The invitations are out of the way and sometimes it takes a while to even stumble across them, especially as a Survivor if you start near a gen, you don't want to run around the map looking for one. And sometimes you spawn right next to one.
From a Killer perspective (with some survivor gameplay, but I get more cakes on Killer since I don't share the event pool with Items):
The Pallets are roster dependent and outside of long loops with no LoS blockers (EG: Haddonfield hedges)/safe-loops are somewhat easily baited (I say this as a Pig player).
For the Vault block I expected it to at first to kinda work like Bamboozle, where you do a Vault and it blocks the vault, but it's kinda clunky (especially on controller), given that you need to aim at the vault for the prompt to appear. It's also not clear that you can vault your blocked vault, just like Bamboozle. The Vaults where it's beneficial to do so (outside of against a Killer like Legion), are small.
The Pallet Break for Killer is slow, almost the same as if you kicked it normally, though it does let you start moving around the loop early if possible.
The instadown feels cheap, but I haven't used it much.
The pallet break power is really nice for denying a vault. If you chase a survivor around a loop, you can trigger the ranged break power right b4 they vault the power. Since they can't vault during the short break animation... it tends to result in a hit.
-
As a killer main... I'm having a blast. Been playing Myers games tonight and doing the pallet break RIGHT before a survivor tries to vault it, then getting a T3 stab is pretty fun. The pallet is unvaultable during the animation, resulting on like a 1 second panic.
As for the survivor temp pallet power... just counter it with the killer enduring power. Don't respect the pallet.
-
So... Is Artist not even gonna get a mention? Lol
-
Just wanted ya to know... I JUST bought Wesker along with a bunch of other licensed killers. Figured I'd take advantage of the sale going on right now... Your post incentivized me to hold off on PLAYING him for now. Figured after 4 Weskers, whoever I'm facing could appreciate facing a Myers or Bubba. Tried playing a few rounds of Pig but ppl kept trying to be my friend rather than run...
-
I rarely touch survivor so can't really say anything there. From a killer POV though, it's been pretty normal. I've only had 1 group that went out of their way to annoy the he'll out of me. Decided to try to get decent as Nurse, which many ppl will know generally entails getting stomped ALOT early on. Kinda figured I got a group who last sec swapped to 4 beamers to bully my baby nurse self and not give 2 ######### about gens. Other than THAT though... been pretty fun.
-
His charm has a permanent spot on my loadouts. He was a good guy. He was basically the model of what EVERY TTV should strive for imo. The world is a little darker now that he's gone.
-
I have fun sneaking up on ppl with Myers. He's a simple killer to play, but closing the distance using whatever LOS blockers I can, then BAM... Even better if it's a TTV and I get to see their reactions in their VOD after the game.
-
She's actually been nerfed afew times. What exactly would you want to see nerfed anyway, or is it just her whole power you just dont like the idea behind?
-
@SunsetSherbet said:
People convinced others that she requires you to spend 5000 hours with monks in Tibet before you can even get a killer with her, thus her strength is fine. Though in honesty I personally think she's easier than several killers released over the past two years.
In true honesty it's that there isn't much way to nerf her to the point she's not good anymore (generally the intent of DBD nerfs) without making her the worst killer in the game by a large margin. What are you going to nerf about her even? Also why must it always be nerfs? Why not BUFF things to her strength? And there isn't a huge outcry to have her nerfed because a bad nurse is a joke, and not enough people actually face the good nurses to care. Their data also shows she has a horrible kill rate so if anything, she needs a buff going by the devs logic.
You mean Ive been wasting my time with these monks and their crappy wifi? FFFFUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!

It's a cosmetic in a game...there are many others that we can enjoy! It really is not a big deal. I promise this is the last thing I will say about it! lol
ARE there many others? Have you SEEN Bubba's cosmetic options...was pretty bare.

What an overreaction. And let's be clear about something. As long as killers have unfair add-ons they can't receive buffs because it skews the stats. Pinky finger nerf is needed because it skews Clowns stats to the point where he looks balanced. Michael has the same problem. Fixing Pinky finger paves the way to future buffs.
What addon of Mikey's is unfair? His stronger addon effects tend to all have some sort of balancing act to them in which you give up X to get Y.

