  • Spirits really good. She doesn't need ruin. When a Spirit is using ruin it's like a Billy using ruin securing the 4k or a bad Spirit. You can do well without addons at any rank as well. I started to stockpile them recently because I no longer use them.

    I'll pass.

I like my prayer beads, Instaheals, and ebonies. I also have no issue playing against them.

Edit: As well as my DS, Adrenaline, and Iri heads.

I agree with keeping everything since I find Iri Heads at least somewhat skill based. Prayer beads I wouldn't mind at honestly being changed just dont change them to ultra rare.

also im using kates biker skin at least spiritually for now

I've been excited about that outfit since announcement. Excited for the new Min cosmetic and the contest demon slayer outfit when they drop too.

I like combination builds that work well together.

She is well liked in the DBD community. She usually places very high on voting lists of most liked survivors (male or female).

I tend to run into very rude Nea players.

Where are the votes for these just outta curiosity. Am curious to see how people rank survs.

thank you for advising me not to play survivor for blood points. FYI, i get more BP playing survivor than most killers ever will (on average). the only thing makes me have low scoring rounds are teammates that don't actually understand how to play the game in a manner that makes it fun and rewarding.

this is one of the main reasons i enjoy solo queue so much. playing with "friends" usually just has you on a team with a bunch of potatos.. in solo queue, i may get potato teams, but if i put a little effort into avoiding immersed player looking lobbies, its not as hard as you might think to find some actual super-fun games. even if that means half of the people on the team are actively trying to get me killed, that's much better than half of the players on the team kickin back and watching me die. plus, i reserve the right to play anything i want in whatever manner i want.

understand that i am only here trying to help newer players out.. there aren't many people that have even a fraction of my hours, still play daily, and still enjoy it..

as for it not being the survivors' fault i'm being camped, you are correct.. it is the survivors' fault i'm STILL being camped because they have not extended their skillset enough to be able to help in this situation, nor are they even trying to. they think we can all just blame the killer for being an a-hole together and move on as friends. that's just not the way it works.

Ya no problem I just learned who to effectively farm with and at what rank with as killer. At rank 10 with Spirit using BBQ&C and Ruin without Addons or offerings. I avg about 60k a game. Well your lucky honestly I can't stand farming BP'S with survivors. So I give you massive props for that.

I switched to a killer main awhile back because I wanted a break from survivor. It ended up being on PC all I play is Killer while on ps4 all I do is Survivor anymore.

Cant really argue with you on any of the other points because I've been there on both sides. Though as Survivor I would rather play with friends honestly. I'm prolly the potato survivor of my group.

so this is mega nerf for a key

if killer not want to slug its buff for last survivor

pre-spawn hatch now only benefits killer to confirm all kill

from egc its much better than slugging but thats the problem now

how easy to confirm all kill as killer and how gay as survivor

i always giving 3gens before last survivor and find the hatch

killer don't have to be a first, just find hatch before open and that already confirmed all kill

its much more disgusting with nurspirits, because our asian playerbase play them like 3/4 times

how unbalanced between killers made them play those two killers

people mostly quit from how unbalance every shits in game

survivors can play their role too ez and how impossible good with wm1 vs good players

how ez nurspirits and op, how we feel hopeless when we watching what na/eu playing looks like

    15ranky in reds

Just curious are you saying something along the lines of "if a killer slugs for the 4k or finds hatch first they get a guaranteed 4k easily? Especially with the Asian playerbase majorly playing Nurse and Spirt while the Americas and European players typically play other killers?"

  • Funny I'm more likely to give the Feng the hatch due to her being my main. I really only give the last survivor hatch if I think they did a good job and deserved it. If I don't I'll hook them it's all about my feelings though. If you wiggle I'll instantly just hook you after a warning swing tho.

  • @chieftaco said:

@Liruliniel if i'm going to depip either way, why would i help the people that are forcing me to depip by taking longer for me to earn my depip when i could already be in another game earning big time BP and having a blast? just curious.

