“Where’s Claudette? All I see is a floating flashlight.”

'Find Claudette, Dwight, Meg, AND the Flashlight, Toolkit, & Medic kit on every page!'

...I'd buy the hell out of a DBD-themed Where's Waldo parody book..

  • Blendette! It's like playing a 'For Keeps' version of 'Where's Waldo?'

  • I had a Dwight today:

He kept spamming a window ledge at the start of the map, refused to run when I came up (just kind of..meandered), when when I downed him, he DC'd.

The other 3 players were trollers; 99% hooks, breaking them when I was carrying someone. Sprint Bursting up to try Flashlighting me on every pickup. Etc. I got all 3 dead and one whined about my internet..even though my 'net is very much fine.

  • ...Can we kill Spike? ☺️

  • @joker7997 said:

Ya I dont really buy it at all, youre paying for electricity, water, food, im sure youve got a cell phone and a car, mortgage/rent unless youre very young (hopefully). You pay for all that stuff somehow. There is virtually noone in this county that cant come up with $5.

    I can't unless I plan ahead. :P

When I say 'I'm a broke schmuck trying my best to stream for bits', I mean that. :D

All my money goes into rent/electricity/food. Stream dosh is how I buy games or DLC.

  • @joker7997 said:

Lol who are these people that complain about $5 or $10? If you are so destitute that you can't find $10 to throw away on something, how do you own a television and console, or pc capable of playing dbd? Skip a meal at McDonalds and there you go, free stranger things content. Get a grip.

As someone who's usually eating 2 bowls a cereal a day because I'm flat broke..It's not always that easy.

Sometimes the gear is a gift (mine was so I could stream games & make some money). Sometimes people just don't HAVE the money after bills.

That said; getting pissed off over extra content that MIGHT increase the price without knowing WHAT that price increase is is very, VERY silly.

You seem to be missing the point. We didn't ask for this extra survivor. It was just added to the chapter. Because of this, anyone who didn't want this extra survivor will now have to pay a higher price for the chapter. As I've said before, we could have easily done without one of them and just had one survivor and one killer as we've done previously. But clearly you didn't read the other posts and I refuse to continue discussing with someone so ignorant such as yourself.

..Do you call Kellogg's and scream you did not ask for marshmallows in your lucky charms?

It's pretty ignorant to get angry that the devs went above and beyond for us.

'Excuse me, waiter! I did not ASK for this meal deal where I get a burger, fry AND cookie! Take away the cookie! What? Just don't buy the meal deal? NONSENSE!'

Not this time buddy. Shards can't be used to unlock licensed killers. And that's right, this is licensed!

    Boo-hoo?

You're preemptively unhappy that DLC with MORE CONTENT will probably cost more to buy.

It takes more money to make that content, so it makes sense it would cost more. But here you are trying to rain on everyone's parade because we're getting more content than normal.

What's next? getting angry that they won't give away content for free?

It's like going to a car dealership and going 'I want this new 2019 Subaru but it COSTS MORE than my 5 year old car! Why!?'

Considering they raised the price on the Pig's recent cosmetics I think it's okay for me to jump the shark. At the end of the day, they are after money.

...No carp? It's a company. Companies only exist so long as they make money.

If BHVR stopped making money, thy'd do this silly little thing that kills companies; go bankrupt.

You see, humans need food to continue to exist. Companies need money like we need food. Without money, they can't pay the people who work there, those people can't make new DLC/fix bugs/keep the servers running.

And then the company starves and dies.

The PEOPLE in the company can love the fans. And I'm sure most of BHVR does enjoy our feedback & ideas. But the COMPANY as a whole needs money.

    ..Companies are quirky like that.

Human's can't ONLY live off social interaction, and companies can't ONLY live off the good vibes of their playerbase.

So yeah; they're in it for the money, from one standpoint.

And yeah; the PEOPLE are in it to make content we enjoy.

But the money is just a hair more important, because without money, they can't make the content we enjoy. Or feed themselves. Or keep the servers up.

  • Once again: Killers have to be 'humanoid'. 2 arms, 2 legs, 1 torso, 1 head.

They said 'no non-humanoid', not 'no nonhumans'

  • @Crazewtboy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/638537#Comment_638537

Typically if I buy something, I buy the whole chapter. But this might be the first time that changes. I refuse to pay a higher price because of an extra survivor. However, I'm not buying anything until I see some gameplay.

This DLC is going to encourage me to do a 'First Look' when he comes out on the PTB for my youtube channel.

