I swear self-care is super strong. I run it every game in my survivor matches. *tries to suppress laughter*

It's especially busted when paired with no mither *snickers evily*

  • I think it's funny how they made sure to mention hooking a survivor who is holding a tape destroys the tape and doesn't do anything else. Any tape being held would've been destroyed when said survivor got hit, so how would you ever hook a survivor with a tape to begin with, lol? Are they getting rdy for the Nick Cage perk where you can down yourself? Are they putting this in for the case where someone in deep wounds grabs a tape and fails to mend? #########, lol

  • @MikaelaWantsYourBoon said:

    It's garbage perk.

You are wasting longer gen time for tokens. And one hit, you are losing all tokens.

    This perk is terrible bad.

    It should be buffed tho.

That's what the thread is suggesting... a change. I feel like you didn't read anything past the perk name in the title.

there is a killer perk for anti-blendettes. that killer perk is whispers. you can use it to triangulate any survivors position. It is just that killer are not willing to spend perk slot to counter blendettes play-style. The blendettes escaping with key is not gaining any MMR. they just playing for a draw. The killer only experiences an emotional loss.

Hatch in general seems like it was designed to break stalemates and draws. the issue is that it used to count as survivors escaping because of old emblem system that relied on one of the emblems to hook and kill survivors and that very old generator emblem where you could gen-rush the killer then use the key to depip the killer in a toxic way.

I understand tracking perks exist. I still don't think offering the hatch to a team who isn't interested in touching generators at all is a good idea.

  • That would be a massive buff to the perk in general. Your version here allows basically gen progress anytime you do other actions. I could wander the map doing everything other than gens, and still be able to benefit my team's gen progress. Considering that's not only hugely beneficial to get double value on various actions, but also can be done in places the killer normally wouldn't bother checking... it's not a good approach.

The current version I feel COULD be useful in denying gen kick value and an anti-3 gen perk, but the fact it loses all saved tokens after being merely injured kinda screws that. I feel like keeping its current iteration, but changing the loss of tokens would be the way to go. Have it so you lose tokens only when going into the dying state rather than being injured.

Getting a down isnt the problem, the skully in the eternal video got multiple downs and just didn't hook.

That's typically the case in a fight for attrition. Survivors are going to have to take more and more riskier plays because the remaining pallets are fewer and fewer. The killer will start ramping up damage the larger the deadzone gets. The hope though is to provide a solution before it gets TOO skewed.

  • @Xxjwaynexx said:

I mean as a killer main, with the unpopular opinion I don't think rewarding the survivors with things are a solution. Instead lets rework the skull merchants and to a much lesser extent the knights power because let's be honest no one 3 gens like these two killers. As a killer that never purposely 3 gens I should not be punished if survs 3 gen themselves. Split pressure destroys most killers that even try and three gen. If a match hasn't progressed for either side instead of having one side win, no one wins you just get a draw. Most matches should not last more than 25 minutes tops

3 gunning has been around for a long time, even b4 those killers were introduced. Eventually the devs are gonna change SOMETHING. I'd much rather them make changes to a game that's the exception and doesn't affect normal gameplay than swinging a nerf bat at killer perks again. The key is to do it in a way that only affects those really dragged out games.

Think of it kinda like AFK crows. No killer is really counting on afk crows as a source of tracking survivors, and in your average game they don't ever come up. They sure are useful for pointing out a survivor who's been in a locker for 10 minutes though, without giving away a survivor who's crouching behind cover for 30 seconds waiting for a good time to get a save.

I think it will be hard to implement something like that it will encourage people to slug while 3 gening, I think it's should be a time only requirement, and for me i don't like this thing if you don't do X you will be punished by Y imo.

If you can explain how anyone can slug without getting a down, ill agree with you.

  • @Phenomenal_Ox said:

I think making an already done gen to be available again after a certain time will be the fix

Feel like I can expand on this. What about if we do something similar to Pyramid head's cages. After X kicks to the same gen without getting a down, the gens shuffle.

  • @Exxodus21 said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3492024#Comment_3492024

But why should a killer leave a 3 gen unguarded if the survivors put themselves in that situation? And again, why should the side that made the mistake be the side to get a buff to bail them out of that mistake?

Survivors mains are adamant that if a killer has 4 survivors left after all gens are done then the killer deserves to lose and should accept it, but they also claim if survivors put themselves In 3 gen then the survivors need to accept the loss. It makes no sense to buff survivors for making a game losing mistake.

