  • They WERE tweeking a handful of perks with each update for awhile, which seemed to show things were going in the right direction. I know surveillance and detective's hunch got changed for example which lead to more uses from both. They DID just buff up ironwill though, so... I dunno.

  • Ping, and maybe if someone has a name claiming they'll DC for XYZ reason

Is this dude still trying to insist that he's right and everyone else is wrong and the DC penalty is bad?

My man; the DC penalty is literally the ONE thing Survivors and Killers can agree on. (Well...1 of 3 things; DC penalty, Trapper needs a buff, and Legion is pitiful).

You have tons of people telling you you are wrong. Just accept it; we need the DC penalty. Your attitude shows exactly why.

Shhhh... He just said he's not gonna play anymore. I see this as an absolute win.

No it's not meaningless, i still have 3 years played of this game but i'm not playing DbD until performance gets fixed, i've said this multiple times now, if people don't read then that's not on me. I'm just saying DC penalties should not be back on when the game still isn't performing well, doesn't matter if i'm a minority or not, you don't ignore minorities, you don't ignore customers. That's all i have said all this time. And i'm using real world anologies to make the point across. You don't issue temporary bans on people in the real world without cause. If you're caught stealing and go to jail there's a worthy cause to time you out of the rest of society, you got caught cheating the rest of society so until you pay for it you're locked out. DC'ing in DbD isn't a worthy cause to ban someone from playing until you have a worthy cause to issue the Ban but since the game isn't performing well there's plenty of causes for DC's so it's much easier for the reason to be outside of players control thus the system can't work and punish people just because a DC happened.

Sweet, we'll let ya know when you can go ahead and log back in. Until then, go ahead and do as you said and dont play anymore.

Those people endure real suffering cause there was no other option. DbD has another option. DC bans only perpetuate frustration by not being able to move on to another match. It's much easier for you to recover if you get a better match than sit there waiting and let that DC in a harmless video game chew on your psyche. You're much more inclined to stay frustrated by waiting than you are by fiding another match.

Or... if your psyche is so fragile that not being able to DC without punishment is breaking you, you have the option of uninstalling. Maybe look for another multiplayer game that lets you DC if the other players dont play how you want them to.

Yes endure a bad game, very healthy behaviour to have. Let me purpusefully endure this crap match, whatever the reason may be, instead of finding one that can be better and keep me happy and playing for longer... Very good psychology there. Using FEAR of a ban to keep people in a BAD place isn't a Solution. Very good psychology there. Either Endure the match or endure the penalty, so you're just enduring something rather than having enjoyment in something? very good psychology there.

So if a DC'er should endure the game then the remaining ones should endure the game with 1 less player aswell right? So Dc'ing doesn't ruin the game for anyone else more than it ruins it for the DC'er. If someone doesn't show up for work somebody else has to endure right? But you're not banning the other guy from working are you? you need that guy to work, same as DbD needs that player.

DC'ing isn't a crime and enduring crap matches isn't an heroc thing. If the game was better less people would crash, less people would have performance issues, less people would find reasons to DC.

I can tell you 1 DC is the same pratical effect of 1 Sacrifice. The end result is the same, 1 less Survivor. Only if a killer DC's is it really problematic since the whole match is canceled but until you figure out why the killer DC'ed you can't fault the player. The DC ban system also can't tell why a player DC'ed which is why the deactivated the system in this chapter...

So if the system can't tell why then the system is punishing players regardless of anything. Then people stop dc'ing because they are AFRAID of the penalty. How can you support a system that can't identify causes and uses fear to prevent DCs?

Yup, endure whatever match you get placed in or get hit with the DC penalty. Im glad you catch on quick. You might not LIKE the punishment, but you are infact seeing that its a punishment. You arnt SUPPOSE to like it. Endure or suffer the punishment, cuz id much rather have 5 people in my game who will "endure" than have anyone who decides that XYZ map/perk/killer/WHATEVER isnt fun and DCes for it.

Queues times influence matchmaking, if there's people who can't be in matchmaking then matchmaking is slower. So to counter that slowdown matchmaking will start picking any available people regardless of FAIRNESS, meaning unfair matches wich can lead to more DC's. That's how DC's influence matchmaking and queues. Not only unfair matches but also further away people aswell, meaning worse connections which cna lead to match cancelation cause DC's in loading or DC's because the connection is bad throughout the match and someone decides they had enough...

Just because you play with people who Don't DC doesn't mean they are enjoying the game, maybe they are just enduring it so they can avoid the DC ban...

People SHOULD endure rather than DC. It doesnt matter if you find a particular map/killer/whatever to be not your particular favorite, DCing shouldnt be tolerated for anything shy of being stuck in a rock or something. For those enduring because they dont wanna be hit with a penalty... sounds like the penalty is having the results it was intended to have. Endure on.

