It's always at the beginning of the match in a risky spot. I actively avoid those areas once I know who it is lol

Yeah, that sort of stuff is perfectly reasonable to me. It's something that has some counterplay to it too depending on how he blocks them.

Could be worse. At least its just 1 smack before ya learn for the rest of the match rather than an instadown or something. Plague can continue bodyblocking even when puking on ya, or ya got Huntress who can do a closerange hatchet+melee to down ya pretty quick if she catches ya in a corner. I dont think I have to explain what would happen if someone like Bubba or Billy catches ya in a corner, lol.

I've been trapped for a while by Wraiths, but it's not very common. If they're in a chase and loop around and block a doorway or a pallet or something, that's different. But I think it's cheap to stealth in and block someone in a corner where they can't move for a hit imo. Not saying it's against the rules or anything, but it's a jerk move.

Once you know you're against a Wraith, you should really be actively avoiding getting in a corner to begin with. Usually at gens, theres multiple spots that you can work on them. Try to position yourself in a more defensive location so you'll be able to protect yourself if the killer shows up. This is really a good thing to think about for ANY killer really. If your against a Huntress for example, picking a spot where a wall can protect ya from long range hatchets would be wise for example as opposed to a spot next to an open doorway.

Bodyblocking as Wraith to setup for a hit though is pretty basic stuff. Its normal for them to try to get infront of you while cloaked in order to block off your route to a window or something, otherwise the power would be almost useless once a chase actually starts.

I realized that might've been the case after I wrote it. Just makes them seem like more of a jerk with that in mind lol

Who was a jerk? If a killer bodyblocked ya in time for a hit right after...thats fair game. If they held ya there for long periods of time...abit different. I dont see how being able to phase through the killer after they smack ya somehow makes them a jerk, let alone more so.

  • @Apollos said:

My first match against Wraith after his update was oppressive as hell. A no fun allowed kind of match. I'm not a fan of how he body blocks survivors into corners either. It's a really cheap tactic (but not the worst if he's willing to move after the first hit).

He can feel pretty unfair, but it all really depends on who's playing him and how.

You lose collision when you get hit, so even if the Wraith doesnt move after hitting you...you can run right through him. This is the same for all killers.

  • Whispers always has people who have no clue how to use it to pinpoint survivors and people who can use it to tell EXACTLY where you are. Weather Lethal Pursuer is better or not really just depends on what kind of person you are. I'm not gonna waste this time going on about how to properly utilize whispers, theres already posts for that that go indepth. Personally... Unless you plan on sniping someone from across the map, Whispers is better. Video is an example of what I mean by that.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-i1j2vE56zs

Sidenote...Whispers cant be countered while Lethal pursuer is leading more ppl to use distortion.

Do you think that Myers is TOO addon reliant? One of the reasons I only play specific Killers, is because the Killers I play don't really need addons to be capable.

Its in a weird spot for that. While I definitely always make sure to use addons on him... since so MANY of his addons are handy, I dont find myself hunting through bloodwebs for anything specific. With alot of killers that only have 3 or 4 addons that are handy, I would do just that and end up blowing through the majority of the BPs that I got the game before in an attempt to replace the 2 addons I used. With Myers... 1 bloodweb is enough usable addons to last me afew games.

Perhaps so. Thanks for the advice. Maybe I'll be able to try something refreshing for once as a Killer. I'll still keep hoping that he gets some kind of QoL, because I think he still needs something, even if it's a bit on the smaller side. I've been starving for something refreshing as a Killer, and the weak Killers aren't too fun to play most of the time.

I'm still of the mind that he's NOT weak... but I also have plenty of practice at juggling a team. If your just running after 1 person until your able to down them rather than bouncing around, your not taking advantage of his lower TR as much as you could. Could always try using Ruin+ surveillance or something to let ya know which gens are being worked on, then using monitor to sneak up and score hits. I was using rabbit and mirror shard alot when running those. Rabbit helps lower TR further while mirror shard is basically a pocket "I'm all ears" you activate while someone is about to go around the corner. Helps in mindgaming loops and such. I actually found myself using my stalk alot of times for THAT rather than trying to build T3 alot of the times and would ACCIDENTLY have a T3 ready to go.

Oh, yeah. I was thinking about videos I saw earlier today where somebody had to commonly go for other chases after being made the obsession. I don't remember the context, though. In your example, though, yes, that can definitely be strong. Perhaps I would need the extra practice with it. Sometimes, practicing different playstyles can be hard sometimes, though. Going from a Killer like Billy to a slow and tactical Killer like Myers and Ghostface can be difficult for me.