I get what your saying. It's a rookie mistake to do all the gens on 1 side of the map, then realize you screwed the other side. It's also pretty easy for a killer to look around early in the game (as early as when spawning in), see what 3 gens are closest together and make damn sure to not wander too far. I use to do this alot with Doc when I first started, and BOY is it annoying.

That's not "survivors mistake", but rather a pain in the ass strategy a killer can use to create an expanding deadzone around 3 generators, which will EVENTUALLY be the only ones remaining. Survivors have no ability to force a killer away from a generator if said killer refuses to CHASE them beyond a perimeter.

  • @Exxodus21 said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3491977#Comment_3491977

So then why not give the buff to the killer so they can take a chase that would otherwise be foolish to take rather than giving survivors a buff for playing poorly?

The idea is to provide that buff to end the game after an extended stalemate. If you've gone...let's say 5 minutes just chasing survivors off gens... rather than downing anyone, that's not a case of "survivors playing poorly". A killer turning back over and over to kick gens rather than chasing is the only people who would really be affected and that hardly is someone who should get buffed. They're already playing a game of attrition in getting rid of any pallets in the area the longer they can stretch out the situation.

  • @Rovend said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3491974#Comment_3491974

If old hatch were to spawn after 30 minutes that would be a good reason to justify the existence of keys.

I wouldn't mind that if it was a killer dragging things out forever, but I'd hate to reward Blendettes that have been crouching in bushes the whole game without ever touching a gen. The idea of a team of Blendettes waiting to escape for 20 minutes at 5 gens is terrifying.

  • @Exxodus21 said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3491381#Comment_3491381

This sounds like another bailout for survivors playing poorly. Why should they get a bonus for putting themselves in a hard to win situation and why should a killer be punished for capitalizing on their mistake?

If your going an extended amount of time without getting a down... You're not capitalizing on anything. Putting in a mechanic that JUST acts to avoid a 30 minute game of keep away while at the same time doesn't affect normal gameplay at all sounds like a win in my book.

  • @Satelit said:

    The luck stat

Feel like this is the big one. The luck Stat is only applied to self unhooking yourself, which in itself is a mechanic that's mostly ever used for people trying to kill themselves on hook. The addons need to be tossed, the self unhook thing needs to be reworked and the related perks need reworks.

  • I wanna see him in the Willy's wonderland T-shirt. Kinda fits for DBD imo.

That's like saying Wraith and Clown arn't usable in chase. I don't think these changes will make her A tier but not every killer has to be.

Clown's power is almost ENTIRELY only useful in chase, making that kind of an odd example.

Uhhh... Killers can see the deep wound timer still. I literally just saw it a couple days ago when messing around with Deathslinger.

Killers see a full bar. It doesn't display the actual amount of time counting down.

  • The entire reason it got buffed to 5 seconds is because of enduring. The nerf simply put it back to the old stun after removing enduring as a factor.

They brought it up, so I countered to make sure they understood that both sides can go on massive win streaks.

Survivor vs Killer arguments go nowhere, you know this. No matter how busted something is, you'll have ppl arguing against a nerf. In this case however, simply nerfing skull merchant to make it cannon that she has a bum knee and therefore can't kick gens isn't the way to go.

Feel like they need to pull a Freddy and do a whole rework while keeping the spirit of the character. THAT kind of conversation is a fun one rather than an argumentive one.

You know, just to be fair.

Why are we having a killer vs survivor passing match? A killer change doesn't have to be a bad thing to anyone. The idea is just to tweek it to avoid these long games, but that doesn't mean this killer can't become something interesting. We've seen the devs do reworks b4 without JUDGE slamming down the nerf hammer and calling it a day.

    Unlikely to be an issue.

She would still be an unreasonably strong 3-genner, but the game would end if she was using stuff like PR or PGTW.

Feel like the best to find a way to buff the base power in a way that would be incompatible with gen kick perks, kinda like how you can't use em with ruin.

  • Is the only problem with her how much she benefits from gen kick perks? I've never gone against her. Would NORMAL gen regression speed still be a problem or no?

  • @UndeddJester said:

The game is pretty smooth for consoles on next gen consoles, it's about as good a decent PC. Yeah ofc someone rocking a aircraft carrier in their bedroom will have advantages, but forbthe most part the game is fine on NG consoles.

