for example, is that his doors are slow, fixed spawns near generators that require him to either bring Lethal Pursuer or go to 3 or 4 different doors guessing someone might be there each time. There's a hiding counterplay with him that can waste a lot of the killer's time, allowing survivors to spread out and start working on gens on opposite sides of the map. Not to mention if the Springtrap player isn't using the doors themself, the survivors could use them to get around the map.

With Jason he can just click one button, go into his ability, zoom around at 8m/s between every generator on the entire half of the map survivors spawned on until he sees 1% of a generator done, teleport to a nearby window/pallet, and anyone within 16m who didn't crouch at least 3 seconds ago screams and is revealed with killer instinct. He has an incredible advantage at match start that no other killer gets without bringing what are usually iridescent rarity addons.

The important point for Onryio here is the condemned, not the actual mobility. They didnt want her to start stacking bunch of condemned immediately before survivors can reach the TVs. You can argue Jason is good at patrolling gens... but thats not an argument for initial cooldown. What your saying isn't something specifically for the start of the match, but just that OE in general is strong. You'd have the exact same argument that its strong for the rest of the match, a cooldown at the beginning isn't touching that.

  • @Abbzy said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4098673#Comment_4098673

Fact is he cant get across the whole map like dreadge or onryo but the cooldown being so low (its what 4 seconds it should be bit longer), the other parts I mentioned are reasoneable i would say.

Im not commenting on everything else, just specifically the initial cooldown. Those cooldowns are present when there's an actual reason for it and missing when there's no reason for it. They didnt want Onryio to stack 4 stacks of condemned before survivors could get to a TV. Jason is just using a decent mobility tool to cross the map, similar to bat form Dracula. I honestly think if they didnt put an initial cooldown at all, no one would be mentioning it. The only reason ppl are saying thats something to crank up is because the 3 second cooldown existing reminded them that was a thing and not because using the power at that stage of the game is anymore impactful than using it at any other point.

  • @Cornil said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4098673#Comment_4098673

Onryo can't even be interacted with at the start of the trial. Her cooldown doesn't make sense in that regard, as its for a whole 30 seconds, which is much longer than the time it takes for most killers to start their first chase, potentially even down a survivor. And for Dredge it wouldn't break the game if he didn't have to wait 10 seconds considering most people agree his counterplay is kind of unnecessary with the game's current balance of killers. The only reason Jason should get a longer match-start cooldown is because he has a ranged ability where getting into an instant chase as soon as the game starts is often a guaranteed down, which getting a hook that early increases the chance of the killer winning by like 10 fold. The fact he can immediately give chase right as the game begins makes him the easiest killer to snowball with right off the bat.

Onryio and Dredge both have those cooldowns so survivors can have a chance to do the appropriate counters they're SUPPOSE to do with those powers. Theres specific interactions... This isnt even me guessing, this was a question I asked the devs way back when. They didnt want Dredge popping out of a locker on someone who spawned in shack 2 seconds after the match started.

This isnt the case with Jason. Theres no threat of him being onto of a survivor THAT fast and theres no special interaction survivors need to do ahead of time. You can argue the ability is OP or stronger than Dredge, but theres no reason for specifically a longer cooldown at the beginning of trial other than just cuz you felt like a nerf should go somewhere.

  • @Abbzy said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4098602#Comment_4098602

Omnipesent is the part thats bit overtuned on him then his spear or post jump scare speed buff.

It has super low cooldown at the start of the trial, its cooldown is very small like it should be 15 seconds minimaly or 16.

He can stay in it as long as he wants which sometimes is bit slowing game in a way that nothing gets done and things dont move so better option is either a) limit time he can stay in omnipresent like 25 seconds or something like that or b) that he can stay in it as he wants but after like 25 seconds he looses his tracking ability and must rely only on sounds and his intuition.

This would make him better killer to face like i dont have problem with spear because I know its lot loop dependent and if he misses it he must go out of his way and reload but what makes him unfun for me is how fast he gains his power, jason is killer that longer you loop him the weaker he gets (looses his haste and wastes time by reloading spears) but omnipresent having so few limitations is kinda most annoying part about him tbh and using it in chase isnt that great because if survivor presses crouch button the he evades him compleatly.

I dont really see the reason people want the long initial cooldown at the start of trial. Like I said before, there's actual reasons for it on Onryo and Dredge to have a window at the start of the trial. Jason on the other hand is basically in the same boat as Dracula at the trial beginning. Theres no real reason other than to give a random nerf.

Yeah, I saw he sent that aftwards. Kinda wish they did the comparison on the same map. Im trying to watch it on my phone and going from day time earie of crows to a night time map, I couldn't even see the survivor at first, let alone pay attention to the distance.

I feel like he should, he can hear generators. Its just noises specific to survivors he can't hear, like grunts or breathing. Its not specified on the wiki I don't think, so I'd test it to be sure honestly. But it'd make sense that he can hear the cleansing, chest opening, healing, etc if he's close enough, since they're kind of environmental sounds and not survivor specific. If they got rid of the whole "red mist being visible when standing still," and the tradeoff was him being able to hear some of these noises, I think it'd be a lot fairer than the current 16 meter extremely noticeable red mist that gives away your exact location for free.

I feel like MAYBE a good middleground would just be like him have the same tracking tools Spirit and bat form Dracula have. He'd still have SOME way of using his OE mid chase, would be able to see scratch marks further than footprints now... but wouldn't be able to see them through walls and separate floors.

