  • One person gave up their addon's and offering AND bloodpoints, AND might get punished (depending on how frequently they've done it) so their friend could escape.

That some rock-bottom IQ there. If they lost another point, they may hit oil.

No, I only say "bias" when I see bias. Has nothing to do with disagreeing. Now move on with your bias somewhere else, thanks.

Ok. If I'm not biased for disagreeing, AND I'm giving you legitimate reasons for White Ward staying as it is..

    Why am I biased?

@Locker_Monster hear me out before you open your mouth im not talking about game balance im talking about them needing to update the coding and glitches we have enough killers and survivors so we need them to focus on game coding then the dlc's.

Again. By saying this, you're assuming that making DLC means less people are working on fixing the game. Or that more DLC means slower bugfixes.

By 'focus' you have to mean 'put more people on the job of'. That how companies focus.

But there are people in BHVR that do that exact job. They don't work on DLC and bugfix in their spare time. Their job is. to. bugfix.

So they don't need to 'focus' because they already DO THAT. That's what I'm saying; they have a group of people who's job it is to bugfix.

Unless you have some meaning for 'focus' I don't know.

  • @Jed_Olsen said:

Make them wear like a dunce hat or something so other survivors can know they're playing with a baby

  • @LazyGhost25 said:

@Locker_Monster ik that i dont have a problem with that its just they need to put the game first instead of actually putting constant dlc's in like just focus on the game itself.

Again; they have a group that DOES focus on balance.

Would you want them to take people off of thinking up Killers to help perfect balance? because those people aren't paid to perfect balance. They may not be as good at it.

The whole point is that pumping out DLC does not mean less people are working on game balance, so what do you mean by 'focus'?

  • Because, like any game development company, you..what's the term? You put people in squads..Blocks.

Squad 1: Works on game balance.

Squad 2: Works on new Killer ideas. Works with Squads 3, & 4

    Squad 3: New Survivor ideas.

Squad 4: New Perks for Survivors & Killers, based on who that Killer is/what chapter the Survivor is in.

    Etc, etc.

Basically, just because some of the crew is making new stuff does not mean people are being pulled away from game balance. Everyone has what they do, because it helps everything run smoother.

Free items? It's an item you earned + wasted an offering to protect. Your bias is heavy

Will you STOP with the 'bias' thing?

Every time someone disagrees with you, you say 'bias!' like it's a magical 'I win!' comment.

YOU want an item that works fine changed to favor YOUR style of play (Survivors) so YOU can keep items you'd normally lose, even if YOU put it down/a Killer uses Franklin's on YOU.

That's basically being pretty biased, dude. 'Favor what I play' with a pretty loudly not-said 'Because I play it'.

Why do I say that's unsaid? Because there's no valid reason, balance-wise, to want to change White Ward. The only reason you want to change it is because you want to keep your items.

IE: You want it changed to favor YOU. Which is BIASED.

  • All the perk icons were updated Aug 4th, but nothing new was added. Weird

  • Bah, could be a Freddy icon I just never noticed, now that I've had caffeine.

  • I could not find that image in any icon folder.

I DID find a 'Sleep Penalty' in the StatusEffects folder, though.

I rather agree with the proposal to slightly enlarge the key and make it slightly shiny.

And also agree with the impossibility of the killer to see the items of the survivors in the lobby. Nothing justifies that, the survivors do not see anything of the killer, there is no reason for the killer to be encouraged to use Franklin's Demise for example or to adopt a particular behavior upstream.

Not everything has to be a 1:1 give/take ratio.

Just because Killers can see Survivor items, does not mean it's unfair that Survivors can't see Killer addons. One of the ways the Entity stacks the fight in Killer's favor is that the Killers can see what Survivors are bringing in, but Survivors have no idea who they are going against.

I really wish people would stop with 'If Killers have x, Survivors must have y or its unfair'. That's not quite what 'game balance' means.

  • No. BT is fine. I'd be quite upset if I could not pick my target because both were rewarded with the same thing.

Imagine if 4 people ran your new Borrowed Time. That's 4 times I can't down EITHER person at the hook, even if I was not camping & just running back on a good guess/I saw them.

  • I played that BDO a year or two ago. It was cluttered, spammy, full of bots, required TONS of microtransactions, and every story quest was basically solo.

It was a single player MMO, story-wise and a bot farm in every other regard.