Last gen consoles have a notable disadvantage ofc, inconsistent frame rates are pretty darn punishing.

Otherwise it's just controller difference, and a pad will never match mouse and keyboard... I played a game on my mates PC (I have issues with my right hand so couldn't play long) and I absolutely threw my head back in laughter at how easy it was to hit a 360ing player vs. What it normally is on console...

The advanced techniques are beyond your reach on console, the fact you can't use your proprioception to help you get those really tight clutch hits on a pad like you can on a mouse makes it so you can't reach the same levels but 95% of the time, pad will serve you fine.

Yeah... as someone who started on PC, the amount of time I wiff when trying to hit ppl while playing on console is kinda embarrassing. Was a rare occasion on PC.

I don’t even know what the devs would think of that. I mean when they were talking about the Slipknot collaboration they mentioned the band actually wanted their costumes/masks to be for the survivors because that’s who they identified with. Mathieu, however, said they talked them into doing the killers because “it didn’t make sense” or something like that to do it for survivors. Personally, I don’t get it - survivors can dress up and be scary… Jeff is the metal head after all. Being dark and metal doesn’t equate to being a killer even if their look does align more with the killers in this game. So that makes me think they wouldn’t do it.

I, however, wouldn’t mind it. I don’t know if I’d do every survivor as the killer they released with though… some seem to aesthetically fit with different ones…

Right? Meg can get masks from their other game and it's NP, but her wearing a slipknot mask makes no sense?

i play this game on switch and pc and by god switch killer is so soooooo bad, it's pretty much impossible to compete as any killer that requires precision and fast turns, and even the simple basic attacks are a challenge

Thought I was the only one on switch, lol. You play with the joycons?

  • As someone who's played both... controller sucks, lol. Simple things like turning is alot slower and chunkier on controller. Makes it alot harder to run jungle gyms and such with alot of killers who's abilities would USUALLY allow them to excel. With Huntress for example, I would normally be able to chase someone around killershack, raise a hatchet when I get the door and turn fast enough to be aiming at the window.

The speed of my turn is only limited to how fast I can move the mouse. The speed of my turning on console however IS limited. This also affects dumb stuff like flashlight save attempts. Attempts where I'd be able to turn quickly and avoid a flashlight on kb/m result in a successful blind on controller.

So... I really can't wait til consoles get KB/M support. I don't know why this isn't already a thing. It seems so simple since we can already plug in a USB keyboard for typing.

Just make it so the highest effect applies. It doesn't stack, just takes the largest number, like if someone gets Exhausted for 5 seconds and then 20 seconds it just makes them Exhausted for 20 seconds, not 25. If you use MFT + Hope + Dark Theory you still only reach 7%. That'd allow BHVR to buff other pretty awful perks to be a lot more useable solo without worrying about breaking the game.

Feel like this approach should be applied to alot of things so perks don't need to be gutted under the idea of "too strong if you combine it with 7 other things". I may be abit salty about Freddy's only useful addons getting a nerf on the basis of ppl using them with various slowdown perks. The combo of "forever freddy" might have been a problem, but the individual pieces were fine.

  • Wouldn't this just incentivize slugging everyone to death? They're reworking Sadako to deincentivize this on her, but this would make slugging builds stronger for EVERY killer.

  • I actually like his speed addons. While it's true they come with -charge speed, it feels worth it.

That makes sense. I assume I will reach a point eventually I could make it challenging for a killer like this. Right now I can assure you I am not a challenge. Perhaps that is all this was this morning. Maybe this killer just kept getting paired with survivors like myself that just aren't that good..... yet.

It's good to be able to identify perks, or at least keep in mind common perks for various killers. You can then work to counter those perks. With the example of Billy and BBQ for example, you can hide your aura by either hopping in a locker or crouching on the opposite side of a gen from where the killer is hooking. Lockers block aura reading, and Gens have their own auras for killers, which can overlap survivor auras from perks.

Someone wasn't around pre-nerf balanced landing. That would make it really dumb in some maps. Head on could probably do for a similar buff as its mostly a meme, but i'd be wary as it has a lot of potential to be abused by SWF to make a killer's life miserable.

Didn't even think of the head on abuse until you mentioned it. Having to be wary of every locker a survivor runs by because their SWF buddies keep setting up head on stuns gets annoying fast.

    Not a helpful comment.

I play my Piggy best I can with a controller on my Xbox, but I know I'm limited somewhat simply by the platform I play DBD on.

