Just the other day survivor did something similar against me...they crawled to a corner where it was too far for me to carry them to any hook.

They then proceeded to message me saying I must be depressed and that I should do certain things to myself, before claiming what I did was bannable only for them to block me when I proved otherwise.

    I don't get why people do this ;-;

Honestly, I don't even understand why the hook breaks on death thing is even a thing. Feels like I'm getting punished for doing my main objective. I can understand it coming from survivors doing Sabo plays or something, but why is the game itself permanently saboing hooks?

  • Recently tried using darkness revealed and yeah... it's pretty nice. I have it on Sadako right now and being able to see auras around the map on que is awesome. I can use it upon spawning it, after hooking someone, or just when survivors are being too immersed. I also feel like ppl forget this perk exists with the amount of times I get free hits while using it. The survivor hiding in the corner probably thought I thought they were in the locker and I'm paranoid about locker plays with how much I open lockers. NOPE, the perk was just off cooldown.

Yes, they need to implement features that combat tunneling, camping, and slugging. They want a balanced game and the ability of the killer to do these things so easily (and earn a lot of BP still in doing so) creates a huge imbalance in gameplay and agency. On a side note, if you want survivors to stop complaining about these things as a strategy then I want killers to stop complaining about body-blocking, teabagging, and healing in front of them which can all be effective strategies (letting teammates get some distance, distracting killers, and using the syringe add-on for a quick heal or mindgaming.) I’ve actually had killers tunnel me for STUNNING them like it was super personal but it’s clearly part of the game and strategic rather than just plain malicious.

While I agree with alot of whacha said here, the slugging part is the outlier for me. As long as you have survivor strategies to prevent the killer from getting a survivor from the floor to a hook, slugging is going to have a role to play. This is why base-kit unbreakable was tried and scrapped.

  • The iri is able to be used for multiple moris, but typically... your right. This is kinda the case for alot of iri add-ons where their effects are pretty meh and your better off just using lower rank addons.

You have every right to leave if you want. But as it is a team game, I think it's normal to expect some people to call you out on it

Basically this. In the example given, the killer is occupied. There's no reason NOT to get the 2 unhook. If the killer was face camping and/or NOED was in play, most ppl would understand cutting your losses, but in the example given... it sounds like super easy saves.

Like I said, if killer really wants to tunnel you no perks will save you, regarding what devs should do, well, at least bring back 5 second ds and read some anti-tunneling suggestions on their own forum, im sure there are plenty of really good ideas

You just said it though, if a killer is dead set on tunneling... it's gonna happen. Buffing DS isn't gonna change that. Survivors already have tons of anti-tunnel perks. You said the devs don't do anything to prevent tunneling, which isn't true. Are MORE perks your answer?

I have noticed made for this in a lot of my games but I didn't think it had that much impact. I mean people ran that one boon that did the same thing and it barely did anything. But yeah i never thought that was the issue.

People misjudge how much even a little extra speed boost can make. 3% is 20% of the difference in speed between a survivor and a 115 killer like Myers. This means it takes 20% longer to close any distance. That's huge when it comes to being able to chain 1 loop with the next. Kinda surprised they added a 2nd effect to the perk since the speed boost alone is pretty nutty.

Haha yep. I’ve camped and tunneling out every single survivor that’s done that. They usually don’t end with more than 2-3k points.

Edit - even funnier, a lot of the times the other survivors will come nod at them on hook and let them die for not bringing a cake.

Unfortunately as a Switch player, I can't even SEE endgame chat, and my name is very limited on how long it can be. I generally don't use Tombstone piece, so they tend to build up and collect dust...

  • @Xernoton said:

TVs spawn within a certain range of generators. The Game is a bit unique because technically that range defines a sphere, which allows TVs to be placed up and downstairs from TVs as long as it is within range. So, it isn't impossible to have all TVs downstairs but it's still highly unusual.

Just gave Sadako another reason to be pissed off. First I gotta climb out of a well, now I gotta climb out of the downstairs.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

It is not normal, seems like you got horrible RNG.

I didn't know they were RNG based. Thought they were suppose to spawn next to each gen.

  • Almost forgot... Usually the indoor maps are considered not because killers do better but rather survivors do worse on gens. They can be hard to find on indoor maps like Lerys or Midwich. Which maps are good for the killer rather than bad for survivor depends on the killer. I hate Lerys when I'm playing Huntress, but LOVE it when I'm Myers.

  • Most maps that are seen as killer sided HAVE been reworked. Lerys received a full on overhaul that's probably the biggest change a map has ever seen. The Game was loaded down with pallets beyond belief with most of them being god pallets. It's only real challenge is from survivors not being able to tell where the pallets are and which have been used, but windows of opportunities is becoming pretty meta. They straight up DELETED Hawkins, lol.

  • It's kinda hard to judge anything based off this unless your trying to point out the 2 prestige 100s. If it's the BNPs your complaining about, those are about to be nerfed so... the devs are infact doing something. Their builds though look pretty normal.