  • This kind of IS how the Forums work:

    Nurse will get looked at.

Survivors will decide if she's been 'nerfed enough'

          If no:

                Keep complaining

         If yes:

    Target Spirit next.

    Spirit will get looked at.

Survivors will decide if the nerfs are enough, etc.

    If yes: Target Billy next.

  • I love how it's not 'Maybe we're biased for wanting the Devs to alter the game so we keep our items, even if we put them down. Which the war in no way even HINTS at. Rework the item for us! CATER TO US!'.

It's 'You're biased if you don't agree with us'.

Sorry. I didn't say "only" killers. For the purposes of this post, I'm talking about killers specifically. I understand that survivors can be easily pissed off as well.

    Sorry.

On these forums, it gets too easy to expect an 'Us vs Them' mentality.

  • Yeah. This makes it pretty balanced & prevents standoffs:

Killer gets there first? Close the hatch.

Survivor is there first? You will get out.

  • Honestly, I think people who habitually DC (To the point of getting a month ban) should return to special skins fored onto on EVERY Survivor & Killer that they play that show the DC icon.

Just a big DC icon on shirts and vests and Trappers fishing waders, etc.

(I'm only partially kidding. This is funny as heck in my head)

  • You say that like it's only Killers.

I once downed someone; First find of the match. I chased them & downed them because

    1) No gens were popping

    2) I did not see anyone else.

They DC'd almost the SECOND they went into Dying state. Like, they must have had a friend ready to pull the plug for them.

They found my steam account, added me, and proceeded to claim they'd get me steam banned, and that I was tunneling, a tryhard, sweaty, a fat nolife out to ruin people's fun. It was rapid fire IM's over the course of 10 minutes while I just cackled.

Both sides can be toxic jerks, not just Killers.

While that is true, bans aren’t permanent 100% of the time. Likely it’s 1 day, then 2 then 1 week etc.

legacy could be combined with one of these lower tier bans to really knock some sense in them

The people who DC don't HAVE sense.

You know how some people call some builds 'tryhards'?

I call DC'ers 'Cryhards', because they'd rather flip the table and forfeit ALL BLOODPOINTS instead of lose and get 5-10k BP.

  • What I find annoying is that I, as the KILLER, can't decide not to ingest the corruption. Either Survivors or the game itself control my power more than I do.

If I want to prevent Survivors from healing after awhile, so I can down them?

TOO BAD! Once the last fountain is corrupted, you're given the Corrupt Purge, you're FORCED to use it, and all the fountains revert. Screw you for trying to be tactical, Killer. The Survivors would not like that, so you can't do it.

  • Killers are supposed to be the power role. If anything, Killers should not need perks to catch Survivors; their power should be enough to make them a threat.

  • @artist said:

she has no counter play without perks, they shouldn't be a requirement to outplay a killer.

If you could beat Killers without perks, perks would make Survivors outright unkillable. This is incredibly narrow thinking, balance-wise.

The pistol does have a cooldown. Get better at dodging bullets.

If you do not understand, I do not consider Billy separately. A situation where several killers are clearly stronger than others is a bad balance. They should be approximately equal in strength. All.

Pistols do have a cooldown; reloading. ;)

And yes, all Killers SHOULD be equal, but that does not mean they all need to have 4 second cooldowns on their abilities so you can easily get away. We could make them all stronger, too.

Also; billy has cooldowns on missing & on hitting an object. Asking for longer cooldowns would turn him into an even easier-to-loop Killer.

I mean, I guess that's what you are asking for; easy to beat Killers.

  • @AntiJelly said:

    @Locker_Monster

    Here's the thing.

You're thinking about top level play only from a survivor's perspective.

When I say top level play, I mean the best of the best survivors AND killers.

And the best of the best Spirit can wipe the floor with survivors.

The best Nurses can predict every survivor movement, the best Spirits can do the same, and guarantee free hits all the time, and the best Hillbillies know precisely how to curve around obstacles and get insane hits. Have you seen how the best Huntresses play? It's crazy.

Just because other killers are weak and can't apply pressure and "the only way to play at rank one is to play the top 4!!!11" doesn't mean they're immune to critical analysis and possibly nerfs.

And I'm gonna be honest, all of the top four killers have some stupid crazy things they can do at top level play. And those things probably deserve to be nerfed. Hillbilly's curve. Huntresses' hitboxes. Nurse and Spirits minimal counterplay.