It's not all doom and gloom as the OP suggests, but the disparity when playing killer is startling. There's no way to play Nurse or even Blight anywhere near full potential on console, the rest are more difficult to git gud with, plus Trickster is absolutely just unplayable.

I really don't know how our dear Switch cousins do it.

    Switch user here...

I mostly just stick with less mechanically hard killers. Huntress flicks are tricky for example, but there's not much trouble with someone like Myers.

Except the effort deathslinger takes to get a hit is nowhere near comparable to that of a hnr killer, it's not a dumb concept, you're just applying it in a way that makes no sense. Legion can very much get free hits, dang neear objectively speaking, it's not a hard concept....

Mind you I haven't just said "I don't like it" over and over again, I've explained what makes it dumb. It takes no skill, it's lazy, it's boring (subjective but most ppl find chases fun), and it's a pubstomp playstyle. Lazy pubstomp playstyles cannot be argued to be good for the game, if we're being honest which I know we're still not.

Maybe one day you and crow will try to start reading, but you're just not right now. Putting words in my mouth telling me I'm saying hit and run is dumb just because I don't like it despite the fact I've made actual points as to what makes it unhealthy. Meanwhile guess what you're doing, saying it is good for the game just because bhvr encourages it, even though that's just as illogical as if I said hit and run is unhealthy because I don't like it (which I didn't)

It's OK, one day Pig will be nerfed and all those OP Wraiths will get what's coming to them. Until then, ppl will just keep defending these SSS tier killers who just beat everyone (not you though). The OP strat of looking at the bigger picture instead of 1 survivor at a time is the problem with DBD I'm sure. It's not like the killer you keep whining...err... rightfully blasting is one of the first 3 killers in the game. THIS is what's gonna be DBDs downfall. How dare ppl think to hit someone else and not hit you twice!!! That person must just hate fun.

  • @1ettuce said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3486406#Comment_3486406

Then idk why you even went on about deathslinger because it literally isn't comparable to the amount of effort hitting someone as legion or a stealth killer takes.

I'm fixated on stealth killers now? Maybe because they excel at hit and run strats? Crazy idea??? I never said legion was uncounterable btw, still just boring, and the 32m TR and red stain just don't apply to stealth killers. It's funny how you're now just cherry picking to support your argument, acting like it's only legion and completely ignoring stealth killers' existence. It's just absurd

The deathslinger thing was just me calling something "free hits" like you did. It's a dumb concept that went over your head even when labeled.

Back in the day, we'd tell killers to avoid spending too much time on 1 survivor because their teammates would hammer out gens unimpeded. This was the original use of the phrase "tunneling" as in tunnel vision. You can find videos on YouTube of survivors having 5 gen chases and such.

The correct answer to avoid that is doing what you're complaining about. Typically you aim for a hit or a pallet, and if the survivor uses the speed boost to make it to pallet city... leave them. This is especially true for killers without a solid chase based power like Sadako or Ghostface.

Now... you can say you don't like something, but that doesn't mean its dumb. It also doesn't mean its "bad for the game" just because you don't like it. You're gonna have things in this game, as well as basically every multi-player game that you personally like more than other things. This does not mean you can dictate how others play by labeling it all "dumb" or "unhealthy to the game".

  • @Crowman said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3486365#Comment_3486365

If they are very common perks, then taking a perk to counter them is reasonable. It's not like I'm telling you to take some bad perk that counters a very niche situation.

Wraith isn't even a top killer in dbd and you're complaining about how unstoppable he is when the killer player using his power effectively. Some point you just have to realize, it's not the killer who is at fault.

I wouldn't take this seriously. How else is Pig gonna get her next nerf if ppl aren't gonna complain about these SSS tier killers, lol.

  • @1ettuce said:

"Deathslinger just has to shoot you twice" ever heard of looping, or dodging, or breaking LOS? Or maybe consider that aiming deathslingers gun actually takes skill? What an insane skill issue lmao. Also yeah I quite literally have explained why it's bad, it's because it's a no skill pubstomp strat. Hate to break it to you but just because you quite literally lack info you would get from a swf doesnt mean its a skill issue, theres quite literally often no way to tell some things even if you have game sense. You really think if you don't currently see that a survivor is in chase, everyone should just stop what they're doing and get to a safe tile until someone starts getting chased? Where in swf you can literally just heal up, like you should be able to do in solo....Not to mention that wraith doesnt initiate chase while cloaked so, great, even less way to know whats happening, you sound completely ridiculous

I can't believe I pointed out the deathslinger was sarcasm and you still went on about it, lol. Your initial complaint was hit and run, but you sem fixated on stealth killers now. You brought up Legion, but him walking up to anyone injured and M1ing them is apparently uncounterable. The 32 meterTR and red stain isn't enough of a clue.