You say they're a SWF, but they still used aura reading perks for teamwork. 2 bonds+alert could explain alot of good teamplay they did since they'd be able to tell where the action is going down. Feel like this truly just might be a case of "git gud".

Take it as a learning opportunity and maybe tweek your build accordingly. If you had recorded your match, I could've pointed out errors. Alot of ppl insist their own gameplay is perfect when there is infact room for improvement (often times alot of room). The sooner you learn that, the better.

And btw... STBFL is awesome on Demo...

I hope they add more maps like that. At least you can break LoS against killers like Blight and Nurse.

If these killers can't be nerfed, at least we should get maps which will make them less oppressive.

It makes it a pain for more than just those 2 though. Huntress for example can't go for any long hatchet throws, even though it's an outdoor map. Billy is gonna have a tough time using his saw, and Myers has to be right on top of anyone to stalk them.

  • @Star99er said:

maybe insta-open a chest with them and it guarentee's a rare item with add-ons? 🤔

And the rare item is... ANOTHER KEY!!! Lol

  • The map is a LOS nightmare making it a pain to use half of killer powers.

  • I agree. As someone who loves playing as him, I also know how bad it feels to just not be able to use your power for the rest of the game. If they could at least have the stalk on each survivor recharge, that'll prevent that while at the same time ensure 1 afk/oblivious teammate doesn't feed him a perma T3 if he's running the add on.

Also, I'd gladly give up the Tombstone piece for this. If THATS what's keeping him from getting a basekit buff, yeet it in the trash.

  • Play with your food Plague is great

  • Devs have implemented basekit BT, as well as given a plethora of perks to prevent being tunneled. Theres perks to heal you after an unhook, to provide an extra health state, to block aura reading and other tracking. To insinuate the devs haven't done anything is just being purposefully ignorant. What more do you EXPECT devs to do? Make a survivor immune to dmg until another survivor gets hooked?

  • @CrowVortex said:

As a console player that can't change the name without paying, i don't tend to play ball unless it benefits me or if i'm doing a specific challenge myself. If they're doing a blind challenge, then no. I might let them get a couple of stuns though if the game is going well for me.

Benefit of playing on Switch I guess. I can change my name all day.

  • Depends on the situation. If it's the end of the game and "PalletStunChallenge" is the last survivor and is gonna die... I might carry him over to a pallet so he can get it done b4 dying. I'm not gonna throw the game to help him out though

  • @Saiph said:

I turn her away too. I don't like jumpscares.

Initially you could use the trick to prevent the jumpscare completely, but the devs patched this out, which is baffling... there are better ways to spend dev time than to patch this kind of useless bugs, especially when it was the only thing to prevent people from being uncomfortable.

At least it works as a heads up. If you see her instantly face you, you know it's coming.

Well bloodlust initially was a response to infinites. It was supposed to go with them. Really, it shouldn’t be a conversation we’re having now because BHVR should have gotten rid of it like they said they would when they got rid of the last infinite (old Haddonfield).

I get it, and I agree. I'm a killer main and hate seeing ppl abuse BL on simple pallet loops instead of kicking the pallet or actually beating the survivor in a mind game. Besides that, would also be interesting to see what they do with Beast of Prey.

The very next game I had, someone brought me to Haddonfield.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3476912#Comment_3476912

For sure, but I’m more so talking about how they will zone you at a pallet that’s not close enough to make it anywhere else and just insta down you after 15 seconds.

I’ve also had killers chain bloodlust to where they can get the insta down on you within 5 seconds of chasing you. Just not a fun mechanic IMO, bloodlust is already strong enough.

I may have done the bloodlust transfer trick myself once or twice...

I definitely agree that bloodlust in general is a bandaid fix that's probably overstayed its welcome. It's annoying seeing a video where the killer will just build BL3 instead of kicking a pallet. I feel like this is more an issue with BL in general though rather than this event.

If someone has caught you in a giant dead zone to the point they can purposefully wait 15 seconds b4 hitting you, walking to deny BL isn't giving them a free hit. It's making them waste the extra time they invested if they chose to not swing sooner.

  • @Ayodam said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3476824#Comment_3476824

”Just get hit” isn’t a good counter. Because they wouldn’t normally get that hit you’ve now got to give them to avoid being insta-downed.

If they've been hugging your butt for an extended time... they would've gotten the hit. They're using EXTRA time to get more than a simple hit.

  • @ohheyitsbobcat said:

If they tunneled you out for not farming then report them. It's a bannable thing to target someone specifically for not farming.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3476809#Comment_3476809

If all the offering slots were used then you can tell who used what based on menu order. When you bring up the menu, the survivor order is also the offering order. You can also use this to narrow it down if only 3 offerings were used but it's a 50/50.

I might be using this information for evil in the future... If I'm deciding who gets hatch... I'm more likely to pick the person who gave me a BP offering over the person who sent me to a crappy map or spread my hooks out.

  • @Nebula said:

I think the insta down bloodlust mechanic is just as bad. I’ve had so many killers just zone you for 15 seconds to secure an insta down the second they get bloodlust.

