Well the person said they played for 40 minutes before DCing. After the first 5 minutes you could start the recording, at least on PC. Its not like they are gunna repair the gens and escape, you got the time. You could even take the time to alt-tab, google, and install recording software at that point. Same thing I do with blatant cheaters. Once they reveal their hand, that they plan on holding the game hostage, or someone else cheating blatantly, I start recording. I change my win condition to 'gather enough evidence for a ban'.

I don't disagree that requiring a recording is a high ask of most players, but what else can be done? Part of the problem is the game originally was designed around P2P connection. Arguably all a server is programmed as, is a 6th player to host the match. While I would love a replay system, most games need to be designed from the ground up around replays. That basically means rebuilding the game from the ground up. We would more likely get a DBD2 with replays, than replays in the base game.

Also I would recommend any mid level player (basically anyone who no longer considers themself a newbie, and can't win as Killer without gen slowdown perks on their best Killer) to record their own matches if they want to improve. I honestly believe you could learn more from analyzing a close or crushing defeat, than could be learned from any victories. Even then, the victories could have moments the player messed up, and the recording would help be objective evidence of how they could improve. That way the recording being available for a ban becomes a neat side benefit instead.

Unfortunately that's not gonna be possible for everyone. My little switch ain't recording a thing, lol.

  • Spirit... Not for any kind of balance reason, but just because when I was new to survivor she freaked me out. I'd spend the whole match as a nervous mess. I guess you could make the argument that this is a horror game, but for the most part...it's really just a horror theme rather than being horror genre.

FTP works with We're Gonna Live Forever so I don't know why it wouldn't work with Buckle Up.

The issue is buckle up protects BOTH survivors. There's not exactly much counterplay to that. Kinda brings back the feeling of survivors popping the OG syringe anytime you get a down.

  • Then explain how someone who is in no way connected to you is causing YOUR rubberbanding rather than rubberbanding themselves, KIDDO...

  • While I agree it makes for some unfortunate perk combos... what's shown in the video is def not a reason to nerf it.

People like them deserves each other tho. 14 hours, insane lmao.

But i am glad this hatch standing thing gone. It was so stupid. Current hatch is fair and good way to end match.

For sure. Back in the day I use to get kinda salty about hatch. It spawning while there's still survivors around would lead to cases with survivors more or less giving up and camping hatch while hoping their teammates would get caught. Now... it doesn't spawn before you can jump in it, so it feels fair. It's not the cases of survivors jumping in hatch the moment I kill their teammate on hook. Slugging the 3rd to find the 4th was so much more common back then.

  • @MikaelaWantsYourBoon said:

This post remind me the old hatch days. Where killer and the last survivor were standing on the hatch and waiting for each other. When both of them were greedy, it would take a hour maybe to finish hatch fight.

I was thinking the same thing. I remember hearing about a streamer being in a hatch standoff for an ungodly amount of time (I think like 14 hours). Eventually he won...and the survivor had the nerve to call him sweaty like he wasn't equally involved.

This perk is only good when paired with boil over and flip flop on sabo squads. Other than that it’s garbage

Feel like it's kinda like some of the killer addons that are just nerfs. SOME of them though can be kinda sorta a positive if you combo them with other stuff. Trapper's padded Jaws for example can help you get extra stacks of STBFL.

  • Been seeing some interesting plays with it comboed with plot twist. Can instantly turn off corrupt as soon as you load into a match. Also, if your teammates have perks like autodidact that activate from healing teammates, can help them farm stacks as soon as the match starts.

  • Were you and your teammates pressuring gens? Not everyone is going to play the game based off morals and rather based off time management. If they look over and see survivors wasting time trying to lure them from a hook... they can easily tell who ISNT doing gens and can assess that they have plenty of time. You as a survivor have to pressure the time they have by doing gens.

Also, unless it's an instadown killer like Bubba... you can simple do hook swapping. Hook grabs got removed, making hook swapping pretty easy. Had a Huntress do this to me the other day while I played Solo Q. The team just cranked gens, took turns being on hook and we got a 4 man escape in the end. I guarantee you we would've all died if our gameplan instead was "wait behind this rock and hope the killer goes away".

It definitely had something to do with it. I've got really fast internet speed and hadn't experienced anything like it since 2020 bit go off random internet expert, lmao.

The killer is not the host, so even if they have horrible connection, it won't cause you to rubberband. That is entirely due to your connection with the server.

Does Deja Vu only work in the beginning of the trial one time?

Deja vu gives you aura reading on the closest 3 gens to each other. The aura reading is permanent, and will adjust when one of those gens are done to show you the NEXT group of 3 gens close together. You also get a 6% boost to repair speed on those gens.

2 man SWF pretty much is solo queue. And only 10% play in 3 man SWFs.