I'd say if you wanna try that kind of setup and playstyle... Try putting PWYF+Nemesis on Plague. Her power encourages getting as many ppl sick as you can, so that kind of swap mentality is really good. Her green puke also doesnt use up any PWYF stacks, so you'll be speeding around alot with those PWYF stacks. It's good practice for pressuring a survivor team as a whole rather than just focusing on 1 person at a time.

I always respect people that can use that tactic effectively. Even being red rank level in skill for most of the Killers I play, it never occurs to me when someone is using spine chill. I always just chalk it up to they start running when they hear my terror radius.

Monitor and rabbit equates to a TR of like 6 meters. Thats the distance a survivor can cover in 1.5 seconds. No... If I have that setup, or even just normal Monitor (8 meter TR), they arnt reacting to the TR most of the time. Either its a perk like spinechill alerting them, or they SAW me. If I'm utilizing walls and other such LOS blockers, they didnt see me. A survivor in the middle of a jungle gym isnt gonna see me, and if my nurses calling shows them running off without finishing a heal as I'm approaching, theres not many reasons why other than spinechill.

  • @Zet395 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2382570#Comment_2382570

I've seen a lot of cool builds with Nemesis included with Myers. I dunno, for some reason, I'm always afraid to use PWYF because I have to give up a chase, when that can very easily spell a loss, if you aren't able to capitalize on it fast enough.

Feel like you misunderstand something here... Yes, you are giving up what the game considers is a chase. Someone pallet stuns you, then runs off. While theyre running off... you stalk them for a crap ton until you get that PWYF token, then close distance again and restart chase unless theres someone else who's closer. Those tokens will let you clear pallets out hella fast since no one is gonna be able to get alot of loops out of a speedy killer. You're tomestone piece execution also doesnt use up a token, letting you speed up to someone...delete them...and speed away with 3 tokens still.

I definitely think that one of the main reasons a lot of people like the play Myers is for the scares and small TR. It's fun! When it works, anyway. Of course, Survivors can always use spine chill or something, or even object of obsession (even after its nerf and it's used as much anymore) can ruin that kind of playstyle.

If I have that kind of sneaky setup...I can generally tell when someone has spinechill. If you stop healing for no apparent reason, I'm just gonna start looking off to the side while approaching. Myers is a killer I've logged way too many hours into, so I dont typically get too messed up.

Ah. I completely forgot about the third. I had a feeling I'd be wrong; it's been a while since I've played Myers. I can't remember all of his addons. Thanks for refreshing my memory. Though still, I never really got the really good charges.

There are certain setups that ppl run PWYF on Myers anyway, so having Nemesis on him isnt a stretch. If your running his tomestone piece for example, can get those PWYF stacks off ANYONE using Nemesis while hitting T3 alot faster with the journal by making anyone you chase the obsession.

While the longer lunge does have its uses, and CAN help -- along with his faster vaulting -- I feel like in the grand scheme of things, these do very little to help in chase. It can make some quicker, yes, but not all of them.

Of course, but its aspects that definitely help and tend to go unsaid when ppl talk about him. Alot of ppl actually forget about the increased vaulting speed in T2 entirely. As for that 16 meter TR... That has put in ALOT of work for me. Shrinking that down further with Monitor and dead rabbit, then running Nurses... Its fun catching ppl off guard that is in the middle of a jungle gym and healing. Just poke around the corner and swing.

I'm glad we agree on something. Sometimes stalking takes too long, and to my knowledge, there's only 2(?) addons that help with that? And I NEVER get the green one in my bloodwebs. Maybe that's just my luck though.

Theres 3 actually. Judith's journal, memorial flower and J Myers memorial. Judith's journal only works against the obsession, but if you combo it with the perk Nemesis, you can get some REALLY fast stalking speeds. Heres a video Tofu put out awhile ago.

Yup, Myers have been overshadowed over the years of new killer releases in everything he does except how feaking cool the theme and execution of his power is. He could definetly use some tweaks to bring his power up to date so it competes better with killers that overshadow him in both snowball and stealth.

Altough if changes were beiing made I'd hope that most of his addons stay the same and only the useless ones get updated and purple tombstone gets nerfed but otherwise, they are probably the best addons in the whole game, drastically changing Michael's playstyle depending on which addons he uses.

Hopefully next midchapter will be completely focused on Halloween chapter, reworking Haddonfield ground up and bringing Myers up to 2021 standart too.

Feel like alot of his strength that hasnt really been copied by anyone is his base stats. He has the smallest TR in the game in both his T1 and T2 states, while gaining increased vaulting speeds in his T2 and T3. Also add in the super lunge in his T3. This lets him score hits you wouldnt normally be able to score if you were just running around trying to just be a "normal M1 killer".