Played a Skull merchant the other day on suffocation pit who didn’t leave one side of the map and would practically only insta down people using the invitation. One of the least enjoyable games I’ve ever had in 4+ years of playing the game.

Ppl have learned to counter that by just denying bloodlust. If someone is right on top of you and not swinging, start walking. They just wasted extra time and still gotta settle with a normal hit.

  • @Saalaksin said:

Destroying a pallet with an invite is on a significant cooldown and takes about the same amount of time as doing it myself.

It really just shuts down flashlights in my eyes while I'm doing it and lets me walk around it while also not turning it into a vault loop.

It's handy to be able to break them while not standing in front of them. Just chase around a pallet loop like normal, but right when a survivor goes to vault over... use the event break.

Feel like tricks like this mostly help out the weaker killers. Was kinda expecting this event to help incentize ppl to play a bigger variety of killers. Having an instadown on Pig for example is kinda nice. The pallet break on the other hand is REALLY nice for Myers.

  • @HugTechLover said:

Did you bring an offering other than terromisu? Lol

How is someone suppose to know which survivor didn't bring a terromisu though?

  • @Sonzaishinai said:

Lockers muffle your breathing so it's very unlikely that's why he found you. But there are numerous ways how he guessed right.

First and most obvious, you were next to a very loud gen aka one that clearly has been worked on. If you approuch a clearly worked on gen and there are zero scratchmarks anywhere searching a locker isn't a farfetched idea.

There are also crows on the map that are pretty obvious when you scare them. If the killer sees a crow fly off near a locker and there are no scratchmarks you don't need a degree in rocket science to figure what happened

Knight can also see through his orb which turns invisible to survivors after a distance but i assume you would have noticed the guard spawning so that's probably not it. Still worth a mention.

Remember you are facing real thinking humans that can reach conclussions of events they have not seen by thinking logically.

Reminds me of ppl who use lockers to counter my Doctor. I always use whispers on him, so if whispers is on but my static blast doesn't work... I'm checking lockers. Blows ppls minds, lol.

    Sensible compromises such as?

Also what would you consider an overpowered toy on the Killer side of things?

Tombstone piece. Myers overall could use a buff, but the Tombstone piece make everyone iffy on giving him anything. I play alot of Myers, but I hate touching this thing just cuz I know how ######### it must feel to just get deleted from the game without ever going down.

  • I still think it's BS the nerf to Freddy's add-ons under the idea that if someone runs them with certain perks, it adds up. Feel like the better response was just to limit how much stacking you can have on things. Set a limit to how much of a percentage slowdowns/boosts can be so you don't have to nerf everything to insure the stacked values aren't busted.

Yeah its not too common to see a red background like that anymore, and yeah still the same ol' bitchin and moaning.

The Event I think are mainly just the extremists complaining that the other side has something else they can do that can be a mild inconvenience. For me its the server issues I have a problem with, but its not DbD unless theres something wrong eh?

You'd think ppl would appreciate it since it feels like the weaker killers are the ones that are benefitting most from the event powers. Wouldn't that bring more diversity to what ppl use?

  • I use to play him b4 his change. PWYF on him was AMAZING. I tried his Iri add on last night and yeah, I know whacha mean. Felt like that scene from Austin Powers where he's driving a steamroller and SLOWLY moving toward a worker. Tossed on the double speed add-ons and now I feel like a Freight train.

Cross-progression was in the works but BHVR said they cannot do it yet because some things are out of their control.

I assume it may be something to do with Microsoft and Sony since they are really stingy when it comes cross-platform stuff.

But I understand how you feel since my Demogorgan is on PS4 and I moved to PC leaving them behind... which still pains me.

Kinda wish I could at least say GG in the endgame chat. Nintendo is kinda overprotective and allows no chat options on the switch. Just steamrolled a team who must be scratching their heads at my P1 Bubba with a half-assed build. They actually were pretty good, but alas... I'm not even allowed to SEE chat. I keep wiffing hits because I'm still rusty and use to mouse and keyboard, but Bubba's chainsaw is NASTY now.

It was the Green Glyph Archive Challenge. Because I kind of dominated in the match, it gave me plenty of time to make sure I found every single one of them on the map (and since most have the challenge done already, no competition against survivors to gather them).

I don't recall the exact numbers but that last one was worth like...16,000 BP (so approx 34,000 BP added to all my other categories (except Sacrifice) maxed out.

It's OK, you don't need to come up with a convoluted story Mr. Hackerman. Just don't get caught putting in your cheat codes.

  • Only way ppl will be ok with it is if not a single penny goes to the Pedo that made it. If they can get the rights to the character without paying that dude anything, great. Unfortunately though I don't think this will be a repeat of Ghostface who they only had to get licensing agreements from the ppl who made the mask instead of the film franchise.

Once the event is over, a decent chunk of the experienced players will leave for a bit to play other games until the mid-chapter/PTB.

You have to think realistically, people have no reason to play when +535% BP isnt on the table after the Anniversary, especially when everyone knows that people will just hoard the event offerings.

I don't understand the event offering hoarding. Realistically, everyone should be DROWNING in them... Just... use them...