  • @ARTRA said:

No yet, i guess devs were surprised that people thinks (with reason) that Sadako is nerfed and they are working on it?

Also i think it will be cool if demanifested sadako can cross pallets. It could have a fun standoff like wraith. Cant manifest while in a pallet of course.

That would be OP as all hell if she can both cross through pallets AND not be stunned by them. Considering the limited slowdown she has from shifted between forms, pallets would turn basically useless.

  • @1ettuce said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3486297#Comment_3486297

Ah yes, clearly nurse and deathslinger are exactly the same killer since they're both chasers.

It's free hits because it's just stealthing up on someone, it's an outplay in terms of results, not in terms of skill. It's not you "misplaying," you can't just keep track of the killer just because you want to....the killer is literally just sneaking up on you twice, you're just saying it's a survivor misplay with no actual reasoning behind it because you're tying skill to results even though that's not how it works.

Also ever heard of an example? Because I don't remember ever saying such a thing was in fact in the game, just fits what you're talking about since you seem to consider a survivor getting hit a "misplay" regardless of how much skill it took the killer or how much opportunity there was for the survivor to avoid it. So let's not put words in my mouth to try to have a point.

What are you talking about? Surely that's "free hits". Deathslinger JUST has to shoot you twice. That's like double free hits. That's an all you can hits buffet. This is heavy sarcasm incase you're about to write a book about it btw.

You still haven't mentioned how Legion using his power correctly instead of only stabbing 1 person is bad. Just that you lack situational awareness on if the killer is currently chasing someone and where that is. That first part is basekit now by looking at your hud.

  • @1ettuce said:

I never said you couldn't play or prefer any playstyle you want, I'm just saying it's dumb and not good for the game, there's a difference. "If you're being outplayed by a "dumb" playstyle, it's not dumb." That's just wrong because what makes it dumb is that it's a playstyle that quite literally centers around only getting free hits. It lets you get hits or "outplays" that take zero effort or skill, there's no merit to your logic

Imagine there was a "playstyle" that let you just press a button and all 4 survivors immediately died. Clearly you outplayed them, since they all died, and clearly it's not a dumb playstyle because you outplayed them. Like naw, that aint how it works

How is it not good for the game to have a diversity in playstyles? If they only had 1 playstyle and every killer was expected to play the same way... this game would have died. Who would bother buying new killers if they played the exact same way?

How is it "free hits"? You're still getting hit... twice. That's them outplaying you. You lost track of where the killer was and got punished for it. You missplayed That's not "pushing a button and 4 ppl dying". THAT was a complete stretch. That's nowhere near what were talking about and is not in the game. The devs don't encourage the "press 1 button and 4 ppl die" playstyle, so let's not make stuff up to try to have a point.

And just because bhvr encourages dumb playstyles doesnt make them not dumb

You can prefer whatever playstyle you want, but when the game is specifically setup to cater to those OTHER styles too, it means it's perfectly fine for ppl to do that. This game has a wide cast of killers that are not going to be played the exact same ways. To expect a killer to forgo their own power and just run in circles as "man with knife" is what's truly dumb. If you're being outplayed by a "dumb" playstyle, it's not dumb. If you're NOT being outplayed, then why complain about killers getting "easy hits" that they're not getting against you.

Because it's literally just going around the map as legion or a stealth killer and only getting hits that will take minimal effort, just because you're applying pressure to multiple survivors doesn't mean it actually takes any skill or effort whatsoever

As opposed to a stealth killer NOT using stealth to get hits? Or Legion NOT utilizing the info his power gives him to hit every survivor around? Just because something is "more skillful" doesn't make it a good idea.

I hate both of those but I hate hit and run even more, brainless playstyle

How is it brainless to apply pressure on as many survivors as possible rather than focus on 1 at a time?

  • Feel like the "fear" is gone because of how many ppl dropped it from their builds. It went from having to treat EVERY survivor like they had DS, to realizing it's likely that nobody in the lobby has it. It's lack of a pick rate is what is causing ppl to not be wary of it.
