    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/213028/solo-queue-is-literally-impossible-lately

It’s not that they are terrible it’s just that this game requires a lot of communication now because they keep buffing killers in various ways. I.e smaller maps, more powerful abilities and add ons that are pretty much OP af lmao. When you are Part of any team, teamwork is essential to winning. But this game doesn’t really feel like it has a balanced experience on both sides. The biggest problem is hiding/map size imo. When both of those are lacking in size or amount then it becomes kinda too easy for the killer. I play both sides and I’ve been red rank survivor solo for a long time and even In red ranks survivors don’t win often. When I play killer I almost feel like I’m in control of most of the matches. Every so often a survivor escapes or two. But imho killers have too much at their disposal in relation to the current map sizes being to small, the available hiding sucks and ways to confuse the killer and not get caught is extremely lacking. The game is designed for survivors to get caught. They inevitably go down really fast in most games. Then proxy camped until they die.. 1 by 1. It’s too easy for killers. Enough said.

I think a lot of this has to do with the team you get matched with as well. Even if you get a small map with limited stealth potential, you can still win if your team does gens and gives decent chases. As soon as I get hooked and see that one of my teammates is crouching in the opposite corner of the map doing nothing, then it's obvious we're not going to win because my "red rank" teammates are playing like rank 20s.

  • I've only had three decent teams in the last two days. And one of them was a SWF that at two gens left decided to sandbag me to death and throw the game for the heck of it.

I would go try to do some of my killer challenges but apparently the game thinks I need to be paired with red ranks when I'm still green.

  • The survivor's death may be faster with a mori, but it wastes more time for killers. Killers aren't locked into an action after the survivor is placed on a death hook, freeing them to go patrol gens or find the hatch before the survivor is officially dead. With a mori, the killer can't move for the duration of the animation. The carrying phase is the only thing that requires the killer's time when hooking.

There isn't really a tactical advantage to using a mori anymore, in fact it's more of a disadvantage because it doesn't give that buffer time for hatch and it doesn't award as many bloodpoints or emblems. The only thing that made it strong was being able to take a survivor out before their second hook, now it's just a cool animation.

  • I'd recommend prioritizing David, Dwight, Feng, and Bill. David has We're Gonna Live Forever, which will help you get more post-match bloodpoints by rescuing people from hooks. He also has Dead Hard which is a bit buggy, but can be very powerful in chases. Dwight can give you Prove Thyself, another great perk for getting bloodpoints if you work on a gen with someone. Feng's perks are all very good for new players and can help you get used to some mechanics. And then Bill just has two really strong perks and another situational but good one.

The only survivor you have that I'd really say you should wait on leveling is Ace. He is a good survivor in general because of how quiet he is while injured, but his perks are awful. Everyone else has at least one good perk while I'm pretty sure one of his doesn't even work, another is only good for farming/keeping add-ons, and his last one is okay but not super helpful.

Hello, as I am new to this community, only have ~100 hours in the game, I have a question about how hacking is addressed.

Does reporting hackers do anything? Is the staff responsive to these reports or are they just ignored for months, maybe even forever?

    Here's the story.

I just had a match with a facecamping trapper who literally hooked survivors and placed 4 traps around the hook and just waited for them to die, minimal 5m radius patrol path. Even so, he wasn't a very good player, so he was quite easy to juke and only managed to get one kill before the exit gates open, the guy who was downed at the start of the game, and the last one being myself after the others escaped.

The thing is, when he was carrying me on his shoulder he went for the exit gates where the other two survivors were waiting and suddenly my Wiggle bar refused to advance anymore, and at the same time, he was literally swinging 4/5 times a second at the survivors, even managed to down one out of surprise but he was safe as he was right at the exit and fell to his escape. I assume he just got really pissed off at being outplayed even with his facecamping and activated his hacks as a last resort at the exit gates to try his luck at getting a 4k.