Not that I'm funny or anything; I do way better with twitch chat (and even that's debatable)..but I want to record my first views as someone who's never watched the show.

I would like a perk that allows you to "see" ripples of sound on the screen or maybe that could be a killers power. By seeing sound, I mean soundwaves on the screen.

Kind of like Daredevil (From the movie)? Only without blacking out everything else.

  • What we need is a flat regression on the initial kick. 5-10%

That way, Survivors meep-meeping through to stop regression do more harm than good, since we can kick it for another 5-10% damage.

  • @avilmask said:

Don't know about improved abilities. In the series demogorgon didn't even have a better perception than usual. Most likely some penalties to survs. Also Upside-Down doesn't even have to be there, because of how demogorgons was in 2nd season.

Fair enough. I need to watch the show. :)

  • I'm hoping the Upside-Down just appears at random.

Like, as you running through the map, you will step through a portal you cannot see into the Upside-Down, which changes how the map looks to you (making it darker or something) until you exit again.

Like, you cannot SEE these portals. The map looks normal until you step on a tile, then the entire map looks different until you step back off.

While in the Upside-Down tiles, the Demogorgon has improved powers as opposed too if he's on a normal Entity tile.

Nah...I don't care what it does...it's "Bloodstench" or bust.

I was not going to steal someone else's naming idea. :P

Heck, @AshleyWB and my perks actually work well together! :D

  • How about:

    Blood Scent:

When you look at a pool of blood for 4/3/2 seconds, you get the 'scent' of the Survivor it's from. You can only have 1 Survivor 'Scented' at a time. When this Survivor is within your Terror Radius, you will see their Aura every 20/15/10 seconds for 2/3/4 seconds.

You will lose the Survivors 'Scent' if they are healed or hooked.

(As usual: Numbers are for example and can be changed)

  • @Peanits said:

It's not being looking into at the moment. The idea is that you would chase the survivor away first and then kick it, not kick it and then chase them away.

I'm just referring to the 1-frame animation, not the events that lead to it being kicked or repaired, but fair enough.

    Thank you for responding! :)

  • Don't be a downer.

I doubt one Survivor is going to tack on $5, but if you don't like it, don't buy it. I'm hyped, and I've never even seen the show.

  • @Peanits Not trying to call you out; I just see you as a more frequent dev on here, so I remember your name.

Can you, or another dev, clarify:

Is 1-frame gen animations something that was overlooked?

Regressing gens takes 2 seconds, but stopping a Regression can take 1/60th of a second. This does not allow any sort of chase pressure or risk. A Survivor being chased can tap the gen 2 times faster than the blink of an eye.

    If so:

Will it be looked at in the future?

I'm not asking for a time frame. I'm not asking for results. I know the Stranger Things DLC is out some time next month, and they still have to hit the PTB between now and then. Full plates are full.

I just want to know that devs are, at the least, aware of this, and if it's allowed, or if it will be addressed later on.

I hope you understand that it's frustrating in my mind to find what seems to be a very abuseable oversight, make a thread on it, and then see devs post in 6 or 7 other threads while this one seems almost ignored. That's the only reason I at'd you.

Anyways, cheers with the Stranger Things DLC! I'll be buying it when it releases; I've not seen the show but the Demogorgon looks really neat, and it will be fun to have a killer with a profile so clearly inhuman! :)

  • Oh, I agree. I just figured I'd clarify since allot of people seem to think Demogorgon = Breaking the 'no nonhumans' rule.

  • They said they won't make killers that 'are not humanoid'

Demogorgon is 'humanoid'; he has 1 head, 2 arms, 2 legs, and a torso & walks on 2 legs.

  • Come on, devs.

Can we get a comment on if a 1 frame tap is actually allowed? Or is it an oversight? Will it be looked at? Changed?

Don't go radio silent on this, please.

  • @TR_stonez said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/637294#Comment_637294

Yeah I do, do it because its allowed there is no rule against it either kick it again or chase me away up to you your the killer

It's not against the rules but it's clearly an oversight that Survivors can do this without stopping in a dead sprint. How is that hard to understand? What is so hard to understand about 'Survivors are able to stop a gen regress without ever triggering the crouching animation'?

    @Atrushan88 said:

I don't see a problem with gen tapping. Gen regression can actually help quite a bit on a killer if only one person is working on that gen and everyone else is far away on another gen, and honestly, if you were to be forced to stop for longer, the survival percent(which I heard last was already well below 50%) would be even lower. I'm not sure there's a need to be nerfing survivors right now. Also, from my experience, when you do tap a gen, your character still stops and doesn't begin running immediately, and it takes a second after stopping for your run to start back up. I'd wager that it'd already slow you down to at least 1-2 seconds with just that alone.