Uh, a lot of the unintended "techs" that were never used because the add-ons required were awful have been removed, I guess that's a "nerf" for her if you really want one?
I probably won't play the PTB so all I can comment on is wording but it doesn't seem like she got any "nerfs", and the Bugfixes were actually more "buffs"
Just waiting for this whole list to just be a technicality when what they REALLY changed was removing nurse's ability to blink entirely.
-Fixed Nurse being unable to blink through certain hills...now she cant blink AROUND those hills either, lol

Surprised they havent at LEAST addressed how perks can effect things like a syringe. For some reason, the heal time for a syringe gets shortened if used with perks that speed up heal time. Really feel like this shouldnt be a thing...

It removes a tool used for racist behavior.
If you had neighbors that hated you and they kept vandalizing your car overnight by throwing eggs out of the basket of eggs you keep on your front lawn, removing the basket of eggs you keep on your front lawn probably wouldn't stop it all together, but it would remove a method they use to do it. That's the point.
Limiting ways people can cause harm to others is important as well.
To use your example here...
Your racist neighbor throws eggs at you, so you town bans the ownership of eggs from everyone to stop racist activities. Your racist neighbor doesnt stop harrassing you, they just move on to using paintballs next, then toilet paper if THAT gets banned.
Banning a cosmetic does nothing to stop the harrassment since the cosmetics werent needed to harrass anyone to begin with. This does nothing
-
Yeah... I dont see this being effective at all. Someone wanting to be abusive in chat will be abusive in chat, no matter what cosmetics are available for them to wear while doing it. The ONLY thing I can see someone would have a legit problem with with these masks themselves is the acquisition method behind them. If the Bubba is trying to get a specific mask and camps the hell out of the Jake in the game to get it... that sucks. As far as the USAGE of the masks afterwards though, I see no problem. Just ban the people thats mouthing off abusive chat no matter WHAT cosmetic they happen to wear.

Perks were never visible using the tool (source: I know the person who made it)
They were (source: my own eyes. I tried some KYFs matches to find out EXACTLY how it worked)
Granted, they weren't revealed until DURING the mission. BBQ would only show up after the first hook for example.
Here was an example pic that was available online

I'm mostly solo, too :)
I'll sometimes stay if I get camped or tunneled out and the game was interesting or gets interesting to watch it play out, but it's never to abuse or criticize the player's game. If I'm in the endgame chat, the most people will get out of me is 'gg' or 'gg lol'. If I notice something that could help a player's current build (on either side), I may say so, which sometimes starts a constructive discussion.
If someone camps/tunnels me or, as I recently found out, last item switches, it all falls within intended design, so I'll treat it as such. For real, an inability to do so seems to point towards an inflated sense of entitlement/inability to accept reality in an unbiased manner.
Lately, in game/on forums/reddit/etc, most people seem to be adopting better mindsets and just enjoying the matches for what they are, regardless of the outcome - There's no real stakes, so whatever :)
People that bash other people or are abusive/toxic in chat/forums/etc most likely have way bigger issues to work on with their gameplay and themselves, but are using these outlets/outbursts to deflect from the real issue.
I read that last part and could only think of...

Good watch.
It seems very hard for some people to accept reality, leave a gg, and move on.
If only people would do that. I try to avoid giving people ######### in EGC no matter HOW they acted during the match (might make an exception for a hacker or someone who's trying to grieve teammates or something). I've had plenty of cases of getting BM in game where the killer would Puke on me with Plague for 2 minutes straight as I die on first hook or something. Maybe its because I play solo Q as survivor, but I typically just leave rather than wait around to talk trash. Those people who DC in the first 2 minutes, then wait around to unleash a rant when the game ends 10 minutes later are something else...

Yeah I mean I've done that myself as Trickster to quickly restock my knives. Or I'll quickly make sure nobody is nearby to flashlight or pallet stun. It's just amazing they instantly go to 'OMG they're avoiding DS purposely'.
Feel like some people expect bot like behavior or something. The Bubba video had a guy getting peeved that the Bubba could hit people without going full on ADHD and forget he existed, and then getting pissed at the Bubba for chainsawing his teammate who was unhooking him and not immediately put himself in a situation to eat a DS. Like...that was completely normal gameplay, what are you EXPECTING him to do?