Obviously this was amusing, but counting the fact that he was the most toxic facecamping killer I have ever encountered and he also turned out to be a hacker pissed me off to the point where I even bookmarked his steam profile to check it once in a while to see if he was banned.

If anyone is curious and would like to also report him for hacking, here is his profile:

    https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198821822737/

You need to have video evidence of the hack and send it in with your support ticket. You also need to report them in-game. If you didn't record it then you're out of luck since they need both.

That being said, I don't think that Trapper was hacking. Sounds like he had the perk Mad Grit. No cooldowns on swinging when you're carrying a survivor, and hitting a survivor causes the wiggle bar to pause for a few seconds. Of course if he didn't have that perk then he was hacking, but I've seen a lot of wrongful cheating accusations due to Mad Grit.

Since it was which killer you used for Deadly Deceit. I kind of figured it would be which survivor you use for Productive Day.

Yeah you'd think that would be the case, but bugs can be weird. It could also be which survivor, which just means I was lucky in who I chose, but what I said above are things I know you either can or can't use.

  • I did it with Quentin (my main), but I think it's more about whether you used an objective BP offering for survivors. I've also heard that Prove Thyself breaks it, but the bonus points from We're Gonna Live Forever don't break it. Neither do Bloody Party Streamers.

It broke for me when the killer played an anniversary cake but I don't know if that's the reason why it bugged that particular round.

I did, and I was able to hook her. I facecamped her because I didn't want her to pull any more tricks. She got saved by a Jane who died in her place and she escaped.

Sucks that she managed to escape. I really can't think of anything that would have gotten her picked up so fast, definitely suspicious.

Completely agree, it doesn't make sense.

I've run into a couple (and after a bit of research, I even know exactly what they are using...yikes).

Basically - resetting or manually adjusting ranks, infinity top tier addons and items, clipping through exit games and being able to see the killer in the lobby (possibly).

Your comment made me have a flashback to that one Otzdarva video where he kept complementing how good this Nea was and then she walked through the exit gate in front of him. Such a plot twist. And yeah, the seeing the killer thing is done through the files. Whenever I do a Doctor daily I always get at least two people with Calm Spirit. Maybe one day this'll be fixed.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/193795/it-finally-happened-i-ran-into-a-hacker

I also luckily rarely had run ins with blantent hackers probably less than 10 over years and thousands of hours of gameplay. Unfortunately, I also know that people are discreetly hacking and probably not being noticed as well since when I'm playing survivor I've watched 105% or 110% survivors running alongside of me and just gaining distance toward whatever they're running towards. Nothing like a "little crutch" to feel better about themselves by having permanent Hope-like effects all game but the Killer will still eventually down them so they're less likely to be reported (I would assume). I submitted that video with a ticket back in like 2018 but got no feedback from it to this day other than they are "looking into it". I'll assume that there are at least a dozen more cases that go unnoticed per player though

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1643811#Comment_1643811

Being able to see the killer in lobby is a known exploit at the moment just by a viewing an unencrypted DBD file while sitting in lobby... apparently they tried to fix it by encrypting it when the match finishes but for whatever reason the file is still viewable while in lobby and the match is ongoing (according to another user on these forums). Probably should be addressed but most folks aren't in the know... for now.

Yeah, there's no way to tell if someone's hacking if they aren't being stupid about it. It's impossible to know how many of those types I've run into over the years, but I want to have at least some faith in our community so I'll pretend the number's zero.

  • @Equus said:

A shame you didn't record this. I came across a hacker a month or 2 ago, I recorded he got banned.😁 I was playing survivor as well but had clear sight on several things he did to prevent the killer from grabbing/hooking/downing him. I record everything and just delete the random vids.

Yeah it is a shame. I don't ever record my games because I usually never run into stuff like this, I don't even have any recording software on my computer.