  • While I'd say he could use afew tweeks here and there... overall, he's in pretty good spot. He has one of the best set of addons of any killer. By that, I mean most killers only have a handful of addons (3 or 4) that are worth using, but for Myers...I generally use about half of em. You're right though that some of em could be tweeked. Those movement speed while stalking addons are pretty useless since I'm pretty sure they only affect your speed when your holding down the stalk button, but dont ACTUALLY have someone infront of you being stalked.

As far as his basekit goes... I agree his stalking COULD be touched up abit. Having survivors regain the amount of stalk you could get from them throughout the trial so your not left without a power at endgame could be nice, and I would also suggest being able to gain stalk faster if you are stalking multiple people. If I sneak up on 3 ppl group healing or something... lemme stalk em and fill the meter faster than if I was only stalking 1 person. Even if its not 3X the speed, give it SOME benefit.

I know, I know. I'm not trying to diverge away from this conversation. I was just agreeing with you about how God awful it would be.

They'd need to buff his normal tier 1 speed in order to deal with some the crap the realm beyond maps has to offer

Normally his T1 speed doesnt bother me if your just doing a normal build where you dont STAY in T1. You typically arnt chasing anyone and just moving to various spots to stalk to hit T2. Its when using that addon that keeps you in T1 and therefore changes what your using it for that it becomes an issue. You USE to be able to get bloodlust in T1, so...theyve actually NERFED it. I dont see them undoing that.

I like playing around with scratched mirror and have tried doing it without map offerings (was out of the map offerings and had plenty of the addons) and its mostly just a giant pain in the ass that feels impossible on most maps.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2382095#Comment_2382095

My personal hated one is the stack hay bail that goes in a circle, it's short enough to be safe for the survivors who can also easily look over the bails to tell if you are gonna mind game

Those suck for even NORMAL killers, but were talking about someone moving at 105% movement speed, no bloodlust ever and still deals with larger than survivor hitboxes forcing him to loop SLIGHTLY larger than survivors. Even if the pallet isnt even there, its too much of a time sink to chase someone around loops where they can clearly see you.

  • Bubba would go with a meat lovers pizza. Just dont as too many questions on where or how he got the meat.

  • @DwarvenTavern said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2382082#Comment_2382082

That's fair, I despise Coldwind's loops so it would be very difficult for him

Those loops thats just like waste high junk with a pallet are basically godloops for a T1 Myers without PWYF stacks. If you can reach one of those, your safe.

  • Maybe if you bring PWYF and have some stacks to be able to chase anyone. As soon as someone reaches even a simple pallet loop otherwise, theres really no way of catching them. They would be able to loop ya like 15 times before dropping that pallet. This is why scratched mirror tends to rely on LOS blockers to score hits rather than chase AT ALL. You get a map like Blood lodge, Wreckers yard or Ormond (Maps that are lacking in LOS blockers) and the only way you'd be able to get ANYTHING done is if the survivors are just super unaware of their surroundings (Like a streamer who is constantly looking at their chat or something).

  • The only issue I see is Scratched mirror games pretty much REQUIRE certain maps. I always like those Myers games and would never see em again if map offerings got removed.

  • You always have people that get pissed about being beaten, especially when theyve already considered the game won, only to trip at the finish line. Can be a complete meme of a build and people will still get POed about falling for it.

Saw this video earlier and had a laugh at people complaining about the build.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f137Jjx-yDU

Obviously the perks arnt OP at all...but doesnt stop anyone from raging after falling for the build.

  • POV sliders have been restricted to certain perks since forever. If were gonna introduce them in the settings menu, then Shadowborn and M&A need to be redone. It also of course needs to have a reasonable limit.

  • @Pukenplag said:

Not OP if your team mates know what they are doing (not healing 4 mins after he got t3 as an example).

Myers doesn't need an addon pass, unlike what most people think. All he needs is Tobstone Piece (truly overpowered and unfair) and Vanity Mirror (m1 killer that can activate a 16m wall hack, after having to spend precious time to get it) changed and he's alright addon-wise.

Vanity mirror is garbage. He gives up being able to ever use T3 while also moving slower the whole match. That 16 meters is handy for mindgaming a loop, but the slower speed tends to mean less hits where you'd normally get them if you were your normal speed.

It’s a shame they didn’t setup other killers in this fashion. Legion would’ve been a good candidate with the multiple people aspect.

For sure. Myers is kind of a rarity in that I'd use MOST of his addons. The movement speed while stalking addons is pretty useless since it only affects your speed when your not staring at anyone, Vanity mirror could use a buff by removing at least the movement speed part and unless your paring it with the other UR, his Tomestone is basically useless... but the others are pretty good.