Not the survivors fault your either camped or they are aware of the progression bar so grab you after a bit. If your being camped you can at least help them try and escape I understand if no one came for you on first stage and still not coming with you not being camped ofc. Also dont play survivor for blood points. After grinding all perks on my survivor main from survivor alone and then doing the same on my main killer. Survivors get a pitiful amount of BP'S in comparison.

It's as bad as going against a SWF that built for Haddonfield.

if i'm on the hook right now and people don't unhook me within 60s, it's not uncommon for me to forget to hit the struggle button so i can move on to the next game. 60s is a very good amount of time to rescue someone.

if you want me to hang there even longer, i think you'll be surprised to see that nobody's going to want to do that (beyond players that just don't know any better)

If I'm being camped I'll wait it out since it means 1 or 2 people will escape the game. Your going to depip either way you may as well help the team out. I see tons of people just get on a hook and if no one immediately comes get them they just die off.

Well that's why the progress bar should go back to normal whenever a survivors is also within x meters or if the killer is within a chase.

Survivor part I wouldn't mind, but chase part not so much.

  • @chieftaco said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/665446#Comment_665446

a good survivor would not loop the killer within X meters.. that's what a really bad survivor would do, just FYI.. a good survivor would do what it took to get the guy off of the hook.. looping the killer next to the guy on the hook guarantees the hooked person isn't coming down (most of the time).

I agree as it is now since that just guarentees a death, but with those changes it would become more common practice as there would be no risk to the hooked survivor except maybe exerting some finger strain lmao. I feel as Borrowed Time becomes even more common since it would be BT and DS making that a brutal and effective combo.

Just my thoughts on the killer proximity to survivors stopping the progression bar.

  • Honestly I can't think of a good counter to camping as the killers who do it generally just dont care. I honestly hate people who do it. Low ranks I fully understand as people haven't yet started the journey as a killer, but I would like a solution other then reduced emblem.

The progression bar cant stop if killer is x meters near simply because good survivors will loop the killer within x meters.

According to @Liruliniel you can get your first down in 15 seconds which says a lot about the survivors he goes against.

Nobody needs ruin (or ANY other perk for that matter) to beat that kind of survivor.

Never done a cross map snipe with Billy? Blinked on top of survivors with Nurse? Phased to people with Spirit? Hit people with a Hatchet then meleed them for the down with Huntress? Stalked with Ghostface for a instadown? Instadowned someone with Leatherface? Yes it is possible in the first few seconds to down someone with these killers before survivors have a chance to get adequate cover.

Do I need to spell out the game for you too? I stated when you can get survivors down i didnt say it was regular i even stated which killers are good for it. This requires some information on your spawn locations of survivors and your ability to play. Ruin or no Ruin this should be possible to locate survivors. Everything about this game is RNG, but after thousands of hours everything starts to make sense how survivors move, where they spawn, good vs bad pallets and loops.

Everyone loses games even me, but I do quite well at rank 1 without ruin. I dont find it stressful at all simply because I never really used ruin very much. I like to believe I have stopped needing it a long time ago. Are there matches where I think "if I had ruin?" Yes. I would highly advise people to record there gameplay and look at it. Everyone has had ruin pop instantly and gotten 4k's problem is people dont wonder if they can continue this trend or if they do they get crushed the next match and go back to ruin.

Also on a side note I really do love your name so props.

K man. What if all survivors are good loopers? I loose right?

Let's say 2 survivors spawn at the location you go to correct? One attempts to get your attention and One either tries to hide or run away which is the correct to survivor to chase? You should know the answer already.

Please see the first section of this post. I'm not saying every killer can do this, but I am saying it is quite possible with certain killers based on how they play.

  • @FriendlyGuy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/664638#Comment_664638

The problem is not applying gen pressure while they are on hook pressure anyway. The problem is applying gen pressure/hoon pressure before three gens pop.

Ever since EGC has started we no longer need to worry about the first two gens popping. We also have enough anti gen perks currently in the game before the release of Stranger Things too accommodate these issues.

If you know the average pathing of a survivor plus the locations survivors typically spawn you can get your first down within 30 to 40 seconds of the game. If your a faster killer at obtaining downs like Nurse, Billy, Huntress, Spirit, Leatherface, Ghostface you can have a down within the first 15 seconds of the game.