Either way, it means the 96% number being solo queue is false

  • In all fairness, if you're spamming a specific iri addon every game... you can't really use that to tell how strong she is. How much of that is the addons? Try using various addons and seeing if your having similar results.

Ask yourself truthfully if current SM is enough to make you quit DBD and stop buying cosmetics until she gets changed.

If the answer is no, then that means she isn’t going to be that high on the priority list for a remake.

If the answer is yes, then the next question is whether the amount of people who share the same sentiment would be statistically significant.

Now imagine the community response if devs announced that one of their Licensed Killers would be delayed till next year because they had to remake SM.

The premise that SM causes so much grief that everything should be dropped to remake her is so silly.

I'm just imagining bhvr throwing shade during a Q&A. "Yeah, we actually got the Jason license this year and we were ALMOST done working on it... but thanks to THIS forum thread right here, we decided the game was going to die if we didn't immediately focus on SM. Once again, if someone didn't see it, it was THIS thread that did it. Real shame too, because Jason was gonna ride around on a Xenomorph, and the survivor for the chapter was gonna be Chuck Norris."

You rubberbanding has nothing to do with the killer.

  • I feel like because it requires constant attention whereas with survivor, you get breaks. If you know the killer is busy, you can just plant yourself on a gen and not worry for abit. This is why alot of streamers can be way more active with their chat while playing survivor vs playing killer.

Freddy pre-work was anything but bad depending on how you played. I ran a full skill checks that force dream wake up non stop.

It was still rough for any endgame situation. Adrenaline was alot more common and since it wakes up survivors... you have situations where now every survivor is untouchable until you reapply sleep on everyone. Also tended to be an absolute breeze to unhook, and the unhooked survivor was completely safe too since...they were awake, lol.

IIRC their explanation was that Spine Chill working as an AoE-type perk (versus working when the killer has line of sight) was a bandaid till they got the visual terror radius up & running. They intended to nerf it because it was widely used (they claimed). It was overhauled with a bunch of other popular survivor perks.

Nerfing something because it's popular is the dumbest thing...

  • @Ayodam said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3495327#Comment_3495327

They did. Spine Chill has been nerfed a couple of times and the first time it lost the vault speed boost. The second time it lost the non-LoS detection. Now it lights up if a killer has LoS on you but the issue people have is that generally if a killer has LoS on you, you can see them as well. Thus no need for Spine Chill.

Did they give any reason for nerfing it to remove the useful information stuff? I know they said the visible heartbeat was why they removed the TR indicator, but SC USE to be pretty good at telling if you have the killer's attention.

  • The devs only killswitch stuff when there's a bug involved, not when players find it annoying.

Yeah I hadn’t played Hag in over a year until then. I don’t enjoy her normal playstyle.

It's def different than what I got use to with basically every other killer. I've been going around and giving killers that I don't have much experience with a try. Hag was on that list for sure. Once I got the hang of it, I was doing really well for the most part. Was also nice that I could use her brown or yellow addons and not feel like it's a huge blow that I didn't pick green or higher.

The only real issue I had with her is due to her being slower and not a ranged killer, basically any speed buff made it feel like survivors could loop a rock for eternity. That's not good since MFT is popular right now.

  • @Hermit said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3495299#Comment_3495299

Old spine chill also gave a bonus to vault speed, that’s why a lot of people were using it, combined with resilience.

If that was the only issue people had with the perk, why not just address THAT instead of gutting the information part as well though?

  • @Exerlin said:

It's incredibly disappointing to see Spine Chill turn from a decent information perk to being the embodiment of Captain Obvious. I shouldn't have to say that a perk that only tells you when the killer can currently see you is useless. It needs to work through walls again, or it will be the new "deja vu", a laughably bad perk

That's an insult to deja vu. I don't understand why it was nerfed to begin with. Spine chill was never an OP perk. There was no reason to nerf it.

Sidenote though... Deja vu is actually a decent perk since its buff. Not GREAT, but definitely not useless.

  • At least the lack of hookgrabs makes it so you can still trade hooks against most killers. I've been using deja vu and kindred alot on survivor lately. Last time I was on, had a Huntress who was fully content on hard camping every hook and beating the guy on hook. We simply powered through the gens while hook swapping. Was able to get a 4 man escape. I don't know about the other 3, but I at least was playing solo queue.

  • @sizzlingmario4 said:

Trail of Torment is a lot better now, I will definitely use it more. I played some games with it with Fearmonger on the PTB so survivors doing generators couldn’t see the yellow aura and it often stayed up for a long time.

Remember Me is so close to being decent but it needs to lose the restriction of not working on the obsession.

Love the Smash Hit buff too.

And yes I did play one game with the new Waterlogged Shoe (and Scarred Hand so traps would bodyblock survivors), used Monitor and Abuse to be a speedy Hag with a 16m terror radius to approach survivors quickly. I still wouldn’t say it’s stronger than her normal power, but it was fun.