If I'm spending Bloodpoints and then swapping to the survivor I had originally intended to play with, what time should I make the switch to not upset killers who react this way?

Sooner than 6 seconds. People who do those last second swaps just send the message that they're trying to trick you at the lobby screen. Having your stuff in order well before that point is ideal. Swapping in at 20 seconds sends a whole different message than swapping in at 6. Being able to swap at all is kind of a survivor privilege since Killer selection gets locked in.

  • Mostly keys, but 6 second swapping to anything annoys the hell out of me. I dont even care WHAT you swapped in.

  • Think it will be hilarious to see posts from survivors complaining that Killers are spawning ontop of their totems and that their totems got destroyed within 20 seconds of the match starting, lol.

The amount of times DbD has crashed for me on PS5 would warrant me hours of bans during this chapter and event....Even now with the 2 "fix patches" i'm still having performance issues on PS5. Not even playing, just logging into the game drops massive frames, clicking either killer or survivor makes the game freeze and buffer but hey the Store opens up immediatly when you click it, then you can imagine what happens when a match starts.... Now come tell me it's my fault if i chose or get DC'ed too much and i'm warranted those bans that i would have gotten...

All the DC bans do is makes queue times longer and force the matchmaking to pick people outside of a a fair match setting. If queues are longer and matches are unfair what do you think happens? More people will DC cause they don't want an unfair match after they've already waited however long for it. Plus there isn't any game balance reason for the DC bans to exists, DC's don't Balance matches, doesn't help queue times and doesn't help matchmacking fairness.

What is the DC bans benefiting? Absolutly nothing, sometimes you're punishing quitters, sometimes you're punishing people who did nothing wrong but EVERYTIME you're influencing queues and matchmaking fairness. Think about this...

I dont know where you got the idea that longer queue times will cause people to want to DC and thus re-enter said queues. It should actually be the exact opposite really, lol. As for WHY you keep DCing...yeah, it sucks when you have an issue outside of your control. That being the case though, even if you are dropping out of your matches for technical issues...those matches STILL get ruined for the other 4 players. Allowing you to hobble into another match so you can DC from that one too doesnt fix anything and just pushes the problem to another batch of players. If your lagging out of your matches so often that your DC punishment timer gets cranked up really high, yeah...it sucks... but I know I wouldnt wanna get queued up with you. Just tells me that you're just as likely to end up DCing out of the lobby as someone who ragequit over and over to get their DC timer that high.

As for your question of what do DC bans do...

It increases the likelihood that I'm gonna get to play with people who WONT DC, since the people who DO DC alot (whether from technical issues OR requiting) are waiting for their long DC timers to go down.

  • @lemonsway said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2403529#Comment_2403529

You're absolutly right. But you can't tell why i DC'ed and neither can i tell why you DC'ed and we can't see each other's DC timers so we have no way to tell WHY the DC happened and if it's a frequent thing for you or me. So we're either both screwed by an unfair ban or we're both DC'ing alot or one of us is and the other isn't. Can you tell? Cause i can't tell who DC's alot and doesn't. That's why i am not lumping Bad Sports and Bad Performance/Unexpected events together like most people is.

I cant tell who DCes alot, but the system can. If you had a weird fluke experience where you had to DC for the first time today...go get a snack and requeue after 5 minutes is up. If your DC timeout is 3 hours, thats the system saying your doing it too much. I dont need to see your timer, you dont need to see mine. Your arguement is under the assumption that people who DC constantly are treated the same way as people who run into an unavaoidable circumstance once in a blue moon... which isnt the case at all. The difference comes in play with the timers.

The game need a surrender option because i know if i get certain map with killer its not worth the time i invest in that match i will lose if the player are decent they dont need to be good just decent

How is that any different? Thats the same exact thing but calling it a different word. You want to call it quits because you dont like the map.

  • @lemonsway said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2403440#Comment_2403440

Until you can say why they DC'ed you can't tell they will ruin another match, that's the point. THeres so manny reasons a DC can happen and you're all going the DC'er is BAD SPORT, can't take a loss, bla bla bla... That's not true, that's not what i experience. I don't have manny Survivors DC on me and if i ever DC is because of game breaking performance issues, wich are not my fault.

If someone doesnt DC often and they just needed out of a match because something out of the norm happened... they really dont have to worry about the penalty. They'll have to deal with 5 minutes, big deal. If someone has a 3 hour DC penalty... they're the people who shouldnt be queueing up.

Myers is really outdated. People can point to stats, but I defy anyone to explain to me why he isn't weak from a mechanical perspective. I know what his stats are. What is it about Myers' kit that makes him strong? Outside of his ultra rares and most survivors being sub-optimal, nothing.

He has negligible chase utility, and a small TR only goes so far. His tier 3 output is completely dependent on survivor skill. He will not get downs with any regularity against high level players at safe tiles. He doesn't have the chase utility to do it. And if he loads up on chase perks, he can be gen slammed because he has no built in game delay.