    @Gylfie said:

I played a game recently where I downed a Kate and while standing on top of her aimed at a David on a nearby gen. I miss my shot on David, reload my harpoon and see that Kate is already up and out of sight. In less than ten seconds? I felt really dirty for some reason, like, shocked. It wasn't a pleasant experience.

That sounds really suspicious. Definitely too fast for Unbreakable or a syringe. Did you end up downing her again later?

Be glad you haven't run into one, it can be a frustrating experience.

Oh no, I've run into plenty of them, and used to have a mate who was one (he got banned lol). I know they're frustrating as ######### to face, and to play with, but I just haven't encountered one in like, the past year and a half by now

Ah, I see. Yeah it can be really frustrating, but like I said to the other person it really irritated me because of my challenge. I'm trying to balance online college and getting this rift done and running into a hacker now of all times was just awful.

    @Saitamfed said:

I had some issues with hacking in the past and I DC'ed whether I dislike to DC. People that is looping me, go rounding a hill and when I get them there are no scratch marks nor the survivor (and yes they can walk but as a killer I am faster) can be seen anywhere, even thought the area had not many places to hide. Survivors that, I look somewhere else to chase a Claudette and they insta-heal, and before you ask, no they didn't 99% heal themselves since I have been chasing them and they didn't try to heal, and I only left the chase for 5 secs, and no, there are no "For the people" users.

I have seen videos of survivors with OoO that are outside the map walls, meaning the killer is already in the border of the map, near a gate, and they are beyond it.

Personally If this were a single player I wouldn't care at all, but being a multiplayer BHVR should do something against those people.

Lag switching can be a tricky issue but one that they need to deal as well.

Yeah, I couldn't care less for cheating in a single player game. But considering that this game is multiplayer and we have a limited time to get our rift stuff done this needs to be handled. I just wish that I had been recording so that my report would get looked into.

What rank are ya'll playing at. I'm rank 1 killer west coast of north america, I play about 5 hours a day (1200 hours so far) and I run into 1 definite hacker (able to get up instantly from being downed over and over, impossible to hook on any hook, has names like "you can't hook me", spams hooking and unhooking himself) every 2-3 days and 1 probably hacker (suspiciously faster than me at loops even when I slide on the surface, seems to both sprint burst and dead hard) every day. I've had to start recording all of my games because of it, in case one shows up. I hope I have your luck from now on.

As killer I'm only rank 9 because I don't kill outside of challenges or survivors letting go. The hacking Nea I ran into was Rank 2 so either matchmaking just hated me this morning or one of the other survivors was in a SWF with her that allowed her to get in a lobby with me.

EU servers here, and when I was playing almost 24/7 from June (when I got my pc) - Mid-august I didn't see a single one. Interesting how NA people seem to have a significantly larger amount of hackers, especially since everyone claims Russia to be hack central.

Like I said in my original post, this is the first time I've seen one in like three years and only the second overall I've ran into. I don't know much about this Russia being hack central thing, but for most people I'm pretty sure finding an obvious hacker is rare. Be glad you haven't run into one, it can be a frustrating experience.

    @tippy2k2 said:

I ran into my first yesterday. It was absolutely clear they were hacking (they could put themselves "on a hook" at will but it wouldn't hurt them, they basically just hung wherever they were standing but it healed them and I couldn't pick them up or interact with them when they did it. They also could Sonic the Hedgehog speed away and instantly heal their fellow survivors).

I'd be more irked but I was doing my Pig daily (4 dash attacks). I rarely use the dash attack in the game so being able to just continually dash attack the hacker let me get my daily done with ease so I can only be so mad at them :D

It's crazy just how many things they're able to do. I probably wouldn't have been as irritated if I wasn't going for the devout emblem challenge. I've gotten so many emblems one hook away from iridescent that I want to scream.

Last time I saw hackers was like 2 years ago I think. Speed hacking Wraiths on Xbox. Literally found and downed all 4 of us spread out across the map in about 20 seconds. I don't get the point of it.....