I don't usually use Iri addons, but the waterlogged shoe seemed like it could be a fun alternative style. I wonder if anyone who doesn't normally play Hag will play as her to try it out. As for the fear monger combo... I never thought of that. I might be stealing that idea for my Bubba.

They removed the 32 meter range in the completed generator. Now when a gen is complete all windows on the map get blocked for 30 seconds.

That's neat. I don't usually use perks that have limited number of uses on killer, but I might give it a try.

True but I don't really make good builds at all. I'd rather play for my own amusement than making a build that makes sense.

I try to avoid using perks that clash too much. Every now and then I'll forget and try using ruin with nowhere to hide or something, then get reminded of the problem when I can't kick any gens.

  • @Chilli_man2400 said:

I love the buffed coup de grace and claustrophobia. It pretty much makes me play on autopilot. I don’t need to worry about gens and loops cause it makes me stronger. Especially Sadako she’s a beast using coup de grace and constantly teleporting

What did they do to Claustrophobia? That one went under my radar.

  • I generally play a jack of all trades when I play survivor. I like running various information perks so I know what's going on around me and I can play efficiently. Bond for example is great for telling me who's around who can heal/needs heals, while also telling me if a teammate is gonna run the killer past me. WOO has been a pretty big crutch perk for me lately on letting me know what pallets are still standing late in the game. Deja vu cuts down on time needed to find gens, especially on indoor maps. Also ruins any 3 gen situations early on.

  • @GolbezGarlandGabrant said:

I loved Trail of Torment before the buff and it's even better now. I've been doing full stealth builds with Dark Devotion, ToT, Machine Learning and Tinkerer. It's fun.

Why use multiple perks for suppressing your TR? Isn't that just wasted overlap?

  • @BasementDweller said:

I might use trail of torment on certain stealth builds. For survivor I'll probably bring blast mine and wire tap together.

I rarely use any of the other perks that were change.

I'm never going to use Hangman's trick.

I figured something like trail of torment would be great on killers with an instadown on killers like Plague who's BASICALLY an instadown. I've been wanting to try it on Bubba.

  • It confuses Pinhead. He's not use to survivors causing their own suffering.

  • @Uxoxe said:

I want to know why solo-queue, with 96% of the player base, is not the group being balanced around. Balancing around the 4% of players that play 4 man SWFs, screws 96% of the player base and ruins their fun. (Based on the last data we received from the developers showing that only 4% of the player base plays 4 man SWFs).

You realize that just because survivors aren't in a 4 man SWF, doesn't mean they're solo queue, right? 2 and 3 man SWFs exist too.

  • @ReikoMori said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/385073/tri-gen

Every killer can hold a three gen to some degree due to a combination of perks, powers, and addons. Some are much better at than others, but there are ways to mitigate it in most cases.

The one thing the devs did do was buff Deja Vu to point out a potential 3 gen cluster and give you a buff to repair so you can break up that 3 gen earlier in the game.

Been using Deja vu alot recently and feel like I really helps with not only breaking up possible 3 gens, but also just time management in general. I can cut down on time needed to FIND a gen, which can be a huge time sink on indoor maps. Even on other maps though, not having to look around to find a gen that hasn't been completed yet is handy.

  • @Xernoton said:

There is only 1 part of Adrenaline that I find unfair.

If you play against Freddy Adrenaline wakes you up. Meaning, Freddy has no power in end game. That is a tragedy.

That was REALLY bad when Freddy had to put you to sleep b4 being able to touch you.

  • They wouldn't introduce something like that without running it through the PTB first.

  • @Dreamnomad said:

I would argue that it is still better to have a player that behaves suboptimal than no player at all.

If said player is sandbagging you... not so much. In this case, the actual players CANT do the box and just have to deal with a chain hunt. That makes almost impossible to do anything.

  • @Blueberry said:

After playing against her quite a bit she feels significantly weaker.

That's discouraging. I played her abit BEFORE the change and was kinda hoping the changes would change her in a positive way instead of just neutering her and calling it a day. I was hoping her tapes would be treated similarly to Plague's pools where you have to really think if you want to use them. Sounds like it's basically a pure net positive though. Getting caught with a tape in your hand, which is the worst outcome of taking it, is pretty tame.

The bots we have now and the bots we had during the tutorial are, while the same, wildly different in the sense that they had to be improved upon before being implemented into the full blown public matches.

And despite you saying you're not going to answer I'm going to place this one question out there: Why insert your input somewhere in a General Discussion thread if the idea of debating, discussion or even potentially arguing is what will make you flee a conversation?