I think to start, remove the stalking cap. If a survivor feeds him, so be it. Maybe up his speed in tier 3 from 117 to 120. Increase stalking movement speed slightly.

The TR allows for alot of sneaky hits while the faster vault speeds of T2 and T3 and the lunge range of T3 allows for hits that wouldve otherwise been wiffs. He might not look as flashy as other killers, but cranking up stats like that can still let him do alot. Those basic "M1 killer" mindgames are gonna be hit bread and butter, but the stat boost is gonna make him way more dangerous than a trapless trapper.

I don't get why DC penalties in a casual game. DbD isn't Competitive, there is no Competitive scene, it's all Player Made with external rulling. There's no Competitive DbD because the game isn't made to be competitive, it's a party game, at most BHVR will endorse some Tournaments as Marketing decisions and that's it, just like the Amateur Console only Japan Tournament, and even this was made with outside rulling because there's no competitive Balance or Rulling in DbD and never will be. The moment DbD becomes Competitive Half of the population won't like the game cause at least half of the population is the Casual players that BHVR wants.

If that's the case then why the DC penalties? DC penalties only make Queues worse, you're banning people from playing so what do you think happens next? More Wait time, less Players in Matchmaking, More Rank variety and Unfair matches because Matchmaking has to lower Queue times for those eligible for Queue.

Results of this? highly unfair matches, longer Queue times and guess what? MORE DC's because of this. Until DC penalties became a thing i had no problems with Queues unless i was playing at times where it would be expected to have low population. And before Cross play i could actually find Console Lobbies, now it's a goddamn MIRAGE to find a full console Lobby, it will take ages. But thanks to Crossplay it's easier to face Pc cheaters not to mention the obvious PC vs Console argument in terms of controls, especially for killer and not to mention how ######### Console optimization is and how manny problems Old Gen and NEW GEN consoles are having.

There's no way to keep DC penalties up with this much reasoning against it.

The only excuse people have in favor of DC bans is people being sore losers, which doesn't happen that often, more people are having performance issues or crashing rather than just going oh no they did a gen or oh no they hit me let me DC ... I'd rather lobby dodge if i suspect i'm facing something i won't like based on people profiles and who and what they are bringing. I'll even dodge shady survivors while i play survivor.

Your preventing people from queueing up and ruining another match. Everytime someone DCes, its abunch of wasted time for everyone involved. Doesnt have to be a competitive game for people to be pissed off that they had their time wasted and their match ruined. If everytime you play Monopoly with one of your friends, you find that they flip the board anytime they dont get the roll they want... Do you really wanna ask them to play anymore?

  • Find it funny how this is just one of those topics that basically the whole community can agree upon. Usually the community gets split on a whole "killer vs survivor" mindset, but in this case... Most ppl hate DCers, no matter which side does it. Ruins the match for the other 4 players.

The key to being a good killer is...

I use to make similar posts all the time whenever I got salty EGC messages. I got a good laugh out of the mental gymnastics some people go through to try to complain about how I played or the excuses on why they lost. I remember a guy complaining about being tunneled when he was the last one alive and I caught him trying to open the exit gates...

  • I dont really think anyone claims the difference of having 110% or 115% is what makes good mobility or not. Nobody claims that Piggy for example has good map mobility. Its more a matter of if a killer's power can assist with getting around the map or not, while being 110% ONTOP of having no mobility skill just makes it worse

dude they are all meta perks, I think you'd have to go back months and months to see all of these appear in the Shrine, I'm pretty sure this guy will have multiple level 40 Killers.

Just checked the shrine history, all 3 of those were available last month.

  • @JPA said:

The thing is you have a paid skin on Trapper, not to mention three tier 3 perks from other Killers including Bubba, Plague, and Clown. So it's not as if you are brand new to the game. Is rank 13 the highest you've ever been?

(I mean just playing devils advocate here. I know the matchmaking is broken where ranks are concerned, but this has been well known for a while now, your rank 13 is meaningless anyway as anyone who takes a break from the game for a while will drop down to those ranks, so you could just as easily play Survivors who are low ranked, but actually have hundreds if not thousands of hours of experience)

That doesnt mean much. I managed to get plenty of survivor perks unlocked from the shrine without ever playing survivor. As for the paid cosmetics... That OBVIOUSLY doesnt equate to skill.

Are you sure? It was like that when Plague released, but i heard they changed that. When was the last time you tested it?

It specifies basic attacks or special attacks that can damage survivors. Vile purge does not damage survivors, it simply works to apply a status effect that lowers the maximum health states. If you check out the wiki page for PWYF, it actually lists out every action for every killer and which ones do and do not use up tokens.