  • @Abyast1 said:

"it has a smaller environment collision and a large player collision"- I'd very much like to see this video, because I've been seeing shots on my end that were almost certainly hits/looked like hits that missed that matched my thoughts on player+environment collision being the same. Not saying your wrong, I'd just like to see this because Itd help me perception on jasons ranged attack a lot.

If you could like it in your response id be greatful :)

Im not even sure how you COULD test that since survivor models dont match their hitboxes.

  • @Cornil said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4098543#Comment_4098543

Its actually a misconception that he's able to see players on totems specifically. Technically he's allowed to see everyone who has not been crouched for more than 2 seconds with a red mist. It happens that performing any action (cleansing, healing, repairing, etc.) counts as standing and not crouching, even if the playermodel is crouching. Totem Jason would still exist even if they removed his ability to see red mist on standing survivors outright, as he could always pass closer by the totem and hear the survivor cleansing it. Currently its just extra overkill since he can see red mist over the totem from a maximum of 16 meters away while he zooms past it at 8 meters per second lol

CAN he hear the totem? I know alot of audio is turned off when hes in OE mode such as grunts of pain.

Nor would it be if that's what I was doing. It's based on the mechanics. High pickrate is just a symptom of a new killer and also an easy win button of which jason is both.

Sorry then, it just came across like that since you said "im getting sick of games against Jason, its running at a solid 30-50% of my game sessions". It sounds very similar to "i want ppl to pick something else".

  • @Cornil said:

Statistically yes, his recovery speed and time is slower and longer than Huntress. The reason he feels faster is because he’s a good 5 or 10 percent faster moving while he’s holding the spear about to throw it, and like you mentioned it stuns survivors for almost a whole second when they get hit by a spear. Huntress hatchets allow instant movement.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4098506#Comment_4098506

While I agree with your statement, the speed that Jason moves in omnipresent evil is essentially a slower teleport. Also in actually moving across the map, he gets 20x the amount of info a Dredge would from checking 3 lockers, which he’s forced to exit the third locker. Overall Jason either needs a slower “teleport,” or he needs the info he gets while in it greatly reduced. Currently he has both and it makes Dracula’s bat form look like child’s play (it moves at 6.5 m/s compared to Jason’s 8 m/s and he’s also both audible and visible during it, and cannot see survivors other than scratch marks) and Dredge’s teleport look like a joke.

The entire reason Dredge and Onryio have an initial cooldown is because there is special counterplay the survivors are expected to do. Survivors need time to lock lockers and get to TVs to get the tape. If there WAS no initial cooldown for those two, there would be no time to do those things and the killer would be on them 2 seconds after they gain control of their character.

These issues arnt present with Jason since like Dracula, there's no special interactions survivors are expected to do and the killer is expected to cross the map. Dracula bat form might be abit slower than OE, but with double the teleport range... id say he can cross the map about the same speed.

That's the main thing. I don't want to see him absolutely gutted. That would be a huge disservice to such an iconic killer. I just want him not not be oppressive and a slog to play against. I'm getting heartily sick of games against jasons, it's running at a solid 30-50% on my current game sessions. And so many of them are running full hex builds and/or proxy camping hooks to hard tunnel.

I dont think nerfing something based off its pick rate is a good idea.

  • I feel like its fair to point out that Jason's teleport isn't similar to Dredge's. Dredge has a longer teleport cooldown at the beginning of the game since he ACTUALLY can teleport across the map. What we call Jason teleporting alot of the times is just him entering his stealth form and moving quickly. Hes more similar to Dracula in that sense who also doesnt have to wait to enter bat form to move across the map.

  • You do you, but personally I dont wanna try babysitting slugs. It's one thing to slug if I know where the next chase is, but if im about to go patrol the gens LOOKING for another chase... I go ahead and hook.

At launch it was 150, then buffed to 200, then nerfed to 50, it was NEVER 100%.

I feel like your abit confused. It was never 150 or 200% haste. The added haste to the base 100% MADE you run at 150% and 200%

the reason for that is gen slow down perks give killers more mistakes with out slow down you cant make many mistakes while with it gives you more breathing room this game is an attack and defend game the survivors attack while the killer defends. time is the real resourse and why exostion perks are so busted because it can double to tripple the chase time same reason pallet dencity was not a quality of life change it was a buff to survivors and a nerf to killer sense pallets buy time for the survivors while wasting the killers time.

Its argueable... Sure you could bring a slowdown perk to extend the match, but you could also end the chase faster with something like Coup de grace or shorten the time you spend looking for your next chase with a tracking perk. Gen slowdown isn't the only way to win the war on time.

Tbagging is the ENTIRE point of the conversation. You just added more parts to it for no other reason.

All I said was Tbagging ALONE is not an issue. Then you came in with all these other problems, putting words into my mouth and making excessive assumptions and kept arguing from that. I never said harrassment via sending messages, doxxic, etc is okay. All I said was Tbagging isn't a problem, and you went off on this tangent as if I said all forms of toxicity is okay.

You said people were having mental breaks over teabagging, I said no... thats just a very small part of the stress. Its disingenuous to try to wrap up everything as just people that cant handle tbagging.

We don't really need to change the numbers. They're just targets, after all.

A completely unreasonable target considering even when hitting an all time high playercount were still nowhere near on track. If I tell you you can get a bonus by delivering a pizza in 30 seconds, it would be REASONABLE to assume autocorrect kicked in.

Since we have this opportunity, we can always reward them in different ways. It’s disappointing, but teaching them that there are some things they just can’t do is more important.