Normally you stop, but it's possible to tap a generator so fast that you never start the crouching animation. You literally do 1 frame of animation.

1 frame in a 60FPS (Frames Per Second) game is 1/60th of a second.

Human reaction time to a visual cue is 0.25 seconds.

A blink of your eye. Just blink your eyes a moment. That took 1/10th of a second.

Survivors are able to stop a gen Regression and resume moving SIX TIMES FASTER THAN THE BLINK OF AN EYE.

Again; a dev needs to weigh in. This HAS to be an oversight.

  • @TR_stonez said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/637276#Comment_637276

You act like all survivors can hit the skill check that while running you around it's already hard enough to hit already

pop is what 25% regression so while your chasing him it's regressing he fixes it so your able to kick it again but this time wait til pop is ready then kick it how hard is that doesn't seem to hard

It does not matter if 5,000 players or 5 players can hit it; it's an oversight & a glitch that Survivors are able to tap in 0.05 seconds, which means they can do it mid-chase without any risk.

This means, regardless of what little excuses you use, it needs to be looked at.

How hard is it to understand it's an oversight or glitch allowing Survivors to frame-cancel the repair animation? Are you someone who can do it? is that why you don't want it looked at? Because you'd lose your little animation abuse?

  • @TR_stonez said:

As long as trash killers keep complaining about survivors being op they are gonna keep nerfing them. Killers want free 4k s handed out every game

And trash Survivors whine about Killers being OP because they want free escapes every game.

Legion was nerfed into the garbage because of Survivor whining.

Nurse is being 'looked at' because of Survivor Whining.

And Survivors are already complaining about Spirit & priming the ground for Hillbilly nerfs, of all people.

    It goes both ways, kiddo.

  • @TR_stonez said:

There are perks that counter it just use it pop goes the weasel, overcharged and if your worried about time brutal strength makes it faster stop complaining

None of those perks stop micro-second tapping.

Oh yeah, and the Overcharge/Pop skillcheck? IT FOLLOWS THE SURVIVOR.

They can literally hit it while 20 feet away from the Gen and sprinting.

    So those aren't fixes.

    @Locker_Monster

    >billy has cooldowns on missing & on hitting an object

    Thanks, Cap.

    >Asking for longer cooldowns would turn him into an even easier-to-loop Killer.

I did not speak about this, but about limiting the possibility of constant spam using a saw. In order to have to think where you can to saw, and not press the button constantly. And do not fly from gens to gens continuously. For example, after 10 charges of a saw - overheating and cooldown 10-15 sec.

10-15 second cooldown? Charges on his chainsaw?

You really do want to turn Billy into an M1 killer you can endlessly loop. You can't, in any way, think giving Billy an absurdly long cooldown is anything but nerfing him so you can have an easier game.

    Hillbilly is fine. Get gud.

I wasn't saying this happened to me lmao. Why do people on these forums always assume? 🤔.

Being downed doesn't make the killer a better player btw, it doesn't matter how good of a survivor you are... you'll go down eventually *cough bloodlust cough*.

And NOED isn't OP at all imo, just stupid

I used the royal 'you' to mean whatever 'you' was in your example.

They downed you; they're the better player. ;)

They took a Perk (That YOU can remove) and managed to use it to down YOU.

Therefor; they played better than you. 🙃

Wether the community was...wtv...the game design was pretty sharp imo. Of course Killers that could fly accros the map was a bit OP tho

Eeeehh...I can't really agree or disagree.

I got into Evolve when it became Evolve² and the rotating paywall & Role Queue forced me to play Healer in my first game (I queued for DPS).

Because of the rotating paywall, the 'free' healer was the Bug person; THE HARDEST HEALER. Which I was forced to play...when I did not know the mechanics..

My team made literal death threats after the game was over. There was no way to report in game, so I posted on the forums and got told 'Yeah. Mods don't care. Suck it up and move on'

So Evolve² was garbage and even the Role Queue was trash, IMO.

  • @TheUnendingNightmare said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/636689#Comment_636689

Not it isn't but it is very similar! I came accros it too.

The game is basically you kill and eat animals to grow a mutation and get strong enough to kill the hunters after you.