I saw this video earlier today and honestly laughed at the Huntress one. The fact they accused him of camping basement when they were literally hovering around it, and rushing down to save. I mean, what do they think is going to happen? Of course the killer is going to stay if someone floats around a hooked survivor. I've had so many people accuse me of camping and tunneling because a survivor decided to run me around the hook then try unhook in my face. It just makes me laugh that it's never their own fault for the mistakes they make, it always seems to be the killers in those situations.
They also were talking about the Huntress not picking him up right away to wait out DS and all that when all she did was go grab some hatchets real quick. Cant pick up a DCed survivor.
-
I remember before they changed it so killer's couldnt swap characters in the lobby... I was abit paranoid about a program I saw going around that would allow players to see various things they werent suppose to see like which character it was and which perks they were using. I started doin the last second swaps so people couldnt prepare their perks specifically for the killer I was using. Maybe its just because I was looking more, but BOY did I see alot more people using calm spirit when I would pretend to be playing Doc and then swap to something else.

If you're looking for just a message to the devs, the forums is not where to go. Forums are for discussion with the DBD fanbase as a whole rather than a closed message with an individual. Feel free to fill out a ticket or write an email. This would be like wanting to talk to the mayor of your city about a perceived issue, but rather than going to city hall... you scream into a megaphone at a busy intersection and hope he hears you and comes running to answer your question.

I’ve watched that video. My favorite reaction was the match where the killer was Pig. Survivors like that have huge egos and completely ignore what the other side has to go through. 3 gens pop in a spam of 5 seconds, which gives the killer the right to play smarter and sweatier. But no survivors are allowed to do gens super fast but killers can’t tunnel. Killers that have the same double standard are just as bad.
The Bubba game where the guy is complaining about tunneling before anyone is even hooked was MY favorite. Completely normal gameplay was being RANTED over.
Sidenote, with the changes to moris, I thought people would be fine with them now and NOT ragequit like the one dude did against Myers. Looks like Myers was spreading hooks out fairly evenly, so not sure why anyone would mind being sent out of the game in style rather than the boring entity way.

reminds me of a game i had a little while ago, where i hooked someone in my basement (shack), went upstairs and immediately heard grass moving outside - found another survivor who would then loop me around shack, got them and hooked them aswell, just to come back up the stairs and seeing scratches all over, so i look around, find another guy, chase them (once again around shack), hook them too and have everyone suicide on hook.
in end chat they then "called me out" for camping...
sigh
Well yeah, you were suppose to look for survivors on the other side of the map... NOT find the ones close by, lol

Hopefully this isnt going to be a pattern for licensed content. We dont need a bunch of characters that is unavailable from parts of our playerbase based on when they started playing the game. I know I like seeing my favorite horror icons in game and it would really suck if BHVR stopped having them on the basis of wasted work time on stuff they can't use for the entire life of the game. Would also suck to see BHVR be hesitatant on spending time tweeking things for licensed characters. I know personally, I think Demogorgon is in a good spot but lets say he WASNT for arguements sake... why would they buff a character they can't sell anymore. Id hate to see a licensed killer come out that was a balanced mess, only for the license to be yanked and BHVR lose any motivation to fix them.

RCPD might be the worst, but Midwich is far from it. Just because it's indoor doesn't mean it's automatically bad.
He didnt say it was bad because it was indoors. Most people argue that its bad because it chases tend to be made up entirely of holding W down straight hallways. For the most part, the fun part of chases come down to killers trying to cut off survivor's pathing while survivors trying to predict what a killer is going to do to gain distance. Midwich doesnt really allow for that. It's hallways dont allow for any corner cutting on the killer's side or any mindgames.

But his has other advantages, like being able to shoot over almost every loop reliably and being able to shoot through windows and small cracks.
Nemesis's tentacle is treated the same hitbox wise, as in, it must be directly on the Survivor, but it isn't given the same leeway with objects.
Of course Deathslinger's gun has spots where its more useful; thats not what I said though. I said that it ALSO requires alot of accuracy. If they gave Nemesis a power that could be used on just as many spots as Deathslinger, that would be OP as ######### since he's a 115 killer and doesnt have to go through the stuff Deathslinger does, like reloading after each shot and reeling in.

Why wouldn't they?
No other hitbox is that precise, not even the actual weapon hitbox for every Killer.
Nor is the pallet hitbox that precise.
The hitbox is clearly bugged. It lingers, can be moved by strafing, but is extremely small.
Deathslinger requires some pretty good accuracy

Welcome to the forums where people discuss dead by daylight. What did you EXPECT people were gonna talk about? Cant have EVERY post be about bugs and its ok to have a POSITIVE discussion every now and then.
-
I have a habit of not even SEEING the key until someone is jumping into the hatch, but I HAVE gone out of my way to camp the crap out of someone who irks me while being complete content with not getting a 4k. I remember trying to play Huntress against old OoO and just saying F it... I basement hooked the guy and then stood at the stairs to give any of his teammates that showed up a nod. Escorted the others to the exit gates, lol.
Frankly, if someone is camping and tunneling a key user down, its very likely they arnt counting kills anymore and prefer to get the 1k over killing the 3 OTHER survivors and the key user walking free.