If you prefer to chase a survivor over kicking a gen that's not the fault of the game it's YOURS. Even if they run away you have scratches/blood to follow. Even if they sneak away you have common sense on locations they would hide in or at.

Typically survivors spawn in multiples on locations as well. So you can figure out which survivors the looper and which survivors bad at it from the reaction if you drop down on them immediately.

Are you saying you have been playing this game at high rank for x amount of hours and never had your ruin pop within seconds of the game starting and gotten a 4k? If that's honestly the case then the problem is not the game or the survivors it happens to be you.

  • @Predator3174PL said:

Try apply pressure on the whole map with weak killer. In time you might get one hook, 1 or 2, or if survivors are smart, 3 gens might be poped. It's not hard to use toolbox and hit great skillchecks in red ranks.

Its not hard man not quite sure why no one bothers to actually try instead gets stomped on for a few games and runs back to ruin.

    @FriendlyGuy said:

Gatekeeper wants to know your location.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/84757/ruin-buff

I just thought how hilarous it would be, if the survivors just do ALL totems before the gens and ruin is just like it has never been there.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/664564#Comment_664564

You got a really good point here. Imagine the next meta really being something like:

All survivors "Inner Strenght" instead of "Adrenaline", three survivors do one totem and one survivor two totems right at the beginning of the match. When the last gen pops all injured go in a locker to heal up.

Chasing the 3rd survivor while one remains hooked and the second is on the ground. Leaving the fourth to either help the team or finish the gen.

  • @Sauceman_Tim said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/664510#Comment_664510

Ummmmm yeah that's hilarious. Let's see you "pLaY efFecTively WiTHout RuIN" and play weaker killers. See how much fun you have with SWF

Already done. I dont need ruin to play and get 4ks against SwF with any killer at high ranks. Fact is I learned how to apply pressure a where and when. When to acknowledge when a chase was bad and identifying weaker targets and how to push survivors away from target areas.

I realized ruin was a handicap a long time ago. People find it early and last few months people at all ranks are proficient at ruin checks. The single biggest advantage of ruin is securing a hook before gens pop. If your good at chases as you should be at high ranks learn spawning locations you can get the first down before a gen pops.

  • @TrueLegend said:

Survivors very often spawn right next to important totems.

Changing the totem spawn locations is one way of solving this problem, but it still isn't reliable.

I suggest having hex perks have their totem burn only a set amount of time after the trial has began.

Say you have ruin, the totem will be selected after say 30 seconds and only then burn so that survivors don't instantly run into the totems while finding an objective to complete.

Or you know learn to play effectively without ruin.

  • @Zixology said:

I see so many people crying about DS being too OP still. Their only argument is that they see "every" survivor using it.

Let's think on that for a second...

DS is an anti-tunneling perk. Nothing else. So if "every" survivor is using it and you keep getting angry about that; it only means two things.

    1. You tend to tunnel quite often if you're hit with DS as much as you say.
    2. Most people tend to tunnel quite often if "every" survivor feels the need to run it.

It does suck though when you dont tunnel and do get hit because in 60 seconds you have downed someone else and found them. I mean it sucks cuz you get stunned, but your usually in a winning position at that point

  • Its necessary for people who have yet to learn proper distribution of pressure between survivors, gens, map. You dont need Ruin at high ranks it's just recommended by a lot of killers who instead of learning how to play killer properly they insist ruin is needed and necessary in every killer.

Though I still use it when I decide I would like a easy game for the match. It's highly effective at what it does unfortunately it also teaches you to ignore good time management and when to abandon chases.

Also highly discourage the use of Bamboozle, No One Escapes Death, and Spirit Fury for the same reasons.

Then again I'm a bit of a oddball who's willingly let the game be more difficult so I can play easier at the long game.

I just want to move to PC, because I hate bad framerates, ######### sensitivity and the lack of other features. Is it worth losing all of my progression?

    Good day.