The point is that people would rather destroy viable Killers so Survivors have an easier game, instead of making more Killers viable & balancing Survivor perks around that.

It's what I'm scared of; every Killer turning into a loopable, pallet-eating M1 Killer because most Survivors don't want to learn to play against Ghostface & then learn how to counter Nurse. They just want to win with minimal effort while slotting the same 4 perks for every Killer encounter, and nerfs encourage that.

  • @AntiJelly said:

People want a nerf to Spirit because at top level play she becomes a very powerful killer with little to no counterplay.

A good Spirit can almost always guarantee a hit because Spirit still has collision while phasing. This, and the fact that even with Spirit's phase vacuum noise, you have almost no idea where she's coming from. Her footsteps are near silent.

Here's the problem; people want to nerf TOP LEVEL PLAY.

They literally would rather beat Killers into easy-mode instead of getting good.

The moment a Killer is hard to beat? Come ask for nerfs! I'm not saying they always get them, but they ask!

The Nurse? Don't learn to juke & mindgame; ask for nerfs!

The Spirit? Don't learn to look for moving grass, don't keep your scratch  marks in mind, and don't fall for her standing still! Ask for nerfs!

Hillbilly? Don't learn to avoid open spaces. Don't learn to keep an eye out for a chainsaw sprint! Ask. For. nerfs.

My idea doesn't nerf Franklins since its still dropping the item. Read carefully or leave your bias at home.

Let me put it another way.

If you are not holding an item at the moment of death, White Ward does not protect it. It does not matter WHY you dropped the item.

There's no reason to change it otherwise. I'm not being biased; you're literally asking for the devs to change the game to let you keep your item just because you want it.

If you used it up, or you dropped it, or the Killer made you drop it, or you don't have it in your hand when you escape/die; White Ward does not let you keep it.

  • Sorry; HAGS & Trappers*

  • This screams of 'Change it just because we want it'

White Ward protects your item from death only, only if you were carrying an item.

Not if the item was on the ground. Only if it's in your hand.

And no, Franklin's should not be nerfed so you don't drop your item.

And yes; it would be a nerf. Survivors have to spend time getting that item back. Hacks & Trappers can trap it. It could be a toolkit with BNP or a medkit with an inta-heal. Changing Franklin's to not drop it would just be an unneeded nerf.

  • Franklin's does not need a counter from White Ward.

Once the item is on the ground, it is no longer 'yours'. So White Ward no longer protects it.

Hell, I think you could go in with a Brown Medkit, loot a Purple Flashlight & if you die with the Flashlight in your hand; you keep it.

White ward only protects the item you are holding at the time of death. Nothing more. it does not, and should not, counter Franklin's Demise.

  • I'm of the opinion that Survivors should NOT control a Killer's power.

Killer is supposed to be the power role, but the Survivor has the power to turn his ability off?

Hard to be scary when someone with a 360 degree see-everywhere camera can negate you around a corner while staying hidden.

  • @SunderMun said:

Allowing BT to work against zero terror radius face camping at FIVE METERS is not punishing a camper, but allowing a chance at counterplay that isn't just 'let the survivor die because we're too lazy to come up with a solution to this BS'

It's only 'BS' because you don't like it.

It's not a bug, glitch, or abuse of mechanics.

It requires a Killer to give up a perk slot AND gen pressure AND 3 other kills for ONE KILL.

And if you're running in against a Killer clearly FIVE METERS away, that's your fault. Not the Killers, and not the games.

Why should the Killer get punished for YOU wanting to make a bad play?

He used your friend as bait to go Survivor Fishing, and you bit. Stop acting like this is somehow not completely in your control to avoid.

  • @Peanits said:

Not being able to down someone with Feral Frenzy is very much so intentional. Since you can vault pallets and windows like a survivor, being able to down them with Feral Frenzy as well was (and always will be, as long as it's possible) overkill. It turned chases into wait for power > use power > repeat- there was no skill involved, you didn't need to outplay the other person, you just ran out the clock until you got a guaranteed down.

Blood and scratch marks not appearing is also very intentional. Since your power is non-lethal, the intent is to show you people who don't have deep wounds, not those that do. Using your power against someone who is already injured is silly, you cannot down them with your power.

It's not likely that the Legion will receive a full rework. A rework would require completely changing their power (like Freddy). We do have some changes we'd like to make, but there is no exact date for them just yet. We'll squeeze them in once we can.