I've seen some recent videos of stuff like that happening too. I just don't get how it's even fun for them, like what are they even trying to accomplish? You'd think if they were trying to get a reaction or something they'd talk trash in end game chat or for console send messages, but they never do.

  • This bug is also affecting the new tome. Just did a master challenge for Ace and didn't get the entry.

  • I was playing as Demo and doing the kill all survivors challenge. When there were just two survivors left, I downed one of them with Shred and saw the other one with Killer Instinct. I traveled to that portal and found an immersed Claudette who was trying to blend... On top of the portal. The guy that I'd left slugged accused me of cheating because there was "no way I could have known where the other guy was." When I told them the Claudette was on a portal, they said that portals don't do that.

It really surprises me how many survivors don't know how a killer's power works.

  • Yui's extra cosmetic is a recolor of her default jacket, and it is only available if you buy the chapter itself on whatever platform you're using. Buying Oni with shards would not get you the jacket, unfortunately.

  • Haunted Grounds.

  • There's a perk called Small Game that makes a sound when you look in the direction of a totem. It doesn't show you an aura or anything, but it lets you know if there's one nearby.

  • @Peanits

I'm a player who didn't lose any event cosmetics and I now have two of the Hound, Pro-Pain, and Free Songbird pieces. Untamed Donkey Jacket has only one copy, which I am assuming is my original. Looks like the system might not be picking up only people who lost their cosmetics.

i dont think it is, it could just be my eyes playing tricks, but i played like 6 games after i finished 2.1 tome, and noticed that i was still at tier 14 with what looks like 7 shards.

Go to the Archives and open the Rift tab. It should show you exactly how many fragments you have. It might just be that it updates correctly there but not in the widget. You can also get a sneak peak at the Level 4 challenges as well.

  • I have this bug as well. The XP progress doesn't show up, but I am still getting fragments. I noticed the bug when I was on tier 14, and now I'm tier 15. Hopefully the situation is the same for you.

I'm disappointed too. No "Kill 5 survivors in a single trial"? Man, I thought the devs listened to out feedback.

You'll just have to deal with two 4k challenges. Two 4ks is almost as satisfying as a 5k, right?

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Wait so you tell me there no "escape twice must be done in a single trial" challenge in level 4?!?! oh that is sad :(

Nope, not this time. I got my hopes up but alas, all the challenges are reasonably possible.

  • In the patch notes it says that if you are using a cosmetic from Doc's Hallowed Blight and Mental Patient sets it could cause some performance issues. If you happen to be wearing those, switch them out and see if that fixes anything. If not, your best bet would be to ask Peanits.

  • I also have this vest. Think it may possibly be a bug.

  • Been playing on PC since 2016. I usually get nice comments when I play as killer. I used to play in purple/red ranks but started drifting more towards survivor because it's less stressful, so rank reset took me all the way back to 17. I don't kill unless a survivor stops struggling in second phase (or Archive challenges) because I don't want to make any of the new players hate the game. Only people who seem to get upset at me are the people who de-ranked for easy matches and found themselves nearly defeated by a guy using one perk.

Survivor, on the other hand, gets me almost exclusively yelled at by my teammates. They get tilted by the weirdest things. Just two weeks ago I had this one match where some Kate and I were the last two in the trial. Killer hooked me and was staying very close to the hook, so I stopped struggling to give Kate a chance to find hatch. Kate somehow got downed before I could even hit spectate even though she was healthy when I died, and then she yells at me in the post-game chat for letting go. Overall I get more stuff like this since I play survivor more. Probably an 80/20 ratio.

  • Now I'm not saying it's easy, but killing all four survivors in the basement gave me more trouble than I bargained for. I almost got it my first game. Three dead in the basement, one player left. It of course was a flashlight-spamming Blendette who was waiting at the hatch instead of helping her team. I managed to get there first and close it, and I downed Blendette. Unfortunately I only had Tier 1 Agitation and no Iron Grasp, so she kept wiggling off of my shoulder at the basement steps and running to the opposite corner of the map. She died to EGC and then gloated about keeping me from getting the challenge done.