PC version will probably last longer since the next gen of consoles are getting lined up for release next year. I play both using my experience I quickly leveled up killers for good builds.

Also the framerates issues was never that big of a issue for me when playing ps4.

I love her, Her power can be used in chase but also help give map pressure. My only issue with her is prayer beads, While I think it's fun to have a scary game like that once in a while I can see how it can be a bit OP.

I don't understand the hate around her lately from survivors. Not every Killer needs a Direct counter it's asymmetrical for a reason. I feel like if they added more counterplay to spirit it'd wreck her, Her power is kind of fragile that way.

Because shes hard to counter efficiently even if you know what your doing. So everyone yells for a nerf so they can get a easier game. Sad part is she has a bug letting you know she's in phase. Yet people still can't seem to figure her out. Her biggest strength is chases and mind games. Yet her single strongest weakness is actually a competent stealth player. People dont want to adapt to using stealth they prefer to loop a killer who effectively is designed to have the best chase potential outside of Nurse in the game.

Good loopers don't even need perks to loop.

I learned to loop recently and I don't use any of the usual perks. The only looper perk I use is Balanced Landing, I sometimes use it because it's just so good for looping on certain maps.

I always spec with dumbass builds, you know ones with No Mither, Flip Flop and Tenacity.

I wouldn't say I'm good at looping but I can waste some of the killer's time even basically perkless (sometimes even at a disadvantage like when I have No Mither on).

But I think people who are good at looping and use the perks can really ruin a killer's night by extending the chase for minutes. It's these people using DS and Dead Hard that really ruin a killer's night.

Agreed I just wanted to point it out. I have recently gotten better at a looper. Still super inconsistent about it though. Sometimes I have days I can't loop for 10 seconds and others I can loop all 5 gens. Least I'm starting to get to where I can loop for a full gen guaranteed anymore. I only use BL when I have a spot open since it opens so many loops. Exhaustion perks make me more cocky then I should be.

  • @Mochan said:

A lot of people use those perks and stuff in all ranks. They're meta for a reason. Even solo survivors do this.

Sad part is that there meta because a lot of people need those perks to compliment a playstyle they are not that good at. I've seen some of the best loopers and killers running perks people dont ever use.

  • @JawsIsTheNextKiller said:

Also , if you do not lobby dodge, you end up playing SWF groups that everybody else has been lobby dodging. Because they get lobby dodged every evening, they have little opportunity to get to the rank they belong and you end up playing an imbalanced number of toxic swf groups.

I see Mrs JawsIsTheNextKiller's toxic SWF group sat there for an hour waiting for someone to accept 4 Blendettes with toolkits and instaheals and she says, "Why can't I get a game?", and then good guy/gal @About8Genjis takes the challenge! Good on you.

Always find it amusing how people dodge SWF say that SWF is OP and have never really had the chance to play against them or learn tactics. They wound rather dodge most days then actually learn.

I generally try to use strong windows against her or attempt to guess her path at pallets, I’ve confusing them can work but usually isn’t the best move.

It might just be the fact she's one of my mains so I know how she works and what I do. I just do the opposite of what I like to see usually xD.

  • @GrootDude said:

Stealth play isn’t spirit counter play, it is a strategy that works against every killer, we’re referring to her chase counter play.

My bad I was speaking specifically it's good against her since her ability lies in chase potential. Best thing I have can say would be path switching. You have 5 seconds to attempt to confuse them. If you can confuse them they could end up far enough to screw them. It's not something you just auto learn tho.

  • @GrootDude said:

I would argue that she actually has less counterplay than most killers (not Nurse levels, though). Her counterplay is more related to which perks you brought, which makes it a little more rough. If you didn't already have Iron Will equipped, oof.

Her biggest weakness is a blendette. That style of play is the opposite of what a Spirit wants. Luckily everyone prefers to loops.