I play public matches, I don't play customs, its not unreasonable to think that someone that's been playing for years hasn't gotten to experience the bots in their more pristine form especially when II cant tell you what year I played the tutorial and those bots then were clunky at best.

I don't mind discussing things at all. I'm just not interested in getting into any kind of heated debate/argument. That's how it sounded things were going as soon as I was accused of twisting your words. Something like that, especially online, is generally as conducive as 2 people screaming at a wall and a waste of time.

If you look, you'll notice not EVERYTHING in general discussions is that. You have plenty of positive interactions on these forums too (unfortunately not as much as the negative alot of times) where people can simply bounce neat ideas off each other or share experiences. I'm all for that. I'm not interested in an internet screaming match. I just figured I'd spare your time by letting you know you'd be the lone participant in any such matches if that's where you were going.

  • @bearr_trap said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3492938#Comment_3492938

For those who don't play custom matches, that would be considered new. Twisting my words into 'test the bots' is far from how I implied it. If I wanted to 'test the bots' I would've played the PTB and I would've fiddled about with custom matches. I didn't want to 'test the bots' I wanted to "see the new bot in action" as it had been a rather popular highlight of upcoming changes and improvements.

Let me state, once more, I didn't DC as soon as the match started. I played well into 10 minutes of it before remembering bots were a thing and opted to check it out while under the impression I'd be alright after a two weekish hiatus where, even then, I don't believe I had a penalty that was over 15 minutes per the last time (who knows when) I had DCed (Note: I didnt take my wee break because of a 15 minute penalty, I simply recall that being the most I had prior to the date I started my break)

I'm not trying to argue or debate. If that's what you want to do... don't bother replying, because I'm not gonna answer beyond this. I was simply stating there is no new bots. They've had these bots in the game for awhile now, they just weren't tied to DCing b4. These are the same bots ppl have seen during the tutorial practice matches and the custom matches. Considering they locked 2 characters behind those practice matches now, it's pretty realistic to think ALOT of ppl have already seen them in action if no other reason than to unlock those 2 characters.

  • Because crashes don't JUST occur due to issues with the server. If someone's connection at home is spotty, I would want them to take a minute to check their connection, reset their modem, ect. That's all I'm getting at.

On the other hand, if the servers are on fire and that's why you DCed... Does it really matter that you can't installing run back into the train wreck? I'd be just doing something else for the night rather than beat my head against a DBD wall.

  • I'm kinda scared now to hop on today... I play on Switch. Pray for me.

  • Having SOME downtime after a crash/ragequit sounds like a good thing to me. Gives time to settle any issues on your end, whether that be time to take a breath and calm down or time to check your internet connection. If the time is over by the time you exit the match screen, it didn't really do anything at all did it?

That being said, just like someone above me pointed out... there's no reason to "test the bots" by DCing. The bots themselves arnt new, just the usage of them in normal matches as opposed to custom matches is new.

You can jump to locker and force her to grab you. In this case, you will still have tape.

Why survivor will do this? If they have 5 stacks and caught by Sadako, probably only counter will be jumping to locker.

    I completely forgot that one.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

That is the case sometimes, and other times the killer can easily force that. The order in which gens are completed does not matter if the killer is playing around a 3 gen from the start and never leaves that area. I don't know if people just aren't that experienced in the game and have never run into it, or they're so bunkered down into their favored side that they can't acknowledge it. I can put on Corrupt, load into half the maps in the game, and have a 3 gen before the survivors have even moved.

I think it's abit of both. Some people can be willfully blind to problems because it helps "there side". When DS was in its prime and you'd have ppl cranking out gens or breaking your totems while being untouchable... You get hit with a 59 sec DS and on the forums ppl will INSIST you must've been tunneling. How can you have any meaningful conversation?

As for the whole 3 gen thing... When I first started playing this game, I learned about the concept from YouTube and would be VERY obnoxious about defending whatever gens were closest to each other as soon as the match started. That's not a survivor misplay, that was my whole strategy. I REALLY sucked at chases back then too, but doesn't matter much since by the time there's just 1 gen left, there's no pallets in that whole area left.

I'd have some long games... Imagine trying to get anything accomplished against an OG Doc who could put you in madness 3 over and over by EXISTING on the same side of the map as you, lol.

Identity V 's afk crows also have a second "didnt touch gen in x seconds"-timer, if i remember correctly.

Maybe somthing like that could help?

I'd be ok with something similar, but you have to be real careful with it. There's going to be other things to do in the trial than gens. Would really suck to get screwed over because you've been doing back to back altruistic actions like unhook and heals for example.

I'd rather have it closer to detecting when ppl arnt doing anything that can be even argued as progressing the game in the most widest view possible. Steve hasn't done gens in abit but... hey... at least he broke a dull totem. He's countering NOED, lol. I wouldn't have the system screw over Steve. If Steve didn't even do THAT though...sure.