Took me about four or five more games in order to get it done since I kept getting bad basement spawns. I was able to trick the last survivor with the two Demogorgon portals around the basement trick after I hooked her last teammate. That team was actually really nice and congratulated me for getting the challenge and wished me happy holidays. Wish I ran into players like them more often.

Personally, i would not use it. I simply dont like the look of the weapon.

And thats what I mean - Killers should see their Skin in first person when looking at it in the Store. Because if I would not have seen this, I might have bought it and would not use the weapon at all.

I agree. Honestly, there needs to be an update to viewing cosmetics in the store in general. It's a nightmare trying to look through Spirit's swords when she leaves them in glass shard form for an hour. We got a zoom in feature for the charms, why shouldn't we have that for other cosmetics?

Until we get an update for that, I'd recommend watching Monto every Wednesday. He usually makes a video with each new outfit, so you can see the first-person view that way.

  • Ouch.png

In general it would be nice to see the Outfit in first person for Killer Cosmetics. Because the weapon might look nice, but it can look really bad when in first person. And honestly, the weapon is the most important Part, because that is what the Killer is seeing for 99% of the Match.

Pay no attention to Monto's chin in the corner. I personally like this sword quite a bit. Not often do you see a face attached to a sword.

Nobody spent money on the event cosmetics? They didn't start selling them until Hallowed Blight, I believe. Long after the four cosmetics in question.

For those that spent money on convention exclusives, it really does suck. The situation should have been settled sooner so that there would be less people paying hundreds for a code that may or may not exist, but at least it is being settled now. Better late than never.

  • I don't believe there's any way to report somebody in the pre-trial lobby at the moment, though since you already reported him in your previous match the post-game chat will be looked into. If what he said was bad enough he might get banned, but for now that's all you need to do to get the team to look into it.

For real. How do you choose Quentin to be your representative character from Nightmare on Elm Street instead of Nancy, the main protagonist? It would be like having Lynda instead of Laurie for Halloween, or something.

I'm honestly glad that we got Quentin. It would have been amazing to have Nancy Thompson in the game, but since BHVR got the license to the reboot version we would have been stuck with bland Nancy Holbrook if they tried to get her license. Of all the reboot characters, I feel Quentin is the only one who's an improvement on their counterpart since Glen was pretty useless in the original. Quentin won't fall asleep on you when you most need him to stay awake. Twice.

  • I was in a lobby with Detective Jonathan once, but the lobby got dodged so I didn't actually get to play with him.

I did get to play a game with Samination (not sure if he is on the forum or not) when Legion first came out though, and that was nice. We were both Jeff, and I'm pretty sure we both died. Good times.

I think they just stopped including tax into the original price. That means that before they included taxes into the original price, meaning they'll get less than $20 in the end (not counting Valve's share). Now they just add taxes to the original price, meaning that they'll get exactly $20 and everything above is taxes.

That would make sense and explain why I noticed the change. However, some of the console players on this thread have said that they always had the tax when using the store. So I'm still unsure if this was just something that happened on PC, or if there's something else going on.

  • Thanks for responding, everyone! Would have replied sooner, but my power went out for the entire night.

I don't live in Chicago, so the Amusement Tax isn't what's doing it. The sales tax in my area does match up with the taxes on the packs, but the tax rate is the same as it was before I started getting charged for it. I just don't know why suddenly the taxes are applicable to it when before they weren't.