    Screenshot 2021-08-02 140206.png

This list has been updated with the latest killer, so gonna assume its pretty up to date on things. Sidenote, The twins might be a pretty good one for it since swapping back and forth from Charlotte and Victor ends the chase, and also Victor's hits do not use up your tokens. Could allow ya to injure with Victor, then get a sped up hit with Charlotte. Just a thought.

Theres a note for this list saying it was last tested July 11th, so unless theyve changed it since then... think we're good

Overcharge and dragon’s grip are made to counter gen tapping, you could run those.

Overcharge doesn't counter it since unlike normal skillchecks, Overcharge skillchecks don't instantly fail when you get off the Gen. You can hit it while running away.

  • @Chilli_man2400 said:

The best way to use PWYF is on m1 killers don’t use it on M2 killers. Only run this perk on m1 killers like

Run: Trapper, Wraith, Nurse, Hag, Myers, Pig, Freddy, Spirit, Ghostface, Oni, Blight

Dont run: Hillbilly, Huntress, Doctor?, Leatherface, Clown, Legion, Plague, Demogorgon, Deathslinger, Pyramid head, Twins, Trickster, Nemesis

Plague actually works great with it. Green puke doesn't use up stacks, so you can get ppl sick... then 1 shot with the M1.

  • If a killer's power is good enough for chases, it typically means they end up dedicating less perk slots for chase perks. This is why you dont typically see enduring or anything like that on Nurse. From there, you tack on a perk or 2 for tracking with the leftover slots going to...slowdown. If your seeing people with that many slowdown perks, could just be an indicator that they dont need additional perk help to find and down survivors.

I get what you mean, but you would only be able to play with people who have that exact selection. Someone who selects just Xbox and switch would have to wait around for other people who selected just xbox and switch. This would end up just spreading out the entire playerbase.

    Another random idea:

What if this perk made Basement hooks act like P-Head's cages? As in, when hooked, all hook-related don't activate.

So the perk's entire effect would JUST be to negate stuff like BT and DS? Feel like designing a perk for camping is generally a bad move for the health of the game. It would be pretty useless for anything but playing like a complete dick with a Bubba's basement loadout or something.

  • @AhoyWolf said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2395487#Comment_2395487

I think that's not that bad, maybe I could increase the stackable bloodpoints per Token, because you probably won't realisticly get all Survivors in the basement, or add another effect to it.

Feel like a better idea would be to change how you gain the tokens. If you get tokens by spending time away from the basement rather than relying on survivors to rescue their teammate that is dying faster than normal... feel like that would work out abit better. Set it up similar to how stakeout gains tokens.

  • @AhoyWolf said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2395446#Comment_2395446

So, maybe I could give it some secondary effect.

That's why I said it gives bloodpoints post trial, like BBQ.

You score tokens when survivors unhook, but the perk drives hooked survivors to be sacrificed faster. This would cause the perk to work against itself on the gaining tokens front since it would cause survivors to go into stage 2 or die before they can get unhooked. Not trying to be a pain, just pointing out the glaring flaw I'm seeing.

There is no cap, the more Survivors you hook and let other Survivors unhook safely, the more Bloodpoints you get.

There is a hardcap on every category of 8k. Even if someone scores 8K BPs before the perk kicks in and you get 10000 tokens on the perk... the perk wouldnt give you any more points than the maximum amount (8k BPs) and in this particular situation would give 0 BPs.

  • @AhoyWolf said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2395425#Comment_2395425

None, the more Survivors you hook, the more Bloodpoints you get, up to 300% more bloodpoints in that category if you manage to hook everybody in the basement and let them unhook safely.

There can only be at maximum 8 unhooks per game, meaning 200%. This is also completely pointless since at that point, you're sacrafice category wouldn't benefit THAT much. The more hooks you score, the closer you are to maxing out anyway and the less tokens you would need to do so.

  • @AhoyWolf said:

    MONSTROUS SHRINE

    • When a Survivor unhooks another Survivor from a basement hook while you're more than 32 metres away from that hooked Survivor, get a Token, for every Token get a 25% stackable bonus to bloodpoints in the Sacrifice category.
    • Awarded post Trial.

Just make it a bonus bloodpoint Perk for not camping.

That would at MOST offer an extra 4k BPs... assuming you dont cap out on that category anyway. Typically perks that offer a BP boost to a specific category do so as a secondary effect.

  • They're not gonna implement a system to segregate certain platforms from your queue. Doing so would spread the playerbase way too thin as it would open up WAY too many possibilities. You'd have to find enough players that matches your specific settings. If you really dont want to play with PC that much, can always just turn crossplay off.

  • Thats 150% when the knive goes through a survivor and manages to splash nearby, not 200%. Still pretty strong though.

Any attack that deals dmg causes the hitbox to disappear for abit. As someone else pointed out, Myer's stalking also does the same thing so Myers cant block ya and stalk ya dry.