  • Only thing I'd change is allowing survivors to slowly regen stalk meter, allow for multistalk and dont slow down stalk gain to a crawl at the further distances. Overall, I consider him pretty fun to play as and I tend to do just fine as him.

  • @Ghouled_Mojo said:

I think I only ran the infinite Myers a couple of times. I prefer the M&A with a Dead Rabbit build.

Like others have stated, at higher games you won’t really see it much and it’s easier to work around. Starting off it’s difficult to manage. It will help develop your skills as a survivor though.

Myer's being able to swap between his addons for different gameplay is actually pretty nice. I'll do different builds depending on the addons for drastically different styles. Makes me feel like I'm able to actually use more of his addons rather than blowing through more bloodwebs trying to get my hands on afew of the "good" addons like I do with so many other killers.

  • @Kebek said:

Don't worry, at higher level of gameplay it's actually quite mediocre addon, not bad but nothing amazing either. For one, it takes a while to charge, all that time you're not pressuring survivors and a good looper can deny you LOS for a while.

And once you actually do get it, the main thing that changes is that you become plague without ability of cleasing (which people don't do vs her anyway).

Ofc vs normal solo teams, you'll win with anything be it this or perkless Legion. But when faced with players who know how to loop well and don't waste time like solos do, you'll see that this addon is nothing special.

Always hate when people make this comparison... Myers gets more than just 1 shotting. He has faster vault speed than normal during his T2, and that gets kicked up even more along with a super lunge during T3. Ignoring that by saying "he's just like Plague" is just being dishonest. Not making any arguments about balance or anything, just saying Myers T3 is a whole lot more than just 1 shotting.

  • The killer was designed with slugging in mind. Swapping back and forth between victor and charlotte to hook after EVERY down is a huge time sink. You have to get more dmg in with Victor to apply proper pressure. If you can get extra hits in with Victor after downing someone...do that. In the amount of time it would take to cross the map as Charlotte to find a downed survivor, you're giving the 3 other survivors WAY too much free time to pump out gens.

  • Only after realizing the truth...that there IS no bomb...

  • @ukenicky said:

There are also Rift challenges that tell Survivors to unhook in the Killers Terror Radius albeit with BT but still that right there is what is promoting hook diving most of the time.

Or challenges like unhook x amount of people and naturally people try to get these done in as few trials as possible. I genuinely blame BHVR for encouraging a lot of these unhealthy behaviors most of the time with the Rift. It's just no bueno

For sure, im not denying that. Thats why I had brought up earlier that stuff like blowing through pallets is currently encouraged by the BP system. A player tossing 5 pallets in 1 minute scores WAY more points than a person who makes 1 pallet last 5 minutes, where it SHOULD be the other way around.

I did abit of a test with Bubba right before the Ruin change in which I'd openly facecamp a survivor with a charged chainsaw directly infront of them. I remember one game in particular where the first survivor DID have kindred, but I'd still see all 3 teammates circling nearby waiting for an opening that obviously was never going to happen. I even gave them a little head nod acknowledging that I see them. Ended up with a 4k with either 1 or no gens done...cant remember.

The examples they listed were all how survivors get points, and survivors have a harder time getting points in general, so I was moreso addressing that, not trying to make surv vs killer thing.

There are ways to encourage better gameplay without punishment (bbq encouraging not hook camping with auras, BT encouraging more altruism, etc)

However I do agree with your idea of alternative ways to get bps.

Unfortunately atm, some of the ways survivors are awarded BPs encourages bad plays. You'll have survivors bumrush an unhook so they can get those juicy points before teammates. As long as you have BT, the unhooked survivor is bound to survived long enough for that "safe unhook" bonus to pop up, even if you unhook right infront of the killer and they get tunneled down.

Would be nice to see actual smart plays getting more BPs. Maybe for unhooks, you'd score more points if the target avoids being hit (even with BT) or avoids entering chase for X seconds after unhook. This could promote ppl waiting for the killer to walk away before attempting an unhook so the rescued survivor has a chance to actually recover. If getting BPs is your objective, instant-unhooking wouldnt be the most rewarding way to gain them.

Im just spitballing here... You're welcome to throw in afew thoughts.

  • @scenekiller said:

Survivors already have a hard time getting bps compared to killers, and it’s not like this affects killer gameplay anyway, so this is just a bad take overall

I didnt really see this as a survivor vs killer thing. While some of the examples might be abit dumb, I know I would hate to findout that every pallet on the map has been used up by someone who ran to one after another just to camp them and throw them down. The idea that someone who camps a pallet gets the same amount of BPs as someone who makes that pallet last is kind of annoying.