You should also be able to get protection points/progress towards the achievement by taking hits when a killer is carrying someone near a hook (i.e. body blocking) though I haven't confirmed this personally so anyone is free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Body blocking works sometimes, but it's very finicky. The most consistent way to get points for the achievement is through unhooking and taking a hit. If you were to try to do it through body blocking, you would have to be running around the hook because I've never seen it work by just crouching in front of the hook. This makes it to where you aren't even really blocking the killer, because the running makes it to where they can hook the survivor anyway. Even then, it's really hard to tell what exactly works with getting a point from body blocking so it's really hard to replicate. If anyone's found a good method for getting progress through body blocking, I wasn't able to find it when I started looking for how to do the achievement.

  • The way this achievement works is that you have to take a hit directly after unhooking someone. If the survivor you've unhooked has run away from the hook when you get hit, then it doesn't count. The way I've been doing it is having the killer hit me into the injured state and then unhooking the survivor, making sure I'm closer to the killer than the other survivor. Usually, the killer will down me while the survivor is in the invincibility frames and they will leave with borrowed time and I'll get hooked. Other times the killer will want the already hooked person and go after them, but I found the first scenario to occur more often. I can usually get two points towards the achievement per match by doing this, and I'm currently twenty points away from unlocking it. You'll know that it worked if you get two protection scoring events, one worth 100 and the other worth 200. If you follow the steps above and don't get those, the game is probably being a bit buggy with you. Other than all that, be prepared for the other three survivors and the killer to threaten to report you in the end game chat for trying to get an achievement.

Seems like you guys are all newcomers, more or less.

Artifact is a very old rarity, it's a shade brighter than the Ultra Rare pink and is used for the Streamer exclusives (those that weren't in the Charity Case and the original versions of those that were).

I've actually been playing since December of 2016. Hoped I'd be better at the game after all this time, though I still make a lot of silly mistakes. I wasn't aware that streamer cosmetics had their own rarity, I always thought that they were just Ultra Rare whenever I saw them in videos. That's interesting to know. Thanks!

  • There actually are some Ultra Rare cosmetics in the game, though they're not from the store. That rarity is used for exclusives if I'm remembering correctly. As for why the options are there in the store when those rarities aren't sold, it's just so you can equip clothing you already had in the store to mix and match things to see what you like. I don't know about the magenta one though, I wasn't aware that was a thing. If it is something new, I think a mori animation would be cool. Maybe there could also be new emotes for survivors using this new rarity.

  • When you prestige a character, it gets rid of all of the perks, items, and add-ons you have unlocked on that character. If you were to prestige Meg like you said, you would lose everything on her and have to start again from scratch. The only thing Meg would have would be her Tier 1 teachables. Nea would still have Sprint Burst since you didn't prestige her, Ace would still be able to buy Meg's teachables in the bloodweb, and Meg will have her perks show up in her bloodweb but not as teachables. This is the same every time you prestige. Before you actually prestige though, I would wait until the next patch so that perks will spawn in low level bloodwebs. It will help to reduce the grind a little bit for people who aren't done with their prestiges yet.

  • I think I saw another post about it a few hours ago. Somebody said they were missing both their BBQ and Lunar Event cosmetics. I'm not missing mine, though I play on PC. It might just be a PS4 issue, if you have any friends who play DBD on the PS4 you should ask them if they still have theirs. I lost one of my Anniversary items before around the time Clown came out, but that was an issue with the item's coding. I'd say make a ticket to let the Devs know your outfits disappeared and hope you get a quick response on how to fix it or when the Devs will be able to fix it if it's an issue affecting all PS4 users.

Yeah, that's the one. I was thinking that's what they were going for but at the same time I didn't really want to assume and start putting my teammates in a bad mood. But I will definitely use Borrowed Time because I don't want to be a jerk.

You need to get the 300 protection points to get the achievement. It's so random like killer has to hit you on purpose over other survivor for you to actually get this. And getting hit while killer is carrying someone doesn't count.

Getting the Killer to go deliberately for me sounds like a challenge. Only way I can think of ensuring that is to let them hit me before I pull the other person off the hook, and then get hit again. Would doing that mess up getting all 300 points?