There was an old PS2 game that was the same way. It used some sort of microphone to tell the character to shoot, punch, get item, etc. You played the person on the security cams trying to guide the heroine through the complex.
Microphone controls need to die and never return. I still remember trying to make Hey You Pikachu work on the N64

Huh, you're right. I did not even think of that. Mario 64 was a 2nd person view!
My roommate is currently watching a Markiplier video for a horror game called The Possession Experiment that is doing a 2nd person POV. You control a person on security monitors while your POV is from whoever is watching the monitors. It's kind of odd

Kind of, but only if those camera angles were, say, Lickers or other monsters that were spying on you. Whereas '3rd person' cameras infrequently actually have 'persons' attached to them, 1st and 2nd person cameras are tied to actual 'persons' in the game world.
No, I get what your saying. You brought up seeing things from the perspective of the crows, which would resemble resident evil's camera in that it was always fixed in some random spot above you.
Sidenote, supermario 64 had a cameraman follow you around on a cloud, so TECHNICALLY I suppose THAT was 2nd person.

It's either First Person (You're seeing through the character's eyes)
Or 3rd person (You're seeing from outside the person you control. As if you were another person in the world)
A second person camera would be a viewpoint set from the perspective of another character in the game and not controllable by the player. Like if you could be one of the crows but could not control the crow.
Feel like that would just look like the camera angles for the original resident evil games.

upon seeing this clip i realise that the devs should have implemented it as his mori, maybe then i'd actually consider playing him
I typically bring out this clip anytime the argument of "which killer would win in a fight/battle royal" pops up, which is WAY more often than you'd think. I typically just link the clip and claim there would just be more pinballs.

It would make deathslinger unplayable, but there'd definitely also be some downsides
How much more of a downside can you get than unplayable?
-
@SonicOffline said:
Why would you ever want this? The last thing you need is killers with gap closers to see behind them.
Hnnf a Nurse who can see around corners would be absolutely god awful to play against.
Would definitely affect different killers differently. Feel like a 3rd person perspective would make Deathslinger pretty unplayable. Theres also the issue of the character model itself getting in the way of view. Imagine losing sight of survivors because Nemesis or Oni is so damn big and covering so much of the screen that you cant see the survivor directly infront of you.

Don't you get tired of complaining about this? Most of the licensed killers have barely anything to do with their origins. Pyramid Head doesn't draw in the ground and shoot waves, Freddy has WAY more power in his Dreamworld. Demo doesn't place portals the same way he does in the show, so on and so forth.
There is always going to be limitations with licenses. Yet, people still want them-- Shown by now much people want Candyman and Xenomorph. Two characters who would be very hard to implement faithfully. Clearly, causal audiences- This games biggest demographic, doesn't care a huge amount about complete and utter faithfulness.
^^^^^This
When I started playing as Freddy, I definitely understood that I was gonna be playing as a toned down version rather than someone who has the ability to instantly kill whoever falls asleep. The only reason film Freddy DOESNT is because he likes to have fun. You really have to lower your expectations of a character's powers and realize that for a videogame to work, they HAVE to change things to make it fit. Doesnt mean we cant still have fun.
I WASNT expecting to be able to do THIS in DBD
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5gdzR73BMYIAlthough plenty of survivors will claim that Freddy kills them without ever touching them all the time, lol
-
Are you really saying you dodge your own console while hoping that everybody with the little symbol isnt just from a different console rather than PC?

Ultimately it doesnt matter what anyone thinks since theres nothing anyone can do about it even if they disagree to it. This is like changing the brightness settings on a television when playing it on Playstation or Xbox.

Feel like alot of people commenting here are missing the obvious. He's not actually USING the fork on the charm. He has squirrels who are trying to get to the can. He's holding the can in the hand that is furthest away from the squirrel while holding it as far away as he can. The fork COULD just be in his left hand because it's the one thats empty. What about a werewolf killer or something. You fill up a gauge to transform into a fast wolf form that lasts X amount of seconds or until manually canceled and you can only pickup survivors to utilize hooks in human form. Power works almost like a mix between Oni and the Twins. Just spitballing.