I am running anti-Spirit and anti-Nurse build: Dane With Me - Iron Will - Quick and Queit - Lithe, so stop saying people are not trying new things. It works but not always and her chase potential is insane. If she has Stridor she will hear you anyway and good Spirit will get you. Also running 4 perks just to have better chance of countering 2 killers clearly says something is off here. She has too many cues while survivors are not getting anything. Her phasing in TR is gone, out of TR is not directional. You cannot even tell when she is or is not vaulting windows. Now imagine Nurse - she is standing still while blinking and only becomes visible after 2nd blink to score a hit. Would that be fair? I do not think so, well that's how Spirit works.

I only use Iron Will, Quick and Quiet, DS, Random Perk lately head on due to the animation. Losing killers is not hard you dont need to devote all 4 slots man.

Oh I guess this was a misunderstanding. I thought you were complaining about Spirit's skill level. I mostly agree with what you said, Survivors refuse to adapt. I apologise.

Nah it's cool man. I actually love Spirit straight out of the box both mechanically and cosmetically. Shes the reason I went from survivor main to 50/50. My only issue is people saying change the rarity on Prayer Beads. If its moved to ultra rare it will become more popular. It also severely needs a rework.

  • Honestly it's about 50/50 I dont seen many licensed killers, but usually when I do I see them all day for the most part. I think orginal content is better, but I do like my Pig xD

  • @StupidButTru said:

Why is it with each update is there a new thing to complain about? Originally it was vaulting, that got nerfed into the ground. Then it was Exhaustion perks that got nerfed. Then it was DS that got nerfed after a while. Then it was Borrowed Time, that perk has been through the wringer. Throughout all that time only a few people has once complained about Generator time, then now it's all the rage. Why does it seem like every time survivors has to adapt a new playstyle just to be able to survive this happens?

Even they complain about SWF but nobody really wants to play with a group of people who just UE their way around the map or get down after 10 seconds of a chase, or farm their own teammate because they want to get their alturism points. Hence why people get a group together, it's inevitable. Killers aren't to suppose to always get 4ks and survivors aren't suppose to always survive. For some reason that pisses off a lot of players but that's how the game is suppose to be.

I'm not talking about all Killers of course but quite a few.

Competitive games make people very competitive. With new perks, new metas, new issues, new killers the game starts to evolve. This creates issues on both sides of the board. The game was pretty balanced and is to a extent now, but the game will eventually tip to either being killer sided or survivor sided again. (My votes killer sided)

Killers want the 4k and Survivors want to escape. The Devs have stated the ideal model would be 2 escape and 2 sacrificed. This is happening in some games at lower ranks, but realistically one side is usually stomped harder then the other. This happens for many reason the biggest being Skill levels.

Such issues include toxic behavior, infinite loops, tunneling, camping, mori cancelling (seriously who thought this was a good idea?), bullying from both sides, waiting for hatch to spawn since it no longer needs gens done (stupid imho), bullying new players by either deranking or playing smurf accounts, misplaced terms i.e gen rushing/camping/tunneling, etc. All of these go in circles.

People dont seem to realize that on the other side of the screen is another person so whenever something bad happens they either take it out on them or take it out on the next person (who's innocent and about to repeat said circle).

Like any competitive game Meta's change and as a result the outcry for what needs to be fixed is changed. DS for an example needed to be changed it was clearly broken it made killers lose any momentum in the game. People will say I'm wrong, but the fact is even now a single DS can cause a killer to lose this momentum. Well killer shouldn't tunnel? I have personally as a Survivor been hit and DS after another survivor has been hooked and done this to a killer.

    TLDR:

Metas change for everything as a result new outcry for nerfs will happen.

Since you also seem to be just gather addons in Spirit. Is it me or is Prayer Beads more common then the amulet?

People all wants beads moved to ultra rare, but the reality is Beads will potentially become more common this way. With a guaranteed spawn of at least 1 ultra rare. Even if they moved fathers glasses to another rarity that leaves 3 ultra rares a Spirit can get. On the other hand I see Beads potentially once every few bloodweb occasionally I see it 2 times a blood web.

Spirits risk factor is so low even though it so obviously is?

Shes low risk because despite her powers cool down, the fact she can't see people in phase. She still functions without phase and her power very well for a manageable 16 seconds. Any semi good Spirit can learn to manage the cool down. You can use the Spirits phasewalk in several different ways to apply pressure. It's when you start putting them together you can become a better Spirit.