They on the opposite side have to find you as quick as possible before you Fully mutate. If that happen or they suffer a death they can try to escape.

    You're talking about Evolve.

That game self-destructed because of bad monitization practices and a player base so caustic they could lick steel and watch it melt.

  • @TheUnendingNightmare said:

Okay ? I'm sorry from the 4 languages I speak english isn't my best. Sue me.

Well, I apologize then. You spell very well, punctuation aside.

But don't get snarky about me not understanding what you said, when you're aware it's not your first language.

  • If you'd use proper punctuation, I'd have known you meant Last Year the game, not 'last year' as in 'Not a game from last year'.

    Imagine that.

  • @TheUnendingNightmare said:

The fact that your thoughts went to OW when I based it off the pc horror game with those exact classes (not last year...Hunter ? Hunted ? I can't remember) is funny to me. XD

You mean that DBD ripoff in a school where the Survivors can kill the Killer, which almost always ends with the Killer being trolled/camped & losing?

Yeah..that game does not have any ideas DBD needs.

  • @TheUnendingNightmare said:

It would and it would force ppl to actually work as a team much more than rn.

No matter of the popular/unpopular opinion. It would also balance the survivors.

No. It's a bad idea. Role Queue does not work in all games. This is one of them. Survivors don't have roles. Survivors can use any perk they own.

    That is how DBD is.

  • @Warlock_2020 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/636628#Comment_636628

You think this is game breaking? There are several things that are game breaking, this is not one of them. This is an occasional issue that is more of annoyance than anything.

It still needs to be looked at. Survivors should not be stopping a Regression in 1/60th of a second if it takes Killers 2 seconds to kick it.

This is not intended. This is a clear oversight. it has to be. I can't believe Devs saw Survivors frame-cancelling repair animations and went 'This seems fine'.

  • @TheUnendingNightmare said:

You could still use any characters but their perks has to match the role requirement. Certain perks could be cross roles.

Also, these rules wouldn't be applied to private matches.

Again; people would not be happy if, suddenly, 2 perks they used together were now in 2 separate roles.

Role queue would not work in DBD.

  • @Warlock_2020 said:

Devs have already responded to this before. They stated that it was by design and will not be changed. I agree. I see gen tapping a lot when I'm in a chase, and don't really mind it. I tend to not lock down on a chase as much as others though either. If I see the gen tapping and suspect another person nearby, I chase the one off, get a free hit, then circle back and kick the gen again. I usually find another survivor trying to get to the gen. I get another free hit and another kick. Gen is now regressed further than it would be on its own.

It is not a common occurrence. It happens most in SWFs, and I expect it. Not game breaking by any stretch of the imagination though.

By design? And not game breaking? They're literally breaking the animations.

I refuse to believe the Devs were at all aware that gen tapping can be done in 0.05 seconds unless one says otherwise here.

  • @TheUnendingNightmare said:

This isn't the Berlin wall ppl

    ..What?

Still, I think roles would not work in this game. Just because they work in different games (Mostly FPS's) does not mean they'd work here.

  • Bump. I really want to hear a devs input on the fact that Survivors can stop Regressing in 1 frame of animation.

  • I don't think roles would really work in this game, since perks are interchangeable, and people would riot if they suddenly could not use <x> perk because their roles does not allow it.

  • I believe the pure minimum speed, adding all possible perks & all 4 people on 1 gen, is around 20 seconds?

  • I ran into a 'sneaky' speedhacker today.

A Judy who was ever so slightly faster than the Killer no matter what. No Lithe, No Sprint Burst, No Balanced Landing. Just straight up slowly opening gaps in straight-line runs.

Find her on a gen? She's outrunning me by just enough.

See her running towards a friend on the hook? She reverse course and is making a larger gap as she goes.

Hit her? She gets the quick speed boost, then goes back to the ever so slightly faster than me speed she had.

It was not possible to catch her if she was aware of me.

Thankfully, I was playing trapper and the putz kept stepping in beartraps. I forgot to report them, though; it's been a terrible weekend IRL here. x.x

  • @joker7997 said:

You bleed out much faster if you crawl around, I would estimate about twice as fast as if you weren't moving. Go play the game and try it instead of berating someone stating a fact, asking them to prove it to you. Ridiculous.

Also, again, this is crap taught IN MIDDLE SCHOOL: The Burden Of Proof is on whoever made the statement. Got some freaking brain trusts around here.

  • I love that more than half the replies ignore the main point of my post:

Survivors should not be able to stop gen regressing in a single frame of animation.