Well, thank you for replying :)

I guess rework was the wrong word or too strong. I did not mean, like, changing his power alltogether. ..Rebalance? Rebalance seems like the right word.

But you answered, and thank you again for that.

I'm still worried that his power harms itself more than it helps Legion. More specifically: losing power gauge on a normal attack. This just seems very silly. No other killer loses power gauge on an attack. The closest is GhostFace losing stealth & needing to wait for a recharge, but he does not lose the gauge if he's not using it.

It's like, Legion has to pick: Power, or kill? Most Killers use their power TO kill. Legion has to pick instead. And since his power can't incap on it's own, the Deep Wounds pauses in the killers TR (or in a chase? One of these), and won't incap if they are actively healing, so you can't apply pressure to make it work, AND the stun cooldown is too punishing to just use it as a speed boost..

It all just adds up to 'Just M1; you lose his power if you attack, but his power ain't worth it'

Well, I should rephrase; His power CAN be useful but it's VERY addon dependent. If you Mangle someone, Mending takes longer, right? That slows down Gen speeds..Except you've slowed down your killing (trading an incap for a Deep Wound), so even that's more of an even trade..

I don't know. We will have to wait and see. I love the aesthetic of Legion; 4 people in one body. I'm just lukeworm on their power.

Ok so if the hexs move around the map to other dull totems that's great and all. But the issue with it is people will complain even more because now not only do you clense it once in theroy where it moves you now have to clean it 5 times. And people don't even take the time to do one now.

Oh! No, if you cleanse the Lit Totem, the Hex is gone.

It only bounces if it has not been cleansed.

  • Depends.

If they said 'We put Peter Dinklage in this game'...

Not 'A character voiced by Peter Dinklage' but just Peter Dinklage himself, they could add anything they wanted after that. :D

  • @Baphomett said:

True, but I've never played a match without at least one dull totem next to a gen. It might work in the killer's favor once in a while, but the vast majority of the time it would not.

Maybe with a Totem location rework? Would it work then?

  • @Baphomett said:

All I'm thinking is that no one will ever have to find a totem again, just leave an easily accessible dull totem around while you work gems, etc. When it lights up, buh-bye hex.

This basically nerfs ruin into the ground, along with all other hexes that aren't NOED.

Except then you have to keep looking at that dull totem.

What if no gens are near it? You waste time going back to it.

What if you messed up & now it's in a 3-gen patrol? No way to clear it now!

  • @switch said:

He is overpowered. Take a look at all killers in the game, clown has to reload his bottles, spirit has to wait for her power, ghostface has to wait for his power, huntress has finite amount of hatches, legion has to wait for his power.

Hillbilly has no cooldown on his power, and no 2 seconds its not cooldown, with uncommon addon you get that down to 0.

Having 1-shot the whole game, easy to land, and insane mobility is too good,

I think they shouldn't look into spirit, and instead remove billy's 1-shot, be is by far superior to any other killer besides nurse.

It's nowhere near easy to land.

Juke sideways at the right time and Billy runs right past you.

Stay near small objects and his hitbox might hit them instead.

Keep out of long, clear lanes and he can't run at you for very long.

His turning sucks and he can't spin in place like a melee hit.

    Billy is fine.

Last time I remember they lose their memories. Though could be wrong or mistaken

    @Peanits Lore question!

Do Survivors remember each time they die/escape, or do they forget?

I love lore, so I'm really curious to know!

  • Addendum: I think one person even says 'Every time we die, we just wake up next to the accursed campfire and wait to try again! And if we escape, we ALSO wake up next to the campfire!'

And other things that hint that they remember every time?

    I could be wrong.

You have to remember that in the lore, survivors memories are wiped after every trial. So they would never really learn

Really? I thought they learned and remembered? Like, the whole point was to lose hope, which means they have to remember death after death after death.

Like, the Entity feeds on the hope of escaping, but eventually Survivors lose all hope and get discarded/become Killers, because they realize they can never escape.

  • Just add it into the Tutorial & make a loading screen tooltip.

'A Survivor takes 60 seconds to go from Hanging on the Hook to Struggling. And another 60 seconds to go from Struggling to Dead. It takes 1 Survivors 80 seconds to repair 1 generator. Camping a hooked Survivor is not an efficient way to please the Entity!'