High reward part. I shouldn't have to handfeed you the information on this otherwise there would be less threads about her.

Overall Spirit is Low Risk High Reward because survivors let her be. There's a reason Spirits worse at lower ranks compaired to higher ranks. Shes forces a playstyle that "good survivors" dont want to use and instead complain shes too Strong and OP please nerf.

If it makes you feel better Spirit is indeed one my Mains you know of 4 different killers I commonly use so I have seen hundreds of different tactics against her. I have adapted to Spirit and very rarely lose too her because instead of just accepting shes too strong I changed my build. I evaluated what was strong on my survivor build and what was weak. Instead of complaining your usual Meta builds not up to the task of Spirit maybe you should start evaluating the meta and what perks are good against these "top tier killers"

Can you present to me at least a shred of logic as to why?

    To which part exactly?

Killers have to run certain perks to counter things survivors do but if you ask survivors to do the same it's a problem?

Yep because that means they can't run all the OP perks lmao. It's like they haven't played any mmo or rpg with a pvp system.

I don't play spirit anymore you may be right but, he do not change the fact that skill cap is way lower than i hear people saying.

Her skill cap is weird it's in multiple places. Her skill cap is low for average to good Spirits and really high for people who have broken through and pushed themselves to make her better.

I disagree. Because of her phase cooldown, her mistakes are amplified, as well as her powers.

High risk - high reward plays are even riskier with her.

    Shes low risk high reward.

Finally someone who gets it Spirit just challenge your senses.

Spirit trains your split second decisions/tracking with sounds/environment/scratches/mind games. This makes it so when you play other killers you develop your skills as a killer faster.

Pig combined with Spirit actually trains everything you need in the game.

Ye you must move in weird ways as a survivor when she's phasing.

Honestly I think people just to refuse to adapt to her. She forces a style of play people dont want to accept and get used to. The last few killers have started to force people into new styles of play. Spirit is also not very common so learning strategies against Spirit is hard. I think most people who know these strategies are the same Spirit Mains since they watch people try and try to figure out methods.

Iron Will and Spine Chill are LIFESAVERS. Quick and Quiet and Dance With Me is also good.

I run Quick and Quiet with Iron Will on survivor

    @FriendlyGuy said:

People that flame spirit are usually survivor mains. She takes a lot of skill and, different than nurse, she got a hardcounter: Iron Will.

Oddly Iron Will isn't as powerful if your efficient at tracking, but most people dont take advantage of the environment when in phase as well . Still sucks though.

For me, I would love if we could get a Remothered chapter. Rosemary as the Survivor and The Red Nun and the killer.

Honestly I'm a bit tired of licensed content I want something orginal again.

Survivor perspective:" Bad killer just tunnel me and I cant use DS, because the timer has expired".

Killer perspective:" I dont tunnel, but I got hit by DS, because they run into me for bad unhooks".

My basic solution would be this:

    • DS is active after the survivor got unhooked
    • DS is deactive after another survivor get hooked
    • When you use it 1 time, then the perk is deactive until you get unhooked again
    • You can use DS only 2 time
    • The stun is 3 seconds long

Do you agree, do you disagree?

Lets talk about a good solution for both sides.

My friends group came up with the same idea except keep the stun as a punishment for tunneling. The survivors will need it. Plus ot wont affect people who dont tunnel so the stun wont matter to a lot of people.

I can deal with that playing Nurse 24/7. But I want to play wraith aswell.

You can do it with any killer the difference is learning how and where to apply said pressure. Some objectively have a harder time applying this either based on killers skill cap or the players.

Reasoning? Because you're a biased killer main or is there any logic to be found?

I enjoy finding items in a map and taking it to the campfire for my hideously large supply of items. Also it's more fun without items in every game.

  • Ya same here, but you know it happens lmao

Sounds weird, why some characters get more rare add-ons when other get less/

Who knows, but as I got 40 more lvls to go on Spirit for all perks I shall proceed to keep track of addons and mention it to you later in this thread.