Would be nice to see alternative ways to earn BPs that doesnt promote farming your teammates or wasting as many resources on the map as humanly possible before your teammates have a chance to use them. Maybe a palletstun would be worth more points depending on how long you've been in a chase, this way the guy who makes 1 pallet last 5 minutes would get more BPs than the guy who chucked 5 pallets in 1 minute.

  • I feel like even if it IS fitting with his lore and theme... Survivors might feel abit upset if the killer they go against can blast through the map with a gattling gun.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hmSxy2JKTPw

Also wanna point out how he has enduring lvl 9000 since he doesnt even flinch when they unload into him. Those pallets though...

  • Id say Billy, but Ive also seen survivor teams get snowballed by Trapper's traps.

  • People dont really leave a gen to wander around the map hoping for an uninfected gen. They're likely to just wait afew seconds for the gen to return to normal, or just suck it up and get infected.

    As far as perks go...

infectious fright, nemesis, PWYF and BBQ.

nemesis+PWYF will make you REALLY dangerous if they wanna stay infected, since you'll be running around 1 shotting ppl with the increased speed with snowball potential with infectious fright. If they decide to cleanse instead...then you can snowball using red puke and infectious fright. This combo also tends to result in clearing out pallets SUPER quickly, resulting in deadzones. Just try to avoid getting tunnelvision on one person and infect as many as ya can.

I like that idea but it would make basement saves impossible.

    Here is my tweak:

Activates whenever a survivor enters the basement (no proximity requirement). As soon as the perk activates windows and vaults of the shack are blocked by the entity for 40 seconds. Territorial Imparitive can only be activated every 80 seconds.

When basement isn't in shack then the perk is half useless but that would be the gamble.

You're overlooking maps that dont have a shack.

  • That would make basement saves impossible. If you wanna make it so basement hooks cause broken status effect for X seconds after unhook or some other status effect...sure, but trapping survivors in the basement over and over is too much.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/266387/which-killer-do-you-think-has-the-most-frequently-sweaty-players

You know I guess I am starting to wonder why this community points out the term sweats as often as it does. Idk if I know the proper sweats term. But I imagine it isn't much different from try hards? I mean even that terms to me is off putting. Why do we categorize sweats and try hards in a negative connotation? I mean what's wrong with trying your outmost best to win a match?

But to answer your question I would imagine this is an easy answer. It'd be your killers that are meta that are filled with "sweats"

Can you imagine if someone went up to any other top athlete and told them they were a sweat. Like #########? Okay so I did amazing? Thanks?

The term “sweat” has been used at large by Fortnite streamers to talk about players who use complex and difficult strategies to take down opposing players even when they wouldn't need to. ... “Sweat” literally means that after a fight, the player was surely trying so hard to make a flashy play that they're sweating

In SOME gaming cases, I can understand it abit. I remember playing COD against people who were pros at spawnkilling. They'd just plant a sentry gun next to a spawn, or would have their recticle aimed at the spawn they KNEW you'd appear at so you'd die before you can even take a step...then again 10 seconds later when you respawn. This is a tactic thats LEGITAMATELY unfair.

You also have cases where someone will go out of their way to pick on newbies. Dark Souls 1 would have people purposefully not lvl up their character and instead boost up their gear so they could invade the world of people who JUST STARTED. You have other people who will derank in games that have matchmaking systems, so they can get those easy kills against players who cant walk forward without looking up.

Fortunately in todays world where we have the internet allowing devs to hotfix and apply balance changes where need be...alot of issues can get fixed. That doesnt mean you wont EVER run into some broken stuff though. Playing a fighting game where characters have combos that are basically death sentences sucks for example. The ease a Bayonetta could put a full opponent out of bounds or the Ice climbers grab that was unbreakable in Super smash bros...was enough to piss anyone off.

DBD nowdays though...doesnt really have much like that. Theres some problem areas that show up with each update...but they're typically fixed. If theres a safe spot that a survivor can squeeze into or climb onto, its not gonna last for THAT long.

I remember the time Otz posted a video about him avoiding a BT back when BT was based on TR as a T2 Myers with Furtive Chase. Probably the only time anyone has ever gotten real value from the lower TR in chase.

I tried it out on old Freddy back in the day. Paintbrush on old Freddy would lower your TR, and since he could see the auras of all sleeping survivors outside his TR... gave me wallhacks on alot of junglegyms once you get those stacks. Thats one of the few cases where smaller TR actually mattered beyond the initial approach, and they reworked Freddy soon after anyway.
